Day 25!  Challenge today as husband and I are going to this neat little restaurant for dinner and a little concert afterwards - two guitar players.  I will try to choose wisely.

So far today I've not eaten anything because my insides are still upset from dinner last night!  :o(

What I have planed is:

B:  Raisin Bran Crunch, splash of milk and Tea 170

I'll update later to see what I actually do!

Sorry I won't have time to visit diaries until the weekend - work has gotten very busy!  THANK YOU all for your comments, though!

L:  Ritz crackers 140 turkey 60, Naturally More Peanut Butter w/ extra flaxseed 170, 1/2 tuna stuffed potato  100=470

Subtotal for the day = 640 (so far so good)

Yeah, I know these challanges. Mine loves the "all you cat eat" restaurants, and he doesn't want to give up the habit of going. So we're going tomorrow. I'm going to eat only grilled veggies and some meat and then some fruit. It will be a big challenge but then I'll be proud of myself and will be a small victory for my diet! :)

Day 24 - Yesterday was OK.  Did the ET and weights last night.  Didn't get up in time to exercise this a.m. so will have to be sure to exercise after 7 pm tonight.  I know from past experienice that exercise makes ALL the DIFFERENCE in my losing.  I am still not going to weigh myself.  I just don't feel confident enough.  I will probably wait another month.

So far today:

Middle of the night snack - hardly ever do this - I wake up alot, but don't usually eat when I do- Crunchy Oat Cherrios, 1/2 banana splash milk 175

B:  few blueberries, 2 T greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, 4 slices turkey, Tea 170 

Subtotal 345

So I'm still OK on the calories since I didn't go over 400 for the  total of night-time snack and breakfast!  AND I'm actually feeling full.

I am taking a client to lunch today at Craker Barrel (it's the only place near where they are located).  I plan to have vegetables only and keep it reasonable!   

L:   Pinto Beans, couple of bites of Broccoli casserole (not good) carrots, two corn muffins with jam  430

Subtotal 775

Went to dinner with my dad.  Mexican!  Yikes - ate too much chips and salsa - it wasn't even that good  - new restaurant and I wasn't impressed.  I did like the quesadilla, though - I only ate 1/2 of it - wasn't much cheese in it - mostly beans and a tiny bit of beef chunks (like I said I wasn't impressed, but it was tasty)

D: Chips and Salsa 200 , 1/2 Bean and Beef quesadilla 500, granola bar 140

1615 Total Cals - No exercise - got home late and stomach was upset - see above re:  bad dinner!!

Still not too bad - only day I have gone over my calories (I think and only then by 115.  So - could have been worse.  I'm just sorry it was for food that was definitely NOT worth it.

Day 24! Awesome! It doesn't sound like YOU'RE very impressed with Day 24, but I think you should be. BECAUSE it's Day 24. I think you should think up a Day 24 dance. Sort of like the potty dance, but a little more twisting and jumping to signify the better shape you're in. Anyways, I think you're doing great. Keep it up and have a great DAY 25!!!!

I enjoy legcramps' comment so much! :-) I agree. I never do middle of the night snacks. The secret is to eat a small something, a healthy bit of snack right before going to bed... then you won't wake up starving.

YES!!!  Day 23!

Did "OK" yesterday (mostly).  I was tempted by some chocolate peanut clusters at the grocery - and had 3.  I worked the calorie count into my day and still kept below 1500 - so I guess that's OK. Check out my updated entry for yesterday for all the details.  My shoulders are sore from the push ups I did yesterday - and abs feel tighter from the ab work.  Hey - wait - I didn't walk yesterday, but I did do those exercises in the morning so I DID do something!!  How soon we forget!  Did them again this a.m., but planning walk or elliptical trainer tonight.

So far today:

B:  Crunchy Raisin Bran Cereal, 1/2 banana and splash of ff half n half TOTAL 435

L:  Crackers 80, Peanut Butter 140, strawberries and blueberries and yogurt 120, 1/2 Tuna Stuffed Potato 100 TOTAL 360

Subtotal for the day  795

D:  Chili. Cornbread w. flaxseed, honey   450

Total Cals 1245  Exercise 20 minutes on ET and 15 minutes weights

I bought myself a workout video from amazon yesterday, which i'm planning on doing in the mornings. That is, if I manage to get myself out of bed. It's so nice when you do something in the morning because if that's all you do all day, at least you still did SOMETHING, right? So, good for you in getting up early and getting those workouts in! Keep it up!

