Tuesday DH and I got up and did our c25k, it was so much better doing it in the morning. No aches or pains this day. I did notice that running is very mental. When we first started I would stare at my phone counting down the seconds to stop! It seemed like it lasted forever. Tuesday, I put the phone in my pocket and just waited, the time seemed to go by faster, no more anticipation, so I thought it was a good session.

Lunch, was a turkey bacon BLT on whole wheat, orange

S: dried pineapple

D: vegetable stir fry with golden curry sauce and a garden salad with orange vinegrette dressing

S: yogurt covered raisons

Wednesday started off ok, but sitting at work I started getting a migraine, which I'm sure is weather related. First I got the aura, the sparkling little lights that appear in my peripheral vision, then comes the light sensitivity and noise amplification so before the nausea hit I left work. Think of a knife jabbing in your eye, twisting your brain and scraping the back side of your scull. Horriffic!!  I just got home and fed the dog and gathered up my blanket (it was 48 out) to close the world out when I heard the garage door start lifing. At first I'm thinking, how is that possible, does someone else's garage door opener work on my garage door. The dog started barking so I got up and opened the door to see. My DH came home too. I'm like OMG what are you doing home, to which he replies...What are you doing home. It was comical. He said I opened the garage door and saw your car and thought DAMN, I'm caught! It was bittersweet because I kinda wanted the house to myself, but I like sitting here with you as well. I told him I would be sleeping to try to get rid of my headache. I slept for about 2 hours and then got up. I hate how my head is sore after a migraine.

B: English muffin with peach-mango jam

L: 1/2 peanut butter on whole wheat

DH left about 3:00 to pick up the little girl. When they got back she read and worked on her homework project. We left at 5:30 to go to what I thought was a class and dinner, but was a class and samples. We had gazpancho (which I thought tasted like salsa with no jalpenos), ratatouille bake (eggplant, zuccini, tomato, peppers, onions & garlic) with cheese tortilini and orange marmalade brussel sprouts. Two of the recipes we will be using at home. DH did not like the brussel sprouts, he said our recipe was better, I thought so too. Because they were just samples, we had to feed the little girl, so we stopped at Arbys and let her eat a chicken sandwich before she went home.

Thursday we were up again to go for our week 3 day 3 session, which was the same as last time, the only thing today was 38 degrees, so DH said he wasn't going. I told him to stay in bed then, i would go by myself. He relunctantly got up and came along. I asked him if his body hurt, he said no, but my hands are cold. I can't believe it is so cold. I have come to the conclusion that you just roll with the weather. Keep a jacket in the car at all times. Apparently it really doesn't bother him as he has lived here in this city his entire life, except the three years he was in the military. I had clothes on with no pockets so I had to force myself not to look at the remaining time. Some how this program forgot the 2:00 minute mark, because we ran from 1:30 minutes to 2:30 minutes and that extra minute seemed like it lasted forever. I was looking ahead and see the 2:00 minutes arrives next week. Mind games...all of it! No pain today, so I'm feeling the slowly but surely vibe. It is hard sometimes when I think back and remember how there was a time when I could run 7.3 miles a day. I would get up on the weekends and go for a run. When you gain weight it gets harder so you just stop all together. I still have my shirt bib and time card when I finished the Kole Kole half marathon in Hawaii, so I know I can do this, I just have to overcome! It sucks letting yourself get so fat.

B: English muffin with nature's best fake butter (not a fan) but Dh makes the toast so I don't complain

L: 1/2 turkey on swiss (this is the last of the turkey meat in the refrigerator), lettuce & tomato

I am leaving today to go to a doctor's appointment. Dreading this! Have a great day!

Progress as of today: 10.7 lbs lost so far, only 7.2 lbs to go!

Yesterday we had meat! DH grilled turkey burgers, which were actually very tasty and not dry at all. All in all I wasn't missing meat too much.

Got all the laundry finished and changed the bed sheets.

B: English muffin with almond butter ( i do not like almond butter)

S: pineapple

L: left over turkey burger

S: 1/2 peanut butter sandwich on one side of bagel

During the weekend, I found a work book the little girl should have taken home with her last Tuesday and I was furious. We just had this conversation about her turning in her homewok. How can she turn in the homework when the workbook was at the house for 3 extra days. DH texted the ex and she eventually came and got it, all she said is we couldn't find it, we didn't even think about asking you! This from the person who said she checked her homework each night! Well how? I was telling DH it might benefit her if they held her back a year. He cannot do the work for her, she must do it for herself. Oh well, hopefully this drama will work itself out.

No plans for dinner tonight I'll figure this out on the ride home, can't waste that 45 minutes on nothing.

Have a great evening! IP

Good morning everyone and Happy Mother's Day to all the moms!!

I missed yesterday, but this is OK. I didn't feel good and I was PMSing BAD!! My hands and feet were so swollen I had to take a diuretic just so I could put some shoes on. DH and I tried to go to garage sales but it seemed that all the ones that had signs up were already closed because we only found three...and bought nothing!

