Hello - good afternoon - finally getting on to post. 

I don't know if I updated yesterday or not - I did OK on food but no exercise.  I was just so tired.  I got up this morning and went for a 30 minute walk in the neighborhood around 7:00.  That felt pretty good.  I intended to only go 15 minutes and then ride my bike tonight, it's around 50 degrees!!!  But the route was longer than I remembered.  I may still ride my bike - I WILL DEFINITELY wear the padded shorts, though!  I ordered some new padded short bibs and a real biking shirt from a site called Western BikeWorks.  Pretty good prices.  I am hoping the bibs will eliminate the shorts rolling down or bunching up etc. while riding.  I have needed the shirt for a long time.  It's a short sleeved one - has the pocket/pouch in the back to store stuff.  I hope they fit.  They should arrive Tuesday by 5:00.

Todays foods:

B:  1 egg, 1 piece of toast with jam small coffee with SF vanilla creamer 210

L:  with my boss - at Cracker Barrel - slaw and BBQ, sweet potato casserole, corn muffin - butter and strawberry jam (1/2)  BIG BIG lunch.  I am probably not going to eat much dinner and the sweet potato caserole was like dessert!  I guess that's about 600-700 calories!  But it was good.

D:  2 pieces of sourdough toast and a little bit of jam, 4 oz 1%  milk  300

about 1210 calories and a 30 minute walk 30 reps abs

Didn't get the bike ride in - was exhausted when I arrived home and took a NAP and slept through the night - so I must have needed the sleep.

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

Hope you had a good bike ride! It was 75 degrees this evening when I got home so I rode my bike for a 1/2 hour too. I didn't get to ride as fast as I wanted because my Godchild wanted to ride with me. He is 9 years old, learning disabled, but so lovable. So we rode leisurely and just talked and every so often I would tell him to race me. We would get up to about 20 mph but only for a short distance so I got a lot of varying speeds in. I'm going to check out that site for some padded shorts! Have a nice evening.

Gotta post and run this morning - headed to state capitol at 7:00 to participate in lobbying effort for my professional association.See yesterdays updates. Good day.  See review of the concert.  It was great.

B:  1 scrambled egg and coffee - will have more breakfast in the meeting this morning....probably fruit hope they don't have pastry! 60  Coffee 75 = 135

More later. 

Back from the state capitol.  Interesting day.  Foods were:

More B:  2 pieces lean bacon, 1/4 C (maybe) of oven baked potatoes, 4-5 bite sized pieces of pineapple and cantelope, coffee   225

L:     grilled fried green Tomato BLT - it was fabulous!  450 (?)  It wasn't that big and it wasn't grill with butter - more like seared

Subtotal 810  I'll need to be careful tonight!

D:  2 thin slices of sourdough baguette and butter, chobani mango yoogurt 160

S;  white cho covered peanuts - 200

1160-1260 No exercise today - started the day at 4:30 a.m.

I stopped at the bicycle store no the way back to the office and got a new pair of padded gloves.  they are densely padded and I think I'll like them alot!  Can't wait for my bibs shorts and shirt to come.  I hope they FIT!

I almost forgot to mention that I met a celebrity today!  And had my pic taken with him.  Some of you all may be familary with the"turtle man" show on TV.  He was also at the state capitol and me and two others had out pic taken with him.  I hope the guy whose phone the pic is on will send it to me.  The turtle man was very nice and it was kind of him to have his pic made with us.  That show certainly puts our state in a peculiar light with the rest of the country, but you know what they say: any publicity is good publicity!  Thought you all might get a laugh out of this!

RE the show we're going to, it's not exactly a theater show, but it's a live performance. It's Cinematic Titanic, made up of members of the former Mystery Science Theater 3K. They make fun of really bad movies, live on stage, and it's pretty darn funny stuff!

Updated yesterday - very good day!  YAY!

My bike ride last night was SO VERY enjoyable!  It did, however, do quite a number on my "behind".  I coulnd't find my padded shorts (which need to be replaced, anyway bc the padding is pretty worn and thin, but they are much better than nothing) and the sun was going down so I opted to ride without any padding, forgetting how very hard the seat on my NEW bike is!!!  Well I paid for it I have too swollen places - sorry to be graphic, but I need sympathy LOL!  It was worth it. 

