happy-1 on 06/28/2020:
Sounds very very happy

Horn_of_plenty on 06/28/2020:
Ty happy, yes a relaxing good day :-) xo

Donkey on 06/29/2020:
Does your paralegal class start today or next week?

Sounds like you had a lovely day. I find it difficult to sit down to read a book. It originally just isn't the right book, right now.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/30/2020:
Paralegal course has started :)

I'm going to try to do more of it / ahead of time to help me...we'll see if that's possible as the course takes a LOT of time to read / do the assignments.

so happy it's started :)

--------------------------------------------------

online class for project Managment last class that was on hold today 9-2pm. Then i will finish reading a part of a book for paralegal class that starts Monday....

---------------------------------------------------

will bike around with ricky later this evening. Simple day.

___________________________________

seems i'm going to have to deal with TWO courses at the same time. :( the online project managment advanced class may start in a couple weeks (didn't expect it to start up so soon!) and the paralegal will start Monday.  I am excited for the paralegal, but not so much for the advnaced Project Managment (just finished the intro course today). but i MUST take it as it's a course for what i'm doing now....i don't like the course because it involves doing an intricate project! i don't want to do a hands on project, it's not more forte at all. some people taking the class actually open up a business or store. that's not my reason to take it other than to gain more experience in project management and have it on  my resume....but i will get that too thankfully.

two courses won't be so bad if i weren't working, but i do have the feeling i'll be doing the courses and working all at the same time at some point. LOL. it is what it is. at least i had some really nice time off during some of the quarantine with sleeping in and eating nice things. have to go "back to work and class" at some point....

Progress as of today: -5 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 06/27/2020:
Oh yuck. Wood flavoured! Good luck on the class!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/27/2020:
yup, it was called apple OAK! pure oak gross.

bearcountrygg on 06/27/2020:
Yeah....don't drink trees!!! LOL........I'm sure you will be able to handle both classes and work...it will take some planning but it is do-able. Maybe they should have named that kombucha old oaken bucket....now that would be a turn off...LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 06/27/2020:
I couldn’t believe how much oak flavor and how the apple flavor wasn’t even distinguishable!!!! I didn’t even drink it for a long time as it sat in my fridge and when I thought it could be decent and time for me to drink it today, I was so wrong! I think sticking with the fruitier flavors will be best for me !!!

It’s nice with HINTS of oak but this as you say was the whole tree !

Donkey on 06/27/2020:
That's rather interesting about the other project management class potentially starting up soon... I see why you are taking and agree with your reasons.

That sounds like a heavy workload IF you go back to work, too. Well, let's see how it pans out. At least you're not starting EVERYTHING all on the same day!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/27/2020:
The workload will be a bit unagreeable with my schedule if / when I go back to work.

I’m actually thinking to ask Ricky to help me, we’ve already discussed it, with a project to do for this advanced class.

I’m seriously only doing it because it’s the right thing to do but I’m nervous as heck to take the class plus we will be presenting them (our final project) she said :( really not happy about the class but it can be good for resume.

happy-1 on 06/28/2020:
What was the kombucha flavor supposed to be?

Horn_of_plenty on 06/28/2020:
Apple oak. No taste it apple. Overpowering of oak.

Thank you, definitely wanting to maintain those healthy habits !

happy-1 on 06/26/2020:
I love the idea of your guinea pigs hanging out on your terrace....I picture them in cabana wear.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/27/2020:
That would be cute indeed !!

grannyannie on 06/27/2020:
Good job! Wish I could be ambitious!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/27/2020:

Donkey on 06/27/2020:
I too love the idea of the guinea pigs on the terrace. I hope they enjoy it!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/27/2020:
Outr first idea wasn’t strong enough to keep guinea pigs safe bc it’s plastic and too flexible so we realized we made a mistake and need a tighter and sturdier metal ! Oops !

An evening walk sounds lovely!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/26/2020:
Evening walk was spectacular ! We are loving the cold breeze walks !

bearcountrygg on 06/26/2020:
LOVE pizza....and always end up drinking a lot of water...and then blowing up like a balloon the next day....but it is SOOO worth it!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/26/2020:
I don’t love pizza as much as you :( but it did satisfy me yesterday !

Thinkpositive on 06/26/2020:
Pizza is always a bad decision for me. I start out thinking that I can eat just one & then end up eating 3. Didn’t used to be such a problem for me but now I can plan on a 1-2 lb gain.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/26/2020:
Pizza in general is the same way for me as you - I can count less than 5 times a year that I eat store bought fresh pizza ! Doesn’t work for me at all either !

happy-1 on 06/26/2020:
Pizza is this thing... you eat a slice... then the next day, you want more... And eat two slices.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/28/2020:
Yup! No good for me !

You should have a very good grasp on the school work when it starts...GREAT!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/24/2020:
Yes it totally appears as of now (things can change) that I may be home another month, and if so, I want to go further ahead if i can with the class (if possible) so that god bless when I am working, it will be easy to manage the course ....we will see !

grannyannie on 06/25/2020:
Good to get a head start. Well done.

