Yesterday was a very stressful day due to child issues. I am keeping myself as calm as possible. That is about all I can say right now.

Regarding the exercise/food goals - doing OK on both.

Don't have time to write entire menus, but here's a rundown of the last few days:

Monday: Cals = 1155 Exercise: Walk 45 minutes

Tuesday: Cals = 1125 Exercise = Walk 1 hour

Wednesday: Cals = 1325 Exercise = Walk 1 hour

I think that should be good to lose a little bit of weight. I will keep up about that same pace for the next couple of weeks and see what happens.

I still haven't worked the weights back in and I haven't been on the Eliptical Trainer lately! But I am moving and eating OK. I will get to those things soon.

We are having a Baby Shower for co-wowrker after 5:00 today. There will be lots of junk food. I am going to attend, have a few bites of healthier stuff and leave. I don't have much interest in baby showers these days. Glad for the couple having the baby - definitely, but would rather just give present and skip shower. Call me grumpy or something, I guess.

Tonight I plan to do the E.T. for exercise and pick up the house a bit.

Wow, fantastic job on keeping your calories down and getting in all of that walking!! Your consistance and dedication will definetly give you some great results!! Keep it up!

Your not grumpy to not feel much like going to a baby shower. I love babies and I'm thrilled for all of my friends "new arrivals" and I always show support and attend the baby showers. I don't love the whole shower scene either, I think it might be all of the corny little games that your always forced to play that can get a little old when you've been going to showers for years!! Look, now I sound grumpy too:)

Hello dear DD friends! I have been so busy the last several days and have not been able to post all I want to on this site. I have not had a comupter at work and have been sandwiching (no pun intended) work in on home PC when I can. Work PC is fixed now.

I wanted to post menus for Mon and Tue all week, but won't have time - so will just say that I have done well Monday and Tuesday. Eating healthy and holding my own. I have walked both days (and done the sit ups and push ups I do every a.m.). Weather here is windy but pretty nice. 40s and 50s - some sunshine.

I went to my friend's house (the one where I weigh myself) to walk yesterday but didn't have the heart to weigh myself. I might do it next time. I can tell by my clothing that there really hasn't been a change, though.

I hope to catch up on all your diaries - can't wait to see what you have all been up to. OR (regarding the scales) SHOULD I SAY "DOWN" TO???? In any event - here's wishing you all a blessed day and healthy eating!

We only have a few weeks until spring officially starts, YAY! We have had a couple of mild days but we are expecting a snow storm again tomorrow, YUCK! I'm so craving sun and warmth!

You are so right, the mother daughter relationship is always there no matter what our age, it is a special bond!! I remember at Christmas time my mom and I were out shopping together and we were "playfully" bantering back and forth and giving each other a hard time when a lady next to us looked at us and said "you must be mother and daughter". It's so true, we all had a good laugh at that!! You are close to my mother's age, she will be 55 yrs old this May. She is very young at heart, we have alot of fun together!

Had a busy weekend. I didn't keep track of my menus this weekend - I guess I must face it - I'm just not that good at writing everything down on the weekends. I didn't really over do it badly, though. I made Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins Saturday morning and ate a few of those - but I used RF Sour Cream and used Spenda instead of sugar and Light margarine instead of butter. So could have been worse on the contents - they turned out good.

I made Lasagne and Chili with Ground Turkey on Saturday, too. I cooked ahead for the weekend and the week. I had only a small piece of the lasagne. It was really good. My lasagne is not that great, but it was the best I've ever made. My husband went down to neighbor's house and took it and it was mostly gone when he came back. I had to take daughter across town so I wasn't there. The chili is good. I had some higher calorie items, but I didn't eat hugh amounts of them. Ate lots of vegetables and fruits. I am still holding my weight steady. But not losing. I can live with it. Summer's coming!

