Very proud of you Holly, keep up the good work :)

sweetpea1977 on 05/18/2011:
Great job with the calorie intake and exercise. Good idea on pacing yourself. You sure dont want to burn yourself out!

Im still suffering from sleep deprivation. Im looking forward to the day that Mason sleeps consistently through the night. Im looking forward to sleeping in again, which probably wont happen until they are in their tweens, lol!

~Moody~ on 05/18/2011:
Wowee Holly, great day ya had yesterday!!

Sorry to hear you're not sleeping well~I always admire people who actually get up early, out of a nice warm bed, to workout! I can't do that, if I try, I set myself up for failure..So yeh, pacing yourself is a great idea!!

V on 05/18/2011:
Jet fuel is a supplement that gives a bit of a "lift" when working out..It is not a steroid nor addicting :) You can find it at GNC

moogy on 05/18/2011:
Good job with those calories and eating out as well. Well done!!

shaunnac on 05/18/2011:
I have to say that because I am doing no carbs that the word scone made my mouth drool. lol was it good? I feel your pain on the early mornings. I do hope you have a great day tomorrow =)

1465 cals yesterday.  1.5 mile walk.  Today so far 45 minute Turbo Jam

I want to do better on nutrition today!

B:  Coffee, Sugar Free Vanilla Creamer  - not hungry yet  150

L:  1 C LF Cottage Cheese and 1 C fresh pineapple  275

Our weather is in the low 50s! 20 degrees below normal!  Raining off and on, too.  GGGGRRRRRR!  I am so ready for some sun.  But last week I was complaining about unseasonably warm weather 89 degrees - go figure!

I must say, folks - I did a new Turbo section this morning and it was so much better.  I liked it.  I am slowly getting the moves - it's hard for me to remember to keep my "guard up" (fists up at my chin).  I am just not used to that, but turbo is a most excellent STANDING ab workout.  I real6y do like it.  My left knee is a bit sensitive this morning.  I wore my new sneakers and I am hoping this is the reason.  Also my right foot arch ached about 1/2 way thru - probably shoes laced to tight.  Listen to me you'd think I was OLD or something!  LOL!  56 years young folks - I CAN DO THIS!

Also I want to give kuddos to a co-worker who has lost 24 lbs!  She looks great and I am so inspired.  She has never exercised and never really dieted and had gotten up in weight to where she wants to lose about 75 lbs.  She purchased a total gym and works out with that almost every day.  She is doing a balanced diet and 5-6 small meals a day.

S:  11 Wheat thins and 2 LC Light Cheese 200

D:  YUMMY Shrimp and Grits 2/3 portion at darling  new restaurant.  600??

1225 Calories and a 2 mile walk plus 45 min of Turbo Jam.  Woo Hoo

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

V on 05/17/2011:
Did someone say TURBO???? Excellent!!! Way to get your day started Holly <3 I am sure the rest will be a breeze :)

Umpqua on 05/17/2011:
We're having cold, rainy weather here too that will last into next week - argh! I tried to restrain myself at the garden center LOL. I got some big boy tomato plants, basil, cilantro, a huge hanging petunia, and allysum (sp?), verbena, osteospermum, and million bells to make some annual arrangements in my galvanized buckets. Oh and bleeding heart. There may be a couple more I forgot ;)

legcramps on 05/17/2011:
You're doing an awesome job, Holly! Keep it up!

legcramps on 05/17/2011:
nah, I told Umpqua I should ask my friends who have cats to bring them over for a play-date. With the bugs. I don't want a cat, been there and I only have enough energy for one animal in the house at a time ;)

sweetpea1977 on 05/17/2011:
Its cold and rainy here too. I think it will be back in the 80's by Thursday though.

Great job on the exercise!! And congrats to your co-worker. Very inspiring!!

UPDATE:  Woo-Hoo the guy at the store fixed the phone!  I'm thrilled.

Didn't post yesterday - did fine on eating and went for a walk and potted yet more flowers for exercise.  I will get back on the Turbo train this week.

My new smart phone I purchased on 12/30 has had a complete meltdown.  It's a Droid X and I love it-until now! The warranty only provides a "like new" replacement.  I am going to the store to argue about this today.  I got nowhere with the service person on the phone.  I check on line blogs about problems with this phone and although this seems to be a common complaint there aren't that many complaints about this phone in general at all.  There was one or two posts that said they were on their 3rd or 4th phone but this was rare.  Figures!  We'll see what happens.....more later!..

