Maria7 on 08/17/2010:
Cals lookin' good. :-)

loveray on 08/17/2010:
have a wonderful day !!!

legcramps on 08/17/2010:
Now that's a bike ride! I wouldn't be able to walk today if I rode a bike for that long...

geevee on 08/17/2010:
I'd definitely try to make the Storytelling Fest Oct. 1-3 (one or more of the days) It is well worth it! And if you live within driving distance, do make the effort! All the hotel rooms have probably been sold out for ages.

This time will be my third. It is so well done. If they had it twice a year I'd be trying to work out going twice!

V on 08/17/2010:
Hi Holly quite a great workout you had! Very impressed :)

moogy on 08/17/2010:
Your advice was well heeded, I made those suckers and sent them downstairs. I didn't eat a single one. Thanks for the advice. I hope you have a great day.

Maria7 on 08/18/2010:
Hi there...hope you're having a nice day today, Hollybelle. :-)

sweetpea1977 on 08/18/2010:
I usually ride my elliptical while catching up on tv shows/movies on my slow days and listen to fast-paced musice on my high intensity days. There is no way I could do my elliptical if I didnt have anything to watch or listen to!

Hope you're having a great Wednesday!

Weight: 168.2

Updated yesterday.  No exercise :o(  Sad - it's so hot, but I could have done the ET.  Just not in the "mood" to do it - ever really - it's so boring!  But SOME exercise is better than none!  I will do something tonight.  Temp is supposed to be lower tonight - bike???  If not bike I will do something!

B:  Coffee, 75 biscuit with cinn sugar  175

L:  Cottage Cheese 180, sm tomato 40  220

S:  Tea 2 triscuit and one thin slice of sharp cheddar 80

D:  Gucamole chicken tostada  400

Will probably have a snack later up to 200 cals so estimate  1075 cals for the day

UPDATE:  Snack was 160 cals so my estimate was close.

I rode my bike 1.25 Hours  Weather was lovely - less humid and my neighbor across the creek rode with me!  She was happy, too!

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

just42day on 08/16/2010:
I think it's really hard to be motivated to exercise when it's so hot. Hopefully, today will be a cooler day for you!

loveray on 08/16/2010:
it is SO hot, i know its hard to get out there. be easy with yourself and maybe find a pool or some indoor activity that is refreshing and relaxing. you deserve it!! xo

2luvself on 08/16/2010:
Hit an indoor pool if you can. I try to hit my recreational centers pool at least 4 times a week. Its really refreshing and I always get a happy high from the exercise because it gets so much blood flowing. Anyways hope you find something to do tonight. Good luck and keep it up.

legcramps on 08/16/2010:
Have a good day today!

Moody3 on 08/16/2010:
Just wondering if you listen to music while on the elliptical? I not only listen to music while on my treadmill, but try to time my workouts along with good shows on the Game Show Network. LOL~Deal or No Deal or The Price Is Right are my two favorites to watch while on the treadmill, because I don't have to hear the tv to know what's going on! Anything to make the time pass quicker!!!

Hope you had a great Monday!

moogy on 08/16/2010:
I don't blame you for not exercising in the heat, I hope it cooled down enough for you to get on your bike.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 08/16/2010:
LOL. I love the elliptical in my gym. I can see everyone, look at all the weightlifters as they exercise. :-)

Maria7 on 08/16/2010:
It probably won't be long and it'll cool off and it will be more pleasant to be outside. :-)

moogy on 08/16/2010:
Thanks Holly, I think that is what I am going to do, I am half way through the prep now and I am just going to keep four up hear for the boys afternoon tea and take the rest downstairs. Thanks for the advice.

nita51 on 08/17/2010:

its so hot here today too :( try to stay cool, have a great day.

loveray on 08/15/2010:
i love your thought process regarding yesterdays disappointment. we never know what we are going to get when we go out on a limb and try for something different...however, trusting that the universe knows better than we do, has never proved me wrong- and i suspect when you look on past decisions, you see the same pattern. lots of love!

cleaneating on 08/15/2010:
Homemade biscuits, you just can't beat homemade! Have a nice day.

