Donkey on 06/03/2021:
If your ankle still feels a little tender, a bike ride might serve you better, especially if you hope to walk this weekend. Just a friendly observation & suggestion. On the other hand, being out in the fresh air, after your day/commute/dinner might be what you need too.

That's a great idea to do leg exercises (or any, for that matter) at work! I was reading some lady's post how she did chair dips at her workplace breakroom - great idea!

horn_of_plenty on 06/03/2021:
it wasn't possible today to do the leg exercises due to too many executives in the trailer. i will try for another day...but seems it's not really possible. maybe when i get a cubicle i can...they will put up walls around me.

yes, smart to rest and be careful of my ankle.

Donkey on 06/03/2021:
PS I found statistics to be much easier, conceptually, than accounting. I'm not sure why you're re-evaluating taking statistics. I mean, if you don't need it, or it's too expensive, then I understand that. But don't let your feelings about accounting stop you from doing what you need to do to accomplish your longer-term goals.

horn_of_plenty on 06/03/2021:
i do not want to take it if it's not needed for me for my work or degrees is the reason. i'm not worried to pass, it's just a process to take a course with little study time at work...

...i have less free time for studying now that i'm driving i cannot obviously study at the same time.

i used to have a good 45 min daily that could be used studying, at least. now, it needs to be fit in if i want to - and after work, i can tell you, during the week after work, i am not bound to study...i just cannot.

horn_of_plenty on 06/03/2021:
it's about if i need it...i may just do some other class...but i may stop with the classes if i cannot fit them in like i thought i would. i had thought i'd have study time, based on my commuting etc, now i have no study time during commuting and i can't bother stressing myself weeknights after work studying right now. it's too stressful, makes me overeat, and not necessary to stress myself on weeknights when i'm the one choosing if i take classes or not - nothing is "mandatory" for work, that's for sure...i just need to be able to relax enough...not make myself sick trying to fit things in.

Donkey on 06/03/2021:
^ Absolutely! You do need time to rest and relax. I can certainly appreciate how difficult it is with a full-time job (especially now that it's new, but even when it's not new any more), the commute, and life in general.

That really sucks about having a longer commute tonight. DANG...

Horn_of_plenty on 06/04/2021:
it's shorter when i take the bridges, i went the wrong way ha!

thanks j donk for your support. and tips. keep them coming never not say something, it doesn't offend.

this commute / hours will take some getting used to.....; i think i'm going to have to do some cardio or something before work as by 5pm i'm still not exactly home and it leaves me no time to eat/relax well after work....gotta think about this.

i'm going to pay tolls both ways to cut my commute down by at least half....no more wasting time driving!!!!

CATCH UP WITH YOU ALL SOON...not on computer much to browse web these few days....

 Wed, June 2nd

no more long routes, will be paying $13 a day for two tolls to cut my commute time down...will take the bridges with tolls. why drive longer and waste time anytime just to stress. parking is free here so i save on that. and i'll save on gas...plus, who needs to sit for longer in a car if they don't have to? time savings is worth the price to me!

Donkey on 06/02/2021:
So glad your first day is over! Were people nice to you?

How long would your commute be if you took public transportation? It's worth paying the tolls to cut down or ease your drive. I've been in that situation.

Ooo, watch that ankle! I hope your food day goes better too. What happened yesterday? Didn't bring enough food from home? That happens.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/02/2021:
my portable thermostat is showing that it's warmer in this trailer than the other office. but i am just overall cold. new boss has said they will put up cubicle walls around me, tall ones. if so, i will use my fan on and off, or, perhaps the walls will help me by making it so the air flow is less around me.

everyone is nice so far. they do not want to make problems or make problems when it isn't a necessary thing to do. they do not have the same personalities, at all, at the other office workers. they are also, on average, 5-10 years younger overall...they think in a more mature and youthful way, energized, etc. open-minded and smarter. yes, i said smarter. and not stuck in old ways.approx 1/3 of new coworkers also come from the old company i used to work for. it's not a coincidence. it's something that happened a few years ago, lots of change, when many from my old company joined my new company.

