up a little late reading after phone call but I'll be ok ;) ....

will be reading my book"One Less Problem Without You," by Beth Harbison, at home, quiet day is the plan...put my feet up :)...ahhh, starting after i get most things done, below, shouldn't be that hard to get up to my book :)...read some, yeah.

It's laundry day :)...thankfully, DONE!

prep raw veggies today- chopped romaine, green pepper, celery - to eat salad with my meals this week :);...chopped a bit to last a few days; can chop more lettuce later this week (dont want it to go bad by chopping / washing it all now..) DONE!!!

no weights for the rest of the weekend since i did them last night :) - they will be tomorrow. :)

cardio rest and/or stationary indoor bike riding possibly while on

phone later today (Christine)

Call Dox - make reservation sometime early this week for a 40th bday for myself i have planned for early saturday evening this coming saturday the 17th.

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Jacky82020 on 09/11/2022:
I’ve been buying Romaine lettuce every week for the last month to make snail traps for 2 of the aquariums. Bad problem with rapidly breeding ugly pest snails that generally are introduced by eggs on live tank plants, the major reason why I use silk plants now. I drop in a few leaves of lettuce, weighted down by pebbles. The snails love it & dozens can be found clinging to it & then I discard them & replace the lettuce. Gross! I’ll post a pic sometime.

horn_of_plenty on 09/11/2022:
yeah, i gotta see that! glad you found a natural solution to the pests. :) the romaine i have been buying are huge stalks. lasts for several salads :) also, they usually last well in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.

Jacky82020 on 09/11/2022:
Mine are getting limp after a week. Yeah, Walmart sells them in big bunches of 1, 2 or 3. I think some are called Romaine hearts. Since the tanks are heated I’m afraid the limp lettuce will fall apart and make a mess.

horn_of_plenty on 09/11/2022:
i have seen the bags of 2 or 3 romaine hearts packed together.

at my supermarket lately, the romaine is huge...one of them equals like a whole bag almost of the 2-3 hearts size!

after i use the outer leaves, i am able to but the rest away and just keep using from the outside and the romaine will last a pretty long time, luckily.

i hear you on the limp stuff. i wonder if you can use cabbage? that stuff lasts forever and has thick leaves...

Jacky82020 on 09/11/2022:
Sounds like you’re getting better produce than I am! It would be interesting to try cabbage. Thanks, I’ll do it. And stir fry the rest if it displeases the nasty snails. I’ve heard of people using other lettuces, but am anxious to try cabbage. Aldi’s seems to have a big produce dept, but Walmart is much bigger & closer. Plus they have decent hardware, paint and automotive depts. and I can even buy my fruit of the loom underwear. LOL

horn_of_plenty on 09/11/2022:
Hahahaha I love cotton fruit of the loom underwear too! Must be bikini cut - well, that’s my favorite type

SomeFineDay on 09/11/2022:
Your breakfast almost sounds like a great trail mix! You need to coach the women who do our after worship Sunday breakfasts. Evertything had too many calories and salt. So many fat little sausages! My husband ate tgem like I didnt cooked for a week.

horn_of_plenty on 09/11/2022:
hahaha....i know many men who with big appetites like the ones i work with, that's why i'm laughing!

yes, breakfast was like a trail mix! all heated up in the microwave with the oats. it packs a satisfying punch bc it has the carbs and fat and even a small amount of protein...i find that i do enjoy carbs in the morning, they do get me going along with coffee. :)

some people like eggs/bacon/toast....but it all adds up in calories faster unless you just have an egg or two and toast....and small bit of bacon....it's so easy to overdo it!

with your worship sunday, a good side could be sliced tomatoes...that people can take with the breakfast...i have seen that...or sliced tomatoes / cucumbers....if someone or a few people have it in them to prepare for the group! :) i have seen platters with cucumbers/tomatoes at breakfasts i have been to for organizations / events.

Have a good time at the parade! Oh I hope your ankles & legs hold up for it. Walking in a parade is harder than one might think!

