i'm DEFINITELY gonna cook my flounder tonight, NOT BREADED! i have scary memories of my mom breading fish, yuck.

No exercise tonight. Yes to baking flounder with minimal added ingredients just lemon, oil, garlic, pepper, salt. Yes to finally a cleaned brita filter so i can drink water and not seltzer for a few months till i have to do this again... :)

Jen, my good friend and work colleague also, is coming over tonight to cook empanadas and also help me with my fish - i'll give her at least two of the filets to take home to her family!  We made spur of the moment plans today at lunchtime.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 11/27/2017:
Fish is so fast and easy in the oven...or even frying...so delicate and quick....you will love cooking it.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2017:
it was a pretty good first attempt, didn't use a spatula so it broke apart at the end, but it was a pretty nice first attmept.

got very distracted bc was cooking some Spanish food, a friend came over, and that food totally dissolved in the pot - it was old and the directions weren't around and we weren't making a good attempt.

the fish is good for a couple days ;) happy about it - and plan to cook it more often! and try all the types of fish since we have many fish stores around here!

Snacking: kombucha, small amount 30, chips 150, cooked cranberries large portion 100: 280.

1pm lunch: elbow noodles that i cooked - seams i really need to cook the whole box bc whenever i cook 2 portions, it gets eaten really quickly - time to find my large pot! 300, marinated mushrooms 150, half a turkey burger 100: 550

1250...heading to gym soon :)

total saying 2050.

2 day avg: 2200, decent.

I have to pick up some wraps before i go to gym, totally forgot i was running low, i only have one more left and that's how i eat my breakfast usually....on a wrap at work.

Putting away the laundry i did yesterday.

Cleaning hamster cage.

Gym - planning for a really good session.

then i'll shower, lol, after the darn gym would be good.

Ricky is cookng a beef stew tonight, so i did errands with him this morning to buy the beef and groceries. I plan to eat some of the stew tonight, maybe one last movie also!

I bought fish, FINALLY!, for the first time, that i plan to cook tomorrow after work - SO EXCITED to FINALLY bake some fish! Flounder is what i bought :) I may not be able to finsih it all, so i might give a filet to Ricky on Monday night. I cannot wait to start baking a lot of fish to eat frequently, like at least 1x per month if not more to cook it. hoping to cook it more like 2x per month, to last 2-3 days each time i cook it.

Had coffee late in the night yesterday (so sleep was not great), while watching not 1 but TWO movies at Ricky's place. I have Amazon prime and finally i have hooked up my account to even 1 tv...i didn't even hook it up to my own yet (i've had prime for YEARS). So we hooked it up to Ricky's TV, although he hates the Amazon monopoly, and now he has accesss to hundreds of movies and tv shows, for FREE!

The movies we watched were not thru prime though - although in the future it will be. We watched two well-made flicks: The Beguiled, which takes place during the Civil War down south (but doesn't have to do with the fighting, more with a story of women living together / going to school because they cannot live with their own families / and a man that they are all falling for and sorta fighting for and then everything goes very wrong...). The second movie was also EXCELLENT. it was fiction - called The Interview...about two guys that plan an interview with North Korea's leader...which obviously would never happen today.

both movies were enjoyable, kept us captivated, and were well-done. They were not flukes, thankfully!

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

BearCountryGG on 11/26/2017:
Sounds like you are having a great weekend...and that first movie about all the women fighting over 1 man,,,sounds like every guys dream...until the part where it all goes wrong...LOL....Ya Think? LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 11/26/2017:
yes, and that's exactly how this movie goes...and when it goes sour, it goes REALLY sour. they women end up...really hurting him...

Donkey on 11/26/2017:
Thank you for the movie reviews -- I enjoy movies but just don't have the attention to sit through them, much any more, unfortunately... It does sound like you had a very nice weekend, though!

Saturday was overdone, my fault, eating too much early in the day. total 2350. but mostly healty. Planning to be getting back on track, but it's the WORST when clothes don't fit how you want them too...and when you don't feel comfortable in your own skin. I'll get back on track as needed.

Happily stayed in bed till around 9:30

Leisurely breakfast 500

Snack 2 candies chocolates 100

Lunch: noodles with a hair of horrible tasting sauce 300, half turkey patty 100, chips 150: 550. Mikes hard mixed with seltzer 100 1250 :)

Went on a WONDERFUL 2 mi walk in the park with Ricky! finally some light cardio!

4pm early dinner after walkBites of Ricky's sandwich at Arby's 100?, fries a whole big portion 300?, less than half of the AMAZING chocolate chip cookie 200 (whole cookie is 500 cal!) 600 1850

Light night with Ricky (i just didn't plan my eating well today), almost a cup of tomato sauce that i used on the following: Arby's jalepeno bites (not that good - i didn't like them), toasted english muffin with butter and the tomato sauce. just too many calories today.

