legcramps - Friday Dec 13, 2019

Thank goodness it's Friday. I believe this week must have had 16 days in it...

Coaching tonight; I hope it will feel good to get back at it.

Weekend plans: head to city to pick up the last of the Christmas gifts - the ones for BF and I; workout; spend time with my best friend and my godson, watch him open up our gifts and then we'll go on a twinkle tour of the Christmas lights.

Last night and into this morning I am feeling extra weepy at short intervals. It's wierd how I felt fine for the last two days, and now I feel all weepy and stuff. Grief is such a strange monster.

happy-1 on 12/14/2019:
I'm right there with you.

Donkey on 12/14/2019:
Oh so true - this week was ad infinitum... yuck.

Grief doesn't always follow a straight, logical path. Give yourself time to feel what you need to feel.

There are times when I'm very stoic, and other times where I seem to feel every sadness in the world.

horn_of_plenty on 12/14/2019:
Donkey has good advice above....

You got thru this week and now you can refresh yourself and see people meaningful to you on the weekend :-)

Horn_of_plenty on 12/15/2019:
I hope your weekend is going well :)

Two more days until the weekend; just needing to remind myself that time still goes on.

I'm trying to wrap up things at work this week so that when i'm off things can still run fairly smoothly here. There are a lot of Christmas-type things happening at work next week, and i'm sad to miss it but at the same time it's a huge relief to not have to deal with the logistics and planning of it all! There - I said it out loud! LOL

Mom will be staying with me for Christmas this year, and I have mixed feelings about it. I know I should be glad to have the extra time with her, but it's really hard for me. I never did have a great relationship with her. It's like we are distant relatives that have to put up with each other at certain times of the year. I'm sure it will be fine, just feeling some anxiety over it. Anxiety seems to be the norm for me these days.

I also need to start working out again. I've been really sporadic this month, and I really wanted to push it hard to the end of the year. This whole week has been one giant rest day, LOL. Tomorrow I have to coach, so I will get in a workout then. And hopefully on the weekend also. Once I get back at it, it will be easy to keep it up.

BearCountryGG on 12/12/2019:
Your first sentence says it all...

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/12/2019:
BCGG says it right ;)....

I hope you can get back to your schedule soon. you've had a lot going on so i guess it's normal to feel how you do. try to breathe and work thru it.

Donkey on 12/13/2019:
I can relate. Living in a state of anxiety is no fun. But you are right, time still goes on. Most of our fears lie in anticipation.

Hi everyone,

We got called to Grandma's bedside this weekend, and she passed early Monday morning. Once she started to decline, it happened very quickly. No more suffering.

Just got back to work today; no coaching for me until Friday; funeral services will be late next week. Then Christmas. I'm so sad.

innerpeace on 12/10/2019:
Heartbreaking news. I hope you can find comfort in your memories. Prayers for understanding and strength for you during this difficult time.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/10/2019:
I am sorry to hear about your Grandma's passing. At least she isn't suffering again. My condolences to you and your family <3

Donkey on 12/11/2019:
I'm so sorry for your loss. (((hugs)))

happy-1 on 12/14/2019:
Hugs. I'm so sorry for your loss. There's no acceptable age or situation to lose an integral part of your life.

It was a nice night out with the girls; it does remind me to be grateful to have a close group of friends that I can call on if I ever need help.

I ordered the spring rolls - it was the only thing on the menu that might have been vegan! And I don't really think it was 100% vegan, but we're going to have to be ok with that LOL. This way of eating is really teaching me a lot about freeing my thinking and not being so restrictive about food. You'd think it would have the opposite effect - that I would freak out more when I don't have any immediate vegan options - but i've been able to shrug it off mostly, and use it as my :20 opportunity. Today I feel once the vegan trial period is over (whenever that may be), I might stick to it, maybe more like 70:30, but I don't mind it at all.

BF is coming tonight so that we can get a head start on the drive to the city tomorrow; we both took the day off work so we could get some things done in the city. It will be a busy day, and then I have to be back at the gym by 5:00 p.m. to coach. But i'm looking forward to the day off!

BearCountryGG on 12/05/2019:
Your 80/20 rule makes a lot of sense.........Glad you had fun with your friends last night....Love spring rolls!!!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/05/2019:
yes, thankfully it's not 100% vegan which could not only be difficult, but slightly unhealthy if not done with supplementing sometimes since you can def miss some nutrition eating that way. so, your way is a way i support more than straight 100% vegan honestly!

Donkey on 12/06/2019:
Enjoy the day off!!!

