I feel grumpy today :(

Played ball last night but we didn't have enough players so we lost the game. I still managed a couple of good hits out to right field and I pulled one straight at the pitcher. I'm glad he caught it, if it hit him it would have hurt.

Just like the ball that I took on my right calf hurt. Note to self: when running from third base, remember to keep your eyes OPEN and watch where the hit goes. Unfortunately, I didn't see the hit at all AND I turned my body right around so had it not been a grounder I might have eaten the ball to the back of my head. Dummy. So. Yeah. That hurts a bit.

AND I forgot all about my pushups yesterday! What the heck Early Dementia?

I forgot to do a lot of things yesterday, like check my grocery list so that I don't double up on things I already have. At least I got the dishes washed.

I had chicken salad for lunch yesterday and turkey sausage with pasta, green onions and swiss chard for dinner, with a little parmesan. My snacks were yogurt and granola, and almonds with caramel-chocolate dip.

Today's plan is the same as yesterday, sans forgetfulness.

Whoa!! easy there killer, trying to take the pitcher out?? LOL I am sure you have aa nice bruise on your calf, taking a hit like that is never fun.. :( i hope you can pull yourself out of your grumpy mood..I just hope that no one crosses you the wrong way, there will be hell to pay!!

As for the armband, you can see your stats instantaneously with a Smartphone or buy a digital display to go with it. Here is the link to their website: www.bodymedia.com .If you do decide to buy it, I'd recommend looking for it on amazon.com to save yourself some money. :)

Ouch!! At least you are out there doing something legcramps so you a winning one battle. I always figure that if I am limping it is great to say it was a sporting injury - there is something socially exceptable about that!! I make lists for everything, then leave them at home or forget where I put them:) So frustrating, I empathise with you:)

do your pushups girl! i usually do them first at the gym, so that i don't loose to much energy and stamina after doing all the other weight work...

a thousand thanks go out to you for the comments you've been leaving, but especially today. i am not good with leaving comments here bc things have just gotten too busy and unfortunately it's hard to fit it all the time. but i appreciate you reading my journal and giving some words of advice or support.

i will try to leave more comments to you...and others, but i find that time is ticking and i don't seem to have enough these days!

Happy Monday girls!

My weekend felt like it went by super-fast, but i'm in a great mood because it was a great weekend!

I went to an evening meeting on Friday and hit the sack pretty early. Even though I went to bed early, I still didn't wake up on Saturday until 9am so i'm assuming my body must have needed some rest! My eats on Friday were good except for an unplanned afternoon snack (raisin-cinnamin biscuit).

On Saturday I did some weeding outside (o.m.g. there are thistles in my garden. thistles.) and took Dog for a walk. She is doing alright, still taking anti-biotics. I went to a friend's for dinner where I ate a burger, some cucumber salad, a little taste of her spicy chili, and raw veggies with an onion dip that was delicious.

On Sunday morning, I headed into the city with a couple of friends for a folk festival. It was rainy and cloudy during the drive, but thank goodness it didn't rain on us the entire time we were there! The performers we saw were awesome - pop, alternative, blues, r&b, gospel, country and definite bluegrass - so amazing! I purchased a blues CD and I love it so far :)

I also stocked up on handmade soap. I love me some handmade soap. Now I have six new bars to smell up the bathroom! (Seriously, throw me in a handmade soap shop and i'm like a kid in a candy store.)

We went out to dinner afterwards where I had a chicken quesadilla and ceasar salad. I only had one slice of the quesadilla because i'd forgotten to ask them to remove the cheddar cheese, but the one slice I had was good! And the salad was really delicious - they grilled a chunk of romaine and added croutons and parmesan. What an interesting way to serve salad!

Tonight is a ballgame, wish us luck!

sounds like a wonderful weekend! I too love handmade soap... My mom is totally addicted and she has gotten me into it over the years! Good luck tonight at your ballgame!!

I just watched a cooking show last week where the chef made a grilled romaine salad. She devoured the entire thing while making the main dish, lol.

Ball practice and the pushup challenge is really doing their job - my muscles are pretty sore today! All of 'em! Even my butt!

So it was nice to loosen up those muscles a bit this morning with a nice 1.5 mile walk with Walking Buddy. It was a pretty nice, relaxing walk; I think I will try to copy the same route with Dog after work today and see if it's any busier at 4pm than at 7am ;) I had a little trouble towards the end of the walk with my back/hips so i'm hoping it's simply due to sore muscles.

I'm looking forward to this weekend, especially since the workweek has felt like it's gone on forever! Yesterday I wasn't feeling well after work (strange day-long headache and nausea) and icksnayed everything and layed on the couch all night so that slowed time down a bit too. Anyways, tonight I have an evening meeting, tomorrow night dinner with great friends, and Sunday i'm heading to a folk festival for the afternoon. I'm excited because I went to this folkfest last year and it was a lot of fun and only 1.5 hours away from home. I'm expecting to have a great time!

(this is not the festival i'm going to.)

