Def still have a cold / sore throat. Now nose is running...

picked up 2 individual packet servings of dayquill from local deli before work...after work need to go to doctor to make sure I don't have strep or anything else..


Early: kombucha 70

Breakfast: oatmeal with almond milk 180 & banana 120 (300) and sunflower seeds 1/4 cup 160. 460. and stevia.

snack: a bar and tea i think. 200

and coffee with milk.


lunch: lots of cooked kale with some Spanish rice 250, some tofu-chicken around 200 at most. 440.

total - 1250.....good...

snack: apple 100


dinner: an omelette would be good because it's light...egg 100, toast with avocado 320, some salas with a little dressing 100: 520

1870, good.

no exercise planned & early to bed...

7am: Kombucha and an airborne in water with stevia 70

8am Breakfast: oatbran with almond milk 150, tons of fresh ground cinnamon, banana 120, sprinkle of sunflower seeds 20, peanut butter 100: 390, excellent.

Total so far: 480 - fantastic.

Looking forward to brunch with friends - I am sure there will be some healthy things there, i'll prob also have some coffee.

Jolly ranchers 70 550... Brunch: salmon 400?, potatoes 250 at most, buttered broccoli 150, cauliflower 50, and ....I keep 850...forgetting the name...corned beef 350-400? So around 1250... 1800...maybe just a bar and veggies, we shall see for dinner. On bus from subway heading home :)

dinner: around 500 at most?

2200-2300. indulgent weekend!

exercise: some walking in city, nothing major. maybe 3 miles, tops.

avg cals sat/sun are 2225 per day.

My plan is good eating Monday.

Gym day after work Tuesday.

Wednesday cut calories that day.

Sunday morning early recap about how I feel about my Saturday Success :-D. 

My weekends are improving, i'm starting to feel better and let myself be successful overall more often. Not derailing on weekends anymore it seems. I'm proud of these accomplishments. No binging and just being more prepared for when I do feel the need to eat a bigger portion, having veggies on hand...

It's been a successful weekend. And i'm excited to make today a big success. I'll be trying a new route to the city. Different trains and a different stops than i'm used to. I want it to work out...Not get lost or get off at wrong stops! I planned it. Went over it several times. Printed out the directions! I could have just written them as a note in my phone...but...free printing at work and easy to read on paper. 

It's a new route for me, so i'm a tad nervous but actually excited about the change of pace. This is what makes us grow and advance...what makes us stronger...what makes us adults - what makes us human...change is good, growth is good....good for the body & soul!

Even though I live in Queens, I don't go to NYC (Manhattan) often. You know - my life is in Queens lol! Only to meet friends who usually live there & that's why I go. Sometimes for other activities. But that's why this is good that i'm going today - i'm enjoying the journey & doing more active, different, things with friends.  Today is looking to be great...and it's sunny out too!


Saturday Eats:

7am early Kombucha drink 70 :-D

9am bigger breakfast: oatmeal 150 w/ egg whites 20, stevia, tons of fresh ground cinnamon (it's called Cinnamon Mill if you look it up on Amazon) & almond milk 30 (200), banana 120, peanut butter 100, and a pumpkin pie flavored Siggi's yogurt 130 (350). Very filling when the yogurt was added. Needed something extra this AM. Feeling good!

11:30am: dark chocolate with almonds bar 140 (thought i'd wait till 1pm for lunch...but not...)

12pm lunch: chips 200, extremely small apple 40, toast with butter 200, sardines 100. total: 540.

total: 1350, good. was gonna keep cals low, but right now I just need to eat healthy for today. glad I got some good carbs and protein in at lunch because i'll have a good workout later.

2:30- caffeine free energy supplement & an airborne 50.

3pm: dried fruit and nut bar 130 ...time for gym soon...around 4pm..

