(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 113.5

7:30am Breakfast wrap 60, avocado 160, egg 100...320, coffee extra milk 100, other coffee 50 500 (i was here early so was having extra coffee to keep my mouth busy/stomach busy)

9am Snacks from coworker big piece of turkey bacon 150? small pieces of home fries - Potato 50 700

...skin still very broken out but dinner bean wrap last night was excellent ! Thinking to have that before gym today

11am Almonds approx 50

1:30pm Huge lunch but healthy ingredients, just large portions including rice which was pretty tasty. also a bit oily lunch. it was indian last of the tandoori chicken drumsticks 150 tops, basmati rice with peas 250?, okra (very oily but so good) small serving 100-150, tons of veggies also some oil 200, some salad with some saag 100-150?...total lunch: 800-850.

The rest of the day will be in smaller portions is my plan. bar before the gym or a cookie is my plan...it hasn't been a weightloss week but the food choices have improved overall and i hope my skin will clear more...also this weekend i'll be active and looking to make good choices...i bought more indian to bring home for the weekend.

I will leave on time today - yes...not making up any more time for the day my bus was late ! It's too stressful and nobody is noticing and it makes me have a bigger appetite the later i stay and later i get to gym, and I wanna jog tomorrow which means i want to be out on time tomorrow too and everyone will be leaving before me tomorrow - so it will be easy to leave on time and not stay late!....today i'm planning to go straight to gym without having to stop home as my gym clothes are already in my car and i'm glad i am starting to put them there the night before now! doing good with that.

At work a nice half hour earlier today & that made people notice :)

Over the weekend i should be able to make better food choices - i'd like lower calories next week, today i weighed 116 on scale...lately it's high again....and i feel the fat on my lower stomach area coming back....time to watch it.

1650 after nuts And 2 bars. Total today is 2050. Tomorrow's a new day! 6day = 2150

I never made it to the gym & i'll be taking off the gym until Sunday.  I will totally jog tomorrow after work - and will leave early at 4pm so i have some energy for the jog!  Everyone will leave before me, so, shouldn't be a big deal tomorrow and i can say i worked late the day before.

i did work 11 hours though and made up enough time not to stay late or work any extra next week when i still have a class i leave early for - the time has all been made up :)

Progress as of today: 0.5 lbs lost so far, only 3.5 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 06/14/2018:
Good reminder...I have an avocado in the fridge.

horn_of_plenty on 06/14/2018:
trying to clear my skin, avocado helps. i also crave it...it's satisfying...and it has potassium...i believe. which i don't get from bananas anymore bc i was trying to lay off them as they spike my blood sugar and get me craving more sweets...it's been good to stop the bananas :) i believe avocados are just as high....and i think dates...and i thought apricots...gotta look that up to..

(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 113.5

kombucha 100

wrap 100, egg 80, half avocacdo 170 salt and pepper, coffee 50  400.

500...healthy. i only have half container of whip cream left and planning to not buy it anymore after i finish it. :)

snack: apple / almonds 200 skipped bc doing work with one of my bosses :)

lunch: indian and sald: drumpstick 100, salad greens 50 so good fancier greens, curry cauliflower/potato 200 tops, also some saag (lots of indian this week and LOVING it) 200 at most. total here: 600 tops.

snack: might go for cake and decaf coffee :) yes - and someone gave me an expresso with sugar :( and it tasted like candy! so good! 400 at most?

dinner: i may finish the whipped cream with ice cream - so sue me! will try for no sugar: apple 100 (healthy!), 2 egg whites 50, wrap 60, half avocado 160, chick peas130: 500, decided on chips, 200 - craved the carbs / salt. it's totally fine bc i am happier with this dinner than all the ice cream and whipped cream i've been having.

overall 2200, decent.

bed early..

someone's bday is tomorrow and i hear it's going to be an amazing cake today...i may try to have it and work it into my day & not have such a low day just to enjoy the cake...big possibility. i know i'll at least be tasting the cake..and maybe follow the tastes up with coffee :)

my skin has one really deep breakout...because of my horrible eating habits so the inflammation hasn't gone down a lot ...but it's not getting worse thankfully.

i was late today bc they closed a road!!!!! the bus had to take a longer detour to the train. i was late by 20 min. i have to make it up friday :( but people have said don't worry...so i may just not worry and only make up the time for the class..last night i made up half hour and tomorrow a half hour to make up for leaving an hour early today...ugh! i will make today's time up on friday , i think. i have to make up 20 min for today...UGH!

