edit: i WENT TO THE MEETING - my dad called at literally 5:55pm to say he was speaking and i then ran out the door and ran to the meeting, prob got there around 6:05 and luckily it didn't start yet and i didn't miss him speaking...i WISH he told me ahead of time!!!!!!!!!GRRRRRRRRR. so i did go out again after work.  usually i go to the meetings and my dad doesn't...and every time i want to skip, he ends up going and speaking (only reason he'll go is if he speaks!)

sleep wasn't great last  night but that's surely ok considering the hours i'd been logging in the preceeding days!!!!

all healthy so far this morning, in moderation - which means all foods, def not low fat or no carb or anything like that...but trying to choose foods that compliment and satisfy so i'm not STARVING all morning. so far it's working.

5:30am (still need to get outta bed a hair earlier or at least start drinking the drink a half hour earlier ?....) Home: kombucha which worked but i was a few minutes late to work bc of ...pooping...and not wanting to leave without doing so!

7am till noon: Breakfast and snacks: coffee, banana, whole wheat wrap with egg and small slices salami, mix of peanuts and cashews!

Lunch: TBD and healthy of course! sandwiches provided by work and i did indulge bc they were actually healthy but i did eat two large halves...one was turkey on a pita with a nice amount of healthy turkey and a nice amount of avocado and even a light maybe mayo spread and even some sprouts ! the second was tuna that i ate most of - tuna was excellent on a pita again...and some chips that i think were homemade! (we are NYC, folks!). the sandwiches were great, i decided to fill up! 750 lots of protein, some healthy pita, and even avocado and obviously some mayo at least in the tuna. but healthy it was, just not many veggies. but still more than i've EVER SEEN in a sandwich! like, sprouts!? who's had a sandwich with sprouts in it before!? not me!

1450 after lunch...

Snack: clementine :) 1500

Dinner: at home :-) I have tons of bean pasta and marinara sauce :) and i SKIPPED the optional meeting...HAVE TO SAY NO TO SOMETHING SOMETIMES. just no. not tonight. i'm sleeping early and that's it. 2 servings pasta 400, and a lot of sauce 150? 550.

2050...and i was gonna reach for blueberries, but this total is excellent...time for a nice hot shower, followed by some seltzer and reading, then BED early. woohoo, i am glad to sleep early tonight after a sorta restless sleep last night.

proud of myself for skipping the meeting but NOT BINGEING!!!!!!!!! cheers to good choices today. i don't want to get fat....its NOT WORTH it. (i have gained weight on and off in the past, that is something not happening again - per my decision right now).

4day avg is also 2050. Very Very happy with this because other weeks were really getting high previous to this week which is moderate for sure at 2050 per day...whereas other weeks i was closer to 2200 which is quite a bit more per day!

no class tonight bc there was a meeting (optional and i should go since i can walk there, but i'm home and that's it for today.) i go to most meetings and i do NOT need to be 100%.  I am grateful for this early night, gym tomorrow night!

good nite all!

Hope you have a good day. You are appreciated on here. You give everyone lots of encouragement.

bearcountrygg on 02/27/2018:
Looks like you have a lot of really healthy food to choose from......that makes it so much easier. Maybe you finally just got caught up on sleep.....

Donkey on 02/27/2018:
Oh my, your lunch sounds so delicious! My work provided lunch for us too -- well, actually a visiting vendor, but same difference. However, I can attest that mine was probably not nearly as delicious or healthy as yours. I'm not a big fish fan, but when you said tuna, I just melted. YUM.

Good for you for not going to the meeting. I've been working on setting limits for myself too, and not feeling guilty about it. I'm hoping for another early bedtime :-)

horn_of_plenty on 02/28/2018:
i really hate when it seems i can't put any limits or any of my own choices on anything. it really annoys me BIG TIME.

Donkey on 02/27/2018:
LOL on the meeting -- OK, I understand why you went.

horn_of_plenty on 02/28/2018:
yeah i had less choice...don't wanna stand my dad up...that's unfair to him. not sure why he couldn't tell me sooner.

bearcountrygg on 02/28/2018:
Well....I'm glad you heard your Dad speak...and I'm sure he was glad too.

