Decisions, decisions

Spent all day yesterday tending the fireplace. Furnace went out - I think we jinxed ourselves. Two weeks ago we starting getting estimates for replacement and then TA DA!! It just goes out! We are the luckiest people in the world! We've had three companies over depending on the brand and size it could be anywhere from $7500-10K for replacement. However, I think we have opted to get it repaired one more time (to get through the worst of winter) and then get it replaced in the spring...so regardless of when, we will still have to pay out the big bucks. Maybe we will find a sale in spring, maybe court will be over and settled and maybe, just maybe there will be a handle on the corona virus and I will feel safer will different people traipsing in and out of my house. Repair man will be here shortly, I'm hoping it can be repaired for less than $500...one more time.

Actually I think I have slept better with the house a little colder the last two nights. Hovering right around 60-62 with the fireplace going. A little cooler upstairs...I'm not complaining about sleep. It gets a little chillier than I like sitting at the countertop working on the laptop...I have a small space heater to use when I can't feel my fingers to type.

I didn't pick up the girl, because she comes over and takes a shower and right now...that is really uncomfortable to do, so she opted to stay home. I will get her tomorrow for her birthday weekend (today is actually her Birthday). We are having her little party Saturday afternoon, I think DH is going to get Tony Bologna boy so he can join in. I will have a piece of cake.

Thursday - blood sugar 117

B: Maple cheerios, iced vanilla latte

L: 1/2 grilled cheese

D: chicken paprikash - this was ok something I used (spaetzel or paprika) actually tasted old.

Took the doggos around the block twice - they don't like the cold either.

Blood sugar this a.m. 104!! so happy about this

B: 1/2 pumpkin spice bagel with cream cheese, iced vanilla latte

L: 1/2 grilled cheese

D: maybe heat up this frozen shepherd's pie with brocolli

Have a great day, it's Thursday! IP

Progress as of today: 42.6 lbs lost so far, only 85.3 lbs to go!

Donkey on 12/10/2020:
Way to go on the blood sugar!!!!!

Thank goodness you have the fireplace. Hey, it's something. I hope the repair works and holds for the duration of winter. Stay warm!!!

Jacky82020 on 12/10/2020:
When one of our furnaces went out (we have 3 gas furnaces of varying sizes), Matt (the husband) shopped online and found the best price on a good brand. Then he talked to our HVAC guy. Nice man who works with his son. Mike said it was an excellent furnace & one he sold AND The online price was much better than he could do. So he quoted an installation price and told Matt to order it. Can’t recall details. Want to say it came in at 4K, but not at all sure. But it was an excellent value. It was delivered & Mike and his kid installed it the next day.

grannyannie on 12/10/2020:
Maddening when heat goes out in winter!

We got a new heating system in 2011? It's a ground source heat pump and it keeps the temp in the house the same all year. The heating bills were cut by 2/3. I think it was £10K. Scottish government backed the programme and offered 0% interest to everybody that wanted it.

Happy birthday to the girl!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/10/2020:
that's a LOT of money to pay for all those repairs! So sorry..! but that is house ownership!!! (sorry to tell you, i just had a wall AC/heater replaced free of charge today!!!!...sorry).

where are your pumpkin bagels from??

innerpeace on 12/11/2020:
Aldi

Horn_of_plenty on 12/08/2020:
UGH...so sorry you will have to replace the furnace! i hope you do it soon so that you aren't chilly for much longer!!!!!

your bagel sounds great.

I may be indulging in some bagels this week as i have a bunch at home. I will prob put several in the freezer.

Donkey on 12/09/2020:
Oh brother! I'm so sorry this has happened. Many years ago, we had this happen but in early November. It was cold but not impossible.

Also in past years, I've received the following as Christmas "gifts": double oven, garbage disposal, and my all time favorite, a garage door.

And it looks like this year. I might be getting a new flue (like a metal chimney). Woo woo...

Horn_of_plenty on 12/09/2020:
do you make the vanilla latte or do you pick up the bagel and the latte?

innerpeace - Monday Dec 07, 2020

Made it below and lost my Thanksgiving gain!

Since the snow, walking has been limited. We do make it around the block a few times, but this is way less than how we were walking. The doggos miss it and they get cold. I've tried sweaters and jackets and booties, but I just can't make them comfortable the sweaters and jackets bind and they can't move well and they said...hell NO to the booties, so their feet get cold and the puppy will just whimper and hold his front paws up...so heart breaking. So we have just been making quick trips around the block.

