Wallyball tonight - 2 hours

Got to sleep in today until 10am, which felt really nice - I think I slept for 10 hours! When I woke up I immediately got ready for the day and headed out to do my grocery shopping. I picked up an environmentally friendly 'green' bag to use as my food bag for work (again, got the idea from a fellow dd'r) and I love it - it's just what I envisioned my food bag would look like!! Anyhow, started off the day with a pickled egg for breakfast and a slice of walnut bread. Not the best choice, and the pickled egg??? Well, let's just say one of my dogs liked the pickled egg WAY more than I did!!! I had a black forest ham sandwich for lunch and just polished off eight strawberries for my afternoon snack. I got my hair cut, made a trip to the bank, and soon will be off to tan at the salon my friend works at. We're going on an all-inclusive vacation in February, so I need to start getting ready for it. In more ways than one, i'm sure you can imagine.

If you haven't already guessed, I threw out the 'no bread in the house' theory that I had. It just wasn't working. I was finding other ways to eat it - and that meant that I was eating white bread too, not the whole wheat that I usually buy. So I bought whole wheat bread today and 'plan' to use it for lunch sandwiches. We'll see how much I can control myself around it!

After tanning I need to take off to the city for that game of Wallyball i've been so excited to play. Two hours of that and the drive back home will probably leave me exhausted, but i'd sure like to take the dogs for one more walk this weekend because I have a feeling I might not be feeling well Saturday and Sunday. It feels like my period is coming, and it's always so much fun that I end up lying in a ball on the floor, crying my eyes out!! And, it will suck even more now that my boyfriend isn't here to comfort me!

So that's the plan for today. I don't feel sore yet from all the stuff I did yesterday, but I probably will tomorrow.

Total exercise for January - 11 hours

HEY! good exercise...Wallyball sounds interesting! i hope you enjoy it!

you are so right on about the bread. this way you will have the control back. pmsing is the time to have the right foods around you.

I had a great exercise day...and the food part wasn't so terrible either. I ate chicken and rice (leftovers from yesterday) for dinner when I got home from work, then ran some errands downtown and took the dogs for a walk. When I got home from the walk I had just enough time to warm up the car and get my bags ready for kickboxing class. The class was awesome tonight - I wish they were all like this! We did circuit training, and boy did we train. Again and again...and again!! We finished with some light sparring, which was a highlight of the class because it was so much fun! 15 minutes after class I was on my way to the gym to workout with a friend. I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes and jogged for 10 minutes, then biked for 15 minutes and then did some leg weights.

I probably won't be able to get out of bed tomorrow!! Good thing I have the day off! __________________________________________________________________________

I found a package of Pad Thai to go with my chicken breast at lunchtime - I ate 1/2 the package. My tummy is bulging and bloated and I can tell that i've eaten white noodles. Bad idea. Blugh.

Ooooo, I forgot to tell you - I am playing Wallyball on Friday night! Yay! First game in a very long time! Two hours of heavy workout! Watch out HoP, here come those exercise hours!!!! __________________________________________________________________________

The walk last night was exactly what my friend needed. She told me afterwards that she felt ten times better than before and she was more focused about her priorities now. I'm glad I could help her - she's done so much for me in the past that it felt good to be able to give back a little bit.

I didn't quite make it to my goal of 3 litres of water yesterday, but I got close - 2.5 litres. Technically, i'm 1 out of 3 in reaching my goals, but figuratively speaking, i'd say i'm more like 2 out of 3 since the only thing I didn't consciously work on was getting to the gym!

I started out my day earlier again this morning - so again I stopped to grab a coffee before work. Then, a friend came by to go for a morning coffee break with me and I decided to have another coffee. That's two for today and probably two too many!! Workingit - I will try your apple and water idea after tomorrow, when I can stock my fridge again! The good thing about the coffee break this morning is that we both reiterated to each other that we WILL be going to kickboxing class tonight, no matter what. I am glad she is so dedicated to going today, otherwise I myself might decide not to go...as terrible as that sounds, it's always better to have a workout buddy. So class starts at 8pm tonight, which means if i'm really efficient and keep my butt moving, I might be able to squeeze in a walk with the dogs before class. I made rice and chicken yesterday for dinner, and there are plenty of leftovers for today so there's no real excuse to not be able to walk the dogs. I guess we'll see what happens, but that's the plan. I love making plans in the morning (sarcasm) for when I get home from work - they never work out perfectly because by the time I get home i'm dead tired from working all day! Oh well. I'm blabbing.

