Friday night we had baked sweet potatos for dinner. They were pretty good. I went to bed at 9:00. Ended my calories at 1559. I'm ok with that.

Saturday we were up early and dropped my car off and went to breakfast. Afterwards we went shopping and came back home. I made chicken and dumplings for dinner and had yogurt and berries. Ended the day with 1222 calories

Sunday - laundry day. Sat around the house - just no motivation to do anything. Made a pot of chili and took the dog for a walk, it was a nice day.

B: JD delight

L: left over chicken and dumplings

D: chili

S: DQ Blizzard

was over calories because I couldn't say no to the blizzard - ended the day with 1542 calories.

Monday - DH is home doing what little things he can. He has applied for lots of jobs and hopefully will get a call back soon. He did try to apply for unemployment but was having issues with some paperwork and of course he can't reach anyone over the phone, it is all done through on-line and email. He is frustrated, but I told him, there is no reason to be. Just wait.

B: JD delight

S: yogurt, blackberries

L: tuna, cottage cheese

D: quinoa burger, salad

We may have time to go to the gym tonight, we will see.

Hoping you all have a great evening! IP

Progress as of today: 17.9 lbs lost so far, only 93.7 lbs to go!

I really need to stop reading people's posts today. I keep seeing foods I love but really don't have good self control over portion sizes when eating them. Love sweet potatoes, but I want a large one with lots of butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, and maybe some mini marshmallows. That one sweet potato with the toppings I'd want would probably kill my whole calorie allotment for the day.

bearcountrygg on 01/29/2018:
Is the quinoa burger frozen? Do you make them yourself?

innerpeace on 01/30/2018:
It is frozen. We got it from Aldi.

Donkey on 01/29/2018:
Hope you had a good time at the gym?

happy-1 on 01/30/2018:
Hugs! Keep on keeping on.

horn_of_plenty on 01/30/2018:
baked sweet potatoes...yum...good eats for you all around!

Have fun at the gym if you go!

So it amazes me how my life can change in a few hours. So DH came home yesterday and told me the new job didn't work out and he was told not to come back....SERIOUSLY!! Wow...not what I wanted to hear. He said he did his best. He said they complained his hand writing was terrible and that he was too slow. Well he was just learning the job, so I'm not sure what the problem was. Rediculous! And then in the next sentence he tells me he has another interview Friday morning.

I got home and made the dinner. Here is the potato, ground beef roll, it has tomatos and spinach in it as well, with just a little cheese (parmesean holding the potatoes together and a little mozzerlla between the spinach and ground beef.

Ended the night with 1489 calories.

This morning I get to sleep in until 5:30.

DH was up and made breakfast and he went on to his interview at 9:00

B: toast, peanut butter, banana

S: balanced breaks, peanut butter m&m's (from DH)

L: left over potato roll

S: yogurt, blueberries

D: supposed to be sweet potato and blackbeans, we will see

Time to button down the wallet! DH is on the job hunt again.

No real plans this weekend. I wanted to go to an indoor garage sale and my car has an appointment to have something replaced. that is all.

Have a great weekend! IP

Hope you are having a nice weekend, even with the bad news. I'm sorry. That sucks. (Sorry, no better word for it.)

I like the photos of your food.

horn_of_plenty on 01/29/2018:
Gosh I am so so sorry about DH. But good luck to him on the next interview...I'm sure he is very thankful for you!

DH and I went to our fitness trainer yesterday. I guess he was nice. He got us acclimated to the gym and DH actually said he wants to go. I hope this entusiasm lasts, at least he is losing weight. We have the girl tonight, so we will not being going again until tomorrow.

With DH's new job he is off most Fridays and all weekend, those 10 hours days, I think he likes. He did say he was slow at adjusting to the new procedures and new testing machines, I hope it picks it up quickly or else they will boot him out the door. Only time will tell, he did say he was having a better day, so maybe.

Woke up this morning with a stiff back, maybe because of those machines, using muscles, I forgot I had, Aleve helped.

Work was crazy this week for some reason, oh, the little shutdown has peoplze acting crazy. One system they actually shut down for four hours, hasn't came back up yet, some financial thing.

Dinner last night was left over pizza - finished the day with 1439 calories.

B: toast, boiled egg, banana

S: banana

L: left over pizza - it is all gone now, yogurt, blackberries

S: balanced breaks

D: we are going to try the potato/beef roll up thing again. If it turns out I will take a picture.

Out of my iced coffee, haven't decided to make a strip to Sandusky to get some more. I just may do with out.

No girl this weekend, but car needs to be in the shop on Saturday for some multifunctional converter to be replaced.