Happy belated birthday!

horn_of_plenty on 09/10/2022:
bc my legs are doing a LOT better than usual and i hadn't overused them lately....the parade was MUCH easier than in the past! plus, we got there later so not much standing beforehand, before marching!

the walk was around 1mi and my legs held up better today than in the past.

was good!

thanks for the bday wishes! :)

Jacky82020 on 09/10/2022:
Yummy breakfast!

horn_of_plenty on 09/10/2022:

(counting calories/walking/weights/strength)
Weight: 108.0

Hi! I turned 40 this am! (actually 2pm, my birth hour! haha) Happy bday to me!

BUSY workday, thankfully!

Breakfast / snacks: banana and coffee 150; bread with pb 200, again bread with pb 200

Noon Lunch: pumpkin pie bday i think from coworkers AND some of pizza square type with truffle oil, mushrooms, and cheese - i think it was a white sauce or ricotta? / no tomato sauce: 700

.....got out early from work around 2:50p. boss said i could for my bday ;) was good, there was traffic unexpectedly...first week of school...so it took around 1hr, 10 min to get home...not terrible...i was on phone the whole time trying to plan tomorrow and was very stressed / hungry in the car with nothing to eat...sugar lows after a not that great (high carb) lunch.

i usually am not into lunches that don't have veggies, but i just ate what was brought / bought and left my soup in fridge...wasn't in the mood to make a scene and figured i could just eat some of the goodies...is fine, but hungrier in afternoon and more of a sugar low on way home.  i may have overestimated lunch, but who knows...

4:15p snacks back at home: tbd? - a bit much at home, overly hungry, no snacks in car; shakey....overate the whole small bag of 3x servings gummies. is ok. 300, kombucha too. 50.

(i was too hungry to stop at supermarket for fruit - that i was craving / also had to pee, but really would have liked fruit back at home). i have no more fruit besides a banana which i didn't want to have today after work...i'll pick up some fruit tomorrow :)

Dinner: tbd not sure...want to go to bed early tonight...soup i think - my lunch - squash nice; up to 2 wantons in it with beef small amount filling

....now it's almost 7:30p...because i got out early, i'm trying to start and do a workout - so i can skip out on strength workouts the rest of the weekend...

7:30p snacking during workout: chocolates 120, part of a low cal spiked drink 80. 200

1800......

yes, did a full body strength workout and YES....i kinda dragged it out....but i will not do another strength workout for the whole weekend which i'm REALLY happy about. frees up my time and is more relaxing without it....i can finally bake the water pie....

i walked 10 minutes in AM after parking, nice.

PM- not sure but playing it easy - I might do a strength workout (if i do, i will not do it again until MONDAY...that's the good part of this)

- have to be up tomorrow for Labor Day Parade, taking the 9am bus to the city with friends in the same union / living by me.

I'll be thankful when i'm putting my feet up, SUNDAY....lots of time commitments until then :)

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

horn_of_plenty on 09/09/2022:
butternut squash pie (like pumpkin pie!?) so good!

ummmm..........i don't know the question, but the answer i just heard to the Jeopardy question tonight is:

"What is Soybean?" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

horn_of_plenty on 09/09/2022:
it was the correct answer.

horn_of_plenty on 09/09/2022:
lol and an asian person guessed it (and probably eats a lot of soy!)

Weight: 108.0

Drove in...walked 5 min as that was the time i had this AM after parking at work.

i will definitely also drive in tomorrow which also happens to be my 40th bday!

Happy Thursday! Been eating a bit more this week, just happened that way. Hungrier in evenings and taking more than what i need like last night with the wantons. is OK.

Glad i got my weights/strength in yesterday.

7:30a Breakfast: whole grain bread 100, pb 150, also banana and coffee 150. 400..

9:45-10a snacking: tbd - 1 egg wrap 50, roasted chickpeas spicy 150, half biscotti 50..250, candy 50

12:45p Lunch: healthy microwavable vegetarian meal...falafel i think (chick pea balls - not deep fried, healthy, maybe even just baked...) yeah, they were baked. really nice. and a small side salad with light creamy dressing. total 550.