Friday I worked from home, had things to do so was pretty busy.

Saturday DH worked, was home all alone. I can't even remember what I did..not much...FOOTBALL!

B: toast, vanilla iced latte

L: tomato soup

D: spaghetti

Sunday - DH and I went out. I said since we are out, we might as well be out and do what we need to do. We left at 9:00 a.m. and got back about 1:30, still didn't find what we were looking for. Shopping for the girl's BD, which is Thursday, however, we are celebrating it over the weekend, when she is here.

B: 1/2 pumpkin spice bagel with cream cheese, vanilla iced latte

L: turkey sandwich from Arby's with curly fries

D: beer brat with hogie roll and two peanut butter cookies with Reese peices. (these are gone, thank goodness they were delicious)

Monday

working from home again - have lots to do today so will be busy.

wrapping birthday gifts for the girl.

making Christmas decorations for a tree I see in my mind...gingerbread!

I've always told the girl, I wouldn't decorate the house or put up the Christmas Tree until AFTER her birthday. I just feel it should be seperated, I think December birthdays get the shaft.

No more talk or discussion about POS and her deranged husband. I don't care if this man inherits $2 million dollars. I do NOT want his money. And if he really cared about a truce between DH and himself he would have tried talking to him before any money got involved. He's delusional and I detest both the man and the POS ex wife. They are the worst kind of people.

Have a great Monday!! It is here make the best of it!

Check out this A frame house we saw driving around yesterday! It is fantastic - ground to floor windows - phenominal site. I just wonder where the bedrooms are and where's the privacy...maybe somewhere in the middle of the house!

Progress as of today: 42.6 lbs lost so far, only 85.3 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 12/07/2020:
Cool house! I love big windows.

December birthdays are tough. My brother is Dec 28th and so is one of our grandnephews.

Do you think that guy really inherited that much or was he just trying to annoy you?

innerpeace on 12/07/2020:
I don't even know. DH's son the YA said he seen the paperwork. But I always thought things like this had to go to probate court and took forever. I just don't know and I don't care. I just know that his business owes over $170K in taxes so I'm sure the government will get more than he anticipates...ANNOYING to say the least.

grannyannie on 12/07/2020:
Well done on the weight loss!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/07/2020:
OMG. that house, STUNNING! so beautiful. i guess they can put shades down for privacy...but i guess if you want a glass house, you give some of that up...unless you use shades.

i'd def live there, too. what a beautiful home.

also, hopefully your snow will melt a bit so you can continue your longer walks. too bad the dogs can't do the booties!!! can you kinda push them on the dogs and...and make them wear them? but perhaps you have tried. and maybe you aren't liking the cold either, outside, for long periods of time walking?

i have a soft spot for the Arby's fries too...arbys is very close to me, just under a mile. so a very quick drive. like 5min.

I pretty much that if the truce has to involve money, it may not go right and could lead to more arguments. Money leads to arguments. i'd be weary. if you don't trust the man, perhaps it'd not the best to trust that money...SADLY...because everyone wants a little more money...who knows. maybe you'll earn more about this...and money will talk, i doubt it though.

grannyannie on 12/07/2020:
I think you only need probate court if there is no will.

grannyannie on 12/07/2020:
We decided against getting new drapes or shades when we got our new windows put in. So the living/dining has no window covers. We do have heavy drapes in the bedroom but don't even shut them in winter, only in summer when you can get the sun right in your eyes at about 4:30am.

Donkey on 12/08/2020:
Well done on your weight loss! Proud of you!

innerpeace - Friday Dec 04, 2020

Weight: 296.4

Yesterday WAS ok....

I got home about noon and ate some BBQ pork pizza.

About 4:30 the girl and I ate the pork roast, carrots and instant mashed potatoes - it was ok.

The girl left at 7:00

at 7:15 I get a call from POS (the piece of sh!t ex wife) I let it ring a few times and decided to answer because I thought she'd want to discuss something important. She says hang on a second and she hands the phone to her delusional husband. Who starts in with his crazy BS. I listen. He wants to talk to DH...why? This man tried to text DH all weekend and he just doesn't want to have anything to do with this person. He finally blocked his number. He goes on to say he was talking to a lady (like a grandmother) who just died and left him over a million dollars. He just wants to talk to DH to offer him $50K and call a truce. This man says, I just don't know why he won't talk to me, why does he hate me so? I took his wife. Uh...yeah, cheated and disrepected everything he believes in, he loved that woman, he was crushed. Well, we need to call a truce and get on with life. OK, whatever, I will give your message to him. And then he starts with the girl and how went shouldn't have gotten a lawyer and how his lawyer was going to make ours look stupid in court, this was all and good, but then he says...oh and if I had it my way, the girl would never come over there. And she is supposed to be picked off and dropped off by the dad, that's what my lawyer said. I said, that is not true. I'm finished talking. I will give DH your message, congratulations and just like I say with the weather...I'll believe it when I see it.

