2pm friend Brad bringing his twins to see my guinea pigs again...maybe change fleeces before his girls come over, wash them later at night...

Sunday, Jan 3:

10am NYC / 4pm Paris time; Phone chat with french friend...short chat..day before i am working, most possibly...still no concrete details, will not discuss until it's for sure and i've g-d willing lasted a couple weeks.

Monday, 1/4/21 - just got word of where to go, time, so i will show up a little before 8am time i was told, for first day. will be paperwork and i'm not sure it's going to be a full day...but will be prepared with some food, etc, for it to be a full day...

Saturday, Jan 9th :)

Ridgewood Reservoir Cleanup with NYC H20, Brooklyn, should be fun!..there's some parking usually so i'm not going to regret this! :) Leaf Raking.  Lol, the founder of this organization is the one i want on that walk/date with...i met him thru volunteering at his organization.  he's really nice and all but we will not click romantically, although it was a good time walking with him a couple days ago (writing this on 12/29/20)..he randomly invited me to meet him at a park on Long Island that is huge...because i randomly sent him a friend request on facebook.  It was a good time and a free (nothing else planned i mean!) fun day with no obligations of doing anything else. i'm glad he invited me to go. I was a little nervous with him bc he's brilliant in the maths/ sciences/ environmental stuff...but it was a good change of pace.  he has a child that is 3...another reason i have no further interests. but a nice man and i'm glad he asked me to go. he also bought me lunch ;)....moving onwards though! no romance intended in the future at all.  I will see him again though, at this event (it's his non-profit organization), but shouldn't be awkard at all :)

Monday, January 11th: Paralegal Course Info: Next Advanced Online Paralegal Course: Bankruptcy Law; Runs thru Friday, February 26th (7 short Weeks)

Resolutions / Goals 2021: volunteer on weekends at a law firm / pro bono...to get that experience. This will happen.  Will look into possibilities after the Winter of 2021...will be difficult to fit in as I am working, but, I'm not doing this until later in 2021, or, even 2022 because of COVID.

after all, i need to also finish 5 more classes (short ones, 7 weeks each i think for either all or most of them) in 2021...so that's a goal too, i guess, for 2021, to finish the Advanced Paralegal Certification (it's a brief intro to 6 subtypces of paralegal work (estates, family law, arbitration, etc.).  The next class I take is stated above. I have finished one so far. so I have 5 left.

Progress as of today: 2 lbs lost so far, only 1 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 01/01/2021:
Do you do videochats with your French friend?

Horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2021:
YES! always video chats. we prefer the app Whatsapp for video chat instead of other apps like Zoom, etc. Always video with French friend, yes. I have another friend around here that hates video chatting so it's reserved mostly for French friend ;)

Jacky82020 on 01/01/2021:
Wow! That is pricey. Assuming you mean isopropyl alcohol. Under $2 last time at Walmart, but months ago. The husband had a stash. Car boys use it to soak & degrease small auto parts.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2021:
Yeah, i was almost going to walk somewhere else - to regular larger drug store for it, like a walgreens, but i just decided to get it and go home. crazy price indeed!.

Donkey on 01/01/2021:
That is quite expensive for isopropyl alcohol.

I'm guessing you'll get more information about the job next week. Not much to be done until you have concrete info.

Today is kind of a cleaning day for me too. It's a good way to bring in the New Year :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2021:
yep, that's the alcohol. turns out soon after i wrote about the job, i got some info by text. so i do need to be ready and out the door early Monday. I think i'll take public transportation, not sure if there was much parking at the main office where i'm headed..instead of asking questions, i'll show up and figure it out after day 1.

grannyannie on 01/01/2021:
I use Whatsapp for videochats with those who have it and FB messenger for others. Zoom only for a lot of people.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2021:
yeah, we decided we like Whatsapp over FB messenger :)

Maria7 on 01/01/2021:
Wow, what a price increase! Hope you are having a good day.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2021:
right!? i was prob better off purchasing it at a bigger store instead of the dollar store for it, but, just bought it anyways.

innerpeace on 01/01/2021:
Wow congrats about the job - I hope it works out and it is something you enjoy doing. Happy New Year Indeed!

bearcountrygg on 01/01/2021:
Alcohol is used as a sanitizer so they aren't going to let that pass by with those old prices....Taking advantage of it's sudden popularity.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2021:
for sure!