4:15p light meal/ Snacks: clementine 50, bbq shi****o not spicy peppers 150, ethiopian bread called injiri 150

7p Dinner: tbd; 2 plums 100, tastes of collard greens 100, kombucha 50....

1850

After work: pick up my bday cake (choosing supermarket, not bakery, saving cash) & maybe candle #s 4,0 (i wanted to do it myself and was my request to coworkers, that's why, that i do it)

After work: call Brad with his twin girls; and plan what express bus we are taking into city for Saturday's Labor Day Parade; then call Neil to tell him the plan as he's coming too; then call Jen to see if she's up for it and tell her where to meet me

below is a photo of the courts data that i've been waiting for a list of new dates/tests...sharing for the folks here that know that i'm always looking at the NYS courts site to see listings of new tests. there are two listings, and this one is the one in chart form...showing lots of expired dates...just waiting for an update and for many of the items on the chart below to be removed / changed - there is only one item that is actually still valid...the middle item...the rest is all old information. i'm waiting to see if they list anything for october/november upcoming. this is only part of what i look at on the site; as there's multiple places for updated info. but this chart is the one that stands out as getting old and needing changes.

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/08/2022:
Tomorrow is the big B-Day day, right? Tell me all about the cake you chose for yourself! (lol - not really diet related, is it?)

You and I have been on this diet ride long enough to know that some days/weeks are just higher calorie episodes but it evens out with lower calorie days. As you are in maintenance, it's just a matter of balancing out. You're always amazing to me how you manage your calories while also being able to be a Foodie too.

horn_of_plenty on 09/08/2022:
i'll try to get a photo of the cake...i am going to get it at supermarket this time....i do not want to pay a bakery ...and want the easiest location to pick it up after work... :)

you are right about higher cal days and weeks. cannot always be lower..

i am surely a foodie of sorts ;) lucky for me i like both healthy and less desirable (for health) foods haha

horn_of_plenty on 09/08/2022:
turns out a coworker is bringing in something for me...i suggested a pumpkin pie :)

Donkey on 09/08/2022:
The need for Spanish interpreters is overwhelming. So it would seem that the position you want to test for is not on this list. Am I reading that correctly?

horn_of_plenty on 09/08/2022:
EXACTLY - my tests are not on the list yet.

and my friend Jen who just lost her job...she speaks spanish fluently...i wish she had signed up for the test. the pay scale starts at 60k!

horn_of_plenty on 09/08/2022:
she just lost the job she had on Friday. she had it 3 months with probation - i think they were hiring her as temp.

horn_of_plenty on 09/08/2022:
they actually just made another change, but the job added to the list is court reporter...on the exam date or something. so at least they are making changes...they put in a date that says "late fall"....maybe there will be more tests in "late fall" ...fingers crossed :) but i do have a job for now...so it doesn't really matter right now....about the court tests....just to stay in the loop, that's all.

horn_of_plenty on 09/08/2022:

coffee&calories on 09/08/2022:
It is very motivating and encouraging to see that occasionally you eat a little more than you maybe wanted to, but it doesn't derail you, make you binge, or anything. It just is what it is. No big deal, your mind understands it's obviously going to happen because you're human. And then you stop. You should acknowledge how amazing you're doing with your fitness and maintaining a weight loss. It's literally around 97% of people regain everything and then some within 3 years. By those figures, why bother trying? But then the odd person comes around to show it IS possible :)

horn_of_plenty on 09/08/2022:
is that true really 97% wow!

thanks for rooting for me! when i read your message earlier, you had me totally smiling and feeling so good at worK!

thank you for the kind words.....i do acknowledge it....and also i know it can be so hard to keep on and maintain this weight...

...but i have learned so much, i eat many very filling meals :)

Donkey on 09/07/2022:
I did back weights and legs. I can't tell, but I think maybe my hamstrings are coming along. At least they feel thick(er). So I'm glad to hear that you've "joined" me too.

