Weight: 303.7

DH made an incredible cauliflower lasagna for dinner (lasagna with caulifower instead of pasta) it was pretty darn good.

I have been drinking more water this week. I have also been putting fruit in my water which has helped immensely.

Today though, I put lemon, lime and cucumber - will probably leave the cucumber out next time, totally overpowered my citrus.

DH has been rather surly of late. He is anxious about starting his new job - he is out of his comfort zone, but that happens with a new job I suppose. I think tonight may be his last night, he said Thursday, but I think he changed it. Nice four day break to get back on the day shift.

D: caulifower lasagna, dinner roll - 559 calories - ended the night with 1371 calories - i'm very ok with this.

Slept ok, still not getting around as quick as I want, that will surely change next week though, when DH has to be up at 4:30 to get to work by 6:00. If i get up with him, I can exercise - what a concept!!

B: toast, peanut butter, banana - 304

(iced latte - milk & mix - 223)

L: left over cauliflower lasagna & salad - 403

D: chicken, vegetable, ravioli soup (zuccini, squash, onion, spinach)

We have the girl tonight. DH is kinda upset with her about things, so this could be interesting tonight. I don't know why, but DH picked up her ipad and was looking through her messages. Apparently she has been telling her mother that she is not happy at our house. That we stress her out making her read and do her homework and her dad is a butt hole towards her.

And then the YA told his dad that he didn't come over anymore because we stressed his sister out about not getting the book read.

So DH is like, oh if making your sister read her book for a book report and making her do her homework makes me the bad guy...well then I'm your man!! Oh and what high school did you graduate from? Right then, that's what I though!!

Anyway, the YA don't come over anymore because he owes me $200 (he didn't finish paying for a car he bought and then he traded the car off for a hunk of junk truck) - or because we stress his sister out. I'm thinking maybe if his mother stressed him out when he was in school, he might have tried a little harder to make something out of life, instead of standing in line at the food bank with the rest of the losers over there.

anyway, I just can't wait to see how tonight goes - /sarcasm font/

I'd rather be anywhere but home.

Have a great night! IP

Who knew that there were so many ways to use cauliflower......bet the cauliflower industry is thrilled.

horn_of_plenty on 01/18/2018:
Good luck to dh on his new job :)

And your cauliflower Dinner sounds amazing

horn_of_plenty on 01/18/2018:
Yes no reason not to stress girl out to read maybe show her what happened with her brother how he doesn't have job options and explain to her it will Be better fOr her if she does her work and her name is not "jackie!!!"

innerpeace on 01/18/2018:
I wasn't stressing her out! If asking a thirteen year old if she is reading a book that has to be finished by a certain time to turn in a book report is stressful, what is the world coming too?

If she is so undisciplined that she will NOT do it on her own at her mother's house, nor will the mother push her to read, how is she supposed to get anything accomplished? Is she not responsible for anything? Is it not her assignment to turn in and be graded on? Does she prefer to fail? I am sorry too, if I stress the poor darling out to read a freaking book!!

I told DH I wasn't helping her this quarter. Either the mother or the girl will have to come up with some motivation and/or initiative to read the next book. If I stress her out so much and I will see exactly how well this tactic works!! OMG I am just so incredibly frustrated with this entire situation. I hate it!!

horn_of_plenty on 01/18/2018:
you cant take the situation seriously...you did all you could, for the time being.

maybe have girl speak to her counselor about this stuff...and the counselor can explain that you do your best to get her to do the assignments.

Hello,

was out for the weekend, I just cannot bring myself to boot up the computer and post. I'm on the computer 6 of the 8 hours I'm at work and try to leave it alone during the weekend.

Friday I get home and we have roasted vegetables and polenta. It is all good - ended the day with 1427 calories.

Saturday I was doing good. DH and I went to weigh in for our biggest loser competition and afterwards thought it would be a great idea to go eat breakfast. It wasn't.

B: eggs, bacon, french toast

D: gyro

And then just when I think we are in for the night, DH wants to go to Trader Joe's (I had never been and it is like 2 cities over). I wasn't impressed, not my style of shopping. And then sence I have an unused gift card from The Cheesecake Factory, we decided to get dessert. White Chocolate Raspberry type put me way over with 930 calories - ended the day with 2225....not one of my best days.

Sunday - DH and I go shopping

B: English muffin

L: Pizza

D: slow cooker pot roast

ended the day with 1557 -

Monday - DH and I got to look at the anytime fitness facility that is right across the highway - 5 minutes away depending on the stop light. I can use the Fitness my way program through our insurance, which will let us use any facility that is part of the program. It includes quite a few within a fifteen mile radius. Just have to pick one now.

