Hi everyone, sorry I have been missing for a few weeks. Don't worry I have been keeping up the good work I started in January and am now 23 pounds down and I have put  my weight back on view. It's a bit embarrassing to admit that I had put so much weight back on after loosing it in 2006-2007 but I have to have it all out in the open again. If I dont I could just put it back on again. This time I want to keep it off for the sake of my poor knees !!!

I have put up my original start weight again.  From now on I will make Friday my weigh-in day. If I weigh more often than once a week I start to get stressed about the numbers but if I weigh less than once a week I start to think that cheating is acceptable !!!  Once a week it is , then !!!

Progress as of today: 33.5 lbs lost so far, only 43.5 lbs to go!

Hey Greenie! This is my first day back as a public diarist (was posting privately for a while) and am glad to see you are back as well. :)

Congrats on the weight loss! As for when to weigh in, you gotta do what works best for you. And it sounds like once a week is perfect for you.

helloooooo greengirl! nice to see a post from you. i only check diaries time to time now....and sometimes i even forget to write one of my own. i feel better not obsessing as much. usually when i forget to write, i am having a very good day and was just not around to write one...but i still think diet diaries is a way for us not only to discuss our food habits, but to relieve stress and tension, get advice, and think.

i am SOOOOO glad to hear of your weight success. guess what!? i'm doing well too. :-) remember we were both struggling? well, i'm not struggling anymore.

i have a very healthy approach...there is NOTHING off limits. I eat what i want. serisouly. i am still working on not overeating, but i'm doing FAR better with this. :-)

and, with me, if my calores are 2200 or something, that is more normal. i no longer even have a lot of 1500 days, for it seems that is too low.

i am having weight loss. it's slow, but i'm happy.

Awesome - brave girl. I understand. It takes alot to get going again. I am hoping I can remember. We were both doing great in 2007 and we can AGAIN. I hear you about the knees. Even a little too much weight is murder on the knees and other joints. Another good motivation for us! God bless. Holly

Hey everyone, hope you are all OK.  On my weigh-in yesterday I had lost one pound. I have been expecting the weightloss to slow down and this week it has :-(.  Don't worry, I am still pleased to be one pound down !  In fact if I lost one pound a week for the next year I would be ecstatic LOL !

I had a piece of good news today. I have passed the first exam I took for my British Sign Language course. YAY !!!  I thought I had fluffed it because when the examiner tirned on the DVD camera my mind went a complete blank and I don't remember the half of what I did. Fortunately I must have done enough to pass

I have had a good week with the exercise this week , and the sun has been shining as well (although it has still been bitterly cold) so I am feeling pretty perky. The spring flowers are starting to spring at last and it makes me feel happy :-)

Progress as of today: 17 lbs lost so far, only 2 lbs to go!

Weighed myself again this morning and I have lost another 2 lbs probably helped a little by a stomach bug I picked up last week.  That's 16 down since 11th January so I'm not complaining.  When I have lost 20lbs I will bite the bullet and put my actual weight up for all to see !!  I don't have a problem losing the weight. My problem is keeping it off !!  I disappoint myself time after time by putting it back on.    Hope you are all staying strong and having a good week. PS Where are you Jules ??

Hello everyone,

I missed catching up with my diary on Monday, but I did weigh myself and I had lost another 2lbs which means I am well on my way towards my second weightloss target. When I reach my second target I will put my weight back up on my blog, and also put up my originall start weight .I am very pleased with my weightloss so far . The reason I have been out of touch this week is that I have had a bit of a virus, and have been getting to bed early after work instead of trawling the internet at night.

I hope you are all doing well. The weather here in the Uk has been pretty awful again recently and I am so looking forward to the warmer weather coming in Spring. This week was the first time I actually set out for work in daylight and also came home from work in daylight too. YAY!! I can't wait for longer days.

I have taken a couple of days holiday so I can have a long weekend. I am really feeling my age at work now!! It does mean however that I can have a good four days exercise on the treadmill without feeling  too tired

I appreciate your comments--we certainly can be our own worst enemies on occasion:-) When I started this diary I had never dieted or really even tried to lose weight, and I didn't expect to still be writing after all this time--it really is a journey with all the ups and downs of any process I suppose. I've restarted time and again--and I know that represents defeat to some, but if it has to be, well that's how it is! (The first couple of restarts seemed to feel like defeats, but not any more--it's sort of a way of life for me!)

I'm glad you're back in the swing of things--if nothing else it sure beats the alternative:-)

Hey everyone, I'm back for my weekly update and I'm down another 2 lbs. At last I can feel the difference in my clothes with my usual work trousers feeling too loose so I have dug out the next size down from my extensive wardrobe and they are feeling good !! I have at least 5 (yes that's five!!) different sizes in my wardrobe and I have bought all of them within the last four years.  I know that's bad but at least this time I am back on the way down instead of my weight going up.

