Date update from Friday night: 

I kinda expected it not to work out....he was 34, I"m 27..he looked a bit older than his photos (we had never met in person before the date) and he arrived about 20-25 min late! So, the start was already downhill in my mind, but I don't hold a grudge and I let that all go pretty quickly.  In the meantime, I spent time talking to one of my girlfriends for the time he wasn't there.

We had coffee and had OK conversation.  He suggested a movie and it was across the street. At first, I debated it in my mind, because I knew I wasn't really interested in him beyond this date. But, I decided I hadn't seen a movie in awhile, he was paying (yes, i used him for a movie it seems) and I would go.

During the movie he says "since I have long arms, can i put my hand here (his hand on my knee)?" so i just laughed and said sure...i felt like i might as well give him that benefit. it really didn't matter to me. then, he asked me to hold my hand....in my mind none of this should have happened since i had just met and felt nothing towards him...but held his hand, which he seemed to enjoy. Again, I felt i'd just entertain him with the thought I was enjoying this all more than I was.  I figured he paid for me to see the movie anyway.

....THEN, he says "would it be alright if I kiss you?" well, Hel** NO! of course that's not alright! I just met him and it's not even the end of the date yet! so, hel* no! So i said, "Umm, I prefer to wait with that." And then,the movie gets to a point where the girl realises the guy may not be right, as she says so. that's when I  let go of his hand and say I needed a break for a bit! haha.

After the date, I felt awkward walking out with him as he looks much older than I, graying hair. I know I should always remain confident in myself, but I totally wasn't at that point. Then, I said I thought it would be time to go home. I showed him the direction back to his car, he offered to show it to me! I said, "oh, that's ok, i'm going to go the other way," and walked back to my car. No way would I sit in his car with him! who knows what he'd try!

He said he had a great time, texted me that to my phone when he got home. I didn't reply that night. then he called in the morning, suggesting we go hiking upstate (3 hours up) and that I should call him back. I texted him back and said I didn't think we had enough in common to continue dating but thanks for a fun night.

the end, that's the story of my date. he was a little weird and i was turned off.


breakfast: grapes 50, oatmeal and almond milk 190, yogurt 130: 370 :-)

snack: 2 coffees and bran 180

fruit: 50

soy chips: 150 and fruit 40 = 190

diner: fish and veggies 400

snack: coffee 90

snack: bar 220

total: around 1500, such a GREAT day. i'm sorta on a roll, but hungry right now. been staying up too late lately, like till 2-3am...

exercise: 3 mi and weights for 1.5 hours.



Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I think that's great that you actually told him you didn't feel the 2 of you had enough in common and just let the both of you move on. He's probably not used to dating an adult..... Hope you have a good day!

ewww.. dating... And there is nothing in my opinion worse than a movie date.. set in the dark not talking.. inless it is someone you don't want to talk to then there not so bad,,lol Sorry about mr touchy feelie,,,maybe the next guy, keep you head up, I didnt meet mr right till I was 30...

He sounds as if he might have been a little desperate, or maybe you are just an absolute knockout and he couldn't resist. A little bit pushy for a first date - I say "good call". If he had grey hair he would have probably been in his forties. Have a good day - I hope you enjoyed the movie.!!

I saw a play not too long ago called "Bad Dates". It was a one-woman show and really good. If you get a chance you should see it. Your post reminded me of it! Ha-Ha I agree with nothing ventured - nothign gained. Oh well.

happy labor day, day off for so many. i'll be at the beach for that late morning/early afternoon with my best friend.

snack: grapes 40

breakfast: oatmeal w/ almond milk 190, greek 2% yogurt 130: 320

lunch: tofu on bread 200, green pepper slices 20: 220

snack: ices 130

healthy large dinner: lots of steak 500? grilled veggies 150? salad 100: 750

may have a snack tonight :-) peach 80

total: 1550 or so.  GREAT....tofu and strawberries, final total 1650, good.

exercise: TONS of walking at the beach....like, 2 hours worth!

Progress as of today: 0 lbs lost so far, only 5 lbs to go!

overall good day.

spent doing a variety of things including teaching 3 lessons and visiting my grandma.

(3 day avg - 2240 or so.  = very good only because it's in a normal calorie range)

"work" - helping grandma, 3 hours including dinner...not really work...doesn't look good to write that, either...rather, family obligation, sounds bad too.

HUGE binge: tons of large cookies 420, biscotti 430 , honey mustard chips300?, peanut butter and jelly 400....1550, bread w. pineapple cc 350

3000 and full and hot and sweaty...should have exercised this morning...talking a half approach and applying for jobs.  ugh.

snack after gym: 200 -protein bar.