i waited too long to have lunhc yesterday and didn't plan good breakfasts. too many snacks and just too many carbs before too late of a lunch. i'm getting used to getting up earlier....increases my appetite a little bit.

thanks for asking. it's been a decent couple days.

yeah, i'm paying for the tolls beause it's a quality of life factor. i just can't make my commute longer than it has to be....it's upsetting to sit in traffic, more traffic, when i know there's a better way. so, i am taking that better way.

innerpeace on 06/02/2021:
Wow...that's a lot of tolls. I wouldn't like to spend money to go to work, but that's like DH spends money so he can shop at Sam's...please pay money so you can spend more money. That is just a big NO for me.

That would certainly be something I would have to work out with bills and other bills to decide if I wanted to put that $13 x 20 = $280 a month...do you get reimbursed any?

I hope you like your new office mates and people were helpful.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/02/2021:
i don't like to spend it...and i didn't for ...haha, 1.5 days!

but i'm not used to driving and the commute was just too long. also, i live "sorta" close in Queens and i was driving for so long it didn't feel close at all anymore.

With the free bridge, my commute in the AM is just over an hour. Coming home it's approx 1.5hrs at least.

With the toll bridge, it's 40-45 minutes in the AM; and it's only about an hour or so, a hair more, coming home.

i save around an hour, everyday.

i hate the amount and how i'm losing that money, but, i care about my lifestyle and i do not want to sit in my car an extra hour everyday...

office mates are nice. one likes to talk a lot, i feel badly because i do not work with him; and shouldn't talk to him too much :(

he loves to chat. i feel bad that i won't be able to engage...and i have to work with the other man in his office...so it's hard.

Jacky82020 on 06/02/2021:
Time is money. I’d take the tolls too.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/02/2021:
that's how i thought about it. i was like, no way am i going to punish myself and waste my time doing something i don't like!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/02/2021:
i am annoyed that it's my money wasted, but, it's worth it for peace of mind knowing i took the shortest way home.

Just a thought but what would you say to taking Wednesdays off, to break up the work week?

I love those cooked chickens from the supermarket. You can make some great bone broth with the carcass when you're done getting the rest of the meat off.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/31/2021:
ohhh great idea on bone broth...

also, GREAT idea to break up week and take a couple wednesdays off from work to study at home! i like that.

where'd you get that idea about Wednesdays? i had never thought of it...

well, i think that would be a great idea for me in July or when i take next course, in the fall. thank you!

i must be careful not to take too many weird days off when starting the job...like for a month...but starting summer it's a good idea.

i could also take off a Wed / thurs lol...one time in summer...for less traffic to the beach with friend, study the next day! haha

great thoughts.

Jacky82020 on 06/01/2021:
You have a new job? Or the same job in a different location?

horn_of_plenty on 06/01/2021:
the second one. same company. but different job and location. no more ex boss (boss i had the other 5 months prior to today)

happy-1 on 06/01/2021:
You can stick your phone in a cereal bowl to amplify the sound till you get a speaker.

horn_of_plenty on 06/01/2021:

queens farm is canceled bc of rain, fine by me, just want to stay home, relax, take more notes, eat a little better than i did Saturday. it will rain most of the day.

10:30 phone call - with parisian friend (she lives in Paris)., will hop on my indoor stationary bike during the call, to get in some movement as i didn't do any exercise or movement yesterday. It's important i get some movement in; and not just lay on my couch all weekend.