B:   1 choc bar and tea  240 (Hey - I NEEDED IT OK???)

L:   One 5 oz can tuna in water, tea 150

S:  15 Wheat thins,1 T peanut butter and 1 T jam 450

D:  1 C Spaghetti, 1/2 cup sauce with one turkey meatball 300

S:  Cereal 225

1465 calories - 1.5 mile walk

Weight: 165.6

I haen't had an internet connection all day!!!  Until just now, that is.  So I didn't update yesterday, but it was a successful day.  Now, today is another story.  I thought I'd eat perfectly once Mark went out of town, but oh no.  I just decided to eat whatever I want.  I really haven't done all that badly, except for 2 whole wheat cookies (1 peanut butter and 1 choc chip) Probably total of 350 cals everything has been healthy foods.  My best guess is between 1800-2000 cals today.  I'll get back on the stick tomorrow for sure.  It was nice to just eat and not count today.  But I cannot do that often or I will not reach my goal.

Today I have had lots of exercise, although no turbo.  I have worked in the yard and potted many plants - for myself, for my neighbor and for my friend who also lives a few streets over.  This has involved picking out new pots and getting new potting soil for them and the old pots, too.  Picking out plants for sun, shade and everything in between and matching colors to house.  It is fun to me.  My neighbor is newly divorced (or almost divorced) and the children live with him.  This is a man I have known for almost 20 years and it was his daughter's prom night.  He was cleaning up the yard and porch last night to get ready for pictures of the prom kids tonight and mentioned that he didn't know what type of flowers to get.  So.........I volunteered.  I must say they look nice.  My girlfriend needed help with hers.  It's something I do for her almost every year-she only has two pots on her front porch and we made them look really good.  I am almost done with mine.  I have left overs and will probably just plant them in spots in the ground.

I'll take pictures of them when they grow up a little.  Right now they are just little plants in pots and not much to look at.

I took a bike ride for an hour.  Through my friend's neighborhood.  She got a new bike for mother's day.  I am the one that got her interested in riding last year so I am pleased she liked it enough to get her own bike.  We plan many more rides this summer.  Can't wait.  I can't believe I haven't ridden more this year yet.  Usually by this time I'm in pretty good bike shape.  The rain has been hard to deal with.  My knees didn't bother me on today's ride - and that is good news!

Sleep tight dear DD pals!   God bless.

Yesterday is updated. Under 1500 cals.   Didn't exercise yesterday see my comments about being tired on Thursdays.  I overslept today, too, but I will walk tonight if not do Turbo tonight!!  There will be exercise tonight.  No food yet,but I'll grab something later.

B:  Coffee, Fuji Apple 175

L:  1/2 LS Turkey sandwich w tiny mayo and double fibre bread

I brought pretzels and LC yogurt back to work with me for snacks later and I'm planning on easy dinner of spaghetti with turkey meatballs and a salad for dinner.  I may just eat meatballs and no pasta since I'm having the bread and pretzels.....low carb is the goal.  I should be able to do really well for the next few days because husbandn is out of town and I have plenty of exercise and healthy events planned that do not revolve around food.  YAY!

Yesterday was 1265 calories and 45 minutes of Turbo Jam DVD and 3 mile walk with dogs and husband.

I didn't exercise this a.m. neighbor didn't come AND I overslept a little.  Caught up on some housework this morning and taking a rest.

B:  Coffee,  2 eggs and 1/2 C pineapple  250

Off to a good start

Yesterday I came home and the big dog (black lab) had dug up two hostas and made a big mess in the small garden under our deck stairs.  He knew he was in trouble, too - he hung his head and looked scared.  I will rehab the area with two BIG pots planted with shade plants and maybe he will be less likely to get in there.  He likes it because it's cool ground, but there are other places for him to lay!  Short of this I will tape it off with that plastic "crime scene" tape.  That can be taken down and put back up easily when it matters.

L:  1/2 turkey sandwich on dbl fiber bread with a tiny bit mayo, one slice salami, 15 think pretzel sticks and 1 C grapes 330

S:  Mocha almond kashi bar 140

D:  1/2 Honey Wheat bagel w whipped Cream cheese,nuts 350

S:  Smoothie and nuts  400

1480 calories - not bad and No exericse  :o(   I am starting to see that Thursdays are my tired day.  Need a day of rest by Thurs right now.  That might improve as I work out more often.

