Well, today has been OK. I didn't exercise. Tonight just kind of blew up on me. I have eaten well. I ate two choc chip cookies, though......othrewise OK. I have had approx 1500 calories today. Could be worse. I really needed to get on ET since it rained and didn't ride bike, but one thing lead to another......

Tomorrow I will do it. I am feeling a little blue since husband is away and not sure of so many things. Am determined not to let uncertainty send me on a hugh mood swing and into bad eating habits.

Progress as of today: 16.4 lbs lost so far, only 5.6 lbs to go!

2 chocolate chip cookies...well, i hope you enjoyed them! isn't that what matters! :) I know what you mean...I can't stand uncertainty. that surely brings me to the worst of my eating. but, you know what, when there's uncertainty, there's a chance for you to know that...and just make the most of it. i guess we have to learn that perfection isn't always necessary! :)

Keep the faith that it will all work out the way it should. My husband and I had to live apart for almost six months, seeing each other only on Friday night through Sunday (and depending on what was happening,sometimes not even that!) But we made it through it and I have to say that our relationship is so much stronger than ever before. The beginning is tough, but throw yourself into exercise and channel that energy into ssomething positive! It'll work out:)

Hey friend, how is today? My goodness I know how you feel about the uncertainty and all that goes with it. I am exactly the same. I am also going through some huge seperation anxiety issues with this thing with Brian, a sure sign that I am getting closer to him...and my long-held fear of losing people I care about has reared it's ugly head and it wants me to eat to quiet it. If I eat, I will become even more depressed. It is SOOOOOOO hard. I have been praying harder than ever these days that I find the strength inside that God gave me to survive everything I have survived and to remember that this to, shall pass. Well, I haven't jumped ship. I have been so busy with getting husband ready for work in other town - living away from home 4 days a week and just the usual stuff. I have missed you all. I haae been doing OK on eating and very well on exercise. My knee has continued to heal (thank good ness!) and I have been riding bike almost every day. I love it! I think I havae truly found "my sport". The only thing I have felt very passionate about since teaching aerobics. Husband, daughter and I all went to the local bike shop and looked at trail bikes for me. We like the Giant brand. I'd like to get one so all three of of us can ride together. Right now only two of us can go on the trails and when daughter and I go one of has to ride Dad's bike which is much too big for both of us-that's dangerous.

Anyway husband starts his new job in the other city 1.5 hours away - he will live with his parents - luckily their house is only 2 miles away from the building he will work in. The job has lots of possibilities - chance for advancement - we believe. But we don't want to move until daughter is through high school - she is a junior this year. We can make it work, if it goes well and he does advance.

Anyway I said I would tell you all "the rest of the story" about husband's job so here goes - as I said he has accepted the job I describe above and is going forward with that, but, he had applied for a job here locally - that we thought he was very well suited for, about 7 weeks ago and we hadn't heard a thing back from it - well 2 weeks ago he got a call from the local job asking to set up a phone interview as they had completed their national search and he had been selected from the applicants to be phone-interviewed. The interview was a week ago this past Friday and lasted 1.25 hours. He thought it went pretty well. Then, last Monday he got a call asking for a personal interview on Monday 10/8. I have a connection to one of the executives at this employer and I heard "thru the grapevine" that he is one of four finalists for this job. The employer hopes to have the position filled by the end of October. Well, I am really struggling to keep my emotions calm about this situation. I have said all along that I believe God has a plan for us through husbands employement situation because he was so unhappy for so long at his last job but would not have left due to financial pressures, etc. At this point I just don't want to become too "invested" in hoping he gets this job here in town - although I believe it would be great - I cannot see the future and the out of town job he has taken may be best in the long run - SO......dear friends......rather than obsess and focus on what is best, what to do or other futile activities, I am going to leave it up to God to set the stage for the next phase of our lives. Husband is more philosophical about the situation. I the meantime, you all know how much I believe in the power of prayer so if you will include us in your prayers - not for one job or the other - but that the right thing would happen for us - I would be very grateful.

Well, I'm back home and have some kind of stomach "bug" I feel very yucky....to put it in simple terms! Over-eating is not a problem today - although I'd actually prefer it was....if you know what I mean.

Anyway just a fast note to say I appreciate your comments and support! My knee is no better - no worse. I rode bike in the woods yesterday with the dog for 1.25 hours and it was great. My knee took a little while to recover, but was not worse and didn't really hurt much while I was riding.

We went to Columbus OH to the Genesis concert and it was really very good. Those old guys can still put out some great music. Our daughter really likes "our" kind of music plus some of the really good new stuff. I am so grateful her musical taste isn't like some of my friend's kids. Although everyone is entitled to their own tastes but......

Anyway hoping for a good week.