Now that school has started up again, is it busier on the roads in the morning?

horn_of_plenty on 09/07/2022:
glad to join you!

yesterday, i purposely took public transportation to avoid traffic.

today, i purposely left a little earlier and avoided traffic.

i will see what comes of the drive home - and try to leave on time most this week.

so far, i have planned to avoid traffic and even got lucky on the train going home (maybe there were more trains in succession) because it wasn't full and i got seats on both trains going home.

:-D

all my work on legs has helped me a bit....i notice a different look to my body as a whole / curves on bottom half

Jacky82020 on 09/07/2022:
You are doing a terrific job on maintenance, unlike me. I’m going to play with the graphs so I look thinner. LOL. I don’t think you can change old weight entries, but I can reset the starting weight & goal. Or maybe I should let the existing graphs stand as a wake up call.

horn_of_plenty on 09/07/2022:
you also maintain really well! i have been working at it for the past 20 years....the past few being most successful...

i am not sure about changing old weight entries...i'm thinking you can?

happy-1 on 09/07/2022:
I love that you work on your fitness if you get in early.

horn_of_plenty on 09/07/2022:
yes, totally helps to start it right away :) xx

horn_of_plenty on 09/07/2022:
And 2 cookies

2200 total, good

SomeFineDay on 09/08/2022:
You exercised in the parking lot? What did you do? Maybe my Bobby should try that.

horn_of_plenty on 09/08/2022:
I do...i don't like doing it in the parking lot because other workers will park and go into work and wonder how i have the time to spend out there and not go into work...but it is my time before work. usually, i'll walk away from the lot and do it in a more discreet area...i do squat variations and calf raises. just like 5-10 minutes before work so i didn't have to also do them after work along with everything else...

if early to work, it's a good idea to use the time like that. but i wouldn't do it INSIDE work as people would be coming up to me about work...so it was the parking lot of wait until i got home or so.

Lunch: healthy mix - more protein today...tofu 100 with garlic if there is any at work; and a microwavable cauliflower chicken bowl i found at Aldi nice, nice good flavoring i will estimate more than package says as i think there's more sauce  350, pretzels 100...550...the microwave meal flavored the tofu - i mix it up.

1200......

the chicken cauliflower flavoring was excellent. highly recomment. just small. need to fill with low cal things, like egg whites, tofu, or salad or eat on rice cakes, etc.

1200.........

Snacks before going home: clementine 50

1250......

Calling Christine tonight to hear about her first day of classes but not going to talk too long - setting phone to ONE HOUR. alarm.

Showering tonight so i can just get up and leave tomorrow AM...

(Reminder -  drive in tomorrow so i can do weights tomorrow (LEGS IN AM) & Upper body after work ... Thursday will be my other weights day)

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/06/2022:
Yay, great start for today. And that one lady is gone from work now, right? Or is today her last day?

Nice plans for weights this week!

horn_of_plenty on 09/06/2022:
you need to be reminded of this - you are sharp as a tack! holy. not sure how you remembered!?

YES. it's supposedly her last day today, the 45yo.

and the younger girl Crystal is out of this office as of Monday morning last week which has been great and i'm just getting into picking up the rest of her tasks...so i should feel bombarded and not be writing to you now hahaha. yes, but, may as well write you back ;)

yup.

i'm really happy to not have weights tonight...so i can chop veggies while chatting on the phone with Christine. i owe her a call. haven't spoken on the phone for a few weeks.

Jacky82020 on 09/06/2022:
How rude! DD logged me out when I was replying to you. LOL. I Was saying I’m going to try that Aldi’s cauliflower bowl. Shop there once a month or so. They never restocked the black bean vegan patties I like best, but have other vegan patties with about 100 calories. They are ok when air fried for a few minutes and make a nice lunch.

horn_of_plenty on 09/06/2022:
later i'll write the name of the cauliflower thing from aldi's that i have with me...very low cal.

horn_of_plenty on 09/06/2022:
i'll also let you know how it tastes!

SomeFineDay on 09/06/2022:
I will try to find that bowl too! We have an Aldi’s in town. Thye do have some great prices.

horn_of_plenty on 09/06/2022:
BEST PRICES.