B: English muffin

L: 1/2 left over gyro

D: loaded sweet potatos w/corn, black beans, onons, tomotos, avocado, cilantro, a little cheese - this was quite delicious. and

cabbage steaks

Ended the day with1439 calories

Will see about making a fitness location decision...but will we go?

Have a great day IP

BearCountryGG on 01/16/2018:
I love Trader Joes...but they are now 5 hours away.....so no more for me.

graindart on 01/16/2018:
I've never been to a Trader Joes. Went to a Whole Foods for the first time over the Christmas vacation. We don't have either of them within 200+ miles of where I live. Whole Foods wasn't overly impressive, although everything was bright and shiny. It did have a 3 year aged Gouda cheese that I was looking for. After trying it, definitely not a fan (love 12-18 month aged Gouda). Just did a giant tray of roasted vegetables myself last night. Overate and was stuffed, but still well within my allotted calories.

Donkey on 01/16/2018:
I went to a Trader Joes years ago and it was not in my comfort zone. However, I live by a different TJ's now, and I've matured, so maybe I should give it another chance.

You're right about the gym. The trick is actually GETTING to the gym. That's why it really helps if it's nearby. BTDT.

Maria7 on 01/16/2018:
I love your food photos. I have never thought about cabbage steaks but it looks easy to do...just spray some oil and roast the cabbage? Looks very good and low cal and I also love the sweet pototoes with the toppings photo, too.

innerpeace on 01/17/2018:
Thanks! I have learned to like cabbage.

horn_of_plenty on 01/17/2018:
Food looks amazing - cabbage steaks are cool I always wonder if they get nice and well cooked like that or not compared to when they are shredded. Veggie dish looks good too...latekynyou eat well but then sabotage yourself by. Having a really big greatness or meal a few days later - maybe try for a small treat everyday if you can can do that like 1-2 PCS chocolate or whatever you like and have with herbal tea or seltzer or something low calorie....instead of eating an entire meal - like if you go out try to eat more veggies still in your meal.....to try not to wreck the good job you are doing ! Cabbage steaks are simply amazing looking

So DH text me that we were going out to celebrate...his new job. Well and because he didn't want to cook. I got home and we left to go to, he originally said Olive Garden, but I'm like NO WAY! So we wound up at Applesbee's. I had a shrimp thai salad, which was ok. Afterwards we went through the drive through at Dairy Queen! Yep used up a bunch of calories. Ended the night with 1789 calories. I'm really ok with this, but this doesn't help with my weight loss.

I overslept this morning and I have sleep scheduled all over my weekend plans. I just kept hitting the snooze button and would not get up. I did make it to work on time, but still feel very rushed.

B: toast, banana, peanut butter

S: yogurt, blackerries

L: salad: mixed greens, apple, pomegranate, walnuts, baked chicken and a little bit of goat cheese

S: balanced breaks

D: some kind of chicken and roasted vegetables

People freaking out about weather rolling in, however, it is not as bad as it was first forecast to be, which may be a good things, I can never tell. I always think it's a bad thing because everyone all ready closed everything and now there is no need to have.

I do want to see the movie Downsizing, may do that this weekend.

DH, the girl and I went to see Jumanji over Christmas and it was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. There were moments in the show where I was laughing so hard, I couldn't catch my breath. It was just so funny.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend! IP

I used to love the Applebees Asian salad...it was delish and I swore I would try something different every time we went...but then..I would order it again...now we don't have an applebees around so don't need to think about that anymore....we don't even have a dairy queen...LOL

horn_of_plenty on 01/13/2018:
I wrote a few comments below and will read this entry here after dinner as my father called me down! I'm lucky :-)

horn_of_plenty on 01/14/2018:
Sounds like a nice treat at Dairy Queen ! Maybe next time share it with DH! Take a few spoonfuls of his and get a warm tea there!

That's what I do to keep my mouth busy - a little of the rich stuff and then low cal stuff directly following :) it's my trick

Or so you mean take a road trip starting from home ?

Also is it me or are your foods simply the best they've been since you started here ?!

Nice job with the salmon and also the quinoa mix and everything !

Also you are such a dedicated planner to be thinking of how summer with Girlie will plan out - now it will work out well since you are putting in the effort now !

Having issues with the girl, so I doubt I will do anything at all with her in mind.

I hear snow is coming, like 17 inches, I kinda hope it happens.

got home from work and helped DH with dinner. We kinda mixed together what we were supposed to have with a Tasty video. It turned out really very good. Ended the night with 1343 calories, I am very ok with this.

