Got a morning walk in - now i can do my work and it's still morning. Went on another walk in PM and the interview never happened. tomrorow I'll go thru another excel tutorial bc I think I have a few of them on my computer. 


i may have another interview, but still hoping to go to current company :)


i set my clock to 8am, i am starting to get up earlier this week.  I took a walk on the earlier side and trying now (10:30am) to set down to study some Excel tutorials i have on my computer for my own knowledge. 

I started and stopped many things during this pandemic time while i have been home approx 3 months:

- continueed reading about half of the project managment textbook that i own (then stopped because i felt it was repetitive)

- started to study my paralegal flash cards (but stopped in the middle for no reason, just didn't finish) it went well while i was studying

- bought a intro to stock trading book and was listening to it on audible but stopped around midway with it because i got nervous that it will not help me at all NOW.

NOW: bought a $2,000 3.5 month course on Paralegal.  it's not a great course, but it's a course with a certificate that can be helpful for the future.  Now that i'm still not working and the future is so up in the air, i have decided on this course for a few reasons, but the main one is i feel it's just the right time to try to get this course done and be able to add it to my resume in the future because there will be two tests for court assistant coming out DOWN THE ROAD like in 3 years....and this course and saying i took it is an advantage for me.  I feel i may still be out of work thru July and if so, I will be doing this course while still home. 

It would have been better if i had signed up for this course earlier while being home during Pandemic, i could have completed the whole thing by now almost! But, I'm doing it to add it to my resume and i can list that it's a course i am taking that is approved by a local college. Like i said, it's not the best course.  But, many paralegal certificates were requiring internships which i could NOT do with a full time job...so i am satsified to take this course for a certificate. 

Course starts in 2 weeks, i'll do other free things online until then and also start reading the textbook assignments a week before the online Paralegal course begins (meaning next week i'll be reviewing the books). I should be pretty busy now. and if i go back to work, it's going to be stressful with this course that is going to last into October, but, I feel this is the BEST time right now to take it & get it DONE for a Paralegal certificate.  It's 100% online. Lots of reading / writing.

yes, $2,000 was a lot to spend. but, yes, i have it in my savings and more. so i decided to use it now for it may give me a greater return later in terms of a permanent type of JOB.

i need to somehow get my options for future to widen up. so once i take this course, i can figure out what i am going to do next in terms of seeking more education. i still have 2 union courses i was taking one already...in my current field, but they are weekend courses in person and are on pause until further notice thankfully...i don't think the class that was on pause will even start in October yet, so it's good i do this Paralegal course now...

it does seem i cannot "coast" anymore with my job: no matter how tiring it is to work full time, it seems i'm going to have to keep studying & hope i can stay employed with this company i am still unemployed with because of Covid...

just thinking.  

antoher reason i'm taking the course now, which i spoke of earlier, is that it starts in two weeks, and i feel it will end before everything goes back to normal....so i'm taking it while things are in the flux but will have it done also when things are still not normal. so i feel i'll have used the state of upheval going on now to advance my education and knowledge - and i'll have the certifiate to prove it.  this certificate is specifically beause i want it later when i am looking to apply to work in the courts in two entry level positions to open around 3 years, maybe more maybe less.

You can do it all...went through that myself with home, work and school at the same time......it really did force me to structure my time in a way I had never done before. It was rewarding and I loved it....and I didn't even mind doing my homework at 3 A.M. when the place was silent......as long as you have the drive to accomplish that you will make it work.

you are right. i am sure it's going to be stressful as you know i love to "exercise" and lift weights...i will have to emphasize that stuff even less to do this course while i work...you are right in everything you mentioned. thank you for the advice.

I'm so proud of you for signing up gift the paralegal courses! I think you'll love it.

I give you a lot of credit for starting the projects that you did. Don't worry that you didn't finish.

Taking the paralegal classes will help you with time management. As long as you stay on top of the workload, you'll be fine.

signed up for an online fast paced certificate paralegal program which will be done in 16 weeks from now. Not the best course or highest rated but I will have the certificate in the future when I may need it. I want this course on my resume for future use. So like I said, the course will be fast paced and fully online thru Mid October ! Lots of reading and writing.

i'm taking the "fast" course. it's not the best course or most approved course, but it's going to start in a couple weeks and end in mid-october.

then, when the time does come (in 3 years or so) to do an application to work in the courts, i will say i took this course. i just feel the time couldn't be more RIGHT to knock out this 3.5 month course.

i KNOW the course will NOT help me right now, but i also know it can help me in the future when i might need it.

Always a good idea to brush up on Excel skills. Also, if you can find it cheaply, having Quickbooks skills is a good thing to have in the job market. It may not be applicable to what you're doing now, but there are administrative jobs that do want that. It's usually just so darn expensive.