Sometimes the produce (fruit/veg) is spoiled tho, but the packaged foods are NICE!

i love all the snacks...chips, etc.

horn_of_plenty on 09/06/2022:
it is VERY good....i will update with name later as i threw the box away without taking photo. its cauli, chicken, black beans and corn..230 cals or something real low. i put tofu on it to be mroe filling and will show phtoo later too

Jacky82020 on 09/06/2022:
Thanks, HoP. I will def try to find it. I must confess I gave up on their protein bars and am back to Pure Protein, my original choice beginning many years back. Aldi’s is using corn syrup or other real sugars in their protein bars and that can easily add up to 100 calories Xtra per bar. I am sure many appreciate this and wish to avoid artificial sweeteners, but not me. None have ever upset my GI system and I’d just as soon avoid the added sugars.

happy-1 on 09/06/2022:
Love Aldis. Try not to break out into a chorus of “Ding dong the witch…” I hear it is unprofessional.

horn_of_plenty on 09/06/2022:
hahahahahaha:) i hops shes not going to show up tomorrow! you never know!!!

Jacky82020 on 09/06/2022:
Hey, HoP, I just noticed something interesting about DD. It appears that if a person does not post for a week or so, people are unable to make comments on their last post. I was going to ask Bear what’s up & to please return, as she posted with no trouble from the webmasterKids after they came on & then demanded to be banned. Not trying to stir up any drama, but this is puzzling. Also baffling IP would ask to be reinstated and not post. I hope she’s ok and didn’t get sick or anything.

horn_of_plenty on 09/06/2022:
i think IP may not be looking...i did tell her with a message on fb private that she has been asked to come back :) kinda like Donkey did for me...when my password wasn't working :)

Maybe IP just busy...hopefully she'll come when she's ready.

it's always been that way....i think it used to be two weeks or so old and you cannot keep commenting on the old ones. it doesn't allow for it. always.

It was, Leggies! and you sound good as well!

That’s kinda weird to me how they stop comments in a week or so here. You can comment for years in the fish and car forums. It’s different though. They have a search bar, so if you’re looking for info on a certain fish or tank equipment, you can often reach someone who had the same problem years ago. They are often gone & won't reply, but many are glad to help even though they’re no longer active posters.

horn_of_plenty on 09/07/2022:
i hear you...i've been on other forums too, much larger; where the commenting continues...but it's prob for the better that it stops here.

coffee&calories on 09/06/2022:
Your lunch looks so delicious!!! Im thinking the calories are somewhat accurate because there aren’t any carbs like rice that add most of the cals. I really enjoy frozen meals sometimes, so convenient!

horn_of_plenty on 09/07/2022:
and this one was great...i also had pretzels on the side for carbs. just a serving. i always have carbs with meals now...i do balance my meals because then i do not crave whatever i was missing in the meal...it's very filling; usually my work lunches are extra filling with a lot of veggies....to be satisfying enough to keep me from snacking all afternoon at work...i do not really snack in the afternoon at work; only the mornings

Jacky82020 on 09/07/2022:
Yeah, it’s different here and I doubt a search bar would be useful. I have talked to guys who last posted 10 years ago in the fish forum & Matt is rebuilding a car over 50 years old. He too pings some old posters and sometimes gets good info, but often they are MIA, probably many changed their email adds.

The fish forums only closed threads when people started arguing. It was usually a group of New Zealanders fighting with UK people. They disagreed on basics. It would be like if someone here went on a high protein diet and another on keto and each insisted there was only one way, their way. I never said a word, but the arguments were often amusing, especially when both sides used words we don’t here in the US.

Today, i'm going to drive to my friend Jen's home in a different part of Queens that borders Brooklyn. We will then take the train "Take the A Train" to be exact, just like that Jazz song! - to another area of Brooklyn that....is on the water! We are eating at a really nice restaurant that is not overly pricey but has TONS of veggie sides. I'm treating. she just lost her job she had 3 months on probation type of thing. It was her first time at the job with those skills needed; i think they were going to hire someone with a connection after dropping Jen. hard times.