I got two walks in - pretty long ones. Also I cleaned and waxed wood floors, took the dog for her bath and otherwise cleaned the house. That counts as exercise in my book. Especially the floor work. That talks a lot of energy.

Today has been a good day so far on eating. Took client to lunch - his choice of restaurants. It was a home-cooking type place. I had vegetable plate. I will post menus for today tomorrow.

Yesterday was OK. I did get the walk in - at the Mall since it was rainy and colder. Today is beautiful, though. We walked about 1.5 hours. It wasn't very crowded last night.

Daughter is feeling much better. Hope that continues. She has had a rough week. Picked her up yesterday from school at the gym/lunch period to go for follow up to check the tooth packings - they were OK, but she had upset stomach. Thought it was because of smell of formaldehyde in biology lab. She "lost her cookies" in the parking lot of the denist office but then felt better and wanted to go to Denny's resturant (where we NEVER go) for lunch. We got breakfast and it was GREAT. We split the thing they call the Grand Slam. It was more calories than I usually budget for lunch but I went lighter on portions for dinner and I actually came out OK for the day with 1220! Anyway daughter didn't dance last night. Slept a bit and got up feeling pretty good and did lots of homework.

Menus were:

B: Banana, 100 calorie pack, Coffee

L: 1 slice French Toast with syrup, 2 slices bacon, 2 scrambled eggs

D: Chicken Thigh, greens, mashed potatoes

S: 100 Cal Ice Cream Sandwich

1220 calories and I really enjoyed EVERYTHING. Not the healthiest menu, but oh well.

Plan to walk at least an hour tonight outside as it is supposed to continue to be georgeous weather. YAY!!!!

Tuesday, 2/30/07

Yesterday was OK. I ate more than I thought I did when I totaled it up. Total Calories were 1445. I didn't get exercise in because evening schedule got mixed up. I was tired, from beingi up in the middle of the night - daughter developed dry sockets where had wisdom teeth extracted. Took her to oral surgeon and they packed them with medicated gauze and within minutes she was completely comfortable for the first time in 5 days. she missed school again yesterday - between snow days, regular days off school and her being sick in some way she has missed a lot lately. I was hoping that this would be the week we would get back on regular schedule.

Menus were:

B: coffee - not hungry for breakfast

L: Fazoli's Kid's Ziti, one breadstick and apple

S: Potato Chips Hardly ever have them - some bought really good Vinegar and salt ones in to the office and I couldn't resist a FEW!

D: Roast Beef, mashed potatoes and carrots - delicious!

S: 100 Cal Reece's pieces 100 Cal Ice Cream Sandwich

Too many processed, sweet/salty snacks! Could have been worse. I will just keep plugging along. It is warmer here today 50 with rain.

Have to take daughter back today to have re-packing done. I have plans to walk with friend tonight.

Monday 2/19/07 Good day yesterday. First day in a long time I kept calories under the 1200-1400 goal I have set for myself. 1030 total calories - not good to be under 1200 but ate all I wanted and will balance out those days when I have gone OVER so much.

Food Choices were much better. Was glad to learn that rotisserie chicken leg quarter is 190 calories!

Daughter is still very much in pain - called oral surgeon and said bring her in this afternoon. Think she may have developed "dry sockets". I am worried she will miss so much school!

Menus were:

B: Coffee

L: Pita with Hummus, cucumber, Ugli Fruit (delicious), Apple

S: 2 small chocolates and Banana

D: Chicken Leg Quarter and (healthy) Mashed Potatos

S: Granola Bar

Exercise: 45 Minute walk outside Total Calories: 1030

argh those dreaded dry sockets...I had one, once...that was all it took to listen and NOT suck on a straw after surgery LOL. The fantastic news, she will feel soooooo much better after they take care of that for her. I agree about the calories, some days we just don't feel like eating...but within that week, we darn sure make up for it =) Have a great day Holly and I hope your daughter feels better soon!