Would you believe after all the trouble I had with my modem - the service tech replaced it and when I got home from work that day it wasn't working again!! Oy!! It's working now, but i'm just waiting for the day when that stupid 'ready' light starts flashing at me again. Odd how my life is centering right now around the times when I can use my computer...

Got water and a fruit cup at work this morning so I should be good until lunchtime. I still have an extra chicken breast in the fridge too, so i'll eat that for lunch, although it's not much. Maybe I can find something to go with it - but I need to make sure I don't eat yesterday's leftovers because then i'll have nothing for dinner tonight. I should make a list of things to do today, but I don't want to seem overly obsessed, so I won't.

I know what you mean about making plans for after work and somehow they never turn out quite right...the other day my husband and I planned to FINALLY take down our Christmas lights, but by the time I got home, he was all ready and I just plopped down on the couch and told him I couldn't do it!

You asked me about my food bag...in the evenings, I pack a complete lunch, planned snacks, and throw in a few extras (an extra fruit, veggie, protein, and carb...for example, apple, celery, almonds, and granola bar) on top of my planned food. That way, if I do want to eat more, I don't have to rely on all the junk food here at work, because I have extra food of my own. I almost never eat it all, but it's nice to have, and I don't feel nearly as guilty when I stray from my food plan knowing that it's still healthy and I know exactly what's in it. This also helps me limit what I eat during the day...I can't eat things if they're not in the bag!

workingit2 on 01/10/2008:
Aww that is so nice that your friend enjoyed the walk. And how cool to go play wallyball! YAY! You are doing so well, keep up the great work! And have a very nice evening =)

vvvzena2 on 01/10/2008:
lol I know how it feels when your computer acts up. Mine's 6 years old, and I find myself begging it to work just one mor time, please. I'll probably have to invest in a new one for too long. I'm still on dial-up, so fell for me! lol

Thank you for sharing your cemetary story. I love the really old ones. There's just something about them.

Sounds like you're doing a really good job! You should be proud of yourself. And it's great that you were able to help your friend. It makes you feel good when you give back to those who help you the most. Anyway, hope you have a good day!

biscottibody59 on 01/11/2008:
The kickboxing sounds like a blast--I'd have to join a rinky-dink gym for an astronomical price or drive more than I'd like to do that--oh well--maybe one day!

You're doing great!

I called a friend to see if she wanted to go to the gym with me today and it turns out she was having a very aweful day and didn't feel like doing much at all. I was almost out the door to take the dogs for a walk and I decided to ask her to come along. The company would be great and besides, having an extra set of hands with two dogs makes it a lot easier as well. She didn't seem to want to at first, but after a while got into the spirit. We walked for an hour, but it means i'll miss the gym workout tonight because we talked for a while afterwards. It's okay. At least I did something.

*UPDATE* - I stopped in at the grocery store on my way home at lunchtime today and picked up a roast chicken sandwich on 60%ww bread...mmmn..bread...but it took me 20 minutes to do that which left a grand total of 10 minutes to let the dogs out and keep an eye on them and eat my sandwich standing up!! With my shoes and scarf still on and the car still running! But I guess it was worth it. I don't know. The jury is still out on that decision.

I used my last $5 to buy that sandwich today, lol. I have one more day and night to go before I will be able to buy myself proper groceries because I get paid on Friday! I guess i'm making some rice today for dinner and I think i've got a chicken breast in the fridge to go with it. I sound pathetic, don't I?!!

I have also decided that I will attend the kickboxing class on Thursday night because I can give the instructor a cheque and he won't be able to cash it until I have money in my account anyways. See, I think about things sometimes...