Have a great evening! IP

Would love to see a pic of the potato beef roll up......your food always looks so good.

horn_of_plenty on 01/26/2018:
i think 10hr days are definitely better alternative. 3 day weekends provide you with the ability to plan for 3 days of personal time instead of 2.

we waste so much time anyways on workdays that it just seems much more productive to work 4 days than 5, even if a longer day, i think that the time off is beneficial for sure.

it would benefit me, a gym-goer, for sure as i'd workout more on the nights that i can sleep in the next day. also more time to prepare food, do any errands. good.....

i know the 10hr days can be tiring, so i guess make sure he gets sleep before a workday. very good.

i'm glad you enjoyed meeting the gym trainer.

Met DH and the girl at the library. It was a great event and even more so if you like hot chocoloate. We tried Spanish, Itailian, Mexican, French and Vienese hot chocolates. Most of them were very bitter to me and the others were just sickenly sweet. It was a great experience though. I voted for the French. I ate two lady finger cookies with the hot chocolate.

D: was the home made pizza on flat bread, turned out delicious. We even made enough for dinner tonight.

Ended the night with 1415 calories, thanks to the chocolate.

On schedule DH was asleep at 8:15. i was hoping working the dayshift again would get him out of this sleep pattern. I got up the same time he did and I don't fall out like that.

Up this morning at 4:30 got DH out the door.

B: toast, peanut butter, banana

L: left over pizza

S: yougurt, black berries, balanced breaks

D: left over pizza

We have our fitness consulation tonight at 6:30...maybe I will go to the gym when DH leaves....um we will see.

Have a great evening! IP

The hot chocolate tasting sounds like fun and it's really good that you are exposing your daughter to so many different things....you guys really do make good use of your time with her, some day she will look back on those times happily!

Maria7 on 01/24/2018:
Sounds like Y'all had a good time. :-)

Donkey on 01/24/2018:
When my husband worked nights (11p-7a), he would take a nap right after dinner from about 7p-9:30p.

When my husband worked days (7a-3p), he would be in bed between 8:30p-9p, because he had to get up so early.

You might find that your hubby is able to stay up a little later during the workweek, on days, once the stress of learning a new job wears off a bit. I hope so. Anyway, I would get up early with my husband and exercise. Now that he's disabled, I still get up at 5am to workout!

innerpeace on 01/25/2018:
Yes, my husband did that nap thing from about 7:30 to 10:30 to be at work at midnight, but he is back on day shift now. I didn't think he would still fall asleep so early. Maybe he is still adjusting, time will tell.

horn_of_plenty on 01/25/2018:
hopefully just hot chocolate tastings, lol...interesting event at library i think i'd run from it bc i would be faced with too many temptations of food / drink...rather stay home. but sounds tasty, so ignore my negative commentary...

tasty foods...!

DH gets home later than me now. I had the leftovers heated up with a nice tossed salad. Ended the night with 1405 calories.

I sent a few postcards and as usual DH promptly falls asleep at 8:45. He says he is just mentally exhausted from all the learning his new job takes. OK and the exuse for falling asleep so early before was it was so physically taxing. He sleeps more than anyone I've ever known.

I got caught up watching The Good Doctor and stayed up until 11:00.

Was up at 4:30, got DH out the door. watched CSI episode.

B: frittata, toast

S: yogurt, blueberries

L: 1/2 cordon bleu

S: balanced breaks

(I have a huge salad I haven't eaten yet)

D: flat bread pizza

I think we have a library function tonight, but I can't remember if we are going or not. Something about Hot chocolates from around the world.

Well so much for me thinking I had a secure job. Crazy day on Friday with the budget not getting approved. My boss did tell me to come in to work though.

Received a letter I am excepted (Part-time) so now I work part-time until the furlough is over. OMG so stressful, my neck and shoulders are screaming.

I left to go to my VA Move meeting, down 3.2 pounds since the 8th, so not too bad, but I can do better. When I was gone, my boss thought I left for the day, it was quite comical.

Have a fitness evaulation scheduled for the 24th after work, so I guess I will at least go to the gym on Wednesday and I started wearing my fitbit again.

F: DH made a chicken, sun dried tomoto, pasta dish, it was pretty good - ended the day with 1380 calories.

Saturday for the first time in forever...DH was there in the morning. He made breakfast the Jimmy Dean frittatas, which are pretty tasty.

Afterwards we took Steve to his vet appointment, it is so sad for me, so I waited outside in the waiting room.

My heart's right here!!

After the vet DH and the girl went shopping.

Lunch: pizza

Dinner: tacos from home

ended the night with 1343 calories

Sunday: laundry day - I didn't want to go anywhere and spend money because I was unsure of the status of my job so we stayed home and relaxed. DH and I did try our had at making some cordon bleu, they turned out nice, but kinda bland.

