(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 112.0

Home: got outta bed too late, so only some water and a taste of honey....all is good, i mostly prepared the night before with food - so i'm set for the day.

Breakfast: wrap 100 with turkey burger (satisfying indeed) 220 (320), banana 120. total 450, dark chocolate 100

Snack: peanuts 150

Lunch: not the pizza, it's not helping me at all and simply creating cravings for more - no good - if i can work on ONE THING right now, it's my health and fitness..., so my lunch: roll toasted with butter 150, chicken sausage 150, lots of squash that was cooked with some oil 150-200. 500, good. - but i will prob take a taste of the pizza...i did - 100 cal there.

nobody seems to drink liquids or pee at this job! i def pee and drink the most....not that i'm about to change that or anything.

Healthy dinner approx 550-600...

Total today 2050 with good choices.

2210 5day

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Don't you hate getting up late on a work day???? I really did not like when that happened....seems to throw the whole day off...but then again...change can be nice sometimes...so I'm interested in seeing how you look at the day today.

horn_of_plenty on 02/07/2018:
i got up still with enough time to do things...just not to drink any tea. honestly, it made me want to drink more things at work...i think the tea thing is good at home...i think having it at home is a more relaxing thing and way to start the day...haha

bearcountrygg on 02/07/2018:
LOL...just read what I wrote above...can you tell that I was a Psych/Soc major??? LOL Always interested in how things affect things.

horn_of_plenty on 02/07/2018:
well...guess what!? ...I'm ALWAYS interested in people and psychology too! so it's helpful to read your comments and respond and also that's why i like DD...always i'm curious about people, their lives.

horn_of_plenty on 02/07/2018:
oh ... while i know i do not have as much control as i'd like to right now over much of my life, what i do have control over - making sure to get in the exercise, making sure to plan a lot of the food i eat - i will continue with it - with a goal that all the good choices that i've made will be WORTH SOMETHING...that all the little choices i make right now will add up to stabilizing my weight as i have...and also that the little choices to practice the exercise i hope will add up to increased fitness that will make it so i pass that fitness test for the court officer. if i ever get that ability to enter, to join the academy, i will do it for sure. academy would be very hard for me, compared to athletes (many are big & strong men in this field to start), but i know with a strong mental determination that i will last in that academy of only 3.5 months. ...

i just know, in the back of my mind, that i can do it...and not to quit my endeavors yet..

it cannot be that all the things in life that i have put an emphasis on (fitness and health)...that they cannot help me in life...i want to join my hobbies and health and fitness with a career that has stemmed from them...for some reason, it has become a goal of mine to link the two...to make it so all the training i have done has actually gotten me something...a career.

also, my determination to do the exercise and get better is SO STRONG knowing that if i am good enough - i can change my career...

ok, more to come!

innerpeace on 02/07/2018:
I hate waking up late too. I always feel like I'm being rushed and/or forgetting something.

horn_of_plenty on 02/07/2018:
yeah - only reason it wasn't bad today is bc i had prepped most of my food and everything last night...so this morning didn't require much extra time.

only thing is, i was extra hungry at work, without enjoy tea at home...i think it's worth it to drink something nice at home before going out to work in the morning....do you?

Happy it's a new day. Going to definitely work on not being a "stinker" aka a negative-thinking downer.

Workout last night gave me a wonderful happy high by the time i was done...this is why i guess i couldn't get rid of the gym...and seeing the gymgoers - the regulars - another reason that i really prefer to continue at the gym & not start working out at home.

Also, at the gym, i use MANY different sizes weights - better than buying so many for home...i just like the gym atmosphere, A LOT! So, i'll continue on...so glad i got it in last night though it was tough to get up this AM!

My goal is to also get my booty to the gym on Wednesday night, i already have my clothes out by my gym bag ready to go!