We then came home and took a nap, DH was up early for work and I just bummed around the house. It was supposed to be Week 2 Day 3 of our 5k2c but after yard work we just couldn't get motivated to go!

SO we did it this morning. I must say after the break and maybe because it was morning, I really enjoyed it today....and I hurt no where, so that extra day off was a miracle for me!

I haven't been eating too well this weekend but have been drinking lots of fluid.

Do not have a menu planned today, but will get on it for lunch and dinner for the week.

I had a salad with cranberries and apples from Wendy's that was really tasteful. I had some pizza with DH yesterday too.

Have a great Sunday everyone! Be kind to yourselves! IP

Have a nice Sunday.

It's so nice when there's no pain! Lately I am battling some ankle pain and once it gets better I am going to work on strengthening and weights for my legs instead of cardio until I am feeling better about my ankle.

DH didn't want to get up this morning and do our running. He said his back hurt. Well he's been saying that for over a year now, blaming it on the mattress. We saved money for a new mattress but have yet to go shopping for it, so I guess his back will continue to hurt. I wanted to do it this morning because it was 67 degrees. Now, I will surely be having difficulties with 84 when we get home.

Needless to say I'm very frustrated to say the least. I will just stay off the scale, because I am seeing NOT benefits on the scale going meatless and/or running! To be truthful I'd rather just have a big ole greesy hamburger and to hell with running. However I really want to run on the 4th of July so I will keep trudging on...

D: bean and cheese quasadilla with lettuce, tomoato, onion, salsa and avacado

We took the little girl to her book mark class, we were the only ones who showed up so it was over quickly.. We then sat at a picnic table and read her homework and then took her home.

B: toast with fake butter

S: bagel thin with peanut butter

L: hummus, mushrooms, mixed greens and tomato on whole grain bread

Dinner is TBD.

I guess we will try to run in the hot weather.

Tomorrow we are scheduled to go to another town to their gazebo walk with different crafts and vendors, we will see how that goes.I really need to stay home and clean house a little, especially if my mom popps in unexcpectedly.

Have a great night!

I don't know if you checked out the entry on plant-based eating I put up on the forum, but the big mistake some people make when eating "vegan" is that they still eat the same amount of fat/calories (or more) as they would eating meat/dairy. They also mistakenly eat high-fat, processed "vegan" foods.

As Dr McDougall says, "The fat you eat is the fat you wear!"

I don't have anything against any way that people eat. His program is worth looking into if eating low-fat, plant-based interests you.

I hope you figure out what works for you!

Innerpeace on 05/10/2015:
Yes I read it. I will relook at what we are eating. I didn't think we were eating too much processed food.

OhioRaven on 05/09/2015:
I would stick to the plan anyway. With or without the Hubster. You've got to be good to yourself. I see you eat bread stuff often. Have you ever thought about going Breadless ?

Innerpeace on 05/10/2015:
I know...bread is my weakness! I must try this! Thanks.

Yesterday was the hardest running day of all, I didn't  think I would make it. Running? It is more or less a trot, but I'm moving so I'll take it. The last running interval ending a block from my house, I didn't think I could make it back to the house and I was just walking. My back hurt so bad. DH was ahead of me and trotted the extra few yards home. I will stick with it though, I really want to do this. At least I'm not hurting the day after, DH's knee is still giving him trouble.

D: Knorr's pasta sides with steamed broccoli and cauliflower and a garden salad with light orange vinigrette (a bagged salad from Wal-Mart) it was really refreshing and tasty.

S: tropical fruit smoothie with apple juice

After dinner DH went and got some more water and some banana, while I tried to recover from the running we did.

B: tropical fruit smoothie with apple juice

S: whole wheat bagle with peanut butter

L: pita pocket with hummas, cauliflower and tomato

D: is supposed to be bean burritos with salsa. Lettuce, tomators & alvocado

The little girl has a class a the library tonight to make a pressed flower book mark. After we are taking the dog to the dog park and then dropping her off at home. I can see a diet doctor pepper in my future.

Have a great day.IP

OhioRaven on 05/07/2015:
You may be moving slow, but you're faster than everyone on the couch. Keep at it. I would really like to see you succeed.

I got home and made some black bean and corn salsa. I also made a alvocado and corn salad with honey lime dressing. When DH got home he grilled cheese quesadillasi in a wheat tortilla and we ate those with the black bean salsa. It was very tasty.

I helped the little girl with her homework and DH took a shower. After they left and went to read to the dog while I did the dishes. It was kinda chilly last night with the rain coming in. He took her home.

D: chese quesadilla with black bean corn salsa and corn and avacoda salad with tomatos

s: 1/2 wheat pita bread with 1Tsp of peanut butter and Diet Dr. Pepper

B: life cereal  with cashew milk

S: I had a donut at work, damnit

L: black bean corn salsa with corn tortilla chips, 1/2 pita pocket with peanut butter

S: gold fish (I will not be eating these anymore) they are making my hands and feet swell. Thanks for nothing sALT!

c25K when I get home. I did try to get up and do it this morning, but the snooze button prevailed!