At weekend I managed to get on my new treadmill both Saturday and Sunday, on Saturday I did 40 minutes on a programme that is called weightloss and takes you moderately gently up and down the various inclines. When I'm on the inclines I tend to reduce the speed in order to nurse my arthritic knee.  On Sunday I did a programme called rolling hills (even more gently on the inclines) for twenty minutes, and then just walked on the flat for another twenty minues. Walked just over two miles in the forty minutes. I am feeling better for the exercise already. Hopefully by summer I will be ready for some proper outdoor walks :-)

Good evening everyone. I'm sorry that I've been missing for the past few days but it's been a strange few days sinnce my last update. First I will get the latest weigh-in out of the way. I  managed to lose a further 2lbs when I weighed in on Monday morning and therefore met my first target of 10 lbs lost   Yay for me . My second target is another 10lb loss. When I reach the next target which I am allowing myself six weeks to reach, I will celebrate by putting my weight back onto my public profile :)

Today I had to take an exam for my British Sign Language course. I was fine last week when I did the mock exam with my tutor but today when she turned the camcorder on to film the test I froze like a deer in a car's headlights and my mind went completely blank.  I had to sign for the examiner to clarify, and repeat her signing lots of times, and I'm sure we didn't cover half the stuff that I was supposed to do. Unfortunately it can take a few weeks before we get the results of this first exam so the chances are I will have taken a second one before I know the results of this one. I can only keep my fingers crossed. 

I hope you are all doing well with you efforts, and will try and catch up with diaries soon. In the meantime I will love you and leave you, Anne

Sorry about the testing that didn't go so well~performance anxiety is something so many of us have~We can know the material like the back of our hand, but when testing or performance is thrown in~it all goes away..temporarily...LOL~Grrrrr..I can so relate!!

Hey everyone, Hope you are all having a good day.

I had my weekly weigh-in this morning and I have lost another 3 pounds. I am almost at my first target (losing ten pounds). I am going to try my best and lose another 2 pounds this week so I reach my first objective.

I have really enjoyed my first weekend with my new treadmill !! I have only been doing half hour stints and taking it fairly easy, 20 minute miles at the moment, because of my knees. When I have lost more weight and am putting less pressure on the old joints I will up the pace

I'll be back soon, keep up the good work !

I have had a great week this week. Dietwise I have been really good and not given in to temptations along the way, I have fallen in love with my tradmill and enjoyed two fairly gentle walking sessions on that so far, and I had a wonderful girly night out with my family at 'Les Miserables' on Thusday. What more can a girl ask for :-)

Hi everyone,

I had my second weigh in this morning and I have lost another 2lbs :) I am very pleased with the results of my last two weeks of healthy eating. Tomorrow morning my new treadmill is being delivered so that's something to look forward to. On Thursday evening I am going with my sisters and neices to see 'Les Miserables' at the theatre, something else to look forward to. All in all this is shaping up to be a good week. I hope it is a good one for you all, too. Be strong :)

Hey everyone, hope you are all enjoying the start of the weekend :)

I have had a devil of a week at work. It is examination time so the university library that I work in has been absolutely inundated with stressed out students. At exam times we are open 24/7. During the night it is staffed by security staff only but as you can imagine there is a lot of mess left behind by students who have visited during the night. I work on the reception and general enquiries desk so we have a constant stream of students and other visitors with queries. It feels endless. Also at the moment I have a supervisor that it really irritating me. She is only in her 20s and I am 55 and she persists in talking to me in a very patronising manner, as if I was a child. All in all I've not had the best week................. however............ I have has a really good week foodwise. I think I've had one day this week when I've eaten more than 1500 calories but for the reast I've stayed within 1500 YAY !!

Next Tuesday I am having a new treadmill delivered. I'm not intending to go berserk on it because of my arthritic knees. I just plan to use it for some gentle walking exercise. Hopefully, every little exercise will help. Have a good weekend folks :)

Great job! I'm sorry to hear about your supervisor, I had one like that at my last job, they make you feel very silly and small sometimes, it can be pretty lousy! Congrats to surviving exam rush too! That sounds like a huge stressor, give yourself a pat on the back! And you had a great food week! I love when that happens, don't you?

Wow, I am envious about your treadmill, there is no place for me to keep one in my house that I share with two roommates, enjoy it, and know that every moment of activity will do your body good!

As for the supervisor - I don't know if it will help your situation or not, and it's a bit hard to do, but the way I have handled situations like that in the past is to act like I don't really notice that they are talking to me like that. I think people act that way because they are very intiidated by the situation being discussed or by my age and experience. It's a covered, at any rate, for some kind of insecurity that your exchange with them is bringing out. "Poor dear" (tounge in cheek), she is probably afraid she doesn't know an answer or is intimidated at supervising someone of your obvious qualifications!!! LOL! Just another thing for us to "rise above", huh??? Sorry you must deal with that - -but I know you can perservere (sp?) Keep up the good work.

Wow~I bet you ARE really busy at work during this time!!

I hope you enjoy your treadmill as much as I enjoy mine~It makes such a difference in my life to have it RIGHT there..nice and handy~convenience is key for me and working out! NO excuses now!!

Yeh, ease into it..get to know your machine and before you know it, you'll be as addicted as I am!!!