Sunday 2/18/07 was a good day. I did do the laundry as planned and partially cleaned house as planned. I got a really good walk in with my friend in the snow in the park with dog. About an hour and a quater.

Menus - I didn't really overeat. Right now I know I am not eating to lose, but I am eating to maintain and that is something for right now. This week I am planning on getting back in the better swing of eating to lose. I have been having such a hard time for a number of reasons, but I just don't want to worry about it too much - just keep going day by day and shooting for doing better. Eventually I know I will be hitting on all cylinders again.

We ate dinner with friends - daughter's boyfriend's parents....it was wonderful (this is also one of my walking buddies). They made a Beef brisket that was just wonderful. I made healthy mashed potatoes they seemed to like very much, collard greens, yeast rolls and a peach cobbler for dessert. No wonder I need to do good the rest of the week.

Menus were:

B: Coffee Muffin

L: 6 Pretzels, pimento cheese

D: Beef, Potatos, Greens, Roll, Butter, Cobbler, Ice Cream

All that came to 1396 calories! Not bad.....considering.

Plan on walking or ETing tonight. I need to put Christmas decorations away! Can't believe we have put it off so long. Only time we have is weekends because weeknights are so busy. And between being out of town and being sick I have just had to put it off. All is in our basement so it's not like hardly anyone else sees it still out - but.....this is getting kind of goofy having it still out at all! Oh, well, I am not doing it alone so will just have to wait until family can help!

THANK you all for the encouraging words on my diary - it REALLY does help me keep going. Daughter is better - still having pain, which I'm not sure how typical it is to have paid after wisdom teeth removed.

When my niece had her wisdom teeth out she looked as if she had been in a bar room brawl!! Her eyes puffed up and she had quite a bit of pain for a couple of days. I think it is quite common to have pain afterwards.

We're planning on having brisket one night this week! I love it! The walk in the park sounds like fun. I haven't seen any snow in this part of the world in years! A little dusting would be nice, but not looking probable. Hope your daughter heals quickly. I don't remember much from having mine out, only I was out of it for a few days and lived on mashed potatoes and milk shakes!

Ps...I'm not proud of it, but I wrap my Christmas tree in a garbage bag decorated and all and put it in the building and just pull it out again next year....tada...instant Christmas tree in a bag...lol!

Yesterday was OK. I walked an hour and 15 minutes at the Mall with friend. Then I went grocery shopping - got some good stuff. Tried a citrus fruit called mellow - something or other.....it was much like a grapefruit only with thicker skin and - easier to peel, though - and was very sweet and tangy. I ate the whole thing! I don't think they are very high in calories, delicious. When I find out the real name I'll post it -sorry for half information!

I didn't write down all food yesterday (naughty girl), but I didn't over eat. I treated myself to a Lemon-poppy seed muffin, but over all eating was in line.

Today want to finish laundry and straighten up and dust all over. I want to do at least 15 minutes on ET and take a walk in the SNOW. We got 3-4 inches last night and it is really pretty. The park by our house is nice to walk in when there is snow.

I am going to make chili with ground turkey. I have a a good recipe that is easy if anyone wants to try. I have experimented with a lot of combinations.

I bought a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken and will have that tonight with vegetables - probably greens and cabbage and potatoes and fresh beets (for me only - nobody else likes them). I don't like canned vegetables, can only toleratae frozen somewhat so vegetables will be fresh.

Then the grocery was having a killer sale on roast beef. I bought two for under $4 each. I will freeze one and cook the other in my crock pot tonight with onion and onion soup mix and carrots. So Between these meals and the left overs and some canned soups I should be good dinners and lunches for the whole week (I hope).

Then, if I can only get MORE exercise in - I'm good to go!

Snow can be very pretty and fun to walk in but so cold! the good thing about is it that if you actually walk through the snow where it isn't already shoveled away its a pretty good exercise.

We got some snow here last night too..In WV..beautiful! Good for you for getting in such a great walk at the mall yesterday too!

