Friday, day 7. 109.4 So yesterday I was talking to this nutritionist at the gym telling her food and diet is my other passion (outside of teaching music/playing music). I was telling her how if I had to do life all over again, I might enter into a diet/food/nutrition/health carreer. I told her this in this midst of our conversation over the danger of eating too many nightshade and cruciferous vegetables at a time. (something I had been doing by having a whole eggplant each day!) I'll write more about this when she looks up some more info for me in her health books next week. We were both interested!

I have a performance tonight right in my neighborhood and then a rehearsal and performance all wrapped into one for tomorrow. the bad thing about that is that the rehearsal is 2:30-5 and then we have the concert at 7. Sunday will be a lesson and a day for me to catch up on some conducting. It's a long haul until the cruise! It will be my reward, I guess!

Have a nice day!

Thursday, day 8!

I thought today was gonna be a short day. It pretty much was...then, I was on my 12th minute on the treadmill and my mom ask's me to follow her to the train at that exact moment so that she could drop a car off for my sister to come home and then I could drive my mom back home. Just lovely. So, once again, it's almost 9pm and I thought I was going to bed at 9:30. That's not happening, and it's good I looked at my score a little during school because I'm not doing that much work now. (I woke up before 6am).

Hang in there, everyone!

Well, at least you got some exercise in! Big Smile!

sweetpea1977 on 12/08/2006:
Im with you. I'd love to start a brand new career in something health related. I find that Im a lot more passionate about my health than my current line of work, so it would be great to get paid doing something that truly makes me happy.

Good luck at your performance tonight!

Moody on 12/08/2006:
What kind of dangers could there be from eating too much of those veggie types you listed? I am really interested to find out!

You have a busy weekend planned again..do you EVER get a full day just for YOU??

maria777 on 12/08/2006:
Good for you on the exercise!!!

Thursday, day 8...NOT cool: 110 lbs.

Wednesday, day 9!

LOL! Fish is so good, but so bad! Hollybelle, nice idea to grill outside. I asked my folks if that would be okay, one said yes, one said no. So, the answer is a somewhat no, but maybe I will be able to grill outside in the future, like in the New Year!

Tomorrow I will be "observed" by the Asst. Principal. I hope she remembers to come! lol. Teaching went well today, I switched another good clarinet player to the massive bass clarinet! nice! Now, when the teacher gets back, she'll be impressed! Her band will be so nice and balanced.

I feel like I accomplished most of the things I set out to do today, and that feels good. I walked on the treadmill for almost an hour and did some weights. I haven't done that in awhile!

It turns out I may have to miss my last day of school in order to go on the cruise with my family! The cruise company changed the flights; and if that is really the case, it really won't be a huge deal for me to take the day before Christmas break off. But, I'll have to let the principal know right away! That would have been my last day of school, too!

Thank you all for your comments :) Goodnight!

Day 10, Tuesday.

Thank you Maria, Geevee, and WorkingIt for your comments. Geevee, you really put me in my place, thank you! I needed your perspective on that issue.

Today was busy in school and I stayed after to practice so that I would sound better this evening at rehearsal, which is what happened!

Tomorrow I plan on getting at school around 8 instead of 7:30 because I don't have an early class and I'd rather spend that extra time sleeping or getting ready here. It would have been better if i was in bed an hour ago! But the rehearsals go on!

Tomorrow is a break in the schedule. Perhaps a little more exercise than the minimum I've been doing everyday. I haven't looked much at the conducting scores which I need to know pretty well by MONDAY. My weekend is busy as well, so I really don't know how I'm gonna do it. Friday night I have a concert/rehearsal and saturday I have a concert.

ohhh, you know what? my mom refuses to allow me to cook fish again in the house because she despises the smell! now I'm going to have to buy cooked fish! not cool. but I do understand that it does smell!

Goodnight everyone!