Maria7 on 01/01/2021:
Yes, sometimes best is get it while you can and pay a higher price so at least you will have it.

horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2021:
Yes I just wanted to get it in the fastest possible way ;) indeed !!

happy-1 on 01/02/2021:
Good, strong dedication to staying happy and outdoors. I like it!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2021:
i'm thinking of keeping a 2021 running total of hours spent in the sun, outside!!!! :)

may just keep the tally here, easy. so that starts today. someone had a 1,000 hr challenge, but that may be too much for me...i'll see where i'm at this year to start!

Horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2021:
oh my, thought you were "jacky" on here....hello Happy!!! welcome back!

(counting calories/walking/elliptical/weights)
Weight: 113.0

9am mini cheesecake 250, coffee 50, low sugar super soft sour gummies 100. 400...

10:30 deciding on a weird indulgence, spicy cheetos (too much for me, but surprisingly addictive) 200, grapes 100. didn't like the chips, i think i'll throw the rest out...too artifical for me, i'm not a fan of those very strong snack chip flavors especially with cheese...but good for the guy who got rich creating them! (a mexican immigrant who worked as janitor for fritolay!)..he did good!

11:45am pb 100 , very snacky day, don't want to eat a big lunch or meal now...still didn't do weights...starting SOON! LOL. but i did shower before workout out since i felt GROSS.

1pm starting workout after a nap....for real...i'm really relaxing....and wonderfing what's going on when the 4th comes...thinking it's gonna be delayed...work on the 4th i mean...i don't know the address or time...so, unless i learn that, it's gonna be delayed.

2pm-2:30 mini cornbread still at semi beginning of workout 50, lower sugar peach gummies (found a bunch at specialty food store that's why i have been indulging..sorta went on a small binge-shopping yesterday after seeing cousin...)

3pm-3:30...bad eating, hungry all day. pb 100...still working out, half done..part of a garlic knot (mediium size) to finish later...300? just trying to keep calories moderate so i can eat at least one decent meal later, with actual nutrition.

5:30pm apple 100

7:30 spicy cheetos flavor is totally growing on me! 350 cals lol, few brussel sprouts, negl.,

cruddy eating day, trying to stay up i think but just want to go to sleep and stop eating really tonight!

10:40 gummies, with sugar lol 150....will prob go to bed shortly.

1950..

I also did some cleaning during workout, cleaned the brita filter finally. needed to do that. usually, i guess i prob replace the filter around 3 times a year. good i did it, was a little grungy / black smudge on a small area of the brita canister, nothing much, but good to 100% clean!

I still haven't heard from the Super on the details of a job i'm supposed to start on Monday? so i'm actually thinking there may be a delay of start date...we are def last minute now...Yes, i did message him to call me as a reminder, but, nothing.  I'm not worrying, just saying.

Thursday, Dec. 31st:

upper body weights & lower body also THURSDAY morning.

cook mashed potatoes.

possibly think of other things to cook at home? - but i do have a lot of things here, just no meat...maybe defrost and cook something?

maybe do some of that sweeping of floors tonight ;)...lol it does sound like Cinderalla, Jacky! haha

Days ahead:

- sweep/dust wood floors / clean bathroom / let water out of toilet tank and wipe it down, add water back...

Laundry...

FRIDAY, Jan 1st:

need a new bottle of rubbing alcohol, like to have this at home, good for wiping down phone, my pimpling slicing metal devices, LOL, and anything else i need it for!...even for wiping down sink sometimes quickly. tends to last me awhile, the rubbing alcohol. will see how much it is on amazon, or just pick it up locally, Friday. we'll see..