Thursday & Friday are nights off, with Gym big time on Saturday :-P i think this shall be my schedule for gym for now :-)

At my gym there's so many fun regulars that i see: Savvas a greek guy who's much older but with family and always goes so is always fit, Savvas another greek guy who also owns a gas station lol weird but cool to see community all in the same gym (bc it's one of the only gyms around!), i see regulars all around

This life is not a dress rehearsal...it's the real thing.......I'm going my own way starting today too.....may not make sense to others...but if it makes sense to us then it's right!!! GO YOU!!!

bearcountrygg on 02/06/2018:
Yes...some things we have to do for the greater good....but we also have to do the things that make us happy...balance....live for today and work toward the future good...keep our standards, have fun and at the same time keep an eye to what we want for later. Balance.

horn_of_plenty on 02/06/2018:

(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 112.0

2400 total and good exercise - I luckily ate a really healthy dinner that ricky made which gave me great energy for gym and I was able to eat moderately after - I am staying away from cake Tuesday

Home: kombucha 70

Breakfast at work: turkey burger that didn't look completely cooked i screwed it up! 200, bun 130, chocolate 70, banana 120, tea: 520.

Snack: probably peanuts - YUM!!!! 150 CAL

Lunch: pizza 800 / pepperoni 100? squash and chicken sausage that i brought - 150-200. 1050??

1800 after lunch...that's the only bad part to consuming a slice of pepperoni pizza..and it's NOT satisfying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i swear, pizza sucks...it was good only the moments i was actually eating it...GRRRRR! not worth it!!!!!!!!

calories today will be over 2200....for sure....with dinner and exercise...this week is sucking...maybe i'll lay off the pizza tomorrow ? hard to eat less than one slice!

i don't think i want lots of cake and pizza all week...maybe stick to my own lunch and a bite of pizza / cake should suffice.

sorry all - having a bad day over here.

This weekend just involved junk food and errands and not too much else...

**Boss brought in bagels and they are something i plan NOT to eat today** i think i need to give up on some of the treats in this office...they really aren't helping me...then again, i can have half a bagel wtih my lunch, no? LOL. too much...i'm sort of happy i ate breakfast not knowing about the bagels...i got some healthier things in - banana potassium, some of the turkey burger (good protein) a roll (far less calories than a bagel), chocolate - why not!?, and tea. **

I'm not relaxed and would love having a week off - starting now - but since that's not happening, i'll just relax at my desk and not stay as stressed as last week when i didn't have work to do - i'll just look at my teskbook, online, and wait for the work when it comes...and not worry. if i lose this job, it seriously wouldn't be the end of the world....i sincerely think that. i'd even settle for the lower pay at a different place in walking distance to my home :-)

Tonight the plan is to stop by Ricky's apt bc he's off today and eat the dinner he makes, then walk 5 min to my own apt, get my gym clothes, and go to gym. If i skip it, it'll not be good bc tomorrow i have the class and Thursday i have an appt to go to that needs to be kept - i've been cancelling it for 2 months.

I could use many days off right now...feeling bogged. The appt is at a place no long open on weekends...so that's why it doesn't make sense to keep cancelling...and i'd rather not make it for the next day off - President's Day later this month on the 19th i think....i'd rather be free of appts then.

Sorry, lots of complaining in this entry...

Trying to eat healthier, my appetite / food choices have changed and not for the better...still working on getting it more under control and for my skin to clear back up - it's not terrible, but it's also not great at all.

Bc of all the guinea pig errands of buying & returning and a little prep...and then stopping by the house party for a little while Saturday eve, i actually FAILED to work out at the gym last night as planned which is pretty stinky for sure!

I am disappointed that i didn't work out bc now it's a challege (once again) to fit in 3 sessions a week - AGAIN. It's upsetting bc i am already getting weaker and it's been really difficult to exercise during the week like i was when i drove to work - AND i have the class on Tuesday so that is one day that exercise is a definite NO - since by the time i get out of that class, i'm ready for bed...

It's not that i was relaxing all weekend on the couch, no, i was running errands particularly with the guinea pigs i had hoped to keep but obv didn't.   Also, i spent time rearranging my apt & moving furniture - Ricky helped me hang a beautiful picture and a mirror. They were seriously in my apt standing against the wall on the floor for like 2 months waiting to be hung up! So glad that chore has been completed. Apt looks SO MUCH better.

