 17.50 November Sunshine Hours

Last TOM - 10/19/21....

Waiting To Do -  read courts changes to their website...reminder to do - mid November.

Currently reading a NYPL digital book called "The Energy Bus."  - it's a leadership book...back in progress, re-reading some, it's all good tips and reminders about being a good coworker and/or good manager. it's worth my read; and it's written well enough that it's not boring to re-read some of the same chapters!

11/10/21 Wednesday - NO work come tomorrow ;) 15 min walk in AM once i parked at work :) added. will be walking a little after work, by work (since it gets dark early now, 3:30pm my daily end time for work is the perfect time to walk and i'm thankful to work literally next to a park with walking trail. thankful for this! i literally do not have to move my car - i just start walking right after work.

370 breakfast deleted contents by accident...

Snacks: Cashews 130; DECAF 50, chia seed bar (by health warrior) 100 (using them up, they are pretty healthy, but i got sick of them for awhile)

Lunch: leftovers including:thai veggies including a few baby corns 150, an egg100, leftover bit of mac/cheese 200,  plus an apple not all as it made my throat itchy 50 (semi allergy to them sometimes). 500.

3pm Snack: coconut chewy candy 100 called Long Boys. very good!

Dinner: i ordered takout early (used an app to order it around 11am for me to pick up after 5pm and it worked out well so will continue with this method)...trying this new place thats pretty close, 1.5mi, to my home. lots of veggies (cooked and raw types) in it along with a salad 300. it's a veggie bowl. plaintain chips 350...

1900....

11/11/21 Thursday - Veteran's Day - Union Holiday. :-D

Thank you to our Vets! (InnerPeace!, Donkey's Hubby!) and current service men and women!).

I slept in until around 8am, woke up a little earlier, but kept going back to sleep as it's a day off and i knew i'd be able to sleep in a bit more :)

9am breakfast: banana and coffee 150, flavored peach oatmeal 220, almond milk 30. 400...

11:45 early lunch: leftover veggies bowl 150, tortilla chips 300. 450. some of a dry rose cider, just ok, will drink over the day. 100.

Afternoon snacks Butterfinger small 100 also nut butter at some point 100, blueberries 100

1250..

upper and lower body strength today

cardio today is walking to store and back; as i have enough to do at home and want to keep it simple!

make tuna salad today :-D

make a cooked veggie dish today, still deciding what recipe to do, it will include eggplant. it was going to be a chilli, but i have no beans. so i may even use a chili recipe but adapt it...as i saw something i really liked recently in an email i receive on healthy cooking.

DONE! Do laundry today - almost done with mine including bed sheets and bath mats, may skip fleeces for pigs untiil the weekend to wash or do later, tbd :)

(maybe drive) walk to buy reusable plastic/ceramic plates - maybe, need to see the selection - at dollar store that we can wash and reuse for bdays / cake instead of using paper and throwing it up in the garbage....

buy some seltzers at store, but may just wait until weekend (still have penty at home, but prefer to resort to my cans of seltzer for when i don't have time to buy bottles as i get the cans on amazon and they are like dbl the price of bottles in the store...

12/1 WEDNESDAY....DECEMBER!

Progress as of today: 7 lbs lost so far, only -2 lbs to go!

Jacky82020 on 11/10/2021:
December! Can Christmas be far behind?

horn_of_plenty on 11/10/2021:
it seems everything is in fast-forward around here OMG!

crazy. already Nov 10th! like what!?

Donkey on 11/10/2021:
I might look into the Energy Bus after I'm done with the book I'm currently reading and the "hot pick" I have to pick up after work today. Both of these current books are over 500 pages. Oof!

horn_of_plenty on 11/10/2021:
it's an easy read. cheesy at times in how the author chooses to explain things. however, it is a GREAT reminder of how to work with others and keeping the positive flow. it's very basic and very easy to move thru. I think you'd like it and also would like to hear your thoughts on it, if you do read it later.

bearcountrygg on 11/10/2021:
What brand of french toast sticks do you buy?

horn_of_plenty on 11/10/2021:
i have to check, i will confirm but i THINK it's Eggo...let me google and see as i remember what the package looks like (threw out the box and just kept the bag in the freezer to save room at work) ....YES, definitely Eggo. there's a few types and one strip is pretty good. i just do one strip, not two, it's like 4 pieces and just over 100 cals. they can be toasted or microwaved.

bearcountrygg on 11/10/2021:
I used to make french toast for years and years...and I haven't made it in a long time......these sound good...Thanks HOP for looking that up.

horn_of_plenty on 11/10/2021:
NO PROB, They are easy and also not high in calories at all. just a change of pace from a pancake / waffle. nice flavoring!

horn_of_plenty on 11/10/2021:
i gotta say, Eggo has a good recipe for all their products. some of the other keto brands not so much....sometimes i try a protein waffle, sometimes not. they are not all good...and least eggo is reliable in taste :)

bearcountrygg on 11/10/2021:
Thanks for looking that up...I will have to try those.

coffee&calories on 11/10/2021:
Hey veggie queen:) I have a question for you. When you make big batches of veggies, how do you count the calories for it when you eat it? Do you just take a serving and kind of guess how much the veggies and oil would be roughly? Thanks! I tend to get really doctrinaire about these things.

horn_of_plenty on 11/10/2021:
now THIS is a great question that i will answer later on your diary!!!! bc i want to sit and think and answer back when i'm home either tonight or tomorrow!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE this question!!!!

