<fell asleep until noon>...not proud of how i used the time, but i'm now up and doing activities...

1pm hopping on my stepper for 25 min, then lunch, and possibly some writing work to do for my class...or, i'll cook :)

2pm lunch: leftovers - some green beans, some squash with cheese 100, half a big chicken breast with cheese/light sauce 250, part of a large sweet potato with a little butter 150, black sweetened coffee.  500. 

5pm-5:30 snacking turned to dinner: apple, low cal drink 100 - some roasted delicata squash, not enough seasoning but filling and healthy, 100, ratatouille which i drink the liquid like a soup also 150.  350...and half a garlic bread i made...i think only 200-250.

Studying / writing for ADR class Week 3 assignments (still the course is only in week 1, but there are also a couple other studies working in advance of the due dates)....It's a short class that is only just under 7 weeks, so, when it's over, I will not be taking another class until January.  That's why it's nice to get the course done fast - I'll have a longer break before the next one starts (and a good possibility I will be back to work as well). ..in progress...will read a little more...DONE

walk or bike ride? or stepper/indoor bike, leg strength.....DONE!

porbably cook ratatoille so I have it to eat all week....and cooked some roasted squash....and cooked some garlic bread (leftover i had from a previous meal, kept the bread in my fridge)...DONE!


Tomorrow i'll visit family - I'll be there for lunch and dinner...hopefully some walking and relaxation. Maybe studying at their house, not sure.

Thursday I'm home / rainy day..will do weights on Thursday.

Friday: October 30th I signed up for some outdoor Volunteering that I think i'll drive to, not sure about public transportation, looks like there should be a few spots there...for FRIDAY :)

Saturday (Halloween) I think i'm home mostly...

Sunday is the last day of Volunteering at Queens County Farm.. :)

Next week is mostly up in the air right now, with another Volunteering day next Saturday, November 7th, which i'll prob take the train to go to bc parking isn't good and the train is close by and a great option (and it's a quiet saturday so bus/train will not be packed!).  I wanted to volunteer with Nov. 3 elections but haven't heard anything so I doubt I'll be assigned anything...I really don't care too much if it works out or not.

i had to put the two i didn't eat in the fridge...they were nice and cool but also not soft thankfully :) perfect in my cereal, but they don't really satisify me for long!...but the health benefits are good :)

You're getting a nice selection of vegetables! Are the jelly beans sugar free? The only kind for me are full sugar Brach's. Nothing else will do... although Jelly Belly's are good too.

Do you feel you are on track to take the PM test in December? I only ask because I have a friend studying for the MCAT in January, and she told me yesterday that she's behind, might have to take it in April.

I'm up adding some fixes to the paper i posted a couple days ago...adding a good little concusion paragraph that wraps it up a bit instead of leaving it open-ended. my mom is the one giving my feedback to add an ending in...and donkey advised me to write a little bit more about emotions (which i certainly agree is huge). i may just tell her little story how clients are advised to take a half hour and grab a cup of coffee and then reconvene! something like that is what i'll prob write...i'm also doing New Week #3 assignments today (mostly reading first...) this course has been really educational - Alternative Dispute Resolution. ..this work is mostly DONE, but i'm doing some reading of the Week 3 (out of 7 weeks) website material and will start reading the textbook (also chapter 3)  tomorrow as well.


i do think i'm going to be working again soon (November or early December), so i also want to get this course (7 weeks only) out of the way if possible before I start work. I also do acknowledge that this is the time to study for the PM exam ! ha! no, i'm not taking very seriously. i guess i have my doubts about passing it...

This reason i think i'll be working again is that i have a possible "in" at this other company that i interviewed at last Tuesday, with someone i know from my previous job. there is potential for me to even be assisting him...time will tell...hopefully this works out for the relatively "long term." (meaning i'm not out of a job again in 6 months).


I will also spend time today on the PM study app on my phone for review...planning to only do a little bit, tonight, maybe half hour and that's it...


today is the farm from 1-4pm. it's cold today i think high of 55? so i'll dress appropriately. looking forward to the exercise.. was GREAT...not cold bc we were moving around, nice and warm in my clothes i chose to wear. good exercise DONE

(i have ONE session left and then the farm volunteering is over for this season).  when farming ends, i suppose i can try to be more routine with my weights and not skip as many sessions as i have been. !!!  The farm has been fun and i do want to do it again next year :)

i should also do weights tonight (not willing to do them this AM)..if i do not, i'll just do them Monday which i figure is just as good - so we'll see how the day goes

laundry has been done previously...but i put in a load tonight as by separating darks from lights it's easier to see when one load can be done (and i like this approach to separating laundry...from when i take off the clothes, i separate...it's been saving a lot of time!) DONE!

still the shower needs to be cleaned...ha, i am a procrastinator!