I know they were still in the car because they live more than 15 minutes away...so the girl was hearing all of this.

I was so angry after this call, I was shaking and cold, irritated and disgusted and OMG I've never hated anyone as I hate these people. The POS is a snake and instead of playing stupid games (I would have talked to her probably) she wants to hand the phone to the deranged husband.

The first thing I did was text DH and asked him to call when he could.

The second thing I did was look at the divorce decree to see who is supposed to pick up or drop off the girl...whose ever visitation is starting is responsible for the transportation. So if they want to start visitation with the girl they need to come and pick her up...case closed. So the deranged man is paying for an idiot lawyer.

The girl text me and says - I know you are mad.

My reply was not appropriate - I don't regret it - but I shouldn't have texted it - Your mom's a b1tch.

The girl - I know

I then texted - just for the record - Your mom is suppose to pick you up and I sent her the screen shot of the divorce degree

She replies - I know, they just want to cause trouble.

WHY OMG I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THESE PEOPLE!

I was keyed up the rest of the night and couldn't even get to sleep until well after mid night.

Up at 5:30 - blood sugar was 129 - wt 296.9

B: yogurt, granola, vanilla iced latte

L: left over pork roast, cottage cheese

D: scrambed eggs and bacon

will istacart today.

no big plans for the weekend, I think DH is working again.

Cyber shopped - I can't bring myself to go out in the world.

Sorry for my post...I just need to vent.

Have a great weekend. IP

Progress as of today: 41.5 lbs lost so far, only 86.4 lbs to go!

Jacky82020 on 12/04/2020:
Wow! Do you believe he inherited a million? I’d be skeptical if anyone said that to me. Maybe he will come up with a lame excuse to retract the offer, so you guys never see a penny.

I always thought teens were allowed to decide who they want to live with. I know of a few who emancipated themselves (often on flimsy grounds) and left home.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/04/2020:
your I'll believe it when i see it" seems to be the perfect way to view the situation of DH's ex and her husband and this whole drama. I have some agreement on Jacky with how she feels about that "million." But when people pass away, well, it could be...maybe not after 1/3 in taxes are taken out and who knows what else. i wouldn't believe it or be jealous or get to annoyed yet...it's not worth it, not even for that. after all, it's not your money.

next time, maybe exit the phone call earlier, say now is not a good time to talk about this....if he is such a POS on the phone in front of girl.

at least the girl is pretty level-headed. you are lucky in this case, that it's a sweet girl and not some crazy girl ;) she's a sweetie.

grannyannie on 12/05/2020:
OMG! Wrong's wrong with people?

Do you think he really inherited a million?

Donkey on 12/05/2020:
Wow, what a phone call.... I'm at a loss for words.

I'd be very skeptical about his "inheritance".

Also, I think that's an awful proposition to offer $50,000 to call a truce. You can't just buy people's feelings. And I have to wonder if this was some sort of entrapment with the impending court stuff coming up. Sorry, Mr. Ex, but things like integrity can't be bought. Sheesh, what a piece of work.

Maria7 on 12/05/2020:
Hope you are having a better day today.

innerpeace - Thursday Dec 03, 2020

Weight: 296.4

Picked up the girl.

We decided on Applebee's. It was just OK. Had a south west steak bowl - reminded me of Chipotle.

Slept ok, weird dreams.

Went to the office today - asked to come in two or three times per week. Was told not right now - maximum telework due to COVID-19 spikes. Holy hell well, I guess if I forget to pay another bill and the electricity gets cut off you'll let me come to work. Oh well, I will get through this.

Girl is still here doing teleschool, I think she leaves at 7:00

DH put a pork roast in the crock pot, but I think I'm going to be eating the BBQ smoked pork butt pizza I made...so so good.

Might take the doggos around the block when I get off work, it is tolerable out there.

B: yogurt and granola, vanilla iced latte

L: BBQ pork pizza

D: TBD maybe BBQ pizza or pork roast

Blood sugar this a.m. 120 - kinda stuck here.