Maria7 on 08/15/2010:
Hope you're having a nice day! Yes, I saw a weather report (over the internet) that Kentucky was having even warmer weather than SC yesterday...I even told Hubby. But...it IS August and it is usually one of the warmest months of the year...won't be long til fall! :-)

moogy on 08/15/2010:
I hope you enjoyed the rain last night even though it will make things extra humid today. I hope you have a good one holly and get that exercise in. Thank you for your comment.

just42day on 08/15/2010:
Humidity's been ugly in the midwest, too. Stay cool!

V on 08/15/2010:
I am sorry that things didn't work out the way you wanted them to :( I am certain that the right job will come to you :)

lobster on 08/15/2010:
weird question re food... i am not from the U.S and i know from t.v and things that our idea of biscuits basically equate with your cookies. what are biscuits then? just curious!

Updated yesterday's post.  It appears I eat about 1300-1500 calories even when I don't keep strict count as I go.  I guess that's a good thing.  As long as I don't have too big a portion or have dessert it all works out.  I need to exercise just alittle bit more.  I think when the weather cools off I will.

I had a disappointment yesterday and I think I handled it, emotionally, very well.  I hadn't mentioned it on dd, I don't think, but, about a month ago someone I used to work for called me about a job.  It was a position I was well suited for and since they called me, I thought my chances were more than good.  They said they'd get back with me in about 2 weeks, but when I didn't hear back I figured somethng was up.  I got an email yesterday saying they had hired someone else.  It was someone who was laid off from the company a few months ago so it wasn't like a total unknown candidaate to them.  They said they still thought I was a good fit and hoped I would consider a position with them in the future.  I wrote back and said I appreciated being considered and that while I was dissappointed not to be chosen, I certainly would like to be a candidate for future positions.  I do like my current job, but the other job was just my style.  They also may have decided that they could get the other person for less salary or something....who really knows.  I truly would have had a hard time leaving my current position.  I really would like to make more money, but don't need more stress so it would have to be a balance.  When all is said and done I do believe that if that's where I was meant to be I would have gotten the job.  That is what I prayed for - so I have to trust that this is the right thing.  The good part is I didn't get really emotionally "down" about it and I didn't feel "unworthy" or particularly "rejected" .  I felt kind of "quiet".  I'm sure I'll think about it for several more days, but I realize I don't have to get all emotional over setbacks or dissapointments if I chose not to.  It's a bit hard, but I know I can think about dissappointments and stressful things in a healthier way if I really want to and work on it.  It is my hope that this new way to thinking will help me reduce emotional eating and help me in a lot of other ways, too.  It feels weird, but I'm just not willing to continue in the way I have always been.  I just don't want that anymore.  Thanks for listening dear dd buddies!!!!

B:  Coffee 75, 2 tortillas with cinn & sugar 200 = 275

L:  Tortilla, tuna salad, lettuce, tomato, Bit of pepper jack cheese 250

Dinner at Good Foods Co-Op - YUM  Will find it difficult to resist dessert tonight?  I don't know....depends on what they have.

D:  Talapia croquette, 5 brussel sprouts with feta, 2 tiny pieces of seasoned new potato 350?

S:  Home made smoothie for dessert - nothing else tonight..... 250

sorry bout the job thing :( hope u have a good day.

Moody3 on 08/14/2010:
Hey Holly, thanks for your comment~=)

Sorry about the job~but I am with you in believing that were it meant to be, it would've happened. Being disappointed is a natural response, let it process~

Good for you in handling it without turning to food~that's progress and with progress comes success!! WTG!

Maria7 on 08/14/2010:
I see that you are also being 'mindful' about how you allow stress to affect or not affect you. Apparently that job was just not for you. It could have proven to be something you totally would have regretted haven taken. Even more money isn't worth it if a job adds a lot of stress to you. (Not saying it would or wouldn't have, but I surely have been through times when I was promoted to a much higher paying position and worked for someone else and it turned out to be very stressful.) But you sound like you are really happy where you are. :-)

Sounds like you're doing really well with your calories! :-)

moogy on 08/14/2010:
Feeling 'quiet' about the job situation is usually an indication of "it wasn't the one for you" in my experience. I am glad you kept your calories in the ball park. Thank you for your encouragement.