I figure i can do the upper body routine later, or, even tomorrow (sorta like taking a week off / some rest this weekend).

before the call, but, i think i will continue to make a dent in my note-taking for accounting bc i do better when i do it in more concrete, shorter, time-frames...with a definite end point. after the phone call, i can have lunch or a snack, then do my exercises, i think. :)

i gave some thought to how my routine will change with the new location of the office i will now report to on Tuesday to start. I will no longer be walking to & from busses (that used to add up to over a half mile just to and from my bus without trying).  i used to then add in a mile of walking without trying whenever i wanted to, on the way home from work. then, i was walking up and down the stairs in the subways. and then also walking at lunch (will see if this is still possible at new job...).

it will be 100% change in activity levels. I will now have to add in everything, all physical activity, on my time. I will prob end up using the cardio equipment in my apt now. I have the stationary bike as well as the stepper. I have a feeling i will use them in the AM. and I also feel that i will not do any more strength workouts in the AM, will prob push them to after work...I have to give it more thought, but, my commute and lifestyle need many changes made moving forward.

Also, as i take these pre-reqs, which take a long time for me to learn...i have to give MORE THOUGHT again to if i really want to get the 4 course graduate cert from SUNY for Financial Management and Analysis. Now that i've been bumped out of the main office, i think that just taking these two math pre-reqs will be enough, not to pursue the SUNY 4 course cert as it's not going to be useful (and the fact that it's $8,000.-).

Instead, i may just pursue the degree cert thru CUNY, which was in Public Administration, like I originally wanted to do...and would help me specifically for the courts..I won't have to make a decision for like a year, as I have 3 total classes to take before I start any certificate program at all. Also, if i pursue the one thru CUNY, it's cheaper than the Financial Cert thru SUNY because Cuny is the city universities of NY and SUNY is the state universities and they are slightly more expensive.

Monday, May 31st - Memorial Day Holiday !

maybe visit parents for

I should do a quick run to the supermarket for a few things, including kombucha, from the easier to park at shopping center. Also bread/wraps, a rotisserie or other ready-cooked meal, carrots for pigs, 2 peppers, kiwi for me as a change of pace, cheese,..and my freezer is quite full, so i should skip that isle for now...

a walk in AM ? will be cold, 50F, but i'll wear a winter coat. i'd rather go out early and be at peace by myself instead of later when everyone is out..

do upper weights

I am happy on Monday to be home, some more studying.

Donkey on 05/30/2021:
Very thoughtful entry! Yes, you are right - your activity level will most likely change, especially if you will be driving now. It's good that you have your equipment at home to fall back on. Even a 5 minute ride on the bike can help work out any potential kinks in your back, legs, maybe even core - not only from the change in activity, but also that which may be a result of the stress of starting in a new office!

This is one reason why I am grateful for the exercise equipment that I have at home, and I think you'll find it very handy, too, as I'm sure you already have, in other circumstances.

I can appreciate the thought that you've put into your plan for your future education. The nice thing is that you DO have this time, as you plod through the prerequisite classes, to come to a "final" decision. (Remind me again - is the public administration a degree or a certificate?) I kind of have to agree with the PA course, since working for the courts is truly what you want to do, and the PA path will be more in line with that job, rather than the job you have now.

It's nice that you have this weekend to regroup, rest, and study. I might say even better than having the farm activity (that has been canceled), although sometimes it's nice to be busy, to keep anxiety levels down. I hope you are not feeling too anxious about this "fresh start" on Tuesday. It really is a good thing, to be out of that toxic environment, and with new people that you can build positive working relationships with.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/30/2021:
i will have to delve, again, into my choices regarding certs and degrees. i think the MPA was only the degree...

and now i see there's a 1 course shorter cert with CUNY for a Certificate in Business Management or something. a 3 course. not as specific or good as SUNY, but, i can use it to propel me into a full CUNY program for business management later...

yeah, i do not think there's a shorter courseload for MPA...i have to see...that's a great question.

either way, i think i'm going to drop the SUNY program to replace with CUNY..

Horn_of_plenty on 05/30/2021:
but i'm not positive on that...as perhaps i'll see if the SUNY program can help me complete the CUNY program! haha...there's options.

mostly, i should look into options about a shorter Public Administration cert; because to answer your question, i don't think there is one...let me check SUNY.

