Yes :-) tasty too!

They make you call in for jury duty? Here they tell you to show up at 8AM and then you have to wait around for hours unless you’re selected. I was an alternate once. Boring! Wasn’t allowed to sit in on the deliberations, but had to wait around until they were done. Too bad. I woulda hung the jury but they acquitted a rapist.

horn_of_plenty on 05/06/2021:
We still wait in person. Lol, but we call in additionally!

Lol you are too funny !

Donkey on 05/04/2021:
I took Business Law over the last summer that I was enrolled in my paralegal program, too. It was an interesting way to spend the summer.

The court administration class through CUNY sounds very interesting!

Do you sometimes take spontaneous walks just because it's so beautiful out? Or is consideration of your legs/ankles always at the forefront? (and maybe add fatigue in addition to legs/ankles)

horn_of_plenty on 05/04/2021:
That Business Law class is prob one of the best in terms of learning about "real world" business issues I'd think? Believe it or not, for getting a Masters (and maybe even a bachelors?) in Business, Business Law is ALWAYS a class that is taken - i was looking at the course lists...it's always mentioned. So, i'm happy to take it this summer, instead of Victim Advocacy (which i can read about on my own, not pay $400 to take - i've decided).

I've decided to pay for things that are more difficult to teach oneself...Victim Advocacy i can easily read about and it really is not a class i need to pay for, let's be honest ;)

maybe i'll take the court administration class on it's own, if i can...before anything else, after the Business Law.

I will see if i can sign up with the CUNY program at John Jay just for the Court Administration 3 credit course for January or February, whenever their semester starts for Spring next year.

I do take semi spontaneous walks. just when i'm very tired in terms of fatigue or my legs/ankles bother me i'll rest.

yeah - i only rest when i feel fatigue in my body or leg/ankle pain - but i do not really rest before pain comes! only after.

horn_of_plenty on 05/04/2021:
you never know with the colleges - sometimes you can be "unmatriculated" i think is the word... and take something on it's own...and sometimes there's a limit on how many classes you can take on your own before they expect you to be a student signed up for a degree program. I think the limit with CUNY is 3 classes before declaring a degree. i have to check. I may just try to take 3 classes of the most significance to me, no cert or degree...just the 3 best courses (that would have been part of the degree i want at John Jay, but stop at 3 courses.) still thinking about how i want to both challenge myself - but also not overwhelm myself

i still do not think it's in my best interest to take courses without having breaks between them. I know i do not want to do a Masters if it involves studying constantly for 3 years straight, it will be too much to handle.

horn_of_plenty on 05/04/2021:
thank you, i'm mixing it up a little bit as well as using leftovers, like the egg muffins by Jimmy Dean, that i had in my freezer. so happy to see them used and to enjoy them also at lunch today.

horn_of_plenty on 05/04/2021:
those egg muffins should be satisfying - protein and some fat.

Yum. Egg muffins. I need to get my butt up and eat something.

they are Egg Bites by Jimmy Dean - extremely filling very fatty/salty/protein

Lookahead - Monday, 5/3/21:

Will aim to keep the week moderate, as to not be too worn out by the end of it as i have my shot Friday evening and a potential walking tour on Saturday AM, unless I do happen to feel too sick to attend, which obviously i'll stay home if that does happen to me on Saturday AM...

Lower body strength AM - DONE!

Review work assignments before starting work, been a couple days since i last worked! lol  ;)...soon...good, DONE.

Eats: banana & coffee 150, Clif choc brownie bar 250 (opting for simple breakfasts these days for convenience). 400., extra coffee 50.

snack: 9am already up on my sour gummies, real gummies 100, one serving only.

snack 2: bbq flavor almonds. 100, healthy.

lunch: pad thai by Amy's frozen meal, with tomatoes that should be OK in the fridge hopefully from this weekend here at work...500, 2 tasty clementines 100 tops. 600. still sorta hungry. may drink my other diet drink in the fridge, can of Mountain Dew i bought on Friday.

snack: chocolates, little stale and not good. not sure - may throw out later the rest. tastes like soap - i think bc it was in an incense bag previously. 100

dinner: planning on some eggplant that i had ordered from chinese place, needs some sauce taken off....maybe in a toasted wrap or with white rice? with some chicken on side. or eggplant on the side with a grilled cheese wrap. i should be careful not to eat too much volume / fiber as TOM is coming and it will be awful to be very bloated / blocked up!...we'll see tonight what i eat, i def do not need to pick up anything :) leftover eggplant, chicken salad, 1.5 servings nachos, small amount fruit, half a spiked lemonade. Total around 700-750

2050-2100, good. Did do a little extra walking today.