Anyways, back to us, we will be walking around, enjoying Brooklyn..nice part, nice views of NYC. We may actually go on a ferry. it would be either my 1st or 2nd time taking a NYC ferry. i've been on other ferries, other places, but i'm not sure i was ever on a Ferry in NYC. Should be fun i hope we do.

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/05/2022:
I agree with Happy! That, along with the ballgame on Friday - it's a Charmed Life sometimes, isn't it? :-)

We here in the northern parts have to grab these temperate days, with good weather, while we can!

horn_of_plenty on 09/05/2022:
Yes, feeling like a Charmed life and no worries and good times this weekend !!!!!

Jacky82020 on 09/05/2022:

Happy Labor Day Weekend & Saturday!!!

We made it, woohoo! I didn't think this day was going to come, seriously, a long week this week at work without my boss there and so many other changes with personnel! I'm overly filled with gratitude to be off these next three days from work!

I slept in and had a really nice breakfast around 10a.

10:30-11a Breakfast: oats 150, coffee/almond milk and craisins 150 total here, tahini (ground sesame seed butter) in the oats 100, white chocolate chips keto by Lily's 50, some stevia added into oats negl, 450 with healthy fats.

2:30p Lunch: 2 small seaweed snacks 50; tofu x2 200 with 1/2 microwavabe pasta a la vodka 200, 450.

Snacks:blueberries 150

Snacks / Dinner:at the game - part of someone's hot preztel 150 tops- SO NICE she gave some to me thankful bc i only was drinking a Rose 150 and needed some carbs lol ....at the game, the can of Rose cost $15! i will tell you, it tasted good....lol..next, i later stood on a long line for a cup (rather large tho) of soft serve ice cream vanilla / chocolate mix (vanilla was the better flavor)...and this i finished off! 500 tops. 800 tops.

1850, great cals. no exercise beyond walking around stadium / using public transportation; errands; and that was enough :)

Plans for today only:

I'm going to have a nice shower after breakfast and feel good about myself today and enjoy this 3-day weekend to the fullest!

i've been cleaning up; and the time is slipping away from me!...
  • i want to clean out my garage with the work garbage that i'll throw out instead of recycle bc it may pose a problem with my workplace so i'll have to trash the stuff in order to not have any work issues...long story lol...just throwing stuff out in order not to ship things back to a recycling center which doesn't seem to be very popular and don't want a shipping issue with post office either as the shipping label i printed is many months old.  Been waiting and putting this item off for 2 weeks now it's been sitting in my Garage.
  • I may drive to a very close T-Mobile – remove Cricket sound with other sound for phone reminders please!!!!!!!! - i can't seem to swtich out the cricket sound as reminder...even though i don't even see where i've made that selection in my phone. been looking in various areas of phone and i chose other sounds, but the cricket one is still going off!....if not today, Monday T mobile told me to contact Apple Support...i will do that Monday..
  • Laundry today - mine and gp cage cleanings...very important to do so Monday can be more restful.  I'd like to do most of my chores today so I can be more "free" the rest of this nice, long weekend....if not today, Monday

Tonight: Going to a baseball game

Decide what time i'm leaving my apt and where i'm driving in order to take either the train or bus to the 7:15p  Evening Citifield Mets vs Washington Nationals Baseball Game at stadium very close to me. Got tickets for a group rate of $34 with the "Welfare Club" that i'm in. (just a name of the club, it's 100 yrs old) ..I am going alone but will see people in the club when i get there.

Ended up seeing good friends there; worked out even better than expected!

horn_of_plenty on 09/03/2022:

Jacky82020 on 09/03/2022:
Apple customer service has always been very helpful to me on the phone, even for out of warranty devices. Call them! It would not surprise me if they are there 24/7.

horn_of_plenty on 09/04/2022:
that's jacky - i'm going to use the apple service app! that's what the guy at T mobile told me to do....will do that tomorrow when i'm home for the holiday!!!

Happy Fri!