Progress as of today: 0.5 lbs lost so far, only 3.5 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 06/13/2018:
I don't think anyone will sue you....LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 06/13/2018:
lol, hope not ;)....bc i aint got no money to give hahahaha

happy-1 on 06/13/2018:
I hate that feeling of being off schedule. It distracts me all day. Take a few breaths, put on headphones, close your eyes and listen to this vid. It will re-center you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfcAVejslrU

Horn_of_plenty on 06/13/2018:
thank you...luckily, i forgot about being late...i will try not to even make it up...since others really don't stay late to make it up, i'm gonna try to leave on my time friday...because i want to jog and putting things off just gets me hungrier and further from goal and i was told not to worry so much to make it up...it's only 20 minutes so we'll see...

Donkey on 06/13/2018:
I commented on the cool whip/jello in one of my replies to one of your comments in MY diary. (That's not too confusing, is it? LOL) Anyway, so maybe you might want to read, but the bottom line suggestion is to try switching to Fage Greek yogurt instead. I think you'll find it more satisfying and better for you.

Just a thought - who knows, you might try it and hate the taste or texture. Right?

horn_of_plenty on 06/14/2018:
no not confusing...i know that my comment was a bit centered around myself haha that long comment i made. i debated copying and pasting some of the comment into my own diary entry, but then left it on yours bc i figured you might have something to say on the issue :)

i do love fage greek yogurt, it would be a good switch once i finish what i have at home.

Careful with the indian food especially since you seem to pick the punjabi and pakistani places from your logs... the punjabi folks have the highest incidence of heart attack, stroke and type 2 diabetes. When people talk about heathy indian food they mean south indian, marathi and gujurati

horn_of_plenty on 06/12/2018:
how do you know so much!? wow! ty...i'll google this stuff.

horn_of_plenty on 06/12/2018:
well marathi looks vegetarian...and lots of beans.

but when i google food that's gujurati, it didn't look very healthy...

horn_of_plenty on 06/12/2018:
and yes, it seems i'm choosing punjabi / pakistani type food :)

gujurati looks like a lot of fried / grains / bread / dessert.

but yes, the marathi looks very healthy.

happy-1 on 06/12/2018:
Gujurati is all vegetarian. They always have something fried to add to the meal because everything else is stewed vegetables. Usually not even cheese or yogurt. Just skip the fried recipes.

Marathi is amazing.. Totally different than the greasy trans fat laden pakistani and punjabi places. They have wonderful salads and things for summer. Harder to find in a restaraunt. Look for yoga centers having parties and cooking classes. Bitter melon is an acquired taste but has amazing fat burning and cancer fighting properties and the mathi recipes for it are actually tasty. Here is an easy protein packed salad. I like to add cut up orange for the salad. The secret to mung bean sprouts is a drop of grapefruit extract every time you change the water to get all the bacteria off and have no black spots or bitterness.

I've worked insoftware forever. Tons of Indian people in that industry.

happy-1 on 06/12/2018:
South indian has lots of fermented bean recipes that take the place of bread and are protein and probiotic powerhouses. Plus they use coconut cream and oil instead of dairy.