I May add in a 20 min walk going home during my commute, but i am short on sleep from last night so i'll go home to rest mostly tonight and that is it....i do not think i'm up to the 20 min walk, i think i'd rather go home right back to bed after dinner. very tired day.

Clean up fridge a little at home...throw out the old fries, etc.

i noticed (your plum and banana)...there is something nice about the sugars in the AM. :) another reason why i have been enjoying pancakes.

lately, i cannot do much in the form of meat/eggs in the AM.

Donkey on 05/03/2021:
That's a really good point about keeping the workweek lighter so that we can make it through. I think that's one reason why I stopped going to the gym during the week. It makes for a long day.

horn_of_plenty on 05/03/2021:
yes, when i was really new in the industry i am in now, with extra overtime all the time, i was VERY, very tired on Fridays and i would always need a lot of the weekends just to rest. it felt awful.

i am trying to become better and better and becoming moderate so that weekends can be more and more enjoyable; and not just for resting.

Lookahead: Sunday, 5/2/21:

I still might change my mind in the future, but for now:

I have given more thought to getting another actual degree, and my thinking still yields a big, fat NO, that it's not a good idea.  I will continue with my study plan above, with some worked-in breaks between courses, and then stop with the courses by next Spring - and stick wtih reading and other things that are less expensive tools and ways to challenge myself.  I like to think of taking these courses as the same i'd think of a vacation...that they are very helpful, wonderful, enlightening - and done in MODERATION!

For what i want in life, which is not necessarily to be an administrator or manager myself, and to simply get into the courts, advanced degrees beyond what i have  done in the paralegal are def not necessary.  and for me to get anther master's, with how i opt to pay it, it's around 15k, or more,  and it's a waste of my savings. it's not the right decision for me, at least now, when i'm not making much money and i'm not looking to get a job that pays a high-end salary.  So without getting a high-end job, the money paying for anther complete Masters degree will never come back to me full circle.

So, any and every course I take, will be my complete decision to take & I will not need to take ANY course that I do not want to - just because it's part of a degree requirement.

9:30am currently at the vet and waiting to get Ivermectin shots for (2) guinea pigs, AM, I left at 8:45am to get there early since there's a line always at the vet (it's walkin only, no appts, which seems to work quite well!)....waiting in car, vets come out to take in the animals bc of Covid - a great system actually - DONE!

Go to supermarket near vet quickly bc I will leave the pigs in my car - fruit, veggies for myself/pigs, (lettuce, 1 of carrot, 2 peppers, extra bagged greens for me check, wraps or bread, granola bars, clementines, berries, grapes? frozen food area...see about frozen veggies / other food for cooking at home..., got a lot of snacks since it's a huge supermarket compared to many in Queens, with many more food choices :) DONE!

Do any laundry that i didn't do friday night when i did a ton including some clothes i had ordered but were used so they especially needed to be washed, clean Guinea pig cages :) - i cleaned the cages halfway friday, that should be enough i think for the whole week, plus i'm going to experiment with puppy pee pads - put a couple down on top of the fleeces today..DONE!

upper body exercises, save lower body for Monday AM.

prep / think about lunches / meals for the work week.....decided to buy a couple Amy's brand pad thai frozen meals to have with lunch this week as a nice change of pace. i'll eat at least one for lunch this week & that's an easy prep day - just stuffing a frozen meal in the microwave.

 Eats:

700 so far before noon, indulgent breakfast; including a banana i had at midnight last night when i woke up from falling asleep on the couch and was slightly hungry as well as feeling some light pain in my right thigh (typical/close to that time of month also). it helped me fall back to sleep.

Noon light snacking on another leftover and last of the package mix choc chip ls choc chips i added from breakfast, some gummes lifesaver sours 100, and a can of the spindrift very low cal drinks (been ordering my drinks of seltzers now on amazon as it's become an annoyance to shop for in the supermarkets since i commute during the week it means i must do it weekends, anyways, for now i'm ordering them on amazon mostly.