I'll do the shower tomorrow morning.

I'm glad that you found my comments/story to be helpful. I did not mean my comments nor story to be a critique or criticism. So I hope you're not changing your paper because you thought I was telling you to do so!

Being a Psych major in college, I'm definitely biased in approach to such scenarios, which is why I am amazed at how intuitive my boss is. He used to be a prosecutor, so he's very much into people's psychology and emotions (sometimes), with voir dire and all. I think my dream profession would be to do research into voir dire (jury selection) and how juries work, think, act, how they come to their verdicts or stalemates.

Sounds like you have a “good bias”

My friend is on a jury but for some reason the jury was hardly done Voir dire - basically everyone selected for jury duty was chosen no matter what. They are selected for 1 month to decide in case extensions or reduced sentences. It doesn’t sound like typical jury duty and may be related to something changed due to Covid and the running of the court. They didn’t even ask the potential jurors anything - they were just all selected !

Getting chilly here too. Saw lines 6 blocks long on news in Queens yesterday, people waiting to vote. Glad we did it in the mail. They sent both a postcard and an email acknowledging our ballots were there and will be opened when the polls close 11/3. Not sure how long it takes to get results. Some states count them early and release numbers when the polls close. Wish ours did that.

9am breakfast of...2 small slices of pumpkin pie! (now only 2 left, thank goodness!) and coffee 

Lunch leftover pizza smaller slices from parents with a fried egg I added on top  - really feeling a desire for protein after the pie breakfast which isn't filling egg 100, half slice 400, crust of another slice 150...650...saving some of the pizza mentioned to take for the walk with parents (not eating all at once bc I feel full) 

one stroopwafel cookie (ode to Donkey!) my sister bought them and left them at parent's house...150

dinner: big salad with some olive oil 200, small amount of sweet potato with little butter 100, taste of pasta 20, green beans 50, chicken just a little 150, two cookies 150..700 tops


 4mi walk today :) with parents.


Off to parents' house today for walking in the afternoon, lunch, and dinner...a full day. :) should be good. we are also going to watch a movie together back at their house. my sister is back in NYC with her husband and baby today so it will be quiet at my parents' houes and restful! haha!

Walking with parents at a preserve that we have both never been to - should be GREAT!

I may use the app for PM study a bit or just start that up again tomorrow...

we watched a REALLY, REALLY great movie i highly recommend, so funny: My Cousin Vinny! first time i watched it!!! it's so fun!

also, i read them my assignment that you read, so i will add what you said (something more on emotions)...and i will also add a conclusion stating how there's an umbrella of similarities with these two fields because they share many methodologies with each other in how the tasks and jobs are completed...etc etc.

I will cook the other meal I have today so the veggie part doesn't go bad...just reminded myself to take the chicken out of the freezer!..it even look slike some of the veggies went bad - i'll check it out when i'm ready to cook, after studying some PM...meal is in oven, so it will be DONE 

Everyday lately has been very foggy/humid cool in the mornings with nicer weather in the afternoon - i think i'm staying inside much of today and maybe trying for a bike ride later??..not eager to go out...i think i'll also ride on indoor bike today, while watching TV tonight...DONE

I'm glad i watched the debate last night...i thought they both "picked on" each other too much, but that it was a decent debate. 

 An assignment I wrote that i'm proud of: 

The “Top 10 Tips for a Successful Employment Mediation,” is an article written by Frank Burke in October 2020.  Burke is an attorney with a vast amount of experience in employment mediation, the topic of his article.  His biography section states that Burke has “42 years of experience as a business trial lawyer in national law firms having handled a diverse range of business disputes …in 26 states, China and Canada. His website is www.burkemediation.com and he blogs on mediation strategy and advocacy topics at www.adrconflictstrategies.com . He is a 1972 graduate of Cornell University…and a 1975 graduate of Harvard Law School.”  (https://www.mediate.com/articles/burke-10-tips.cfm)

Burke is a great example of a professional who continues to transform with the times.  He uses his former education and skills but seeks to combine them with modern technology to stay current and attract a large clientele.  Although Burke graduated in the 1970’s, slightly under 50 years ago, his article is very applicable to the current, modern-day ADR and mediation approach.  Additionally, as mentioned in his biography, Burke uses the latest technology, including Zoom (an online live video conferencing platform), to stay current as a professional attorney in mediation today. He also has a website and writes informative blogs. 