It's just upsetting that the gym didn't happen (my body was tired, legs tired) and i'm not about to get sick again just bc of trying to fit in the gym. I am needing TONS of sleep this Winter - like 9 hours a night feels wonderful when i get that. And i just feel little time is left to actually go out / see friends. This is class #3 and i have 9 more weeks till it ends first week April which is wonderful.  Honestly, it's like i should give up the court officer dream, bc it's been SO DIFFICULT to improve my fitness, but i'll keep on trying - as I'd rather do that than this.......but i've got to get myself in MUCH better shape...somehow...by actually working on it...and not skipping out.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

innerpeace on 02/05/2018:
I hate hearing you didn't get the Guinea pigs, what happened? You were looking forward to the little guys! I'm sure you decided what was best. Congrats on not eating the food. WOW I'm glad your people won on the superbowl!

horn_of_plenty on 02/05/2018:
their poop def needs to be cleaned everyday, i had slight allergies (puffy eyes), their fur sheds and i didn't know, they were frightened and needed time to adjust and i'm not home a lot, they weren't cuddly to start at all...the hay was going everywhere...too much & too much work for what i wanted...

bearcountrygg on 02/05/2018:
Well...you had quite a weekend too...and then food problems today.....breathe...try to relax...it's going to be okay!

horn_of_plenty on 02/05/2018:
Thanks lady I even accidentally had gas out loud when I stood up at work :/

Donkey on 02/05/2018:
From what I read, I think you might be a little too hard on yourself. Oh don't get me wrong, I get it when we have one of THOSE days. I can hear your frustration with the gym. And then someone(s) bring in all that food to eat -- why didn't anyone bring in a veggie tray? Or a fruit salad? LOL...

Part of this, I think, is just being winter time. We want to eat more, and more junky food because it has more fat and calories, we want/need more rest to protect us against the stress of the elements, including germs & viruses. Throw in some hormones and you're fighting one heck of a fight against Nature.

So this is temporary. And you will come out of this victorious.

And it's not like you didn't accomplish anything over the weekend. I give you props for going to the party, for decorating your apartment. These are all positives. Keep your chin up!

horn_of_plenty on 02/06/2018:
ty donks...gonna work on being more positive! :-P

Maria7 on 02/06/2018:
I haven't had pizza in a long time...it sounds good. Hope you have a good day.

horn_of_plenty on 02/06/2018:
telling you - totally not worth it!!!!!! just good as you taste it in your mouth, after that, just calories you didn't need.........!

bearcountrygg on 02/06/2018:
But if you hadn't had a taste you would have felt like you may have missed something...now you know that you tried it...it wasn't worth a bigger serving...and you are content...GOOD JOB!

1850-1900 .seriously thinking to lay low on the food and skip gym. Lots of running around and gym is not a good thing for me - seems overdone - I am such a lazy girl. Gym tomorrow instead I think ....yeah.

If legs and body are tired gym is a bad idea - so I'll sleep tonight and gym tomorrow - and tonight maybe cook up a few more things for the week !

Gummies pugs are scared and not being very easy. Pooping tons - decided to return them today-

4pm laundry and gym soon - def bed early

Been running around all weekend so gym I am not so keen on although I will go.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 02/04/2018:
The Gummies Pugs I'm assuming are the guinnea pigs? Maybe just let them be by themselves in a quite place....for a couple of days...they will get used to the sounds and smells and surroundings in a few days....they may be afraid of handling at first too....How big are they? Full grown...or babies...I want to say that ours that was full grown was about a pound or so.

horn_of_plenty on 02/04/2018:
I'm returning bc they shed and make a bigger mess than expected and I don't think it's gonna work out - hamster is enough. Lol my phone writes all kinda weird things huh !?

horn_of_plenty on 02/04/2018:
And if I want to go away overnight, it'll be a hassle - harder than I expected with them as well as messier

Donkey on 02/04/2018:
Aw, I'm sorry the Guinea pigs aren't going to work out for you. I agree, though, especially with your independent lifestyle - even with less traveling - an aloof hammie is sufficient consumption of your time and affection.

horn_of_plenty on 02/05/2018:
like my mom said, i could have used some hindsight on this one....too bad about the guinea pigs...hamsters are good enough for me :)

bearcountrygg on 02/04/2018:
awww...that's too bad.....I will say that they are a lot stinkier than hamsters...

horn_of_plenty on 02/05/2018:
yeah, sad, but i know i made the definitely RIGHT decision :) glad to be able to write back...been very distracted with things all weekend.