1-1:30pm lunch: leftover cauliflower crust pizza 400, low cal spindrifts,  package of golden berries from supermarket 100

2:30pm iced coffee 20, animal crackers 80. 100

5pm while up doing laundry - spiked strawberry lemonade, great 100, and a chocolate 50. 150.

phone call, unplanned with friend. 1.5hrs oops

7:45 dinner healthy chicken salad 300on wrap 100. 400; rest of the spiked drink, very good for 100 cals with added stevia.

1/2 a spiked drink more, during exercise later at night. 50

2000.

No point getting another master if it’s not cost effective.

When I taught public school most teachers had masters and some had a EdD. Pay scale based upon degrees and seniority. I began with a PhD, so didn’t have to play that game, but I woulda, especially if I began early in the career and stuck with it like most did. These BS colleges offered the most unbelievingly simple & asinine degrees for teachers. Like high school!

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
I WISH it were cost effective and I KNEW it would be needed for my future. I just can't take so much money, stress myself to study for 5 years part time to get the degree, and be out that money never to see a return by getting a higher paid job that would have needed it. I will just study what I can to help myself and move forward with what i do know i can do. :)

In NYC schools, the degrees and requirements are not like what you wrote above. Certs are very intricate in NYS for teachers, highest quality compared to the rest of the nation.

Jacky82020 on 05/02/2021:
You’re doing the smart thing re another degree.

I will check how NYS school pay. You seem to be talking about certification vs pay scale. idk. Teacher’s Unions are similar in most areas and notoriously base pay on seniority. Plus course work. Very often the laziest, worst teachers make the most money. And can’t be fired unless they commit a crime, like molestation or theft etc.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
there's a LOT of good teachers...the bad ones are minority, not majority. there are bad apples everywhere, trust me!!!...

Jacky82020 on 05/02/2021:
Upon quick perusal. NYS Pay scale similar as in California. Says new teachers with a masters start at 65K. Not nearly that hi when I taught, but it was 15 yrs ago.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
yes, that's basically correct. good pay. good job. NYC pays well. not all districts in the state of NY pay well, prob upstate in the "boondocks" doesn't. but all Long Island, NYC, Westchester, and even Hudson valley and others pay the highest in country.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
I know teachers my age, who even at age 35, were making over 100k bc of stipends. maybe even 100G by the time they were 30, depending on luck/district/extra curriculars. most didn't make that much by 30, but a couple did being in the right place/right time.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
others were making around 90k by the time they were in their low-mid 30s. not bad. not bad. for a job where you aren't required to WORK in the summertime!

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
compared to my teacher friends, i'm in "dire poverty" at this point.

but i cannot look and compare, although it is that tempting. i can only do what i can with my life, and build it, not looking back at teaching, last i did it 15 yrs ago. no time to look back anymore.

I have some animal crackers that I've been eyeing too.......I love those things.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
they are quite tasty. a nice, blander snack...goes with a lot of things. easy on digestion :) bought a huge tub of it.

Jacky82020 on 05/02/2021:
Wow, never heard of any 35 making a 100K even if they did summer school etc But I quit in 2004

Always considered it a myth teachers are underpaid unless it’s really different in some rural areas

My cop nephew was making over 100K in San Francisco in his mid thirties, lots of overtime

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
yes, some districts on Long Island pay huge salaries, i would know, i know people and the salary schedules can all be looked up online, including sometimes knowing what an exact person (with their name) makes in that district. i have looked.

in rural areas/states, many teachers are underpaid. it's not like LA / NYC/NYS everywhere...nothing's equal.

even certain cops in rural areas do not make near what your nephew makes even without OT.

i find cops can make more than teachers even earlier in their careers.

that's great your nephew is doing well. i'm sure if he advances to any higher positions, he'd make even more (like investigator/detective, etc)

Donkey on 05/02/2021:
I agree that, for now, for where you're at, there's no need to pursue another degree. Let's see what happens with the court job, and then your path might become clearer.

Also, you mentioned this last week, but classes like bookkeeping or QuickBooks (more bookkeeping) might be more beneficial to/for you with less cash spent. That is to say, you might even get greater returns on classes like that.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
maybe a bookkeeping class, maybe just do something fairly free online using youtube, but it's hard for me to push myself when i do not put money down.

i have NO financial classes in my educational background, tho it's unsure whether i'll need them.

of course, it could help me now...i should see if there's any course very related to what i do now...maybe...something about budgeting/retainage/project management i'll see.