Have a great Thursday!

Progress as of today: 41.5 lbs lost so far, only 86.4 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 12/03/2020:
Best to work from home.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/03/2020:
I love chipotle but was never an Applebee's fan! it's just not my thing! but i'm not judging you!

Teleschool has got to be hard. I'm glad i'm not a teenager now. I feel i'd miss out on some of my education and i'm not sure i'd be motivated as much as i was by actually going to school. that's just ME, thinking back to my own days as a high school kid. I feel your step daughter most probably has more of a zest for learning than i did in my teens. good for her!

at least your blood sugar is down from the other day in the 130's...a work in progress i see...

Oh that pizza does sound really good!

innerpeace - Wednesday Dec 02, 2020

Weight: 296.4

The girl didn't come over - she texted saying her mom told her to stay home and she will be over tomorrow (today) and can stay the night and go home on Thursday. This is fine - I didn't want to get out anyway. I watched three people get stuck on our street because of the snow. Neighbors dug them out.

It stopped snowing about 8:00 pm. The plows came through about 10:30 and plowed the snow and made a 3 foot barrier at the end of our drive way. I hate this. DH and I spent almost 2 hours this morning moving the barrier so we could get the cars out later - him to go to work - me to get the girl.

I also spent about 45 minutes shoveling a path way for my doggos. I made on path to the fence, so they can bark, and one in a semi circle from the patio out into the yard and back.

some of the dog path

After shoveling the barrier, I walked around the block - saw the snow...so pretty, but some trees are like...no way, this is too much!

Diamonds in the snow -

Sad, sad tree - struggling with the weight of the snow - kinda like my body..but the sky is so, so blue!

Most people didn't shovel the sidewalk so I was walking in the street, slipped a few times, but didn't fall.

Back is better today...thank goodness!

Dinner last night was a 1/2 chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms and cheese - it was just ok (I ate 4 pieces of bread after tho) so, so dumb

Slept ok last night

Blood sugar this a.m. 120 (surprising after the bread binge). Weight this a.m. 297.1 so I will get back down to my posted weight and go from there!

B: yogurt and granola, vanilla ice latte

L: TBD

D: IDEFK - probably get something on the way from getting the girl - DH took out smoked pork, could do something with that, but I haven't decided yet.

Working from home - going into the office tomorrow morning - because ...

I have came to the realization that I don't take my work seriously when at home. I just do the minimum amount and find it hard to apply myself. I will try to change this and concentrate better.

Have a great day! IP

Glad your back is better. Snow looks so pretty when it's fresh.

Donkey on 12/02/2020:
Pretty photos! But not fun to shovel, and I know it does get a little dreary after a while.

I dislike it when people don't shovel their sidewalks. On the other hand, people did that last year (around my work neighborhood) and the remaining snow melted, then re-froze into a thin layer of ice. I slipped, fell, and hit the back of my head HARD on the sidewalk. So maybe it's better if folks don't shovel.

horn_of_plenty on 12/02/2020:
Not sure where my comment went ! I thought I sent it!

That is a ton of snow and I’m wondering if you had the nerve or desire to go out of your house while they were plowing If you could direct them not to plow you in! But this may have happened to everyone if maybe it was just too much snow and it sounds like it was plenty.

I’m sure you don’t even want to think of leaving your home while you are warm and cozy in ththe middle of the night when the plows come.

Better off you stay off THe roads now and get the girl at a future date when the roads are a bit better !

Maria7 on 12/03/2020:
Wow, it looks SO COLD up your way. Good you didn't have to get out in the cold and could have a day for yourself at home. Have a good day.

innerpeace - Tuesday Dec 01, 2020

Weight: 296.4

I did something to my back - pain the last few evenings - blaming it on my new recliner for now.

L: left over pork chop and green beans

D: chicken, tomato, cucumber salad and cottage cheese

Waiting for DH to get home (it was snowing pretty bad) went to bed about 11:45.

Snow started last night and hasn't stopped. We shoveled and snow blowed this morning, but 4 hours later, doesn't even look like we did anything.

I hate the snow. I can't walk, my dogs can't walk - miserable.

I did shovel the dogs a path in the back yard - well - it was there - it is halfway filled back in.

DH snowblowing this a.m. the sidewalk and our driveway. Measurement said right at 8.5 inches - I'm sure we got about 2 more. I guess my work people were spot on this time! Who would have known.