Overall 2150, week is around 2100 excellent.

Definite hormonal freaking cravings and slight annoying pains today.

Kombucha 60

Breakfast: chocolate and coffee 100, banana 120

Snack: peanut butter on a roll 350, later a few peanuts

total above 700...

Lunch: salad 100, popchips 60, tofu 100, clementine 50: 350 approx chocolate 200

1250 with clementine...

Dinner before gym: thinking Subway Sandwich & Chips (I am still considering court officer position as something I AM capable of...but i MUST continue to lead a MORE active lifestyle for it to be possible...as i AM doing!)

Snack after gym: TBD...thinking yogurt and cooked cranberries 200

Buying guinea pigs tomorrow.  They are a much more real responsibility than my hamster is.  They like and require some attention as well as fresh veggies everyday. Also they require Timothy Hay (which i order online and will have to do as long as they live) and special food pellets everyday. They are definitely more expensive. I'm using washable fleece as their bedding.

I like that they should be noisy and talk a lot. Hamster doesn't and i wish it did.  I guess i find certain rodents really cute - although there's a debate out weather or not guinea pigs really are rodents...!

The store is around 10 min drive from me - friend suggested driving so that we don't need to bring the pigs back in the cold by using public transportation and he definitely has a point.

I still need to get a few veggies for the pigs - i have cucumbers and celery...i guess i need carrots only and that should be ok for awhile...oh and a leafy veggie. I'll learn to eat what they eat so veggies are bought for both me and them. Bus lets me off at a supermarket, so anytime i lack anything i can go and get it directly on the way home from work.

Their names, the two girls, will be Curl & Flex (exercise names!)

Buying these pigs means i am also making it so i need to be home more and care for them.  I don't forsee much traveling or vacations in the next 5 years, another reason i wanted them. i'd rather be home right now.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

I'm not liking the protein cookies I've tried either.

and they are far from being a "natural" food...best to eat real food - the more i eat natural (not man made) type food, the better my skin gets.

Donkey on 02/01/2018:
Did you have potato-something with dinner?

horn_of_plenty on 02/02/2018:
YES! i had these fries i bought in freezer section. i will not buy again...but they cooked up even BETTER in terms of nice crispy texture than mcdonalds fries! i was impressed. the flavor was "beer batter" (sorry to bring up alcohol!)...and they even tasted like low sodium.

i had to guess the serving size bc it was by ounces. i did once by a food scale, but it's somewhere in my parent's house - and i'm NOT about to order another - and really, just like you learning maintenance, it's better that i do NOT start weighing things...guestimating calories is better....i'm not gonna start using a food scale. i feel it's wayyyy to crazy for me personally to do.

Today I will head to gym after work, looking forward to the new workout & improving over the course of this year. :--)

And for the past two days my mail has been in my closet bc i had a cleaning of my apt that i do like every 4-6 weeks...and i keep forgeting to take the mail back out, to orgainize my tax forms...and OPEN MY work W2 form!

i cannot believe i still haven't opened it! (because if something is out of sight, it's out of mind!) and mail being in closet, forgetting to take it out, i've forgotten to think about the form!

Kombucha 60

Breakfast: banana 120, coffee 20, chocolate 70

Snack: wrap 100, pb 200, sf jelly: 300

Snack: almonds

Lunch: tbd, i brought the veggies only nicely chopped peppers and cucmber in my homemade dressing i rock on this account!...ordering the rest with coworkers - or i can go & buy my own, actually....which i will do i think...yeah, we'll see. i don't need much extra walking this week, but then again, it's not like i'm running. i am thinking wayyyyy too much now. (lately slightly bored at work.)

lunch was chicken stick (chicken on skewer) from a food truck (TONS of food trucks around here like every block has one)! fatty chicken but decent good portioned amount 300, small piece bread not more than 100 cal, some sauce and veggies in dressing too150: 550. clementine 50. chocolate 50

1350 after healthy eating today....