B: fritata, english muffin

L: balanced breaks

D: cordon bleu, mashed potatos, green beans

cordon bleu before the oven

cordon bleu with all the cheese melted out of them. Needed more seasoning or something, just reall bland, I thought.

Ended the night with 1290 calories.

Monday -

B: fritatta, one piece of toast

S: yogurt, black berries,

L: left over chicken pasta from Friday

S: Balanced breaks

D: left over cordon bleu

Today was DH's first day at his new job, It was just so nice to have him home this weekend and there in the morning when I got up. He has to leave for work at 5:15 to get there by 6:00 a.m....so early. I have intentions of getting up with him and exercising, but that didn't happen this morning, maybe tomorrow.

Have a great night! IP

Just a disgusted kind of day!

So, I get home and DH made the chicken, vegetable soup that he was supposed to do, however, he forgot the ravioli and he put like a cup of pepper in it. It was very spicy and unpalatable. I ate the left over cauliflower lasagna!

Then I had a 1/2 peanut butter sandwich because I was starving. Ended the night with 1375 calories.

Lady from anytime fitness called me again, I guess I will go ahead and sign DH and I up, we better go!!!

Ate a donut at work today! My boss wasn't around. So irritated I didn't eat my salad for lunch.

B: toast, PB, banana

iced vanilla latte mix and milk

S: donut

L: yoburt, blackberries, ganola

S: balaned breaks

D: roasted vegetables (beet, sweet potato, red and yellow peppers, cabbage and carrots) with the polenta and goat cheese.

The girl was over, she played on her phone - did not have her book. She did say she gets her report card on Friday and has an A in math. We will see.

No big plans for this weekend...yet!

DH made an incredible cauliflower lasagna for dinner (lasagna with caulifower instead of pasta) it was pretty darn good.

I have been drinking more water this week. I have also been putting fruit in my water which has helped immensely.

Today though, I put lemon, lime and cucumber - will probably leave the cucumber out next time, totally overpowered my citrus.

DH has been rather surly of late. He is anxious about starting his new job - he is out of his comfort zone, but that happens with a new job I suppose. I think tonight may be his last night, he said Thursday, but I think he changed it. Nice four day break to get back on the day shift.

D: caulifower lasagna, dinner roll - 559 calories - ended the night with 1371 calories - i'm very ok with this.

Slept ok, still not getting around as quick as I want, that will surely change next week though, when DH has to be up at 4:30 to get to work by 6:00. If i get up with him, I can exercise - what a concept!!

B: toast, peanut butter, banana - 304

(iced latte - milk & mix - 223)

L: left over cauliflower lasagna & salad - 403

D: chicken, vegetable, ravioli soup (zuccini, squash, onion, spinach)

We have the girl tonight. DH is kinda upset with her about things, so this could be interesting tonight. I don't know why, but DH picked up her ipad and was looking through her messages. Apparently she has been telling her mother that she is not happy at our house. That we stress her out making her read and do her homework and her dad is a butt hole towards her.

And then the YA told his dad that he didn't come over anymore because we stressed his sister out about not getting the book read.

So DH is like, oh if making your sister read her book for a book report and making her do her homework makes me the bad guy...well then I'm your man!! Oh and what high school did you graduate from? Right then, that's what I though!!

Anyway, the YA don't come over anymore because he owes me $200 (he didn't finish paying for a car he bought and then he traded the car off for a hunk of junk truck) - or because we stress his sister out. I'm thinking maybe if his mother stressed him out when he was in school, he might have tried a little harder to make something out of life, instead of standing in line at the food bank with the rest of the losers over there.

anyway, I just can't wait to see how tonight goes - /sarcasm font/

I'd rather be anywhere but home.

Have a great night! IP

Yes no reason not to stress girl out to read maybe show her what happened with her brother how he doesn't have job options and explain to her it will Be better fOr her if she does her work and her name is not "jackie!!!"

innerpeace on 01/18/2018:
I wasn't stressing her out! If asking a thirteen year old if she is reading a book that has to be finished by a certain time to turn in a book report is stressful, what is the world coming too?

If she is so undisciplined that she will NOT do it on her own at her mother's house, nor will the mother push her to read, how is she supposed to get anything accomplished? Is she not responsible for anything? Is it not her assignment to turn in and be graded on? Does she prefer to fail? I am sorry too, if I stress the poor darling out to read a freaking book!!