Yeah well, today it has been decreased to 6 inches of snow with possible freezing rain and ice. I think they do a lot of CYA (cover your @ss). the winds changed, it didn't get as cold as expected or something. It will be an interesting weekend.

I think I have the best DH in the world. I told him I ran out of window washer fluid coming to work today and he came by my work and brought me a DDP and window fluid and filled up the resovoir. He can be so thoughtful sometimes.

Today's word is sleepy. I am having difficulty staying awake and, it's not even 2:00 pm yet. Makes for a seriously long day.

Dinner last night was a baked chicken breast with guacamole and brocolli, it was pretty good  I had to cut the stalks of the brocolli but DH did well.

D: chicken, brocolli, guacamole - 462 calories

S: balanced break - because I was starving.

Ended the day with 1354 calories

DH and I walked the dog. It was an adventure putting booties on my dog. His little feet get so cold he only makes it a few houses down the block. With the booties on, he make it all the way around.

Ending the day with 1354 calories.

Tuesday:

B: oatmeal, walnuts, a little mape syrup - 228 calories

L: pita pocket, apples, spring mix, tomatos --458 calories

S: orange - 62 calories

D: TBD - supposed to be somthing with sweet potato and black bean. This may be changed a little.

DH starts his new job the 22nd, so excited for him.

your food looks fabulous! so proud of your hubby doing better with the daytime position. so it worked out after all!

Thanks! And it is. His stupid employer put him on 3rd shift after he was gone for seven weeks after knee replacement surgery. It was like a punishment or something. And when he requested vacation, they told him he couldn't go because he had already been gone for seven weeks. Yeah, like vacation and surgery are the same thing!

Life will surely be more enjoyable...as well as sleep.

Doing everything right and eating right and gain weight! THIS, this right here is why people fail, why people give UP!! Why when you work so hard and plan and cook and the scale still doesn't show all of your hard work. This is so discouraging.

So weighing this morning already p!ssed me off. I couldn't find my yoga pants that I usually wear to work. You know the soft, black ones that almost look dressy. They are stretchy and thin and very comfortable. Yeah, those...they just got up and left my closet and are hiding, no where to be found. I wanted to wear them to weigh in at the VA clinic, but not today, I guess.

Leaving early because of snow and ice and traffic, I spilled my iced latte in the garage all over crap. I will maybe clean it up when I get back home, it will be frozen by then.

So I will go to the Move meeting and weight in, and trust me, I will be heavier with all the clothes on and this will make me feel even worse about the whole thing. Weighing in everyday is truely detrimental to my state of mind and yes, I know...it is just a number and it does not define me. I feel better and maybe my clothes fit better and all that, but still I would like something concrete to see and look at as a reminder that what I'm doing is at least making some kind of dent in the whole of things.

I will find those pants though!

Have a good day! IP

Went to the MOVE meeting. A bunch of old guys trying to one up each other and a little old lady who was rail thin and could have been knocked over by a stiff breeze. I sat through the meeting. Maybe I have a different relationship with food and need a different kind of meeting - may over eater's anonymous and abstinence.  I'll give it another week.

B: yogurt, blackberries, walnuts, vanilla iced latte (213+223  = 436 calories)

L: toast, white beans, avacado, spring mix - 307

S: Apple - 95

D: some kind of chicken DH is mixing up

Hello people of DD!

Today was a lazy-do-laundry day. I didn't do much else. DH and the girl went shopping and I cleaned out the refrigerator and swept and mopped the dining room.

DH got a new job and will be starting in two weeks, well, if his current job lets him stay that is. They are known to escort people off the property after they give their two weeks notice. We will see.

Got home last night and helped DH with dinner. It was roasted vegetables with polenta. We didn't have polenta so I used corn meal. I really didn't know corn meal cooked that way, but it turned out delicious. All the while chopping up the vegetables, i kept thinking how HOP would be proud.

sweet potatoes, beets, onion, carrots, brussel sprouts

With the corn meal and goat cheese

Ended the night with 1272 calories. Very happy these last five days have been tolerable. Starting to think, I just might be able to do it longer. One day at a time.

Saturday morning:

B: oatmeal, blueberries

I spent all day and evening helping the girl get her book report finished. She finished the book at 11:00 this morning. It is now after 8:00 and the report is done. OMG so, so tired right now.

L: quinoa, left over roasted vegetables, kale

D: vegetable soup with zucchini, carrots, cannelini beans, tomatos, kale and chicken - very tasky on this freezing @ss cold day.