(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 112.0

750 thru 11am

Snack of cheese from coworker really good 100

Noon granola bar before short 15 min walk & lunch 100

Healthy lunch from deli: lots of shrimp which turns out VERY spicy in a cilantro and hot pepper light sauce (not what i expected but definitley closes off the appetite!) 200?, and lots of portabella mushrooms only lightly coated (healthy lunch!) 150...beause i ate a ton thru the morning.

1300 after a FILLING lunch which is what i love! filling veggies and some protein....not planning on another snack during work at all, just dinner and i'm planning on sushi from a place in walking distance to the bus by me (not looking to eat at home...my workout clothes are waiting for me IN MY CAR) so plan is just to walk home, drop something off on the walk at Rickys, get in my car & go!).

500-550 healthy dinner (sushi)

250 after workout.

2050 or so. good.

3day = 2050 = very good for this week as my goal has been to stay just around this amount for awhile to see what my weight does.

tomorrow after work i have a meeting to go to...it's not right after work tho. so i'll come home, eat dinner, then walk there (it's 10 minutes away from my apt).  i'd rather skip it, but i know i should JUST GO.

I will walk 10-15min at lunch...

now that i start at 7am i am def getting quite hungry in the morning...but good thing is i leave at 3:30 to go home, so if i have a good lunch i shouldn't need too much in the afternoon besides a small snack - forgot my clementine...i'll prob have carbs, maybe nuts.

...gym tonight....

...ok back to work.

I'm embarassed about how weak my legs are.  Even just standing on the subway train for 20-30 min i can feel it...I obviously need to move more and not less. Will work on it.

Gym session was good but my pushups suck! my situps have gotten better there. i guess i just need to do more faster and smaller sets of pushups to build up my endurance and strength to do more :)

my legs feel stronger this week & they are also starting to do a little more at the gym.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 02/26/2018:
To answer you cocnut water/milk question...I'm drinking coconut water called BAI....says it's an antioxidant and is 10 cals per bottle

horn_of_plenty on 02/26/2018:
i don't think its too much real coconut water...but it is a nice taste. there is caffeine.

i have had all those drinks, yes, they are quite tasty.

but if it's 10 cal, there is hardly any coconut water in it...but a good way to save calories. and made with a mix i think of stevia and erythritol.

talk later!

they also have bai carbonated drinks.

Donkey on 02/26/2018:
Hope you had a good workout at the gym tonight!

bearcountrygg on 02/25/2018:
Did you do the BEEP test?

horn_of_plenty on 02/26/2018:
yeah, i failed it miserably...my legs are completely out of shape, i'll try to do better and train....i would definitely have to improve quite a bit to be considered for the academy - to pass their test. I didn't even get the lowest score...i was completely under par, scary. it shows that my legs / and oxygen intake, etc., are not good.

i have to decide if it's even worth it to train. i think it is...but i'm a long ways off. then again, i don't run...so if i could start training again, there's hope for me...though i definitely will have to see improvement...and not too many backslides.

it wasn't good. i need to def keep training and improving. my starting point is horrible, literally.

i didn't realize it would be as difficult, again, until i tried it.....not sure if i should just quit on this...for now i'll keep it as a goal.

horn_of_plenty on 02/26/2018:
I am still debating if I can improve enough with training because health manuals and different things state that at 35 (which i am) ability decreases...and i'm starting off VERY low...i am thinking I can improve with practice...i am NOT sure i can improve enough. I'll still practice now...not ready to give up yet...i want to see where i am at in the fall / December of this year.

horn_of_plenty on 02/26/2018:
My abs are at an average level and my pushup level is high, my legs are not even at the minimal level....they are below average. they do not even score one point on the exam they give...like i said, i'm seeing if i can improve.

my legs have always got tired easily...from lack of exercise except the time i did exercise them and got to doing 5mi a run right before my injury. I suppose i can improve if i work on it....like i said i'm not sure how MUCH i can improve...i do have 2 years to work on this...before any exam...

Donkey on 02/25/2018:
I love plain yogurt!-- but I confess that lately, my guilty pleasure has been vanilla Greek yogurt (not fat free). If I liked Stevia, I would go this route, since Stevia is natural. I try very hard to limit my artificial sweeteners. (And as you know, I keep trying to cut out white sugar altogether...)

