Day # 4  Check out the exercise on Day 3 - I Updated my Entry from yesterday!  I did pretty good.

Today so far:

B:  4 crackers 2 t peanut butter and tea 150

L:  1 C Homemade vege beef soup, 4 crackers and 2 t peanut butter, 4 pita chips and 2 T Hmmus 550 

I have a haircut at noon - so will eat after that - probably vegetable soup.  Work is slow today, but I have stuff to keep me going on the phone this afternoon.  More later....


D:  Chips and Salsa 1/2 Quesedilla with beans and beef and <cheese (husband just HAD to have mexican, but I was fairly "reasonable" about what I ate considering).  Going to count it as 600 - that's a good guess.

S:  Granola Bar 140

Total Cals:  1440  Exercise : 1 hour and 15 minutes walking in the snow with dogs PLUS 30 minutes of shoveling snow - I did skidewalks and porch and husband did driveway!  So I guess it's OK I ate close to the 1500 max calories I've tried to plan for.  YAY!

Hello again,work is about 25 mins away seems longer walking through the ice.I have'nt dared to drive although the roads are not as bad,but they are running out of grit.I'm going to try and take Alfie tomorrow,hubby has been just taking him around the block as he hates being on the lead and pulls like mad and i will defenately slip on me bum!!Hubby does'nt use a lead but he is very good for him more strict i guess.Alfie absolutely loves the snow,you can here him barking up the street cos he wants hubby to throw snowballs arrrhhh.Right i'm off for a soak in the bath,hope you don't get too snowed in,take care Jules

Hiya Holls hope you got out with your dogs.The cold got to my legs before when i went out,i came home and they where red raw and are still burning now.Feel better for going though and he loves it,a little pain when he keepd loosing his ball and can't be bothered looking for it as he prefers to sniff everything in sight Be good,and have a good weekend,Jules

Day 3 - updated my day yesterday on yesterday's entry - check it out!!!!  I did well!!!

Today so far:

B:  Chex Cereal, t sugar dash of milk, coffee 230

Going out for lunch with a freind - will have to pace myself!  I'll report later.    

L:  At a restaurant where they have unlimited homemade rolls with butter and peanuts I ate NONE of those.  I had grilled Salmon and a house salad with 1T Ranch dressing - ordered rice pilaf, but only ate 2 bites of that so about 480 cals for lunch!!  Could have been worse.  Sub Total for so far today = 710.  That leaves me at about 1/2 the allowed calories so I'm OK with that!  Going to try and walk at least 30 minutes tonight with the dogs, again.

S:  Orange juice 60

D:  Vegetable beef soup, tuna stuffed potatoes 470

S:  Cereal like at breakfast 155

1395 Calories  and 55 minutes of FAST walking in the COLD with husband and dogs!  YAY for me!

Well, New day number 2 (starting over due to set back of the flu) I did weight myself and my weight showing on the graph below is fairly accurate - with clothes.  - Could be worse, will be better soon!!

Updated my entry yesterday.  1235 total cals, but no exercise due to still being ill.

Today so far:

B:  Oatmeal with cinnamon, splenda and almonds, tea  200

L:  Vegetable beef soup, 2 bowls!  450


S:  1/2 Spec K Bar 50

D:  Tuna stuffed Potato and salad YUM! 400

S:  Homemade ww bread and cheese spread 250

1350 Total Cals and 40 Minutes FAST walking in the COLD with Husband and Doggies!  YAY

Have a special K bar for a snack.  I am remembering what I did when I was eating right.  I usually would have something sweet, but fairly nutritious for a snack to satisfy the sweet tooth.  I'll get the hang of this again......


Have vegetable soup for lunch, dinner, don't know yet, but trying to plan more so I don't get "caught" having to make spontaneous choice at this point....

I haven't abandoned the group - I've had flu.  Feeling some bettter.  Needless to say no exercise, but not much appetite, either.  Back at work today........more later.  

