I had my fasting blood tests this morning and ate a banana in the street on the way home LOL !! I was starving ! The nurse took five tubes of blood. I swear she emptied half my arm !! Apparently my doctor has ordered a barrage of tests on my blood. Hope thats not a bad sign. I'm feeling pretty good at the moment.

On Monday I went out for a drink with my husband. We saw lots of people who have not seen me for a while and surprised a lot of them with my weightloss. A man I've not seen for ages blatantly flirted with me while my husband was occupied elsewhere!!! I can tell you that made me feel good (but a little strange and uncomfortable).

Last weekend I ran into a lady that I used to be very friendly with some years ago. She stopped me in the street and said 'Oh my god, look at you!!' and then she said 'I dont mean that you've lost weight, I mean look how pale you are. You always used to look pink and glowing!' As you can imagine I wasnt overjoyed by this comment, but just replied that it was my high blood pressure that was responsible for my red face and I was paler now my blood pressure was better!! Why can't people just be nice about it?? Someone else told me that I shouldnt lose any more, despite the fact that she must weigh at least two stone less than I do now. How long does it take people to get over it?? Perhaps some of you people who are maintaining a biggish weightloss can tell me how you coped with comments.

I am back at work again tomorrow and I am going to let everything go over my head. If I just keep my head down and get on with it, the day just flies by. Roll on weekend. Hope you all have a great day :o)

I just had to shake my head about that woman's comments:-) I haven't had as great a change as you, but it was noticeable to most people. Some just went on about their business as if it wasn't good enough to comment on. And as for getting more active, in my case jogging, some people feel the need to tell you you're going to kill yourself by being active (somehow)--one memorable reaction from a neighbor. Others say, "Rock on!" You just can't win with some people. Just know you're doing really well for yourself and try to develop a thick skin with the detractors. That last one, I guess she's afraid you're going to surpass her.

This was my first time to really lose weight and it took awhile to get used to negative/no comments from people. The comments from the ones who cared enough to notice eventually made up for them.

Some people don't know what 'tact' is...they say whatever comes to mind without regard for another person's feelings...these negative comments are to be IGNORED...you KNOW you are doing well...keep on keeping on!

Hi,glad you are back and your head is sorted(mine never has been!!)I won't even tell you how much weight i have put on.I need to get back in the routine of getting on the treadmill again.I was on it on thursday but my heart was'nt in it.I've had another bad day today i just had to try the new double choc cadbury' bar.I wish that i never bothered ,it was sickly sweet, that serves me right.What i need right now is a good telling off from you,to put things into prospective,7 weeks and counting to the wedding yikes!!.We still have'nt got the bridesmaids dresses for my older daughter and my neice, as my neice is being very fussy, she is nearly 16 and knows what she wants!!Going to have another look in Preston tomorrow.Anyway speak to you shortly,and in a better frame of mind.Bye 4 now,Julie

Good grief! Well obviously she noticed your weightloss, by mentioning it. But as soon as those words came out, she got jealous and covered her initial shock with that stupid "pale" comment. Get some manners woman!!

I've had people tell me to stop losing weight too...mainly coworkers and even my own sister. Before we got skinny, they didnt didnt feel threaten. But now that we've worked diligently and have succeeded tremendously on our weightloss, their attitudes towards us (and sometimes themselves) change. We are a threat to them now.

Anyway, when someone says something negative about my weight, I ignore it or say something that lets them know that their opinion on MY image doesnt really matter. As long as I feel comfortable and happy with my body, those comments will never mean a thing!

Oh, and now that Im pregnant, my younger sister seems less stressed about her own weight issues. I think she was truly afraid that I was going to weigh less than her soon!! Crazy, huh?

Hi everyone, I'm back in the land of the living. I have kept pretty much up-to-date with what you have all been up to and I will start to comment again soon. I have only been in work one day so far this week ( been on leave) but things are still tense. As regards work I have been in a really bad place in my head!! but I am coming out of it again now.

As regards my healthy lifestyle (!!!??!!!) I have been moderately good. Considering how low I have been feeling, I have not binged just gone slightly higher than I prefer with the calories. Macademia nuts have a lot to answer for!!! And why do they taste so good!!! I have also kept up with the exercise, walking both on the treadmill and outside. I actually preferoutside exercise. I feel less constrained outside!!!