I thought of you... I did go shopping, but my morning was not much and my afternoon (after shopping) was not much either, other than folding laundry/putting away. Gotta gear up for the work week ahead!

9:30am snack: roasted lightly salted almonds 200 and clementine 30

Choc 80 840

lunch: i have leftovers so no need to buy any food until Sunday :) I have enough food for lunch and dinner here at home...planning to do a little cooking Sunday before the work week - to cook healthy dinners - at least the protein part :) i might pick up the bananas and some salad greens / veggies, though after running because i do not have fresh veggies right now in my fridge.

lunch chinese veggies 250? wrap 60 with butter 40, lox50, corn muffin with cooked cranberries 250 = 650.

1500, good...goal is 2050 cals today. dinner plan is light ice cream again...

I Slept 12 hours ! Up and happy! Good weather to try the beep test outside to see where I am at.

beep test i tried but did horribly...tons of room for improvement...i failed it. i am eager to start again to work on my cardio & see how i am next year.

2100 total pretty good.

I'm sorry I didn't get to commenting to wish you luck in the change of your office location. I'm glad to read that your commute went well. The hours sound better to me, too. How does that work out with your class after work?

horn_of_plenty on 02/24/2018:
It won't affect the class and it just means I'll definitely not have to leave early from work to go to it ....no change :)

Home Kombucha, didn't work 70

Breakfast / Snacks: coffee 100, banana 120, wrap 60 with ketchup 20 and egg 100. 400, salt and pepper cashews 200...hungry and cannot concentrate, jittery...had pb crackers 200

900 before lunch - hopefully not more.

Lunch healthy: clementine 50, roasted potatoes: 200?, marinated mushrooms: 150?, flounder 150? total here 550. food is great in deli across the street! and healthy...plan is to enjoy it for a week or two for now...and maybe just eat more dinners at home! YES...like i can still prepare food, but it will be prepped for my dinner rather than my lunch! that's all...

1450 after lunch...

Dinner: to be a light dinner of lite ice cream and maybe some fruit. Not more than 400 cal..very light ice cream like 350 cal for the whole pint!

not more than1850 total today.

Saturday plans are really simple:go to track and set up for the BEEP test..try it...this will be in morning after breakfast. then lunch & after lunch i'll go to gym for a workout. after that i'm not sure...i'm not even sure what to do Sunday! well...laundry, get some food for the week - i plan to eat out for lunch next week everyday...food is good & healthy so right now i'm going to enjoy it since like i said - it's very HEALTHY.

ending the day on a more positive note: 2070 avg cals per day = DECENT! it's my goal to remain with weekly averages now in the 2000s rather than 2100 or 2200! I'm doing good if i make the choice to eat less today. i can do it!

it won't be a "low cal" week or even moderate cal week, it'll end around 2200 cals per day, but i'll try my best to manage my appetite tonight and eat a lighter dinner - maybe a pint of light ice cream or something to just enjoy the motions of eating but go to bed early tonight...hope to have a more productive day tomorrow after a full night of restful sleep.

Last night i was in bed by around 7pm, up at 4:45. It's enough sleep, yes, but lately i am extremely tired and it helps me not to get sick as i transition again to a new workplace and commute as well as new coworkers and slightly new assignments....

I ate a bunch of carbs for dinner and was fully knocked out afterwards...but it's also from all the changes going on for me - my body is definitely still adjusting and i'll prob be finally adjusted by April or so - it's very important right now to me to move thru Winter with continuing my gym sessions and the class i'm taking. I also have a small number of other commitments (just like a couple of them) until April, so, I have enough on my plate until then. I say April because April is in about a month from now and that's how long I figure it'll take me to feel comfortable and used to the new commute (which actually i have a choice of station i use so i'll try a different subway station going home tonight - they are both equally distant from work - around 1/4 mile...)

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

1st day working in NYC during the time i've been an adult. Once, while i was in college, i worked for a brief amount of time there.

So today i'm up earlier, just before 5am, and now i'll leave my apt at 5:45-5:55 to get to work by 7am. Hopefully this is enough time, i think it is & i'll be testing it today and tomorrow.