11/9/21 Tuesday - up early, took public trans in (also took it last night home - left car at work which i will drive home tonight so i can get started on my workout - upper body). got lower body in while waiting for the bus this AM and finished up some squats while waiting for a train :) Will record 45 min for taking public trans as i did have to stand a little bit and of course the walking to and from house/work :) I really like this drivign in the AM, leaving car overnight, and then drivign home the next day! Saves money and gives me exercise...may start doing this every other week or eve less - as most days it's prob best to either leave my car home or bring it to work and right back home.  Once in a while, like during a snowstorm that occurs while at work, it may be good to leave my car at work and take public transport home though! There's an area that is covered where i can put my car to keep it safe and out of the snow if i leave it overnight.

Breakfast: banana and coffee 150, clif white choc macadamia 250

Snacks: nut butter 100, rice krispie bar 100

600

Early noon Lunch: healthy - "Life Cuisine" microwave meatloss noodle/cheese/broccoli meal 400 cannot wait to try as this brand is quite new & other meals i found extremely tasty, side of cherry tomatoes 50, 2 mozz sticks with hot sauce 200.

3:15pm Snacks: got hungry, had a chia bar. 100; also had lots of tea with stevia which may have provoked by appetite leading to the bar!

Dinner: TBD lots of leftovers, i should eat a few leaves of escarole and maybe part of a pepper in the fridge as fresh veggies just to get them in; and i'm thinking leftover wanton soup - only the two large-ish wantons 250-300 from last Tuesday evening i have two left :) drove thru some traffic, not realizing it would be bad, and got thai cooked veggies 200, kombucha 50. total here: 550.

1950

11/10/21 Wednesday - NO work come tomorrow ;)

Dinner: will be the other empanada or i may leave it for Thurs or Fri as it's a veggie filled one...called callaloo which is a green veggie sautee kinda thing....

11/11/21 Thursday - Veteran's Day (Thank you to our Vets (InnerPeace!) and current service men and women!). - Union Holiday. :-D

Thinking to do some meat cooking on my day off today...tbd...chicken or beef, not sure....

Do laundry today - so i can skip it again on the upcoming weekend :) / sorta eliminate a wash of the gp fleeces but letting them be used over 10 days, not just a week.

Jacky82020 on 11/09/2021:
Dinner plans are making me hungry. Mine will be stir fried Normandy Blend vegetables & cabbage. Got a huge one at Walmart. Sucker must weigh 3 pounds.

horn_of_plenty on 11/09/2021:
that is healthy. lately, because i'm home last and no workout after, i eat what i want and then get myself to bed.

if i need to exercise, i try to eat a little less, so if i want a snack after exercising, i have room, if that makes sense...

i must do more veggies...planning to cook me up some good ones on Thursday :)

bearcountrygg on 11/09/2021:
Leftovers always seem to be on my daily menus too!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/09/2021:
trying to use them up :) will make the tuna on wednesday/thursday. :)

Horn_of_plenty on 11/09/2021:
...LOL. THURSDAY i'll make it.

Donkey on 11/10/2021:
I had never considered the option to keep your car at work overnight. That is a great idea! Public transportation might be easier to do, if you only have to do it one-way. Does that make sense? One-way is ok, but round-trip is too taxing -- something like that?

I will be responding to your extra comment to my Monday entry. I was having technical difficulties yesterday and couldn't log in.

horn_of_plenty on 11/10/2021:
yeah, seems there's no written rule that it must be driven home at night; plus there's security gates so it's basically safe plus i put a sheet in my window showing i work in the plant. it's kinda nice option, indeed! yes.

no prob ;) have a nice, long weekend!

Dinner: carbalicous. why not! lightly pumpkin filled (not much filling, but just the PERFECT taste and texture empanada (sorta large empanada "shell" glad i had the calories for it!) Sounds like you had a lovely Sunday, and I hope you have a great day today!

Wouldn't Veteran's Day be a good day to review the NY courts website? Or perhaps the day after Thanksgiving? :-)

horn_of_plenty on 11/08/2021:
great idea for the veteran's day website review...

Jacky82020 on 11/08/2021:
I stopped eating beef other than the tiny itty bitty rodeo burger. Really lost my taste for it as much as fact fish & poultry are said to be healthier. Making a big pot roast for Matt in the crockpot. It will last him a good 3 days. I’ll only eat the carrots, potatoes and onions. He likes his beef.

horn_of_plenty on 11/09/2021:
a little bit is good for us..iron and stuff ;)....but not a lot you are right!

bearcountrygg on 11/08/2021:
Those mini bananas are so cute......Also drink water for cramps and even gatorade if you drink that.

horn_of_plenty on 11/09/2021:
TY Bear :) i should buy some coconut water (similar to gatorade) again.

Brett on 11/08/2021:
Why not both? Chicken and beef.

horn_of_plenty on 11/09/2021:
YES. both (just not in the same meal as it's sorta overdoing it in my opinion). sometimes my folks make hamburgers and franks, i generally just choose 1. the less options, the less overall calories bc you are limited. that's also why some limiting diets work - like keto...sometimes it works just bc you are eliminating so much.

