Thank you for the welcome backs.  I am going to start posting my food today - warning - it will be MUCH more than I used to eat -- but I plan to taper off gradually to less calories and healthier choices over the next 3-4 weeks. I can't stress myself out by trying to go into better habits too quickly.  So easy does it gradually.  More later, but so far:

Coffee with natural bliss vanilla and stevia, one roll with raspberry jam, 2 fried eggs

Bowl of homemade vegetable soup. carrots and hummus

dark choc caramel pretzel bark - Lg piece

kettle corn

It is warm, but raining. Nothing like the sunny 70 degrees we had yesterday - what a wonderful Feb day.  It's supposed to snow by Thursday!  Mark is going out of town tomorrow morning and will return on Thursday night.  It should be a good week for me to eat well and exercise.

Looking at my last post - on November 8th - Rosalie's birthday - I am so sad.  Work only got worse from there - a little breather now.  As I had posted earlier - I plan to quit in May when specific financial goals are met and they should be - fingers crossed. But it is scary.  Bottom line is I am VERY stressed at work and unhappy and have totally let myself go - have gained weight and not exercising AT ALL - which just is just not like me!!!  I have to make changes NOW!  On top of work stress I have been sick since before Thanksgiving - on antibiotics twice and steroid  more recently for acute bronchitis and sinusitis.  Hopefully am on the mend now, but still have cough and very low energy.  I walked today and that is a big deal.  I need you guys here on the DD site!  I will try to post everyday. I have been gone too long - although miss everyone and think about posting often.  Gotta start from somewhere and it has to be now. :-)

I was happy to see your name back on here.

Welcome back good to hear from you.

grannyannie on 02/21/2016:
Nice to see you back, Holly.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 02/21/2016:
So good to have you back.

So sorry that life isn't working at all how you'd prefer it would. I have seen those days myself. I wish you to be happier and that work gets better and I hope you will start to be able to exercise soon when you feel better.

I always dread being sick because it makes it so I have to debate if i'm well enough to work out. And actually, just recently, I was sick and run down and had to skip a workout myself. so I wish you better, so you can start to heal & exercise and work on yourself.

I'm still here.  Work is too busy right now - no time to post.  It won't let up for several months more.  I hope to get a break for Thanksgiving and Christmas. 12 hour days 3 days last week - no cooperation from staff and I am about done with the whole thing.

I am not doing great on food or exercise.

Today is Rosalie's 2nd birthday!  Time flies.  She is such a joy.

I am going to rake leaves today before birthday dinner - the city will send trucks to "suck" the leaves up so we won't have to bag them - IF I got the schedule correct.  They post info on the leaf  vaccuming schedule on line but it's hard to understand - city government speak, I guess.

Hope all DD posters are having a great weekend.  Hang in there I'll check back in when I can!

grannyannie on 11/08/2015:
Happy 2nd birthday to Rosalie! Enjoy your day.

OhioRaven on 11/08/2015:
Hope things improve for you.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/09/2015:
I am excited for the holidays too :-D a nice break from work, and time spent with family & friends.

Happy bday to Rosalie.

When you get a break, food & exercise will be easier. With that said, I recommend you try to take things day by day. Have a good day, HB.

thinkpositive on 11/09/2015:
That's a tough schedule! Hard to concentrate on food & exercise under those conditions.

I haven't posted for a week!  Wow!  It's been a pretty good week.  I didn't overeat any day except yesterday when we went to family Bonfire.  I didn't really over eat by that much because I didn't eat much otherwise all day but I had lots of dessert samples. I am not eating to lose weight right now.  I'd just like to maintain for awhile before I think about losing.  I can't take another responsibility at the moment. I think that is OK.  I am realizing my feelings and acting accordingly and that is somewhat powerful. I am OK with that.  It is a beautiful Fall day here in KY.  Yesterday was good.  Bonfire was on cousin's mini farm and it was great weather.