I have fasting blood tests tomorrow. I have been trying harder to keep up the polyunsaturated fats to help my 'good' cholesterol, but eating lots of fat just seems to go against the grain!!Even when it is good for me. It also means less calories available for other stuff!!!! Oh well, I will see how it affects my blood test results and if they are good, I will keep it up. No weigh in for me this week, my next weigh in is on 15th of the month.

I am going now, time for bed. It's great to be back updating on here. I missed you guys, even though it's only been a week. I'm glad to be back. Catch up with you all soon :o)

Hey! I've been addicted to Almonds lately... they are so good, but 7 cals per nut... eat a handful of those suckers and you ate 105 ish calories. And since you can't just stop at ONE handful... lol... by the time i'm done munching on them i'm about 525 in the whole... lol... Sometimes i never learn. :) I am really glad that Armando is Challenging me. I think i need this. I excited to go back to the gym. :) Good luck to you!

Hey everybody :o)

Cant wait until tomorrow to finish work. It is a Bank Holiday in the UK on Monday so a lot of people (including me) are off work. I have decided to tag an extra days holiday on to mine to make it a really long weekend.

I am a bit depressed at the moment. There is a lot going on at work and my team, in particular, are feeling under the cosh at the moment. We have a meeting tomorrow with management to try and reassure us that they care!! My morale is at its lowest since I started working there in 2000. This makes me feel sort of restless. If I am missing from here for a few days, dont worry!! I will be back!! I just think that I cant concentrate enough to be sympathetic to other people. I'm not being awful. I love this site and want everybody to succeed. I just have other things occupying my mind at the moment. The very last thing I want to do is jeopardise my current healthier lifestyle but I need to get these problems at work out of my system too!!

If I dont update , and comment for a few days, I will probably still be lurking in the background seeing how you are all going on. I will be back in a few days. Take care of yourself, folks. Bye for now, Anne :o)

Hi fellow DDers!!!

I didnt update last night because I went to the theatre to see 'The Producers'. It was hilarious. Peter Kay was in it, which probably means very little to you girls from the USA, but McWoo will know who I'm talking about. I was hoping to get home early enough to get online, but we got stuck in the multi-storey parking because of the theatre emptying out, so it was not to be.

Anyways, the good news is that i had lost two and a half pound when I weighed in yesterday morning. This is the loss for a two week period, but I am stilll pretty pleased with it. Only another four pounds and I will be out of the obese BMI category. People at work dont believe me when I say I am still officially obese. I think this is because they are still used to me at my biggest, and they see the difference rather than how big I still am. I have been pretty good today, but not had time to exercise. Will do some tomorrow. I was just watching a programme about skinny celebrities and it has put me right off trying to be skinny.

I havent had time to read diaries and comment tonight but I promise I will catch up ASAP. Thanks to people for advice on increasing 'good' cholesterol levels especially Sweetpea for the links to sites. They are very informative. Have a good day :0)

It is amazing when you see the obese range, you are right most people are conditioned to think of normal when we are really obese. And then some people hold their weight well, you are one of them...lucky you.

I tried to watch "the producers" but the movie version, got about 1/2 hour into it and stopped, it did nothing for me, maybe the live production is better.

Hi Greengirl,

About cholesterol - There was a time when the LDL (bad) was too high, but balancing it out was an extremely high HDL (good). It's always over 100 whereas the LDL is usually borderline which doesn't concern my doctors because of the good effect a high HDL has. With me it's something genetic, and must be a recessive gene because my father and brother died at 55 partly because of cholesterol problems.

I can't advise you as to how to increase your HDL because mine has always been naturally high, but I've made a point to cut out fats and concentrate on the "good" fats.

Hi everyone :0)

I have had another stressful day at work. We are really working under pressure. Also, I have had to go to the doctors today for an appointment with the lady doctor. She's impressed with my weightloss and the fact that I havent payed for a diet club, or advice. However!!! My cholesterol levels are low BUT my good cholesterol level should be a bit higher!! Advice from anyone who has dealt with this particular problem would be very warmly welcomed. I have to have another set of full bloods including a fasting bloodtest for cholesterol on the 10th of May so advice on upping the 'good' cholesterol before then please :) .

It has been a beautiful day here in sunny Manchester, uk and it makes you feel glad to be alive. Yesterday my daughter and I walked to my sisters again (2.44 miles) and then we all went out and took her baby granddaughter for a walk (probably another mile and a half). I hope you will all keep your fingers crossed for my daughter this week, as she starts more than a month of exams for her GCSE's. First one is a German oral exam on Wednesday. She needs some good results to get into the sixth form college of her choice.