Donkey on 06/12/2018:
All this Indian food talk is makin' me hungry! :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 06/13/2018:
i do think you'd like it :)

bearcountrygg on 06/13/2018:
Indian food is delish...I love naan...and have the minis here right now...I think That is indian…..of course...I would love the bread...LOL

horn_of_plenty on 06/13/2018:
Lol I make sure to try to not take the bread or rice bc they are so delicious and sometimes I use my own bread / wrap / crackers to eat better calories haha yes they have the best bread !

i promise myself that i'm laying off ice cream and sf jello and cool whip during the weeknights this week so that my face can clear up...instead, i plan on bars after the gym and indian food on rice cakes during nights i eat a full dinner at home.

tonight is bed early, and cleaning hamster cage. no other plans. not really happy about the weekend...i just spent it driving around to hair appt, bridal shower, dinner with family...i felt like i was just going thru motions but not getting anything out of it.

workout was good last night. and jog/walk was good on Saturday.

I am planning to do a jog during the week, but def not tonight as i'm beat and want to go to bed early. Wednesday is the class....I guess Friday i'll jog. no other time and i'm not skipping my gym sessions.

horn_of_plenty on 06/11/2018:
YES...always..just a manic monday !

i'll be happy to be back home tonight...more and more i'm starting to want to push myself after work more...once this class is done i'll be good :)

bearcountrygg on 06/11/2018:
Good eating plan...…...and the weekend that wasn't much fun….glad that is over for you....unfortunately there will be a lot of that stuff in life...especially when it comes to family expectations...as I got older.....I started sending checks instead of going....LOL

horn_of_plenty on 06/11/2018:
yeah, i'm not one for acting or being fake or being extra social....only with closer friends.

but i went, ate some tasty stuff despite it being stressful to eat so much and all that, it turned out well at least...and at least i went to the gym and stuck with my goal to go straight from the party which made me happy bc i was actually out of the gym around 7pm so it wasn't a late night last night...

i just didn't know many people there and the people i do know i wasn't so close with. so it's awkward....like you said.

one great thing....the bride at the bridal shower was very nice to everyone there...and she was thankful for me being there...she actually thanked me. great personality she has...and for that, i'm thankful i went bc she was so appreciative and spoke to everyone there. now that's a happy lady.

Donkey on 06/11/2018:
I'm glad to hear that you got your run in over the weekend. If your Monday was anything like mine, take tonight off to just chill --- maybe sleep early. Ahh, there's an idea I think I'll take my own advice on ;-)

Bridal shower was boring as *uck.

My sister got mad bc I asked her to repeat a something she was talking about. I am not close with anyone here .... I have nothing to say to anyone ... I ate a lot but it was good tasty food but I am socially done .....just not enjoying this weekend or even my hair really 1500 bite of cake and coffee ;)

was going to make a wrap after gym but i'll have that in the morning instead...and stick with my guilty pleasure tonight.

jello 20, whipped cream 250, ice cream 100, and had a drink before at gym 25 cal. total around 400. good.

1900 today, excellent.

2 day is good again: 2050.

bearcountrygg on 06/10/2018:
Well...that's a bummer...at least the food was good!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/10/2018:
yes :)

Donkey on 06/10/2018:
Aw, well maybe you'll enjoy your hair more tomorrow. Just too much in one day, ya know?

Glad to see you had cake at least, right? So it wasn't a total bust, LOL....

I'm sorry the shower wasn't a better time. Were there games? Are you invited to the wedding too?

horn_of_plenty on 06/11/2018:
yeah, too much...

yes, there was def cake!

yes, a couple games.. and DEF yes for wedding...i was hoping to be invited with a guest but just me. so it will be more of the same :( i would have brought ricky and would have been able to chill with him the whole time, oh well.

happy-1 on 06/11/2018:
I have never ever ever enjoyed a bridal shower, baby shower, wedding, or other related event. Ever. I feel like a space alien watching other women enjoying themselves. If I ever have a bridal shower there had better be wings, whiskey, and water sports.

