Weight: 319.0

Yesterday I went to work...for the entire day. The best part of the day was reconciling the credit cards and watching my boss pack up the store room. Watching him walk back and forth was satisfying. Alas, I asked if I could go in a few hours over the weekend to get my stuff packed up. He told me to do whatever I needed to do. So one day (maybe tomorrow) I will spend a few hours packing up my stuff.

Today is early release and I can't NOT leave early...who does that? I mean who stays at work when they say you can leave? I know mission essentional workers or critical workers can't be I'm not essential.

I was also told I need to go to the new office today...I asked why and was told I need to go to familiarize myself with my area and see just where I will want to put things and how much space i actually have. So OK I will go ...whenever he texts me.

DH and I had leftover bean and cheese tacos which turned out better than expected. Then we went on a hard walk - which was up hill on the way back. I remembered it being tougher than what it was, so maybe walking is good for us.

Blood Sugar this morning was 183...weight was down a bit.

We have the girl this weekend. no plans I would like to get some house work done, yard work done and just continuie enjoying life.

Have a great weekend!

Progress as of today: 18.9 lbs lost so far, only 109 lbs to go!

Horn_of_plenty on 09/04/2020:
that's great you can go in ALONE and pack up your stuff without hassle, maybe bring home a few things if you want certain things at your house instead of work, while you are at it! (this is what i did, when i LEFT my job!)

i have also had the times when i worked after the early release - how annoying is that!?

been and cheese tacos sound like another tasty and wonderful meal!

Donkey on 09/05/2020:
Good job on getting that blood sugar number down!!!

I hope you have a good weekend!

blood sugar this a.m. 200 so things are improving...

Dinner was the cranberry beans (pinto beans), salad and bacon. The Brussel sprouts I had planned didn't look very good and when I took all the bad leaves off and sliced them, there was a weird mushy brown center so I just tossed those.

DH, the dogs and I went on a walk in the PM we accumulated 7900 steps.  This is great for me, as I did noting during the last 5 months of COVID. And I feel really bad and regretful about that...so now is the time of change...and I'm kinda worried about the blood sugar. DH was telling me...I know you are strong, but sometimes you just need to ask for help. I agree with this...but I don't feel bad I have no symptoms so if he didn't check my blood sugar, how is one supposed to know?

It is raining this morning, so I will have to find something else to get some movement in.

B: pumpkin spiced cheerios (DH found these...don't waste your time) it is more of an aroma experience than taste, plum

L: bagged salad with grilled chicken

D: steak, cauliflower casserole

We get the girl today. Not sure how I feel about this today.

Have a great day!

Progress as of today: 15.8 lbs lost so far, only 112.1 lbs to go!

Horn_of_plenty on 09/02/2020:
i hate it when my veggies don't last...happens to all of us, i think!

your bean dinners and meals sound so healthy!

you can only change the future, so i wouldn't be angry at yourself for not doing a lot of walking previously. but you can change that now. and of course it was easier to get the walking in since you haven't been working :) it's nice you were able to!! try to keep on, even if shorter walks!

cauliflower casserole sounds just amazing. maybe take a photo if you make it again!

have fun with girlie! haha ;)

Jacky82020 on 09/02/2020:
I’ve always liked beans and make chili every other week or so. But lately have been lazy and using canned ones.

Great you’re getting the long walks in!m

legcramps on 09/02/2020:
Today is always a new day :) and a fresh start!

Donkey on 09/02/2020:
Sounds like you made the right call with the brussel sprouts. Probably a good thing you didn't take a chance.

Way to go in the steps! And the lower blood sugar levels!!!

innerpeace - Tuesday Sep 01, 2020

Weight: 322.1

blood sugar at 237 this a.m. We have been walking for a week, so I am just wondering how high this was two weeksa ago.

I will give it until the end of the week and if it isn't lower I will have to call the doctor next Tuesday and get some blood work done..

B: one piece of toast with PB & banana, a cantaloupe wedge

L: grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumber salad

D: beans and Brussel sprouts

DH and I went on our morning walk about 45 minutes. Trying to walk and work is in itself an adventure...but I answer the phone and do what needs to be done.

We will go again tonight after dinner between 6:15-6:30. Parks close at 8:00 so we will have to be finished before then...and today is the first day that the sun will set before 8:00pm...fall is surely around the corner. My work also said that next week we may be 20 degrees below normal so it will also be hoodie weather.

The girl called and was upset because she was getting her hair trimmed (an inch) and somehow it turned into 12.  Well that was her decision to have the YA's girlfriend who didn't fininsh cosmetology school cut her hair. I will hear about this for the next week I'm sure.

Have a good evening.