I drove into work, even less traffic than i thought...got to work with 10 minutes to spare so i walked :)

Breakfast 7:30a: Krispy Kreme raspberry filled donut 300, coffee negl.

Snacks: pb x2 200 and a decaf, negl; 2 chocs 100

Lunch: healthy mix: grape tomatoes with yogurt sauce 100; toast x2, butter 250, crab cake from last night 300....650 total. really nice.

Snacks: may grab a richer protein / fat / moderate carb natural bar - to sustain me thru walking trip after work....250 and water - this bar was a great idea. i should do this more if i'm going to exercise after work.

6p or so snacks in car on way home after the park - was very hungry and realized i should just eat what i had on hand that i was taking home from work;  (40 min drive home from park / island below) 2 clemetines; banana total 200 at most.

i wanted to get takeout at that time i was very hungry, but seriously KNEW i'd binge on it...and that i had already eaten most of my calories...and it just wasn't worth the extra travel time driving in my car more than i had to in order to just get home...so i had snacky things for dinner to keep my mouth busy tonight and my mind satisfied.

7:45p Dinner: may do takeout, not sure, or swing my supermarket for a salad mix and add some things to it...snacks - kombucha, negl, 2 packs of seaweek snacks small 50; chips leftover 150, jackfruit dried 100..300..this may be it.

2000.

Goal is to leave work on time...basically, i did!

After work - On the way home, stopping at a park i've not been to on Roosevelt Island which lays between Manhattan & Queens in the East River. I get there by taking the free bridge and it's in the direction of home. I want to do someting new and different after work and this will be it. I've only been to the island 1x in general, so i'm looking forward to it and the views... This is an after-work trip for exercise and a new adventure :)

The walk was good; very beneficial use of my later afternoon hours after work :)

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/02/2022:
You've inspired me to look into some state parks to hike this weekend, if Husband wants to.

horn_of_plenty on 09/02/2022:
it doesn't stick with you tho...so of course the sugar high / low......but it was so worth it at the time i was eating it, LOL. but does nothing for satiation! hahaha

i hope you do hike!

happy-1 on 09/02/2022:
The after work adventure sounds great! Good job prioritizing self care and getting the 10 min walk in!

horn_of_plenty on 09/03/2022:
it was very nice, Happy. it was a good walk / hike around!

Jacky82020 on 09/02/2022:
Thanks so much on all the roasting vegetables info & for reassuring me my old bottle of expensive olive is still good. It would break my penny pinching heart to have to dump it & buy another. (Cry me a River emoji here)

the hike worked out well!...exactly what you wrote it was good.

SomeFineDay on 09/02/2022:
The island sounds exciting! And your food choices are all very good.

horn_of_plenty on 09/03/2022:
thanks, Fine!

if you look thru the day, there's a decent balance of food!

that's why i stick with peanut butter as a snack at work...it adds in healthy fats and a little protein...it typically balances out what i'm eating well.

Donkey on 09/03/2022:
You did a really good job with dinner, to avoid a take-out binge. Bravo!!!

horn_of_plenty on 09/03/2022:
i was happy to hold it together, knowing i had enough food during the day...especially with the bar before the walk...it was a balanced bar of ingredients.

thank you Donkey, it was a great day overall. and glad i didn't waste takeout on just being hungry and then overeat just bc i was too hungry and it was already so late last night...would have been a waste.

it's nice to stick to the foods i have at home when i have enough at home you know?

Weight: 108.0

Hi Everyone :) Drove to work and will do weights tonight :) Cardio rest day.

Breakfast: healthy nut/fruit bar 250, coffee 50...

snacks: half cake donut 150 from yesterday, banana medium 150, pb 100... (more indulgent and happy to have that 1/2 cake donut).

Lunch: healthy sorta tiny piece steak 100; roasted veggies 200; small bag butter popcorn / toast / butter 250. 550.

Snacks: maybe 2 sucking candies...50

Dinner: a little on the large side with nachos x2 which overdid it, friend fish cake and a  salad 800

during workout: some drinks, low cal, 50; two candies before bed 100.

2250 total. is ok!

