It's a real quickie tonight because I've got a lot to do. I weighed myself this morning and I'm pleased to tell you that I've lost three pounds in the last week. Yay I'm really chuffed :)  Have managed to keep it up today despite a work colleague bringing in a box of biscuits because it was her birthday !!

Thanks to everyone who commented on my dog photograph yesterday. They are my babies and I love em LOL

hi everyone, I have had another good day foodwise so that makes a full week when I have kept to under 1800 cals a day, and eaten some fresh fruit and vegetables everyday (minimum of 3 portions). I have tried my best to keep up the amount of protein I eat too but find that a bit more difficult. I think I will weigh myself tomorrow and see if I have any results.

Today I made a start with the exercise (yay for me!) by taking the dogs for a walk. I took them out individually as I struggle with them together because Jasper (big and daft but only 16 months old) is all over the place if Kali is there too. It is the first time I have been out with him since the snow came , because I struggle with my arthritic knee when I have the dog out when it is slippy underfoot. I had to leave their walks to my hubby and son. I will upload a picture of the dogs so you can see what I have to contend with :)

Oh I love this pic. I have two dogs, too - black lab - Smokey 90 lbs and Elle collie-shepherd mix 50 lbs. I don't like to take them for a walk together unless I go to the woods where I can let them loose. I'm SO glad you have done a whole week. Goodie! If you weigh tomorrow don't get all hung up on what the scales does or doesn't say.......just yet. You can do it!!

Oh, I love them!! So sweet. I have 3, but they are tiny. I can't take them on my walks as they stop constantly. Plus I'm nervous about big strays or even big neighborhood dogs getting out. So I walk alone, boring but oh well. One at a time gives you two walks, that's a good thing!

Woohoo !! For now the snow has gone. Let's hope that we don't see any more :)

I have had another two good days, foodwise and even after just a few days I am already feeling the benefit of it. For one thing I am feeling much less bloated , particularly in night in bed. Sometimes I would feel full to the point of being uncomfortable and unable to sleep but for the last few nights that feeling has gone away. Yay for me :).  I've got the food issues covered for the moment but I'd really like to get myself organised with some form of exercise schedule. I will start gently I think, but I DO need to get started soon. I miss my treadmill :-(

It's only 5.45pm at the moment but I've eaten nearly 1500 cals so I won't be having much more before bedtime.

It's always rough getting started with exercising during the winter time. Hopefully you can find some form of exercise to start in the mean time! Good luck!

You bring up a good point - more comfortable at night. My sleep has actually improved the last two weeks. I am sure not that I think about it it is because of less pressure in the belly and exercise. Regarding exercise, yes start slowly. What happened to your treadmill? What type of exercise will you start with? Walking? Dancing? Since the snow has gone how is your weather temps? It was downright great here in Kentucky USA yesterday, got to walk outside no ice and with only a fleece pull over on top of my sweater. It is raining cats and dogs today, though!

Great job with your eating! I am a treadmill junkie and i don't know what I'd do without mine! It was nice of you to give it to your daughter in law. Do you have any workout DVD's or anything? They have some good walking ones out now! Hope you had a nice Sunday, and I'm glad you are seeing changes in the way you feel! Eating healthy does make us feel better! Keep it up =)

At last there are proper signs of a thaw setting in here. There are gaps appearing in the ice on the pavements so that walking isn't the extreme sport it has been for the last couple of weeks. We always like to complain about the weather here in the UK. It's one of our national pastimes LOL ! 

On the eating front I have had less than 1300 cals so far today (it's 8.20pm) so I will eat a little more before bedtime. I prefer not to have my calories too low if I can help it. Losing weight slowly is my aim.  I wish I had my treadmill back but I gave it to my son's wife when she was trying to get fitter, as space was becoming an issue in our house and it took up a fair bit of room. Now that I am trapped in the house by bad weather and the dark evenings I regret giving it away. I am going to find all my other pieces of equipment though and get something done by the weekend. I think I have some put away in my hubby's garden shed :-)

I'm off to Sparkpeople now to log my food intake. Will be back soon!

Hi folks,

I have had a good day today. Wednesday is my favourite day of the working week because I get to spend 2 hours doing my sign language class which breaks the day up nicely. I have an exam coming up in 4 weeks. It's only five minuted of signed conversation which is filmed and sent away for marking so it should be OK. I can talk the hind legs off a donkey, even in sign language !!!

On the healthy eating front I have been really good again today and I can feel myself getting back into the swing of it again. Kept my calories under 1500 and don't feel particularly hungry now. I'm off to bed now so I will be back tomorrow :)

BTW we have had more snow today. It was only light but stuck to the ice left from the last fall. Tarnation !!