            In his article, Burke mentions the top 10 tips for successful employment mediation, many of the same tips covered in our Alternative Dispute Resolution course:

1.      Create an effective and comprehensive mediation memorandum

2.      Make the most of your pre-hearing conference with the mediator

3.      Prepare yourself and your client for more effective oral presentations in mediation

4.      Deal with emotion in the mediation

5.      Explore your best, worst and most likely alternatives to a negotiated agreement

6.      Take into account non-monetary considerations: apology, reference letter, reinstatement

7.      Set the stage with your opening offer

8.      Plan your settlement moves in mediation

9.      Work with the mediator to avoid or break impasse

10.  Close the deal



As the above 10 points are self-explanatory, I’d like to write a bit more about my main thoughts on the above 10 points of Burke’s article and how I perceive them to relate most directly to the attorney’s successful management of mediation cases.

            The reason why my main thoughts move towards a lawyer’s success in managing employment mediation is because that is actually the main duty of the attorney.  As a former assistant project manager myself, most people’s work is essentially their project.  And to be successful, a project manager needs to do certain main steps, just like a lawyer needs to do certain steps when managing a mediation, of a project which relate exactly to Burke’s 10 points and I will continue to explain why.

1.      Just as a manager needs to create an initiation (even before the project starts), certain events need to take place. Research needs to be done, for example, to see if the project is justifiable and if it makes sense at that place, community, and time.  Is there suitable funding for it?  As an attorney working in mediation, Burke’s point #1 refers to that initiation, or creating a “charter,” and it is Point #1 in the article, “Create an effective and comprehensive mediation memorandum.”  The lawyer’s Memorandum is the charter. And the lawyer also must decide if the client has appropriate funds for the mediation as well.


2.      The next major phase, and usually longest phase, of a project is the planning phase. In Burke’s article, several of the above points are exactly that – planning. For any job, any occupation, any project, any mitigation – including a mediation project for a lawyer – planning must take place. Without a plan, a project is destined to fail and so is a mediation.   We must plan for the risks that come up in projects as well as mediations. There are monetary risks as well as relationship risks, to mention just a couple.


The following of Burke’s 10 points cover planning:

Point #2: “Make the most of your pre-hearing conference with the mediator”

Point #3: “Prepare yourself and your client for more effective oral presentations…”

Point #5: “Explore your best, worst…most likely alternatives to a negotiated agreement”

Point #6” “Take into account non-monetary considerations: apology, reference letter,


Point #8: “Plan your settlement moves in mediation”


All of those above points contain words and phrases that directly relate to how the client and lawyer will work together in the planning stages, outside and many times before the actual mediation takes place.


3.      The next phase of project management is execution.  This is when the actual mediation is taking place between the two (or more) parties. Points from Burke’s article included in the actual mediation are:

Point #4: Deal with emotion in the mediation

Point #7: Set the stage with your opening offer


Of course, some of the planning points will also show up during the mediation as the steps of a mediation as well as project management have a tendency to overlap. 


Importantly, as in project management, mediation will essentially involve some emotions and it is best to understand the motives and goals of the other side of the meditation as well as possible if the parties are intending to solve their negotiation through mediation successfully.


Setting the stage with an opening offer means trying to present an offer that is reasonable and justifiable to the other side.  If an offer is over the top or too difficult to be realized, it can upset the entire mediation process.  This is true for project management as well.  All sides involved in project management must be able to explain their offers and work with the stakeholders for there to be success throughout the project. Everyone must work to get on the “same page.”


4. The next to last step of project management is to monitor & control the project. There may be risks that have been met and need managing. Some of the project or mediation may have been successful but perhaps a conflict has now come up that is leading to an impasse. This fourth step of monitor and control relates to Burke’s Point #9: “Work with the mediator to avoid or break impasse.”  During monitoring and controlling, the mediation is in session or has been taking place and the impasse or conflict leading to an impasse must be monitored closely and controlled so that a negotiation and the final closing phase can take place successfully.

5. The last step of managing a mediation and project is the closing phase.  It’s the last stage of a project and signifies that the mediation has ended. The goal is to end it successfully and that is the point of Burke’s article.  Of course, there are also unsuccessful mediations that lead to litigations, but that is not the point of Burke’s article.