Progress as of today: 3.6 lbs lost so far, only 1.8 lbs to go!

borntocry on 12/06/2006:
Oh, I feel for you! My husband also always complains about the smell of cooking. At first it was just Indian food, which I can understand, but now it's anything with tomatoes, and that rules out all kinds of things. One thing I've tried doing is cooking more in the microwave, as that seems to smell less. You could try that - I've seen recipes for fish in the microwave, and microwave cooking is supposed to be healthier and more energy-efficient. Also there are some fish that don't smell as much as others. Or you could become a sushi chef and eat your fish raw, hehe...

hollybelle on 12/06/2006:
Hi there. I cook my fish on our outdoor grill because it has a burner on the side. Do you have one of those? I never thought of it until my Dad mentioned he did that because my Mom didn't like him to "smell up the house". Just a thought.....Holly

WorkingIt on 12/06/2006:
LOL people aren't allowed to warm their fish in the microwave here at the office because it smells. And if they bring in take out containers of fish, they aren't allowed to throw the containers or leftovers in the indoor garbage, they have to take it to the outside LOL.

Weight: 108.8

Tuesday, day 10. uhhh, my weight is up 109.8 I wonder why, that seems odd!

Monday: day 11

In fact, I wasn't observed today like I was supposed to be. I woke up extremely early just to plan for being observed and to type up my lesson plan really nicely too! I did it this morning because I was practically falling alseep just standing up at the end of last night. It was a busy weekend and I was drained!

The assistant principal ran into all sorts of problems in the school today from busses being late to other kinds of issues. I went up to her and now she'll be coming Thursday. I now I have to re-type a new lesson. It can't be the same one because it is almost the band concert and I need to cover as many things as I can!

My meeting with Judy was totally DELAYED today as well! I got there at 4 and she told me how someone without an appointment was there to see her with a terrible illness and asked if I could wait. I asked how long and she told me a half hour. So, I left and came back 35 minutes later to find out she was still meeting with the woman! She met with that person all the way until after 5pm.

I ended up asking if it is a regular occurance to wait over an hour to talk to her and she said no, it doesn't usually happen. LOL. All of my scheduling always gets messed up! This is frustrating because I planned to be able to do things and also relax a little tonight. Now, it's almost 8pm and I haven't exercised, showered, or done any work at all for my class. I wanted to be in bed by 9/9:30. It'll happen, but other things will be slighted.

I have a really thin sister who looses weight more easily than she gains it. She just doesn't have that same need to gorge on food like I do. It frustruates me very, very much. She's like a half inch shorter than me and even smaller boned than I am. I know this is silly and juvenile but I feel like I am being compared to her.

Tomorrow is the second to last jazz band rehearsal and it is very important that we get everything done we need to! I know the students will do great and I will mention that to them at the beginning of class.

I have one more late rehearsal tomorrow night and then a break for a few days (which I should probably use to practice my conducting for my class and NOT use doing yoga and fun things like that.) so yeah, i'll use the time wisely since I want a good grade and I want to prove I can do it!

Goodnight and thank you for all of your comments :)

Progress as of today: 4.6 lbs lost so far, only 0.8 lbs to go!

maria777 on 12/04/2006:
Wow...sounds like you are very, very busy!

Hope you had a good day today!

geevee on 12/04/2006:
Oh, geez. You have too much going!Comparing yourself to your sister is the VERY last thing in the world that should enter your mind. Stop it!

Let me tell you something that your own mother could. YOU are NOT your sister!!!Whatever size she is, is the way she is. PERIOD! YOU are YOU! Get it? NEVER, EVER compare yourself to your siblings.

I had five children, and they have run true to form. Billy, the Brute, is still the heavy weight of the family. Sweetheart John is still and always has been the slimmest. And so on. There are body types and weights that do hold true throughout life. All we can do is to modify ever so slightly what we have been given. That's it! Stop worrying!

WorkingIt on 12/05/2006:
I second Geevee! =) I think you are a really awesome person!

day 10 - Monday 108.8....I knew 108 wasn't accurate the other day! haha

day 11 - Sunday

Today I woke up and did a few errands in the early morning. I ended up not getting everything done that I had wanted to! I rushed to a rehearsal at 2pm and played well, considering the amount of time I had spent playing all week (which was a ton of time!).