Going to go on a short bike ride today.

More later.....

grannyannie on 10/11/2015:
Well done, Holly! Have a great Sunday.

Umpqua on 10/12/2015:
It sounds like you're doing really well! Thanks so much for the instructions, I've made a note and we'll have to try out the biscuits soon!

hollybelle on 10/17/2015:
Good! Enjoy!

Maria7 on 10/12/2015:
My Hubby and I LOVE KY! Bet the leaves on the trees are already turning beautiful colors there! :-D

hollybelle on 10/17/2015:
They are starting to turn, Maria. My invitation to come on over to KY and visit us! It will probably be another week or even two before they are really colorful. It was been so super wet and then so super dry - I'm not sure how pretty the leaves will be this year. It's always a surprise!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 10/14/2015:
Ahhh, desserts! They are certainly a killer lol and I do try to stay away from them! anyways, enjoy your beautiful day in KY! It's beautiful here in NY as well!

Baby's skin is some better - still terrible, though, not as bad as two days ago.  Bless her little heart.  She was so sweet at the family get together.  Playing with other kids. She is a charmer.

I didn't do badly at the restaurant - really didn't like the food -so no real temptations.  I did have one big piece of cake and it was delicious if I do say so - since I made it - two layer German Chocolate - totally homemade.  :-)  It was all eaten up so no worries about left overs.

I had a big breakfast today. Two sausage and biscuits.  They are very small I make them special - from scratch and a biscuit with jam and an egg

Going to clean up bedroom and do laundry.  Sorting clothes for Fall vs Summer and putting stuff away for the season.

Baby girl may make an appearance later today.

puddles on 10/04/2015:
Wow you have been busy. Have a great evening.

hollybelle on 10/05/2015:
Thanks Puddles.

Umpqua on 10/05/2015:
Oh my, I would love to sample your cake and your homemade biscuits. That's one thing none of my Yankee friends can make, in fact we rarely see it on a menu up here. I'm glad Rosalie's skin is improving and she's doing well!

hollybelle on 10/05/2015:
Your "Yankee friends" ??? LOL! Cracked me up. What on earth do you eat for breakfast? That is a joke. I will be glad to give you recipe for cake and icing. The biscuits are only semi homemade - I use a biscuit mix - just like my homemade - but easier. Secret to biscuits is don't over work them and cook them hot - 450 degrees. I like them thin and crunchy on outside and soft inside. OK enough recipe talk - now I'm hungry!

horn_of_plenty on 10/05/2015:
I am so glad that baby girl is doing better :) you must feel so much better too!

Glad to hear the restaurant was a success for you. I also had some pie last night but not homemade like yours. It was excellent though, and I admit maybe I shouldn't have tasted it! I should have just stuck to the Italian cookie...with me, I never really feel good after having something high in carbs, I just tend to get s big crash and then bigger cravings for more sweets the next morning..

hollybelle on 10/05/2015:
Thank you - she is better. I hear you about carbs / sugar and crash! I did OK Sat night because I spread it all out and didn't have too high calorie count over all - around 1800.

biscottibody59 on 10/05/2015:
Ooh--German Choc Cake--haven't had (or made) one in years. Glad your G'baby is improving with the skin thing!

Umpqua on 10/06/2015:
LOL, well yeah, us Northerners here have no clue about biscuits. At least that type! Sounds wonderful, please share the recipes when you get a chance. My girlfriend and her son are coming to stay this weekend and I'd love to make a few treats!

hollybelle on 10/11/2015:
I'll send you the cake and icing recipe on FB message. The biscuits are just Bisquick Mix and it's like I said - don't over work. Just add milk (whole 4% I'm afraid). Use a fork to mix about halfway-ish-just enough to hold together and be really sticky. Shake out some more Bisquick on the counter and scrape your sticky dough onto the mix on the counter. Shake out some more mix on top and knead lightly about 4 times. roll out to about 1/4 inch thick an cut out bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 450. Some people like them crowded into a pan, but I like the sides to be crunchy! I don't know the portions - there are directions on the box, so that should help with portion of milk to mix....