Doing laundry now, currently noon. I didn't see ricky yesterday which worked out better bc today we are going for the stroll - we didn't yesterday get together - and we can have dinner today and see a movie - makes for a complete day. Tomorrow I might rearrange furniture with him otherwise we'll do it on Christmas bc. We don't celebrate but we are off from work and makes for a good day to remodel my living room and entry foyer area so things are better arranged to make the space more attractive aesthetically!

bearcountrygg on 11/24/2017:
Do you buy those shirataki noodles?

horn_of_plenty on 11/25/2017:
Not recently I haven't.

The reasons I don't buy them include because they are not easily digested and in the past they caused tons of bloated and constipation which isn't good if you have to leave the house for working to sit very uncomfortably and possibly even more in comfortable while working out and just never knowing when I will be able to be relieved of them!

I loved that they were no cal.

But you have y cook something with a lot of flavor to put them in or they really don't sit well in my mouth I need something to break up the texture of only having noodles.

You have to dry them really well.

So I Never really find a good time to eat them - they worked more for me when I had a teaching position with many days off - now they just mess with my digestion and I don't feel I am making a good decision to have them if the my digestion gets screwed up bc there's no time extra to be home or relaxed while I feel that way after eating them.

In the past I have bought them assuming I'd eat them on a long weekend or holiday but all they did in the recent past was sit in the fridge and eventually get thrown out .... but I do think their concept is GREAT if you can cook them and dry them and mix them fully into a dish - no need to eat a full package at a time - there's two servings in the package. I used to by mostly angel hair. I wonder if you could make Mac and cheese with the rice shaped ones :)

bearcountrygg on 11/25/2017:
I've never tried them...I heard that they have a rubbery texture and smell funny....they got popular for awhile there and then they disappeared....but just saw them again a couple of days ago. Guess I'll pass on those...they don't sound appetizing...

2350, not terrible. no exercise. relaxed, nice.

After work bc we get out at 2pm:

Picking up veggies ready-made 3pm i'll get home,

Getting a small hair trim i think by me 4pm latest i should be home...,

And cooking turkey burgers bc i have the meat home already, cleaning up & walking to friend's apartment by 6pm. should work out time-wise.

Maybe sleeping over Ricky's...we are watching movie and having dinner tonight- Ricky and I.

.instead of even going to my apartment, i got a spot by ricky after getting a haircut and picking up some food, so i just parked, put my food in his fridge, and slept over, didn't even go home last night! Saved time and i just relaxed at his apartment.  I was at his apartment by like 4pm. It felt good not to be running around and just relaxing yesterday, plus i slept really well.

I would love to take off early from work today...this week feels like it's going by soooooo slowly!

What movie are you going to watch? I've been waiting to see Thor: Ragnarok. I can't wait, I want to see it in 3D in the theatre. Well, enjoy dinner and a movie tonight, and Thanksgiving tomorrow! My Thanksgiving was wayyyy back in October.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/23/2017:
Ricky downloaded a movie that he told me about after we attended a library author presentation about Holocaust and a specific voyage that happened during it on the St. Louis cruise ship. There was a movie out in the 70's i think (yes, old movie and extremely well made - a classic). He downloaded it so we could watch it. It was worth seeing, lots of suspense in it. but it's not about a happy subject, but well documented!

Thor sounds good...lately, i'm trying to do more FREE things. Living in Queens, NY, there's so much there to do. Facebook shows endless programs and concerts for very low prices. After this year 2017 ends, i will be more conservative of my money...but still enjoyable cultural and fun activities. I have a few more paid for events thru end of December, but after that i plan to save my money....

sorry so rambled. !!!!

Thor sounds really cool in 3D, those movies are always so fun. Yes, you Canadians are finished and already onto Christmas :)

Maria7 on 11/22/2017:
Thank you for your suggestion...I do put a diced onion in with the chicken and rice and let it all cook together. It is very delicious. Had some more tonite. But, it is good to get more veggies in...besides all the vitamins, they help a person stay hydrated and usually most of them are very low in calories. Happy Thanksgiving.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/24/2017:
good point on hydration!

i love to give suggestions :) you are so welcome & happy thanksgiving!!

onion is a good addition...why not add one more veggies next time? peppers? or even cooked / roasted cabbage?

1650 before gym...getting my booty to gym for a good workout...haven't exercise since last Sunday and turning to 3x a week weights workouts now thru January.

Now it's almost 4:30, debating skipping gym, nah...lately i do not have much energy. I will have to push myself and make sure to do walking, even if it's early in the morning...

Total calories were great: 2000.

2day average: 2050 per day.

Need a new battery for my scale! It said "Lo" this morning. A lithium battery. i'll get online on Amazon. and it will be delivered with all my other stuff.

