Yesterday was OK on food - and I exercised. One hour bike ride in 90 degree weather no less. We probably went about 6 miles - alot up hill - not too bad for first time out. My shoulder did OK and I am not at all sore today! Going for a walk tonight and have church group.

Thanks for all the comments. Lots going oon at home and at work. I'll catch up with my posts by the weekend.

God bless you all.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Beth201P on 06/05/2008:
Way to go. Sounds like you are getting that exercise in. I am proud of you. Keep it up.

mmuraro on 06/05/2008:
Good job in keeping active. Thanks for your message too. You know, you are right, i think I did great at the beach and if i hadnt been doing not so great in the last month, the beach trip would have been perfect as for what I had. This was at Saint George Island in FL. I am pumped up and ready to start losing again. thanks for being there. xo

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/05/2008:

Wow, you were brave to do an hour biking in 90 degrees heat! Hope you are having a wonderful day today, Hollybelle!

Beth201P on 06/06/2008:
Thank you so much for the advice. I wish I could use that on my foot, but I had a chunk of my heel taken off. There is a hole there. I have been putting medicine in the hole and putting a bandage on to try and keep out dirt. Thanks again. You have a great day. ((Hugs))

WI3 on 06/06/2008:
So happy your shoulder is starting to feel better! And WTG on all that bike riding in the heat WOW!!! (((((((((hug))))))))) have a great evening!

Hello everyone. Trying to adjust to the Summer schedule now that school is out. The starter on daughter's car gave out so had to replace that - $373 for those interested. She's paying $150. She has been helping me with housework this week. I am paying her for it based on how well she does....so far so good. She is to start work tomorrow night. Hope that goes well. I hope she can make enough money to pay for her gasoline and to save, etc. Also she will need new dance costumes when she and her partner compete this summer and fall and those are very expensive.

I have been doing OK on food and no too bad on exercise. I'm going for a bike ride tonight - will see how well the shoulder hold up.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 06/04/2008:
like whoa! school is out! We've got THREE more weeks! You Kentucky folk have it WAAAY to easy! I'm totally just kidding with you. I'm sure you probably start ealier in the year. We start after labor day on Long Island/New York.

That's nice of you to help your daughter out with the car. It's so difficult for kids to find any good work anymore! I think it's a great idea to pay your daughter. why not!?

maria777 on 06/04/2008:
Your bike ride sounds real good! Hope you have a good evening, Hollybelle.

thinnsidenotout on 06/04/2008:
Our kids are out next Thursday...... Mickey's son just had to replace the radiator & water pump on his new wheels...Had his license for 3 weeks...He too is having to "work off" some debt.... Looking for a job and having troubles finding one.....

A bike ride sounds refreshing....Have a good time!

WI3 on 06/04/2008:
OUCH car repairs are so dreadfully expensive! How nice that she is working and becoming an independant young woman!

Beth201P on 06/04/2008:
I know what you mean about summer. It is getting busy in my world also. I am going to be starting to help out more at church. I am looking forward to it. Have a wonderful bike ride. Hope everything works out for your daughter.

Last night I went nuts because I bought these little european cookies like the ones they give after a massage and I ate almost the whole package. They are just excellent with coffee. I know cookies are one of my weaknesses - can't stop eating them, generally, if they are a kind I like. Even so I didn't really go much over calories since that was basically my dinner!!! And I didn't eat badly the whole rest of the day. Still no motivation for exercise. I will get on ET tonight at least for 15 minutes. I promise myslf!! I also have to dye the visors for our Relay for Life team. I am behind on that project. Also in the news at our house - daughter says she is going to "break up" with boyfriend. Doesn't seem to be a big drama she says she just wants to be unemcumbered this summer and next year - senior year. Boyfriend is going away for 9 weeks this summer to a music school in Massachusetts and he is planning to go out of state for college next year. I think it's going to be a bigger deal than she thinks. They have been best friends for over 2 years. I knew it wouldn't last forever, but I am nervious because he is such a nice boy and we have gotten so close with his parents. Especially his mom and me. I don't want to deal with any emotional drama, I don't want her to be sorry later and I don't want her to have "yucky" boyfriend!! That all for now. Have a successful day. More later. Have a Blessed day, everyone!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

I have items I just can't eat otherwise I go way over board also. Well I hope it all works out for your daughter. Good luck. Have a great weekend.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/30/2008:
the elliptical is so awesome! it's so much better for your knees/ankles than walking or running! :)

WI3 on 05/30/2008:
Hi, Holly! Glad that the daughter is being very practical about the boyfriend thing, the teenage drama is no fun lol. Thank you for checking on me, you are a sweetheart! Take care =)

greengirl on 05/31/2008:
OOps I just deleted a great comment to you !! Sorry :) Gist of it was, glad your daughter is being so mature about this :) Now lets get back down to business on the healthy eating front. We can do it !!!