My new hours will be 7am-3:30...3:30 is the good part....and if i were able to get home by 4:30, that would be amazing!

Had kombucha early so I'm finally mostly unbloated. Had a banana 200 cal Packed a breakfast wrap 60, one slice salami 20, egg and ketchup 100. 200 400 Also packed a water. I'll def go out or order in lunch - hoping to go out although it's raining today I think by lunchtime....

There's a march in the city Saturday - def not going. I'll be really happy to sleep in. I now wake up around 4:45-5. Scale says I have gained around 2-4lbs

Coffee 100 and cashews 200 700 before lunch really happy it's 11 and that I can go home at 3:30pm

Lunch from right across street huge prepared food marketplace lots of roasted and also sautéed broccoli 150, 2 pieces of plaintains 150, lots of seared tuna with sesame seeds 250? 550-600 - just expensive and i coulda taken a hair less food. it was around $7.50

3pm snacks: 100

1350...really happy to go home in 20 minutes, i'm really tired.

Dinner: Overate pretzels 350, peanut butter 120, cooked cranberries 60, yogurt 140 total here 700

Was going to be lower cal but binged on pretzels - bed soon

not gonna bring lunch to work tomorrow, planning to go out and expore the area for lunch since my coworker / boss is out this week....so i def plan to go out for lunch - and not bringing lunch would be that excuse.!!!!!!! it's the city so there's gonna be tons of food places in that area.

Gym tonight...helps me in my goals to improve my fitness.

my location is changing again for work so i'm going to also change my hours. it'll take around 25 minutes longer to reach work now and same to come home...so instead of 45 min, it'll be around 1hr and 10min each way. i'm FREAKING TIRED and really not ready for the commute change to start TOMORROW. anyways, the change should be BETTER with me doing more work with someone i already know. I should be acting as an assistant to an estimator / project manager instead of being left to my own devices. I need to pack my stuff today so it can be delivered to the new location tomorrow. it's actually directly in NYC (Manhattan)...not queens or surrounding area. This is cool...maybe actually i realize there might be an Express bus i can take to work - the whole way - gonna look into that now.

Express bus is double the price, adding up to around $120 a month...not sure it's worth it - so i'll just stick with bus and train (takes the same amount of time and physically it more of an exercise if i stick to bus and train rather than sitting straight for an hour on the express bus).

Chocolate is not coming with me to the new work location.

I am going to change my hours, to start earlier @ 7am and get outta work by 3:30pm - instead of 7:30-4.  with a longer commute home, it's hard enough to get to the gym after work - i'd rather aim to get home earlier. lol, but i realize i won't be - as the half hour just covers the additional commute - but maybe there's the express bus...checking this.

Home: kombucha 60

Breakfast: wrap and ketchup 80, 1 pc salami and an egg 100, banana 120, coffee 50: 350.

snack: cashews, 2 chocolates 300

Healthy lunch: 640

Snack: clementine 50

1400 before dinner

Dinner before gym: thinking a Subway sandwich that i'll buy at lunchtime.

early 3:30 dinner - out of work early ... Gym will be a little early thankfully and bed early thankfully !!! New schedule starting tomorrow...

2250 total, good.

lots going on right now...with the changing of job offices again.

gym workout was decent but my pushups were horrible.

2175 4-day average. tired day.

Home: kombucha (didn't work - lately i'm a bit blocked up sorry tmi) 60

Breakfast: low carb wrap by Tumaro's (loving them again! - i used to be sick of them but boy are they good when they are toasted!) 60, cheese 100, egg 100 and salami only 1 slice, coffee50 , chocolate 50 (yeah still on it). 360.

saving banana for later and will enjoy with some cashews 220 (too much sugar to eat banana...i seriously need to quit a bit of my sugar to get my body feeling better i think...not quit all sugar, but especially in the mornings here at work while i sit at this desk, i don't think i need to eat all the sugars right now - i wanna get back to more higher fat items - like eating my eggs (and not peanut butter on a wrap) - i do feel much better after the egg and cheese and meat than when i eat peanut butter and i'm starving in two hours. seriously - try it - low carb wraps and an egg and 1 slice salami - i'm not rebuying the cheese...that's the end of it...now i'll toast my sandwiches without it and see how it fills me up - maybe with mustard or ketchup.