So, you've already heard that my day was pretty bad yesterday, so i'm not going to reiterate here. This entry will be all about today and about fresh starts and new beginnings and goals and wants and needs and prides and prejudices. Okay, maybe not that last part.

I woke up a little earlier than usual today (an extra ten minutes earlier) and was able to stop on my way to work and buy myself a mocha from Robin's Donuts. I knew I was going to need it because I had a late night last night (but we won't get into that) and I was dragging my butt this morning. As soon as I woke up, I grabbed a fruit cup out of the cupboard, a spoon from the cutlery drawer, and went to work on a plethora of peaches, pineapples, cherries and other varieties of fruit. You would think I wouldn't be hungry after the major binge....oh, right, new day. Anyhow, filled a bottle of water, grabbed another fruit cup for morning snack at work, and headed off.

I don't have any prepared food in the house for lunch today. I can't even make myself a tuna sandwich because I don't have any bread. No milk, no juice - the only thing I can think of actually eating is dry Kashi cereal. It doesn't sound too appetizing, does it?! Maybe i'll stop off for a sandwich somewhere, but I don't have a lot of time for lunch - just a half hour. I would stay and eat here at work, but I have to let the dogs out for a bathroom break at lunchtime. Life's pretty rough, huh?!

Today I WILL walk the dogs right after work; I WILL go to the gym tonight; and I WILL drink 3 litres of water. If I could sign underneath this statement, I would. Just to motivate me that much more to actually do it.

Total exercise for January - 6 hours

I've said it and heard a hundred times... each day is a new start! If we let what happened yesterday get the best of us today, then we can't reach our full potential.

You WILL do everything you plan to do today....

TheMother on 01/09/2008:
You sound really energized today despite having a late night. Love your plan of action. I'm sure you'll carry it out. Have a super day! Thanks for your comments.

caz on 01/09/2008:
A fresh start today is great. You sound energised and up for the challenge today so good luck!!

workingit2 on 01/09/2008:
Did you know that eating an apple and drinking two glasses of water in the morning is a better pick-me-up than a caffinated beverage? I didn't know that either until I overheard it on the news one day. I tried it, it actually works. Who knew lol.

Have a great day and walk the dogs! They can't walk themselves and unlike us, they always love a good walk no matter how lousy their day was lol.

dearerdiarist on 01/09/2008:
You are sounding strong in the face of a few adversities here and there. It is a day to day thing, that's for sure. It is an extra challenge when we are out of this or that item that gets us through. It's been so cold where I am lately that I have been heating my cold cereal with warm milk and cinnamon. And it is a little more appealing than cold. See you tomorrow!

CharlieAngel on 01/09/2008:
You WILL do this. I can feel your determination and will power jumping off the page. Stay strong and don't let what happened yesterday impede your progress today. Be Blessed!

CritterMom on 01/09/2008:
Good for you! Clean slate, and get right back to it.

workingit2 on 01/09/2008:
You'll have to try that chicken sandwich again sometime when you aren't rushed...I bet it was very tasty! lol

Congrats on getting those things done and have a wonderful evening!

CritterMom on 01/10/2008:
That walk is probably JUST what she needed. Good for you, for asking her to go with you. I wish I could find a "gym buddy". I just rejoined the "Y", so maybe I'll meet someone there I can call on to go with me.

borntocry on 01/10/2008:
Hi legcramps! Thanks for your comment. You should have just left the long rambling one you wrote earlier! HoP leaves me comments like that all the time, heh. And don't worry, I will never take anything you say the wrong way. We're friends so I know that anything you tell me is for my own good!

I do know what you mean about losing focus. I was looking back on my New Year's resolutions last year and the first one was to be less obsessed with food. Well, I think I did keep that resolution, but unfortunately the side-effect was that I ended up gaining back some of the weight I had lost. So now I too have come to the conclusion that a little bit of obsession (i.e. "focus") isn't really such a bad thing.