Donkey on 05/02/2021:
Now I remember what I wanted to say to you, too --- Oh I hear you about missing out on work with jury duty. Would no one carry your workload if you were out? Does your work literally sit there until you come back? Because if that's the case, that makes taking any kind of decent vacation very discouraging.

My library jobs were like that, but it was no big deal because those were relatively stress-free. My paralegal jobs were nothing like that -- so time-sensitive. The week I left 1 hour early to get the COVID shot, 2 lawyers blew one of my files to bits. Unreal...

Horn_of_plenty on 05/02/2021:
i would miss out on learning what changes are made on projects, i would fall behind, and a lot of work wouldn't be done. i would just fall behind. not as stressful as your job, but i would still fall behind. there isn't anyone to do my job besides the VP i work for...then he wouldn't do his work...if he were doing mine...

Date TBD: ivermectin shots for other two guinea pigs for mites so I can in the future house all guinea pigs together (other affected guinea pig's skin has healed and hair begun to grow back now) ...just need time to do it without other weekend plans too bc it gets to be too much for me if it's a lot of running around and no relax time!

Fall 2021 Business Law: studying Business Law using the adv paralegal option course will be cheaper than studying it the other way - Business Law at a college at the bachelor or masters level course. Thnking to start this around October 2021.

Winter / Spring 2022 Prof Cert in Management:  4 month program, online, Notre Dame University. It will be taught by Notre Dame instructors and there is no current waitlist - the courses start monthly and it's a total of 2 courses, each 2 months. Thinking to start this around New Years January 2022.

Lookahead! - Saturday, 5/1/21: NYC Park Restoration Stewardship 10am-Noon, Alley Pond Park meeting at Adventure Course Parking Lot, excited for this!! And it's closer to home compared to the last few places i've gone to for volunteering.

so for the volunteering,..we actually got an hour guided tour thru the forest just walking/looking at plants, then 45 minutes of actual volunteering! talk about amazing!..2.5 overall from start to actual leaving the park - hours in the sun total.

i met really, really nice and interesting people - couple librarians in the school system, an asian woman who was 50 and looked 40...so healthy...and talked to various, really inspiring and lovely people who like to be outside, outdoors and with nature.  this time volunteering was so productive (and FREE) and the best way to have spent the morning.

Home rest of the day to relax; anything else tbd  :-D

breakfast: made two pancakes 250 with lily's choc chips low sugar  120, coffee 30, ....400

snacks chocolates 150 during/after volunteering, later back at home finished the rest of the pancake above and also some berries 50.

1:30 lunch at home: chunk white meat chicken with some sauce (chunk chicken salad is what it is) from nice coworker 250, wrap 100, chopped salsa added in wrap 50. 400. healthy :) kombucha that i also had at breakfast 50, real sugar sour gummies 100.

snacks gummies in the form of a few extra gummy teen vitamins (nice and sweet lol) 50, low cal spindrift fruit drinks 50, dried fruit 100, chocolate 100

5pm cheeze-it crackers 200, very hungry afternoon

dinner - food i have at home - half another tasty keto pizza 400, salad w olive oil 100, strawberries 50...550

2200. somewhat more indulgent, healthy.

Sunday, 5/2/21:

I have given more thought to getting another actual degree, and my thinking still yields a big, fat NO, that it's not a good idea.  I will continue with my study plan above, with some worked-in breaks between courses, and then stop with the courses by next Spring - and stick wtih reading and other things that are less expensive tools and ways to challenge myself.  I like to think of taking these courses as the same i'd think of a vacation...that they are very helpful, wonderful, enlightening - and done in MODERATION!  For what i want in life, which is not necessarily to be an administrator or manager myself, and to simply get into the courts, advanced degrees beyong what i have in the paralegal are def not necessary.

9:30am currently at the vet and waiting to get Ivermectin shots for (2) guinea pigs, AM, I left at 8:45am to get there early since there's a line always at the vet (it's walkin only, no appts, which seems to work quite well!)....waiting in car, vets come out to take in the animals bc of Covid - a great system actually

Get gas on LI on the way home, it's usually cheaper - don't need it.

Go to supermarket near vet quickly bc I will leave the pigs in my car - fruit, veggies for myself/pigs, (lettuce, 1 of carrot, 2 peppers, extra bagged greens for me check, wraps or bread, granola bars, clementines, berries, grapes? frozen food area...see about frozen veggies / other food for cooking at home...