Jacky82020 on 11/09/2021:
Plenty of iron and stuff in vegetables!

horn_of_plenty on 11/09/2021:
true, like in spinach..good point.

horn_of_plenty on 11/09/2021:
and beans which you love.

Saturday was a "lazy day" for sure. Mostly on couch closing my eyes or back in my bed partially sleeping. A bit of a slight binge at lunch, tho better for the rest of the day. it's good i'm seeing my parents tomorrow morning as it'll get my up and out early in the day. And since i'll be a bit busier on Sunday, i should still be able to sleep well before the work week. I really didn't mind this lazy day, though i hope not to make it a habit. Partially the reason for it was that i planned purposely to skip any cardio and i'm leaving a workout for tomorrow, unless i change my mind tonight - and i might and just do upper body tonight, but we'll see...

11/6/21 Saturday - Weekend will prob include a lot of relaxing. - yup! Cardio Rest Day. just thinking about the future, my plans, making plans with friends by group texting, and giving myself a lot of "breathing room!"

Possible supermarket shopping either today (or tomorrow) to get ingredients for another stovetop veggie sautee!!; also maybe a package of lox (sliced salmon for a better, protein rich breakfast this week...)

8/8:30am Breakfast: banana and coffee 150, choc heated up (not a huge one) croissant 200 cal per the package :). 350.

10:30am snack: 2 snack size butterfingers 200, 11:30 a new choc nut butter 100, some kombucha 50

1230-1pm lunch: rest of my sauteed veggies that i made last Sunday eve :)200, 2 large beef wantons from the erxtra soup i bought home Tuesday  300, blueberries 100 (may have more blueberries!) 600. and 3 dbl stuff oreos. 210. (slight binge....but just for this meal..stopped it from getting worse...)

4:30 after much napping in bed snacks:blueberries again 100; but will also drink some more liquids...seltzer with stevia....

5:30 dinner: egg/egg white,100, ritz crackers 150, cpl sheets nori (pantry cleaning!) negl. 250, roasted Brussels but the garlic burned and ruined their taste 50

snacks:last of my keto pb cups. will order more.

2000.

i'm hard-boiling eggs, roasting brussel sprouts also :)

11/7/21 Sunday -

breakfast 8am banana and coffee 150, choc filled Croissant heated in microwave 200

snacks chocolates 100

1pm chinese lunch with parents takeout from favorite place -  fried noodle chips 200, egg drop soup 150, p1 spare rib 150, veggies extra and tofu in sauce 300.....800...

snacks 5:30pm back at home gummies, blueberries 150

6:30pm dinner - lots of indian okra (lots of treats will be going on these next few days...) but the okra was extremely healthy and didn't even include a sauce other than some spices/oil and cilantro. nice change. 300; raspberry very sweet coconut milk alternative yogurt (no protein in it, very tasty like a dessert). brand is so delicious. raspberry flavor. 150.

1850

Drop off payment of dues to a club in mailbox - Done

Prob visit parents for a morning walk followed by lunch; then back home to relax before the work week. :) Laying low on purpose this weekend. was good.

Go to supermarket, to maybe Make another sautee of veggies but different mix of vegetables to include spinach which i didn't include last time.  I like a big pot of sauteed veggies to last most of the week :) - I can also make them on Thursday when i'm off which sounds pretty good to me, too! supermarket - done.

Make keto choc muffins - i have a package, it will just be a few; it's a mix that you add relatively few ingredients to. tried blueberry, needed more cooking last time, so will be sure to make muffins that cook up quicker and not just pour it in a tin to make it like a cake/loaf...skipping...maybe bake these on Thursday!

Make tuna salad for Monday & Tuesday lunches :) with little extra ingredients such as a little lemon juice and parsley to make it extra tasty along with mayo/onion, mustard. it's gonne be GOOD...

(skipping all laundry this weekend - just done Wednesday).

upper body workout and possibly lower body tonight too, but may choose to wait until tomorrow for lower body :-)  - starting soon around 7pm Sunday night after i took a nice shower :)

Sounds like a relaxing weekend!

How is Frankie?

Horn_of_plenty on 11/06/2021:
Frankie is steadily better and better. he's gained a tiny bit of weight, i can tell when i pick him up! he's still a little skinny but he's doing remarkably well. i guess the surgery worked! amazing! i really wasn't sure if he'd make it after all that diarrhea. !!!! vet had said it was due to antibiotics he gave it after surgery. now he's good!!!...very relaxing day over here, just what i like sometimes!

bearcountrygg on 11/06/2021:
I bet you are ready for a relaxing day!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/06/2021:
so so so ready :)

Donkey on 11/06/2021:
A couple of things now (writing from my phone): I did not get an extra walk in at work (morning), because by the time I was in a good spot to do so, it was lunchtime.

Also, about 6-7 years ago, I went to a church thing, and when I got out, several hours later, I could not find my car in the large parking lot. Seriously, I thought someone had stolen my car.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/06/2021:
lol, i did start to think that with my car. there are lots of one way streets that either go one way or the other, mostly evenly...and i took a different way back to where i thought i parked. in the end, i had to use my brain a little more, and walk the exact way i drove in the morning, retracing my steps exactly (i had started off walking back to my car from work in a totally different direction, uptown instead of downtown to the lower street numbers), and i most easily found my car when i did the step retracing. literally, at first, i was walking in all different directions, without much thought ! LOL.

i'm glad you walked at lunch!