Have a great evening. IP

It started raining yesterday on my way home from work. Don't you know the wheels in my head were spinning every which way to get out of doing the c25k program. When I picked DH up at work, he had a bad day, so i'm think YAY I won't have to do it. But once we got home it wasn't raining and DH said go get changed so I did. I thought I was going to die yesterday but we finished. I hope it some day gets easier.

D: left over egg plant parmigian with maranara sauce and wheat spaghetti noodles.

S: DH made a smoothing with frozen fruit and apple juice

I slept great last night, even my dog slept all night.

B: toast with vegan non dairy butter - it was really OK, I didn't taste much (I still haven't cooked with it - I will try later)

S: 1/2 peanut butter in wheat pita pocket

L: couc cous and steam kale, orange

S: fish crackers, I forgot the name of them

D: I made some black beans. This is TBD

Slow day at work, I will be glad to get out of here and go home. DH is picking the little girl up and she is going to the Teens at the Table class. They are making microwave pizza. Then they are coming home and she is then supposed to go to Time for Tails to read to the dog at the library, she really enjoyed that. DH got a text from the exwife telling him her van was broke down to bring the little girl home. Excuse me? You don't tell me to do anything, you might ask me to.  I told DH he should have told her, he would just keep her until her van was fixed, but he didn't think it was too funny. Oh well, this should be an interesting evening.

Have a good one! IP

Not a fan of the scale today! Very, very frustrated to say the least. I will keep trying.

B: two pieces whole grain toast with sweet potato butter

L: wheat pita pocket with mixed greens, tomato, acorn squash and cauliflower with honey lime dressing

S: peanut butter on flat sandwwich rounds

D: left over eggplant parmigian with wheat noodles

Should do week two day one of c25k, this may have to be changed to the morning, i'm afraid we'll get overheated running in the evening.

Today was the last day of the happiness class and a girl walked in late. She just sat at the first seat she came to, the instructor asked her to join the class and she said she couldn't. She was crying and said she just found out her nephew was shot and killed. She was really upset and said she needed to leave, the instructor didn't want her to be alone so a couple of other women left with her for comfort. Nothing like a happiness class with a shot of reality in it. I just hope that didn't happen near me again. This is getting rediculous. I think received a text from DH telling me to be careful on my way home because of rioters downtown Cleveland. Great! That's all I need, I'm right smack in the middle of Cleveland, maybe they are elsewhere.

Did manage to score 2nd row seats to a showing of Shrek the musical for the little girl, we will have to drive to Akron though. She will really enjoy this.

Loved the Glass Menagerie play. I didn't remember it ending the way it did, but this is a memory from highschool, so who knows. We got home late and tried to watch the movie Multiplicity but it kept freezing so we just watch the Disney Channel instead. I am so tired of Austin & Ally, Jessie and Girl Meets World, this was my entertainment for most of the morning.

Woke up about 8:00 this morning DH finished laying the mulch, which I am glad, I really do not like the stuff. For a slow day I feel really tired. We left about noon and took Steve to the dog park, stayed about 45 minutes. I got home and had to start the laundry, the never ending task.

B: biscuit, scrambled egg

L: left over pasta from Friday night

D: breaded eggplant with marinara sauce and wheat pasta - this will be dinner tomorrow as well, along with left over cous cous and kale.

Am not looking forward to MOnday...I have the blues already just thinking abou tit.

Have a good night!

I also had some kale tonight. It was premade from a nearby foodstore...they are a run of the mill place, nothing fancy, but they do have a nice kale salad in the deli section!

I like it because it doesn't get all wilted, it kind of keeps its texture, unlike spinach.

Up this morning at 7:00, DH and I did day 3 of the c25k. We ran around the neighborhood. I felt pretty good and have great hopes of finishing the program and topping it off with a 5K race on July 4th. DH said his knee is hurting, hopefully it will go away. While on our jaunt through the neighborhood we saw a garage sale with a book shelf and DH went back after our run and got it for $15. I love saving money, the bookshelf is as good as new.

DH and little girl went to Home Depot and did the kid's project it was a picture frame today. While they were gone I finished planting the flat of pansies and am so happy they are finally planted.

We did have breakfast from Taco Bell I had a biscuit with egg and what they called bacon was cold and crumbly I raked it off. DO NOT recommend this. GO ELSEWHERE FOR BREAKFAST!!

We headed out the door to an in door garage sale I found two weeks ago, came out of there with three tennis rackets and a candle. Then we headed off to the zentangle class. Had a good time.

Came home took a nap and now headed off to see the play Glass Menagerie.

B: nastiness from Taco Bell - taco bisquit with scrambled egg

L: swiss cheese and bread from the grocery store (not exactly on my plant based living diet)

D: grilled portobello mushroom, cous cous with kale and mixed vegetables (brocolli, carrots, red  & yellow peppers.

I also had the most delicious Diet Dr. Pepper, I loved it so!

Here is a sample from our zentangle class! So relaxing.