I didn't get my exercise in this morning, but I will do something tonight.  I have been doing my old 30 rep ab routine the last two mornings.  That will help.  We are going to the movie theatre tonight  to see a concert - a live digital broadcast of the Goat Rodeo Sessions featuring Yoyo Ma and four other string instrument luminaries. Sound be heavenly.

B:  2 eggs, 1/4 of a skillet of cornbread with honey and coffee with SF Vanilla and stevia.  300

L:  Applebees 1/2 Oriental Chic Salad - 500 - light dressing and didn't finish

I went on-line and ordered new biking BIB shorts and a new bikinig shirt - Can't wait.  It's been 60 degrees here today - but is now raining hard. 

I guess we'll eat out tonight - will have to watch out for calories - keep it lower with something I really like, though!

Congrats on the bike ride and sorry for the sore butt! Where do you get padded shorts? I took my first ride Sunday for 10 miles and my butt was slightly sore, but I bet padded shorts would help! Before Sunday, I had not ridden a bike in 30 years... Hope you enjoy the concert tonight.

The bike ride sounds enticing because on Hubby's and my vacation last year, I found a nice mountain bike (in the mountains, no less) at a yard sale and bought it (for a cool $5)...and I am just waiting on the 'right time' (it's been parked for months and needs Hubby to air the tires) to ride it...oh...I picked up a bike helmet at a thrift store recently for $3...too bad you and I don't live closer...we could go bike riding together. :-D

Didn't post yesterday or update Saturday.  Was so busy.  I didn't do really well on food this weekend, but it wasn't "God-Awful" either!  Too many starches.  I have purchased healthier foods for this week.  I did the Zumba class Saturday and walked 2 miles yesterday.  I did not do the ET this morning, so I will have to do that tonight, or one of my tapes or a turbokick class or something else.  I will do something, though.  I am on an exercise roll!  On the Zumba class Saturday - my knee did bother me Saturday night a bit, but it seemed ok by Sunday morning.  I rested it and took TWO of my anti-inflamatory pills (I ususally take one, but am allowed up to two) Saturday and Sunday just to make sure.....so we'll see how it does.  I am just grateful bike riding doesn't seem to affect it!  I think it's mostly lateral movements.  The instructor (hired by my dear daughter) was very good.  I loved the songs.

I made an oldie but goodie recipe for lunch yesterday - Sweet Potatoes, chicken sausage, peppers and onions casserole! YUM!  It's all gone.  

B:  Banana, Tea 100

L:  Rest of the casserole - 350

S:  Chobani pineapple yogurt 160

S:  granola bar (prebike ride)  140

D:  Pita chips and cheddar 1-2 oz cheese, two turnips with butter, 1/4 skillet of cornbread with maple syrup!  YUM  500?

1250 calories and see below regarding bike ride!

Rode my bike 45 minutes after work.  speed was a bit down due to sore knee (slightly) and out of practice since the summer, but it's coming back.  So nice to be able to ride in JANUARY people!

Good job on the workouts! Do you do any specific knee strengthening exercises? I've added those to my routine as I find if I move the wrong way it's not hard to hurt my knee (or my back).

Lots of ways to strengthen muscle around knees - I just sit in a chair and lift and hold each leg for a count of 5. But there are many more of them.

I've corrected my squats as I found my knee was going past my foot - so now I watch in them mirror when I do them.

I posted an entry earlier, but must have pushed a wrong button and erased it!.....So here goes.

Zumba this morning at 10.  It was fun.  I didn't work as hard as I could have bc I wanted to care of my knees and not over do it.  So I held back!  LOL.  It was a pretty good work out, though.

Tonight going to regional theatre - I don't know what play - husband's idea.  We will probably eat out somewhere in the next county over....

Doing OK on food.  Will post menus later.....

I'm impressed that, #1 - you did zumba with knee issues (I'm not gonna lie, I've been very hesitant to try it for that very reason) & #2, that YOUR HUSBAND came up with an evening activity! I have to "mention" EVERYTHING! Hope you caught a good play!