I did once go to an all-women software development event. I really liked that. It gave me a glimpse into why other women think this **** is "fun".

horn_of_plenty on 06/11/2018:
that's exactly how i felt yesterday, like a space alien watching other women enjoy themselves!!!!!!!!

me figuring out the day...

and go jogging after this and cutting it close time wise I should have jogged this morning possibly instead of laundry but hopefully I'll fit it all in .....salon is far from me around 40 mom with traffic so it's eating up time and driving to my parents need to be there 5:45 and takes 45 minutes..... I think I'll be done here at 2-2:30 so home by 3:30 and jog until 4:30 change fast and drive home for dinner - prob a waste to dye my hair but it is what it is..

Progress as of today: 0.5 lbs lost so far, only 3.5 lbs to go!

Maria7 on 06/09/2018:
Hope you have a good day out jogging. Enjoy the outdoors.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/09/2018:
ty....i am going out soon!

Donkey on 06/09/2018:
When you say whipped cream, do you mean Cool Whip or real dairy whipped cream?

(Did I ask you this already? LOL...)

Go for the dye job! I never thought about hair having to be long enough for highlights... I don't think of it as a waste -- it's nice to change it up a little :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 06/09/2018:
yeah, i really wanted the highlights, but this is fun too...although, i think she may have not done a great job after looking at it a second time around the hairline it's slightly darker but looks good anyways...overall, for the price, i'm satisfied.

you did ask....i eat cool whip either light or more favorably the sugar free one. 20 cals per serving and like 25 servings for full a container is the 500 cal - generally i'll eat either half a container 250 or 1/4 container 125 cals. i got into the habit this year, never really bought cool whip in the past.

bearcountrygg on 06/09/2018:
Never heard of saag…………...

Horn_of_plenty on 06/09/2018:
It's the indian version of creamed spinach but wayyyyy better and with much more flavor.

bearcountrygg on 06/09/2018:
oh...sounds good!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/09/2018:
it's delicious, but you have to be open minded in enjoying Indian food which is full of flavor...nothing bland. that's why i have learned to love the Indian flavorings...they make veggies POP! you know!? if you enjoy veggies as much as i do, you want variety!

happy-1 on 06/11/2018:
I never found cool whip as satisfying as actual whipped cream I do from heavy cream in a frozen bowl.

horn_of_plenty on 06/11/2018:
eating half a tub is starting to get boring, thankfully.

happy-1 on 06/11/2018:
Oh man I used to make saag paneer at home all the time. But the fat content at restaraunts is a heart attack waiting to happen. Diy at home with coconut oil instead of palm oil, greek yogurt instead of cream, and swap kidney beans for the cheese to make it tasty AND healthy.

horn_of_plenty on 06/11/2018:
good ideas...for sure very insightful.

horn_of_plenty - Friday Jun 08, 2018
(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)

i admit i'm socially awkward in the workplace ...i love my personal space and quiet time...and in this room with 4 people (5 including me and sometimes 6) it's not like that at all.  lots of dumb chatter about nothing and really sometimes it gets annoying to me a little bit (not a major annoyance). i am just so not a major people person or need to socially be entertained..so it's sorta stressful to sit surrounded by talking and be anxious (just slightly) from it as i work. also someone i know has headphones on her neck and i hear the music (clubbing music and also pop) and it's truly hard for me to work this way...

still i'm happy....just admitting my social akwardness.

home: kombucha 50

Work: coffee 50, piece of amazing tiramisu cake best cake i had in over a year i think! from italian bakery coworker brought it bc she's a grandmother again! and a cookie it came with also (lady finger?) 400, fruit later on 50.

snack: almonds?

lunch: probably my breakfast sandwich which was wrap 60, half avocado 160, turkey deli meat 50, veggies 100. 400 apple 100

snack: coffee and cookie 120

before gym: tbd i think just caffeine and sweet bar of some sort 100-200 half a small egg and avocado wrap i think with some chicken? from coworker 300 and strawberries 50. some caffeine. and a bite of chocolate to taste a sample on way home from manhattan. 50