Hi everyone,

This is a hit and run post tonight. I ended yesterday with about 1800 cals in total. Today I have eaten 1300 so far but will eat a little more before I retire for the night (it's 9pm at the mo). I have to do a little practice tonight before my British Sign Language lesson tomorrow at work, which is why I'm in such a rush. I'll love you and leave you, and be back tomorrow.

Good evening folks, I have made a good start to my new effort. According to Sparkpeople I have eaten 1516 calories so far today (it is 8pm here in the UK)  and I'm planning on having an earlyish night. I haven't  done much exercise apart from struggling to the supermarket on foot, with slushy ice underfoot making it difficult to keep your balance.  Tomorrow I am back to work after a long weekend off and I will try and get some walking in at lunchtime, weather conditions permitting. Otherwise I will be getting my old step out and doing a little stepping to get my metabolism in gear

The temperature here where I am has fluctuated between 0˚C and -9˚Celsius in the last couple of weeks, thats between 16 and 32 Farenheit for you people in the US. The problem with us in the UK is that we usually have an equable climate. Our temperatures are not extreme so we generally have mild winters and mild summers. Consequently when we have either hot summers or cold winters we just don't know how to handle it. The pavements are left full of ice, and snow until the thaw sets in (which seems to be about now, thank goodness).

I will try and update as often as possible and will be trying to get around a few of your diaries to catch up with you soon. I will leave you with another picture from my weekend away. It shows an interesting ice formation where the fountain spray has created ice hills on the frozen pond.

I did no wt trng in December and really my exercise has been very crummy for the better part of 3-4 months--very inconsistent and small. In fact I think it's the least I've done since I started on DDs. I'm slowly getting back in the swing--feels good so far!

Hey people, I'm back at last  . We have finally come to the very end of the Christmas goodies, and I have just returned from a post-holidays holiday so I am in a good frame of mind and ready to get back to business and start my 2010 healthy eating and moderate exercise regimen.  I am newly motivated, and determined to get myself back to a healthier weight and condition. I will be counting calories again and writing it all down - it's the only way that works for me.  I hope that this time I won't lose the weight just to put it back on again as I have in the past.  I won't be writing down here everything that I eat but I may put it on sparkpeople and give you the gist of it.

At the start I intend to aim for ten pound targets. I will leave you with a photo of myself with my eldest sister. It was taken yesterday in a very snowy Royal Leamington Spa. I'm the one on the right. I'm sure that McWoo has told you that we are having the most extreme winter weather for 30 years but yesterday was actually quite nice

Hello Greenie - good to have you back! So excited to hear about your newly found motivation. Me, too! Let's get on with this and see if we can figure out why we gained weight back (i.e. why we reverted to old eating habits again, etc.). That has really aggravated me. I was doing so well. I'm still down a few lbs, but not much! Oh, well, no time like the present.

Hi everyone, I know I have been missing for a while again but in the meantime I have managed to lose another six pounds so I am pretty darn pleased with myself.  I promised myself that if I was very good , and kept to my healthy eating plan until next weekend, I would allow myself to eat and drink anything I want to at my silver wedding anniversary party on the 30th of this month. Our actual anniversary is the day after that but I will be back on the plan by then !!!


I am beginning to fit back into some of the clothes in my wardrobe, and have had one or two comments from people who can tell that I have lost a little weight. I am glad about the clothes , as I have lots of claims on my money at the moment, and anyway I can save money is helpful :)


It has been very exciting in our household recently. My daughter gained good results in her A-levels. They are the exams that british kids take at age 18 in order to be accepted into university. We are very proud of her, as she has worked very hard this year, and now she is going to the University of Bangor, in Wales.  Our party next weekend will also be a farewell to Sarah, and she will be going to uni in the middle of September.


I may be missing again for the next few weeks, but once Sarah has gone to Uni I will have more time to myself and be able to be a more regular visitor to this site. I will be in touch again soon. Keep up the good work !!  And Julie, it's good to see your name back in the posting list :)

I got very upset that the Scarpetta story ended like it did - kind of like well, let's see the book is long enough what can I have happen in the next three chapters that just conveniently tie up the end? I also like James Patterson and Faye Kellerman, but am open to any other suggestions you may have on authors. Hope this finds you well and happy for the new year. Hi everyone, Just a quick update to tell you all that my first week of proper sustained effort at healthy eating proved successful and I dropped 4lbs. Not only that, I have been sleeping much better as well. This results in a much happier Greengirl. Will catch up with you all soon :)

AAAAAAWWWWWWWSome! 4 lbs - great. I have noticed that since I've been eating more balanced and exercising a lot that I'm sleeping much better, although life is stressful right now. HMMMMMMM do you think we are on to something? I have only lost 1.5 lbs in like 4 weeks so you are doing great.