This week has been pretty stressful.  The baby was over Thursday night and I gave her a bath.  All I can say is her skin is awful, awful, awful!  You just can't imagine.  It is healing but she has great big patches that are nothing but scabs on her wrists and knees and so much of the rest is covered in big patches of blood red scales.  The ONLY good thing about it all is that she seems to be in a good mood and not in pain, although I don't know how!  THANK you for all your supportive comments!

Anyway - I haven't exercised  much this week - short walk on Tuesday and Thursday.  My eating, on the other hand has been good.  I tend to do fine if  have soup on hand in the cooler weather.   Made Bean Soup and Cauliflower Soup this week. Having soup with small piece of cornbread and or salad is very satisfying to me.

Going to NKY for birthday celebrations today - Rachel and Will and Baby Rosalie going with us!  Next weekend going up again for Bonfire potluck.  That is always a good time - if it doesn't rain. Both will include lots of food and drink.  I can make good choices on the food - probably - LOL-and the drink is never a problem for me!  One of the birthday celebrations is for my Mother-in-Law.  She will be 74.  After her serious illness 3 years ago - on her birthday, I might add!  We are so happy to be celebrating with her.

Baby girl is coming at 9:00 this morning for a couple of hours while her mom runs a 5k downtown.  We might go see her if it is dry - but slim chance.  Hope to get a walk with stroller in while she is here but again depends on weather.

OR took his stair climber to work - I am inspired to get on elliptical trainer in my basement and see how the old back holds out on that.  Back has improved!  OH Goodness looking at this post - I sound like and OLD lady!   gotta do something about this!  :-)

grannyannie on 10/03/2015:

Well, here I am again.  Picture day didn't go well - still no pics.  The work lady cancelled because of rain.  I took her to J C Penneys - just to try to get some pictures. No dice.  She wouldn't let me put her down anywhere near the picture posing set!  We even watched another baby get it's picture taken!  It gets worse from here.  Rosalie has super sensitive skin. She has had some degree of eczema since she was born.  The outfit I put her in to have pic taken caused an allergic reaction even though it had been washed prior to her wearing it - I didn't wash it.  It was a hand-me down - very cute and apparently my thought that since it was used and not new it would be OK to put on her.  She ran a fever, her little legs looked like they were blistered and we had to call the after hours pediatrician!  Two RXs later.......doctor thought it was probably contact dermatitis, but she had been on an antibiotic (penicillin based) and the RX they gave her today was non-penicillin based.  I cried last night - this morning.  To think I had contributed to this.

Anyway -making cauliflower soup now -  made bean soup earlier.  Going to be a soup kind of week.  Lots of exercise this weekend.....two big long walks pushing stroller and running errands.  Eating - fine.  Going to have a piece of pumpkin cake - no icing type cake tonight.  Here's to a better week.  I hate to think about going back to work tomorrow.  If I can just make it until May!

thinkpositive on 09/27/2015:
So sorry about little Rosalie's rash. Poor little girl. I can certainly understand why you feel so bad about it but you had no idea about the outfit. A soup week sounds like a good idea!

Umpqua on 09/28/2015:
xx Don't blame yourself, that was a weird allergic reaction that you couldn't have predicted. Jake (my older son) has eczema and it was worse when he was a baby and toddler. It has steadily improved along with his seasonal allergies and he can just put Aquaphor on his dry patches now. I hope it's a better week for you!

horn_of_plenty on 09/28/2015:
Are you retiring in May? May will come before you know it. I feel the same way about April for my sister's wedding - I hope to make it until then lol!

Sorry to hear about Rosalie but don't take it too much to heart. I hope the baby gets better soon :)

Glad to hear you were able to get the exercise in. After not really walking for months, I did it (a bit too much for my current fitness level) and I feel it helps a ton in burning calories :). I also feel that doing moderate activity probably helps regulate appetite..