V on 08/14/2010:
I am certain that you will find the job for you! if not come on down to the bar and work with me :) Good

We mustn't let ourselves get out of them too long while they are in season, should we? I tried freezing some and when they thawed out, they definitely were NOT the same...even tried microwaving them from frozen to just cold and forget it....ick! So, the time to enjoy them is definitely now. We'll probably have them through the end of this month here in SC and maybe into the first part of September, don't remember for sure about September, though. They are mainly an AUGUST DELIGHT! :-D

KathyBlue on 08/13/2010:
good result anyways!

Updated last night for snack - wound up with 1245 cals for the day and wonderful bike ride last night after it unexpectedly cooled down!

Today so far:

B:  Coffee 75 - will eat more - just not hungry right now 2 pumpkin squares 275

L: BBQ sandwich w 1/2 Bun = 420  No slaw no beans etc.

S:  2 pumpkins squares 200

Repair man came for dryer which quit last night.  $151.00 for the repair.  Good news is my ice dispenser on 'frig has been out of order for 2 years and I was too cheap to call them because we had ice - just had to get it out of the bid by hand.  The only thing that was wrong with that was a connection behind a screwed on panel that was loose!  So he didn't charge me for that (supposedly).  Good to have things in working order again!

D:  Really just had a series of snacks - but sometimes that works  I had:  Smoothie 225, a few crackers and PNB 200, 1 slice swiss cheese 70,

S:  4 triscuit thingys 160

Total cals = 1550  that's probably a little high, but rather err on the high side......

Drank lots of tea and water today.  Worked out in the yard for about an hour and didn't walk or bike due to HEAT.

Drinking a giant iced tea with Truvia.  Hoping it cools off so I can walk or bike tonight!

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

Maria7 on 08/12/2010:
Very disciplined with the calories (as well as the work-out). You are really doing well. So happy for you. I hope you have a very blessed day and all goes well. Will be checking back to your journal for any updates. Take care. :-)

Umpqua on 08/12/2010:
Isn't Truvia wonderful? I've been baking with it and it doesn't have the after taste of some of the other stevia blends. Hope you have a great evening!

moogy on 08/12/2010:
Excellent work with the repair man. Good calories for the day. It was a good day all round - except for the 151 bucks, but we can't have everything!!

Rode almost an hour on my bike (about 55 minutes) - it got dark on me!  The weather cooperated and for that I am very grateful!  It rained a little this afternoon - got real steamy and then, wonder of wonders - it actually cooled off!  I will eat a little something else (smoothie??) before bed.  Subtotal for the day is:  1085 so I have a few more cals  to go, if I get hungry.  I'm  really not very hungry right now.  Having a big glass of diet ice tea - decaf - to hydrate after my ride.  Night Night DD buddies!

Yep, talk about the weather, we are in another heat wave with heat warnings from 12-6 pm. Hope you have a good day. :-)

KathyBlue on 08/11/2010:
pumpkin bar, I'd love to try that! :)

loveray on 08/11/2010:
no, mine doesnt really get oily, but i think i drink coffee faster than anyone i know:) if you dont like the fake flavor of the cool whip, i far enjoy using light real whipped cream- not necessarily a "diet" food, but has less chemicals and tastes so much better. in addition, i have also used a milk frother (with skim or soy milk) and it creates a wonderful foamy texture on top, which also has nutrients and protein! good luck xo

liza36 on 08/11/2010:
Hope you are having a good day. It was 100 yesterday, and high 90s today. It's just too hot to do anything in that kind of weather. It does make you more tired I think.

The pumpkin bar sounds like it would be good.

sweetpea1977 on 08/11/2010:
Ethan is able to entertain himself, he just hates sitting in the house all day. I've tried taking him outside for a bit, but I literally feel myself getting even more nauseous, overheated, and dizzy moments after walking out the door.

That grinder sounds good. I want one!

moogy on 08/11/2010:
OK, something else I don't know about - what is a pumpkin bar? I am picturing it like a museli bar - but of course, I am probably wrong.