Here are the loves of my life who was very interested in posing for this picture for y'all!

next, your dinner of beans and brussels sounds quite nice!

bearcountrygg on 09/01/2020:
I'm glad to hear that you are planning to call the doctor...you don't want to mess with that number. I hear keto helps lower blood sugar levels....(I can't get D to do keto though).....he is on metformin.

Maria7 on 09/01/2020:
What beautiful babies!!! Gorgeous! That is good that you and your Hubby are getting in some good walks. 45 minutes is a LONG walk.

innerpeace - Monday Aug 31, 2020

Good news...DH and I walked all weekend, Saturday we even logged almost 12,000 steps.

Bad news...my blood sugar was 248 on Sunday and 224  this morning. DH said hey let me check yours, especially before you go to the doctor. So he did and OMG...it is so high. But I don't have a doctor's appoiontment yet. She told me to call after the new FY...which is October, so I have a month or so to get it down.  Seriously I do not want to take all the medications DH does.

We went meatless last year about this time, I guess it is time to go again...let's just say it may not be overnight, but things will definately change.

Sunday, we went to a park and walked. This park had two long wood bridges...my poor dog is like no way, I'm not walking on this. I had to carry him. Poor thing. We walked almost 9,000 this day. I think Saturday was so much more because we went to Walmart.

Monday I went into the office for half a day...better than expected, but boy what a mess on my desk. I was able to straighten some of it, I told my boss I will need one full day in the office this week...so Thursday I will go in.

B: boiled egg, banana, slice of cantaloupe

L: boneless chicken thigh, apple

D: chicken, spinach and tomator and cucumber salad.

Have a great day.

Progress as of today: 15.8 lbs lost so far, only 112.1 lbs to go!

What kind of dog do you have? I have 3: a pug/Frenchie mix, (33 pds), a Frenchie (27 pds) and a giant lt mutt, 130 pds or so.

Jacky82020 on 08/31/2020:
Shouldn’t have had “it” in there before word mutt. So many typos!

bearcountrygg on 08/31/2020:
That blood sugar level is scary........meat doesn't have carbs as long as it's pure meat/poultry/fish.......D eats a lot of that. Fruit isn't something to eat much of right now either...I'm sure you already know that if your Hubby is diabetic......it is a hard medical problem...D battles his daily...but not something to mess around with.......hopefully that number comes down.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/31/2020:
with the medications...maybe start with them (if you need them) and try to come OFF them by making a few changes? just be safe than sorry, you know? but i understand not wanting to get all that medication and be responsible also for the copays and just putting so much in your system.

so happy you are both doing so much better, thank gosh!!! really wonderful to hear!

Donkey on 09/01/2020:
Very good on the walking!!! Bravo!!!

Wouldn't a high blood sugar count mean too many carbs? Well if meatless worked for you, then go for it.

Donkey on 09/01/2020:
I enjoyed reading your meatless menus!

I received clearance to go back to work on Monday - I have tons of stuff to do there...especially for the move. I guess it is finally happening.

DH's work told him he would need to test negative before he goes back. The Cleveland Clinic says they will not test unless you are symtamatic, it is proving difficult to get a second test...it's amazing how our Governor received three tests in a 24 hour period and our professional baseball team is tested every other day it seems. So I guess regular working people cannot get a test without a fight...just to go back to work. The Woes of the regular working class....or money talks or whatever it is they have that we don't.

Yesterday we went on two long walks and it was refreshining.

I had to go pick up my work release letter so we stopped at Arby's for dinner.

No walk this morning because of a passing storm, but we will fit it in shortly.

Plan to do a few things around the house this weekend - declutter, I want to clean out my car and get the counter tops santized and a few other rooms in the house...and walking.

I hope you all have a great weekend! IP

Progress as of today: 14.4 lbs lost so far, only 113.5 lbs to go!

Horn_of_plenty on 08/28/2020:
that is quite a nuisance that D can't get the second test easily...so dumb!...yes, the woes of a beuracratic system.

I like Arby's too!

have a nice weekend.

i've decluttered my place so much that i don't fully recognize it! really!

Jacky82020 on 08/28/2020:
God, I need to get busy on some decluttering here.

We were going to go to Arby’s and use the two gyros for $6, but I misplaced the coupon. Love the turkey ones, significantly fewer calories than the lamb, but actual prefer the lamb.

Here they only test symptomatic ppl too, takes a PCP or other physician’s order. It true, the rich and famous can get tested every five minute,

Maria7 on 08/28/2020:
So many people are unwilling to work during this pandemic time and here you and your Hubby are, having a difficult time getting tested to show negative so you CAN WORK.

Donkey on 08/29/2020:
It just burns my blood when I hear certain people say that anyone can get tested. NOT.

Can he get a test through CVS or Walgreens? This is ridiculous.