650 before lunch.

Lunch: balanced and from home - trying to remember what i ate...half sweet potato with skin 100, 150 in chilli, cauliflower 50, chicken sausage 150, lettuce  50 at most: 500, excellent!...snack of 1 chocolate 50

Snack: clementine

Dinner: to buy it at lunchtime from the tasty Marketplace for a good dinner to eat before my class tonight...healthy stuff...lots of veggies...not more than 600

2050 actually today....maybe strawberries and jello after class, before bed.

Got everything done this weekend except cleaning the hamster cage which i'll do Thursday night.

I am trying to stop constantly crossing my legs at work and trying to sit with them straight for a little while each day..or as long as i can take it...better circulation i think.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 02/20/2018:
Yes to not crossing legs...I sat on one leg for years...and still do when I forget...and I'm paying for it now with hip pain....I've been limping 100% of the time now for at least 3 months...definitely better to break those habits while you are still young.

horn_of_plenty on 02/20/2018:
lol, will now uncross my legs...it's def on autopilot over here ... even just stopping for a few minutes a day will be helpful on my end!

400 Greek yogurt and yellow raisins added cinnamon and couple pretzels Dark chicolate at parents house before walk 100 Hour walk from 10-11am legs were tired so I'm happy to be home - had lunch at 11 and took a shower falling asleep for like 45 minutes after my shower. Change of plans bc rock hit my windshield yesterday and having it repaired today Lunch bread 250 with cream cheese 100 and lox 100, persimmon 100

1050... Hopefully car repair done by 3:30 then driving directly to gym after stopping to bring washed clothes and stuff from parents up to my apt first first

coffee and bar before gym 250

1300 :)

Healthy dinner: 250 in carbs, lots of leftover chinese eggplant minus most of the sauce plus lettuce lol 200, chicken sausage 150, strawberries 50. total is 650, excellent!

1950 - very pleased, much better day to end the long weekend right!

3day average: 2216 - won't help weight loss but it's a decent average. The thing i've learned is not to have a bad day and try to balance it - no - but to have many good days instead...and not have all these bad days. to work towards being more successful and careful. less chocolate. less junk.

Sounds like maybe the windshield turned out to be something that actually worked in your favor...even though it isn't a fun thing to happen...it did allow you to do some things you might not have done otherwise.

Horn_of_plenty on 02/19/2018:
For Sure :) it's the only reason i got in the long walk...and then had lunch at home with dad so tasty...and fell asleep...it was a good day overall !

i can't complain, it was productive and i didn't overeat!

Donkey on 02/19/2018:
I'm impressed with the walk! Hope your legs won't be rebelling tomorrow... How nice that you had a chance to visit with your folks.

I'd rather see a higher daily caloric intake with healthy foods, than going back to binge-eating. Just my opinion, but trying to offer some perspective.

horn_of_plenty on 02/20/2018:
i agree, just notice the weight gain around my stomach and don't want it to continue - will work on it slowly.

horn_of_plenty on 02/20/2018:
there's so rebellion - i can attribute to soreness only...so we'll just be aware and not be pushing myself to do any extra walking...i wore horrible shoes yesterday - def realize i need to wear better shoes overall, gonna switch out the "fakes" i bought in colombia with no support - and use better sneakers even going to work. but overall, i realize i need to lay back on the cardio rest of this week.

horn_of_plenty on 02/19/2018:
The soup in AM was very tasty - glad I did the taxes and now can forget about them :) my friend had done his the day before so it motivated me to do the same and get them done too!

happy-1 on 02/19/2018:
Look at you, over achiever!

horn_of_plenty on 02/19/2018:
Right !? It was mostly easy - hopefully I have no problems or get audited !

bearcountrygg on 02/19/2018:
Maybe some of us are turning over a new leaf? Maybe we had wake up calls? I know I have.

horn_of_plenty on 02/19/2018:
In the past I know how the backslide started: gained 1 pound then another and another by constantly overeating and continuously having worse and worse cravings and bingeing and letting my weight spiral over a period of 2-3 years - not about to go that route again. Will try to stop with all the chocolate as well as try to eat more around but 2000 than above that in calories :) it's def being worked on :)