Saturday, Jan 2 :)

The rescheduled nature walk at Alley Pond Park, but weather permitting

bearcountrygg on 12/31/2020:
I'm surprised that they do nature walks in the winter.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2020:
me too, they do all sorts of unique things. nature walk was supposed to be in december so maybe they decided to try to "still make it happen" rather than refund the few folks that wanted to go ;)

yeah, i was sort of surprised to. then again, i think it's usually not as cold here as it is by you?

and i also think we're going to get rather warm weather that day, like 50F...we'll see..

innerpeace on 12/31/2020:
What is the reason to wipe down the inside of the toilet tank? Just asking and wondering if this is something I should be doing. I know my step-dad would get coffee water from there when our water would freeze back when I was growing up, but this is the first I've heard of wiping/cleaning it down.

Happy New Year!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2020:
oh! there's a little sediment going on there...and i think it's causing the plastic closure thing to not completely seal and that is causing the water to leak here and there...not leak on the floor or anything, but leak and keeps the water flowing a little when the toilet shouldn't be having any water going into the bowl (unless i flush!)....so, it's wasting water.

i've replaced the flusher, a maintenance guy gave me a new one like a year ago, with NO help...toilet still continues to run here and there and waste water.

i don't really mind, since it's not getting worse, but i think i should clean the bowl so the seal closes better...

if you don't have this problem, you prob don't need to clean it. :)

i'm just trying to do everything i can to fix this...if it doesn't work,i'm gonna let it be.

i don't pay for water, all one price overall for maintenance, so it's not a big deal if i can't fix it, but it's annoying hearing the water slightly moving about when i'm not flushing.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

legcramps on 12/31/2020:
BF loves spicy cheesies; he mixes them with regular ones to balance out the spiciness LOL.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2020:
YEAH...they are VERY spicy. it's a bit much overall for me, and i'm not a big cheesy snack fan either. but wanted to give them a try. they seem extremely popular.

grannyannie on 12/31/2020:
Love cheese, love spicy.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2020:
not a big fan of cheese, but was thinking to get back into sliced cheese in New Year for a "meatless sandwich..." to just have grilled cheese as it's easy and inexpensive, thinking it's a good light dinner after work.

Jacky82020 on 12/31/2020:
HOP! You sound like Cinderella with all those household chores! Poor thing.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2020:
lol, it does sound like that! but it's far easier than Cinderella's chores ;)

Maria7 on 12/31/2020:
Wow, you have a very BUSY schedule! Hope you are having a good day!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2020:
it just sounds that way, i'm not really busy at all. just glad to get this workout on the go!! :)

Happy New Year!

Jacky82020 on 12/31/2020:
Well, maybe you’ll land the Prince, HOP

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2020:
love it ;)

visit older cousin & bake corn bread with him...he has special needs, will be a good visit...parents want me to wear a mask so i will, while i'm with him...so after baking, will prob not stay too, too long. maybe 2 hours for the entire visit bc it's too much wiith the mask and since we have to type to understand each other since he speaks sign language...was good, ended up being around 3 hours together...and altogether with driving around and stuff, a nice 4 hour fun time. DONE!

Always a very busy and productive schedule!

Are you going to learn sign language? I thought about doing that when it was on offer at a community colleges years ago, but never did.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2020:
a teacher friend of mine did it, for extra certification in teaching students who speak languages other than English...it seems challenging a language to learn with lots of memorization.

no, i am not really interested in learning it, although, i should learn the alphabet...would make him happy...haven't worked on it yet though. i do have it saved in my email, the alphabet, and i was starting to learn it when work was slow (a few years ago)...but forgot it all.

bearcountrygg on 12/30/2020:
Have fun with your cousin today!!! I know he will enjoy your company...he likes to look after you...

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2020:
was GREAT...worked out well, cooked the muffins a little too much bc they were small and therefore needed quite a bit less time...but still decent.