I taught a lesson after which went really well and I am glad that my student enjoyed the concert i played in saturday night!

I have to plan a lesson for tomorrow, because I will be observed by the assisstant principal.

I ate a little too much for dinner, making scallops and fish for one meal along with a head of butter lettuce, 1/2 a grilled eggplant, some mushrooms, brussel sprouts, oil and vinegar. I also ate a nectarine and a small orange. I guess I was a bit anxious about doing this lesson plan.

Tomorrow is my consultation with the "nutrition guru" Judy at the health food store, I wonder what she'll have to say!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekends!

For a meal of eating a little too much..at least it looks very healthy! You seem to eat some very healthy things, that is great!

GG on 12/03/2006:
Aw! I am so jeaous of your dinner! it sounds amazing! I cannot wait to get home so I can cook my food! I love scallops! What was the other type of fish you had? Have fun tomorrow with your nutrition guru! ha ha! I love going to health food stores too: I know that sounds weird but I love to see all the different products! ha ha!

geevee on 12/04/2006:
Everything you're eating is GREAT! No wonder you were able to lose some weight!

Weight: 108.0

Sunday, day 11. 108.6

For now, I'm going to work at staying at goal weight. I really hope it's not muscle loss or water loss! I don't feel thinner by 3/4 pounds though. I don't look it either and my pants that I would like to wear are still too tight. Maybe that's because when I bought them I was thinner than 108.

I don't plan on shrinking away totally unhealthfully any time soon though because I'm not like that. I still have some extra padding around my waist and hips and would love to loose it.

I haven't been exercising as much because of my schedule. I will definitely exercise today for a half hour, just walking.

sat day 12

I had a great concert tonight. Overall, it was one of the best we have ever played and the audience was so packed that we actually waited before playing the 3rd piece so that people standing in the back could find seats for the remainder of it! The concert was very long! It began a little after 8 and went on until after 10!

We went to Applebee's after the concert. I orderred a salad with shrimp skewers. It was very good! The shrimp was grilled and there were even snow peas in the romaine salad with some carrot, onion, and a little shredded green and red cabbage. I was impressed!

Tomorrow I have a rehearsal and lesson. I'll be trying to get things done between those two things!

goodnight all!

Weight: 109.4

Saturday, day 12...haha, the scale says 108, but I don't feel much thinner at all! I read a few other entries of DDers that say that don't feel "fatter," and I feel the exact opposite (not much thinner). I still think some of this weight is major water weight.

I ate dinner around 4:55 last night and then went to rehearsal and didn't eat again until breakfast this morning. Usually, I'm eating plenty more in the evenings. so, I'm sure that is what is moving the scale also.

However, this is quite interesting and I'm going to speak to Judy today...the woman from the health food store...and go over my food intake and week with her to plan for the weeks to come!

I did yoga this morning because I ended up getting earlier than I thought I would! I got up a little before 7am. When I'm stressed or have had a lot to do, I will always wake up early on Saturday! I drove my sister to the train and walked to yoga from there (yoga's like 2 minutes away from the train!)

I hadn't exercised since Tuesday and yoga was VERY challenging today. Good thing was, I felt really great after I left the class! Also, I had almost no craving feeling after class like I usually do. I came home thinking I would have an early lunch, but then stuck to the snack I have been having at school: baby carrots and about 3 tablespoons of peanut butter. I even felt satisfied. That is a major change for me.

I will update tonight again!

Friday, day 13!

Today was a good day at school, I got a lot done and taught a lot of students! I made some phone calls, both good and ones for students who need improvement. The concert's coming up and things are running pretty smoothly and I'm much happier now than I was at this time last year, teaching middle school and a super-wealthy area. Trust me, it was a HORRIBLE experience! probably more the parents/administration than the kids.

