Back from a long weekend trip to mum and dad's. We went to the lake and did some fun things. It is good to be home though. I am starting to feel a bit better though now my lungs are trying to evacuate all the garbage that built up in them the past week when I was sick. I got on the elliptical today planning to do both the elliptical and the treadmill but I feel fortunate to get through what Idid on the treadmill. I had a tight cough when I got off and am realizing that I tend to push myself really hard sometimes and then get hurt somehow and have to get out of exercise altogether for a while and end up in worse shape than before. So, I am not getting on the treadmill today and may cut things back a little more tomorrow, depending on how I feel.

My eating wasn't totally overboard this weekend but, as usual, could have been better. Keeping my entries short still while I am adjusting to the night shift. I got an email today from the educator who wants to meet with me about my final paperwork of orientation!!!! Hopefully, I will be off in a week and a half and on my own.

I hope all are well and reaching their goals.

I am sure your meeting will be successful :) Congrats on getting through orientation, I am so proud of you! So happy that you are feeling better and had a great visit with your folks. I got to test out my friend's elliptical over the weekend (which I hope will soon be at my house) and that is serious business! Good work getting on the treadmill after being sick, you'll get back up to speed in no time.

I am still trying to get used to switching to nights but this time with a twist. I have picked up some cold or something from somewhere. I haven't been able to get on my elliptical or treadmill since Monday. One day at work they had too many orientees so I volunteered to go home and just slept slept slept! I felt better two nights ago and went in (we wear masks when we don't feel well- but  I have to wear a mask all the time because I refuse to get a flu shot since I very nearly stopped breathing last time I did (another day another story)). I am scared I am not going to have any stamina when I do get back on. ARGH.

I am keeping this short and trying to get back into making entries, and hopefully, more regularly.

I hope all are doing well and reaching their goals.

I really wouldn't worry about cutting any weight or excersising until you feel better. If it happens it happens. If it doesn't, well we'll work on that later. I just want you to get well.

I am so sorry that you are coming down with something :( Yeah I didn't get my flu shot either, it has been years for me, the last time i got really ill so I opt out. Not sure if it is the right thing to do but i haven't been sick since..Hope you make your adjustment soon, that has to be challenging..Take care of yourself girl, i miss ya <3

It has been a while since I made an entry. Switching to nights has been difficult. I am hoping to get my schedule straightened out soon. I miss entering and hope to be doing so again on a daily basis soon. I have been keeping up my exercise for the most part and the scale has finally started moving in the correct direction.

I hope all are doing well and reaching their goals.

Congrats on your loss! I am sure it is tough to make that adjustment, I hope it doesn't mess with your sleep..RYC I am feeling alot better, just started taking St.John's Wort to ease the anxiety and it really helps..Thanks for checking on me, I hope to catch up with you soon :)

Wow, I know it has been so long since I have been here. In my defense, and it is a small one at that. I have been trying to keep up my exercises and everything else. I finally entered the last phase of my orientation at work, which was going to nights.I did my first night shift stretch over W-T-F nights. It will take a while to get used to doing nights but I think I will like it. I just wish they wouldn't have taken so long to get to. The other thing that made things so difficult on my time was adding the extra 30 minutes to my workout during the day. I am not sure but I am thinking that I am just going to have to skip here the days that I work. There is just too much to get done before leaving for work.

I hope all are doing well and reaching their goals.

Another short entry today. Yesterday's food wasn't horrible, I don't think but I didn't track it like I should have. I found out that one of the soups I have been eating in the cafeteria at work has CHICKEN STOCK!!!!! I was a bit upset. It was called canadian cheese soup. I looked at the list of ingredients and it said gluten, soy, etc but didn't say chicken stock. I thought about asking just to be sure because the cashier had told me last time she thought it might have bacon (I am also Jewish so a no-no on two levels) and I went and checked and told her no. After asking, the chef comes out and says there is chicken stock. I told the cashier they should really have that on their little sign as well. How frustrating! But, I went with a respiratory therapist yesterday and it was fun and then a class. Overall, a pretty good day. I was a bit upset about not getting on the elliptical or treadmill, but I knew I was just too tired in the morning. Today I am happy to report that I did get on both today! Yippy skippy!

Good going--maybe the day off from exercise was a good thing! Sorry to hear about the chicken stock--maybe they'll get their act together if they hear from more diners like you!

RYC: I'm always open to opinion and thoughts on my entries:-) I usually find that I learn something new nearly every day. If you didn't comment, I might miss something.