B: granola and yogurt, vanilla iced latte

L: salsa, tortilla chips and some spinach and artichoke dip

D: TBD

I haven't decided if I'm going to get out in the snow to pick the girl up, I will see how she is feeling.

I have a training seminar today at noon and another one at 3:00 so I will be busy today.

Have a great evening!...and SNOW!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/01/2020:
nice job of maintaining your new weight! I read it was practically the same, for your yesterday's weigh-in...

seems the people you work with were right, snow came and came strong! whoa! that is soooo scary to me, on the first of December, so much snow! whoa! But I assume you and your neighbors are somewhat used to this by now...?

I hope your back feels better and that your training sessions go well. So nice you have these training sessions so that you stay current at your job.

Donkey on 12/02/2020:
That is a LOT of snow. I'm looking forward to walking in the snow but that is too much! At least you didn't have to drive to work.

I hope your back feels better today. A good excuse not to shovel, though (ha ha).

horn_of_plenty on 12/02/2020:
That’s a lot of time snowing! And yes that’s the worst when you get plowed in! I wonder if you went outside if you could tell them not to plow the snow all by you?! Unless it’s just because it snowed so much ?! And everyone is somewhat plowed in?!

Yeah with all the snow on the ground it’s better if you don’t need to get girl in that mess ! I hope the roads improve !

Weight: 296.4

Made it through the holiday weekend. I weighed in today at 298.6. I'm not chaning my weight!

I did eat more sweet stuff - and that will stop again. I had pie, a blizzard and a cherry cobbler thing. All is gone now so no more indulgence.

Tony Bologna came over we took them on a walk with us and also to see the holiday lights. It was OK, I've seen better, but no complaining. We walked up the slow, long hill at Cascade Park. Again it is satisfying when you make it to the top!

Sunday - two walks and laundry.

Monday - cold and raining - they say it is supposed to snow about 8 inches...lol...these are the people I work with and I am still reluctant to jump on this snow wagon! We will see tonight.

DH did make sure the snow blower worked - started up on the first try. It's funny though, everytime we actually need to use it, there is always issues with starting it.

B: granola and yogurt

L: left over pork tenderloin (4 oz.) and green beans

D: grilled chicken with tomatos and cucumber

Finally received a call from doctor - new appointment is 1/4/2021 - so another month.

December...will make this happen!

Have a great day!

Here is a picture at the top of the hill -

Wednesday

left work at noon

made two pies - pumpkin and chocolate pecan

went to get the girl - she talked a lot about her family and drama - feel so sad for her at times.

DH was home at 5:00

Dinner was hamburger with BBQ sauce, wrapped in a canned biscuit with a little cheese, broccoli and salad - different

Dessert - I had a piece of the chocolate pecan pie - I think this was the best pie I have ever made in my life (cut it in half along with the pumpkin and sent the halves home with the girl)

DH and I went on a walk around the neighbor hood.

Thursday

DH and I went on a walk in the drizzle/misty rain

Got home and raked leaves that had blown in our yard from the wind event from a week ago - we had so many leaves in our yard from the neighborhood - yard looks so much better now.

cooked baked chicken with dressing, cranberry sauce, green beans for Thanksgiving and then ate a piece of chocolate pecan pie and a piece of pumkin pie

DH and I went on another walk to Indian Hollow - it was cloudy but mild and it looks ugly there

When we got home - ate left overs baked chicken, dressing, cranberry sauce and instead of pie had the yeast rolls that we finished thawing and rising on the stove.

Lots of carbs this day and went over calories by about 450...so so glad I sent the rest of the pies home with the girl or else I'm sure we would have finished them off.

Friday - no Black Friday shopping for me - I am not going out with the population.

B: vanilla iced latte

L: TBD - grilled chicken, tomatoe and cucumber salad

D: TBD - maybe Chipolte - DH is going to get the girl for the weekend.

It's okay to eat forbidden foods on Thanksgiving! Sounds yum and the burger sounded interesting.

Will be great when the girl is with you full time.

Lovely photo. Very peaceful.

Hi InnerP! That was really sweet of you to write something specific to everyone here and why you value us, your friends, at DD! I found it so specific and kind to all of us. Thanks for making me feel good, too!

I have never even heard of a chocolate pecan pie, can't see how it could be anything but great!

that really is a beautiful path. i like how you can see all around the path because there are no leaves left on the trees and because they are so tall! I'd love to walk there!

Have a wonderful, Holiday weekend. You deserve it, too, for all you do! :) We love having you here, too, no doubt!
