  • 2/14/23 - 2/22/23 - approx dates planning to travel with french friend in Central America; wedding for her sister; as her "plus one," trip to enjoy Antigua,Guatamala. / My friend J is working for American Airlines; and i have my fingers crossed that the flight is going to be mostly free, aside from taxes, for me...unless her work situation changes...really counting on this at the moment.
  • Spring / June 2023? - if flights still free for me; thinking to do another trip including J and friend Joyce if they are both free, somewhere in Europe...

Lunch: leftover silkin tofu/mushroom soup 150 tops, couldn't even finish; also half a heavier type of microwave meal with cheese/meat etc by Amy's - i can tell it was heavy on the cheese and not as calories suggest on the box 350.500 total

Snacks: peach, gummies, kombucha back at home doing OSHA before dentist. 250.


Dinner: i have tons of leftovers; also the healthy chicken...4 macaroons - coconut 250; fresh from supermarke!!!!  some of a yogurt that seemed to have started to go bad...50...so threw out the rest.

walking was short, including supermarket prob around 30-35 min - really not much!

OSHA 20 min after lunch...not today,but doing it before dentist since i am home well before 6pm dentist...will do around 45 min-1 hr.

Work "special email request" with SC for pr docs early...DONE.

6pm - After Work - Dentist - A Cleaning; park at home & walk to dentist...(no need to ask to leave early; 6pm manageable)....GET CASH AT SUPERMARKET /more veggies in advnace for weekend/bananas...i have like $2 in my wallet, not good! - done!


3/2 Wed - OSHA30 - 45min before walking bc 50F temps..

TOMORROW re-cook the zucchini takeout from last night that was undercooked (i don't like the taste of raw zucchini)


3/3 Thur - No OSHA - Weights tonight :)

10a-11:30a - Discovery Hike, Cunningham Park, Union Tnpk & 196th Street - may be kids at this one bc event says best for kids; but its a hike near "vernal pools & wetlands" where a lot of creatures make their habitats...close-by my apt, too.

4:30pm - Dermatologist appt - for an underarm sweating treatment i opt to get every so often - and then i use natural, lighter deoderant as well and shirts stay fresher; all around i love this treatment.  Copay like $80; worth it to me anyday, i try to limit the times i do it each year; prefering to do it around summer when you sweat more; it can show more.  Also see about two small moles that annoy me for removal - may need another appt scheduled.

Tonight is 1st night Passover Holiday... working today, I will see family tomorrow for 2nd night.

I do not like the taste of raw zucchini either. My grandmother used to put it in green salad. Bleah... This might be one of those cases where the leftovers are better than the 1st serving.

yeah....not everyone restaurant i guess i get takeout from cares too much on the quality...thing is, there was good seasonings/garlic on it...seems these days a lot of restaurants rush the cooking part when it comes to veggies...

it will be better 2nd time around :)

Dentist should go well; as should walking there (10 min walk).

* not every restaurant...there's so many restaurants / locations in queens, but i think the pandemic has something to do with it as well...it's annoying when the veggies are undercooked! but maybe some people prefer it that way?

Have you ever met your French friend? When I frequented South African animal live cams, I encountered a group of 4 very nice women who met at the cam & travelled to Africa together. Awesome! They all got along well & had a great time. They were saving for a second trip and invited me, but I’m not into traveling.

yes...we went to the same camp when we were 12 almost 13. she used to live in Westchester (New York)!.

She traveled tons as her dad moved a ton for work so she was actually born in England and has dual citizenship. she's not a citizen yet of France though!

luckily, she was a friend of a friend when facebook came out later on after my college years i found her listed on FB and friended her. got lucky. seen her like 2x since...maybe 3x we met up as adults.

she comes to NYC a lot bc her twin sister lives here. i think i met up with her 2x in NYC and i went to see her in 2019 in Paris & stayed with her :)

I loved visiting Manhattan when the husband’s parents lived in Westchester County. It was exciting, but if I were to live in a big city, it would be my hometown of San Francisco. But crowded and expensive unless one is extremely wealthy.

2/28/22 Mon WEIGHTS TONIGHT  (not tomorrow bc dentist)

(OSHA - HALF HOUR AT WORK?) - boss had said i could do 20min/day....so i did 20 min and told him first / confirmed it was ok, just to not disrespect him / him to wonder why i'm doing it at work if i said i wasn't going to......so, you know, 20 min or any amount of time is WORTH IT at work!

Breakfast: banana and coffee 150 ; keto pancake in mug; packaged, last one; not great, but very convenient; 200. ..350

Snacks: tbd pb 200/ Butter cookies 100

Lunch: leftovers from coworker that i forgot about; kielbasa150; potato100; cabbage 100(not much cabbage, but that's ok!) free meal! My own large apple 150; 500...gum...water...