3200...and coffee when i meet up to go on a date tonight...yes, after this kinda day....

exercise: very hard and rough, hope i can be awake on the date....hour of elliptical, over an hour of weights, back, abs, pushups.

coffee 100

large tomato and peach: 180

 total: 3500 approx. today, not as bad as i thought it would turn out. glad it's not over 3500 and realizing that if i went to be thin, i will have to start thinking thin and stop giving in to these binges!

total: 1950, great.

exercise: 4 mi walk at the park, nice and HOT! :-)

teaching lessons tonight, about 10 of them.

Today I have a Bris ceremony to attend for a newborn baby boy....so i've pulled out some clothes to wear! hope they fit! lol.

breakfast: large apple 160, oatmeal flakes 50 on yogurt 130, peanut butter 100: 450 or so.

brunch: lox, tomatoes, bean salad, seasoned broccoli, coffee, diet coke, fruit: all probably around 350

snack:fruit 80

late lunch: tofu on bread 220, almond milk and bran 150, ice cream 400: 770 or so.

tsf:1650, good.

dinner: tofu sandwich 220, apple 100: 320

late cnack: egg on biscuit w.bran added 40: 340

total: 2310. ok.

OMG, last day of August. I seriously can't even believe it! My 28th birthday is in 9 days, can't believe that, either. Is there no way to take some years off so I can go back to being 21? If I had a choice, I'd go back to that age right now! 

....back to reality though. i don't have the choice to go back to being 21. So i have to make do with what I do have.

Friend begged me to go to the beach with her for a few hours today. I said YES. I figured today would be hard after yesterday's binging. that i did lots of job applications yesterday....so i will get some sun today. maybe read my book there...but that's kinda unsocial so i usually don't.

breakfast: large apple 160

brunch: small sandwich

late lunch: small sandwich

snack:chicken on a salad w. light dressing: around 300

snack before gym for one hour of elliptical: 250

heavy dinner: biscuit and egg white, glass of milk, bran crackers, plum: 550 or so.

1700, overall, good.

cardio at gym in the evening, plan is for an hour of elliptical (with a break of two when i get off, stretch, even sit down a moment)

I Agree... I'm 29 and PETRIFIED of turning 30... At least weekly I lust for college, when I was an undergrad and didn't have a care in the world:) But your right, we can't go back so we must make the best of the present and the future!

Don't regret turning 28. Enjoy it and realize how much more you know now vs. college years when we thought we knew everything.... Age is what you make it and I'm sure you can make great!

OK, today is not a good day. Don't beat yourself up HOP, you had five (at least) good day's in a row. Just pick yourself up in the morning, make a plan and start again. Remember that you haven't failed until you stop trying. It is the striving to be better that counts. Much love to you.

HOP I thought about you alot while I was away, I made sure to read your entries although sometimes not having the chance to reply or respond. You have been doing great lately and may I ask if it is at all possible to pick one "binge" item to keep in the house and the rest don't bring inside your house? I know it is still easy to go out to get them if you still wanted to but I think it would still help...I personally think that 138 lbs is healthy and you really are a healthy eater but until you clear your house of temptations you are sabotaging all of your hard work and efforts. We all want you to succeed my friend :)

Good Morning Gals! I hope you are all doing well and enjoying weather like I have, on the East Coast. So beautiful and not a cloud in the sky all weekend. A major change from last weekends full washout!

Breakfast: bran and almond milk 120, fruit 100, plain 2% Greek yogurt 130: 350, very filling I must add!!

Snack: tofu on thick slice of bread: 250

Snack: Medium iced coffee w. skim milk and 2 equal 100

Lunch: egg on biscuit w. bran added in 320 or turkey sausage eggwhite flatbread.

Dinner: 2 servings tofu on 2 slices whole grain bread, red pepper 480

Snack: greek yogurt w. chocolate mix added in, so good! 180, oatmeal flakes on top 40, big apple 140: 360.

total: 1860 = good day.

My legs feel like jello as of late. Lots of exercise, but not overboard by any means...but apparently too much for me...bc i can't seem to get back to feeling strong in my lower body. anyway, off for a morning walk at the park!

also exercise by a nice walk at the beach...followed up by a walk at the park soon.

Yes, I am on the eat coast and there wasn't a cloud in the sky her either!!!! LOL Must be a coincidence - there must be a point in time during your Autumn and my Spring when everyone is happy with the weather!! Enjoy it why you can and be careful not to overdo the walking, we want you in one piece.

I just buy a can of chickpeas (400g - so that's 1 pound),1 grated carrot, 2/3 cup wholegrain breadcrumbs with herbs, 2 eggs, beaten, pinch of chilli powder, salt and pepper. Mash chickpeas and combine with everything else and form into round patties (like hamburgers only thicker). I fry them in a little olive oil.
