Will be a busy day. I vow to do better today on calories AND to exercise on ET at home. I have to meet with a guy on business a lunch and go pick up some CATS costumes to be worked on at home later today. We are really going to have to pull together if we are going to gt all the costumes ready for the show mid-March. I like working on them usually, though.

Menus so far today:

B; 1 piece toast and jam/coffee 200

L: Corn, Kale, Fried Green Tomatoes, 2 corn sticks w/syrup 550

D: Duch Apple Bagel and Honey Walnut Cream Cheese 530

S: Toast and jam 150

1430 - Better but too much bread.....I did the best I could on Monday. Better today, I think.

I am going to favorite home-cooking restaurant at lunch - vegetables only is my favorite thing there so should be OK. More later.........

You know what - I've been thinking (and we know how dangerous that can be-LOL) there are just pitfalls to this healthy eating thing EVERYWHERE and I have fallen prey to them all this past week! I had Valentine's Day for about 6 days I think! But I resolve to ignore those pitfalls and eat the way I want to - not the way the things around me tempt me to. I will not fall for circumstantial food anymore!

RE: "On the sly"... I always do better unpublicized to extended family/friends....I chose to do it this time for ME and not for the compliments/ego puffer and that IS the biggest difference this time around(final time)....I don't need my closest and dearest asking, so have ya cheated?, still dieting?, looks like you may have lost "a little", etc...more of a downer than an encouragement....and very discouraging when I couldn't tell them how "well" I had been doing, cause of falling off the wagon so to speak... I love being sneaky (in a good sense) and suprises are great! When I fit into that new outfit one of these days....they will know then that I have done it this time and for "ME"... Have a great Monday hb!....

How fun to work on costumes! I am all thumbs when it comes to such things but really think it is fascinating that there are people who DO know how to do things like that lol. Have a great day and enjoy those veggies!

I'm with WI2 - the ONLY class I failed in school - sewing! HA! I couldn't manage to make a simple pillow, yet in wood shop I got an A, made these really nice sconces...So glad there are people out there that can do things like sew!

Yay for your last comment. I totally agree with you and this time your thinking wasn't really dangerous. hee hee. Nah, seriously, I am from Brazil and just moved here when I was 23... I gained around 30 pounds in a year. It's so hard to diet here, so much fatty foods and snacks around all the time, vending machines everywhere, chocolate and burgers are way cheaper than fruit, etc. So we gotta have twice as much willpower. Good for you!

Yesterday was OK. 1291 for the day and 1.25 hours walking with dog.

Today has been delicious. I woke up hungry and ate a bowl of cereal and then fixed breakfast sandwiches with my XDpress 101. So far family really likes what I have made in that thing. Interesting, too.

B: Cereal, Egg, ham, cheese, english muffin grilled in X 101 = 440

L: Chocolate 200

D: I can't even begin to count all the calories I don't think but here goes:

Dinner at Bone Fish Grill

TWO Georgia Peach Cocktails 500 As you all know I don't really drink all that much. But, let's just say it was a stressful day that turned out alright and husband insisted I have at least one and the second one was kind of a mistake - I was trying to order my friend one and the bartender thought I was ordering myself another....... Bang Bang Shrimp 90 Bread w/ butter 300 Pan-Asian Salmon 240 Few bites of Potatoes AuGratin 50 Creme Brulee (almost the whole thing by myself) 500

2320-2520 for the day-So much for trying to keep it reasonable. I think the calories are pretty close BoneFish is not on the Calorie King site. We can even added a couple of 100 calories to be sure?????

Big calorie day so far, but if I eat really light for lunch and walk and then try to keep it 1/2 way sensible for dinner at Bonefish, may not turn out too badly. We'll see. Got to go walk in park with husband and both dogs.

Well, yesterday was a total bust!! Oh well. Today is another day. My goals for the weekend - eat very moderately and enjoy dinner on Saturday night. Probably will go to Bonefish Grill with another couple.

I didn't even write down everything I ate yesterday. Just ate too much candy. It was everywhere and I endulged. But......one day of the last 7 or so - won't ruin my life.

I did exercise yesterday. Just a little bit, though. Actually walked the dog on the NEW LEASH. The sidewalks cleared of ice enough that I was able to walk some. The new leash is WONDERFUL. I walked the big lab on the new leash with ONE HAND and DRESS SHOES, even - all the way to the corner which is a pretty long way - maybe 1/4 miles and BACK and it was great!!! He was a bit perturbed at first because he couldn't figure out why he couldn't just pull and rear as usual. But by the end of the walk he started to realize that he was enjoying this new MO (modis operandi-think that's spelled correctly), too! YAY. So, I heartily recommend the Gentle Leader harness for unruly dogs! It hooks up in the front on the chest and as advertised stops pulling INSTANTLY! Worth every penny.