7:30pm dinner: it's big, but that's ok. lots of servings of leftover broccoli, cauliflower, and tons of kale. all of this around 150 at least. then, some rice 100?, and a cooked drumstick with most of the skin (200 or so). oh, and extra sautéed veggies around 100. total around 600. It was a lot of food.

big, late dinner. I did the RIGHT thing. Instead of a protein bar which I kept contemplating after the gym since it was late and that's a way to keep calories down, I actually ate a healthy dinner. I sometimes have to push myself extra to be healthier and make the better decision. for so long, I've always just cared about calories, and not about health. i'm trying to make better decisions for more than just one meal per day!

Total Calories are not super-high: around 2150.

No, not below 2,000. But still within range. I did do a great weights workout. Just wish my throat would get better faster. It's now been a week with a sore throat. It was getting better, but usually weights workouts and anything that I push a little bit slows down my healing progress when i'm on the verge of getting better. So, yeah. Making it work. Overall, I'm happy.

Exercise: Full upper body weights workout, back, abs.



Very happy about this weekend. Today is errands & relaxation. Tomorrow i'm going to the city all day for a friend's bday party brunch. the commute will take awhile because it's at the very bottom tip (South Street Seaport) of NYC.  I'll leave my place before 10am or so & be back home probably around 6-7pm depending.  So, today is a good day to get things done for the week to come.  I have Wednesday off for Veteran's Day this coming week. So I don't feel stressed about having such a busy Sunday since it's not a full week this coming week!

I ordered new mesh delicates laundry bags from amazon as well as a new doormat.  I am going to fill out the bday card for my friend & wrap her gift. My best friend & I are both giving her this gift jointly...it's cute. Got it also on amazon - it'a a 7-piece Disney Princess Collection of Christmas tree ornaments (7 ornaments of Disney Princesses!).

...Sounds dumb, I know, but the bday girl - who's turning 33 - LOVES Disney and she & her husband LOVE holiday Christmas tree ornaments. They even have a tree for Halloween, actually! And they decorate their apt in the city fully for many holidays, including Halloween & Valentines, Christmas, Chanukah, and others!. I know for a fact she's going to love this gift. It cost $40...but since my best friend & I are splitting it, i'd say it's a pretty good price - $20 each and we are getting separate cards.  So, around $25 for her gift from me.  Nothing too expensive or elaborate, just right & unique!

Not gym yet - I am thinking afternoon for gym

Get my nails done later after gym if I feel like it...because i'm going to a bday party tomorrow back in the city, again at the South Street Seaport area because that's where my friends live & where she planned her party :)

No real food shopping this weekend because I am off Wednesday so i'm not worried about groceries since I can get anything I am short of on Wednesday.  I picked up extra food Friday night, so i'm good till Wednesday.

Was hungry last night, late dinner...and I didn't want a protein bar or anything I had at home. So I did go to the supermarket (it's less than a 5 minute drive from my apt - prob more like 2 minutes..more food lol...now i'm set till Wednesday FOR SURE.

I also picked up some oat bran and oatmeal  at the food store since I was running low. The oatmeal was on sale which was great. also - peanut butter, some sautéed veggies, Spanish rice, a cooked chicken. now i'm fully stocked lol.

I think she will love it! And even though i'm the one who ordered it, it was my best friend that came up with the idea of tree ornaments. glad we are giving something unique instead of a dunkin donuts card! this is a much more thoughtful gift - you are right.

Calories past 6 days are 1940/day. Well, that's good, yes.

But...I can't loose weight if i'm eating this high everyday.

I am not sure what to do.

Because finally i'm not really binging.

It seems that when I take it easier (less gym) and come home earlier after work (less activities in the evening) I can eat healthier and go to bed earlier.

Eating healthier and going to bed earlier is probably the best way for me to feel my best and to get my calories a little lower.

A little lower means more days at 1700-1800. And less days in the 2,000's.

I gotta help myself lose the last 5lbs.

When I get to 115, I think i'll be done with wanting to lose any more weight. (i'm 5'1").