I need both a haircut and new glasses. Mine got scratched and it's very annoying.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/25/2020:
With the glasses, I was fitted for them right before quarantine and was waiting to pick them up these 3 months lol! And the haircut was a trim with a lot off in the back so my neck stays cool in the summer :)

KathyBlue on 06/25/2020:

ill finish my preliminary first week of reading for the paralegal course and even start on the 2nd week :)

Progress as of today: -5 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 06/23/2020:
How are you finding the coursework? You always seem to keep up with your workouts!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/23/2020:
Right now I just can’t fathom losing fitness while out of work so bc I am NOT working and not busy, I do them ! :-) sometimes I find some kind of challenge to get it in, but mostly not !

The coursework so far is lots of reading, but it’s easy than doing physics or chemistry no doubt! I am not memorizing the material but I am reading through it all.

I haven’t received the assignments - if I had them, I would also do them now - the course starts on the 29th, so I will keep reading and probably going ahead of the course if I can, but obviously waiting till I receive the assignments for that part :)

innerpeace on 06/23/2020:
Lots of reading for you! I hope you enjoy the subject matter or it will be very painful. HB to Ricky.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/23/2020:
It is decent subject matter just def a lot In one shot so I will not be able to remember it all - but that’s ok right now - I will make sure to do the work as well as I can especially while I’m out of work on temp unemployment.

bearcountrygg on 06/23/2020:
Will all of your exams be online too? I took some online college classes and loved them....but did have to go there for exams....a few assignments were online and having the reading material there to look at does help sometimes.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/23/2020:
The exams will all be written - essay or long paragraph type and also taking part in some online class discussion! Additionally, there will be two assignments that have to do with writing up a couple types of forms / documents that paralegals have to write ....it is all written / documents. No multiple choice tests - so no reason to do poorly on my part :)

Donkey on 06/23/2020:
Did you vote today? :-)

I applaud you for reading ahead. If something doesn't write make sense now, it may later when you get the assignment.

If you have the opportunity to participate online with the class/professor in a chat or bulletin board posting thing, do so!

I've come to realize that of all the friends I've kept in touch with from paralegal school, I'm the only one who is still a paralegal....

Horn_of_plenty on 06/24/2020:
Same thing when I went to X-ray school I’m not sure everyone used the certificate after including myself! It’s great you actually are working in the field !!!!! Go you!!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/24/2020:
Yes, I voted :)

Yesterday was a good Father's Day. Now just back to it. Will have a phone interview for a somewhat undesirable job at 10am. Was supposed to have another interview at 9 which moved to 9:30 and then I cancelled it bc the caller was from the UK and I was having trouble understanding his words and also considered he is not representing the small job market I am looking to work in. So I got off the phone with him....

breakfast extra oatmeal 200, raisins and almond milk 200. 400.

Snack  tbd....kombucha for now 50 4 cookies 150

2:30 lunch leftovers bbq frank 200 and bun 150. 350. Some chips I think. 150.

4-4:30 strawberries 50 and cookies 150

5pm homemade fries out of the extra potato I had that needed to be cooked ! 150?

6pm dinner salad 150, one meatball 100, fries 200. 450, wine small amount 100

9:30 shortbread cookies 200

2200 more of an indulgent day ;)

.........................................

phone interview was good and I had enough knowledge to get the job and do well at it - but it is lower paying and non union so I am holding off on it. Trying to stay in the union bc of the huge perks with benefits and a pension when I retire based on years in union. Trying to stick with union as long as I can for now. Courts are also union jobs but not hiring in the near future yet. So I am trying to stick with union for another 5 years or so.

did weights yesterday so today is only some light cardio. Walking and maybe the bike if I speak to French friend who just signed a lease for a new condo!

late morning - 20 min on stepper & phone call :-) maybe some more walking tonight around 7 with ricky when it cools down  - it's a sunny 90f today and so I'm staying home & reading, doing work for the class that starts June 29...

Progress as of today: -5 lbs lost so far, only 3 lbs to go!

bearcountrygg on 06/22/2020:
Sounds like you have lots going on......There definately are union perks!!

Horn_of_plenty on 06/22/2020:
Yes I knew that some on here would totally understand me ! Pension....

Yes I got enough going on to stay occupied...hopefully things on my job front will look clearer in a few weeks, maybe not !

Glad the interview went well! But it's too bad that it's not a union job. I think you want to hold on to that.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/23/2020:
Yeah, I will hold onto working for the union for now.

I no longer have any objective to run, too many injuries. It’s nice to walk !

KathyBlue on 06/21/2020:
What are you reading? :)

Horn_of_plenty on 06/21/2020:
Books for assignments for a paralegal course I am taking online. It’s a short course (3.5months) and will end mid October :-) I figure it’s a helpful certificate to help me in future job market / if I change jobs.

Donkey on 06/21/2020:
Not only will this course be helpful if you change jobs, it will also help you a lot personally. I learned loads about contracts and wills & trusts, that I use for my own FYI.

Horn_of_plenty on 06/21/2020:
Yes I do think so...it is good for now to do while still not working.

It will take some time to finish this course but I know it’s worthwhile right now.

I appreciate your kind thoughts

Whoa - serious flashbacks to my schooling days! I loved contracts and torts -- civil law all the way for me. Torts was hard, but I loved the challenge.

Legal research was a challenge, but I think I just needed more of it. I've never used it after school, but that could easily be a full-time job -- doing legal research for an attorney or a judge.

The course sounds very comprehensive - and that's what you want. You want to be able to see a document or hear a discussion or receive a directive and know what it is and what to do with it.

I’m so glad you approve of the course ;) it’s def a good beginning and will be a wonderful certificate to have :)