Menu so far today:

B: Not hungry from all I ate yesterday- Coffee 50

S: Apple 60

L: Fazoli's Kid's Ziti 1/2 breadstick 265

S: Choc Heart - 56 (Sub Total 431)

D: Xpress 101 Tortilla Wrap w/chick, cheese, asparagus, yellow pepper, Honey mustard, chips 560

Agreed that this is a lifetime change and certain foods cannot just be labeled "taboo" and "forbidden" or that just makes us want it that much more. Funny how some things never change from childhood huh?

I'm glad the new leash works. I wish I could have a doggie, but I can't right now. I travel too much and live alone in a small condo. Yeah, I was surprised on how pretty Saint George Island was! And I totally recommend Spain. Barcelona is awesome, but I liked Madrid even better! I also really loved seeing the smaller places there. I went to Cadaques on the coast, just an hour or so driving north from Barcelona and it was just amazingly beautiful! Such a different scenario! I think every other little beach at the mediterranean should be just as gorgeous! Have a wonderful day!

Hiya Holly,I don't think you would get thyphoo or tetley tea bags where you are that's what most brits drink.My sister drinks Assam tea if you like it strong.Twinings tea is supposed to be nice i think they do an english breakfast tea.Green tea is supposed to be good for you.How do you have your tea with milk and sugar/sweetner??Or there is lemon tea.Glad you have found a solution to your doggie problems.It makes the walk so much more enjoyable as your not getting stressed.The only thing i have to work on now is his yelping at the traffic,it's so high pitched and loud.Last but not least i thought you and hubby where all loved up.As you come across that way,more than me and my hubby anyway(we where at one time!!).Hope it was a good day for you.Speak to you later,Julie

Hi HB, My son is playing Reuban *brother #1* in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Their performances are in mid April, but they have missed cause of snow here too. Good luck to your daughter with Cats. At least they are doing that in the winter, hot in summer in those cat suits.

Gentle leader may work on your lab, but on a Newf who wanted to go see something that caught her eye, she just dragged me along for the ride. I'm glad it worked so well for you, though. I had to resort to the prong collar. Most of the time, our girls are angels with just a flat collar...but if they see something interesting (like a neighbor walking a tiny dog, or a deer in the yard), I really need that "extra" something to keep them behaving.

Well yesterday (Tuesday) just got out of hand. I had very limited access to food so overate at lunch, but didn't do that badly the rest of the day. I was surprised it came in around 1500 calories yesterday. I feel bloated, though.

Anyway - today so far:

B: Banana 100

S: 2 Tootsie Pops 120

L: 4 Crackers, Cheese and 1 can of Chicken and Stars Soup 195

D: Mini Burger, 1/4 chick Quesadilla, green beans, carrots, roll w/butter and mini desserts 735

S: Toast with Jam 130

Total 1280

Had to go to a business dinner. Good food. Tried to keep portions under control and eat only what I reallly liked. Still no exercise. SIGH

Soda pop, Wine, Food???? Who knows.All I know is that pretty much EVERYTHING in moderation is what I have decided to stick to anymore to cut the "myths" about a lot of so called "bad things"..... I had a g'pa that lived to be 97 and drank his can of Pepsi every day and had coffee, eggs,bacon,biscuits,sausage,gravy & oatmeal almost EVERY DAY.... He loved gardening, fishing, yard work and kept himself busy..Bless his heart I sure do miss him.... Tomorrow something "bad" will be "good" for all ya know.... HAVE A GREAT VALENTINES DAY

My diary entries got mixed up. I'm confused, but here's for today.

Got a new kitchen "gadget" in the mail yesterday. I had ordered one of those Express 101s and I really like it. So far I have made tostadas in it with left overs and stuff and it was great.

Today it is very icy out. We had about 2 inches of snow yesterday and aout 3 inches of ice. YUCK. School is called off and everything feels out of kilter.

So far today:

B: Tea, grapefruit 106

L: 2 McD's Snack Wrap/ Yogurt Parfait 805

D: Roast Beef, M Potatoes, carrots 450

S: Toast and Jam 140

Total Calories 1501 Surprised not more than that.

WoW! I love gadgets.....I find all kinds at my local thrift stores,sometimes Pampered Chef, etc.... If I don't like them, I just donate them back or pass them on to somebody who may have always wanted to try whatever it is out...Stay warm and be careful on that ice.....

Sunday was a very dis-jointed day. I have been going to church on thursday night so didn't go to church Sunday a.m. Went to a new grocery store and couldn't find everything easily so took more time than usual. Went to pet store to get the big dog a "leading trainer"-type harness. Julie (McWoo)- we decided on a different kind than the Halti because when we put the Halti on him he pawed at his nose. We will see how this new one goes. It hooks at the chest and anytime he pulls forward or away from the leader it will only take him sideways back into us. We'll see. It's too cold here to walk - only about 12 degrees and the wind makes it below zero. Speaking of bad weather - still no word from Deardiariest and Little dog! I have been checking for a post for her every time I log in. Very concerning.