Dinner before gym: again, TBD - or i can have my tuna at home!!!!...big possibility over here.!!!

After gym small snack: NOT ice cream like last night, too much sugar lately...maybe crackers and peanut butter...the ones already made that are packaged in the store.

bearcountrygg on 01/31/2018:
How do you make your dressing?

horn_of_plenty on 02/01/2018:
i took a photo of the recipe this AM so i could write it to you (i'm not in total love with it - i think a bit less paprike would be better) but it's definitely tasty:

3 garlic cloves minced

3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 tbsp red wine vinegar

1/2 lemon juiced

1/2 tsp cumin

1/2 tsp paprika (i think to use half this amount would be better)

1/2 tsp basil

i'm going to look for more recipes, but this is the first one i tried making.

Donkey on 01/31/2018:
Responded to yesterday's entry, check out the comments.

Have fun at the gym!!!!

horn_of_plenty on 02/01/2018:
so with the sweet things, try not to do the "all or nothing" approach. i think it's because in our brains were are chemically affected by the sugar...that it does have an effect.

i'd say a piece of chocolate or sweet fruit or similar thing is best after a meal, when you are already full...or even as a snack a couple hours after lunch at work...just keep it small. i do not think that sweets are "all or nothing" we (including me) have to learn to moderate them somehow. also with the popcorn, that's why i do small servings too...mine is butter so usually 200 cal...

also, i sometimes use the popcorn as the carb for my meal when i'm home and can do what i want and eat what i want rather than work when i try to choose food more for what works and not to bring attention to myself...and not to be eating forever when i want to get out and walk...bc popcorn can take a long time to eat.

gym was good...i am once again realizing that i must do it 3x a week or i'll in no way improve near enough.

hamster will get jealous, yes. He has gotten really relaxed with me especially these couple weeks and sleeps really well as i hold him and pet him. as long as i hold him semi tightly (but def not hurting the guy), he will fall asleep as i pet him. the moment i stop petting him and give him too much space to move, he'll be up and antsy lol. he's a good boy...but doesn't make any sounds or show lots of excitement like guinea pigs will...guinea pigs will DEFINITELY require more attention, i'm ready - it's not like i need to only care for myself...ya know...i'm excited to hear their cute sounds.

it'll be a bit more laundry / cleaning - but no worries - the money i considered it a waste, but it's caring for a living thing which i believe can be rewarding!?

trying to get my friend to go to pet store with me - bc i'm a tad nervous to go alone and bring home two pets...kinda want a friend with me.

bearcountrygg on 02/01/2018:
The dressing recipe sounds really good...I'll need to pick up some red wine vinegar for it. Your hamster sounds like a baby ...sleeping as long as you are holding it...then awake the minute you try to lay it in bed...LOL

horn_of_plenty on 02/02/2018:
EXACTLY this way, yes.

Happy to give myself a sorta "major" new responsibility with the pigs. they'll need much more care - guinea pigs require some attention as well as fresh veggies, one cup, every day. they are a bit more expensive as a pet, but i feel it'll give me some extra happiness to have them which is the reason i am getting them.

Weight: 112.0

4 day 2085.

Home: tea and honey 50

Breakfast: wrap with salami and mustard 200, banana 150, tea, chocolate 150:

1250 after lunch...

there's a bday, and i'm actually going to have a slice of cake...mouth is WATERING for it! had a LARGE slice...it was extra wet somehow!? icing was goood. at least 500 cal i'd say?

1750 after the cake....but you know, it wasn't satisfying really....so there we go again...carbs are so quickly ingested and then....was it worth it!?