 Up around the same time as usual, lots of sleep lol.  never did weights yesterday - so doing them along with laundry this morning because it all needs to be done, especially the fleeces for the guniea pigs!

not the best calories but dinner was tasty 

big bbq tonight so will be watching a bit....and also need to buy a pie for dad..as well as more veggies for guinea pigs...really low on them.

got the pie but not the veggies bc I was running late :( my own fault not planning the day but I did exercise my upper body and my legs 



my skills are bare minimum for assistant proj manager in electrical.  seems many of the positions even want a bachelors in engineering or related business field (mine is education).  i'm looking. i may have an opportunity to stay with current company for a short time / moderate time longer. i'm seeing what is possible.  trying to see about any connections. i hadn't expected to need to get a job this early. we will see what happens. i may stay somehow with current company although i can tell that working in estimating would prob not be most desireable. i'm trying to see if i can be used anywhere else in the large company.

also, i was looking at admin assistant positions...most require previous experience at "calendaring" and making extensive travel plans for executives...i don't have that. i am thinking to take an online course starting on the weekend in "calendaring" with the most popular office / email software...

I think you'd really enjoy the paralegal classes. I'm not sure I can recommend it as a career, but it would probably help you if you go for the court job in the future. Helps to network as much as you can.

yes, the union DOES help with job placement you are totally correct. seems positions can take LONG times to find. i know one person out 3 months (ricky previously was around 2yrs ago) and i know another person who was out around 6-9 months! worst case scenarios i'd think..

yes, it would help me (paralegal course) with a job in future...i need to see if there's anything not so expensive online out there.

yeah, also job location not good for the other person i had involved...my "current" project manager i had brought up..saying she might be looking too as an estimator and we could be a great team for them. they were interested but accidentally i had told them a no before another yes. so it got complicated. but it's over. as their location was not good for her, a single mom, who may not be able to do that sort of commute with a young daughter still. i had mentioned i was a member of a really strong team...that i'd like to continue to work with my manager...they were so interested to potentially HIRE US BOTH but there was a miscommunication between the whole thing by myself...a yes...to a no....to a yes....and it complicated things and the owner / other man were put off by this "drama."

moving onto more opportunities now.

My husband is a great cook and makes Indian and Thai curries. I like medium spicy and he likes hot so he adds chilis or hot sauce to his. He uses coconut milk in the Thai curries.

the day started out crazy where I was awoken to my phone beeping like I just got a message or two. Yup. The owner of this new company was calling saying he got my resume for a potential assistant  estimating (what I've done but not good at - just assistant) position..... 

he tells me they have this software (not familiar myself with it) 

the conversation went well though.

i also had to contact his VP.

i will meet them both Monday morning at 7:30am on the job site of a housing project located in Harlem. Currently deciding if I will drive myself, coerce ricky to come or take a ride from my dad (least interested to go with dad). 
it's a low income poor area I'm going to, to meet them at a project they have and will both be there. I really have no cares about myself - just my car. Ricky said my car should be fine and he thinks it's ok for me to go alone - usually he's not very supportive about going out of my safety zone so I think it's good to just go alone if ricky says it.



I sold another item on Facebook marketplace. To someone I know from religious orientation in my childhood services and some after school stuff. I really think she's nice and wonderful. 
but it didn't go well when she came to pick up the exercise mat....

she accidentally ( I wasn't there but seems this is the case) had her dad back his nice SUV into a fire hydrant. 

they are not familiar much with my neighborhood or Queens.

his car got damaged (I didn't go close enough to walk around to the back to see the damage)

he was literally continuously cursing and screaming at his daughter at noon on a sunny Saturday for everyone to see.

the commotion is what I literally walked out to see when I went to see her and I was already having a tough emotional week.

the whole thing was hard to watch bc she knew she was in the wrong I guess her dad backed into it but he must have been trusting her to help him ..... it was just too much emotion of his screaming and cursing and everything at her and she actually took it way better than me. My neighbor had been coming down the elevator with me and saw I was shocked and neighbor too was shocked. She asked me what was happening and I Nair starting crying and went to hug neighbor and walked back to apt and went back upstairs. I didn't want her to even pay me after I saw what happened but she Venmo me the money just a moment ago. 

too much craziness for a week, you know ?

i just don't like seeing so much frustration and commotion. And i think the pandemic is really hurting everyone now emotionally.

But when I have like a really low calorie count and / or very hungry it kinda works out when I order something heavy but a small serving - similar to how candy usually works with me - Keep the serving small and it works out good enough ;) of course little nutrition but at least it was chicken on a biscuit which is good in a balanced sorta carb fat protein ratio ;)

And, it hit the spot !

But you are very right and fast food can certainly get out of hand.