I will post on husband's job situation later. It's complicataed and I am praying for God's guidance on it. Please include this in your prayer time if you have room! Love, Holly

Wednesday was OK. I didn't exercise because I wanted to rest the knee. It IS better. Thanks go to all who prayed and sent good thought my way. I will try a little exercise tonight and see how it goes - nothing big. I am going to my special church program I joined on Thursday nights. This will be the 3rd session. I missed last week due to school orientation night.

Yesterday as far as eating - I overdid it a little thanks to oatmeal cookies leftover from the weekend - not to worry - they are all gone now! Some consolation in that I guess. About 1700 calories yesterday.

Been catching up on some diaries. If I missed yours - I'll get there soon. Thanks for hanging in here with me, everyone!

Definitely rest the knee until it is 100W%. Don't even try to do much on a 90% functioning knee. Bad things can happen.

I don't see how you can possibly overdo it only "a little" with oatmeal cookies. I have trouble not eating the dough before putting the cookies in the oven (and that is so unhealthy, I know, but YUM). I think you did pretty good at 1700. If I could do that every day, I'd be at goal for sure.

Thanks for the comment you left me. I totally agree with you about the time spent on one's appearance. One should aim to strike a happy balance.

Oh Dear Diet Diary buddies - I need your prayer for healing of my KNEE. Just when thngs were going very well with the exercise last night my husband and dog went with me and he took a different route than I had been on thorugh the woods and coming around a turn and up a steep rise I lost control of the bike, tried to "muscle" it up anyway and fell to the left about 4 feet into the mud and the creek! It could have been so much worse but my knee took the brunt of the hit. Thank goodness mud is soft. I went on and did most of the ride. My knee is kind of hyper-extended at this point and is very sore. Surprisingly I am not all that sore over all. I put a knee brace on and will try to rest it. Hopefully won't set me back too far.

Eating was OK yesterday about 1500 calories. I am very motivatead to eat right as I tried on two pair of my pants that were the smaller ones I wore last Spring and they are just every so slightly tight - tight enough that I won't wear them until I lose about 3-4 lbs. I thought I'd gained about 3-4 lbs and there is my proof. Not too bad - but need to geton top of it ASAP. No procrastination and no moaning about it - YES!

Thank goodness you are still in one piece !! Hope your knee heals fast. I will be thiinking about you and keeping my fingers crossed that you are soon back to normal. I'm just glad it wasnt worse, I always worry about what might have been!!!

Hi Holly! Thanks for the comment you left me. So sorry to read about your knee. Sounds like the type of thing which should heal well, though. Is it swollen at all? If so you could try icing it, and maybe take some ibuprofen. Often, it's the swelling after an injury which causes even more damage than the injury itself. Hope you feel better soon!

Hollybelle, you REALLY motivated me when I read the comment you left to my entry....How's your "new plan" of empowering others by not doing it for them going?...LOVE THAT!!!...well, it's going quite well for me except I'm still shedding tears of guilt to not answering their cries for help...I'm just not used to being free and allowing them to look after themselves (quite the mother hen here)...but I'm slowly getting used to it and in the meantime, I'm keeping faith that God is taking care of them as much as I've been tempted to run to the rescue! (But haven't.)

I'm so sorry to hear about your knee...it's a wonder you were able to continue after that fall...I've already prayed for your healing and believe you are healed in Jesus' Name...Just remember that He expects us to do our part and sometimes that means give something time to rest before jumping back into what we were doing before it happened! (Something I've had to learn here lately.)

I think it is wonderful you and your Hubby go bike riding together! Have a fantastic day! BIG SMILE TO YOU! PS...the most favorite vacation Hubby and I ever went on was in 2004 when we went to Kentucky in the fall of the year (and the leaves were beautiful colors) and we stayed at Cumberland Falls State Park Resort and Lake Cumberland State Park Resort and Buckhorn State Park Resort! We really enjoyed our 'Kentucky State Visit'!

Sunday was a nice day weather wise here. I spent the afternoon after church at the grocery and cooling. I made ground beef/cabbage soup which is tasty and fairly healthy. I made a strawberry-pretzel salad but used reduced fat and sugar so it's not so bad. I have been craving this. It is on the menu at one of my fav home-cooking restaurants and I hardly ever get to go there. It makes a bunch so I may have to bring left-overs to work to share. Calorie wise I was OK, but went over - on Saturday I ate 1800 and Sunday about the same.

Exercise was awesome. I rode mountain bike both Sat and Sun for over an hour on Sunday. What a good workout. See my previous posts for more detail.

Anyway - looking forward to eating success this week. Daughter is very sick. I think strep. Husband will take her to doctor later this morning. Poor thing has bad sore throat and nose is completely stuffed up.