Jacky82020 on 11/06/2021:
Lol, Donk, been there, done that.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/06/2021:
LOL. i knew if i had given it more thought in the first place, it wouldn't have taken so long, LOL. i was grateful it wasn't towed due to a no parking sign ! LOL

Jacky82020 on 11/06/2021:
LOL!

Once someone did steal the 1956 Chevy. Probably told you all about it! Very traumatic, but the cops found it in the Home Depot parking lot a few weeks later. The thieves spray painted over the flames, but the cops recognized my poor car.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/06/2021:
you didn't tell me about that! terrible!

Jacky82020 on 11/06/2021:
It was taken from the auto transport that was supposed to move it from San Diego to Pennsylvania. Paid them 1K. Guy calls me the day we left, in big rented van with 4 dogs, 3 cats & 6 parrots. Said they weren’t liable, most people have enough insurance. I only had liability. Ruined my trip! This SD cop called everyday & said he had all the cops looking. A cop spotted it at the HD parking lot & the transport company shipped it out. Entire front spray painted blue. I got it off with lacquer remover. Took forever! Had to use Q Tips in some areas. Miserable experience! Could have been worse.

horn_of_plenty on 11/07/2021:
That’s an interesting story !!! Glad you got it back but sounds like a big fixer upper job for you !

Jacky82020 on 11/07/2021:
All’s well that ends well

11/5/21 Friday

This AM by work, I parked in diff area bc there was a road closure and managed to get slightly lost in the park in the AM. but got in 20 min walk, counted as 15 min.  added. the nice thing is that i have to get back to my car after work, so if that's the only walking i do today, it will be sufficient.

I will skip weights until this weekend - like a week off here and there that is good for you anyways.

(skipping any laundry this weekend).

11/7/21 Sunday

Prob visit parents for a morning walk followed by lunch; then back home to relax before the work week. :) Laying low on purpose this weekend.

Make another sautee of veggies but different mix of vegetables to include spinach which i didn't include last time.  I like a big pot of sauteed veggies to last most of the week :)

Make keto choc muffins - i have a package, it will just be a few; it's a mix that you add relatively few ingredients to. tried blueberry, needed more cooking last time, so will be sure to make muffins that cook up quicker and not just pour it in a tin to make it like a cake/loaf...

(skipping all laundry this weekend - just done Wednesday).

Do laundry today - so i can skip it again on the upcoming weekend :) / sorta eliminate a wash of the gp fleeces but letting them be used over 10 days, no just a week.

Donkey on 11/05/2021:
Yes, I have taken a week off of weights in the past, too, and it has been very beneficial.

I am thinking about taking a morning walk at work too, today. If I am able to start work early, then I might try to take a 10am walk, just around the block, which is about 10 minutes. If this happens, I'll be thinking of you!

horn_of_plenty on 11/05/2021:
I hope you did get it in - if not I wish you good weekend walking !

bearcountrygg on 11/05/2021:
I love the idea that you have a place to walk....But I have to admit...It scares me that you are walking alone in NYC and possibly in the dark...

Horn_of_plenty on 11/06/2021:
believe it or not, there are other people usually around...i am not usually completely alone for a long period of time...but sometimes in the dark i do not prefer to be there either...but the days are short...

thanks, Bear!

Jacky82020 on 11/05/2021:
I loved parking my car some distance from work & walking the rest of the way. Even landed my ‘56 Chevy a modeling gig! She was a pretty thing, all shiny black with classic flames.

horn_of_plenty on 11/05/2021:
i remember you told me that, very exciting and cool to happen to you!

horn_of_plenty on 11/05/2021:
i guess it was worth having a '56 Chevy :)

Brett on 11/05/2021:
A lot of relaxing. The best weekend plans.

I fully encourage you to take as much rest as you need. Seriously, ask yourself if you feel 100%, and if not - even if it's 95% - rest a little more before you do more. And I agree with a relaxing weekend. You can start up with walking and/or weights on the weekend, if you are fully recharged by Friday evening.

I hope you have a good day back at work!

horn_of_plenty on 11/04/2021:
Yes continuing to rest today and tomororw :)

Will write and comment more on the weekend too.

:-) thanks for your kind words

Jacky82020 on 11/04/2021:
14 SH in November! And the month is young!

horn_of_plenty on 11/04/2021:
yeah, i was like, i am SOOO cheating, but the truth is - i really was on my feet that long...i do hope to get in a lot of other hours in the month remainign tho...and not just get to the same hours as usual...can't wait to see the full outcome end of this month ;) haha...yeah, it's kinda cool to see that total on the 4th of the month! :)

Jacky82020 on 11/04/2021:
This may prove to be an excellent sunshiny month!

horn_of_plenty on 11/04/2021:
TRUE THAT! woohoo holler back girl! hahaha!

bearcountrygg on 11/04/2021:
I work on eating up things I'm not to fond of myself.....grew up in a household that did that and now it's a habit that sometimes frustrates me....usually makes me feel good not to waste food....but it is also why i often refer to myself as a human garbage can.....I keep doing that though....UGH?

horn_of_plenty on 11/04/2021:
But you don’t have to overeat those things - usually a human garbage can is those people who can keep eating everything and also past fullness which is something we can work on.