Laundry was done & put away before 10:30am i think? Bedding is actually back on my bed, not waiting to be done later.

Up to cleaning the hamster cage now, 11:40am.

After cleaning the cage, i'm going out to pick up some food for the week (mostly vegetables and kombucha).

Then, a snack followed by a good gym workout. I just cannnot give up the gym (i just can't!). it seems it will be really hard to fit it in, if you read my upcoming schedule below. it'll be simply a LOT of time out of my apartment, a lot of commitment time just spend sitting, and i'll just have to chug thru as well as i freaking can.

I am taking the step (didn't want to, at all) to sign up for an estimating (free) course at the union hall by me. My dad wanted me to take it for approximately SEVEN years. So, since it's his wish for me to take it, i'll take it.

The reason why it sounds like i'm doing it for me and not me is exactly that. I'm doing it for him. I honestly do not think i'll become a "much better" electrical estimator by taking this 3 month (i think?) course.

The course is FOUR hours a week. AFTER work. I think tuesdays and thursdays, 6-8pm. so, it means i'll work from 8-5, everyday of course. and two days a week i'll have an additional sitting commitment, from 6-8pm. Add my own desire to exercise two other days during the week (and once on the weekend) and it means i'll be really, REALLY busy.

If i had a family, or dog, i'd simply not have time for any of it.

This is why the real reason i'm taking the course is my father. The course will be a STRESSOR.  But that's what i'll have to deal with - as it's only right for me to do SOMETHING my dad wishes. As he's the one who got me this job anyways that i've had for 7 years. so i'm just listening to him.

but yes, i'm pretty frustrated about my schedule - so much sitting, so much extra commitments. Two hours is NOT a small amount of time, especially NOT two times a week.

Fitness-wise, i'll lay low on cardio until the class is DONE. I HOPE it's only 3 months, will have to look into it, soon.

Lastly, that's really it for now.

Looking to go to the gym today, i'll be switching for the time being to 3x a week gym weights workouts, no cardio. This actually equals one less day of a fitness commitment per week as i used to try to do joggging 2x and weights 2x, totallying 4 days. Now with only weights, it'll be 3 days a week, fine. and then i have the course 2 days. that's really already over my own personal limit time-wise, but nothing i can do except accept it.

If my dad helps me, i have to follow something he asks of me. ah freakin well.

I plan to go back to working on my own cardio after the course ends, but practicing Spin on my own i think, for a couple months i'll do it for 15 min per day on the days i think that i do weights, not sure - i'll figure that out later.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 11/19/2017:
I had to smile at "I just cannot give up the gym" -- right? I completely get where you're coming from :-) If you have the time, I think it will help you feel better. Nothing like a good workout, even if it's a short one, to help center yourself, mentally, spiritually, and physically.

While it's my personal opinion that it's too soon from your life-plan change to enroll in the estimator's class, I do understand why you are taking it, and so I support you in decision and reasons for taking it now.

Look at it this way, maybe: take it now while it's winter. By the time you're done, it will be Spring, with warmer weather to be outside -- and you won't have to be stuck inside some classroom any more.

I like your gym plan too -- even though it's less than what you were doing before, it's a shift in focus (back to weight training). Maybe spinning can be a goal for 2018, if you're ready and if you have time.

horn_of_plenty on 11/20/2017:
Thank you for all advice.

I have no choice but to take the class. i have no excuse to others not to. At least it is Winter.

Your advice helped me here.

bearcountrygg on 11/19/2017:
I think you might not find it as hard as you think...I worked 40 hour weeks, got a college degree, wife to 1, a Mom to 2, took care of a big house and fixed 3 meals a day for everyone. I will admit to doing homework sometimes at 3 in the morning...but I was the only one running the house and getting kids to school.etc....and it was do-able. Time management becomes your best friend....the times in my life when I accomplished the most were years like those....I usually took 4 classes a semester...and that made for a lot of homework...but when you have to fit things in...somehow it all comes together...I think you will be fine and since to feel like you owe it to your Dad then that is a small price to pay. Maybe you will get a benefit from it that will serve you for a long long time...in that case...it will be well worth it. Good luck with the class.

horn_of_plenty on 11/20/2017:
I know i can do it....it's more the inconvenience....but DEF not as inconvenient as being out of work.

2100 total i think.

dinner - had a "real beer" called Ommegang Hannipin - one bottle's worth (a belgian beer brewed upstate NY in Cooperstown) and high alcohol percent, around like 8%, if i spelled it rometely correcetly.  It was GREAT. ...we were waiting around 40 minutes for a table so we spent time at the bar. Next, dinner was healthy, i ordered brussel sprouts which were not that great, and a salad, with a "shrimp burger" which was really light and tasty. plus i had fries from a friend, they were sweet potato waffle fries, like a serving of them, big serving, very oily. very good!