Do any laundry that i didn't do friday night when i did a ton including some clothes i had ordered but were used so they especially needed to be washed, clean Guinea pig cages :) - def some to do..

upper body exercises, save lower body for Monday AM.

prep / think about lunches / meals for the work week...pick up food while out or from supermarket....??...

Monday, 5/3/21:

Will aim to keep the week moderate, as to not be too worn out by the end of it as i have my shot Friday evening and a potential walking tour on Saturday AM, unless I do happen to feel too sick to attend, which obviously i'll stay home if that does happen to me on Saturday AM...

Lower body strength AM

Review work assignments before starting work, been a couple days since i last worked! lol  ;)

Eats:

Friday, 5/7/21:second dose covid-19 vaccine after work.

Saturday, 5/8/21:NYC Walking Tour of "High Bridge".  Will take subway in. It was $30 but it's bringing me a learning experience of a place i'm not familiar with and 1.5 hours of exercise. Bring it on!....taking a chance on this, the day after my shot the evening before. I don't want to miss this tour & can relax Sunday as Mom knows i'm getting a shot on Friday night as well.

Sunday, 5/9/21 parents know i'm getting the shot Friday night before this...i already gave my mom her mother's day gift on a previous weekend, 4/17/21...so, i do not plan to see my mom this weekend.

Friday, 5/14/21 - call in to see if I have Jury Duty in the next week starting Monday, 5/17/21

Sunday, 5/16/21 - get together with my good, loving (Deaf) Cousin and friend that studied Sign lauguage for a fun, sign language day and good times.

Thursday, 5/27/21: leave early from work @ 3pm - Gyn appointment near my home - edit timesheet, dock an hour - maybe try to make up the hour on other days, half hr extra? tbd.it's near the holiday for Memorial Day, so i might have an easier time making up an hour with having Monday coming off.

Friday, 5/28/21:

Monday, May 31st - Memorial Day Holiday !

Saturday, 5/29/21: 9:45am near my home - MNR Vaccine 2nd dose (measles - do it every 10 yrs)

Sunday, 5/30/21:1-4pm Queens Farm Volunteering on the County Farm!

Monday, June 28th: Victim Advocacy Adv Paralegal Course Begins, 6 weeks in length.

For where you're at right now, with paralegal and court job aspirations, it would be so cool if you got called for jury duty.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/01/2021:
it would, except my boss would be so aggrivated as my work would PILE up...so, i have never been called for a case, just to show up and potentially be picked always...

...it's ok if i don't ...things like this can be watched on tv.

i'm with you, it'd be cool, but not the right timing at all with the job i have now.

Horn_of_plenty on 05/01/2021:
i'm sort of at a good place with work, any prolonged days off besides a day or two would kill it for me...therefore, it's a good thing i like to take days off at a time, rather than a week off at once right now! :)

Horn_of_plenty on 05/01/2021:
so i guess the good thing with internet, i can learn a ton without being there...even if i go for a day, i will say my work is time sensititve and i cannot be out of work for a full week without things falling behind, nobody to perform my work for me.

After work - pickup Chipotle healthy dinner option! forgot about it!

Eats: Breakfast banana 120, coffee 30, Cliff bar in coconut choc chip very tasty 260..approx 400 here.

10:30am oatmeal raisin granola bar, the Sunbelt ones that are usually a low price at supermarket, love these. 150

lunch: leftovers of the nice keto pizza with lots of cheese 350, side of tomatoes, maybe i buy chips 300 (2 serv ranch doritos - bigger bag) next door when i get gummies, maybe also a no sugar energy drink....HAPPY FRIDAY ;) 650  with side of diet moutain dew. found a couple cans, cheaper than the energy drinks.

snacks: clementine 50, 1 choc 50

1400

dinner: i'll do Chipotle takeout...lots of veggies and health in that!!! have one on the way home...

did Chinese bc a new restaurant like right next to my office - coworker gave my a chicken salad I saved that and had a very large side of Chinese broccoli for dinner took a lot of the thick sauce off but it was good 200, smaller fried spring roll which was very good 200 - it all tasted fresh from this new place - so far it's quality. 400. Dessert was golden berries 100

decided to have a snack before bEd although it didn't do anything for me - tried some of the sour lifesaver gummies 150, little hungry with appetite now before bed but overall more tired than hungry which makes it easy to just go to bed :)

2050.

Is the Old Bag there? Is she behaving herself?

horn_of_plenty on 04/30/2021:
thankfully, since Monday i'm next door again as the office was renovated and i moved back next building over to her (literally a different building). so i do not see her very much anymore.

it seems she is still NOT behaving.

i have had to see a couple emails, to one she replied days later instead of right away...days later saying i was "wrong"...but not right away her reply because she didn't know i was wrong until days later. she should have just stayed quiet....she showed she was late to even respond...eh. dumb old bag.

horn_of_plenty on 04/30/2021:
the thing i was wrong about, was due to her not reporting what needed to be fixed to anther company for a month i'm not yet up to (she thinks her old bag stuff should be prioritized by me, but i will NOT - i have enough work to do and she isn't my boss or priority). she will waste my time.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 04/28/2021:
I was wondering how you were going to work in doing 2 workouts (weights) today. You should be good to go for tonight.

One thing I wanted to comment on from yesterday is how proud/impressed/inspired (not sure what the right word is) that you acknowledged that you got to where you're at now (with eating) that took you YEARS to work out. I remember so many times you struggled. I know you know it's not easy. IDK, I just felt like, when I read your comments to others, it was like, "YEAH!"

Or maybe it was just inspiring to hear someone say that after all those years of struggling and experimenting, you found something that really works for you.

horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
I’m so glad you remember all those years that I struggled - that’s why I can relate to everyone here .... I had been there for a very long time. You are beautiful Donkey with great skin and body ! I am always your cheerleader

bearcountrygg on 04/28/2021:
Getting the exercise in early must be such a stress reliever...good job with that.

horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
It was helpful ! I was soooo warm during my commute bc of the exercise that I wore short sleeves in 50F in the AM on the way to work !

The exercise does help

coffee&calories on 04/28/2021:
How early do you wake up to work out? I need to stop making excuses.

horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
THe workout is only around 30 min or so...plus 5 min or so extra...like 35 min. so, i used to lay in bed those minutes, and listen to my music on the alarm, so now on exercise days, i just jump out of bed.

i don't even shower everyday now (in summer i may have to). i use body wipes. i have too much going on and just tell myself i'm doing a workout instead of a shower, LOL. but i am a clean person, this job is a new thing for me to actually decide i will not shower everyday. of course, during that Time of the Month, i do.

so, i don't really need to get up earlier, as i skip other things in place of exercise. and i shower mostly at night, once again, to save time in the AM.

Jacky82020 on 04/28/2021:
Hop, that does it! I’m coming out and will smack your boss around and learn him some manners.

horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
it's like backstabbing, i may write more about it soon, but i cannot...he's stressing my out to the very core.

Jacky82020 on 04/28/2021:
What an a$$hole. Hope the bug up his butt dies soon & his deportment improves.

Horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
at least i wasn't fired...close call! goodnight Jacky. you never know with some people.

Maria7 on 04/28/2021:
Hoping you are feeling well and having a good day.

Horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
i wasn't fired, so i am ok!

Jacky82020 on 04/28/2021:
That’s good, HoP, but you deserve better. Hopefully things will work out and keep improving. Give it time. hugs. Cuddle with the piggies and watch some relaxing tv.

horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
I will give piggies extra cuddles .... and took a nice relaxing shower with shaving legs !!! Needed that xoxo goodnight Jacky

Jacky82020 on 04/29/2021:
Let me know how today goes! It will be better! They’re making you earn your stripes and then you’ll surpass ‘em & fit in well

Lookahead! - Tuesday, 4/27/21

yes, my weight is still holding mostly stable around the 110 mark, all of this time since starting my job - i do try to get in cardio some days of the week, even if an extra mile, plus the commuting up stairs and down stairs to the subway, etc...it all adds up.  I also do not each as much as i used to, being able to have more days around 2000 cal and not 2100-2200 like older times.  Still some things fit weird -  have some fatty deposits on my abdomen LOL, not much though, and i cannot worry about that at all right now. My focus is only on maintenance for the next couple years or more, when thinking about my body. The real emphasis is not on my body anymore, but strengthening my mind thru knowledge in subject matter to help me at work and in life.

Maybe upper body workout tonight, unless I do it Wednesday morning? TBD

Work is interesting today - i'm moving back next door, meaning move my stuff downstairs, outside, upstairs, back to the area that was renovated. I'm not doing it again on my own - as we were told we could ask for assistance from the warehouse guys. So, i'm here working at my desk as per usual, and will move only when the guys are able to help (not willing to have sore legs again like last time).

Other than that, all is good of course.

No extra cardio today.

Eats: banana 150, wrap with cream cheese 200, coffee 50. 400 tops.

snacks: 10am nasty bad tasting protein bar 100, gummies 150

lunch: my cooking - part of a sausage 100, rice 200, riced sweet potato and cauliflower sautee 150. 450, maybe a clementine later 50. 500.

1150...

snacks:no more snacks - late lunch left me without cravings

dinner: large 6oz golden berries I found in nyc supermarket 150, 1 fried spring roll 200, shrimp 100, sautéed veggies 100

1700..might have one more thing, we'll see

chocs 100

1800-1850.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 04/27/2021:
I hope that the newly renovated office space does you well -- that sounds REALLY exciting, once all of the furniture is moved, of course.

When the time comes, I will be interested to hear all about your victim advocacy class. I agree that it sounds like you'll learn things that will help you in many areas of life, not specifically the courts.

I wish I could get to a place with my body where I could stop wanting to lose weight. If I could just lose the fat in my thighs, I think I could do that. Sadly, it's not in the cards for me, so I guess this is a cross to bear all my life, eh?

Here lies Donkey... She had big legs til the day she died.

horn_of_plenty on 04/27/2021:
that last line...you have my laughing out loud at work!!!!!!!!! hahaa.....said nobody ever at a loved one's funeral!!!!!

bearcountrygg on 04/27/2021:
I hope you can get some help moving your stuff.....That sound like quite a distance to be pushing things around.

horn_of_plenty on 04/27/2021:
I got help this time around, so glad.

Maria7 on 04/27/2021:
You are doing fantastic at maintaining!

horn_of_plenty on 04/27/2021:
Thank you, it took years of failures & learning to reach this. <3

coffee&calories on 04/27/2021:
Hop you have my utmost respect. Being happy with one’s body and maintaining for so long is definitely no easy feat. How do you think you went from a place of binging to literally never doing it anymore? I’m just in awe and envy. How did you turn the switch? Even when I was maintaining around 110 for a few years, I still had overeating episodes all the time. What’s your secret!? Hehe :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 04/27/2021:
awww thank you!

it took me a very long time to turn the switch. possibly also helped by taking a light anti-anxiety drug prescribed...being slightly different possibly in how i react to stress with the drug. but also, i will say it was my second time i lost weight in life. i had gained it back the first time i lost...and i binged quite a bit after also weighing 110 then.

but this time i lost it the slowest ever and also learned from a lot of past challenges. just learning lots and bingeing on healthier things.

in particular, i do eat large volume meals but just larger in veggies and fruit. it's not easy but bc i have so many tricks and foods i've learned to use over the years, it has become far easier with experience!!!

Jacky82020 on 04/27/2021:
Whilst I just dined upon my meager rice cakes topped with Thai tuna, I read an article in Time Magazine re policing. Said applications down in the last year & many departments are limiting polygraphs and physical fitness assessments. Some dropping application fees. Interesting. Mentioned an academy that costs 6K. Always thought the PD paid for that once they hire a person. Guess not everywhere, or these students think they’ll have advantages.

Horn_of_plenty on 04/27/2021:
no clue.

but nypd pays upon hiring of it's academy recruits.

and no policing precincts around the nyc area are dropping tests, etc! ha!

Jacky82020 on 04/27/2021:
Has to be the small towns don’t have police academies & some may gain an advantage from graduating from private academies, particularly if they lack military or other experience

No, it didn’t say dropping tests. It said lowering standards.

horn_of_plenty on 04/27/2021:
I can def see that in the rural small towns

horn_of_plenty on 04/27/2021:
That’s sad .... but here in nyc the job pays very well. After 5,5 years you are around 95k

Jacky82020 on 04/27/2021:
My cop nephew in SF was making 167K a year last time I know of. Young guy, sweet kid. Think that included overtime

horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
nice.

coffee&calories on 04/27/2021:
Do you still take the anxiety meds? I’ve contemplated for years bringing my lifelong anxiety up to my doctor, but I just have a hard time imagining talking about it (hello anxiety LOL). I’ve learned to live with it, but I definitely use food to cope.

horn_of_plenty on 04/28/2021:
yes, i take them.