If I hate something I won’t eat it but knowing I paid money for the protein nut butter - and knowing it also is pretty good for me - I will def eat this. I find it easier to eat things I don’t love at work compared to home (I guess bc I have a huge selection at home.)

Donkey on 11/05/2021:
I hope you got to bed early :-)

11/3/21 Wed - Vacation day #11 (of 15 days, also 4 sick days left) will def take this day off afterworking 5am-10pm election day the day before mostly on feet :-D.

If you want to read a short piece on my experience yesterday as a poll working standing at the scanners, assisting votors in scanning their ballots, i wrote a little in a comment back to bear in my prior entry to this one :)

May not do everything listed, resting up my sore legs, body, voice:

DONE! Put money on laundry cards at housing since i have the day off - it's hard to go in person bc the hours are the same as my work hours and they prefer we go in person; rather han putting my laundry card in the door and having a worker return it back to us in a couple days by delivering it straight to my apt...

DONE!,picked up some treats and goodies too..Food shopping  to cover the rest of the week as well as the next week - pick up a few seltzers, also veggies for myself/pigs including couple onions, BANANAS, blueberries , eggs, bread/wraps, pb or a different type of butter, spray olive oil, alternative mayo or regular mayo...checking out what's available today...never really looked at the selection in supermarkets bc i do regular buy mayo or alternatives  (legs are sore, but will still go out for a little while to supermarket)

DONE! bank - get the remainder of cash to give dad - pay back for gp surgery since he paid as he picked up the pig that day (i was at work, he went for me since it was close to his home and brought the pig to me)...

DONE! with some - Clean gp cages (so i don't have to do on weekend?)

DONE! Do the fleece gp laundry; maybe a little extra of my own laundry so this weekend is simpler - also wore more fleeces this week mysellf and working voting - may wash all that......

MAYBE Have a good upper body workout this evening - no lower as legs do not need it right now.- iff i don't feel up to this, i'll do it TOMORROW - to decide later....

Make tuna salad with a can i have at home :); hardboil eggs?

DONE! shower tonight - with quick blow out of hair so i look good tomorrow at work :)

9am Breakfast: banana and coffee 150, two french toast stick eggo sheets 250, jelly 50, 450....

12-12:30pm Lunch:leftover lg greek salad 50 from weekend with feta cheese 250 and a liitle too much vinegar in the dressing 100 but good.,400... pretzels 200

4:30pm Snacks: some kombucha while shopping 50, 2 small cheesecakes made with greek yogurt, tasted GREAT. one plain and one chocolate, 10 each x2 . orange beer jelly (exactly what it tastes like!) on one of the cheesecakes, 50.

I think it's harder on the body than walking around. I'm so glad that you took today off to rest everything -- except that you DID get a lot done too!

YOU ROCK!

horn_of_plenty on 11/04/2021:
thanks, may write a little later about a funny thing that happened today...of course...coworker (young one with 3hr commute each way who is fast walker no issues with legs) couldn't believe i described the day as "challenging" and that i could be so sore! hahaha i tried to explain it was a lot for ME! haha

Last TOM - 10/19/21....

Currently reading a NYPL digital book called "The Energy Bus."  - it's a leadership book.

11/1/21 - Monday, November 1st :) - Typical work - walk 15 min before work...(got 10 min in, counting as 15) and will walk half hour by work, after work :) done...and then walked 15 min to drop off my rent once home ! an hour!

Lunch: healthy - took it back home, got focused on work in the afternoon esp bc i will be out for two days, :-D

1500.

11/2/21 Tuesday Election Day - Vacation day #10 - I willl work the 2 shifts (16 hours - all workers usually do) of election day, work starts at 5am-9pm/10pm  - but it's a change of pace and one day only..and most def closer to home than going to work - especially the commute home - hoping to drive, it will be just 15 min to get there, the next election district over just a little north of mine.

The New York City board of elections pays per hour $25, approx, to work those elections/pre-voting. And that salary is actually higher than my current job's salary.  I hope to work at the polls as a life-long tradition of community work, paid, close to home and something nice to do (and receive quite a bit of money for, that can be used/saved as needed). And for the next two years, it's a nice little supplement (not a big commitment, but something i can add in) to my fulll-time job.

The reason it's such a "supplement" is like i have mentioned, there's 10 early election days this year. so approx $200 a day for those days (they aren't as long hours as election day itself, adds up a lot - and is a lot of money). So, in future, I want to work a few of the days prior to election day if i get the opportunity bc it's a good chunk of cash, however, you look at it, even working election day and one additional day. it's quite a bit; generally simple work. why not.  And then, there's the Springtime primaries also that can be worked. Therefore, it's at least 11-12 days a year we are talking about occuring every single year. So, it's good to take that into account - and try to do it annually. I am not sure if there are early voting days in the Spring, i think it's just the general elections in November the comes with the 10 extra early voting days :)

no breakfast bc up at 3:45 too early and excitement of a different kind of day ....

Morning snacks gummies 150, butterfinger 100...250 total

1pm lunch tofu 100, slow cooker cauliflower leaves that taste just like cabbage 100, 2 Sheets each of 4 French toast sticks that come frozen from home was going to be breakfast 200. Banana 150 as I have a lot of gas from standing / moving but unable to poop in this junior high school. 550.