5pm early Dinner: takeout Italian undercooked zucchini!!!!ugh! i have more; so i will make sure to heat it/cook it a little more 100; some garlic too; with half a wanton soup 50 broth; 3 large wantons 300; jackfruit last bag at the moment 100...550

7pm at beginning of workout Snacks: Hershey's Milk Chocolate drops (highly addictive, have one more bag - but may not buy too often as it's easy to overindulge on these !! 200

Those things in a mug are so handy...pricey...but handy...an they also help keep me from adding syrups or frostings.......They also limit quantity well.

Sounds like it'll be a great week - lots of time devoted to your OSHA course!

Thanks for your comment about taking in more carbs. I am focusing on protein, but it's easy for me to get lots of carbs in during the later part of the day so in the morning I try my best not to overdo it with carbs. My appetite is not as big in the morning and I can usually go until lunchtime without getting hungry. I definitely try to get carbs in before I workout!

snack: chocs 50 and rest of coffee as i did the first hour of OSHA, 100...

3pm nice, afternoon meal while starting up for some relaxation/OSHA on couch: raspberries (straight from supermarket; they spoil so easily - these were actually good!) 120, 2x multigrain tostitos scoops (excellent!) 300, thai shrimp soup - little too spicy but good - this is my favorite thai place right now but they have a tendency to make things extremely spicy even tho i wrote to make it not very spicy...still good lol; 130...550. dried jackfruit 100.

7pm dinner: extra large chicken drumstick, without skin, very good. 150, sauteed spinach with olive oil, garlic, soy sauce. 200, goldfish crackers 150. 500.

Continue OSHA 30 starting at 15% complete...finishing at one hour done this AM - 18.33%, will do one more hour more later in afternoon...finishing at: 21.67

11:30 - off to supermarket; will get: many seltzers; greens for GP's, large carrots for GP's (those individual ones last for many weeks in fridge), peppers for myself/gp's, berries if on sale for myself...will skip buying bread/wraps this week, already have 2 sweet potatoes i will probably bake later for the week, bananas - exra, 

Lunch / Takeout: may order takeout to have for lunch; after supermarket run. - just a soup from thai place for now...although tempted to take more out for the week; but i think i'm good so will just stick with a soup which may have some protein in it like seafood, we'll see!

Cooking: sauteed spinach; baked sweet potatoes, hard boiled eggs, maybe this interesting mayo/choc cake (but may wait on it still) - you don't taste the mayo at all it's for creaminess, etc;

10a-12p - Forest Park Orange Trail Hike :) Location: The Overlook; Richmond Hill, 11418. Only 15-20 min drive from me :).  will wear ankle brace; this is back in my attempts to be more active on the weekend. Free Ranger hike

Wasn't in the mood to get up and get such an early start out the door....took my time instead this AM...doing more of the OSHA course this AM, it's on the front of my mind bc it's sooo many hours. (will take way over 30hrs to do because sometimes there's distractions, but the clock keeps running on the program).

Well, that's too bad about the walk, but I know what you mean. I *did* push myself out the door early this morning, and I'm not so sure that was a good decision. Sometimes less is more.

One thing you wrote reminded me of the one year I took my continuing ed for the loan original license. I opted for the self-study course, rather than the live webinar, to save money and for "convenience". CE is only 8 hours, but when I did it self-study, it took me over 16 hours to complete. Lesson learned for me. When I take a webinar, when the class is over, it's OVER.

2/26/22 Sat - WEIGHTS TONIGHT - was a slow, drawn-out workout, but a pretty strong one which is good to see my strength as being pretty stable.

9:30 simple breakfast: gummy vits; banana 120, cassava flour wrap plain so good 180, coffee 50, chocolates 100 hershey's milk choc drops (very addictive...hard to stop...! very good.)....450.

Snacking 11:30-12:30 protein bar 230, regular gummies 120.

2pm-3pm Lunch: wrap so good these wraps 200, cream cheese 50, lox 50, chedder goldfish crackers x2 300....600...

5p wafers filled with choc; small coffee 150., pb 100.

8p small cookies before workout 100

9pm banana after w/o

1850-1900....

Did my own laundry early this afternoon.  DONE!

Continue OSHA 30 - plan is to try to do it all morning 10-12ish...we'll see if i can last (with bathroom breaks as needed, etc). Starting at 11% complete...ending at tbd...so far, did about an hour...def need to spend a little more time later on it....an hour more...finishing at 15%.