Look at your daughter's throat with a flashlight. If you see white spots, it's strep. If not, it may just be a very bad infection. I hope she feels better. I hate it when the kids are sick; it's a mom thing, I think.

I hope your daughter gets well soon. She may need some antibiotics if it turns out to be strep (Donkey's test is an easy way to find out for sure!).

I thought I made a post yesterday, but I guess I didn't. To catch up - Thursday was OK. Can't find food diary for that day, but it was fine. I didn't over eat. I'd say the total calories (to best of my recollection) was about 1300. I know I didn't go over that although I don't remember exactly! Resisted candy all over the place at work even though had to go to school open house. I did 25 minutes on the E.T.

Friday also a good day. Menus were:

B: coffee and just a little oatmeal wasn't very hungry at breakfast

L: favorite restaurant for vegetables. Had fried geen tomatoes, kale, corn and 2 corn bread sticks with a little margarine.

D: family wanted pizza. Ate three pieces of 10' pepperoni pizza and diet coke. chocolate milk before bed.

Kind of junked out at dinner but over all calories were fine - still around 1300. Walked for 1.25 hours with husband probably about 3 miles. Not too fast. We saw 4 deer in the park. Two adults and two babies. They were really close and we were able to walk on a trail parrallel to them for quite a while without alarming them. Neat. Have already been on an hour bike ride on trails with daughter and dog. Was very fun. I really like riding on the trails. I never thought I would. So everyone - let this be a lesson to you - you really dont know until you try something if you'll like it. I always thought it would be too hard. It is a good workout. Because it is so rough you have to hold on really tight and that works your upper body. Then your legs work very hard, too. It is a mental challenge because you have to pay attention and be careful when you are going over the rough terrain and watch out for roots and rocks and hidden pits in the ground, etc. Although daughter wouldn't say it - I think she was kind of surprised I could ride as long as we did. I could have gone longer, but the DOG was tired! She has to run while we ride! I am kind of proud that I can do this at (almost - next month) 53 years of age. Heck, I don't think a lot of people my age would even try it. So - good for me.

It is just right weather-wise here. There is a crisp sound to the trees and it was only around 50 degrees this morning. I LOVE it. Hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend. Holly

What I do when making a green smoothie is first put 2 cups of water in the blender, then add the fruit (whatever you want really) today was papaya, banana and some grapes. I start blending this, this is no problem really with all the water and the water content of the fruit. I then add in the green, sometimes you have to move it around a bit (careful of the blade at the bottom) but it all turns over just fine. The sweetness of the fruit cancels out the bitterness of the green, I am finding that spinach is not bitter really. It is a very unique flavor really, one I have never had before, I think that Victoria Boutenko called is a "fresh" taste...that it is. I do not have a heavy duty blender, just ordinary but I put it on high once everything is in it and leave it running for about a minute. It is sooooo good.

Yesterday was a good day.

B: Oatmeal, no coffee!

L: 1/2 Turkey sandwich on ww bread with mustardm apple, grapes, pretzels

S: Granola Bar

D: xtra sm spagetti w meat sauce, Chips and Pimento cheese

Exercise was: 25 minutes on ET, 15 minutes of weights and abs, then 1 hour of trail bike riding! Woo-Whoo! It felt great.

Calories were about 1250 for the day!

I don't know why I have periods of time where I just don't exercise. I feel so great when I do! I know I like to exercise outside most of all and I hate the hot summer weather - but come on - I have an eliptical trainer right in my basement by the TV and I enjoy doing that! Who can figure! I dont understand myself sometimes! Although I exercise a lot yesterday I won't have much time to exercise today as must go to school open house and Program at church tonight.

Great day! I love pimento cheese. I saw Paula Dean make it last year and still have not tried to make this from scratch. Maybe this weekend for the big Nebraska vs USC game!

good on your ocerall foods!!! and the meat sauce probably also includes tomato sauce...which contains more lycopene (healthy) than raw tomatoes! good for you. exercise looks fun...i'm not a horseback rider but that must be a fun hobby to have!

Yesterday I had an OK day. I am doing much better on exercise and I feel much better about myself-not that I felt all that bad about me, but I feel better - relatively speaking!

Yesterday I had the following food and exercise:

B: Granola Bar Coffee

L: 1/2 ham sandwich on very fiberous bread w/mustard, vegetable casserole (yum - homemade and fattening but only a little bit left. I love it)

D: (Oh oh) piece of cake (left over from the weekend), 1/2 grilled chicken breast, corn chips,

Not too bad on calories-probably about 1100, but content was UGH!~

Exercise was 45 minute walk with dog an friend - lots of hills!~

Did much better (so far) today. Will post that tomorrow. YAY! Wishing everyone a wonderful evening.