I went a little overboard on the eats yesterday, likely due to the fact that I was lounging around the house all evening. I did well during the day with coffee and a muffin for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch and a grilled burger pattie with grilled veggies and brown rice for dinner, but then everything went out the window. When I finally came to consciousness again (lol) I had eaten half a container of chocolate-caramel dip with more than a few handfuls of almonds. I hope today will be better - coffee, chicken salad, burger pattie with grilled veggies and pasta. I'm pretty sure I can still feel some almonds in my stomach.

I truly sweated yesterday at ball practice. And I wanted to keep going after the hour long practice was up, so I hit some balls by myself for a few minutes afterwards until I felt like a loser badass. Is there such a thing? Oxymoron?

Anyways, I forced the only guy that came out to practice to hit some balls out to us girls in the field and we RAN and SWEATED and HUFFED through the whole thing. It was awesome. If only we could have ball practice once a week I would start to consider ball to be a workout.

I took Dog for a walk after work and she did alright. It was quite warm out though, so she tired quickly. I'm glad I took water with me because she really needed it - I gave her water three times during the half-hour walk.

I also did Week 1 Day 3 of the pushup challenge. I am going to take a couple days off and then start Week 2. In the meantime, there's this thing i've been avoiding lately that I really need to sit down and deal with... BOOTCAMP. Baby steps. Still dealing with GI issues but I think it's getting better. Hopefully I will be at 100% soon. Until then, I can only do what I can do.

If I was at 100% i'd probably be going to bootcamp, playing ball, walking in the mornings, and running at least twice a week. I sure have missed the running lately. I have a 5k coming up at the end of the month, so I hope to be in better shape soon so that I can get a few training runs in. I'm afraid my cardio is no longer where it used to be.

In other news, I REALLY need to weed my garden. They're taking over, the dumb things. Oh, why can't there be 28 hours in a day so that I can take a four hour nap after work and still have time to do everything else????

I agree that there aren't enough hours in the day. Don't work yourself too hard. I totally endorse naps of any length and hereby give you permission to take one whenever you want -- for how ever long you want! :)

i was a loser and texted mr. wonderful, haha, i texted him "goodnight" last night...actually, this is what i really texted "stopping by to say hi!" lol. so, he did text back later, saying he hoped i was able to sleep well. (bc the night he stayed over i didn't sleep well, at all.) anyways, i don't know. i need to get him off my mind for a little bit. i cannot push him to contact me if i doesn't want to.

sorry about your GI issues, i know what you mean. tomorrow at work i'll probably have a little bit of issues, because i had a large dinner and too much eggplant.

do you think it's crazy for a woman, small woman, to want to be a cop? i am thinking about this. the training is so short, 6 months, and i would be so proud, day in and day out, to work with NYC's best...

I just thought i'd show you this: (well no, actually, i'm really freaking bored right now and I thought i'd screw around taking pictures instead of working. hope my boss doesn't know about dds.)

 This is a corner of my bulletin board. I've pasted it with pictures of people and things running, and halls wrappers.

Halls wrappers? Why, you ask?

Because the halls packages we get in the cafeteria's vending machine has great sayings on them, like "Let's hear your battle cry" and "You can do it and you know it". I like that. I think Halls are awesome but OF COURSE I only eat them when my throat is sore...

I wanted to take a picture of my hair-do today, because it's very rare that I actually do anything with it besides blow-dry and straighten.

This was the first picture I took of myself. I kinda missed.





  The second pictures was a little better, but I was still a little off. I have really great picture-taking abilities when i'm snapping other things, promise.

I completed Day 2 of the pushup challenge - 51 pushups with max 13. I'm sure i've said this on facebook, i've said this in the forums, and i've probably already said it in my entries but, my abs HURT! I can see how pushups work so many muscles in the body, not just the arms. I'm ready for Day 3 today!

I didn't go to bootcamp yesterday (this sentence has a familiar ring to it). My grandma got out of the hospital yesterday and so I decided to visit and drink coffee instead ;) i'm surprised I actually fell asleep at a reasonable hour last night.

Eats: iced coffee, water, turkey pita, yogurt, granola, nuts, baked fish, rice and a few tiny potatoes I picked out of the garden. I roasted them in the oven with some red pepper and dill weed and they were so good!

I took Dog to the vet and she has been put back on anti-biotics again, this time for two weeks. The vet seemed a little confused as to why the infection came back so i'm hoping it isn't a sign of something else going on with her :(

Tonight is supposed to be a ball night, but we don't have a game. We are such a hardcore team though, we're going to have ball pratice instead of not doing anything LOL. It looks like it'll be a warm one today!

Even the wall push ups seem to get you all over, my calves, arms and shoulders especially. Good for you legcramps. Glad Dog is back on the antibiotics. Your team is doing so well I can understand not wanting to miss out on a game, I bet your practices are fierce!:)

I've done my initial test, which was 13 pushups, and day 1 (45 pushups). I hope to do day 2 after work today!