Maria7 on 12/30/2020:
I know you both will enjoy the cornbread. I like it, too. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/30/2020:
got a little overcooked, but still decent :) we made minis and they cooked VERY fast.

Donkey on 12/31/2020:
I'm glad you had an enjoyable time with your cousin.

Thinking of you doing weights this morning has me thinking of skiing weights as well. I need to start up again with weights.

I seem to be a day behind in commenting, so... if you write today, I'll comment on today's entry.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/31/2020:
yeah, i am still seeing your comments :)

yeah, i have totally skipped a day this week of weights, i was already losing strength from skipping about a week last week, but we'll get back to it, no problem!

11am already back home early after volunteering, no traffic either so took only just under 15 min to get home!..50 in coffee, 150 in vanilla wafer cookies 200 total.

1:30 lunch: split pea soup 100 leftovers, turkey white meat leftovers 150, chips 50, wine 100..400

6pm snack 4 vanilla wafers 150

 Today:

fill out housing papers that they want back (just on if windows are fallproof / childproof - most are in the building even if no kids); drop off maintenance (rent) check - but i don't rent, it's a co-op - so it's really called maintenance...and walk these papers over to housing, 5 min walk...but i don't think i'm going to stay outside (it's rather windy and cold and i'd rather use my indoor bike) since i've been walking lots the past couple days i do not feel inspired for any other walks outdoors today...

cook brussel sprouts...definite to roast...in progress, DONE :)

cook mashed potatoes...need to check i have the correct ingredients...!..maybe tomorrow? or later today :) Wednesday or Thursday.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
yeah, it's a challenge is right ;) i get very moist under the mask, but i can do it for awhile as long as i have tissues nearby...i tend to develop lots of...snot!..in my nose from the moisture / mask wearing.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
yes, it should be a good time, not too long a visit either. should be nice in the afternoon!

bearcountrygg on 12/29/2020:
I'll bet corona regrets their name.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
haha right!? it was originally i think italian (i don't think it was hispanic or even very spanish even though the wikipedia says it's italian/spanish for CROWN! haha...they named it corona for being the "crown of Queens!" hahaha never knew that was the meaning of Corona.!!!

now, it's hispanic/spanish and also Asian! lol...and it did have lots of corona cases because people aren't wealthy there, lots of immigrants, lots of people living under the same roof...perfect conditions for Coronavirus rates to skyrocket. so it was pretty bad in Corona....15 min ride by car from me, without traffic.

for folks that live in Corona, it's closer to NYC than me, a faster commute also. Probably takes 15min less by train to reach the city, if you live there, which is a plus to living there. but it's a much more crowded area than by me, in Fresh Meadows...and like i said it's mostly Hispanic or Asian.

I wanted to look up the population and here it is: According to the 2010 Census, the total population of Corona was about 110,000...so it's a very, very dense place! one again, there's more apartments, less homes, less space. glad i do not live there!

Jacky82020 on 12/29/2020:

Jacky82020 on 12/29/2020:
Do those sprouts stink up the place while cooking? Recall strong odor when boiled

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
I actually left my apartment while i started them in the oven to quickly pay my maintenance sorta down the block, coming back around 20 min later and when they were just about finishing...from the hallway, i'll tell you, YES, they smelled up the area with the typical cooked cabbage smell :)

when i got off the elevator i was like, "wow, they smelled up the hallway!"