Donkey on 05/30/2021:
I will comment on yesterday's entry as well, shortly.

Enjoy your nice long weekend......I wish we were getting some rain....but instead we got a frost warning!

Horn_of_plenty on 05/29/2021:
OH MY! yes, temps are seasonally low now! instead of high! a week ago, it was like 90F! now it's 48F, also quite chilly for practically JUNE!

Horn_of_plenty on 05/29/2021:
i do look forward to enjoying the slower pace of this weekend, Bear :)

Donkey on 05/30/2021:
It has been quite chilly this past week here, but we're warming up to moderate temperatures for this week. I'm sure soon enough we'll be back to the blazin' hot and humid we had 2 weeks ago -- that was kind of awful.

Your meatball dinner sounds really delicious! Sorry that your other food plans didn't work out, but I don't blame you. Nobody likes a mushy chicken nugget. Some of those are just vile. I don't like the Tyson ones either.

horn_of_plenty on 05/30/2021:
It’s amazing the difference in nugget qualities out there!

Perhaps it’s a fries / McDonald’s nuggets night tonight .... or soon !

I know I am due to comment on your entries abs will get caught up later today :)

As of yesterday 2pm when my boss pushed a rolling chair near me and my eyes popped out of my head thinking why does he even want to sit next to me - he told me i was being transfered to a different job site and I would no longer be doing any of the work relating to working with him anymore and to just leave it here. He didn't ask me to show him my work or go over anything - which I did think was odd.  Well, that's why the last few weeks he's ignored me - he's been doing some of the work himself and keeping some information from me.  Yesterday morning he acted pleasant more than usual - and i see it's because he was glad to get what he wanted and have me out of the office and no longer working with him.  He may end up doing the work i was doing himself; or the company may be having more changes made. I do know that someone else is being hired with a ton of expertise in project management - more than almost every PM / assistant project manager here - so that person may become more involved and assume my role in addition to his. IDK. all i do know is my boss was an @**h*le to me leading up to this move and never did have my back. I also know i found a lot of his own errors and when he wanted me to be so perfect at times - and he picked on some little things - he made a thousand mistakes just the same. I know i did a good job. Things are much more organized than when i came here, January 4th, 2021.

It hurts to be professionally rejected by anyone, even when I can say i did way more right than wrong at this job and that I learned the minimal things there were to learn. So, what were these past 5 months? An experience. A light experience where I learned more about bullying and i was reminded how I need to keep my own mouth closed most of the time. How even when people say things, not to respond back and just let their words evaporate into the air rather than respond and then they don't like my response. I learned very little in terms of the work / technical things. But I also learned everything I could have learned and showed myself how I could learn a new job, work in a new company, and get the work done. It's not all a loss, but the past 5 months are definitely in general a negative experience. I can learn from it, yes, but i'm glad to put this workplace being me.

I will be working with everyone who i do not know by face, only name right now - except the one woman who i took over for - she was moved there, too. it will be a little akward - there's already 2 admins there....so, like i was saying, i need to be quiet and just listen and otherwise say nothing.

It seems I should drive to new loacation job because it will cut down the commute by over a half hour...the bad thing is that I lose all my reading and studying time on the train...but with a rather short commute by driving, i should take it that way...it could actually be under an hour driving. but by public transportation, it's over 1.5 hours. I'll lose a lot of exercise....but i guess then i can do it at home, after work...

lol - and as far as any raises, that ain't happening in my future at this company, ever.

Donkey on 05/28/2021:
Remember that when you start your new position not to say anything negative about your old boss - at least not for a while.