I use wipes on the sinks/toilets in between cleanings. The tub/shower is the worst. Hate cleaning it.

Our weather is unpredictable. Can't even believe BBC half the time.

lol, so after i showered, i cleaned all of the bathroom, EXCEPT the shower! hahahaha

yeah, it seems i have run low on my wipes, but i have tons of cleaning sprays...so instead of using those wet wipes, i'm going to work on using up my liquid cleaning sprays...should take me many months!

I really enjoyed reading your essay. I liked how you drew the comparison between a mediation project and other work projects from your own employment experience.

I believe you're right in that a lot of the work is actually in the preparation. This would be very true of real estate closings, too. In fact, I see closings as another type of mediation, because anything can happen at the closing. And it is true that most of the work for a "closing" happens beforehand.

We had a deal cancel at the closing yesterday. The mediation failed.

And touching on that, I would say that #4- the emotional aspect - of the mediation meeting is the MOST IMPORTANT part of handling a client. I wish (from my own psychology degree background) that you would have written more about emotions in mediation - but then, this is a paralegal paper, not a psychology 101 class.

My boss has often told clients to leave a closing and get a drink at the McDonalds for an hour or so. This helps cool off heads and can "wake up" clients (sellers or buyers) to realize, Hey this could fall apart. How badly do I want to buy/sell?

Yesterday, at another closing, one of the buyers was very upset (over-emotional) and our New Guy didn't know how to handle her. Nice Lady was with him and took over that aspect, to show him how you bring down a client who has gone off the deep end.

9:45pm during debate: 1 chocolate and, small slice pumpkin pie 200


 i did both legs and upper body exercises ...DONE


I woke up and laid in bed a little before some breakfast, did an assignment quickly, and went out to help cousin again with another bike he wants to sell! yup, another! it's another bike that he's owned for around 15 years and now he has a trike because he can no longer balance well on a bike...

...so his other bike will be sold on facebook marketplace by me :) i took it home in my car (boy is it big!), he had to get his tool to unscrew the handlebars (smart guy) or it wouldn't fit into the back of my vehicle...we took photos so we can sell it on facebook. 


Today, I'm doing what i enjoy which is finishing the work for my ADR class...lots more to do...IN PROGRESS, finished some...DONE for now...

Then I will study using my phone app for PM...?????

I have to lift weights (unless i want to get very week?) today...not sure what time, maybe after lunch?..DONE...

I want to cook, but may wait one more day...

i also just sold some candy on facebook, some sugar free stuff, to a buyer that i stay in touch with specifically for sugar free stuff! ha!...i will drop off to her...she paid me extra, so i'll include a couple apples and cake mix for her (since i am not really interested in using a certain cake mix i bought anymore)...dropped off, DONE

Will watch the debate tonight :)

Bikes have been easy to sell here during the pandemic. People are either stuck at home, or ride them to work, and many don't want to take a train or underground so ride bikes.

10:30 snack: gummy starbursts, 1.5 servings = 150 cal.

12:00pm lunch mini bagel, mustard, deli pastrami 200 total, chips 150. 350.

2pm lg apple 100

3:30 fiber 1 choc chip cookie 150, some ice cream..150...just tired...but continuing to read and hopefully moving onto actually doing a paralegal assignment...lots of reading, LOTS of reading!

 6pm dinner: started out healthy - a fish cake not too big 120? on a mini bagel 130, with a little slaw salad with some dressing on it 150, followed by those starburst sour gummies...over two servings, so darn good. 240...total here: 650. decent..i will be done with this semi-large bag of startbursts soon...they are too addictive!



I will prob be home most of today, aside from a walk to pick up some things...maybe another short walk in the evening too...(thinking to do 2 short walks):

I was going to do my leg strength, but i feel a little tension in my calf from my weaker leg...maybe just stretches and massage??......will do stretches later tonight close to bedtime i think....did some fast rolling only - DONE

Walking to pick up my boots that i dropped off to be fixed yesterday so they will last me many more years (good brand original price i paid almost 3 years ago was $170, fashionable to wear with any outift including dress clothes, soles were very worn and i don't want rain/snow to get in them...)...not impressed with the job he did to my boots...should have communicated more about it...color is not as nice as it used to be..design of the heal is different..OH WELL i will still wear them - not about to go buying anything else in the next couple years either in terms of boots...DONE


tempted to clean the guinea pig cage but that can wait a few more days (no need to do double work when it's not necessary)

shower / bathroom needs to be cleaned very soon....been putting this off....