Yesterday was OK, but I overdid it a little with some banana nut muffins I made from a mix for dinner. Daughter had one of her friends over to study and I thought it's be nice to have special bread. That still didn't blow up my calories for the day, though.

I just couldn't make myself exercise, though. I will change that soon. I don't know why I am doing this to myself. I would have made much more progress with just 15-20 minutes walking or on the Eliptical Trainer these last few days. Oh, well, my choice. I can choose otherwise if I want. Need to do it.

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

crategrl on 05/29/2008:
I am a big friend of the sweet breads!! I totally get you on the exercise as I usually beat myself up the next day when I look back and see that I had 15 minutes that I could have spared to at least walk.

thinnsidenotout on 05/29/2008:
I love any quick bread of pretty much any kinds...Mostly Cranberry Orange thought.....Nice of you to oblige the study buddy and just be "mom"....

Good Thursday to you!

Beth201P on 05/29/2008:
I like bread period. LOL Any kind...Ahhhh.. Well I am with you my friend. I need to get that exercise into my life also. We can do it. Have a great day.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/29/2008:

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm trying to stay just ar "normal" level. Not too stringent - not overboard. I can do it.

Yesterday ate a few too many popcicles - 40 cals each, though and broken down for some cereal late - but I felt like I was hungry and needed it.

Egg and toast and 4 oz 1% milk for breakfast today -

I need to exercise. Jut keep putting it off.

I did OK over the weekend all in all. I ate more on Sat & Sun than I do on most days, but didn't really go all that much overboard. I ate a couple of pieces of pineapple upside down cake Sunday at Family get together. Yesterday was lighter eating until evening and I made chicken enchilladas - which were wonderful - kind of made up for the spagetti last week.

I wore the capris from last year all weekend and although they were too tight - they weren't disgusting and severed to keep me reminded that I need to keep my eyes on the prize and good health!

God bless you all - keep me posted!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

mmuraro on 05/27/2008:
Yeah, thanks for what you said. I tend to want to compensate the bad days being extra good and thats just too high to expect. If I expect to just be normal and on track, it probably takes longer to get back but it's easier to accomplish. thanks. xo.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/27/2008:
oh my! eyes on the prize. at least you can fit into your clothes from last year haha! I have LOADS of work to keep doing! :) just keep at it, even if it feels like you aren't going foward. you will.

Re: Ben's haircut too short ~ No it is just right! for dad, mom, g'pa & g'ma.... He is getting used to it... We had let him grow it out over his ears and bangs to the point where he couldn't see anymore without "flipping" his head.... THe skateboarder look these days... HE isn't an avid skateboarder, but has a friend who is and likes the longer hair...He also like the Old Rock-n-Roll bands of the 70's/80's and their hair was about the same...He wore the look pretty well, but playing baseball and wearing a cap just wasn't working very smoothly with the length (can't take your cap off every time your hair gets in your eyes and your the pitcher).....His PaPa cut it just right and not too short.... I can't stand the "buzz" look... Some can wear it, but not most..

Your attitude and outlook is wonderful Holly!...Keep it up and you will be down those "13" in no time!

Soon2BThin on 05/27/2008:
Thanks for the welcome back! It's good to be back here again. Good idea to wear the snug capris for a reminder. I do that sometimes too, although, lately, mine are all way too snug, downright tight!! Have a great Wednesday!

Sparkle on 05/28/2008:
I am dieting because I dont fit into my clothes from last year... Im so jealous you fit into capris from last year, tight or not is irrelevant!! Those things are MADE to be tight anyway, right? The way youre going youre going to have to buy new capris, in a MUCH smaller size!

Yesterday turned out OK. I at some spagetti at dinner and it was awful - even if I did make it! I don't know what happened. The sauce was just not good. Used ground turkey - which I usually do, but it was just kind of yucky.

Today so far ok even though we have big picnic in the neighborhood this evening I am going to think how much better I am starting to feel and only eat a little bit of things that I don't usually have. Will try to go for just the "best of the best". I am starting to love how I feel and don't want to go back. I feel so much lighter - even though I have probably only lost 3 lbs or so - it makes all the difference and I want to keep up the momentum.

Tomorrow we have another big cookout in Northern KY with Mark's cousins. I have made cheesecake brownies to take to both places. It's funny, but I had a bite of them a while ago and I don't even want any more because they were so rich they make me nauseous. Good - hope it stays that way.

Weather is so nice here!! Mark and I took dogs to the Pet Paws self-serve dog wash. We always enjoy how nice they look and SMELL afterwards. The people are nice and it's something productive we can do together.

Hope all are having a great weekend. I probably won't post tomorrow, but will check in Monday! Woo hoo everyone!

