Not so good today. I'm sick and I just don't feel well. My blood pressure is hitting the roof for some reason since I"m on meds that should not happen. Doctor thinks it's thyroid related which would explain a lot of my health issues including my weight gain. I have to have blood work done to look into that. I ate very badly today. Starting with breakfast I had coffee and a doughnut. For lunch Boston Market chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. For dinner I had a beef sandwich. UGH! I know not good. : (

Progress as of today: -167.7 lbs lost so far, only 28 lbs to go!

Donkey on 02/20/2007:
Well, maybe not the *best* day, but certainly better than eating at McDonalds! I hope you feel better soon. Get that blood work done!

girliegirl6486 on 02/20/2007:
The doughnut was probably the worst thing...try to space out portions throughout the day. Get well soon : (

girliegirl6486 on 02/20/2007:
Got your other comment, you're welcome : )

biscottibody59 on 02/20/2007:
The thing of some of these fast food places is that they have alot of sodium in the form of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and they don't disclose it. So your problem today may be simply an overload of sodium. I know when there's alot of it (MSG) in restaurant fare when I get a headache a few hours after eating it or even the next day. Maybe you're already aware of this, but you had to eat something! :-)

Hope you get some rest and get to feeling better soon!

sharklover on 02/20/2007:
Sorry to hear you're not feeling very well. Hope you get everything sorted out soon!

leeumom on 02/20/2007:
Sorry to hear about your bad day and blood pressure. Yes we do have alot in common. I to have thyroid problems. I take meds for it. Also blood pressure. They are both under control with meds. In looking at what you wrote today I wonder if the chart is right. The way I read it--- you have lost 167.7 pounds and have 28 more to lose. I'm not savvy on this computer stuff, so I could be wrong. Suggestion for breakfast-- if you like eggs-- boil 4 or 5 and eat them for snacks. I know that people are afraid of them because of cholestral. But they got a bum rap. Look at the forum on food ideas on the right side of the beginning when you first get on. Good luck.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/20/2007:
well, there are healthier selections to choose from at those places! tomorrow is a new day, though. i had bloodwork done today for the first time. i wish you a better day tomorrow!

biscottibody59 on 04/09/2007:
I had forgotten about you, but saw a comment back in my diary from you--hope you're doing well--if you don't update, please don't give up trying to get healthier and fit. We've all started over (in my case over and over and over . . .)--it's your journey!

Take care!

Okay, I am doing this for my daughter. She keeps asking me to join this and wants to support me in losing weight. But I'm a stubborn one cuz I feel like I can't do it so what is the use. Losing 40 plus pounds is hard. I am horrible at exercising. I have bad knees and heel spurs. I get out of breath and tire easily. I feel upset thinking about giving up foods I like. Yet I know the late night snacking is what is putting on the weight. It's our 25th wedding anniversary in September. And though it would be unrealistic to think I could get back to my wedding day weight of 104 lbs, it is no unrealistic to KNOW I can lose a few if I would just try and put my mind to it. My daughter, girliegirl6486 has been encouraging me and asking me to join this blog - so here I am. Tearfully, because I feel embarassed that I weigh as much as I do and how I look. Thanks Desiree for encouraging me to lose weight hopefully this will help

Progress as of today: -167.7 lbs lost so far, only 28 lbs to go!

mcwoo40 on 02/19/2007:
Hi, just wishing you the best of luck with your healthy eating plan.Don't feel embarressed about how much you weight(i weigh more than you )but we are all here for the same reason, and you will get plenty support from your 'new diet friends'.Bye 4 now,Julie

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/19/2007:
I think its great that your daughter as encouraged you and that you are dealing with the weightloss in a positive way. You don't have to NOT eat anything. meaning, nothing that you love should be off-limits! Just in moderation. If you like your late night snack, eat moderately all day and save up for it...or have it earlier in the day and eat something light at night.

biscottibody59 on 02/19/2007:
Hi and welcome--we all started somewhere and are in various stages of our journeys! So don't pick on yourself--you'll get farther if you just skip that part:-)

I'm 47 now and when I started I was really short of breath on just a short 20 min walk and going uphill was even worse--unless you've got an underlying heart issue, it will get easier very quickly. Make sure you've got a fairly new pair of good running shoes and it will be all the better!

Good luck!

girliegirl6486 on 02/19/2007:
YAY! MOM YOU FINALLY JOINED! Welcome : ) I know you will like the people here. And see, you have support messages already! There is nothing to be embarassed about, we're all here for the same reason.

greengirl on 02/19/2007:
Well done on taking the first step. You will find that all the support and motivation that you need can be found on this site. It will be given to you by people who know exactly what you are going through, because we are all going through it too!!! At least you can also depend on the loving support of your daughter too. How wonderful that is. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours :0)

WorkingIt2 on 02/19/2007:
Welcome! Once you get started and as you learn more, you will be amazed at how easy it truly is. And you'll be kicking yourself for having not done it sooner lol. I know, I started at 213lbs and lost 64lbs last year. It can be done and you are going to do wonderful!!! Don't be embarassed, I promise you..someone here has been there done that with anything you might say..we are here to support you! Good luck =)

leeumom on 02/19/2007:
WELCOME. WE HAVE ALOT IN COMMON. MY DAUGHTER IS (MYLIFECHANGES) AND SHE IS THE ONE WHO ENCOURAGED ME. IF YOU READ MY BIO YOU WILL SEE THAT WE ARE BOTH WANTING TO LOSE ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT. I MAY NOT HIT THE 40, BUT AM TRYING FOR 30 IN THE BEGINNING. I HAVE FOUND ALOT OF SUPPORT. I TO HAVE HEEL SPURS. NOT FUN, HUH. TAKING THE WEIGHT OFF SHOULD HELP. I TO AM CELEBRATING MY 25TH ANNIVERSARY ON MAY 2ND. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU EAT FOR EACH MEAL, I FIND THAT HELPS ME TO BE MORE AWARE. NIGHT TIME IS MY WORST. IF YOU LOOK AT WHAT I HAVE BEEN EATING YOU WILL SEE IT MAY NOT BE MUCH, BUT I SAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR SOME CALORIES AT NIGHT. GOOD LUCK, I KEEP CHECKING IN ON YA.

greeneyedlady61 on 02/20/2007:
Thanks everyone for your support. I really appreciate it and see that we are all working together.