115 is my lucky number. It's only 5 more lbs. I can do this.

I am doing the best I've done in months / years.  I think eating MORE carbs has helped me, believe it or not. Carbs give the body the energy it needs and also have feel-good effects overall - they help us produce serotonin, here's link supporting that fact:

You are the best one to judge what works for you and maybe the carb things is good. I know that I also do carb and find that it works for me also but there is a fine line as to how much I can have and finding that fine line is good. Have a great day.

I agree with Fran, you know what works best for you and if more carbs is the way to go, so be it. Being consistently low carb has only ever been a temporary solution for me, it's just not sustainable. I find if I'm mindful not to overdo it on carbs and eat the complex kind, I do OK. Do what's right for you!

Trying for balance. Yesterday was great. Still having bars at times more than 1 per day but also getting better overall with food choices. More potatoes...more carbs.

Anyways, I am doing great.

today was pretty good.

pretty healthy.

once again, I decided on no planned exercise. but ended up walking between 20-30 minutes today. good.

skipped gym tonight as I still have a sore throat.

tomorrow i'll probably go to the gym...unless I start to feel sicker.

I want to get a weights workout in on Wednesday night so that I can do one more on Saturday.  Sunday will be very busy as I have a brunch to go to in NYC...and it'll take awhile to get there because its extremely downtown, lower east side.  I am meeting someone also, on the way there.

It will take me around 1.5-2 hours to get there one-way on Sunday. so, i'll probably leave here before 10am Sunday and will probably get home around 6pm...that's why I need to get everything done Saturday...Luckily it's a short week next week (Wednesday we have off for Veteran's Day!)

Today I had around 1250 cals before dinner. And dinner was around 500-550 at most.

Total cals today: around 1750-1800. Excellent. and even more important, pretty healthy (had some caffeine) but overall food was pretty balanced.

I am tempted to not go to the gym tomorrow either....to get fully better....and eat healthier this week...I will see how i'm feeling in the morning I guess.

Monday's Calorie Plan:

Early morning: Kombucha? 70 and also an effervescent tablet.

Breakfast: oatmeal with banana and almond milk, peanut butter 400

Snack: small chocolate bar 150

Lunch: maybe just an egg sandwich I think and some popcorn. 400

snack: apple 100

dinner: veggies, corn veggie mix, chicken with skin...I did eat a lot for dinner. mostly veggies, some corn. big portions though. very big. mushrooms / onions around 100. then a corn thing around 150?..cooked spinach def around 100 (had a ton), cauliflower around 50?...too much...and chicken around...I think 250. total: 650, decent.

total: 1800, very good.

exercise: none planned, but took a half hour walk. need to rest / stretch legs and use some cold to relax them further now. feeling good.

I ate while on the phone, that's why things got funky with portions...but, everything was very tasty and I had lots of veggies to choose from. tomorrow i'll have some potato I think at lunch :-D that should be satisfying.


throat isn't getting worse, i'm helping it get better. I may need to skip gym tomorrow...but doubt I will. :-D maybe i'll just keep it short.

It's an immune support booster that u take when u feel a cold coming on - at first signs of a cold. Effervescent just means it fizzes when I drop it in the water.. It has vitamin c and zinc and 5 calories which is why I like them.

I hope you are able to fight off an ailments, there's lots going around this time of year! Thanks for your long comment and advice too. Unfortunately what I've been struggling with is just a plain old bug (virus maybe?) and not related to stress or anything else going on as far as I can tell. It's mostly gone now and I think time was the main thing to get it out of my system. I did switch to milder and more carby foods (the 3-bean chili I had mid week was a big mistake, doh!)