This is my third attempt at posting. Me and this laptop are not getting along today. I am typing along and something jumps and or skips and everything I have just typed automatically disappears...or my cursor is in a totally different place and I'm typing in the middle of a word or sentence. It is crazy!

So the girl goes home tonight, she is out of quarantine and her mommo wants her back. She will be back next Wesnesday.

Last night we ordered out from Applebees, I don't know why...it was just ok, I had some grilled shrimp and pasta. I liked the shrimp.

We went on two long walks yesterday (long to us) but we added almost 7500 steps.

DH's friend gave us some tomatoes and peppers yesterday - they look super

I will probably freeze the bell peppers but i have no clue wHAT TO DO WITH (sorry AGAIN LAPTOP ISSUES - how to get the all caps turned off) IT IS ON FOR NO REASON...AND THE CAP LOCKS KEY IS NOT EVEN ON SO frustrating!) the banana peppers, tomatoes and jalapenos (which I don't even eat).

Some kind of pork roast today, along with my cucumber, tomoato, alvocado salad with honey lime dressing.

Stil waiting to hear form DR for work release...I am nervous to go back to work, I just have a feeling no one will come near me, which is a good thing, but I still don't want to be treated like a leper. And just was told I could get reinvected, which I hate to hear.

Anyway, still plugging along, and teleworking.

Have a great evening! IP

You tested positive? That’s scary. Did you have symptoms? Please forgive or ignore me if you already posted about it and prefer not to revisit the topic.

The veggies look terrific! I am trying to grow chili peppers on the deck without much luck. Sure it’s a lack of sun. At least no one is eating them. Some animal, most likely a squirrel, devoured my wonderful Christmas cactus.

innerpeace on 08/27/2020:
Yes tested positive on 8/10/20 - however I was sick for a week before getting tested.

My husband returned to work on 7/19/2020 and was sick the whole week. He thought it was heat exhaustion because he works in a factory and it was over 90 degrees and he didn't do anything for three months while be laid off. He didn't think about it being COVID-19 until he was having shortness of breath and couldn't breathe well. He then called the doctor and they sent him for testing.

I started with a sore throat and earache on/about 8/6/2020 and then the horrible persistent coughing. I lost my sense of taste and smell and the fatigue was th worst. Now days are pretty good. I will have a bout of coughing and I still don't smell or taste all I could, but am feeling much better.

Horn_of_plenty on 08/26/2020:
those veggies look AMAZING! what a nice friend!

with the hot peppers...hmmm...maybe add a very little bit to cream cheese?

maybe you cannot eat all the hot peppers!

don't worry about the work stuff....if they wanna be scared of you...well, it will end when they decide they need you for your work more! hahaha. you can do it! i'm so proud of you to hear you are on the mend.

Friday DH and I went for a longer walk. I am so proud of him for pushing himself further. He has done so good, the last two weeks were kinda hard, but out walking and moving around has helped considerably. I told him he can't get better sitting in the recliner for 12 hours a day. He finally listened.

We had pot roast, mashed potatoes and green beans. It was pretty good, cooked in the crock pot.

Saturday - again we walked further, doing good but still not 100%.

I used the left over roast beef and made sandwiches with the mashed potatoes on gardlic bread. It was pretty creative and tasty.

Sunday - slept a little later and woke up with an earache! Didn't go on our morning walk.

I started laundry and put on the crock pot with chicken chili. I did decided to do some work I didn't get to on Friday...didn't want to do it today either, but the cutoff date for purchases has come and gone and I still had money that needed to be spent. My boss hates giving back money. I spend down to cents...I think I spent one account down to .89 cents.

We did go on the evening walk with the dogs...it was a bit warmer than usual.

Tomorrow I call to see when I can be released to go back to work...my boss wants something in writing.

Monday...I'm coming for YOU!! better watch out.

Have a great day! IP

innerpeace - Friday Aug 21, 2020

Yesterday I made I don't know for dinner. What is this you ask. Well I had left over grilled chicken. I boiled some rotini, chopped up a cucumber, avocado, red onion and cherry tomatoes, mixed this with the delicious Olive Garden dressing and had this for dinner...grilled chicken pasta salad. It was delicious to me. No one complained...the girl just picked out the tomatoes but ate everything else.

So I worked in the morning and was unable to get away to take a walk...DH didn't go either. It was really kind of a test, but if he's not willing to take care of himself....

After dinner we did go because he needs to.

Working this morning again, but we did go on our morning walk. DH made it all the way without huffing and puffing. He gets winded doing the easiest task, but it is getting better.

He has his next doctor's appointment on 9/4/2020 will probably be released to go back to work.

I will call on Monday and see if I can get released as well, I was hoping by 8/31/2020.

The office move is finally happening and things are rolling...I need to do things, but can't without being in the office.