I *always* set my alarm for two hours before I need to be at work. If I would actually GET UP at that time, I would have no problem fitting in an exercise or two. What I need to do is get out of the habit of pushing the SNOOZE button all th time!

Yeah, getting up earlier is very difficult... :) I'm going to do that because I'm going to have tennis at 7 AM three times a week. Have no other choice, work is filling up my timetables from 9 AM to ... X PM. Woo - Hoo - the start of another week.  Week NUMBER FOUR!!

Day 22 - See my update of Saturday's entry for the rundown on Sat & Sun.  I did OK.  No real temptations on the food as there wasn't that much good food around and we didn't have time to eat out anyplace nice on Sunday!  I am going to the grocery tonight as didn't go this weekend.  We shopped for new furniture - we replaced old and very uncomfortable bar stools and kitchen table chairs!  I have been "looking" for some for about 3-4 YEARS!  I have wanted to change the look in my kitchen from kind of "country" to something more updated, but MOST of all COMFORTABLE.  We got four leather parsons chairs for the table and two leather seated barstools with backs.  I love them and husband and I actually agreed!   Got good prices on them and I had actually saved the money for them and had it set aside ear-marked for this very thing.  OK enough about furniture, but it will make out dining experience in the kitchen more enjoyable! 

For those who wanted to know my chicken pot pie "recipe".  Pretty plain, and simple, really.  I use seasoned cooked chicken - can even use one of those rotisserie birds from the grocery or the leftovers of one, etc.  I saute lots of onions in some broth, some combine frozen mixed vegetables plus some cooked potatoes (can use canned diced if short on time), and  whatever odds and ends of vegetables I have leftover in 'frig at the time, some salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, little gr red pepper, italian seasoning and a can of 98% fat-free cream of chicken soup in a pot and cook just until the vegetables are done. barely cooked.  Turn that into a sprayed pie plate or casserole - top with Low Fat biscuit mix made according to the package and bake.  Experiment - sometimes I use broccoli and cauliflower and some Light Laughing Cow cheese in there, too.  It's fun to use your imagination to create new twists......:o)  ENJOY

L:  Turkey - 1 T Mayo (yes, I know, but I can't give up everyting all the time), 8 Ritz crackers, blueberries and orange 405 

S:   Candy - Peanut clusters (3)  200

D:  Chick/Beef Fajita Homemade - 250

S:  Berries and Greek Yogurt  160

S:  Skinny cow Ice cream Sandwich 140

1350 Totall Cals - No exercise, except laundry & housework - Bad weather again tonight

I never made chicken pie before, but yours is very tempting! It's on my mental "to do" list.

About roasted fennel: cut off the celery-type shoots that grow out of the bulb and save them for homemade soup. Also, the spray-like dark green is very good for flavoring.

Cut the bulb into 1-2" sq. pieces. Spray a big pan w/Pam. place the fennel pieces on it and either spary more Pam on top of them or drizzle some oil over them. Cook at 375 for half an hour. The fennel will turn brown and taste so good!

I like changing things around furniture-wise every so often too. Since i've only been in my house for a few months, nothing needs changing yet, but eventually it will! It's so much fun to look for modern furniture and just really neat things to incorporate into the 'look' of your house. Glad you had fun!

Thanks girl, I'll do that. I think I will have an extra light day today to make me feel better (around 1000 - 1200 cal) and then go to dance class tonight and try to go every week night. I think I am also going to try to have just for this week and maybe next, a pre made dinner, like lean cuisine with extra veggies, that way i dont lose track of portions and cals like i have been doing when I cook or eat out. xoxo

Day 20!  YAY!  Almost 3 weeks gone.  I did fine yesterday.  Check out my updated entry.  I'm making chicken Pot Pie for lunch/dinner today.  It's really healthy, though.  Going to watch it today and have some special foods tomorrow as I am going to be out of town at the play in Cincinnati.  It will be OK.  I will exercise as much as I can today, too.  I still have to put away Christmas decorations!!  They are all gathered and in the basement, at least.  Tree is still up!!  