Anyway - after the Saturday night show (which was just wonderful - daughter looked great up there on the stages as usual) we slept in a bit. I finally got home from grocery and was going to cook roast for dinner, but daughter ended up eating out and roast was late so husband and I had soup and sandwiches and were just fine.

I ate too much yesterday - menus were:

B: 2 toast and jam - tea w/splenda 260

L: Cheese Burger 500

S: Candy Bar 240

D: Turkey, Salami, cheese, ham 240

S: Cookies 200

Later: M & Ms 100

Total: 1540

I can't believe this day was not more than this on calories. But, as you can see it was mostly in sweets and a cheeseburger. Unbelievable. But at least the cals weren't worse. Today is not much better. I had a piece of birthday cake at work. I didn't even enjoy it. I didn't have the ice cream, though and tonight it is roast, carrots, potatoes and asparagus! Stay tuned - it ain't over just another day in the life!

Hiya Chuck!!Alfie managed to get the halti off with his paws so the lady in the shop said it was too big so we tried the size 1 he 'tries' to get that off but to no avail.He's about 95% better with it walking which is great for my back.I've trained him to get his ball from me on the beach so i can get his lead on before we get to the busy road which is a godsend it's just persevererence.Do you drink any particular brand of tea.I've always been a tea drinker,and when i was pregnant with daughter no2 i only drank coffee weired.I've always liked my tea weak but as i have got older i prefer my tea strong(like my men!!)Try and be good my dear and take care,Julie

See yeterday's updated version for how yesterday turned out. I had a very low cal day. Not particularly on purpose, but just due to circumstances. Wasn't hungry at lunch, at dinner early then had to go to theatre to help with flower sales. Watched the show and came home late. Daughter wanted to stop at Starbucks on the way home. I got a Marshmellow treat there. Could have been worse.

today so far:

B: 2 frozen waffles with peach jam, tea 250

L: Chicken and Beef Taco with cheese 400

S: 5 Chocolate chip cookies!!!!! 700

D: Little bit of Chinese Garlic Cbicken and Rice

S: More cookies!!! 400

Total about 1850 - chuck it and start over on Sunday. Not as bad as could have been. Just too many cookies. They were SO GOOD. Not worth it though........Better just not to have those things around even.

Daughter wanted me to make cookies for the performers in tonights show. I ate too many!!! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Will update later. Need to vaccum! Exciting. Hair turned out OK, I think. I will know more when I do it myself. I always hate how hairdressers do my hair. Especially this one. Acts like she hasn't got a clue.

Hehe, I also hate when hairdressers do my hair. I have long hair with curls on the ends and they always dry it straight with the flat iron and looks like i have so little hair.. hahaha. I am having hair cut today at noon. I have been letting grey grow out. I am anxious about seeing how it looks after this cut as it has been since before Thanksgiving since I had it cut. Lots more grey now. If I don't like it I can always color it back. I am more anxious about getting a really good cut.

Am switching to tea from coffee for awhile. I don't have to put creamer in tea so will save some calories. Also for some reason it seems to make me less "wired".

I said stress was one reason I didn't eat that much last night. Husband new job concerns. He has doubts-but isn't sure. He likes the job. He has been there 3 months. There is a 6 month probation period with this job where either party can say OK or goodbye, but it isn't like he has one boss. He is hired by and evaluated by a board. There is one "personality" he is not so sure about and it is a strong one. We will see. SIGH

You are lucky that stress doesn't make you eat more! As for the hair cut, I think its nice when people grow out the grey...it can have a very soft look to it. And yes, I think I have managed to drop a couple pounds from stopping the usage of the creamer. That a good decision. Also, good luck to your husband!

My Aunt had dyed her hair from 14-56 and she finally let it go. She is salt w/ pepper streaks....Very attractive! Hope you like your new "do". New look always makes youfeel better and pampered some...HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

I'm anxious to hear how you like your new haircut. You're awfully brave to let the grey grow out. I've been coloring mine for so long, I'm honestly not sure what color is "natural" for me anymore. I used to say my greys were "blonde highlights", til my son got taller than me and informed me that they were, indeed, grey hairs (which, no doubt, HE put there!).

Hope the job works out for your hubby. Nothing worse than a "personality" at work that is difficult to deal with.

UPDATE The rest of the day was OK. I have to admit that part of it was because of stress and busy schedule (more on the stress reason later).

Menu for the rest of the day was terrible nutritionally, but I stayed within calories - so 1/2 a success. I will do better with nutrition today.

D: Rotisserie Chicken, Loft House Cookie and 3 Hershey kisses 340

I went to meeting at church and only had snacks there. I didn't have time for anything at home except the chicken. Yikes. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Thank you all for your words of encouragment. It really did help. I am doing OK so far today in that I haven't overeaten. I will post menu so far and then post rest later.

B: Grapefruit, toast w/jam, coffee 315

L: Arby's RB sandwich, pretzels, LC light cheese 425

Had dentist appt so ate at Arby's. If I drink my water and exercise and eat reasonably the rest of day/night I should balance some of the over calorie days and gt a start back down the road I want to walk on.