4:30pm - Dermatologist appt - for an underarm sweating treatment i opt to get every so often - and then i use natural, lighter deoderant as well and shirts stay fresher; all around i love this treatment.  Copay like $80; worth it to me anyday, i try to limit the times i do it each year; prefering to do it around summer when you sweat more; it can show more.  Also see about two small moles that annoy me for removal - may need another appt scheduled.

all upcoming hikes are organized; which is good bc sometimes i don't know these parks well and can be more secluded, so going as a group is better :) The organization that puts the hikes together is the NYC Parks Dept; which is a very large organization! :)

2/25/22 Fri - little snow/ice on ground, but hardly. and because schools are out this week, i was still on time to work and roads not near as trafficky! :)

Breakfast: small banana 100, coffee 50, half large cranberry nut muffin 250. 400.

Snacks: tbd - prob small bar 120, nut butter 100, gummy ginger things 50...300

Lunch: thick soft Bread/potato from office all great 200, leftover tofu/kielbasa sausage (coworker) not much 100; sauteed veg leftovers 150...450...all this was REALLY, REALLY excellent!!!!!

Snacks: gum

4:45-5:15 early Dinner: rest of last night's leftovers beans sauteed 100, greens /cabbage sautee 100, half a large egg/cauli/mayo patty really great 100, flatbread cassava 200, yogurt with added apricot jelly 200. 700. chocolate 100. tired, maybe bed very early, but we'll see. maybe hop on bike later....or just relax and do cardio tomorrow ;)

I am glad to read that you are looking forward to more park & volunteering activities, plus traveling for a while. After paralegal school and before courts testing, I think this is an excellent thing for renewal. Also, isn't it nice to be reading for enjoyment or your own enrichment?

It's called "President's Week." Even when i was in school, there was always a week off starting with Monday, "President's Day," and then out the rest of the week. Typical Public school week holiday here.

yes, i am starting to realize i should focus on the renewal path; but also not forget the importance of "keeping my mind strong, capable...for a new potential career"..where i'll need to be able to "swiftly shift/learn new things" especially at the beginning...you know? I will be over 40...and hopefully way earlier than 45yo. I must maintain my ability to aquire new knowledge easily, mostly like i can do now..must remain open to that challenge..

Those benign moles can be annoying. Matt just had one removed from his inner thigh. Derma said they are required to biopsy anything they chop off, but he knew it was benign.

Worse thing was all the ones my mom got her on her arms from UV, sun. Malignant & they excised muscle tissue to get it all. Yuk! Always wear sleeves & use sunscreen, hats etc. love hats anyway!

thats terrible they had to go all the way into her muscle! ugh.

4pm early dinner: tbd... - may do takeout thai food / soup / or other takeout tbd...would be a good day to pick something up...750-800 (lots of cooked veggies from a natural food type of place with very good takeout; and a cauliflower/egg/mayo etc patty excellent had half; and a cassova type of wrap that i bought a package of for a chance of pace 180 or so cals for that)

snack:7pm "good fats" cookies and cream keto bar. very nice. 200 during workout.

9pm before bed, chocolates. 150. hershey's drops.

many times, i leave out the vinegar so no vinegar bc sometimes i don't need the extra "gut movement / probiotic" bc that's how vinegar acts in the body...

so what is in there is: salt, pepper, garlic, olive oil. :-D

 CUNY is out; i figure the amount of $ I make; my lifestyle, forcing studies on my time off; not moving enough; is not worth it once again....it will be hard to travel and plan travel if i'm studying; etc. just too much for me to manage.

despite rain which was mostly light and mostly wind, i walked to and from meeting; getting in 20 min exercise round trip. it was also around 55F, so not very cold - so i dressed very comfortably in fleece top/bottom and with winter coat; comfortably walked to meeting :)

Good idea to explore other options for schooling. I hadn't considered that you'd be spending the lovely weather days inside studying. I do worry a bit though, because I know that being back in school is very taxing on you and a bit stressful.

I thought the problem you had with Payroll Lady was that you were taking days off too soon. If that's correct, wouldn't it be better to take 4/14 off (the end of the cycle)?

i have 6 remaining days left....and i'll be paid for them if i do not take them by approx 4/1 vaca cycle or 4/15 sick cycle...

the cycle is ending...i have done great - i am ending with 6 days left unused...

she will have to pay me...and she will not be able to say anything like i used too many days....

the cycle STARTS again 4/1 and 4/15...then i'll have to once again BE CAREFUL on my days usage bc it's the START to last for 12 months..

...but right now, i'm in the green, per se.

yup, she notified the owner that i was "over my vaca days" this past November; but it was by a day only; and i hadn't realized how close attention she pays to that (lesson learned!)

Your soup looked delish! I think I'm confused about the days off........Don't you have to WAIT to take them AFTER April 1st for or April 15th? I had never had paid days off in any job so I am totally confused by it I think.

will explain later on when my brain can focus...basically my contract has 15 vaca paid and 5 sick paid. that's how it works for being in the union as long as I am; 11 or so years.

if we don't use them, this company will pay you also for the unused days...so it's like extra money bc you were paid to go to work and for the days you didn't use...