Jacky82020 on 12/29/2020:
LOL. That’s kinda hilarious.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
YES.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
hi jacky, it's a small area...but densely packed.

bearcountrygg on 12/29/2020:
Does your building have a space under their doors to the shared hallways? We've lived in 4 apartments over the years 1 was actually a garage, one had a door to the outside so no hallway....but the 2 we had in the last 14 ( While I was taking care of my parents downstate ( and we also had this place)...did have shared halls and there really was no privacy at all...It may have been about fire safety? I don't know....but one time D came down to the apartment for Thanksgiving dinner...and we didn't know it...but he left the door open and we were sitting there eating in the dining room and the door was wide open to everyone else on our floor......made try to think back to everything we said during that hour it was open...LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
HAHA...luckily in my apt building, it's made with more concrete (not wood between floors/rooms)...there is better noise protection than most of the buildings built a few years before mine in the same small neighborhood...so i got lucky, noise travels less. unfortunately, my bathroom shares a wall with the neighbor's bedroom and boy is that annoying. many times in order to have more privacy when pee/pooping, i turn the water on LOL while i do my thing!

yes, i think there might be a little, small gap between the door and the hallway. the smells def fill the hallway if someone cooks, but not in a bad way. i mostly don't mind at all.

and like i was saying, most normal talking voices don't spread too much at all, but yelling will very easily.

bearcountrygg on 12/29/2020:
About 7 years ago...the apartment we had was on the middle floor of a 3 story building so I heard people above and below....but a kid upstairs over ours unhooked the toilet water pipe in the middle of the night...and flooded theirs...ours and the floor below,.....i stepped out of bed in the dark into several inches of water...what a mess...the Mother didn't even know....I called maintenance and the guy was really nice....but he had to go up and wake that woman...and the woman below me...they had no idea....what a mess...the ceiling was ruined...and showed what we were told was concrete...but was really concrete board which is very different.....I know what you mean about noise.......other apartment with people over us was pretty interesting too........you get to know a lot about people that you don't know...LOL

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
yes totally...i am thankful i don't live in the buildings that are more wooden on the inside...it's not near as bad as it could be...and, luckily, all my nearby neighbors are adults, nobody under 21, the younger ones living with their parents (between ages of 21-27)...and it's rather QUIET thank the LORD! other people in my overall community...don't have it so good! i know some people that lived in the other buildings, with many complaints about their neighbors, for sure!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:
What a terrible kid! LOL

innerpeace on 12/29/2020:

Horn_of_plenty on 12/29/2020:

Mmm...cheesecake for breakfast. You know how to live!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/28/2020:
it's great and small portions so it's good and perfect for breakfast with a little coffee and fruit! :)

Jacky82020 on 12/28/2020:
Lol. I second that, Annie,

Jacky82020 on 12/28/2020:
Once I made a tofu “cheesecake.” Ghastly! Everyone hated it! Down the garbage disposal!!!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/28/2020:
hahahahaha....that's so unfortunate that it wasn't good!

grannyannie on 12/28/2020:
There is a hardware/housewares store here that also has a very nice cafe in it. Tuesday is (pre-Covid) cheesecake day and they have the most amazing looking cheesecakes - each one has a different type of sweet or candy on top of it. They show pics on FB so I haven't actually had one yet. I've thought about having some when I deserve a reward or reach my goal. By the time it's safe to eat out again I'm sure I'll be at goal.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/28/2020:
should be quite a perfect reward! i'm glad mine don't have any more added sugar...and still taste great.

bearcountrygg on 12/28/2020:
Actually cheesecake has a lot of nutrition...

Horn_of_plenty on 12/28/2020:
HAHA...well it is very satisfying! :)

Jacky82020 on 12/28/2020:
And lots of calories! My recipe for NY cheesecake used 2.5 pounds of cream cheese, sugar & eggs. delish!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/28/2020:
lol yeah! i'm glad i replaced all sugar with erythritol...look that one up ;)

Jacky82020 on 12/28/2020:
Yeah, I’m familiar with it, Still my cheesecake baking days are over. Sad.

Seems a lot warmer where you are. Enjoy the walk with mom.

legcramps on 12/28/2020:
Have a great walk with your Mom! Sounds like it is very nice there weather wise. We got even more snow yesterday AGHH! LOL

I am envious of your cheesecake. I would love to try it but am lactose-intolerant, so i'll just watch from a distance ;)

Horn_of_plenty on 12/28/2020:
UGH...sorry you got MORE SNOW (but you are in Canada, after all haha!)

and sorry you cannot delve into cheesecake...def a bad idea for you!