Interestingly, the apple cider vinegar helped a lot and my husband also picked up kombucha for both of us on Friday. I had half a bottle and that really helped quite a bit, although I didn't care for it much. Very sour and reminded me of a less concentrated version of the apple cider vinegar. It's GT's organic in gingerade. He got bilberry which was a little better. So I've finally tried the stuff! I would try it again, I know you made some brand recommendations a while back and I'm open to different flavors too. Anyway, thanks!

yeah....based on the ones you just tried, I can tell you those are pretty strong flavors. There are others that are more mild. And a half bottle is a good amount to have in one sitting. I am bad though - and have had up to two bottles worth when i'm in need of a very gentle laxative lol.

lately I drink around 1/2-1 bottle in morning before anything else. depending on the type / brand / ingredients. sometimes a bit more if I need it to...make me go....sorry tmi!

Early 7am: Kevita apple cider drink with turmeric & ginger...wow...strong. 50.

8am Breakfast: oatmeal with almond milk and a banana 300, peanut butter on top 150. pumpkin spice black tea with stevia.

10am: pumpkin spice siggi's yogurt. 130

11:30am - middle of workout: small nut & dried fruit bar 140

1pm-1:30pm after gym: 1 munchkin 60, coffee 60, light ice cream 60...180still 1:30pm - chips: 2.5 servings 350 cals...yeah, gave in to them :) is ok, not feeling great, little under the weather I think.1300...and a natural bar, 2pm. no worries.

was gonna have an egg sandwich for dinner but bought a lot of cooked veggies...some tofu pepper steak (will not buy this one again...) and beans...and more veggies. and had a smallish chocolate bar afterwards.

prob around 2250.

not a horrible weekend. fine weekend. ready for a new week.

no activities planned for after work tomorrow. looking forward to coming home and relaxing.

sore throat is a bit bothersome, but I think I can get rid of it.

bought some airborne effervescent tablets, some lozenges, some sore throat spray.


plan is to put away laundry, read & relax, grocery shop, pick up airborne if I don't find any at home - getting a sore throat.

Saturday Entry!

9am: Kombucha 70...just gonna say 100.

10am Breakfast: oat bran with almond milk 150, a yogurt flavored red velvet! 80, peanut butter 100, banana 120. 450.

11:30am snack: chips 130, candy 20

2pm late lunch: lots of veggies around 150 at most, vegetarian chicken 250 at most, and toast with butter 200 600. is ok.

Dinner: Pita, salad with dressing, shrimp, and some sautéed broccoli. more than expected but I do NOT regret it - at all! Healthy food. I needed this.

2,000 cal.

exercise: 1 mi in early afternoon and then mall. Excellent!

Perhaps tomorrow I try to have that low cal day that i'm trying to hard to reproduce! Goal for tomorrow is once again 1500. I think I may go to the gym in the AM instead of the PM on Sunday...and maybe get a manicure in the PM!

And diners have been the best way for me lately - I get a nice salad, grilled shrimp..and sometimes extra cooked veggies. Any leftovers, I eat the next few days. Diners are also relatively cheap for all the food you get for the $.

Planning a late lunch around 2pm - probably eggs. Then off to mall later with friend.  Planning to get new concealer / foundation at Sephora. I haven't bought a new one in around 1-2 years! Really! I don't wear makeup everyday.

going to keep calories low today because I want to keep working on my weight thru April. My goal is to settle in at the lower weight so that it's easy to maintain. As my legs get stronger and I can do more cardio, it will get easier.

I want to be able to maintain a weight around 115 with ease. Right now, I am still around 120. I have not stepped on the scale this week because I could feel my body remaining very bloated bc of hormones and TOM.  It's a little too much flux in hormones so I may consider going on the pill...maybe...to get my body a bit under control.

I'm not in a rush to go on the pill though because I really am not eager to go to any more dr's right now.  You have to go to the dr to get a prescription for the pill...I may though...closer to sister's wedding maybe...if acne remains bad for the next couple months i'd go to the dr around January. 

I don't think acne is going to stay this bad...as i'm trying different skin care products and going to work less and also take a little better care of my skin in an attempt to make it better on my own.