Got behind after being gone all day Saturday.  Won't post menus for Saturday and Sunday, but will post totals only.  I will post recipe for chicken Pot Pie on Monday's Entry for those interested.

Saturday 1225 Cals / 3 Miles Walking

Sunday 1450 Cals / No real exercise just situps and pushups  :o(      due to travel and play, etc. 

Food temptations weren't really an issue after all because we didn't have time to eat anyplace nice because daughter went with us and we left later than intended.  About the most exciting thing I had was an Arby's Regular Roast Beef sandwich LOL - no fries of course!  Managed to eat fairly healthy all weekend.  Just wish I had more exercise on Sunday.

Day 19 - Well, yesterday was "interesting".  True Confessions:  After making such a big deal about those stupid donuts and not having any of them all day long I went to the food co-op (which I hardly ever get to go to anymore because it's far away - but I was by there on the way to dentist) about 3:00.  I intended to get some products that they sell that are only available there - which I did, BUT they have this delicious bakery and I found my hand going in and picking out 3 cookies.  I was going to have one as a snack and the other two were to be for my family.  I ATE ALL THREE!  I'm not sure how many calories they had in them - they use less sugar and whole wheat flour, etc. but....I counted them as 1000 cals for the 3 of them.  Then I felt so bad - not really terrible, but I REALLY, REALLY didn't want to have a BIG calorie total so I said I would eat light for dinner.  Came dinner time I was not hungry at all so I had 3 glasses of water and that was it.  Now - this was not a stellar day, however, it was not a total loss.  I will eat better today and this weekend.  I need another weekend of good success to keep me going down the path.  So far today:

B:  Toast (homemade bread) 1/2 T butter and 1T Peach jam, Tea

Going to homemade vegetable restaurant at lunch with friend.  Plan to get 2-3 vegetables and water.  YUM! 225

L:  Corn Kale Fried Green Tomatos 2 corn sticks 500

D:  Naturally More Peanut butter, 5 Ritz crackers, hummus pita chips 500

Total calories 1225 Exercise  45 minutes walking w husband & dogs

1000 cals?? wow, that's very much, I think you punished yourself. You have to be careful with this. And you shouldn't have skipped dinner... what I do when I'm not hungry is eating a kiwi or something very light and small.

I heard on a talk show, that it's actually better have the snack that you want and get it out your mind, than to keep desiring it later. Anyway, that was just one episode. Today is a brand new day. lol to the tofu milkshake. they are separate items i had. i had some microwaved (i like to refer to it as baked) tofu as a side. then, i had this milkshake that they sell in the ice cream section in stores. what you do is just add skim milk up to the line on the container and the whole shake is ONLY 150 calories. and it is good. :-) i forget the brand but i think they're made on the east coast. i've only seen them around for a few months...

Day 18 !!   Only 3 more days after this one and I'll have completed 3 whole weeks of healthy eating and exercise.  Feeling a little tired today - not sure why.  It's raining here (again) - better than snow - but that's supposed to begin again next week - with ICE!  Rainy days make me sleepy - but I'm actually tired.  I have a bit of a challenge coming up this weekend.  Husband and I are going to Cincinnati for a play and dinner on Sunday.  Want to be sure not to have a setback.  will meditate on that and work it out in my head.

So far today:

B:  Porridge 1/2 sm banana, Tea  300 (?)

L:  Vegetable soup & yogurt with peaches 300

S:  3 Cookies!!  1000(?) 


Total 1600 Calories - Exercise None

Still no donuts!!!!  Going home in half an hour!