DAY 7!!!!!  I did the same ET/weight/stretch workout I have been doing this morning.  I forgot to mention that yesterday I upped the amps - or watts on the ET.  More challenging.  I like knowing that if I just get down in the basement, get on the ET and do the 25 minutes I am going to burn 200-220 extra claories and then if I do the ET there is no reason not to do the weights and stretching - so more calories and building muscle, which means I can eat more bc my body will burn more at rest, even, the more muscle I have!  If I do it in the a.m. I am good for the whole day!

B:  Baguette and butter, tea 150

S:  Granola Break Up + 1 slice turkey - 125 

L:  1/2 Turkey Sandwich, apple, 1/2 Grapefruit 225

S: Granola Breakup 250

subtotal 750 

D:  Lazy dinner - sourdough baguette and butter and scrambed eggs 

S:  0

not sure of the calories - don't care - see work out above.  I need more vegetables!!

Awesome with the working out!!! I am really excited about the Torani syrup possibilities. I had been using them for the last 10 years even when I wasn't dieting. I keep at least 10 different flavors on hand. Thanks for letting me know about Big Lots. I get it at World Market on sale and now Restaurant Depot. Years ago I had a business and we opened an account with a distributor and would by it by the case! we had a much better selection then... Good Luck with your workouts!

Great job on the exercise and food so far! For me, it's just a matter of getting down in the basement too! It's true once you get there it's easy, just have to get there! I love my eliptical trainer as well...I think that's what you mean by ET:) Thanks for the message. My niece still struggles with the depression, although she's 20 yrs old now. Now her younger sister who is 16 yrs old is going down the same path....so sad. Not with the weight issues, just the depression. It's hard enough for young girls with a healthy, loving, stable home when their teens, but these girls don't even have that. The younger one just moved in with my Mom now as well (her Grandma) I wanted her to come and live with me but I'm an hour away now and she didn't want to be that far away from her friends and change schools again. I always leave it open to her. My Mom is getting to old and her health is awful, she should be done with raising kids. Keep up the great work, so nice to see your still here sticking with it!!!

Day 6 of my new program!

Yesterday is updated and I did well on the calories, but felt I needed to rest last night so no exercise really yesterday - BUT I got up and did my 25 min ET , 10 min weights and 10 min stretch this morning!  Good thing, too, because I have a challenging day in front of me with all the following pitfalls:

Breakfast from a vendor - Panerra with many more special trimmings at the office

Lunch - Affiliated Professional organization - good food!

Meeting with my two girlfriends tonight at - yup - Panerra, again

I had breakfast at home this morning in hopes of not being too tempted at the office.  I will try to eat the best things at the luncheon, and I'll try to drink a lot of tea wtih my girlfriends tonight - decaf, that is!  Wish me luck!  What an amazing amount of food pitfalls in one day!

B:   2 scrambled eggs, 1/2 grapefruit, tea 160 

S:  Hazelnut coffee witih sweet cream-resisted all the free breakfast foods!!! 75

L:  Salad with ranch dressing on the side, 6 oz grilled salmon, 1/2 apple triangle thingy NO ROLL - NO BUTTER and I didn't like the vegetables they served, unfortunately.  The vegetables may have helped me resist the dessert.  I have 1.5 big glasses of water with the meal, too. Not sure of the calories?  450?

Now if I can resist Paneerra again this afternoon at 4:30!. 

UPDATE:  I did have a smaller heart shaped sugar cookie at Panera with my tea with my girlfriends this afternoon.  200

D:  1 C chili 350??

So somewhere around 1200-1300 cals and a good workout this morning (see above)!  Yay!

Updated yesterday and I thought I did terrible on calories - but when I added them up it was under 1400.  Weird.  I felt like I munched all day, but it was good stuff.  I was kind  of high going into dinner and went out with a friend, but I had a baked potato with LF dressing and then when I got home I ate granola bars - 2 - but they were the 90 cal kind - tasty.

I overslept, I was REALLY tired last night - I actually "almost" lept through the night and I really didn't have time to exercise this morning at all - it's OK though, because I will either do it tonight or in the morning.  I really KNOW this isn't an EXCUSE like I was making over and over again, day after day - it's real!