*UPDATE*...Well, crap. I didn't accomplish too much tonight. It dawned on me that it was January and I hadn't paid for my Thai Chi and kickboxing classes for January yet, and I don't have enough money to pay for it - so I did not go to class tonight. And I won't be able to go on thursday either because I won't get paid until Friday. I guess I lost sight of that in between...well...everything else. That really sucks, and unfortunately I let it get the best of me tonight and instead of doing something else like going to the gym I opted instead to do nothing but sit on the computer and play games. Sometimes I wish we didn't have a computer...or television...or, like, bread...**sigh** Anyways, I wouldn't be honest if I didn't tell everyone what I did tonight. So there you go. I plan to pull up my socks tomorrow and make up for it, but I always say that. I should attempt to actually do the things I say i'm going to do. I'm in a bad mood, but it's just a bad mood - i'll be fine by tomorrow morning. The sad part is that my dogs aren't going to get that walk in tonight. I puttered my night away playing Sims. Someone scold me, I need a good talking to already!!!

So I took my audio book along with me to the gym last night, but unfortunately was unable to play any of it due to:

a) I had a friend there with me, so didn't want to seem rude by plugging my ears if she wanted to talk - which she did.

b) The freakin music in the joint was so loud that I could barely hear myself think, nevermind hear any other sound that might be playing in my ear.

I'm all for good music, and i'm partially deaf too (okay, not clinically), so i'm normally okay with loud music. But last night, it was loud. Way too loud. LOUD.

I walked the treadmill for about 20 minutes, then jogged for the next 20, off and on. I think I did about 15 minutes of jogging in total. Felt good! After the treadmill I went on the recumbant bike for 15 minutes. I was going to do some weights last night, but I really wasn't in the mood. Maybe the loud music discouraged me. Anyhow, I got back home by 7:30pm and wasn't sure what to do for the rest of the night. Usually I don't go to the gym until later on at night, so just kind of fall into bed afterwards. So I puttered on the computer a bit, then watched a movie. It was a nice night and I feel pretty good today because of it.

A computer repair tech is coming to my house at lunchtime today to fix my modem. What a headache this modem is! For the last few months, it's been working intermittently and it's driving me insane! I want to go online when it's convenient for ME, for goodness' sake!! So I called the company I signed up through, and they just treated me like crap. First of all, I called them and then the modem started working, so the guy on the phone told me to just monitor it. So I did. And the next time it quit working, I called them again and they pretty much told me what I could do to try to get it back up and to do that from now on. But why should I have to keep rebooting the modem everytime it shuts down? Why shouldn't I have a proper modem that actually works 95% of the time?! So I called them again when it wasn't working, frustrated and ready to tear a strip down someone's back. So they're sending someone out to replace it. This guy phoned me this morning and I told him that it's been working for the last couple of days. He asked if I wanted to just monitor it and I blew up!!! Lol, it's just too exasperating right now! I said that's what i'd been doing for the last few months, and he laughed and said 'ok, i'll come by at lunchtime and take a look'. I hope he replaces it.

My Thai Chi and Kickboxing classes start tonight. Depending on how i'm feeling afterwards I might try to take the dogs for a walk. It'll have to be with both of them though, 'cause i'd never fit in enough time to take them separately. Geez, I have a lot to say today, don't I?!!

Will update later with exercise hours - Go HoP!

Total exercise for January: 5 hours.

CharlieAngel on 01/08/2008:
Sounds like you got a great cardio work-out last night. I completely understand the modem problem, I just went through it myself. Lucky for us we live in an area, that once I call them, and they determine that there is a problem with the modem, I can just run over to the local store and get it replaced, just have to bring the old one in and have a confirmation number.

Yes...I finally broke down and hired a trainer. I really believe that he is the key to my success. I don't want to let him down and not show up cause then he doesn't get paid for the session. And he is a real motivator. He makes me feel like I am really accomplishing something and works me hard.

Have fun at Thai Chi and Kickboxing. That is a class that I would be interested in. Have a great day!

jmarie60 on 01/08/2008:
My gym has loud music too... and it's terrible. Try talking to a manager to see if they can tone it down a bit... especially if it's distracting or discouraging.