Hiya Holls,your really enjoying your porridge are'nt you.I have it every now and again,i have to really fancy it.At the mo i enjoy bran flakes with sultanas in,if i'm really hungry a sliced banana sliced on top.A friend who i work with has chopped nuts and honey with hers something different.The weather here now is lovely and sunny.It rained alot fri and sat so it washed the ice away,but with the rain has made everywhere water logged.Where i like to take Alfie for his run is like a lake.I have done my bit in the gym this morning,i must admit i do feel good when i've finished my walk on the treadmill.Try and be good until sunday,then just enjoy yourself within reason!!!you will soon get back into it when you get home i'm sure,take care,Jules

Day 17!!  Yesterday was a good day.  I ate some odd stuff for dinner, but had more appetite than the last few days.  I know I waited too late to eat breakfast yesterday - and almost today so I won't do that again.  That seets me up for late afternoon, nighttime munchies.

So far today:

B:  1/4 C porridge, blueberries, 1/3 banana Tea 250(?)

 S:  2 Ritz crackers and a bit of PNB - 77

L:  One slice homemade bread, lettuce, turkey, mayo, carrots 2 oranges 410

Subtotal : 737

S:  Nuts 100

D:  Tuna Stuffed Potato, 200

S:  granola bar 140 

1177 Total Cals Exercise - None - RAIN and got home late from church - tired

Day 16!!  Yesterday turned out fine except I ate all those little cookies!! and I didn't want sugar!  But today is another day and here I go again.  I wound up with accptable amount of calories for the day despite the cookie incident!!!

Today so far haven't eaten - just not hungry.  I'll eat banana and bite of turkey in a minute if nothing else - don't want to be hungry at 3:00 today and that's what happens when I don't eat breakfast!

B:  Banana and Turkey,  Tea 130

L:  Vegetable Soup 150, few blueberries, 5 Grain Crackers, 85 Naturally More Peanutbutter 1 T  85 320 


S:  Panerra Bread portion - 150

D:  Weird stuff - husband had already eaten - I had chicken 45, hummus and Carrots 100, Big Bowel of Corn checks and dash of milk 400 , few nuts 30

Total Cals 1195  Exercise 45 minutes walking with husband and dogs.

UPDATE - OK my first "crisis" - two weeks ago I asked a friend who was going to Paris, France (she's a stewardess) to pick up some of these wonderful little cookies (they call them Macaroons, although they are really merenges with like a cream or jelly filling) and her husband brought them to me this morning!  Luckily I hadn't consumed all the porridge yet so I ate 4!!!  Good news is they only have 44 cals each so 176 cals and I can resist them until tomorrow when I will eat them again!!! So much for good nutrition.  But these things are so wonderful..........

L:  vegetable soup, grapes, Tea  330 

ANOTHER UPDATE!!!  I just went ahead and ate all the little cookies - I couldn't stand it - so

B:  528 Cookies plus a couple of bites of porridge, Tea  600

L:  Per above - 330


D:  Soup and 1/3 turkey sandwich with homemade bread, lettuce a bit of mayo and. of course, turkey 400

Total Cals:  1330 Exercise - 3 miles walking


So I will have to be careful tonight! PLUS I feel LOUSEY with all that sugar in me.  My body really DOES like the healthy stuff!  My mouth, however, loved those darn cookies!  And I don't access to them all the time (thank goodness for that!).

I happened to watch a woman's video (on youtube) awhile ago--it was mostly about her wt trng, but she mentioned Tosca Reno--so I've read a bit about the diet. Sounds intriguing!

LOL, when I treat myself to triscuit crackers I have to really watch myself. I can down a whole box of those and go back for seconds - easy! At least it doesn't look like too much damage :)

Hi Holly, the zucchini dish was exactly like a ragout. The spices were basically salt, pepper, garlic, and a cube of bouillon... my daughter and hubby ate it as a side dish to scalloped potatoes.

My husband is also a car nut. I tell him that he doesn't own a car, the car owns HIM! haha - as a light hearted joke! There is a very famous car show in town, in Geneva, maybe your husband might want to visit it someday. I hear it's fantastic! As for myself, if one wants to bore me to sleep, just take me to a car show, haha. In fact, I don't care for cars one way or another - I'm just grateful for them to take me places I need to go to. A month after my husband bought me the car I presently drive, a friend of mine asked me what kind of a car I had been driving... I honestly did not know the make or type - all I could tell her was the color, haha, how embarrassing!

I'm almost 5'5" tall - we've got similar statistics, don't we... you are doing great and you are an inspiration to me!

I LOVE macarrons, too!!!