I hope I didn't give the impression from things that I'm fasting or restricting my food for this three week period. I'm eating plenty of food--just no meat, cheese or eggs, etc. And no added fat or oil.

I don't know why, but I didn't really have any withdrawal symptoms from the 1-2 cups of coffee I was drinking when I would try to quit it. In the last couple of years I tried quitting it untold number of times and headache wasn't a problem during those tries since menopause--go figure. It's either that or the relatively small amount of caffeine I was consuming--though there was enough to get a definite caffeine buzz. I wish I knew. I did keep having the compulsion to drink it, which is why it was hard to quit. And I love it and I've always identified as a coffee drinker.

Just a short entry today. I am taking a day off of the exercise. I barely got through yesterday's and today I didn't have energy. I am going to work on the calorie counting today and get up tomorrow and get back on the elliptical/treadmill. I was pretty worn out last night when I got home. Anyway, I will hopefully get back to the exercise tomorrow.

RYC: I appreciate your input and concern:-) It's only one thing I'm paying attention to and I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. As for my way of staving off hypoglycemia--I must eat. I must pay close attention to my hunger cues. Bananas are great!

I am up again today (on the scale that is)!!!! I am still not putting it in though out of just being upset about it. I caved on the calorie counting yesterday after going to lunch with my husband and finding out how many calories were in the cheese quesadillas that I had. This is insane and I really want to get it under control. I am going to do my calorie count again today (or attempt it) and try try try again. On the positive side, I did another day of both elliptical and treadmill again today. That elliptical is hard for me to get through though. I stopped to catch my breath a couple of times but I did the whole 30 minutes.  I thought about stopping but then thought about how upset I would be if I did the rest of the day. The increase to 30 minutes seems to be a mental block for me because before it didn't seem near as long. Maybe it is adding the treadmill as well that makes it seem so long but I am holding fast to the equal time on treadmill and no treadmill if I don't do the elliptical first as encouragement since I like the treadmill so much.

Okay, So I got on the scale again today and was heavier than I was YESTERDAY! I was really upset about this so I took the time to add up the calories that I consumed yesterday and found out I was eating double what I thought!!!! Well actually 1000 more than I thought.

It seems like so much trouble at the time to add calories when I am working but apparently, I am going to have to do this from now on. It is much easier these days with android and Iphone apps but I have been really lax about doing so.

I got up and got on both the elliptical and the treadmill this morning. I do the elliptical first since I like the treadmill so much more. I consider it encouragement to finish and get to the treadmill.

Good for you giving up caffeine! Also taking the time to check your calories--I was never good at estimating.

RYC: For me, it's been a long process (abt 2 years). I love coffee more than I can say. It doesn't love me anymore since menopause though:-) I've got more boring entries about my fits and starts on this than I can count.

I never did do the 30 on the treadmill yesterday but today I did 30 minutes on the elliptical  another 30 on the treadmill. Odd because I was sure I wouldn't be able to get to it but I managed. Just goes to show not to make plans, right? I am working today but off tomorrow and then on the rest of the week. It should be interesting. I am still working on getting things to a "well-oiled machine" type feeling but hopefully, by next month. :-)

Not a lot to put in today. I got on the scale again today and am going to just start weighing daily until I see the scale moving in the correct direction. That is a clue as to which direction it went in. It is a bit frustrating but perseverence is the key, I know. I was kind of hoping yesterday was just a water weight day.

Lately, I feel myself slipping. I had to change my weight in the wrong direction and it seems as though I just can't manage to get things accomplished. The last few days I battled a head ache which culminated yesterday and the night before in some of the worst pain ever. I just couldn't get into a comfortable position and the headache wouldn't go away. I should mention that I gave up caffeine last week. I had been off for a few years but got back on last year after moving back to the mainland. I am going to assume that the headache was due to that which didn't mix well with the TOM. I hope I am not foolish to get back on caffeine again. That was the worst!

I did 30 minutes on the elliptical so far and am planning another 30 on the treadmill but don't see the keys where they should be. I thought I would let person who did laundry last sleep a bit before waking them to ask about where the keys are. Also, I think I am procrastinating. 

I am thinking that I am going to have to just stick to the elliptical on the days I work for now. I am also clearing a few other things off my list that aren't getting done. I dislike going backwards but I think part of the problem is putting too many things on my plate. Maybe after I get orientation (if I ever do) I will add things back on but right now it is just too overwhelming. I listened to a book the other day about organization and that was one of the suggestions. I will see how that goes.