2050 after chickpeas small dinner at class

Today was an indulgence 2350 total

(I had too much free time today....so here come a pair of guinea pigs soon....)...i just don't wanna wait to get them. I'm happy when home and i cannot wait to hear these little guys' sounds everyday!!!! They are known for their sounds, unlike my hamster which doesn't make sounds often...he's relatively quiet and i don't even hear him daily).

Preparing to buy two guinea pigs (they don't like living alone) and all the necessary prep work also. I'm sick of waiting to get them for when time is right.  If I need to hand them over to anyone bc of anything down the road in the next 7 years, i'll figure it out then.

I'm exciting to hear their sounds and come home to them and wake up to these cute creatures. I hope to buy them sometime in FEBRUARY :) As soon as I get all the materials.  Guinea pigs are usually talkative and make a variety of different sounds.

I have spent my $$$ and ordered basically everything i need for the two Guinea Pigs...i can probably get them either this or next weekend.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

happy-1 on 01/30/2018:
My goodness! You are going to have a lot of guinea pigs!!!!

horn_of_plenty on 01/30/2018:

bearcountrygg on 01/30/2018:
We had one once...he was pretty cute...but he would bite us......pick wisely...

horn_of_plenty on 01/30/2018:
I'll try my darndest to create a good relationship with the two piggies and myself :)

horn_of_plenty on 01/30/2018:

bearcountrygg on 01/30/2018:
I want to say about 4 yrs...but I don't know how old he was when we got him

Sweet treats are almost always a disappointment for me lately. Before the diet, I could eat anything anytime, so the quality of each individual item really wasn't all that important. Now that I have a set number of calories, I expect more out of my food and often find that the thing I was desiring wasn't actually all that good tasting.

I saved up some calories a few days ago for my daughter's birthday party. Was craving a delicious looking cupcake with icing and chocolate shavings. Took one bite and was immediately let-down. The cake was ok, the icing consistency was too hard, the flavor was ok. Stopped and thought about throwing the rest away, but ended up finishing it anyways (hoping the next bite or two would be better). There wasn't anything wrong with the cupcake, but it definitely wasn't worth the calories it cost.

horn_of_plenty on 01/30/2018:
Same with me - the sweet treats are only good the few minutes they are in your mouth - the cake today was total letdown - I mostly agree with you - I actually prefer small bites of treats like my small chocolates and 100 calorie granola bars - for same reason you say that don't take all your calories and also the darn taste you only need the two bites and not a huge thing and I have bad portion control and emotions and all - wanting and eating the cake did absolutely nothing for me - you are right - id be better with a roasted sweet potato

innerpeace on 01/31/2018:
Nope, nope, nope! No rodent like pets for me. I hope you enjoy them though! Male and female - won't they mate? and then you will have more pigs soon.

horn_of_plenty on 01/31/2018:
i have a hammy (hamster now) and i'm getting two "cavvies" or guinea pigs in a separate cage together. not with the hamster bc they will not do well together.

but the 2 guineas will be SAME sex so that they do not mate and i prefer to get females bc i hear they may be a little calmer than two males. and perhaps smell less.

i also learned that female hamsters smell MORE than male ones, and i have a male so i guess i got lucky - my hamster doesn't smell at all and i hope this will be the case with the guinea pigs as long as i clean up well weekly like i do with the hamster...

so boy hamster will not be around the 2 female guinea pigs.

Donkey on 01/31/2018:
Won't Hammy be jealous? Anyway, that's so cool. :-)

PS I hear you on the sweet things, and not that I don't disagree, but why can't I be logical in my choices then? That is to say, Why can't I think, "This isn't really worth it" and not have cake?

