1275 Cals - exercise was a little walking (very little) but better than nothing.

1425 calories yesterday and 1 hour Zumba.  Knee did ok but I took it easy in spots.

Today so far

B  - Coffee 75

Lunch will be at monthly Professional Assoc meeting so who knows.  I'll try to take it easy on whatever they have.

Tonight maybe more Zumba or a walk - 30 days of exercise is my challenge to myself this month.  It will be hard - I need to take care of Mom and Dad (a little bit).  Going to take their dog to the vet today.  Dad is feeling just a little bit better this morning.  He fixed his own breakfast!  Nasuea from chemo seems to be wearing off slowly.  He was SO sick this weekend - dark days, I'm telling you!  Praying this chemo works!

L:  3 grape tomatos, 4 oz baked chicken onions and squash, 1 roll with butter, coffee with cream (what I RESISTED - cheesecake with raspberry sauce!!!-the people on both sides of me ATE theirs! but it was my choice and it wasn't that hard for me - thought of the rewards not the sacrifice!)  400  

D:  Soup and bread  - 400

Well, later on I didn't think of the reward or the sacrifice - daughter made Puppy chow AGAIN!!! and I are a bunch - 500

Still had about 1375 calories - and 2 mile walk!

Good luck with your exercise challenge! I did one a few months ago, and it was great to have a goal like that. I plan on starting another one soon.

I think that giving yourself a challenge might be a good way for you to focus some attention on what you need at this trying time. The fact that you are still trying hard to eat healthily and look after yourself with the load you are carrying is admirable.

Greetings all and Happy New Year to you!

Got on the scales (a big deal for me, you know) and was surprised to learn that I have "only" gained 2 pounds (exactly) over the holidays.  I will give it my best shot to eat well as I was prior to December 20th (or there abouts) and get back into exercise.  Between my swollen knee and a bad cold I have not really done much exercise for a month!

Will still only be posting/commenting sporatically, but miss you guys! 

Breakfast  1/2 scone and  coffee 325

Lunch Vegetable Beef Soup  350

Dinner - two pieces of corn bread and a smoothie - wierd but tasty  750

Yup just as I thought - right around 1425 Seems to be my set point on calories

1 hour Zumba - knee did "OK"  I'm still babying it.

Only 2 lbs isn't bad at all. I think that's actually quite fabulous (and I'm very envious). Hope you're feeling better. I'm still dealing w/a cold that won't go away. Frustrating. Hope this is a great week for you! :)

I REALLY over did it this weekend.  Oh well.  It's been a long time since I've eaten that badly.  I made gingerbread with lemon sauce and ate a piece, I made ginger snap cookies, (see the theme here?) and I made puppy chow.  My parents gave me a small bag of peanut brittle made by their neighbor - it's the BEST.  I really enjoyed it all, but don't feel compelled to keep eating this way - so that's a good thing. 

I'll do better this week.  I am not upset about it. 

Can't really catch up with you guys much lately - sorry.

It hasn't been out of the 20's and 30's here for so long!  Had an ice storm night before last and all is still layered in ice and slick driving.  It hardly ever is this cold this early in KY. 

Yesterday was not a good food day.  My first in a long time and it wasn't really that bad.  I just ate a little too much.  It wasn't even good food, either.  Ate fries and a cupcake, pumpkin bread.  I think it was because I was sad.  My dad found out the cancer has come back in the lymph nodes in his abdomen.  He will have more chemo - 6 months worth beginning in January.  

Today is another day.  Onward and upward!

Ahh! Holly, I am sorry, it is no wonder you were trying to find some comfort. It sounds really serious this time holly, do you know what the doctor's have told him to expect. It is always best to have all the information, so you don't worry excessively or prepare for a rough time. I am sending you lots of love today, I wish I could give you a cuddle.:)

Yesterday was OK - ate a little too much at the dinner - candies!  But I really haven't been eating much sugar and I'm back to good habits today.  It was really no more than a blip on the screen.  You know, if we just keep our heads and don't react to every little thing, it gets better.  Of course I still haven't figured out why I am able to do that some days and not able to ohers - and it seems to go in "spells"---- stretches of time (for those of you not from the SOUTH-hee-hee) for both.......Go figure!

Anyway onward and upward!

Ups and downs. Happens! Sometimes I have this eager to eat sg sweet - and then, I am unable to stop. My mind knows that one piece should be enough, but my hands and mouth seem to work by themselves... very frustrating.. And you got back to good habits, so... just move on, forget it! :)

Ahh, these products are not expensive either, the Uriage cream is, but that comes from my man who had this as Dr's prescription, but in the meantime he got rid of his leg skin irritation problem and doesn't need it anymore.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and wishes, everyone  I can definitely feel the love!

Dad had his PET scan yesterday - won't hear what it shows until next week.

Did good on eating yesterday - around 1200 cals.  Have a Wed Night Ladies Group dinner tonight - pot luck.  We don't go all out on food, though.  So it should be OK.

I didn't get to go to Zumba last night - felt kind of bad by end of the day - sinus issues.  Used Nettie Pot 2 X and feel some better.  Will keep it up.  I was out of the powder mix I use in it.  If you don't use one - I highly recommend it.  Helps with colds and sinus stuff.  

More later.  Sorry I am not commeneting on others diaries right now.  I'll try to read and catch up.  Love, Holly

My neti pot is the only thing that helps my sinuses! I also use a fine sea salt, any other recommendations for it are welcome. Still thinking of you!

Guys I am just stopping by to say hello and I have not fallen off the face of the earth!

Just really busy busy busy!

Hope to catch up to you all soon!  I have been doing quite well with eating - even think I may have dropped a pound or so???  Did Zumba (gently) Friday night and no pain - going to try it again soon.

No word on Dad yet - except he has enlarged lymph nodes and has to have a pet scan today the ct scan didn't allow them to see much due to enlarged lymph nodes.  Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers, please keep them coming!

Oh yay! back on with the Zumba, gently with yourself now! Thank goodness for modern medicine and that they can find out what is wrong with people. Updated Wednesday - 1135 cals - no exercise due to resting knee (STILL)!!

Just not hungry at lunch yet - waiting to hear about my Dad's doctor visit.  We believe his cancer is probably back.  He has symptoms.  He had CT scan last week - dr visit today at 3:30.

it will probably take about 2 weeks for you to feel better with the knee. i know it sucks, but try to take it easy. when you start to feel a little better, do some strengthening exercises for your quads and also just point and flex your foot a lot...it will help strengthen all of the muscles around the knee in the leg:)

It is a difficult time when our parents are really ill. I always felt helpless and a bit desperate. I am hoping for the best outcome for your dad. As for the knee, patience holly. If you keep control of your eating it will help you feel more in control about your life, which will feel a little out of your control at the moment. I speak from experience. Hugs for you.