I haven't exercised since Tuesday. I didn't exercise today either. It really stinks, but I really don't have the time/don't want to use that time for exercising. I pretty much have come home from work, layed down in my bed for 10 minutes, had dinner, and then gone to rehearsal these past 3 nights.

I am not sure when things will get better. I would love to do yoga tomorrow but I will take too much out of me and I have a concert in the evening. I will do Yoga sunday evening though I have to teach a lesson and go to a rehearsal. those are a lot of things to do. I also have work to get done and i'll be teaching tomorrow a one hour lesson as well.

Monday I'm being observed, Tueday I have a rehearsal in the evening. Wednesday and Thursday are probably when I will get a break; and Friday I have a concert/party. I also have a concert next Saturday! LOL

This entry is another one of those lists. I just helped myself understand this wierd schedule!

Thank you for your comments and I have begun reading your entries!

Progress as of today: 4 lbs lost so far, only 1.4 lbs to go!

Anyone who teaches middle school is a saint in my book! You sure do get observed a lot! That would drive me nuts.

With so much to do, you must really be burning up those clories. Take care, Angelina! LOL

No way! Your goal weight?! You're the Incredible Shrinking Girl!

Friday day 13

eesh, my lips are sooo swollen from playing in rehearsal last night! They look like angelina jolie lips!

day 14, 110. TIRED today! lack of sleep is starting to catch up!

I did real well on being observed by the asst. superintendent! what fun it was!

So glad to hear that your observation went well!!! Woohoo!!!! Hope you sleep well tonight~!

geevee on 12/01/2006:
Good going on the observations! Oh, how I HATED them! Sometimes they turned out very well and were actually fun, but the stress of thinking about them BEFORE is the real killer!

That's SO funny about your Angelina Jolie lips!

WorkingIt on 12/01/2006:
LOL people would pay big money for those lips! You should market the idea!!! Have a GREAT evening! **HUGS**

Weight: 109.4

day 14, Thursday. 110 pounds, I knew yesterday was a bit of a fluke! also, I weighed myself this morning after not eating since 5pm yesterday! I do not feel thinner though (from 112 pounds) and maybe that's because it is water loss?

Day 15, Wednesday.

It is 11:30 and I practically just got out of the shower. I had a band rehearsal at the college tonight and it was a recording session. the conductor is very picky and quite the perfectionist and we ended up getting out 15 minutes later than we should have, making that 10:30pm. hmmm, I am being observed bright and early tomorrow morning!

I HATE NOT GETTING SLEEP and this is beginning to seriously DISTURB ME! Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be like this for the week. Saturday evening I have a concert and Sunday afternoon I have a different rehearsal. then, I also have a different rehearsal for something entirely seperate on Tuesday! what! I;m busy. But, I don't like the so busy that you don't sleep or exercise! that is NOT my STYLE!

That was good venting.

I had a really wholesome diner tonight: large salad, big chilli and onion pieces in tofu (has some nice protein and fat in these things), a piece of avacado, like half a grilled eggplant, and a whole sweet potato. If I didn't eat the sweet potato, I swear I would not have lasted through the 4 1/2 hour rehearsal tonight. I even brought half another sweet potato with me, but decided not to have it after.

I will definitely find the time to meet with JUDY, the person who kinda got me enthusiastic about this diet plan, sometime saturday. she works at the health food store.

the peanut butter is not very expensive, if I believe it costs $7, Runner. well, i guess that means double the price of some peanut butters.

GOODNIGHT, I really enjoy your comments and it looks like everyone is just very busy at this time of year!

Progress as of today: 4 lbs lost so far, only 1.4 lbs to go!

borntocry on 11/30/2006:
Well, you are losing weight on this new plan, at least! I'm so jealous, hehe. Way to go!

Moody on 11/30/2006:
As usual you are on the go go go!!! I hope you find SOME time to do what you want to do. And yes, sleep is so important. There is more and more research being done that shows getting enough sleep is important for weight loss!