5pm dinner wanton soup lots of thick wantons x4 500 tbd and the crispy noodle chips 250? - 800 tops

drird jackfruit , seltzer back home relaxing

1750....

today was approx 13 hrs standing/pacing/walking after subtracting some time for sitting / eating / rest periods during work. My legs are sore the next day but it's humbling to do work standing for so long when you aren't used to it!

11/3/21 Wed - Vacation day #11 (of 15 days, also 4 sick days left) will def take this day off afterworking 5am-10pm election day the day before.

clean gp cages, do the fleece laundry.

Have a good full body workout today

maybe a good food shopping to cover the rest of the week as well as the next week - pick up some seltzers, also veggies for myself/pigs including couple onions, fruit, eggs, bread/wraps, pb or a different type of butter, spray olive oil, alternative mayo or regular mayo...checking out what's available.

Compared to tomorrow morning (Tuesday), today will be like sleeping in! At least you don't have far to drive.

Glad you got in a walk this morning, and great idea to walk after work too. A good way to start and finish your day :-)

horn_of_plenty on 11/01/2021:
THANK YOU for your support :-D

bearcountrygg on 11/01/2021:
You have a good walk just leaving your apartment and getting to your car....do you ever take the stairs instead of the elevator? You have a built in place to exercise right there.

horn_of_plenty on 11/01/2021:
the walk from apt to car is short. the 10 min is at work, whatever remaining time have after parking until i enter the trailer. I try to walk a little before sitting all day, by work whenever i have the extra time after the commute :)

that is true, i can start to take stairs more...to 9th floor is good change....ty for reminding me i can implement this....and that it will make a difference when done more regularly (stairs).

horn_of_plenty on 11/01/2021:
no, i do not take stairs now and it would be good to implement when i do not have much to carry up. it would def improve on calories and heart rate with a short burst of steps here and there.

Jacky82020 on 11/01/2021:
OMG! November! Gather ye Sunshine Hours while ye may, Hop

Horn_of_plenty on 11/01/2021:
I will <3

these past few months are flying like a blink of an eye. seriously. flying. bc the work / job is moving quickly, i think! (the job is a bunch of electrical projects..and i think it's moving very fast right now).

PlayingQuietly on 11/02/2021:
walking ! excellent

horn_of_plenty on 11/02/2021:
Yes on my feet :-) good for me to do work on my feet !!

Donkey on 11/02/2021:
I will be answering your comments to me. :-)

horn_of_plenty on 11/02/2021:
Good I will be reading them up tomororw while I rest on my couch at home and poop lol

Donkey on 11/02/2021:
Perhaps this day away from the office, making a noble contribution to our democracy, and Wednesday's day off, will help when you return to the office for work.

horn_of_plenty on 11/02/2021:
It all will. I can say this - the workers working at the scanners with me are exceedingly nice and kind people.

bearcountrygg on 11/02/2021:
Maybe it's the cauliflower leaves......

horn_of_plenty on 11/02/2021:
It happened before them - needing to poop since before lunch but I am sure they didn’t help - glad I had a banana !

happy-1 on 11/02/2021:
Don't burn yourself out working on your vacation. Try to save some time to do something good.

horn_of_plenty on 11/03/2021:
Lol need to rest my voice from talking a lot yesterday and my legs. Will be resting and do an upper body workout tonight - all the standing / pacing yesterday did me in - next time I’ll sit more at the job and take more breaks but it was good to do and work to my limit ;)

Jacky82020 on 11/03/2021:
Do you wear an activity tracker? I’ve had a simple Fitbit for years. Use for steps only, but as a few other functions

Horn_of_plenty on 11/03/2021:
i wish i did - if just for the steps ~

i don't usually wear one, so i wouldn't have a comparison...but i'm sure the steps would be at least a 10k.? maybe in the future. knowing the hours alone, i am so humbled as it's been YEARS since i stood that long in one day. even traveling, i don't wake up at 3:45am to start a day; or get home at 10:30pm from a day being a tourist. so, it was a really long, and productive (physically) day. def a memory prob for life what it's like to do it...and prob will do again as a physical challenge.

bearcountrygg on 11/03/2021:
Sounds like you had a good time yesterday.....sure was a nice break in surrounding!!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/03/2021:
yes, will write a little today. just taking it VERY easy today as yesterday was long day of standing, 13+ hours includes fully standing, also lots of speaking to votors, so my body has had a complete physical workout and is sore and ready to relax. it's humbling to do work on your feet for a prolonged period and see other people of other races and livings - doing the same - some with more ease than others; range of ages, and seeing people that can more easily do the standing work bc they are used to it; see others that needed more breaks, others that chose to almost "want/use" more breaks than they should have (only one person did this out of the 10 of us!). we were the group that stands at the scanners; keeps approx the same amount of votors equal over all the 6 scanners, and doing all the standing compared to almost everyone else that sat the whole time. my job was the absolutely most demanding of the day...and i am glad i was given that job...and cannot wait until my body heals (legs). may need to actually take more rest days for cardio to follow. but despite it all, i do not regret it. it was hard work for me, physically, and a challenge. in future i'd prob rest more sitting a bit more throughout the day - as to try to limit the strain on my body a little more with all the standing/talking. one guy working did less talking with votors and i may try that next time...he wasn't as hands on as most of us, saying less, and letting them figure it out by themseves with entering their 2 pages into the scanners, one at a time, but i think the hands on way is still the kindest approach. it was good. some of the people working did have physical jobs where they are more on their feet, most didn't , but all workers were "more fit" than the average population, overall NOT a lazy bunch, everyone a hard worker, a nice person, a humble person, a kind person. i have to say, there's no way i could regret yesterday. some were weird people or maybe "nicer" or a little different than the average citizen - but you have to be - to sign up for this type of job. overall, everyone got along, everyone joked, and it was what could be called an example of how teamwork leads to success and the ability for people of all different upbringings to come together for the good of society. i am not exaggerating.