I'm so inspired by your vegan adventure. Thank you for posting about this.

happy-1 on 12/07/2019:
I like your 80/20 rule.

Mom called out of the blue last night, she had a birthday party to attend but she called a few minutes before she had to leave. I was so surprised by the call that I forgot all the things I had to tell her LOL.

I have mostly just gift cards left to buy people for Christmas. It's easier that way, especially with most of my family so far away - it gets so expensive to send gifts. I ordered a medical sheepskin for Grandma, and Mom and my brother will go in on the gift with me so it works out to around $35 each for something that I think she will really enjoy having.

The first gift exchange happens tonight with my girlfriends. There are six of us; I got three girls Christmas scarves and the other two cute bracelets.

Looks like it might be day two of rest for me today. Once again, not upset about it. I think I am getting a cold, so just trying to law low and stay under the radar until it passes.

BearCountryGG on 12/04/2019:
Gift cards are great!!

happy-1 on 12/04/2019:
Aaaaaaaw... look at you with the holiday spirit. You might make me like holidays yet!

Donkey on 12/05/2019:
You are so far ahead of me in the Christmas shopping... oh boy...

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/05/2019:
Very nice gifts all around, especially the medical gift for your grandma :)

Just plugging along...

Worked, coached, and worked out yesterday. Got home around 9:30 p.m., had supper, and checked emails, messages, etc. and in bed at 11:00 p.m. Mom wants to talk, but we can't find a night that is free for both of us for even half an hour. She is almost as busy as I am. Oh well, it will work out eventually. At least we can still text LOL!

I am not sure I am going to go to bootcamp tonight. It is the start of my reboot week in my workout program, so it might be prudent to take it easy on the hiit cardio. Maybe i'll bike instead. Or maybe I am just being lazy.

A full list of things to do today at work, so i'd better get at it! Have a great day everyone!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/03/2019:
Boy is your family busy! go you! you inspire me and i LOVE to hear about everything you do. an object or person in motion stays in motion!

I've been loving the bike, it goes so fast even a full half hour is speed on the bike. so easy to do, now i see also why Donkey loves it!

BearCountryGG on 12/03/2019:
Wow...your Mom and you are really busy!!!

One goal is to continue with my workout program; I am at the end of week 4 right now. Week 5 I will drop the weights significantly, and then Week 6 will start adding it back in and try to go higher.

We will also continue eating vegan 80:20. I don't feel as if I can really give a complete review yet of our vegan eating, so at least another month and then we'll re-evaluate.

I was sick over the weekend with TOM. I knew it was coming, because the week leading up to it I had been feeling a little lot low. Hormones are crazy. TOM this time was really painful. I feel like we still accomplished SO MUCH this weekend, even though I was so sick. We didn't end up going to the city to shop because the roads weren't great. So we did a little shopping at home, BF fixed the kitchen sink that was leaking, we put up all my Christmas decorations and lights, cleaned and did laundry, and I even got in a workout yesterday.

Sure didn't feel like getting up this morning though! But I did anyways LOL.

Coaching tonight after work, and then hopefully SLEEP. I might also be getting a head cold.

BearCountryGG on 12/02/2019:
YEAH...for getting up when you don't want to......good job!

happy-1 on 12/02/2019:
Zinc!!! It really works for a cold.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/02/2019:
Good idea to get up and get PAID! right! I will finally do that, too, tomorrow. After 5 weeks OUT. good to get back, glad i have a place to work tomorrow. Maybe i should think what i'll wear!

Keep keeping us in the look on your vegan program and training programs. I love to hear all about it.

Thoughtful for BF to help you with your Christmas decor and lights!!! woohoo let the holiday season begin!

legcramps on 12/02/2019:
Even one of his kids and their girlfriend came over to help decorate the tree. It was a nice change from me doing it all myself!

Donkey on 12/03/2019:
I think you'll need at least 3 months with the vegan goal to give it a fair evaluation.

TOM woes - I feel your pain! (Literally)

2.  AT LEAST two rest days per week

THURSDAY - rest day, vegan 100%

I managed to get some housework done, so that's good. House looks a little cleaner now. Coaching tonight and then BF and his daughter will be near the gym i'm coaching at; not sure if they are coming to my place tonight or not. I think we want to drive into the city tomorrow and do some Day After Black Friday shopping LOL.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/29/2019:
yeah, it's still all about the sales between now and Cyber Monday.

good to hear you cleaned...i'm so scared with these guinea pigs of the mess that is bound to come...LOL...but really!

happy-1 on 11/29/2019:
Good job sticking to habits during the holiday! What's on your shopping list?

legcramps on 12/02/2019:
Wasn't hard, not a holiday for me! (I'm in Canada)

BearCountryGG on 11/30/2019:
A clean house always makes me feel good.