Finished the day with 1123 calories.

I did put booties and a jacket on my dog and took him for a walk. We both got cold. Tomorrow it is supposed to warm up for a few days.

innerpeace - Friday Jan 05, 2018

Weight: 303.7

Didn't really get much work accomplished - just that time of month I suppose.

On the way home it was 10 degrees and a man was standing on the side of hte road asking for money. My thought at the time is, it's 10 degrees, this man must really need money or else he'd be home or somewhere else trying to get warm. He had camouflage on and I handed him a $20 bill. I don't know what he will do with it, but I just know he was cold and maybe, just maybe, he bought a hot meal with it. I didn't need the $20 just then. So, I felt better about myself.

I told DH when I got home, and then gave him the other $20 I had, in case the man was standing there today when I drive home, or else my heartstrings would have probably handed that over as well. But dang 10 degrees, I would be sitting at McDonald's or something.

DH and I made dinner, the dressing was kind of messed up and looks nasty but it tastes rather good. It was a salad with grilled chicken. 473 calories.

Ended the day with 1292 calories. Happy with this. I still do NOT like yellow or red bell peppers. I am still tasting them from 10:00 am this morning. GROSS!

I really like goat cheese.

So I picked up a pen pal, funny thing is, she lives less than 200 miles away, but I like writing letters. I also sent a letter to the last known address of my father before he died. I wanted the names of some half brothers and sisters I have running around, that I have never met. Maybe, someone will know something at that address. If not, I will never know.

Tonight we have the girl. She hasn't had school for the last two days, making plenty of time to read. But last night she still had 97 pages to go, so I doubt she will be finished. Oh well, I will deal with this at that time.

FRIDAY AM:

B: yogurt, blueberries, walnuts - 164 calories

S: boiled egg - 78 calories

L: tossed salad with mixed greens, carrots, cucumber, tomato and vinegrette, hummus and pita points

D: polenta with goat cheese and roasted root vegetables (kinda excited about this)

Have a great day! Stay warm. IP

horn_of_plenty on 01/05/2018:
Hello InnerPeace! Happy Friday!

Regarding your roasted root veggies, I roasted a Daikon yesterday which is a radish. It’s white and looks like a white carrot like a parsnip. However, it tasted HORRIBLE roasted! It’s too bland. So, if you find any daikons, do NOT roast them by themselves. Now I understand why the Asians folks always serve it in a sauce or soup! It’s just horrible roasted. To bland and flavorless and even adding salt and pepper doesn’t help weirdly enough. Most veggies, especially root ones, taste GREAT roasted I was so surprised there’s a root veggie out there that just tastes terrible when roasted. I’ll still eat it rather than waste it…but I def learned a lesson regarding the daikon!

Lots a lot of $$$ you gave that man – don’t make too much a habit of that or you’ll be down LOTS of cash! I used to give beggers but now less so – because there are too many beggers around here. It’s constant that they are asking for cash and it adds up…once in awhile I will, but usually not. When I do, I feel better about myself too….but you just never know about them. It’s sad either way – so many homeless in our country.

A lot of the homeless hate shelters, etc., and I think they’d rather freeze. I think they feel safer outside…from danger and other people, that is.

I hear goat cheese is pretty low fat and a good alternative to other cheeses right? Feta I know is pretty healthy. … GREAT job on the salad, looks like a balsamic vinaigrette type dressing? Looks amazing! Balsamic type dressings are my preference over creamy / cheesy ones!

Girlie needs to finish her book in segments, not all at once. Help her with this as I mentioned to you previously! Let her read 15 pages, take 20 minute break….etc. until she is done!

Your dinner looks really good....I've never had goat cheese but I have had goat milk...and it was stinky and disgusting.....is the cheese stinky?

Innerpeace on 01/06/2018:
I didn't think so. It was actually pretty good. Very tangy, but I liked that.

happy-1 on 01/05/2018:
Goat cheese is amazing, especially with beets and blackberries.

How did you acquire a pen pal?

Innerpeace on 01/06/2018:
I do Postcrossing - it is cool. Check it out..postcrossing.com that is just a postcard exchange, which is really cool. I just been in over a couple of months and have received 18 post cards from around the world.

Anyway, this lady just like a postcard and asked to be pen pals, she is a retired school teacher and lives in Columbus, not too far away, but it's neat, for me at least.

Donkey on 01/06/2018:
Bless you for your charitable heart! I get where Horn is coming from, but that was a very nice thing you did. You may have made a huge difference. IDK, I'd rather err on the side of generosity.