NOT cooking today, but maybe tomorrow? - probably - or they veggies that came with the dish might spoil...

French friend may call today, i almost forgot about it, but it will be a faster call (not two hours).???...we'll see if this happens

I went on a bike ride on the weekend with BF and same thing with my calf - except on my stronger leg! I guess maybe I was compensating with my strong leg while we were biking. He always does push me a little more than I push myself :)

Sounds like your classes are all going well and you are staying pretty organized through the day. I love what you are filling your days with!

the interview went well, it seems due to my relationship with the interviewer, that things can work out in 2-4 weeks, we shall see...

stupid me to didn't realize i hadn't printed my most updated resume, and with no printer in my apt, i had to bring the "older" resume from earlier in the summer. the change isn't much, but it's just a lack of preparation on my part that i didn't go and print it at my parents house....

it was mostly ignored, ,this fact, and quickly moved over in the interview....

never did i do that before!

Good Morning, up around 6:30...it will be good when the clocks change and it becomes lighter in the morning, LOL!

7am banana and pb small amout 200

10:45 back at home - pie from freezer, key lime Edwards brand, not that fresh 350, coffee 

2pm gummy starbursts, not sugar free, sour and the real deal. amazingly good. 200 with rest of coffee...i may also have a sandwich to get some protein and food in me...yeah...small sandwich 200, chips 150...i will make sure i eat some veggies later on today :)

4pm was about to reach for more gummies (i have a bag of these starburst ones), but went for a small apple. 50 TOM has me craving junk this month.

5:30 dinner: another meal i made - it was fried shrimp (good) but i put a buffalo butter sauce on them that i hated so i have the rest of the shrimp to my neighbors. 200?, salad with some olive oil 150, bacon bits 100, half an alcoholic beverage 100. 550..

..now doing upper body (pushups going poorly...maybe still recovering from farm/pantry volunteering? or losing muscle lately?)

8:30 jelly beans 100...not sure what's with my sugar cravings. my stomach is still out of whack, i think, from yesterday when i was having issues...tomorrow is a new day, but i'm looking forward to finishing a workout and going to bed sorta early tonight.


i'm a little emotionally tired / physically drained. so, i'll get some rest tonight and try to eat a little better tomorrow but i'm not craving anything healthy at the moment.


 took a NAP back at home after the cake and coffee (yup!, even coffee wasn't gonna keep me up, it was cold/muggy/dank...and i didn't have any snacks from 7-10:45 and was getting cold)...just a 20 minute nap...

1pm-2pm picked up dad's glasses at the union hall that needed to be fixed...dropped off my nice boots that need new soles (for going back to work, hopefully), dropped off my very dirty dress pants at the dry cleaners (wore them to multiple interviews and today i knew i'd clean them after riding on the bus/subway)...this was all on foot, around 40 min walk and this morning also includes some walking (not much)...but i've done an hour's worth of walking today :)..cardio DONE

i reviewed very little on the bus/train as it was a new route and i didn't want to miss stops...but i did some PMP review. 

i'm going to start up the next bit of hw for ADR (alt dispute resolution)...in progress

i will also be cooking a meal. DONE

i will do weights later tonight DONE


i have an interview in the city, taking publlic trans...a little nervous, but must get a move on so i'm not late..have a nice day, everyone... 

.....so interview was good....they will not hire in these couple weeks but are trying to add me after more jobs come thru which i was told could happen in 2-3 weeks...he will stay in touch with me...i know the guy (superintendent) bc i worked with him previously :)...just one thing, i don't have a printer set up, and i accidentally didn't print out my latest, updated resume that changed since summer started DUH!...but, it's ok, it is still relatively recent LOL. i'm such an idiot....LOL. I took a summer course in PM and the paralegal oops. it's ok, spoke about it...I'll print it out next time at parents' house for the future. i'm such a dimwit!  because i had interviews prior to this one, i thought the one i had was the updated one...time to fix that and throw all the old copies away...def poor preparation, i hope they forget about it! LOL, it wasn't made into a big deal at all and brushed over very quickly.

I really should take care of the printer situation, but it doesn't really make sense to get ink for printing relatively nothing...i tried the library today but forgot that this particular branch is closed. i'll have to print new resumes at my father's house sometime this week / weekend.

7:00-7:30 dinner: mini bagel 130 with small amount of pastrami 70, chips 150. 350, seltzer mixed with a higher alcholic beverage 100.


oh man - i just can't buy this specific brand of gummies again....it produces too much indigestion / gas / diarrhea... ah well. i had bought two different new brands and this specific brand gives me too many troubles. the brand is called: SMASHGUMMY...i may just throw the last packages out. 