Have a great day and I hope everything with your modem gets worked out!

workingit2 on 01/08/2008:
I just pulled out my Tai Chi dvd this morning! It is harder than folks realize lol. I don't like super loud music either, it makes it difficult for me to concentrate on what I am supposed to be doing. Comcast gave me a bad modem once and did the same thing. Turns out all they had to do was to replace it and all was well. I thought that was crazy to have gone through all that mess just for them to replace it and it was fixed. They knew there was a problem with the modem...but I guess they were waiting for a new shipment of modems to replace the batch that was poorly manufactured. Crazy!

Take care and have fun tonight in your classes!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/08/2008:
hehe, Go Legcramps!!!! I was supposed to go to yoga tonight...i may still go even though I'm really full. I guess my lack of sleep caught up with me and I had a mini-binge.

It is so frustrating when things don't work - my microwave went out - oh my goodness! I never realized how much I used it! I can't get the new one until the 18th - special color, built in, etc.... Well, I went to work and got the counter top one that I brought in a few years ago! Now I am lost at work!

I hope you enjoy your classes tonight.

fritters on 01/09/2008:
You sound pretty disapointed that you aren't able to go to your classes - don't blame you. Maybe there is something else you can do for exercise - walk? Jog? At least they don't cost!

legcramps - Monday Jan 07, 2008

**UPDATE** - I updated the total hours for January 'cause I went to the gym tonight for an hour and, well, I want instant gratification!

So I managed to take the little puppy out for a walk as well - we were gone for an hour (it's just so much easier to walk her), and I was cruising along listening to my new book. Then the batteries died. I swear, these were brand new batteries. Is it really THAT cold outside?!!! Anyways, from now on i'll have to remember to bring along an extra set of batteries. Geez, if it's not one thing it's another!!

Other than being incredibly hungry today, i'm doing pretty well. I did cave and drink a flavored coffee this afternoon, but I honestly wasn't sure how I was going to get through the last two hours of work. My snacks were really good today, although maybe a bit high in sodium. All in all, I can't complain too much...

I watched a movie last night with a friend of mine who's trying to keep me company while my boyfriend is gone. It was called 'In the Land of Women'. It was such a screwed up movie! Have any of you seen it? This kid goes to his grandma's house where he proceeds to first seduce the next door neighbour, then the neighbour's daughter!!! Craziness! Honest, I have such bad luck picking movies.

I received a text message last night asking if I wanted to go to the gym later today, so I guess it will be the 'first gym day of 2008'. It's sort of exciting, really...

Total exercise for January - 5 hours

Workingit2 on 01/07/2008:
I swear I'm thinking I should volunteer to walk dogs for folks..I would love the company of a dog while walking!

Great job on the exercise hours. I had heard that movie was pretty lame..glad I didn't rent it! My sister sells these "Private Quarters" sheets and stuff..OMG they are sooooo freaking expensive!!Even the clearance stuff is costly! It is definately hard to find inexpensive sheets and blankets!

Have a wonderful night and keep up the great work!

dearerdiarist on 01/07/2008:
Very good, you crazy little exerciser. I just can't stand it... CANNOT STAND IT! I don't know what is going to help me turn the corner. I did exercise today again, but I want to be an adult about it and just roll with it.... There are so many benefits besides weight loss and I have hopes of getting in on some of that. What is Tim Horton's, Canada girl?

shadetree on 01/07/2008:
Nothing wrong with a little instant gratification!

RYC: I keep forgetting to print out the couch to 5k plan when I'm at work, and i don't have a working printer at home, but I am writing myself a note to do that tomorrow! As for the 5k - there are two that my son always runs around here, but they don't have their 2008 dates or forms out yet...I'm going to go online and look for others that might be coming up once it thaws (there's one in two weeks, but those people are just crazy - running through the ice and snow- no thank you!) but I am definitely going to do it this year!

fritters on 01/07/2008:
The memory keepers daughter is really good. I hope you are enjoying it - when your batteries hold out for you!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/07/2008:
Haha! Sure, I accept your challenge. I am really in a challenge with myself though! But this challenge with you will serve as a reminder to do the very best I can and not slack off like I was last week! ummm, I do not think I will reach the same amount of hours as last month because i was on vacation then and had more time for exercise! But, I'm working on a good month! yeah!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/07/2008:
nice on your hours, btw!

kyrin on 01/08/2008:
GOod job with your exercise hours. Doesn't it feel grand to see those numbers adding up? Way to go!