Soup is always a great choice! My mom always makes a wonderful chicken vegetable soup..

Maria7 on 09/30/2015:
You never know...don't blame yourself, Holly. I hope she is doing much better today. Hope you have a real good day today, too. :-D

Thanks for your comments.  Sorry to be absent for a few days.  I have been doing well for the week.  I have had two long walks already and plan on a couple more this weekend.  I have done OK on food - not too many "treats" really nothing big.  This work week can't end soon enough!  Unbelievable stuff.

Going to try to get Rosalie's picture again on Saturday.  We'll see how it goes!  I am using a lady from work who takes pictures in her spare time.  She has done some cute ones of other employee kids that turned out well.  So hope she can get a few of Rosalie!

Umpqua on 09/25/2015:
I'm glad things are going well on the food end. Good luck with the photos this weekend, I know that can be a challenge! :)

Didn't get to post yesterday - had baby girl for 3 hours again last night - won't take time to post foods from yesterday - but it was a good food day.  No problem at night since I hardly get to eat when Rosalie is here.  Husband's minor surgery on Wed went well, but he did get a black eye as a result - surgery was on his forehead-skin issue.  He can't walk dogs until tomorrow -so I have been walking them by myself - keeps me active.

Today I made Umpqua's carrot soup with tomatillo relish.  A Fall tradition for the last several years.  Delicious!  Walked the dogs early and will have Rosalie for a few hours around 2:30 today.  She is so much fun now!  Talking and walking and starting to feed herself more.  Mark asked her if she wanted him to read a book to her and she pointed to the desk and said "glasses" because she knows he has to go get his glasses before he can read to her!  LOL!

Have a good day everyone!  Will post food later or tomorrow!

B:  LF WW Waffle with honey

L:  Carrot Soup, tortilla chips and guacamole Tea

D:  Parmesan encrusted tilapia, more soup and Lemon pie!!!  Tea

Walked 2 miles and chased baby girl around the playground for about an hour!

Maria7 on 09/19/2015:
I had wrote something on your other entry and when I sent it, your today's entry just came up, hahaha! Sounds like you are having fun with your Grandaughter. She is so smart! :-D

Maria7 on 09/19/2015:
Are you still getting scupponong grapes?

hollybelle on 09/20/2015:
Hi Maria! I have eaten them over the last month several times. The last time, I wasn't sure it was caused by grapes, but my mouth broke out. It was kind of affected for about a week! I LOVE the grapes and the muscadine grapes, too. I'll wait and see what happens next year when I get them! How are you doing?

Happy that you are able to enjoy her in just the right amounts lol! Glad you have the energy and spirit to enjoy her and spend time with her - that is the best. Today I didn't do that well at work because I didn't eat enough during the early part of the day and had a grab fest on sesame honey chews (kind of like candy).  I ate 10 of them - but they are tiny.  I am not sure of the calories - will look it up.

B:  Coffee 1/2 C brown cow maple yogurt 1/4 C hemp and flax seed granola

L:  apple and 2T peanut butter

S:  10 sesame chews - Turns out they have only about 10 cals each!  so not bad!

D:   1/2 small boneless pork chop baked with some panko bread crumbs and Italian dressing seasoning, 1/4 C mashed potatoes 1 C greens with Asian dressing

No exercise as I was whipped when I got up this morning to begin with and we had baby girl for about 3 hours right after work and went to bed early!

Tomorrow is FRIDAY!  Going to walk Friday night AND Sat morning and want to clean bedroom drawers and closet and get ready for FALL!

Umpqua on 09/18/2015:
Nice job keeping your serving sizes so small, especially at dinner. I probably eat double that on a regular night and could easily do more! I am SO ready for fall this year, waiting for the weather to cooperate. Hope you have a nice weekend!