B:  2 scrambled eggs, tea 120

S:  Apple 70

L: 2 T pimento cheese and naked pita chips 350

S: granola bar 90

subtotal:  630

D: 1 C home-made chili, 3 oat and honey granola "break ups" 500

total for the day 1130.  I decided to rest on the exercise today and get up in time to do the ET and weights again tomorrow morning.  I have a chiropractor adjustment at 2:45 tomorrow and the day will be an eating challenge - vendors bringing in breakfast food in the a.m. - a business luncheon that usually serves great food for lunch.  So I will have to pay attention to my choices tomorrow for sure!

I didn't update yesterday's menu - but it wasn't much calories - I'm sure I came in on target with calories. 

And I know what you all are wondering this morning - (LOL) - did she have what it takes to exercise 4 days in a ROW?  Wel,,,,,,drum roll, please.......YES she did!  I did the same workout I did yesterday morning and it was GREAT!  I do need to begin about 20 minutes earlier so I'm not so rushed to get ready for work afterwards - but it's all good!

B:  Toaster Strudel - I know not very healthy - but my Mom gave them to us (out of her freezer - Dad loved them and so do I) and an apple - needed to get some protein in there, but didn't manage that - will do better at lunch and may havae a few nuts here in a minute at my desk, Tea - 250

S: Nuts - 200

L:  1/2 turkey sandwich 220

S:  More Nuts!   AGGGH 200 (I'll make it better later)

D:  baked potato with LF Ranch 300

Hi Holly, she didn't tell me anything about hormones. She told me to take some homeopathic product that doesn't do anything for me. I'll have to go back to her. On the other hand, my mother-in-law took hormones until she was in her 80's, which seemed to have worked for her. I don't know if I want to do that, though... we'll see.

RYC: My hub does the cooking and I don't like this beet soup. The only flavour I could identify was the beets, and I thought it had beans but is actually barley. It's rare not to like something he cooks, but this was it.

Hey Holly! I have 3 standard poodles and a boxer. The boxer is little thick and really borders on chubby compared to the poodles who are sleek and thin. The vet says she really needs to walk, so I leash all four up and walk. We hadn't walked in a while, and my oldest standard poodle is 14 and her legs appeared a little wobbly, so I brought her home and we only walked the other 3. It was as good for the dogs as it was for me! Congrats on your exercise commitment too!

Hi guys!  I didn't post all day yesterday, but......I have news.....and it's GOOD news!!!

I have exercised 3 whole days in a ROW! 

Saturday you can see below what I did - YAY!

Sunday (yesterday) I walked 2.5 miles with friends, husband and dogs.

Today I got up and did the ET, weights and stretches!  I did it in the a.m. because I am going to Imelda May concert tonight and won't get a chance.  And I didn't just BLOW it OFF! Yay!

B:  2 T pimento cheese and pita chips, apple, tea

The weather is so warm here!  I wish I could ride my bike today.  I am going to be motivated to stay/get in shape to ride as soon as I can - on that trail in OHIO - The little Miami Biking/walking Trail that I have wanted to ride for the last 3 years!

P.S.  We went to a musical this weekend - In the Heights.  It was GREAT.  Highly recommend it.  Was part of my Christmas present from husband.  Fabulous music - rapping and salsa plus a little Caribbean beat - can you say Carnival del Barrios?

ALSO - I want to mention I have been very pleasantly surprised to find that I have not been sore at all these last 3 days of exercising - walking isn't that stressful on me, but the ET program was pretty difficult - level 7 - and the weights, although lighter (5 - 10 pounds) I have done lots of reps. and haven't been the least bit sore!  Ha!  I'm coming baaacckkkk!

Progress as of today: 13.6 lbs lost so far, only 14.4 lbs to go!

We went to Chili's. The menu used to have calorie info on it, but it doesnt anymore. The menu said that their healthy entree were 750 calories or less. I chose the margarita grilled chicken sitting on a bed of rice and black beans. It was very flavorful and filling! I looked up the nutritional content on their online menu and thats how I found out the calorie content. The amount of sodium in it was insane, so I chugged a bunch of water once I saw that sodium count!

Anyway, Im glad you had a great weekend!

Well done on the workouts!! RYC I did okay with oatmeal raisin cookies but homemade chocolate chip would be nearly impossible to resist! I'd be tempted to have a big glass of milk and about 8 or 9 cc cookies!

I wanted to get through the weekend on the last $5 I had until payday :) like I said though, it wasn't that difficult, especially having most of my meals at Grandma's on Saturday ;)