I have to go now as I promised my son that I would press some trousers for him, for a night out tonight. Have a great week ladies. By the way tomorrow is my fortnightly weigh-in. I'm not expecting great things but any loss is a loss :)

Geevee had alot of success lowering her cholesterol as she went along. One person I know cut out cheese and beef entirely for a period of time and had good results. Oat bran is touted as lowering total, but increasing good I'm not so sure about. I'll consult one of my "home remedy" books and see what's there of interest and get back to you soon.

Oh, that's odd! I didn't realise that low cholesterol could be a problem. They say things like nuts and olive oil have "good" cholesterol, don't they? Basically any healthy fats. Go get yourself a jar of peanut butter - mmm, mmm, yum!!

Thanks for your comment about my impending doom. I did think of trying to come up with some medical excuse for skipping the wedding, but my family doesn't know about my health condition, and worst of all, my cousin is a doctor! So there's no pulling the wool over her eyes. I was really hoping I could get pregnant this summer, because I can always use that as an excuse, even if it seems unreasonable to them, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it's going to happen!

In a much better mood today. The sun is shining and I did catch up on some of my sleep.

Today I have had plenty of exercise. Went shopping twice with hubby and as we dont drive that means plenty of walking. Also I got on the treadmill for 60 mins and walked 6.1 km (about 3.8miles). This included warming up and chilling down at the end so the pace was fairly brisk. probably used up about nearly 400 calories. I am going to weigh myself on the 1st of May. I've decided to weigh myself on the 1st and 15th of each month to try and lose my obsession with thescales. I am getting better about it, but last week I did jump on my sister's scales, and I was weighed at the doctors too!!!

Hiya,My sister got the dresses from Debenhams,they where a real bargain Jasper Conran.She phoned me whilst she was in the shop and i told her not to get aged 14,she is in a size10/ 12.She saw some more but they where a little dearer,so i said i would put some money towards them.She went to george in Wigan but she did'nt like them??We went to BHS in Preston but they where �65 per dress there are 6 bridesmaids but they where nice.it was supposed to be a small quiet wedding but you know how it goes.It is 8 weeks monday yikes!!so time is ticking away diet days left.My sister wanted to loose a few pounds before the wedding but she is finding it hard as she is still breastfeeding,and it effects the milk.My hubby is trying so hard to get me into fishing,After 15yrs I don't think i am going to start now.Them maggots turn my stomach for a start,I feel grubby when i go and pick them up in the car.Only one daughter is going(the quiet one)I'm left with the noisey one,she ends up getting bored then starts to being naughty then get's shouted at.Up to now we are going to make some fairy cakes for them to take to school,and NOT in mum's mouth!!It's 9pm now and i am really hot,they say it has been the hottest april for so many years(can't remember how many)A good day for the exercise,Keep it up.have a chilled out Sunday,Bye 4 now Julie.

Hello folks. I have read diaries tonight but commented on very few because I am in such a bad mood I can't think of anything constructive to say to people. I dont even know why I'm in this mood. Admittedly, things are stressful at work at this time of year, and one woman is being a complete **** at the moment, but I dont think it's that.

It could just be that I am tired. Last night I went to see the musical 'Blood Brothers' at the Opera House in Manchester. Six of us went, me, my two sisters, my daughter, and my two nieces. We had a great time, but I didnt get home until 11.30pm and didnt get to bed until after a few chores, but I still had to get up at 5am. Also I was a naughty greengirl!!! At the show I ate a full 200gm bag of chocolate coated raisins. People, we are talking over 800 calories!!! This was on top of a normal day's calories!!! However, as we all know, every day is a new day and today I have kept my calories under control, and walked a couple of miles on the treadmill. I think that if the sun keeps shining, and I get a decent night's sleep tonight, everything will be back to hunkydory tomorrow. I hope so. I dont like feeling like this.

Hi DD friends. If I have missed out your diary tonight I apologise in advance. I was blown away by Sweetpea's good news and couldnt concentrate and then there were so many entries that I ran out of time and thought I'd better just do a quick update before going to bed!!!