That is quite interesting...apparently the electrical union is very different than the Carpenters union....In the Carpenters...there were no paid days off or sick days....The union was just there to control job site safety (OSHA) and back the carpenters in job disputes.....Things sure have changed. So if you don't take all of your days and you work through them instead you actually get double pay? That's very interesting.

YES, you get almost dbl pay. i think they do not give certain things again - like some benefits or the hour OT daily, not sure..that's right tho, now you got it.

I bet you the carpenters union may even have paid days now.

things have changed GREATLY in the past 30 years in these manual labor types of industries. sick days used to be 3 only a few years ago; now upped to 5...

my companny pays unused sick and vaca...usually only unused sick is paid. my company does well with also paying unused vaca (other companies you just lose it if you don't take it; and never any carryover anywhere).

Snacks:jackfruit 100, blueberries 120, gummies 120 throughout afternoon & while cooking ...

6pm...Dinner: bowl of the soup below 50 yup that's about it for the cals!; remaining pringles 120, chedder goldfish 210...just wanna get into my workout, don't want volume of veggies; 400 tops. time to work out :)

 2/20 Sunday - slept in...till around 9am...then scrolling thru phone in bed,wishing someone a happy bday, just catching up with messages, etc..

10am breakfast: the other sf mini cheesecake from bakery that i bought Thursday evening..300..and a coffee 50...

12:45 lunch: chicken soup at pizzeria, excellent quality! 400, bread 200, 600, tea.

3:30-4 monster energy drink,not healthy but it was happening...low cal type; craving; bc tired as cousin has a TON of energy...you wouldn't belive. and i'm just not used to it; and wanted to come home & study the OSHA...and go to supermarket, which i did...and also had the energy to then clean my car again outside, altough only 32F, with soap and towels to get it looking better after a storm we had...and now it's better...YES!

4:45-6pm veggie meal: rest of the chinese veggies with sauce 300, white rice 200. 500.; later a couple clementines and 1cup blueberries 200

6:45 after shower, cleaning up apt: jackfruit 100, choc large Andes mints 120, forgot to record 5 gummy vitamins 50

7;30 protein bar while finally sitting down and stopped procrastinating; doing OSHA...180...must keep on with the OSHA or i will never get done. 30hr is a lot.

10:45am to go to "Cousin R" today :)  (he's my 3rd cousin, but i have no 1st cousins that i am in touch with, so he's def 'my cousin!').  We'll get pizza & take it back to his apt to eat. It is a cold day; so, i do not think we're going anywhere. I was thinking to change the plans to tomorrow when it's warmer, maybe eat the pizza outside, but it will be only 50F Monday and that's still a little chilly - and i already have some plans tomorrow too and don't  want to complicate my schedule or the scheduled chat with Joyce. It is what it is ;)...YES!

After; Get gas in car after Richie...YES!

Supermarket: bananas, potatoes for baking?, or bread, fruit - clementines and/or berries, frozen waffles/pancakes if on sale, frozen veggies,  spinach...sautee it with beans...also cauliflower to roast.., buy a pepper, small grape tomatoes.. YES!

OSHA 1hr + - ...(not sure i want to force OSHA today, may read not sure)...i did around an hour but wasted a LOT of time as i was really tired after richie, supermarket, cleaning car...so couldn't get right into it. i'm glad i spent some time on it; but took so many breaks that all the time i did spend may not have even added to an hour.that's just my guess...it's ok. i plan to do an hour tomorrow also...

Really do NOT want to ...but, Later Evening: Catch up on phone with friend Christine, set an hour or so limit, let her talk....don't use up all the time on me...just listen!

seems i'm going to skip weights until tomorrow.

Kind of going back to comments yesterday, I'm glad that you have taken official steps by applying for the certificate program. Getting started is half the battle, and you have already done that. (Kind of like with your tax return! Sorry that you are missing a form. Oh bother! Well at least you know that once you have that last document you can really finish the taxes up, so you're practically there already. Good!)

I've always been more interested in the human resources aspect of business, rather than the business itself. I majored in psychology in college, so things like motivation, perspectives & biases, gender differences, etc., have all fascinated me.

Anyway, I think this will be a good program for you. You will learn a lot about yourself, and I think the applications to wherever you may work or volunteer will be very helpful to you.

yes, it was a nice outing. he has a LOT of energy, so i was pretty tired after it...but also tired due to not going out much on my free time lol, so this was good for me. we ran around a bit with errands, was nice!

yeah, the program should be a good one. i'm sure i'll be ok with the work...hopefully i get something out of each of the 3 classes, or at the very least be able to relate to the classes which i am positive i can do; after working in an industry related to electrical Business for over 10 years! yeah,i hope the classes and what i take from them will help me improve myself or my knowledge of work/business for my future as well :)