...good though with cals, not the worst - and I had lost a pound or two this month so I'm fine ..

My plan is to go home, have a snack (fruit) and go into workout rather efficiently so i can go to bed at a decent hour.

I'm thinking tomorrow to do a really nice walk after work - at a park at an island called Roosevelt Island bc it's on the way home....it's sorta on the way home if i use the free bridge....and should provide really nice visual scenery and good change of pace.  I see there are many parks on the island...i've been there once but by taking the Tram, not driving. We'll see if it works out tomorrow after work, depends how i feel.

There's the overhead Tram, the subway, and driving that can take you on and off Roosevelt Island. People do live there and there's nursery / elementary school as well as shopping/stores. i do not think there's so many things there, there are a bunch of parks, there is a whole hospital site, a realty agency, some kind of energy company, the fire dept / emergency services; few restaurants some nice and fancy, and a church; as far as business is considered tho.  It's not a huge island but does have all the resources for people to live.  It's between Manhattan and Queens in the East River and in Winter can be very chilly bc it's surrounded by water.

It's TOM today...few days early...so maybe that is also a reason for my increased emotions/feeling sick/bathroom needs this week.

Man, this TOM is one of the more frustrating months...enough cramps and discontent to have me reaching for quite a few doses of OTC pain reliever...it's not pain, just discomfort and low energy.

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Donkey on 09/01/2022:
After the disaster day yesterday, I hope you have a calmer, quieter day. A walk after work on Friday sounds like a lovely idea.

horn_of_plenty on 09/01/2022:
So far, today is 100% better. I will think like an optimist also!

It's TOM today, a few days early...maybe why yesterday felt even harder than maybe it was ;)

Thanks Donkey.

Jacky82020 on 09/01/2022:
Your roasted vegetables sound so enticing. How are you doing it? Mine shriveled up in the oven and came out bad in the air fryer too. All limp. I took shortcuts with the AF. All their recipes required olive oil & coatings like bread crumbs and even cheese. I don’t want all the added fat and carbs. I continue to stir fry the Normandy Blend (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash) in a big electric skillet and use oil spray and spices. I can get them nicely browned, but your roasted ones sound really good.

horn_of_plenty on 09/01/2022:
i always add at least salt and pepper as seasoning; sometimes other things too. instead of salt, to avoid it garlic is a good substitute.

i do use olive oil that i make sure to get a thin coating on the veggies using my hands to even it all out...the olive oil does help with the roasting and the flavor...i try not to overdo the oil and it's still better than roasted potatoes which have more calories in them compared to the lighter roasted veggies which start with way less calories in them (comparing like broccoli or brussel sprouts to potatoes). and it takes a full tablespoon of oil to add 100 cals...which i figure is the most that would coat a serving of my veggies per serving that i take. in order to use less oil and not waste it, i smooth it with my hands over the veggies. also, if you could roast fresh garlic, i know it gets very tasty and sweetens. i do not buy garlic bc it's easier for me to just keep the canned, minced in my fridge and not deal with fresh garlic spoiling.

Jacky82020 on 09/01/2022:
Thanks, HoP. I’m gonna try that. I’ve been stupid re avoiding healthy oils like olive to reduce fat intake and then stuffing my face with frozen M&Ms and Reese cups etc. I do have some good olive oil. I sure hope that stuff keeps, because it has to be over a year old. I also have spray olive oil and can try being more generous with it. I use minced & powdered garlic.

horn_of_plenty on 09/01/2022:
I think the olive oil lasts years :)

Also, the olive oil will give it a very nice flavor - you can still make some veggies the way you always do and just add a side of the richer stuff to yours - so you can balance it out - you don’t have to roast it all, you know ? Also if you want an inbetween, roasting is prob more oil than sautéing - either sautéing you can use a little water and oil - and if you flavor things enough it’s like any liquid at the end is very healthy like a broth ….

Took me awhile also to get into the sautéing / roasting with oil

horn_of_plenty on 09/01/2022:
And sometimes you just have to have the dairy and cakes ;) I did that today ha ha