Feeling better today, hopefully will make it to bootcamp tonight.

To finish the story of my trip: We decided to head home early to give us the extra day of rest. And that extra day? Felt like it didn't even happen, that's how quickly it went by. Kind of like Saturday was this weekend; woke up in the morning, whoosh and it was suddenly Sunday.

Ugh. Having some GI issues for the last couple of days and it's been hard to motivate myself to do anything but wallow in my misery and stay close to a bathroom.

Also? Dog is sick again. She had a sneezing fit when I took her to the park this morning, and one of her eyes is really swollen. It was actually kind of scary to watch; it looked like the whole right side of her face was seizuring. Her lymphnodes, which were draining really well when she was on the antibiotic, are starting to swell again as well.

I tend to jump to conclusions but i'm thinking she's really sick. This can't happen! I need Dog. She pulled me through a tough time in my life and I just need her to stick around for a very long time.

Sorry i'm such a downer today. I'm sure things will get better soon.

I hope you both get to feeling better--not fun. I so get you with your feelings about Dog--she's young (I think?) and otherwise in good health, so I hope it turns out to be nothing big. I had quite the scare with my dog last year when I least needed it, but she's been in good health since!

Another good day yesterday, although I strayed in the afternoon at work and grabbed a slice of poppyseed cake because I was all out of yogurt. I went out with my family for dinner and we went to a pizza place (my family loves them some pizza) and I got a spinach and feta individual size with some chicken on it and shared it with Mom. All other foods were the same as the day before. Routine? Repetition? Yes, Please!

I walked Dog for exercise yesterday, and Walking Buddy and I went for a walk in the morning as well. Maybe three miles total for the day.

I'm trying to motivate myself to do something today, but I seriously feel drained. I know I just need to force myself, so eventually I will get myself up and outside to cut the grass and weed the garden. Maybe an episode (or two) of So You Think You Can Dance first ;)

On the last day of the festival, Travel Buddy and I slept in a little and I woke up to the sun pounding its way into my tent. We ate breakfast (same as Saturday), showered, and then I took my nieces and their friends to watch some performances. In the afternoon we had our last volunteer shift which went well. We were disappointed to learn that the festival continues well into Sunday evening; we assumed it would be over by 5pm, the end of our work shift. So we had a hard decision to make: stay for the night stage and the volunteer party? or head home and make it back in time for an extra day of rest before work?

What would YOU do?

Yesterday was good; chocolate milk, turkey pita, yogurt and granola, naan pizza, mozza and crackers. I didn't end up taking Dog for a walk because my Grandma just got back from her surgery so I visited with her for a bit instead. The rest of the evening was spent lazing around. I feel so unaccomplished when i'm lazy :(

So Friday afternoon after chatting it up with our hostess we headed out to the festival site and got our tents set up. We picked a sweet spot at the top of the hill, not realizing at the time how long and difficult the walks up and down were going to be. We were able to meet my sister in law quickly before our first volunteer shift started. That shift was easy-peasy! We basically just sat around for 3.5 hours, meeting other volunteers and a few bands. So much fun! We had a basic dinner of burgers and ceasar salad, and when our shift was over we headed to the main stage to watch the evening performances. I received some pretty sweet bear hugs from my family and was all smiles most of the night. Until we had to walk back up the hill for bedtime. Holy hills, batman! My calves were burning halfway up; it was a struggle to find the energy to get all the way up the hill! We had a small snack of cheese, crackers and veggies, then headed to bed. It was so cold! During the day Friday it was very cool and threatening rain, so the evening air wasn't much better.

Saturday morning I was up bright and early and made myself an iced coffee while I waited for Travel Buddy to wake up. We headed for breakfast - eggs, oatmeal with fruit and custard, and hashbrowns - and then showered and got ready for the day. It was beautiful, the sun was shining, and my nieces were excited to spend the whole day with me! We danced, toured, and relaxed in our lawn chairs while listening to some great music. My fav bands for the weekend were Dry Bones and Crow Quill Night Owls. Some very interesting bands and musical equipment - we saw harps, fiddles, washboards, pots, all kinds of things! Saturday evening we had another volunteer shift of 4 hours and this one was way more exciting than the prior shift. We got to meet tons of performers and even chatted with a few who had some time to kill - what an awesome experience! I say if you get a chance to volunteer at a music festival - do it! And make sure you're put into a department where you'll get to meet a lot of interesting people ;) We met one guy from the Crowl Quill band who wore a top hat and had a long braided beard and a waxed moustache. He was cool.

Saturday for dinner we had rice, beef stew and salad and we snacked on yogurt and cheese and crackers. My tent was much warmer on Saturday night and I had a good sleep even though I had to get up in the middle of the night and walk all the way to the bottom of the hill to hit up the bathrooms. We didn't run at all while we were gone - lots of exercise going up and down that hill!

I know how hills feel. Band camp you have to walk like a mile to eat and then back to our cabin and then another to where we march on the practice field. Thanks<3 Have a great weekend =)