Out of town on business yesterday so no post.... :( But the last two days have been fine. I haven't been eating much sweets and believe I feel pretty grounded in my efforts to eat healthily. I don't feel out of control or the need to "graze" so much lately. Also good news on the clothing front. I have another pair of walking shorts on today that actually fit. They are tighter than last year, but not "too" tight at all. I would buy them if they fit like this, at least. They are size 10. I tried on the long denim shorts I have been trying to get into again this a.m. and they are still too tight but not as much too tight as they were. So perhaps there has been progress.

I still haven't been able to exercise much at all. I will walk tonight with husband and dogs, though and plan to every day over he long weekend. I am considering trying a short bike ride tonight or tomorrow as my shoulder seems to be alot better, although there are still certain positions and angles of pressure that sent me up the wall. I can try.

I am planning to catch up on your diaries, too. Hope all is well and wishing everyone a blessed memorial day weekend.

Those clothes fitting as they do is such a gauge on how we are doing... This is why I think I am not so disurbed by the scale moving downwards so slowly anymore, cause the work is showing in the "fit"....

Greetings and salutations everyone!

Thanks for your comments to me and your promise of prayer for daughter. I have been encouraged by some wonderful thoughts today - since I tend to be such a "control freak" (I hate to use that term, it's so overused - but hey, if the shoe fits......) anyway as some of you know I have been trying to live my life in the way God intended. Mostly this has to do with learning to REALLY trust Him, knowing what is my part in it all and knowing what isn't. You know, some of us believe when in doubt DON'T, but my motto has been when in doubt DO IT YOURSLEF and let's just say I have had A LOT of doubt....and needless to say I have taken on a lot of work that just isn't mine to accomplish - I learned a new way to think of it today....I will ask myself if I am operating according to Mt. Sinai or Jerulesem - Am I operating in the Flesh or the Promise? I won't "sermonize" here but trust that sharing this will have meaning for others for whom it is supposed to.

Yesterday was good. I didn't have exercise time, but didn't overeat. I'd say calories were about 1600. I am wearing pants today that had been too tight to be comfortable. While they are not as loose as they were last summer - they fit as well as they did when I first bought them. So I must be making progress. It's funny, but I think since I've been eating about 1600 calories instead of trying to stay down around 1200-1400 I am doing better. Less stress about calories. I may lose slower like this but that's OK if it "feels" better along the way, I think.

That's my entry for the day. God Bless and have success today!

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Beth201P on 05/21/2008:
That you for sharing. I know that there are things in my life that are not in my control. I have to trust God that he will lead me into the right path. It is hard, but we have to have faith that he knows what is best for us. I think you are doing great. Keep up the great work. You have a blessed day!

thinnsidenotout on 05/21/2008:
Patience is a mighty big word that we have to learn to utilize....As women, we tend to think that nobody else can do something as good as we can do it ourselves and do take on many taks/roles that we really shouldn't.... I figure if it isn't going to get done, just do it is a motto that I personally take too.....Often to come back an haunt me for a while...

Relinquish is another big word we need to utilize, especially as Christians... I feel I am in the driver's seat way too often and get told otherwise in many ways. As I have struggles, trials & temptations that I just would not have if I would let go of my worldly flesh "wants", not needs and let the Lord have 100% control. It is something that ALL Christians have to deal with EVERY DAY...Satan is luring about seeking those whom he may devour and we can't let him in.....

I am so thankful that you are here on DD...Your daughter & you are in my thoughts/prayers daily....

maria777 on 05/22/2008:
I sure DO AGREE with what you wrote about us trusting the Lord and how sometimes we get into the flesh thinking we have to do EVERYTHING!!! AMEN!!! Yesterday I believe the Lord told me to REST and that is exactly what I did!

Hope you have a wonderful day today, Hollybelle! Thanks for sharing that with us!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/22/2008:

Yes, I have made the decision about what I want - I want health - so YES! Thanks for all your comments. I know what I want. Was just kind of reminding myself of that on last post.

Took vacation day yesterday and stayed home to get caught up on housework, etc. It was nice, but have some concerns about daughter at this point. As some of you all know she is recover(ing)ed from and eating disorder and was in very dire straits 3 years ago (age 13). Some signs of relapse this week. Please include her in any prayer time - for God's protection and blessings and her continued restoration of mental health. Let her avoid that very slippery slope.

Yesterday was OK. Around 1600 calories - won't post menu some exercise and pretty good attitude - considering...

Progress as of today: 9 lbs lost so far, only 13 lbs to go!

Hey! So great to see you here. I've missed everyone. It's good to hear that you're on track. I'll keep your daughter in my prayers.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/20/2008:
yes, it is a VERY slippery slope. I relapsed into a BAD binge period this year which I am getting out of finally. EDs are stressful, tiring things. I'll pray for her.