ALSO - thanks to everyone who has been checking in with me.  GREENGIRL - thanks for tip on the Val McDermid books.  I found Killing the Shadows for 1/2 price and LOVE it so far - much better than the other author I mentioned.  She's a very skilled writer indeed!

**I want to tell everyone about a great product that will keep you safe from falls on slick ice this winter.  Last year I fell walking from car to office building and hit my head (no there were no long-lasting results despite rumors to the contrary!!!LOL) I started using Yak Tracks on my shoes they are rubbery forms with metal spring things on the bottom that just slip over your shoes - almost any kind except skinny heels - and they dig into the ice and keep you from falling.  Those of you in really cold climes probably have something like this already, but here in KY we don't get alot of snow - we get ice.  You can get them on the internet an many sites.  If you want to know where I got them for around $18 and free shipping ask me. I got husband, daughter all the parents one for Christmas this year.  **I don't get any money from this I just want everyone to stay safe on the ice!**

Here I go (or here I come??) again.  Before it is any later than it already is I want to get back to where I was 2 years ago - eating right exercising regularly.  I have only gained back some of the weight - not all of it (thank goodness) that I lost before and I am finally feeling inspired enough to get off the merry-go-round of eating again.  I am not sure why I'm either on or off totally on my eating and exercise habits.  I know how to eat right and I actually like to exercise.  The bike accident and resulting back injury really set me back before the holidays, but I can get going starting today.  Menu so far today -

B:  Coffee with creamer  150

L:  Marie Callender's Penne Chicken Carbonara orange 390 + 70 = 460 

S:  orange  = 70

D:  Laughing Cow Cheese X 2 + 8 Ritz Crackers, small serving of spaghetti and meatballs (very small!) 3 small cookies -didn't quite make it without the sugar, but it's a big cutback from everyday the last three weeks - small steps, I guess = 565

S:  Small glass 1% milk 50

Total Calories = 1295 Cals  Exercise = 0 - Read the last of my new book - Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell.  It was good, but no real clues along the way - just a good story line in the end that wrapped it up.  I enjoyed it anyway.  Tonight I'll walk or Eliptical Trainer and sweat a little bit.

You have half of the battle won, if you like to exercise. Wish I could, but my joints and knees ache so bad, due to arthritis & obesity. I actually did 30 minutes on the eliptical trainer last night - even though I didn't want to I did it anyway!  I ate "reasonably" yetsreday, and so far today, too.  It's good to have positive things to report!

Well, I have not done well at all the last two days.  I am going to just take a big deep breath and start over.  I need to get a couple of good days behind me and I know I can get back on track.  I have walked or exercised in other ways, though!

UPDATE  I realized what I am not doing that is probably why I am overeating most days!  I am not making sure that I have healthy, good foods around me - even at home I'm out of bananas and cereal and string cheese and other things to snack on and eat that will keep me within my range.  Not that there is all that bad of stuff around, but because there aren't healthy choices I am foraging and eating and eating without actually being satisfied.  Planning, planning, planning.  That is what I must do.  GEEZ!  I am going to the grocery and stock up on fruit and vegetables and healthy stuff I love......

Didn't do too bad over the week end, but yesterday and today (so far) sheeish!  Oh well, this is a new HOUR!!  I can do better for the rest of the day.

Thanksgiving is coming and we all better be getting our strategioes ready.  What's your's going to be?  I think I will eat very lightly the couple of days prior and then eat  a little of only the things I really, really like that isn't available except on holidays for example on Thanksgiving and then eat very lightly the day or two after.  Thats one idea.

Well, so much for tracking my menus.......But yesterday - over all was a good day.  I didn't over eat.  But didn't exercise either.  We went to watch daughter dance.  She and partner were judges of a campus Ballroom contest sponsored by the Greeks for St. Jude's Research Hospital.  They judged the contestants along with one of the star basketball players - Patrick Patterson (U of KY) as the celebrity judge.  At the end daughter and partner danced a demonstration dance as the "professionals" of the event.  We had a good time watching all the students hoop and holler for their favorite contestants.