Donkey on 12/29/2020:
Hope your walk with mom was enjoyable. Oh how I wish I could do the same with mine.

I like your plans for today and tomorrow.

I understand not wanting to talk about a job or the job right now. So I won't say much more either. Just know that I'm cheering you on, whatever may come.

Haven’t had brussel sprouts in ages. Ate them smothered with cheese sauce back in the olden days. Now all vegetables plain except for hot sauce. Sad!

horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2020:
Roast it all....you can be a lightweight and enjoy your veggies too!

grannyannie on 12/27/2020:
Haven't had brussel sprouts in ages, but hubby can cook them just right. Last week when I shopped before xmas they were piled high! They are the 'official' vegetable of xmas dinner here.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2020:
that's funny how it's the official veggie...i have recently met many people who dislike them! it's prob not a veggie they had at their home countries before moving here to the US.

Donkey on 12/27/2020:
Brussel sprouts cooked with bacon - YUM... Or cooked in butter with parm cheese. That's probably not how you'll be cooking them. They're good in the oven too.

I hope you had an enjoyable date. A date! It's good to get out with someone new and enjoy his/her company. That is to say, meeting up with new people is great, date or otherwise :-)

Oh but I hope your ankle doesn't punish you for that walk!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2020:
yeah, with a guy (lol, not a girl! haha)...it was good and the walking, THANKFULLY, posed no issue to me since it was SLOW and relaxed thankfully. ;)

i will prob roast them once i halve the brussels.

randomly he asked me THIS MORNING if i wanted to join him at the park...was nice. prob not someone to date, but, he's very smart and i was nice to be with someone like him, although i was a little nervous. he was a very interesting fellow. bought me a late lunch, thanked him for that!

Jacky82020 on 12/27/2020:
Spill. Anything besides a stroll?

Used to boil the B spouts Roasting sounds better!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2020:
yeah, roasting is just better on all...i will be commenting on everyone's diaries later tonight after i finish this semi-lousy weights workout!...

i think i'll write more tomorrow about the date, as i am not working yet (most prob next week after the New Year) so i'll have the time to write a little about it when i'm up in the morning :)

sorry i am sometimes slow to comment on your / everyone's entries...i do plan to later tonight!

Jacky82020 on 12/27/2020:
If he drops by, I’d suggest serving cheeseburgers and Pepsi instead of kombucha and roasted vegetables lol

I don’t post much in the evenings myself. Up early & enough posting is enough

Horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2020:
lol, he doesn't live close to me...he's in Manhattan and i'm in Queens...prob 45 min at the speediest...

you are so right! he's def a cheeseburger guy..not sure he drinks soda though!

Weight: 113.0

woke up, drank some leftover spiked cider, freshened up, cleaned gp cage, took short walk to buy cream cheese and eggs - the only things i need for this no sugar added cheesecake! came home, put gp fleeces in the wash, breakfast time :)

11:30am later breakfast: apricot chobani yogurt (was on sale, bought just a couple) 150 added in some of my cooked cranberry spread 50, 4 vanilla wafers that were on sale too (they ran out of my favorite which is chocolate filling ...but these are fine too!) 150..350...and some coffee 50...

2pm gummies, fruit flavors, Sunkist brand 150

4pm tastes of cheese cake mix 50, later a good split pea canned soup with added in extra, extra veggies 250.

6pm small dinner: leftover deli chicken small bit 50, chips 200, neighbor dropped off some home cooking of turnips that I tried already and stuffing which was really good 150

1250.

small muscles: my biceps have always been small compared to my shoulders...so in the new year, there's one thing i want to work on actually...i want to figure out a plan for bigger biceps...which might even mean lifting lighter hopes, but i hope not...or i may add in ONE exercise for biceps...one more...will do research in the days to come!!! :) i want to see if i can acually grow my biceps a little, this year, to match my shoulders.