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

(Healthy Eating and Exercise)
Weight: 165.6

Yesterday didn't really need updating because wasn't that much to tell.  I wound up not counting calories yesterday because I ate a bite of this a bit eo f that.  I think I did pretty well, though and I would estimate my caloires between 1600-2000 - probably somewhere in the middle.  This is sad to say, but I can't remember everything I ate, exactly.  I know I ate bread - which is typical when I have been doing low carb.  I will do low carb again this week, but I can't go nuts on low carb I just crave them more and more if I do.  I can lose weight sucessfully if I keep it reasonable though.

Exercise yesterday was 2 hours of yard work.  Some of it was hard - I worked up a great sweat - digging and bending and reaching, etc.  But some of it was sitting and potting plants.  That is one of my favorite things to do in the Spring - plant my pots.  I planted the following for all you gardners out there:

In the Front - Two Starry Night Violas.  These are so pretty and I planted them in the ground in front of Holly Scrubs.  I didn't replant my two big front porch pots because the pansies there still looks really good.   They can't stand the heat, though, so it won't be long before they will have to be replaced.

In the Back - 3 Larger Pots - I should have gotten even bigger ones!  Mixed planting - Yellow Marigolds (not my favorite, but they keep the bugs away and I get the ones that are small and look like daisies), Fushia colored mini bells are the anchor plant, white vinca (pepermint twist), blue ageratum (blue tide), choleas (gypsy dancer) and green and white hypoestes - they are going to look smashing!  2 smaller pots - same minus the mini bells - I have left overs and will plant some more pots of various sizes tonight.  I have to get some dirt for the pots.

I got up this morning and did 45 minutes of Turbo Jam and 15 minutes on the Elliptical.  Whew!  If you all want to know how the TJ is - it's not that hard but its a good workout to wake up and do in the morning. A good introduction to Turbo workouts.  I actually found the 45 minute workout EASIER than the 20 minute one twice the intensity is spreadout.  You can add or take away  intensity to ANY workout and make it suited to YOUR fitness level. For example, my knees just will not take jumping jacks so I step out INTENSLY side to side.  This burns as many calories as the jacks.  I like this dvd OK.

B:  Tea - didn't have time or appetite for anything else.

L:  1/2 ham sandwich on double fiber bread with smidge of mayo, pineapple (1 C),banana 350

D:  Went out to eat unexpectedly with husband and daughter!!!  I ate 1/2 rack of ribs, but nothing else.  no bread, no sides, no nothng.  ''''''''''''''''''''''''also daughter wanted to go to Orange Leaf after dinner and I didn't even go in or get anything!!  I LOVE that stuff!  I did have about 10 almonds when I got home, though.  Not sure of the calorie count- Maybe 500 for the ribs???  Not much sauce on them.  and I'd say 70 for the almonds......so say 600 all the rest of the day

950 Calories and 45 minutes Turbo Jam and 15 minutes on ET

Progress as of today: 12.4 lbs lost so far, only 15.6 lbs to go!

HI!!! It's been a very very long time!!!! Everything is good... I've been busy as usual, but I'm attempting to slow my life down a little bit... how is everything with you??? Your garden sounds amazing...I really wish I had more space to plant a garden. You must post pictures!!

Thank you... that was so sweet! Yes I did pass the bar thank god haha... I am kinda jumping from temp job to temp job... right now I'm a session employee at the NYS Assembly, but hopefully I will find out about a more solid job this week... how are things with you?

Haha, thanks! I figure I've had plenty of involuntary sleep deprivation with the boys over the years, so I could sacrifice a little in the name of good music on vacation!

Your plantings sound wonderful, very exciting! My Mom got me a salvia and a dianthus for my bday but it's too early to plant out here. Soon though. Have a good one!

holly your pots sound lovely. I have a small garden round the back of the house but it is planted for foliage rather than blooms so I get my flowers in pots too. I love bedding plants in pots

Your love of gardening and the planning of how it will look when everything comes into bloom comes through strongly in your post. I used to love working in my garden when I had my own home. Now I have my plants in pots on my balcony to care for. Have a great week holly:)