Donkey on 11/30/2019:
I love a clean house. That's all I'm saying. My son doesn't understand why it's so important to me. It's not that cleanliness in itself is important, but rather, the dirtiness - I'm not talking untidy, I'm talking dirty - attacks my inner well-being. And I'm not really a germaphobe by any means. (I live by the 5-second rule, test the boundaries with food recalls and expiration dates, etc. - yes, I live on the wild side.)

legcramps on 12/02/2019:
YES, this.

Donkey on 11/30/2019:
I was observing on TV with the stabbing in the Netherlands over the weekend, as you do not celebrate American Thanksgiving, do you all in Canada still do Black Friday shopping?

legcramps on 12/02/2019:
Yes we do; i'm sure the reason is because we went shopping in the US on Black Friday rather than doing all our Christmas shopping in Canada, and the Canadian government decided the economy needed our money to stay in Canada so they gave us Black Friday too ;)

Horn_of_plenty on 12/01/2019:
everyone likes a good deal...i could use a small handheld vaccuum, but, then again, i could just use the vaccuum i already own, the snake / hose part. so, yeah, i'll wait on that...!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/01/2019:
regarding steady state biking from an earlier entry, that's why i like that bike too....it's less intense but i still warm up my body from doing it.

1.  Eat vegan 80:20

2.  AT LEAST two rest days per week

Didn't manage to get anything done after my work meeting last night; just went home, ate, and took a bath. I looked at the dishes, and that's about as far as I got LOL.

I checked my calendar just now and realized that I have my second rest day scheduled for today, so that lifted my spirits exponentially. I was thinking I would have to get on the bike trainer, and i'm starting to really dislike that thing believe it or not. Not necessarily the trainer itself, but more the seat on my bike. Ouchies. BF and I are thinking of going in together for a spin bike as a christmas gift to ourselves; if we do, it will be much healthier for the bum and sitz bone area.

WEDNESDAY - worked late, rest day, vegan 100%

I went a little heavy on the bread yesterday. BF found vegan margarine and boy I didn't realize how much I missed bread and butter until I tried it! I wish he'd never found this stuff! Oh well, let it roll off.

BearCountryGG on 11/28/2019:
Many years a go a friend who had lost a lot of weight went to a street fair where they bought a loaf of artesian bread and a jar of homemade jam to go with it...your comment reminded me of her.......she knew instantly that she could never do that again....

Donkey on 11/28/2019:
Ooo ouch! I think that's why I like my recumbent bikes so much - big seats for this wide butt, LOL! A spin bike would serve you well! Or could you change out the seat in your current bike to a wider model for training indoors?

Oh bread... I can do without it but oh how I miss it.

Horn_of_plenty on 11/29/2019:
Def important to be comfortable with your exercise bike! great idea for the spin bike. i have a cheap recumbent bike which i like. i haven't gotten to use it as i've been with my parents and my legs were previously healing. but when i get back to my own apt, i'll use it - and the stepper i have by the same company. it's good if you are interested! the are cheaper brands, easy to assemble, and work well. i'm really talking if you want a stepper, not the bike since you will be getting a far better bike than i have. mine is very minimalist.

yeah, it's so easy to go heavy on a food in the moment. i did it yesterday then realized it wasn't worth it, but, i didn't do too badly, got the tastes in of the pie and i'm good for a long while. i don't love to eat sweets (heavy ones) a lot because they just don't match my calories intake well. but when i do have some, i remember it was tasty but not worth it really and i don't have it again for while or i resort to making my own lower sugar types which i never feel bad about having!

happy-1 on 11/29/2019:
Sounds like a new bike seat no matter what.

Bread and butter... yum. My downfall too!

The month sure goes by a lot faster when you don't have staggering goals to achieve...

TUESDAY - bootcamp, vegan 100%

Rest day today, and evening work meeting to boot. Yay. Might even have time to get some housework done tonight.

horn_of_plenty on 11/27/2019:
The one Thing about not exercising is room for other things .... I’m doing legs tonight !

Donkey on 11/28/2019:
That's funny about the month being quicker with no goals - oops, staggering goals.

During the week, when I spend most of my day working, all I want to do is exercise when I get home: ride the resistance bike, walk on the treadmill, yoga, weight train - yes, even weight training. The thing is, after dinner, I only have about 2 hours left before I have to start getting ready for bed. :-(