Another dog-walker! They do help the time/miles go by quicker. I hadn't thought to bring along a book on tape. Maybe I'll try that soon.

legcramps - Sunday Jan 06, 2008

I did a little shopping today and managed to find a cheap Queen size sheet set for our new bed - $37.00 on sale (that's CDN). I think that's pretty good for a 280 thread count. And another flat sheet for $4.45 CDN. Then I went to the bookstore and purchased Slash's new book for my boyfriend (i'll have to send it to him I guess), and an Audio book for myself. I got "The Memory Keeper's Daughter". I thought it would motivate me to walk more, and it did!

Since I was out during lunch, I went through Tim Horton's and bought a plain buttered bagel (geez, there's that blasted bread again) and a cafe mocha. When I got back home I grabbed a snack of 7 fat free fruit gummies (100 cals), threw the audio cds into my jacket pocket, grabbed my cd player and headed out the door for a walk. I also took Chewy with me. It was alright and I was really getting into the book, although it's not the same as reading! So, one dog down and one to go! I decided to walk them separately (got the idea from a fellow dd'er), and I still have the little one left to walk. I think i'll do that now, change the batteries in my cd player and listen to more of the book. By the time I get home it'll be time for dinner!

I'm very relaxed today and I feel accomplished. I wonder how long it will last?!!

Total exercise for January - 3 hrs

shadetree on 01/06/2008:
I buy bags of whole wheat mini-bagels (I think there's 12 in a bag) and then I stick them in the freezer. I get out one a night to thaw for the next day - that way I don't eat three or four of them....

I read about your dog pouting - do you ever get a chance to see "Dog Whisperer" - I think it's on the National Geographic channel. Cesar accomplishes some major things with dogs - he has such insight on why they do the things they do!

Great job on the walking! You should feel good about that!

maryk on 01/06/2008:
The Memory Keeper's Daughter is a fantastic book...enjoy! Do you read while walking (on a treadmill I assume)? I read while I run on the treadmill; the bigger the hardcover book, the better, so it stays put! I'm rereading the Harry Potter series, not only because I loved it the first time through, but they're the best books for running on the treadmill with!

timeforachange on 01/06/2008:
That's a really good deal on that bed-set you got! Wish I could find something like that around where I live. Hmmm I might have to look into getting that book, it sounds good from what everyone is saying. Great job with walking the dogs, and you did well with food too, snacks weren't that bad. Keep it up! Have a great day tomorrow!

biscottibody59 on 01/07/2008:

Good going getting out for your walk--for me it's just so much mind over matter alot of the time!

Hi there legcramps! Glad to see you are doing so well. So you got through the holiday season all right, then?!

Thanks for the comment you left me. You're right, I really should sign up for the half-marathon. If the thought of all that potentially wasted money doesn't motivate me, what will? I think the next deadline is on the 20th of January. After that, the registration fee goes up again. It's already, like, $50. So I can't miss this one!

The dogs and I went for a much needed/required walk last night, took about an hour and a half in total. I had to stop a couple of times for our big dog, Chewbacca, so that he could sniff around or lay down on the ground and pout. He was pouting because he was on the leash almost the entire time. My boyfriend doesn't ever leave Chewbacca on his leash, but I do because he's just too big of a dog to let loose - I can't control him. So he was pouting a bit, but he'll get over it! I hope eventually he will learn to walk beside me without having to pull on his leash all the time, although it IS a great workout for the arms!!!

My eating sucks. I am starting fresh today. I went to get groceries (mostly because I was out of bread because I ate it all) and decided NOT to buy any bread. So the house is sans bread at the moment. And I bought a lot of fruit for snacks. All I seem to want to do is snack! I won't question it though, it's better than wanting five course meals all the time!!!

I am busy cleaning house and feeling lonely because my boyfriend is off working again. He might be gone for three months this time! It's really boring without him here. Today, i'm really craving some company. Maybe i'll phone a friend later for coffee or something.