V on 08/11/2010:
I hope you get some rest! Yes I will post after my talk. There are so many things that I want to say to him...

Maria7 on 08/11/2010:
I would have liked to have gone bike-riding with you! Wow...you sure did get a BIG WORKOUT done. 55 mins of bike-riding is a lot of calories burned! Hope you have a wonderful evening, Hollybelle. :-)

Updated yesterday.  No wonder I snacked until bedtime.  I was tired, walked and really didn't eat enough!  Can't remember the last time I said that - it's not good to eat too little, either!

Anyway - It's going to be 100 degrees here today!  BEFORE the heat index.  I think it's safe to say I won't be ridiing my bike or walking tonight.  I will do INDOOR elliptical trainer and weights tonight.

B:  2 pieces of 50 cal toast with little butter and jam, ICED coffee  275

L:  Kid's Lasagne from Fazoli's 1/2 breadstick ($1.00 on Tuesdays!!! ) 360

S:  Pumpkin Square 100

Subtotal 735

D:  3 pretzels - kind of a warm up I guess with Husband.  2/3 peice of fish (talapia) with a sauce I really didn't care for - got it out of cooking light - and not a total loss as I believe I can modify it next time to tast much better!  A few strawberries, green beans 350

S:  grapes, peach 300

No exercise.  I was SO HOTTTTT outsice - around 100 today and I was legitimately tired.

Progress as of today: 9.8 lbs lost so far, only 18.2 lbs to go!

tangalyn on 08/10/2010:
hope u have a good day, keep urself cool :)

just42day on 08/10/2010:
Yes, do stay indoors when weather's that hot. We're supposed to have lots of humidity and 90 degree temps in the Chicago area as well. Have a great day!

liza36 on 08/10/2010:
At least you have great indoor ways to exercise and stay active. It's going to be a scorcher here today too. Stay cool!

sweetpea1977 on 08/10/2010:
Ugh, we'll be about five degrees cooler here (without the heat index). But honestly, once it gets past 90 degrees here it all feels miserable to me. Good decision on staying inside!

Maria7 on 08/10/2010:
I didn't know it gets warmer on some days in Kentucky than SC...I always in my imagination like to think of Kentucky as a COOL state in the summer and snowy in the winter....are you in the mountains??? We are to be in the mid-90's and that's not counting the high humidity nor the heat index here, either. What kind of 50 cal bread do you use? Hope you're having a nice day. :-)

legcramps on 08/10/2010:
ooo, yes, stay inside today!!! Hope you have a wonderful day.

nenak on 08/10/2010:
well what can i say about the uk weather. rain, rain and more rain and some thunderstorms not even making 20 celcuis. poor for the middle of summer. have a great day

Maria7 on 08/10/2010:
You're doing real good with your calories! :-) (Just read your update after lunch and snack.)

Umpqua on 08/10/2010:
Pumpkin squares sound great! Thanks for the life insurance advice and I wish you could be my agent too :) Quick question - I always fast before a cholesterol test but I do drink water at night and even the morning of. Is that OK? If I can get better results I'll cut that out too but I figure it's good to keep hydrated.

I am posting the words to one of my favorite songs.  I like to listen to this when I am filled with self-doubt and start forgeting who I am and listening to those old lies that show up in my head again from time to time.  I hope it will have meaning to someone today who needs it!

The Voice of Truth – Casting Crowns

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes
To climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves

To step out of my comfort zone
Into the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out His hand

But the waves are calling out my name
And they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy, you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the voice of truth tells me a different story
The voice of truth says, "Do not be afraid!"
The voice of truth says, "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand

But the giant's calling out my name
And he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times
I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again. "Boy you'll never win!"
"You'll never win!"

But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them lookin' down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me

I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth

Good job on the long walk. I cant wait for it to cool down here so I can resume my four mile walks. I love how walking clears the mind while providing you good fresh air and sunshine (or a beautiful sky at night!).

Years ago I fixed fried green tomatoes...cooked a lot of them and took them to church. I think they were all eaten. I haven't had any in a long time. I recently tried tomatoes on toast by Cleanliving...very good...I put just a dab of low cal mayo on mine. Your menu looks REAL GOOD.