And yeh, let us know what fruit you had! I am eating more fruits than I used to but need some new options!

Love your update. It is so helpful to see what others are eating. Thanks for the input on taking something else for my sales meeting. A first-- tuna fish! Everyone else had chocolate, brownees and cake. Yes I have been in sales for the last 16 years-- sale kitchen appliances. Think I am getting a little burnt out. Hard standing on your feet for 8 hours and then 2 days a week- 12 hours. But at my age, don't think I'll change. Keep up the good work, you are almost there!

Your food sounds delicious! I love rotisserie chicken. That is a great deal on the roast. The crock pot makes meat so tasty and tender. I should really make a roast or a stew soon. I haven't made them in a while and my husband loves them.

Mall exercise is very fun! I could walk the mall for hours but the only problem is I don't have any money to spend:)

I think the fruit you had is the same one my hubby bought for me to try the last time he picked a couple things up at the grocery store. It is very similiar to a grapefruit with rather thick skin, I think borntocry might be right, I think it might be a pomelo but I'm not sure.

Winter really does look pretty, I just wish it wasn't quite so cold!

Daughter had oral surgery yesterday for removal of wisdom teeth. She did very well, but is having lots of pain today.

My food choices were good yesterday, although I didn't keep track and therefore, won't post menus today. I didn't get walk or ET in - was so tired and just cleaned house, which was some exercise but not enough. It is SO COLD and windy and DREARY here. I want warm weather soon!

I am going to clean more house and do laundry this morning. I am going to go to grocery, drug store and for a walk at the Mall with my friend later.

Tonight thinking of renting a movie. Maybe will color my hair - I have such roots! I am thinking about using a semi permanent color that washes out because I am thinking of letting the grey grow out. I get so tired of coloring it all the time.

What I would actually like to do today is get in the car and drive to Florida for about 2 weeks. But I think it is kind of cold there, too! The weather usually doesn't bother me this much....not sure why it is today.

I want to think of something very good for dinner.

Also - wanted to tell about this good bread I have found - only 40 calories a slice and looks and tastes like regular bread....it is Nature's Own Brand Double Fiber Wheat. If you see it at your grocery - you may want to give it a try.

Well, Valentine's Day was not such a good diet day. I ate too much candy and had stuffed pizza from Sbarro at the Mall food court. Due to daughter's crazy schedule that was the only dinner we could manage, but I was with the people I love so that was what counted.

I am not sure about calories - I think I had about 1900 for the day - Oh well, it's over and today I have done much better.

You know, I hardly ever give myself credit for the food that I don't eat. ALL the MANY things that I don't have. For example I am constantly stopping at fast food places for daughter because her schedule is so crazy she must eat out a lot. I used to have something right along with her, but now either I don't - or I have a diet coke only. Today she wanted to stop at a bakery we love for donuts after her dental appointment on the way to school because she didn't get to eat at home this morning. I didn't have anything. Then between tutor and dance she wanted to stop at Sonic and I didn't have anything again. This is really typical for an average day. So all in all I am doing pretty good. What makes it easier not to have something is that I don't let myself get too hungry at any given time and I stop and ask myself - am I hungry??? If the answer is NO - I don't eat anything then. If the answer is YES - I try to pick something that is healthy and that I really like.

Anyway - so much for yesterday. Today has been better. I skipped breakfast totally and had subway Deli Tuna for lunch and a small cupcake for snack. We are having spagetti made with ground turkey for supper (if I get it made in time). So today should be better. I'll post menu tomorrow.

Great job on all the things you DO NOT eat, I think most of us need to remember that we could all be doing so much worse and focus on that instead of allowing ourselves to spiral out of control thinking we aren't doing good based on ONE day of eating..and use that to make TWO days of bad eating..Three..etc.

its important for your daughter do have good nutrition as well....does she like pb and J? that's a healthy alternative! or, sandwiches are good...instead of fries and burgers all the time!