Doing my ADR assignments online for the class that starts today...i HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT IT IS NOT IMPORTANT TO DO THIS COURSE FASTER THAN IT IS SUPPOSED TO GO! and that i should still be studying for the PM Test :) that is why I will not be rushing this ADR course...I have more than one subject to concentrate on...

I am going to skip weights today - a little sore..i may change my mind later, not sure...

I will do leg strength exercises later...maybe during judge judy?

I should cook the broccoli soon....

I WILL cook a shrimp meal tonight (OR TOMORROW) delivery came with two more meals - i will now end the service today ...these meals were really, really good from Home Chef but they are out of budget and too "rich" to eat every week.

You microwave the cold original fiber one cereal? I used to absolutely LOVE the original fiber one...but then the recipe changed drastically. It used to taste very sweet to me. And now it tastes like cardboard. I don't know why. Maybe i need to add stevia to it? I don't think i used to?

Yes, I add water to the cold Fiber One, cinnamon and stevia & microwave So it’s like a hot cereal. Would hate the taste of it dry or with milk. It’s the best low Calorie source of fiber I know of. Only eat dry cereals as desserts.

good thing about this TOM cycle...no pre-TOM issues, just TOM today. LOL....this is a good thing as many months i suffered during Covid with bad pains leading up to TOM, but this time it just came on the day...pain and all. so, i think my body is doing better from staying busier lately....

I work up a little sore, but nothing serious, just my upper body/back was sore, but not lower body! that's a first! because yesterday, although i was on my feet for 4 hours, it wasn't continual walking, so i'm only sore from all the lifting/sorting/bending/pulling! so nice from this volunteering experience. I also woke up with slight PMS feeling of cramps...hopefully that comes soon.

Today is also the farm, 1-4...i should be ok. no weights today and i may skip them come monday also???, just doing some leg strength exercises.

I have been relaxing when not volunteering, trying to read ADR/mediation book and trying to study pmp test. the reading is going better than test studying...reading i have done well.

i look forwarrd to Monday, i will do homework for the new ADR class and hopefully finish a good majority of lessons 1-2.

i got a lot of veggies from volunteering at the pantry...the were offered...and i took them. uh, why not!? why would i go to supermarket and pay money when i can take some veggies free after working for them? they are fresh and good. so another week goes by for me not purchasing any veggies at the supermarket. i may get a few more at the farm today, as well! :)

Isn't that a great feeling in your upper body? So not only did you do good deeds, but you did good work too!

As long as free vegetables are offered at the farm, I would gladly accept. As you asked yourself, Why not? Is someone giving you a hard time about that? or are you feeling guilty about accepting this gift? You should not feel guilty AT ALL. This is the "fruit of your labor", literally and figuratively. If the farm wants to share their bounty with the volunteers, then go for it.

Look at it this way, If you DIDN'T accept the free vegetables, there is a chance that they would spoil, and that truly would be a shame, wouldn't it?

I kind of figured that reading was going easier for you than studying. Just seemed that way from what you write.

...i was offered free produce to take at the end of my volunteering yesterday at the PANTRY for the needy :) ... i took that yesterday!!!! it was GOOD FOOD. i could have even probably taken everything they were giving out, but, i took some nice produce and a meal for lunch...and went on my merry may home. I figure i'm not rich, i did good work, let me enjoy the produce....there DID seem to be enough for staff to enjoy in addition to the community...they were seriously unloading trucks for HOURS.

That is so wonderful that you can get your fresh veggies from working on the farm. That is good exercise, too. I got '3' ears of corn at the grocery store today for $3...yes, $1 each and their produce is quite high but I also got 3 yellow summer squashes that were about $3...I think they were $2.49 a lb. or so and got '1' green bell pepper for about a dollar...So, that is a blessing that you can get your fresh veggies working on the farm. Saves a lot. Have a blessed day.

yes, i am saving a LOT on veggies right now....a ton. today i splurged at the supermarket on a bit of splurge items (not veggies/fruits), but i was thankful that i have had a LOT of cost savings over the past 1.5 months on vegetables.

I am SURE i have saved well over $50 on veggies since I started at the farm...maybe more.

Apologies for misunderstanding your post. I still say it's a good thing to accept the produce from the food pantry (not the farm). Produce can turn (go bad) so quickly. My reasons remain the same. :-)