New exercise plan = hard as F*ck!  I think i can keep attempting and get better, but right now i'd fail it if you were testing me. I'll be practicing it for ONE YEAR until 2019...in January 2019, or december into it, i'll reconvene and assess if it's doable or not to be a court officer.

one of the exercises, called a split squat, i could only do FOUR reps in each set...not the recommended 8-12 reps. so i'm really under par. I also need to improve my situps to triple what i can do now...like be able to do 38, not my current 15. LOL...on pushups, i'm practically there at the best rating - best rating means you can do 30 pushups or more, i can do this as long as i maintain my current level of training. because i made it my best exercise (pushups) as i excelled quite fast in them over 10 years ago and at one point i could do 70 lousy form ones all at once though - which is quite impressive. no reason why i can't also make situps better, right!?  Now my top number is right around 30 pushups, but i need to make the last ones stronger and keep good form - just needs continued practice, but not really any extra effort, thankfully!

i did practice setting up the cones for the running aspects of the fitness test on sunday, i hope to practice right now on weekends that are at least 40 degrees outside.  There are two running portions.

if i can be a court officer, i will do it despite salary cut because i feel it's a simpler job with less "reasoning / deciphering / figuring out" and more "action" duties...i am going to make the attempt to get it, that's all i can do. ONE YEAR, if my progress is not substantial, i'll have to reconsider my goal of being a court officer.  Also, i want to do it for job stability as i feel once i get into academy, the job is mine to keep as long as i follow directions.

There was a time in my ADULT life i couldn't do ONE standard pushup, had to start on my news with "girl" pushups. There was a time I could only lift 10 lb weights for bicep curls (i've gotten up to at my best 35lb bicep curls and now not practicing them bc the court officer guide doesn't recommend it, only to train triceps).

There was a time after injury that  i couldn't run or even walk without pain - and i taught myself to run again after an injury.

So perhaps the "impossible" is seriously STILL POSSIBLE. I'm just not giving up yet. I just can't just yet. Before doing more running, i'm just following the legs exercises (i believe it's just 4 of them) that are advised by the court officer training guide.

Seems once we have jobs, it's hard to become really good at anything else...the effort for me is just to maintain a proper practice schedule despite some distractions...

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

its very slow, but nothing to worry about...

but it's so slow, that i end up worrying...

i'm gonna work on slowing my mind. lately i wake up with dreams about what i'm worrying about. not scary, but, gotta work on relaxing.

graindart on 01/29/2018:
My job pays well, has flexible hours, and allows me to work from home. On paper, I should love it. In reality I've mildly hated it since about year 2 or 3. I really didn't intend to still be doing this job 16 years later. It pays well and it doesn't take any real effort to just "continue" with what I know. Of course I'd much rather be doing something that I enjoy, but there's not really any other job / career that I can name that I'd actually enjoy doing. I've thought about just taking a week or two off and sit around brainstorming what I really would enjoy doing for a job. If I were to do that, I envision myself getting bored and falling back to watching TV or surfing the internet, thereby just wasting a week or two without pay. So while your job change goal is a little ways away, I envy the fact that you have something picked out that you'd like to do.

horn_of_plenty on 01/29/2018:
And hopefully I can advance in it I feel it works out - it starts low for NYC standards around 50k which will mean little savings for a few years. Hopefully it can all work out...

For now it means I need to push myslef to make sure I am physically practicing the exercises - it still excites me that I can do it I feel I work on it.

Donkey on 01/29/2018:
I think that's a good idea to train for a year and then re-assess. I didn't know what a split squat was, so I Googled it. Oh my, my knees hurt just watching the video. With your ankle/leg issues, please train wisely. I'm cheering you on, though. You got this!

horn_of_plenty on 01/30/2018:
yes, i'm trying to hold back...as my butt has been sore since yesterday.

the new exercises are actually way different than before, no biceps - but extra triceps and it's just totally different where i'm using much lower weights because i do not have the strength yet to do these new exercises like the ones i used to do before. It's a good change...but i must remember to also rest and not go to crazy.

yeah, with the split squat its one knee to the ground - really different.

happy-1 on 01/30/2018:
As a fellow anxiety/depression sufferer I feel you. You impress me daily.

horn_of_plenty on 01/30/2018:
thank you...lately i am more anxious than normal but moving on.

I seriously had no idea i impress you, thank you :)

I'm just going to keep on and think positive that the exercises and focus i maintain will WORK for me this time around.

Anxiety sure can complicate things...but i guess we recognize it and work to move past it..

bearcountrygg on 01/30/2018:
Meditation...it works!