1700 approx

after gym: maybe just a protein cookie. not sure, maybe indian on rice cake with tofu. getting sick of so much sugar and sweet things i think. 400

my face is very broken out due to lots of caffeine, too much light whipped cream, too much light ice cream, and being constipated for a few days this week. ... it's clearing up bc i'm using honey on my face which is good for antibacterial properties it has! but my face would be clear if i'd cut down on the jello, etc. i do plan to take a break this weekend from at least the whipped cream, ice cream & jello. i'll also refrain from energy drinks, except i will consume coffee.

truth is, i need better meals again at night and evening after work. def too much whipped cream, ice cream.  i bought saag the indian spinach dish which is delicious to eat over rice crackers this weekend. that is a healthy option and nutritious. i'm planning to buy Indian often as it's on my way home. It has healthy oils, healthy veggies...even the cauliflower mixed with potato is good for me. potato in general is so healthy and good for digestion. i was too tired this week partially from ****ty nutrition. so i'm at least knowing in my mind i must strive to change some things still.

but overall, i'm happy.

and when i eat avocado, things like my skin improve greatly too.

i'm happy...have a good day, all.

Progress as of today: 0.5 lbs lost so far, only 3.5 lbs to go!

innerpeace on 06/08/2018:
To be perfectly honest, you can eat some weird food...maybe I should try it LOL. I have ate Indian foods several times and there are a few spices I'd rather not eat again.

I'm glad you stick with your goals, you are a true inspiration.

horn_of_plenty on 06/08/2018:
sometimes my diet is out there yes...i honestly do go mostly by calories and try to include protein and fat and carbs. sometimes it's too much sugar bc of the light ice cream, bars, etc...but yeah, i try to stick with my goals.

being in NYC, there's so many food options and light ones and ways to balance calories, with all my knowldge and the fact i live alone, it's not a problem to eat to maintain my weight...though my choices aren't the healthiest i know.

we have great indian food and the spices are strong yes, as a kid i hated strong flavors, now i love it.

horn_of_plenty on 06/08/2018:
thank you for the kind words!

horn_of_plenty on 06/08/2018:
oh and eating weird is easier for me as i live alone ;) nobody is affected except myself.

happy-1 on 06/08/2018:
I wear great big headphones even when i'm not listening to people so people don't bug me when I am working. Developers sometimes use folded paper signs (a sheet of paper folded into a pyramid) to say whether they are too busy to be disturbed. But I feel you on the headphone pop noise... where you almost here the music but mostly you hear the electronic vibration... that makes me crazy. I try to be in the office early before people are there to get stuff done and then leave early.

happy-1 on 06/08/2018:
I have blocked pores toi. Good reminder to use my face cream at night.

horn_of_plenty on 06/08/2018:
Honey really helps after a shower to use it...wash it off lightly after a shower and it's ok if it remains in your pores bc it continues to be antibacterial.

my face is a mess due to hormones, the junk i've been eating, caffeine...ugh.

bearcountrygg on 06/08/2018:
I would find the chatter distracting...…..

Horn_of_plenty on 06/08/2018:
i don't like it because it's not my cup of tea socially. i was asked to make a joke today and i don't have any jokes so i told the project manager (he's only 29!) i'd have a joke for him on Monday...lol...i don't like the unstructured type of job environment.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/08/2018:
but they are nice and i like the woman i am working directly for....so this is great overall. i don't expect most people to be like me - i've always been in the minority ;)

Donkey on 06/08/2018:
Queen Bee is a chatterbox too. Drives me nuts and she's two "rooms" down. I feel your pain.

