No Indian restaurants or stores around here....they sound good.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/07/2020:
lately, i'm just doing takeout from one restaurant that i like in NYC. the rest of the places are around a 20 min to a half hour from my apt and are delicious too...but in a totally different neighborhood from mine. maybe i'll go to one next weekend or the weekend after...to practice my driving!

I have a jar of pesto here but I don't know what to pair it with...I was thinking pasta but i see chicken on your post....do you put it on that? Either way..I've been a little hesitant because it has walnuts in it...( was very allergic years ago...but haven't tested that too much in years)....

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
i took two big spoons of it and mixed it up with the chicken and the cabbage. i wanted something "hearty" and to add some fat to the cooked cabbage and low fat chicken, to make the meal more satisfying with healthy fats....yes i just topped the meal with it.

bearcountrygg on 01/05/2020:
That is good to know...I've been wondering how to use it...it's a small jar and I think it sounds like it would be really good on chicken....Thanks HOP!! You are such a creative cook!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
Thanks BCGG...i get ideas from you and our other fabulous members here :) it really makes a difference. my can of it is quite thick and very oily, so i only use a little, but it is very good. no nuts in mine.

Donkey on 01/05/2020:
Most pesto has pine nuts, not walnuts. However, I'm not sure that's enough reason to take a chance on an allergic reaction!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/06/2020:
pesto is sooo good...and healthy. just rich!

Oh cooked cabbage sounds delicious! I am planning to bake eggplant today - and finally get around to stewing my cranberries! (I'm so far behind...)

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
your cranberry recipe really changed things for me for the better! i now use a whole cup of erythritol or similar sweetener and a cup of water as well as enough gelatin to make it into a gel. it's nice and big and lasts longer than when i just cooked the cranberries and added liquid stevia! thanks!

bearcountrygg on 01/04/2020:
Oatmeal is sounding good to me lately too......I have always had so much success when i eat cravings....my system is quite accurate with cravings and they always seem to be sated when I eat that. Your fish sounded so good the other day...and now that I've had fish for a couple of days I've had enough for awhile...need to get on the oatmeal now!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
yeah, i enjoy fish mostly just salmon with my parents. i may start baking more meat / fish again, but first i need to finish the prepared stuff i have in my fridge - purdue chicken that is already cooked and deli meats...oatmeal i really enjoy in the morning hours.

happy-1 on 01/04/2020:

Last night time got the best of me and i didn't work out...so i did it early this morning, woke up earlier to get it in today because there was no good reason to just skip a workout this week :) I was 5 min late to work, but not really because i worked out in the morning, just because i wasn't keeping time as a priority and need to leave earlier in general now from my apt. So the positive is i did work out and the questionable (as Happy wrote) is to work on my timing in the morning better :)

Progress as of today: 1 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 01/03/2020:
It's funny how leaving even a very few minutes differently from your usual can make a huge difference in the amount of time it takes to get to work..i found that out when i left 10 minutes later than usual and I literally could not pull out of a road because of the constant stream of traffic....( no light or stop signs there)....it seemed like I had to sit there and wait forever.....until traffic got lighter.....I made sure after that that I always left at my usual time.....and turning onto the main road was possible.....

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/03/2020:
EXACTLY..those few minutes make the difference. If i don't cut it close like i do, i'd be on time every day ;) hahaha. your story was a good read!

legcramps on 01/03/2020:
I didn't work out yesterday either, hoping to get at it tonight after i'm done coaching!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/04/2020:
i hope you got it in!!!!!

Hugs. One foot in front of the other.

Donkey on 01/04/2020:
Funny that you write about this, because I've been re-evaluating (mentally) my morning bike ride, and the time that I spend in the morning on the bike. Especially since I've been struggling with getting enough sleep lately - I've been running behind in the mornings lately... It's changed everything.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2020:
yeah, i need to get up / get ready in a more timely manner too. being late by even 5 min is not a good practice !...my weights routine is so short that now it's very doable even in the mornings, but i prefer it at night for now.

and i'll do some pushups/ maybe situps (skipped situps yesterday!) today too :)

Tuna....it's so good! i have just gotten into it, realizing it's quite a light food even if made with mayo it's still very good.

Just going to mention the meditation tape that you are listening too...I actually think that your subconscious mind is hearing it (osmosis)......It's okay that you are so relaxed that you are falling asleep...that is a built in reaction to them I believe. The subliminal messages and hypnotic calming soft words in them do lull you to sleep and it's ok....but never listen to them in the car....nobody needs that.....do you hear talking or is it subliminal?

horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2020:
There is some talking that I hear and some is just music....yes I won’t listen while driving !! Lol

happy-1 on 12/31/2019:
Hugs! A great start to a new year!

horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2019:
Happy new year Happy !

Donkey on 12/31/2019:
I agree with Happy - what a day!

I'm a little behind in commenting, but I wanted to let you know that I'm starting to use a free meditation app called Insight Timer. It's short little meditation sessions, at least from what I can tell so far.

horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2019:
I actually finished a meditation today!! The ones I was listening to right before bed were 10 minutes long. So was this one but I listened again while lying down but around 5pm this evening. Lots of sounds / not a lot of speech in the meditation - maybe tonight or tomorrow I’ll try another part of the app - there’s so many options but I have only delved into the 10 minute daily ones right now. Yours sounds good - even better it is free

Donkey on 01/01/2020:
I figured "free" was good for where I'm at right now. I want to attend some meditation classes (sessions?) this year. A lot of yoga studios have meditation workshops. In fact, the library where I do Library Yoga is offering a seminar in March - for free! I'd like to find something sooner than that, of course, but that's cool!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/02/2020:
that's wonderful with all the offerings you have by you for both yoga and meditation. on tv this morning, they were talking about yoga at a YMCA and how beneficial it is!

Tonight when i get home i plan to feed guinea pigs and have a quick snack, then call my friend as i exercise on bike for 30 min, then have my own dinner and practice medition app - let me tell you, every time i try it so far, i fall asleep since i do it in bed, right before i fall asleep lol. i plan to keep doing it that way for now..

Progress as of today: 1 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 12/30/2019:
Meditation tapes can work like that...I used to listen to hypnosis type Cd's....and falling asleep was mainly expected. Once I played a CD of that type with a toddler within hearing and she stopped eating.....( that was back in the days when i thought weighing 130 was not acceptable....) :( (crazy).....anyway...we finally figured out that the CD had persuaded her not to eat and while it proved that subliminal suggestions work.....I would have liked to actually read or know EXACTLY what it was programming us with......I tossed that CD out because it scared me......BUT...Now I have no problem listening to them as long as I can hear or read what they are saying.........

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/31/2019:
LOL...WHAT AN EXPERIENCE you had with the meditation CD. it doesn't help that i'm using mine when i go to bed. still, i'm not sure i have listened to mine yet (tried it like 6 times) without falling asleep. i will try again, today, in the early afternoon...

Donkey on 12/31/2019:
I've tried to listen to ambient music for relaxation while at work (on YouTube) but it doesn't work. I still get stressed out. Or I find the music itself to be irritating.

horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2020:
Yes I’m not sure how I feel yet about the music ....there’s a lot more to the Calm app for me to check out :)

horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2019:

happy-1 on 12/29/2019:
Indian food... yum. Maybe I need to track that down.

horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2019:
You do :-) the veggies are amazing !

Donkey on 12/30/2019:
That's wonderful that your dad is helping you. I still suffer PTSD from related car accidents. I've had to do most of the work on my own.

I confess that lately, I'm wondering if I should go back into therapy to try to work in this some more.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/30/2019:
