(count calories/exercise/relaxing thoughts!)
Weight: 129.0

exercise: at least 6 miles walking. lovely weather :)

milk, cereals, blueberries: 310

snack: cc 110

lunch yogurts + lg apple: 280 + 2 milano cookies

dinner: was big, but then again it was after a long walk of at least 6 miles with nothing to eat for at least 6 hours. brown rice, teriyaki salmon, whole cucumber with light dressing, large apple, orange, strawberries. yeah, lots of sugar but only healthy sugar. :)

total cal: 1460 :) ok considering the exercise i did :) i would presume I still have a calorie deficit today of around 700 calories if i'm lucky :)

I'm getting bored with eating cottage cheese and yogurts and sometimes fruit at work. I need a change soon!

I've been tired the past 3 days so I'm going out anyway for a long walk. yoga tomorrow.

my weight loss has NOT been as fast as I would have liked. This is probably due to the fact that I binged so often up until I decided to take this seriously so I am still undoing a lot of that recent binging. I am not at all below 130, today I weighed 131 which was slighty disappointing. I am in NO way giving up though. :)

sheesh. I'm thirsty. Not even bingy. Tired. But, I do need to get myself out of the house and start walking. yup. I will probably pick up a diet drink of some kind to keep myself satisfied while I walk.

Progress as of today: 6 lbs lost so far, only 14 lbs to go!

Looks good so far!...

Check in on ya a bit later... : - )

thinnsidenotout on 05/28/2008:
How about some veggies like carrots, cucumber, cauliflower with a little ranch dressing..Peanut Butter with celery....Almonds, Cashews, Soy Nuts, etc...?

rlovell on 05/28/2008:
i felt INSANELY bingey last night when i came home from yoga. so, i gave in and had some fiber one and pumpkin- not the best of things (carbs) to eat before bed, but certainly not the worst. i find that i am so much less hungry when i dont have all the artificial crap- sweeteners-and just stick with good protein and LOTS of veggies. it works. oh, and water. i love yogurt and cc too, but sometimes its easy to binge on too and NOTHING is ok to binge on- its the act that is destructive no matter what the food. love you

balloonlady on 05/28/2008:
have you tried maybe tuna or hummus on multi seed flat breads, it would be a change and it is pretty yummy...

You reminded me to add fruit and yogurt to my grocery shopping list! Im sure the weight loss will follow soon with your meticulous selection of foods!

thinnsidenotout on 05/28/2008:
I TOTALLY get the not wanting to eat nuts, etc right now... I have to measure out the serving and have somebody hide the can/jar so I can't have any more as soon as I am done with what was measured..... I love nuts....

6 Miles is a wonderful walk.... Did so myself today and it felt good!

Have a good Thursday!

(count calories/exercise/relaxing thoughts!)
Weight: 130.0

25 minute bike, 18 minute treadmill.

I am procrastinating on exercise today. Didn't want to do it at all! and, despite my desire not to have a lot of artifical sweetner, i did anyway today. I am happy to keep calories low. that's what matters most right now.

felt bingy this morning at breakfast: cereal, milk, blueberries and about ten tablespoons of sugar free jelly: 350. glad i didn't make other worse choices! :)

snack: apple which left me a bit too hungry before lunch at 2pm

lunch: 4 ounce pineapple cottage cheese, 4 ounce light activia strawberry yogurt, all mixed with 6 ounces plain yogurt. 260

snack: iced coffee, 1 quart powerade zero, diet peach snapple (anything to fill my stomach up completely)...diet pink lemonade snapple...

dinner: amy's lasagna meal, plain yogurt, cucumber. 420

total: a hot 1240. good, although i drank LOTS of garbage. fine with that. there's just so much i can give.

actually, 1300 - added fruits/veggies to meal!

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

harleygirl79 on 05/27/2008:
10 tbsp? WOW talk about alot of jelly. LOL Enjoy the rest of your day

thinnsidenotout on 05/27/2008:
I could eat jelly right out of the jar too and plenty of it.... I can think of A LOT of worse things to choose.... Regroup & hang in there the rest of the day!

My thoughts prayers are with you to have CONTROL....

Beth201P on 05/27/2008:
I don't think you did to badly on your choices. There are a lot of worse things you could have eaten. Have a great day.

hollybelle on 05/27/2008:
Catchinig up with you-thanks for the comments you've been making on mine! I appreciate it! FYI - Ground Zero was so moving for me. I remember having drinks at the top of the WTC on previous trips to NY and there is just something so humbling about those lovely buildings being absent from the NY skyline after that. Unbelievable. I really found myself at a loss for words - which as you know is really something for me! Regarding walk with Mom - gee my Mom doesn't even exercise - now I might be kind of glad....ha! Just kidding - there's just no changing other people, HOP....sigh!

legcramps on 05/27/2008:
Hey, that's not a terrible binge if you ask me! In fact, I don't really think it's a binge at all. Those relaxing thoughts must've prevailed! Progress! Whoot!! :)

mmuraro on 05/27/2008:
you are right. time to stop giving myself a break. i have to get used to the fact my routine will always be interrupted with trips, flus, etc and i need to be able to adapt! i am ready to weight myself tomorrow and post a big number on here. ouch.

Soon2BThin on 05/27/2008:
Hey, thanks for the welcome back. It's good to be back here. I find that apples make me more hungry too so I only eat them with a meal. And I never thought of eating sugar-free jelly by itself, no bread. May try that one, it's only 10 calories a teaspoon, I think. But only as a last resort. Just bought blueberries today and found that tomorrow, they have them for 99 cents a small container, I paid $2.00 today. Guess I'll have to go get more later this week. Have a great Wednesday!

selina on 05/28/2008:
wow! great food!

Sparkle on 05/28/2008:
Im contemplating binging on pizza so yogurt seems like a much better binge!!! and like legcramps says, i dont really think its a binge at all!! Keep up the energy!!

I need to take out my aggrivation so i'll do it here. Just came back from an attempt to go for a walk with my family. My mom is ordering me around like a dog and shaking her finger at me. So, I decided to walk home. Apparently she really does favor my sister and would only walk next to her, never me. However, I work in a school in the town i live in and i refuse to walk around with a mother that treats me as if i were not even human. now i have to sit around in my house because i have the only key we took with us and i have to wait for my family to return (mom, dad, sister).

i actually don't mind sitting at home because i am a bit tired and will perhaps go out later if i really want to exercise.

Breakfast: strawberries, puffed corn cereal mixed with fiber one, milk: 250.

lunch: yogurts/cottage cheese, and this healthy lemonade flavored drink mix: 280

snack: felt a little bingy but wanted to eat healthy and not undo any of my hard work in the past two weeks. one large apple, two large cucumbers with a little dressing: 230.

dinner sorta odd from an ethnic greek restaurant but I didn't really choose the most ethnic foods! yankee bean soup, salad, 2 bites of other people's fish, 1/2 cup approx. of tasty cauliflower 450 at most?

late snack: yogurt 70

total: I'll say 1200. at least that worked. massive headache and really tired today, all day.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

rlovell on 05/26/2008:
hi HOP! yikes, i am really sorry to hear about the issues with your mom. mother/daughter relationships can be a bit tricky sometimes especially when you feel like you are not allowed to be yourself with her. i am glad you decided to walk home and use a good outlet to channel your anger. have you spoken to your mother about how you feel alienated? xoxo

selina on 05/26/2008:
Thanks for the good tips on my menu you've left a couple of times. i appreciate it. in fact i tried to add some more protein into my diet and it seems to be working, i hope. good luck with your mom/daughter/sister relationship issues. it's unusual not to have any problems with one's mom or siblings, especially one's sister, in my opinion. it's not natural, it goes against our instincts. it does take a lot of effort to fight these instincts. i often remind my daughter when she has issues with her friends that we have no control over anybody, except ourselves. i think you did very well - you can't control your mom or sister's actions, but you can control yourself and you can choose when and with whom you exercise. i hope you'll feel better.

thinnsidenotout on 05/26/2008:
Sorry!..... I AM proud that you did not let the "tiff" determine your eating to be back to old habits my friend! You are learning and putting it into action very well....

12:00pm edit: I was exhausted during yoga and did horrible this morning. Perhaps I didn't get enough sleep. Whatever it was, I will have to keep going so I can improve - and not go less. I was going every other day but I did go yesterday and today. This could be why it was difficult. Whatever the reason, it means I need to do it more.

I woke up a little exhausted but I don't want to waste this morning at not go to yoga. I will probably be with family all day and to tell you the truth, I've been with family a lot everyday since Wednesday and I'm really not looking foward to it. A walk on the beach should be good, but then my mom is cooking dinner. She cooks on the healthy side, but I enjoy preparing my own meals and lately I've been eating a lot of foods which I haven't prepared (except for yesterday) and its frustrating. I have some issues with preparing my own foods and not eating things cooked/prepared by others unless there is a NUTRITION FACTS LABEL on it! :) That's me. I'm a bit obsessive compulsive. I've counted calories since I was around 20 years old and now I'm almost 26 and believe me, I'm not stopping any time soon - especially now.

When my mom cooks, I don't usually prepare anything special for myself and I try to make do with watch she is serving. Sometimes, also because the food is different from what I make, I eat more. So, I'll really have to watch calories today in order to enjoy dinner tonight.

exercise: must go to yoga. perhaps a walk on the beach.

oh gosh, I have SO much laundry to do. I would have done it sooner but my uncle was staying over and I didn't want to have that on my mind to do too. Also, haha, my mom gets pissed if she finds my wet clothes in the washing machine and sometimes i like to go out after i put the clothes in and put them in the dryer when i get back. I decided to save that for today. lol. I am rambling.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

maria777 on 05/26/2008:
I surely DO know what you mean! When my Mom was still living at her apartment, she'd cooked rice pudding and things like that and she used more fats in hers than I do but hers was the BEST and somehow I'd over eat cause it was SOOO good and I usually do the same thing when we eat with friends as well!!!

glycrina on 05/26/2008:
I am with you about preparing your own food. My mother-in-law doesn't understand that iceburg lettuce with two slices of tomato and lots of ranch dressing doesn't really count as a healthy meal. HAHA. You are doing well.

Sparkle on 05/26/2008:
Hi!! Thanks for all the messages you have left at my diary! Its nice to know you are out there. As for prepping your own meal... I need to start doing that!! Too much take-out/delivery/eating-out is definitely showing on my waistline! Enjoy Yoga if you go! I need to be doing more of that too!

because my dad has special privledges due to his job, I was able to actually go INSIDE the ground zero (9-11) construction site today. it was really cool to see.

early breakfast: strawberries: 60

Late breakfast: never took place.

lunch: 4 pickles, a large deli turkey sandwich on rye bread: 600

snack: few cherry tomatoes, large granny smith apple 150

total so far: 810 eesh. I don't want to eat a lot for dinner. I'd like to keep the total in the 1200s. Going out to eat with family and will probably get a salad.

dinner: ended up more than i wanted but still alright in terms of total daily calories. 1 cup of manhattan clam chowder soup, grilled sea bass, broccoli, coffee. 700 at most.

total: 1500 approx. ok.

I will bike for a little while in the AM. Then, I have to get ready to spend the rest of the day with family.

What an interesting week and weekend it's been having my uncle stay here since Wednesday. Today will be spent with my family (we do not do this often so it should be a good, yet slightly stressful in terms of food choices, day for me).

We'll be visiting my grandma, taking her out to lunch for her birthday which was Thursday, and then possibly go into the city, later out to dinner. I will eat making smart choices, how can't I? I've been doing so well. I feel some weight loss, finally. I cannot be happier with how my body feels as it gets slimmer. On the other hand, my energy levels are not always consistent. sometimes i'm quite tired. I also haven't been sleeping well. I'm still not giving up. I want this to be the last time that I let my eating go so out of control that I gain 20 lbs in less than a year. It was so unhealthy what I did.

Friday when i went for my walk i didn't have a snack beforehand. at first, i was a little lethargic, but then i got into it. I didn't even have an appetite by the end of the my walk after 5 miles. This means I can get by successfully on my current eating plans. I always try to get in carbs, but good ones usually, and lots of fiber.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

exercise: yoga and 5 mile walk. excellent.

Today I work up earlier than I thought I would. Lately I've been getting by on less sleep. Maybe exercising is making that possible. I'm not very tired throughout the day but sometimes for a little while in the afternoon I feel it!

Breakfast: Fage yogurt with light activia yogurt mixed in. This satisfies me! Lg tea. strrawberries: 210

Lunch a bit large, very hungry early after yoga: 1.5 cups fiber one, .5 cup strawberries, 1 cup milk, 4 ounce cc, 4 ounce activia yogurt: 460.

around 1280 cal. I am totally not sure how many calories dinner was. I ended up going out and had a LOT of veggies and then also a salad with seared tuna and nothing else in it. I am hoping that calories were around 400. Hopefully that's right. Otherwise, it was still a pretty low day with lots of exercise.

exercise: AM 40 min, PM 50 min walk.

I haven't been giving into food temptations. We had a breakfast in the faculty room today but I had breakfast beforehand. Also, there wasn't as good a selection as usual so that's good. Last night I almost gave in to having a 300 calorie pita bread! NOT worth it. Three hundred calories just for the actual bread and nothing else. I am doing well, as long as I learn to calm myself down and not think of drowning my emotions in food.

Because I was up earlier than usual this morning, I decided to just take a walk outside. It was slightly drizzling, but not during most of the 40 minute walk I took. It was worth it and I will probably go to the gym later, not so in the mood for yoga tonight - I plan on going tomorrow morning when I have a day off from work.

Breakfast: lots of fiber one, milk: 310

snack: cc: 110

Lunch: yogurt: 160

snack: lots of tofu sprinkled with cinnamon and a large apple 300

I've been tired today due to lack of sleep lately bc i wake up early for no apparent reason! Actually, one reason is that my uncle from California has been staying with us. But, I can't believe it's causing me to wake up so early in the morning - and i've been going to bed later than usual. I have a feeling I'll catch up on sleep come Sunday and Monday which I have off from work, too.

total so far: 880.

I can have 400 cal for dinner and make it a 1280 approx. day. This is my plan :) I can do this :) yes.

Progress as of today: 5 lbs lost so far, only 15 lbs to go!

rlovell on 05/22/2008:
of course you can do this!! OMG! i thought no one else in the world ate raw tofu...guess who sprinkles cinnamon and splenda on hers? sometimes i slice it like cheese and put it on top of apples...i think we should have a lunch date! and PS- i am addicted to fiber one

rlovell on 05/22/2008:
oh pps- yes, my bday is on the 26th, so early lunch for me.

I like taking my early morning walks, it's so quiet during that time of morning with only a few other people passing by from time to time. I try to look around and enjoy the scenery because I walk along a trail through the park, but sometimes i'm not quite 'awake' enough to do that! But the crisp fresh air does its work and i'm ready for the day by the time I get back home. Good luck this week!!!

thinnsidenotout on 05/22/2008:
Yes, to realize that it is o.k. to step away and do something else for about 10-15 minutes or drink a glass of water and wait the same period of time instead..Tend to find you weren't REALLY hungry after all and don't miss eating that "item or items" once we have our mind off of it....

You are doing wonderful...Soon this will be routine and not seem such a chore...

I haven't got nearly anything accomplished today that I set out to do, but the work isn't going to "Stop" because of it, so I best get with what I can get done at least.... Good Evening!

mmuraro on 05/22/2008:
good job, girl. i am having a hard time keeping on track. i hope i dont gain while in brazil. xo

selina on 05/23/2008:
Hi! Concerning my very light menu consisting of carbo: My friend, who lost 45 pounds recently, told me that instead of avoiding carbo you must take it in small portions all day long to keep burning it. She says it helps metabolism while tricking your body into thinking there is more to come, so it keeps burning. When she reached a plateau in weight loss with a diet of high protein, she was loosing hope when someone told her about eating more carbo. She switched to this method and it worked, she says. Now, in my case, I find it easier to eat small amounts of carbo (the good kind, whole wheat, whole cereal, the crackers that look like cardboard, unfortunately) than fruits, celery sticks or dairy products, for example, as my snacks. I eat LOTS of veggies in my main meals and different kinds of beans for the protein I dont like meat so much, i maily cook meat for my husband who can't live without it. I find that when I eat fruits or dairy as snacks, my stomach makes hungry noises half an hour later I dont know why, I might be allergic to acidicity or dairy products. Must ask my doctor. That doesnt happen with my little crackers. In fact, I dont feel hungry until its time for another snack or meal. I hope this answers your question. Have a great day!

exercise: hot yoga.

I'm not sure if I will walk today, actually, I won't. My ankle needs the rest. Then again, I'm bored just sitting here. Maybe I should head out for a walk. eh. we'll see. I might as well do a slow walk on the treadmill.

HAHA. nice background. the job isnt necessarily too "Easy" but i am just growing in different directions since i started here. it is a good thing, but its hard when my role hasnt been re-defined. i am in production, so it has been difficult to find that spiritual/yogic quality with which i hope to live my entire life sometimes. i feel like some days i want to run into the woods and live far away where i can just be in nature and do something that matters. ahh, talk about a fantasy world, right? xoxo

Do you know how excited I am to really finally get to see the real you?....Your enthusiasm about your life and just "no stress" feeling I get from your entries these days is a relief to me on your behalf my friend... Your eating is wonderful....Keep it Up....Even in "Stressful" times, cause you know how good it feels to not be out of control in that area of your life...WONDERFUL huh?