bearcountrygg on 11/03/2021:
That sounds like an awesome opportunity.....I'm sure it was a lot of work on your feet but worthwhile. It will be something you look back on and be satisfied that you did....

Horn_of_plenty on 11/03/2021:
I am Bear. i think it was an honorable experience. thank you :)

Maria7 on 11/03/2021:
Wow, looks like you have been very busy!

Horn_of_plenty on 11/03/2021:
oh yeah...resting up big time today. very "baked" over here!!!

The vet said the pig looks good, yesterday, and should continue to gain his weight back. :) he said the antibiotics are prob the cause of all the diarrhea he had. he said that the bene bac gel i gave it was ok and if i want to keep using the probitic, it would be ok time to time (instead of wasting it).

10am Breakfast - leftover overnight oats from the two packets of blueberry oatmeal i made yesterday :) 120, banana 120, coffee 30...270-300

12:30 snack: two fun size Butterfingers 170

2:15pm light meal / eats two more of those bars 170, pineapple cottage cheese 100 (it's going to expire and i haven't been craving it, but will have it for the protein now), tbsp of the orange beer jam from the farm -was goooood 50 - very sweet

4pm eary afternoon while cooking: tastes of the ratatoille i made, very good. just peppers in two colors, summer squash, zucchini, garlic, olive oil, pepper. very good..just realized i may not have added salt. may just leave it that way. still tastes really good. 150

5:30 some more ratatoille, 50, then some of the greek food with bechemel cheese on top and mostly potato inside 300., leftover pita 150.

1450....

Today, I slept in till almost 10am. felt good about doing so, it's going to be a busy couple days after this, so i'm laying low today :)  I was also in bed by 9pm last night.

I plan to do some cooking of veggies - two dishes one will be a squash soup in the slow cooker - or ratatoille stove-top - DONE!

the other is SLOW COOKED cauliflower leaves (instead of cabbage, slow cooked cauli leaves with butter/boulion and spices) that are healthy for consumption rather than throwing them out - kinda like cabbage; i want to see how it goes. my dad gave me a whole bag full of them - he had bought a very large cauliflower at a farm and asked me if i wanted the leaves. DONE!

and i have tofu / and need to make boiled eggs as my proteins for the beginning of this week. I also have a ton of leftover rice to eat with these meals; and i want to see about freezing any leftover rice as well; before it goes bad. DONE!

Call Christine while chopping veggies...(i like to be doing something on my phone calls, especially when i've relaxed a lot leading up to them...)..caught up, DONE!

Do weights in the late afternoon - upper & lower full workout - next workout will be on Wednesday :) in progress around 5:30/5:45 :)

11/1/21 - Monday, November 1st :) - Typical work - walk 15 min before work...and probably just go home, bed early?

Make tuna salad with a can i have at home :); hardboil eggs?

Never heard of cooking cauliflower leaves. Let me know how it goes goes. I’m still stuck on my frozen Normandy Blend which contains cauliflower. Going through two 3 pd bags a week now. Matt eats some for dinner, but he also has meat & a starchy food like rice or potatoes. I’ve been pretty much vegan lately, Plenty of poops, all a very light caramel color. LOL Kinda latte. I know! Ew!

Horn_of_plenty on 10/31/2021:
LOL. you can bet i pooped all weekend. so good to release all that junk sitting in me since the beginning of the work week! ugh!

glad you are pooping, i know it feels good to not have all that built up in your gut!

i will say a little starch and meat can help you feel satisfied.

i do agree that protein is not needed to such a degree as even is recommneded for americans. i do agree with your posts about that...and do honestly think that even 1.5 ounces of meat (rather than 3 is it? that is suggested?) is fine for people of our stature. starch also helps bind all those veggies...a little can go a long way to keep you satisfied.....that's why i end the meal with starches, i eat them when i'm already somewhat full so that it's harder for me to binge on them.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/31/2021:
it's like free food...well it is free food, from my parents! excited to make them...will eat them like cooked cabbage...perhaps i will just toss them in the slow cooker and make them just like a cabbage recipe...looking up now...

bearcountrygg on 10/31/2021:
You cook cauliflower leaves.???? I didn't know they were edible.

Horn_of_plenty on 10/31/2021:
i googled them after my dad offered them to me again to give my pigs, but they are in the cruciferous family which isn't great for the pigs. so then i got to thinking to make them for myself...i googled making them and there were recipes and indicators that they are fine to eat! :)

Jacky82020 on 10/31/2021:
I’d like to keep my protein < 50 gms a day. Although the protein cycling at 25 wasn’t difficult. Thanks to all the cans of discounted nuts at Ollie’s.

horn_of_plenty on 11/01/2021:
i think >50 is too high and that mostly 25 is the amount needed?