Mini crustless cheesecakes - come with a cafe / coffee flavor Hershey's kiss (what I have ) and some with sprinkling of pumpkin pie spice lol. Wish I had jelly...oh, my cranberries !!!

bake cheesecake today!!!

bearcountrygg on 12/26/2020:
we ate up our cheesecake last night...was good.....but it did have sugar......interested in how you make yours without sugar.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2020:
mine will have sugar too, but, no "added sugar." so, instead of adding regular what sugar, i'll add something like either monk fruit or erythritol or allulose, i will choose based on what is in my kitchen cabinet. that will be the only difference. everything else will be the same. it'll just cut some calories, that's all...switching to a low sugar alternative sweetener instead of sugar.

Jacky82020 on 12/26/2020:
Love cheesecake! Used to bake NY ones, a bit dryer than others. Now the husband buys them from the Walmart bakery, usually the variety cake. Love the chocolate slices, frozen.

horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2020:
Take a look ! I used what was on hand - some have a Hershey’s cafe flavored kiss and some sprinkled with pumpkin spice...will add some cranberries to some !! Trying to give to neighbors

bearcountrygg on 12/26/2020:
They really look good!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2020:
thank you... will not add my cranberries to the ones i am giving my neighbors bc i am not sure if i was using dirty spoons when i was taking some of the cooked cranberries for myself...and don't want to contaminate the food i give to neighbors on purpose! LOL thank you! :) i have found that using a small serving size and baking everything in muffin molds is good for giving out to people ;)

Jacky82020 on 12/26/2020:
Yummy! I want one. Or two. Or three. Etc

horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2020:
Did you know it Includes some lemon juice ? Thankfully I had a lemon bc my only lemon juice contains basil in it - accidental purchase ! So I’m glad I still have a few lemons in the fridge !

Jacky82020 on 12/26/2020:
Been so long since I made cheesecake that I don’t remember if Lemon’s a common ingredient. I remember lots of cream cheese, sugar, eggs, flour and vanilla .

Horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2020:
it called for around 1 tbsp...glad i had it!

yes, mostly it was cream cheese!

instead of sugar, i used a low calorie sweetener

Jacky82020 on 12/26/2020:
Wow! Some kind of foreshortening going on? Your arms look huge and the hips/legs really skinny

horn_of_plenty on 12/26/2020:
Lol I’m mostly standing in a strange posture and it’s also giving a more defined look to my arm bc of it ;) but my arms are strong - my legs are not! No definition at all there ! I don’t force anything on them anymore either !!

Jacky82020 on 12/26/2020:
Hah! So you know how to pose like all those chicks in the muscle magazines! Cool.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2020:
thank you, it's a rainy & windy day, just laying low, mostly off the internet ;)...Merry Christmas to you!

Jacky82020 on 12/25/2020:
I’m eliminating yogurt from my diet, just threw away 8 cartons. Reducing dairy. But when I did eat it, almost everyday, nonfat plain Greek with cocoa and decaf instant coffee stirred in was my fave.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2020:
right!? you can't go wrong with those add-ins. i also stir in stevia, of course!

too bad i'm not your neighbor, i'd come over to pick up that yogurt!...LOL, you could have donated it!

then again, you are not one to want to interact with the public during Covid! :)

Jacky82020 on 12/25/2020:
Wouldn’t know who to donate it to! Lol. Thought those places collecting food always ask for nonperishables & purchase, meat, dairy, produce etc from big vendors. Or get donations, idk

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2020:
True. only good way (in my mind and what i'd do!...because i am a nut!)...is to drive / walk around and find someone in need and give it straight to them! ...that's easy around here.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2020:
you're right...most don't take perishables so easily.

Maria7 on 12/25/2020:
Thank you and merry Christmas to you, too! I see that you are still volunteering. I know they are happy for your help. Hope you have a wonderful evening, HOP.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2020:
Merry Christmas, Maria!