We are doing better than expected.

Dinner tonight, pot roast, potatoes and carrots.

Have a great weekend! Stay diligent and be safe!

innerpeace - Thursday Aug 20, 2020

Weight: 324.7

Mom was tested negative for COVID and flew home on Monday. I was very sad when she left because I'm morbid, I kept thinking this would be the last time I see her. I made her use assistance though. I signed her up for a wheel chair when I booked her flight. It said can walk but needs assistance to the gate. She didn't want to at first, but I told her to accept help. She thanked me afterwards, because she said...yes it was a long walk, I might of never made it! Anyway, she got home to a flooded garage and garden full of weeds. I will miss her. DH said we might be able to go see her again next March.

DH is still having a hard time breathing. We are walking twice a day. The dogs appreciate it...DH not so much. Lasting affects of COVID-19 his shortness of breath and taste/smell has not returned.

My coughing is better and I tell DH I can only taste about 11 of the 23 flavors in Diet Dr. Pepper. Hopefully my taste/smell will return soon.

The girl, we only see at dinner time. She spends all her time in her room watching Netflix and playing guitar or keyboard. Her mother hasn't even acted dumb because of this. She can officially go back home on 8/24/20 if she wants to go - she still says she wants to live here, but isn't being pressed at this time.

I may be able to go to work next week or I will just say 8/31/20. They are packing up the office and breaking down furniture. We are officially supposed to move on 9/14/20 and I have a lot to do and I am no way ready to go...it doesn't help that I can't get into the office...which is probably for the better right now.

I used instacart. Happy to say, I may never go grocery shopping again! I love, love, loved it!

I have enjoyed walking and hope we continue this...DH hates it now because he can't breathe, but I'll keep pushing him.

We have been eating pretty good...and Olive Garden salad dressing is amazing!

Have a great day! IP

innerpeace - Thursday Aug 13, 2020

Weight: 328.9

My husband has COVID-19. I tested yesterday and I am waiting on results. I have it as well as - I have all the symptoms and was just trying to deny it all. I think DH has had it all this time when we were thinking it was heat exhaustion...well it never went away. He is so fatigued and was having issues with tightness in his chest, so he finally called the doctor. They tested him and took xrays of his chest and gave him some antibiotics to take.

Me on the other hand - I started out with a sore throat, diarrhea and body aches. I wasn't too concerned until my taste and smell went away...then I knew. I also had an earache for a few days, but I think that was from the sore throat because I haven't heard of an ear ache being a COVID-19 symptom, but who knows anymore.

Mom, luckily has not shown symptoms. She is leaving Monday and rightfully so she can't wait to get out of this place...it is so cold in our house. She is staying in the family room, which is far away from us. The girl is trapped here too for the next two weeks, she is wishy washy about this. Though she likes being here, she is getting in the boredom routine and she is also staying in her room and the family room, away from us. They have no symptoms and the department of health reiterated social distancing - they don't even eat with us anymore. It is a said thing.

The fatigue is the worst. I told my boss and this caused two others to be banished from the office. I cannot step foot in the office until 8/24/20 regardless of test results...as I am exposed to a positive so they will treat me as positive too.

Eating has been ok, I can feel my clothes are more lose, so that is a good thing, for me at least.

Trying to keep a positive attitude, because with a Mopey Joe (DH) he it very hard...men are so dramatic!

So this is just an update, hopefully I'll have more news soon.

I did use Wal-Mart grocery pick up - it was ok...I may try instacart next time.

I hope you all have a great day! IP

==============================================================

My test came back positive. I am madder than a hornet. Livid! i had to tell my boss and he was required to shut down our office. My office that is a 24/7/365 shop. He had to go to emergency back up until our office can be thoroughly cleaned. Ever feel like a leper? This is it! He was lucky enough to find Servpro who could come in and magically clean the office I was in for a total of 4 hours on Monday.

I washed my hands, I cloroxed wiped everything a few times a day. I wore my mask, I took all the precautions staying 6 feet away from people, yet somehow it was not enough. I am mad, sad, irritated and I may never leave my house again.

Be careful people!

Oh and then...not mentioning all the department of health questions.

DH's job asked him if he could get a second test to confirm the positive. His doctor says...uh NO you have too many symptons to even NOT think you don't have it. I hope his work was satisfied, it's not like he's a professional ball player or the govenor of a state to just go and take a test every other day! That is me being sarcastic, in case you don't know me by now!

We'll just have to see what the tide brings tomorrow!

Also for Instacart, compare prices on items across stores... The prices are weird... Like a bottle of Diet Coke for my dad is $3 at one store and $0.99 at another, both different prices from in-store... but the delivery prices are the same. Also the sales and deals on Instacart are different than the ones in the circulars.