Jacky82020 on 10/31/2021:
We voted by mail last week. Been doing that for last few years, Anyone can request an absentee ballot in this state now. Think before one had to be older or disabled. We used to walk 1.5 miles to this big church. Always group of older people working there. Always gained a few! The church ladies made & sold all these great deserts.

horn_of_plenty on 11/01/2021:
that's good...in NY State, you still need an excuse to vote absentee. they've included "covid pandemic" as an excuse the past 2 years.

there's a voting point in this election to remove "excuse necessary" absentee voting like you have an in your state. i voted to remove the need for the excuse :)

Donkey on 10/31/2021:
Sounds like you had a really nice day :-) I've never heard of cooking/eating cauliflower leaves, but when you compared it to cabbage leaves, then it made sense. Sure, why not? Do they taste similar, once cooked?

Well, if nothing else, your week ahead will certainly be interesting!

horn_of_plenty on 11/01/2021:
I'll let you know today when i eat them; i look forward to sleeping in on Wednesday!

Jacky82020 on 11/01/2021:
Most sources I see saying 50 gms protein is enough for our size. I should recheck.

 10/30 Saturday -

8:30am coffee and banana 150, some blueberry oatmeal 150. 300

11:30am snacks 2 chocs 100

12:30pm lunch was a nice meal with parents most of it was greek food takeout around 12:30pm veg soup 200 canned from pantry that dad made, bechemel covered eggplant potato Greek dish moussaka with parents small amount and peas 250-300, pita toasted 200, salad with some dressing 100...800 the salad also came with the greek food, didn't realize it would come with a salad hence the reason why i also had veggie soup. all was good, as i ate less of the heavy actual meal i ordered and i have lots of leftovers now in my fridge!

1200.....

5pm back at home, drinking some sweetened seltzer as i always do but was extra thirsty bc i didn't drink any most of afternoon running errands from like 3-5 and the lunch was salty i think...also didn't drink much at lunch or in the morning lol so i was thristy and couldn't wait to get home after i voted at the very close, nearby college (Queens College, where the early voting is held for my district). Also pear, kombucha 100...blueberries 100

7pm rest of dinner - 2 remaining veggie dumplings 250, small piece of the Greek veg pie I had for lunch 200, 1 keto pb cup ( thinking to buy more ) 100

1950

relaxed a little in AM having breakfast, used the bathroom which is a big deal as i do not always poop, at all, during the work week. my body then relaxes fully on the weekend and i have no issue. i have no issue with this schedule as it doesn't pose me any problems other than knowing that on the weekend i like to relax and be home saturday morning especially so my body can relax and do it was it has to do. growing up, stress always affected me, never like this but the commute and work situation seems to warrant it. i never, ever, had such a long commute in my life and do not plan to always have this commute, either :) so, i am ok iwth my body and situation - right now and for the next 1-2 years hopefully.

then drove to parents, we picked up greek food and i relaxed with parents a bit. then, i went for a half hour walk with my mom as i like to walk with parents when i can...it was a short walk so i could also make it to the vet

after lunch with parents, i drove to the vet around 3:30 i was there - .bring guinea pig back to vet...stitches out -vet said that the pig may have actually pulled them out as that's what many pets do! so perhaps they weren't the type that dissolve! who knows. he didn't clarify and i didn't ask for more info.

then, i made it today instead of tomorrow for Early Voting..polls were open until 5pm and i was there around 4:30. was really happy to get my voting out of the way and done instead of needing to do it tomorrow. tomorrow i'll prob be home, most of the day if not ALL of the day. will be relaxing before a very busy monday/tuesday to come in a couple days!

also, doing laundry today, getting it out of the way to free up tomorrow :)

Upper & Lower body strength

will do my workouts tomorrow.

Will Call Christine to say hello  tomorrow. (we don't talk much anymore, i couldn't talk the last time she called me, was busy and late already on a weeknight).

11/3/21 Wed - Vacation day #11 (of 15 days, also 4 sick days left) will def take this day off after doing election day the day before or the week will be extremely rough and way too stressful for me - like i wouldn't work election day if i didn't take the next day off!

I hope the pig gains weight. It’s nice spending time with parents. Enjoy.

horn_of_plenty on 10/30/2021:
I did ask the vet if he also thought the pig would gain weight again and he agreed, it should :)

Sounds like you got a lot accomplished yesterday! I'm glad that you had a nice visit with your parents.

That Greek lunch sounds delicious! And you have leftovers to enjoy!

How far away is the polling place you'll be working on Tuesday? I hope it's not too long of a commute!

Horn_of_plenty on 10/31/2021:
it isn't too far. I might drive - bc i am unsure how the parking will be - but i think i will check if there's a parking lot at the school (as school is closed on election day). if i can drive, it will be 10-20 min tops! if i take bus, it may be 25 min? it is close, the next election district after mine. :) it's basically a town next door to me :) i decided to text the coordinator to ask if there's spots as it would be better to drive bc it's so close than deal with waiting for a bus....we'll see if he responds :) It is a completely asian/hispanic community with like 5% white...so it will be an interesting day to be one of the minorities working there :) a good experience.