Regarding your new commute, I would recommend keeping an open mind. At my last job, I changed my commute 3 times, finally ending up with public transportation. I just didn't want the stress of a morning drive right before starting an even more stressful workday. Public transportation allowed for a nap and a nice walk.

horn_of_plenty on 05/28/2021:
thank you for the reminder, it is hard for me to stop the negative talk, younger coworker when nobody was around couldn't believe i was leaving and not continuing my job...i was surprised my boss didn't tell him yesterday after i left.

i said to him how my boss refused working with me for like the past three weeks, shouldn't have said it, yes, and he was like wow, i had no idea...i don't think he'll say anything, will not even remind him to keep it quiet as i see already he doesn't chat, at all, with my "ex-boss."

again, thank you for the reminder, it's best you said it to me for sure because i can always use a repeated suggestion that is helpful, yes.

i think i'll be driving as it's much shorter in the morning to drive. the other option is: 1 bus, swithing to train, switch to train 2, swtich to train 3. too much, i've realized. and if any train or bus is delayed, it is too easy for it not to be reliable.

so, i'll drive.

glad my car is decent. it's around 110k miles. i think my car could last till 200k. it's a 2009.

innerpeace on 05/28/2021:
I would hate not having some kind of value at my job. I agree, though you didn't learn much and particularly like your boss, I wouldn't talk negatively about him.

Maybe you will like this place better - is it still part of the same company? I hope you can figure out your commute and what works best for this job. Have a great weekend.

horn_of_plenty on 05/28/2021:
yes, it's a field site for a project on the Wastewater treatment plant and also a couple other projects too, that i do not know too much about yet.

Monday, June 28th: Business Law, last Adv Paralegal Course Begins, 6 weeks in length, I might need to put this off if i don't finish the accounting course in time to start this one.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 05/26/2021:
I noticed that you are going to prolong (?) the Accounting class. That may be a wise decision, especially since you will want to enjoy some of the summer weather with your volunteering opportunities AND just enjoying the outdoors more in general.

I'm a little confused - did you get your tablet? Have you found it to be helpful (presuming you've received it)? I'm thinking of getting a tablet in the next 6 months or so.

Get those chest flyes in tonight! LOL, only if you have the motivation to do so. Sometimes I just poop out at the end of the day...

horn_of_plenty on 05/27/2021:
I def want to finish the Accounting class, even if it takes longer yes, before the Business Law class i'm taking as my last Paralegal advanced program. may need to put off the paralegal if i don't finish accounting in a month from now...

I will try to study the accounting more this long weekend, as there's around 15 chapters, and i'm only finishing Chapter 2. will try to make progress today, if my boss would stay out of his office a little - which he does - he constantly leaves to go next door to speak with the owner...and nobody else is sitting in back of me today - a prime day to study, as long as boss leaves his office...we'll see!

no, didn't get the tablet, it was an email error. I should get it tomorrow.

Once i get it, i'll use it primarily on days when it's extremely quiet at work, and boss isn't here, so my constant use of internet isn't recorded.

i ended up doing the chest flies, but waited all night and did 3 sets in a period of like an hour - terrible waste of time to take that long! i rested for like 15min between sets, LOL. finishing around 9:45pm.

you are right - i should enjoy summer, but, i also enjoy learning when i'm not under pressure and it seems i can fit in both studying and volunteering on/off throughout. (it means i will not see friends every weekend or skip volunteering when i want to see a friend!)

Work is now SO MUCH EASIER, so, i should try to get my studying in, see what i can do, as i'll be studying now for 2 years straight, on and off.

Love my iPads. Have three, but ordered a Samsung Galaxy last month to see what others devices are like. Prefer the iPad, but possibly because it’s what I’m used to.

horn_of_plenty on 05/27/2021:
when you try the new samsung, report back to us what you think. what's the third brand you have?

horn_of_plenty on 05/27/2021:
2 ipads?

Jacky82020 on 05/27/2021:
The Gen 5 was slowing down, so I bought a Gen 7. Also have a larger screen one that I find difficult to hold for reading. Using the Gen 5 for reading and keep the Gen 7 open for the stock market streams,

I won’t get around to using the Samsung until one of the iPads croaks for good. Saw a good buy at Prime and got it. Played with it for a few weeks.