I liked Happy's idea of wearing headphones just so people leave you alone, LOL...

horn_of_plenty on 06/09/2018:
Headphones wouldn't be good bc I can't hear anything of importance at all .... every once in awhile there's things worth hearing ;)

Donkey on 06/09/2018:
Sometimes I become all too aware that I don't fit in with other social butterflies. I can't change who I am, but sometimes that awareness is a bit painful. I completely get what you wrote - how you're happy, but just putting it out there that, hey, this ain't me.

horn_of_plenty on 06/09/2018:
Exactly - and I do admit it's a bit much socialization For me each day but it is what it is :) gotta go to work lol

bearcountrygg on 06/09/2018:

Yeah get the most complicated one with the most ways to push and pull you can afford. Ever since last year I am terrified of the chiropractor and haven't felt a need to go back since I started using that. Looking around for a small one to keep in the car

Thank you -- enjoying veggies again :)

How was the class?

I had to LOL when I read your egg calorie count - because the yolk fell on the floor. Oh my how many times have I been saved extra calories because of a spill or accident like that?

horn_of_plenty on 06/07/2018:
class is good because it ends earlier...is a half hour shorter...

and for the 1.5 hours that i sit there, the teacher is GREAT, so interesting, has so much knowledge to share, the class is somewhat like a debate class about politics and current events which is INTERESTING and good for almost anyone to be part of. Overall, the content and structure of the class is PERFECT for me. I'm glad to use my free time there. I try to participate a bit in the class...to expand my mind. I'm not a big talker, but i do speak up a little bit rather than not at all like most people. for i have a masters degree, i've been in many classes, i will use the class to my advantage - to expand my horizons and my mind! it's a gift.

it's also just a commitment, no exercise extra or anything else. but it's worth it, to attend a good class especially due to who is teaching. it's thanks to a very smart, engaging, socialable teacher. we are all lucky in this class. he's not boring.

horn_of_plenty on 06/07/2018:
lol with carpeted floors and just the egg yoke popping out and rolling on that carpet....def no good way to clean that off without making a bigger mess haha.... :) great calorie savings!...but today i will get the nutrition in of the yoke ;)

bearcountrygg on 06/07/2018:
Hope the yolk didn't rollunder the fridge!!!!!!! That happens here!!!

Fresh apricots or dried?

horn_of_plenty on 06/05/2018:
only fresh....dried is candy to me.

bearcountrygg on 06/05/2018:
fresh are zero ww points and dried have points for that same reason. Both are good though.

horn_of_plenty on 06/05/2018:
bc the dried are far less filling bc they are dried up - no water. so like a half cup of dried ones takes up a half cup but originally they were each a half cup! but like 5 apricots dried fit in a half cup size...also, sugar might be sometimes added to dried ones.

half cup is less filling, takes up far less space for more calories...as water has been sucked out so they will be more concentrated with sugar and less filling...all dried things especially fruit is this way.

Maria7 on 06/05/2018:
Hope you are having a good day. :-)

horn_of_plenty on 06/06/2018:
overall it was great! :)

Donkey on 06/05/2018:
Very good food day!

While I acknowledge what you said about dried fruit -- this is not new information to me -- when I feel like "indulging" or needing a "sweet", I confess that I grab a small piece or 2 of dried pineapple. It IS just like candy, but I have to think it's a *little* better than just straight out candy. A piece or 2, and I'm set. I LOVE dried apricots, but they are a food that I have problems eating in moderation because they are SO yummy!

Donkey on 06/05/2018:
PS Fresh apricots are very yummy too! A different experience than dried, but VERY yummy!

horn_of_plenty on 06/06/2018:
Yes I'd agree dried fruit is a healthier indulgence and a good pick me up before exercise or with a coffee ;) lol that's how I would do it !

graindart on 06/06/2018:
Fresh vs dried for me comes down to portion control. I can eat a piece of fresh fruit and be mostly satisfied for the time. When dealing with dried fruit, it's much easier to eat several pieces that can amount to a few pieces of that same fruit (minus the water). So eating dried fruit usually ends up with double the intake of calories for me.

horn_of_plenty on 06/06/2018:
agreed, i stay away from dried fruit usually bc to me it's an utter waste of calories! once in awhile i'll add it to my oatmeal like with cranberries which are lowest in sugar and sometimes sold as low sugar.