I told DH I wasn't helping her this quarter. Either the mother or the girl will have to come up with some motivation and/or initiative to read the next book. If I stress her out so much and I will see exactly how well this tactic works!! OMG I am just so incredibly frustrated with this entire situation. I hate it!!

horn_of_plenty on 01/18/2018:
you cant take the situation seriously...you did all you could, for the time being.

maybe have girl speak to her counselor about this stuff...and the counselor can explain that you do your best to get her to do the assignments.

was out for the weekend, I just cannot bring myself to boot up the computer and post. I'm on the computer 6 of the 8 hours I'm at work and try to leave it alone during the weekend.

Friday I get home and we have roasted vegetables and polenta. It is all good - ended the day with 1427 calories.

Saturday I was doing good. DH and I went to weigh in for our biggest loser competition and afterwards thought it would be a great idea to go eat breakfast. It wasn't.

B: eggs, bacon, french toast

D: gyro

And then just when I think we are in for the night, DH wants to go to Trader Joe's (I had never been and it is like 2 cities over). I wasn't impressed, not my style of shopping. And then sence I have an unused gift card from The Cheesecake Factory, we decided to get dessert. White Chocolate Raspberry type put me way over with 930 calories - ended the day with 2225....not one of my best days.

Sunday - DH and I go shopping

B: English muffin

L: Pizza

D: slow cooker pot roast

ended the day with 1557 -

Monday - DH and I got to look at the anytime fitness facility that is right across the highway - 5 minutes away depending on the stop light. I can use the Fitness my way program through our insurance, which will let us use any facility that is part of the program. It includes quite a few within a fifteen mile radius. Just have to pick one now.

B: English muffin

L: 1/2 left over gyro

D: loaded sweet potatos w/corn, black beans, onons, tomotos, avocado, cilantro, a little cheese - this was quite delicious. and

cabbage steaks

Ended the day with1439 calories

Will see about making a fitness location decision...but will we go?

I love Trader Joes...but they are now 5 hours away.....so no more for me.

graindart on 01/16/2018:
I've never been to a Trader Joes. Went to a Whole Foods for the first time over the Christmas vacation. We don't have either of them within 200+ miles of where I live. Whole Foods wasn't overly impressive, although everything was bright and shiny. It did have a 3 year aged Gouda cheese that I was looking for. After trying it, definitely not a fan (love 12-18 month aged Gouda). Just did a giant tray of roasted vegetables myself last night. Overate and was stuffed, but still well within my allotted calories.

Donkey on 01/16/2018:
I went to a Trader Joes years ago and it was not in my comfort zone. However, I live by a different TJ's now, and I've matured, so maybe I should give it another chance.

You're right about the gym. The trick is actually GETTING to the gym. That's why it really helps if it's nearby. BTDT.

Maria7 on 01/16/2018:
I love your food photos. I have never thought about cabbage steaks but it looks easy to do...just spray some oil and roast the cabbage? Looks very good and low cal and I also love the sweet pototoes with the toppings photo, too.

innerpeace on 01/17/2018:
Thanks! I have learned to like cabbage.

horn_of_plenty on 01/17/2018:
Food looks amazing - cabbage steaks are cool I always wonder if they get nice and well cooked like that or not compared to when they are shredded. Veggie dish looks good too...latekynyou eat well but then sabotage yourself by. Having a really big greatness or meal a few days later - maybe try for a small treat everyday if you can can do that like 1-2 PCS chocolate or whatever you like and have with herbal tea or seltzer or something low calorie....instead of eating an entire meal - like if you go out try to eat more veggies still in your meal.....to try not to wreck the good job you are doing ! Cabbage steaks are simply amazing looking

So DH text me that we were going out to celebrate...his new job. Well and because he didn't want to cook. I got home and we left to go to, he originally said Olive Garden, but I'm like NO WAY! So we wound up at Applesbee's. I had a shrimp thai salad, which was ok. Afterwards we went through the drive through at Dairy Queen! Yep used up a bunch of calories. Ended the night with 1789 calories. I'm really ok with this, but this doesn't help with my weight loss.

I overslept this morning and I have sleep scheduled all over my weekend plans. I just kept hitting the snooze button and would not get up. I did make it to work on time, but still feel very rushed.

B: toast, banana, peanut butter

S: yogurt, blackerries

L: salad: mixed greens, apple, pomegranate, walnuts, baked chicken and a little bit of goat cheese

S: balanced breaks

D: some kind of chicken and roasted vegetables

People freaking out about weather rolling in, however, it is not as bad as it was first forecast to be, which may be a good things, I can never tell. I always think it's a bad thing because everyone all ready closed everything and now there is no need to have.

I do want to see the movie Downsizing, may do that this weekend.

DH, the girl and I went to see Jumanji over Christmas and it was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. There were moments in the show where I was laughing so hard, I couldn't catch my breath. It was just so funny.

Anyway, I hope you all have a great weekend! IP