Had a good day on all fronts. calories were good, energy levels high. My seven and a half hour working day was busy and time just flew by. When i got home I had time for a quick snack and a cuppa and then I went on the treadmill for about 40mins. I took it easy doing just over two miles at a nice steady pace while watching 'Countdown' on TV. My hubby has bought me some sweetpea seedlings today to put in the garden. I love sweetpeas, they are so dainty and sweet smelling. They make a nice change from some of the fancier stuff that he likes.

good luck to us all in our endeavours and special good luck to Sweetpea at this happy time :0)

Hi everyone. Had a good trip to the doctors. Blood pressure etc spot on. I have another appointment next week with the lady doctor to talk over my menopause symptons. I've been having a few dizzy spells recently that I thought might be caused by my blood pressure being a bit low but it was spot on yesterday. They will try to pin down the cause of the dizziness but it could be anything really. It's gone off a bit now so it might have been a forerunner of the viral thing I had last week. By the way, the practice nurse was totally impressed with my weightloss. Can't wait to see what the lady doctor has to say about it next week.

Back at work today. It is very busy. This is the time of year when we are inundated with books being brought back, and the place is packed with students looking for a quiet place to revise for exams.

I have had a strange day foodwise. I have been eating my usual sort of stuff but feeling hungry when I am usually satisfied. This has led to me eating some houmous on wholemeal bread, and some bourbon cream biscuits on top of my daily calorie total. Now I am p****d off about it but the urge to eat was just too strong. I know it's not the end of the world but it is irritating!!! Oh well, back to normal tomorrow.

Oh I forgot to say that at the doctors I was weighed, fully dressed, wearing jeans ,and I weighed less than I do at home naked!! The nurse said that their scales are callibrated regularly so are fairly accurate. I knew my scales were weighing heavy!!! It makes no difference to how much I have lost, of course, just to how much I actually weigh. Cheered me up no end!! LOL ;O)

Oh, how I love those bourbon cream biscuits!! I haven't bought them in years because I know I won't be able to control myself around them. I am craving them so much right now!

It's funny, I've been having some dizzy spells lately too, especially when I lie down or get up or change my position in any way, really. I was also wondering if it could be due to low blood pressure, but I had mine tested not too long ago and it was normal. Could be because I'm also recovering from some sort of virus, I guess.

What a pleasant surprise at the doctor's office, though! You must weigh a good 2-5 lb less than you thought! Normally when one finds out one's scale is off it always seems to be off in the wrong direction.

Thanks for the comment you left me. I totally forgot about the London marathon this weekend! I couldn't have watched it anyway, as I was holed up in a crappy hotel in Mulhouse. They were showing some European weight-lifting competition on T.V. - that was it. But I was on the Eurostar train to London on the day of the Paris marathon and the train was packed with runners wearing their marathon T-shirts! I was a little envious of them, I can tell you!

Hi,brill news on the blood pressure.I suffer from high blood pressure but it tends to come down when i loose weight.That is why i have muzzy heads??I am supposed to take tablets for the rest of my life the doc said,but i never went back for anymore.I love bourbons and custard creams i like scraping the filling out with my teeth, how disgusting!!In fact i love any biscuits.Don't get too peeved about your little binge,look what i have been like,TERRIBLE.Bye 4 now,Julie

It sounds like you and I are headed the same way with our eating habits, good for us. I like the sound of this 50/50 better than all one way or the other...I will soon start posting my food intake daily but for now I need to get a handle on what that looks like. Hi everyone. I am feeling much better than I was so thanks for all the sympathy. I will still mention how I have been feeling when I am at the doctors tomorrow. Today Sarah and I went to my sisters and walked there by a slightly different route. It was 2.44 miles (according to Mapmyrun.com) and we did it in 45 minutes which isnt too bad when you consider that we traverse a river valley from one side to the other which is quite hilly on both sides.

I have had to do the ironing tonight (despite being less than 100% fit) which is my least favourite job. Someone has to do it though!!! No official weigh in day this week but I admit to jumping on my sisters scales today!! I wont count it tho'. I will wait until the 1st of May for my next weight update.

Hi greengirl! I'm sorry to hear you've been unwell. Hope you're feeling better now.

You know, I am very annoyed at all those people hinting that your weight loss has made you more susceptible to illness. I'm sure they're all just jealous! My Dad has also started constantly referring to me as "frail" and "fragile" just because I've lost weight. Never mind the fact that I've been exercising and getting fit for the first time in my life, and that I've improved my diet so much from the days when all I ate was cheese toast and chips!