It’s funny in that it composes 3 responses to emails. Heard some cells do it, but new to me. I kept sending myself goofy ones from my various email accounts to see the responses. Some were hilarious. For some, they don’t have any canned replies. Like when I said I killed my husband and buried him in the yard. Matt told me to quit before the SWAT team breaks down the door.

i come into work the past two days with the AC just blowing straight down on me (i sit below a large AC unit that cools the entire large room), yesterday door wide open. makes me really angry as i do not need strong cold breezes the minute i sit down to my desk. also, my boss doesn't delegate anything...he just does his work and anything i cannot do for some reason bc i need something from him - he ignores! there's things from November and December that he's just ignoring. impossible! Donkey on 05/25/2021:
I don't envy your desk position at work. Could you wear a hat? Seriously, I keep a heavy late-autumn fleece jacket at work to wear when I'm feeling too chilled from the AC.

My morning was quite rushed too, and had to really squeeze in 2 weight exercises (for the upper back). There's just not enough time to do the things I really want to do.

horn_of_plenty on 05/25/2021:
yes, i brought in a hat and did wear it yesterday :) i said to myself, let me just blast my heat...and i am wearing layers :) but yes, i have a hat that i wear if all else fails.

boss walked away, so i add two degrees to the room temp increasing it ;)

yeah, sometimes the time catches us off-guard! :)

Jacky82020 on 05/25/2021:
Measles! What kind? Didn’t know adults did that. Understand some physicians and vets deceive about how long vaccines last to bring in the bucks. Some confer lifelong immunity, but they ain’t telling ya.

horn_of_plenty on 05/25/2021:
yeah, every 10 years they give it to adults...

it is free for me, just an office visit. perhaps $15 copay as my copays are less for union doctors at the hall...maybe free bc it's just for the shot 2nd dose - they do it in 2 doses, 2 months apart. a 10-yr thing like i was saying.

you could be right, idk, not like the measles is widespread here. but, if i travel, maybe good to have! ha! i get you completely.

BTW - LOVING my library app. sometimes there's glitches, it freezes or takes long to load a book, but, FREE!

Jacky82020 on 05/25/2021:
Glad you like the library app. Never have any problems with it on this here ipad Works the same as buying a book from Amazon. Maybe you can request technical help. They were always quick to assist

horn_of_plenty on 05/25/2021:
they list the errors and why on their app...they know there's bugs.! ha! this is the Queens one.

Jacky82020 on 05/25/2021:
Only do Brooklyn!

horn_of_plenty on 05/25/2021:
that's the only one i do not do! ha ha ha

i think the NYPL includes staten island and bronx, but i could be wrong!

LOL.

reason i do not do brooklyn is i'd do it only if i worked there...and i've got the Manhattan and Queens, SO THERE! <3

Jacky82020 on 05/25/2021:
All my downloads are fast & flawless So there. LOL

horn_of_plenty on 05/25/2021:
yeah seems so!!! haha

Jacky82020 on 05/25/2021:
At least yours was free I have to pay $50 a year, nothing compared to what I used to pay. Kindle Unlimited sucked for me. Too much fiction and ppl uploading their poorly written fictitious memoirs

horn_of_plenty on 05/25/2021:
and for some reason, when i had kindle unlimited, i still had to pay for certain books...did that happen to you?

Jacky82020 on 05/25/2021:
No, it was a flat $9.99 a month, maybe less when purchased by the year. Very limited nonfiction selection. No new stuff. Kindle Unlimited led to my being permanently banned from doing Amazon reviews. Used to trash the liars on their fake memoirs. But when Amazon banned me , they said it was because I was being paid. LOL. What a joke! They removed hundreds of reviews left over several years. Impossible to appeal. I tried. Finally they said: We discussed you with Jeff Bezos and he agrees you have violated community standards. LOLOLOL

Horn_of_plenty on 05/25/2021:
LOL, at least you were siscussed with JB! :)

Jacky82020 on 05/25/2021:
Right. That was hilarious!

Horn_of_plenty on 05/25/2021:
*discussed!