Yes! still volunteering. Last session of my volunteering will be next week. Then, I have a feeling it will be over for a long while.

I'll heading back to work, g-d willing that's the plan, in the New Year. it will be a lot to get back into. I'll also be taking a somewhat short online class...and want to keep my exercising routine...so i have feeling that'll be enough for the Winter season!

anyways, have a nice weekend!

bearcountrygg on 12/25/2020:
Sounds like you had a good day...I LOVE lazy days!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2020:
wait...is it me or you like to be productive!? haha...well, i was extra lazy for you ;)

but at the end, decided on a weights workout, so i don't have to deal with that tomorrow ;)

Jacky82020 on 12/25/2020:
Not possible here, HOP. I live in an upscale neighborhood. They’d think I’m crazy & dial 911. I kid you not.

I do leave food out for the wild animals. Deer, turkeys, raccoons, possums, squirrels, chipmunks etc. Not a one ate the kale or any yogurt. Very unusual for food to go untouched overnight.

Wishing you a happy day today!

A good idea to spend the day relaxing! Aside from my morning bike ride, I had about 4 hours of productivity, and the rest was just relaxing. Took a nice long nap with Baby Kitty on my lap.

Donkey on 12/26/2020:
I find baking to be very relaxing and therapeutic. I know you said cheesecake, but have you thought about making bread? It can take a few times to perfect the techniques. It's also a lot of "hands on" with the kneading. If you plait (braid) the bread, then that's more.

I'm sure you had a great Hanukah season with your family this month HOP...I know you enjoyed a lot of delicious foods.....and sorry to hear that your family had a covid scare....but apparently all are okay?

horn_of_plenty on 12/24/2020:
Yes it seems nephew only has it and seems sister may not have it or just be asymptotic and I guess my parents didn’t get it luckily! So sister is with her child back in the city and away from my parents so everyone can remain healthy :-) thanks for asking! And yes the cooked cranberries are quite perfect in the oats making everything sweet - I should skip the raisins next time or just use less ;)

bearcountrygg on 12/24/2020:
I'm glad to tried that with the cranberries...it sounds good.

grannyannie on 12/24/2020:
Happy holidays!! Peace.

Donkey on 12/25/2020:
A foot massage sounds lovely! Do you find it helps?

Horn_of_plenty on 12/25/2020:
i find it feels so great!!! :) yes. i tend to have some tension / soreness near arch of my left foot and it helps tons. it's a good tool and i should use it more. I also like that it gets the blood flowing, possibly, by massaging my feet and not just sitting on couch with them up off the ground.

i think it helps. and it's better than doing it myself!

Donkey on 12/23/2020:
Have fun volunteering today! Kind is sad it's good-bye for now, but what a wonderful experience you've had there! (Same for the Senior Center)

I loved Bankruptcy Law. That's an area that's very paralegal involved. And I think we'll be seeing a lot more bankruptcies in the near future.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2020:
yes, it was a good last time, found a great spot too! little traffic also :)

i will get thru that course somehow, hopefully learn a few things, while also starting work (fingers crossed). i'm sure i'll be BUSY enough!

bearcountrygg on 12/23/2020:
Looks like a few breaks for a few days.......but you are probably ready for a little quiet time too......

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2020:
yeah, i was hoping it wouldn't be a break for as long, but there's not much going on during holiday week in the volunteering world anyways!

i'll see about some cooking, perhaps...

also need to clean my bathroom (can you believe how easily i put that off!?)

and i'm sure i'll get back to weight lifting that i've not done this week due to being quite tired from volunteering, not wanting to strain my body.

legcramps on 12/23/2020:
Have a great day today!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2020:
you know it!

grannyannie on 12/23/2020:
I enjoyed working with the elderly. It was the last job I had before retiring.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2020:
the elderly are a wonderful group of folks. they've been around a long time and have the most life experience. usually very nice people!