I take a generic lexipro.

it's also for depression, the same medicine.

even regular physicians now may prescribe it - my music teacher friend gets it from her regular physician last she told me, tho not the best way.

20mg lexipro or excatalipram could help you. I am now on a sorta higher dose at 30. i don't want to go up or down, just trying to moderate myself with my new job and life. worry about doseage stuff later.

Friday, 5/14/21 - call in to see if I have Jury Duty in the next week

Sunday, 5/16/21 - get together with Deaf Cousin and friend that studied Sign lauguage for a fun, sign language day and good times.

Sunday, 5/30/21:1-4pm Queens Farm Volunteering on the County Farm!

Another time; AM:  ivermectin shots for other two guinea pigs for mites so I can in the future house all guinea pigs together (other affected guinea pig's skin has healed and hair begun to grow back now) ...just need time to do it without other weekend plans too bc it gets to be too much for me if it's a lot of running around and no relax time!

Fall 2021-Winter 2022 Main Goal:

I took some time yesterday, 4/24/21, to think about how i can help myself to better and get into the courts and/or future career path and what I can study to get me there: I have attained the paralegal certificate. I have also attained 2 advanced certificates: Alt Dispute Resolution/Arbitration and Bankruptcy Law.  I will take one more (i prepaid bc there was a discount to pay for 3 courses at once) in the summertime, starting July until Mid August: Victim Advocacy (i feel it will help me in life/work/everything).

Next, I will sign up for a Professional Certificate in Management, online, thru Notre Dame University. It will be taught by Notre Dame instructors and there is no current waitlist - the courses start monthly and it's a total of 2 courses, each 2 months. It's approx 2500-3000 for this certificate which is the CHEAPEST one around as well as the shortest i could find.

I found another one, similar, in Management also - a certificate from the City University of New York City (CUNY colleges) system, for the same price, that instead of taking 4 months to finish could take 12 months bc it's 3 courses that take a semester each rather than half a semester for two courses at ND. There's another one at Cornell Univeristy, double the Notre Dame price, $4800 at Cornell.

Why now leadership? Well, if i get into the courts, and i do well, I may be offered some sort of leadership position down the road.  Also, leadership courses, even if i'm not a leader per se at work now, will help me and give me tools on how to act/work/advocate for myself in any position.

Why a certificate and not a bachelors or masters in business? I'm not about to fork out that type of money or time to get a full-fledged degree. It's simply not what i need right now. I just need to learn more skills, and it's not by taking loads of pre-reqs in macroeconomics, financial classes, etc., bc i do not think i'll be working in a financial way down the road. So a business bachelors or masters will not help me - what will help is leadership focussed classes; that can help me in any career, anywhere.

interesting to note:
business law is a course for both business degrees and is a course as part of the advanced paralegal program - I may take that in the future if I want to and have time. But like I said, after ND, I willl take a break from studying - but studying Business Law the paralegal way will be cheaper than studying it at a college, for the most part, unless i sign up at a community college. we'll see.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 0 lbs to go!

Donkey on 04/26/2021:
Just wanted to be sure that you were aware of the MM degree... Glad you are. And your example from yesterday is how I knew about it. My mom was a nurse and got her MM in order to move up.

horn_of_plenty on 04/26/2021:
yes, they have other ones specific for nursing. there's a lot of choices...for management with specializations.

bearcountrygg on 04/26/2021:
I've had hot chocolate that reminds me of soap too....I thought it was just me.

horn_of_plenty on 04/26/2021:
i do not understand why? I made coffee in the machine which tasted fine, but when i made the HC after, it tasted bad. :( still drinking it though, as i need some sugar to wake me up...

bearcountrygg on 04/26/2021:
I think it's the brand.....

horn_of_plenty on 04/26/2021:
Swiss Miss??

Maria7 on 04/26/2021:
Good on the walk. I am eating my bananas, too (and taking some to Mama today).

horn_of_plenty on 04/26/2021:
i can't believe how i've changed my mind about bananas. just love them lately, especially at work in the early mornings. fast energy and soothing for my stomach! i think it's a perfect eat for mama, easy to chew.

bearcountrygg on 04/26/2021:
Yup...Swiss miss......it's different and not in a good way.

Horn_of_plenty on 04/26/2021:
yeah, usually it doesn't taste bad but today it was outright horrible. the keurig cup.

happy-1 on 04/26/2021:
Big plans... big goals... big happiness!