I guess I have a lot to say tonight because i'm so lonely and bored. Sorry guys!

My regular routine starts next week! Yippee!!!

Total exercise for January: 1.5 hours

hi legcramps, i am new member cushy. i hear you about the lonely and bread thing. I am single and always need to make my own fun for weekends. this is ok but it does make random, boredom eating all too easy. I am only on day 5 of dieting so i am still withdrawing from my beloved sugar and diet coke substances, but after i get through that stage the thing i crave the most is bread. anythign bread. hard!

CharlieAngel on 01/05/2008:
I totally get the dog walking thing...my little chihuahua also wants to stop and sniff all the time but I still consider it better than sitting on the couch and not doing anything. Being lonely is a real diet challenge...after my hubby passed I gained about 25 pounds from constantly stuffing myself full to ease the empty feelings...but now I am just trying to get healthy for myself. On Sundays after my workout, I go to Borders and treat myself to my favorite coffee and just browse. I am learning to like my own company. Take care of yourself. Have a good weekend.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/05/2008:
that was the reason for my overeating too...i think i was a bit lonely.

thanks for your comments today...they helped me because i knew you knew how i felt and it helped to have a reality check.

workingit2 on 01/05/2008:
LOL about the dog laying down and pouting, I can see it clearly LOL We'd have dogs at the shelter who were strays that weren't used to leads and they would spin around in circles trying to take a look at what was around their neck..and they'd do the same thing..pout and sulk and lay down lol. Gotta love dogs, they are honest with their feelings LOL

As far as not seeing the boyfriend much, I know how you feel. It sucks!

kyrin on 01/06/2008:
Good for you...breadless at the moment. Sometimes that's all it takes to realize that you are okay without it. When I re-introduce bread to the kitchen, I often just go ahead and put the loaf into the freezer. That way, a loaf will last without getting moldy--since it takes so long for me to eat it by myself. Plus, it's harder to eat on a whim if I have to thaw a slice first. LOL

Way to go with your dog walking! ...The boyfriend will be back before you know it. Gone for 3 months? Just think how terrific you'll look by then!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year's. Gosh, it's been busy around here. I can hardly wait for February, when a friend and I are going to hit up the all-inclusive resort beaches and take a load off for a week. It will honestly be the best rest i've had in a long time.

Anyways, I had a rotten start to the New Year - I was sick, terribly sick. I must've gotten a flu of some type just before Christmas, and eventually that flu turned into a nasty cold. I couldn't speak for a few days even. It didn't stop me from going skiing though, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much, huh?!!

So I haven't had any exercise to log so far this month because i'm waiting to get over this cold. It's congestion in my chest now, and I just know if I workout then i'll probably choke on my phlegm. I've been working and sleeping, working and sleeping. As soon as I get home from work, I get into my p.j's and into bed. Yes, i've been needing some rest from the holidays! Today I feel ten times better than last week, and I might even try a walk tonight with the dogs. I'm always optimistic about what I can do.

Eating has been decent though not exceptional. As usual, I have my bouts with bread products and I think this one has lasted a couple of months now. I think it's time to kick it.

Getting back to the normal routine next week. Yay!

biscottibody59 on 01/04/2008:
Hey there--Happy New Year! Getting sleep should help to get you healed from all that--have a good walk!

workingit2 on 01/04/2008:
Happy New Year! Oh goodness, you've had a rough time of it! Glad to read that you are feeling better and that you have a nice vacation coming up! Take care =)

Moody2 on 01/04/2008:
Sorry to hear that you are sick, but glad to hear that you are feeling better than you were! Sounds like you didn't let it keep you down too much!!

Sounds like fun plans for February!! woohoo!!

CritterMom on 01/04/2008:
Hope you're feeling better soon. Hey, you can count that skiing as exercise!

Walking the dogs is always a good thing. I feel better, and so do they, after we've had our walk.

Horn_Of_Plenty on 01/04/2008:
i also had a bout with the grain/bread/pasta/bad carb products that lasted more than a couple of months! In fact, mine lasted from september through the third week of december. After being on vacation for a week and a couple days, i have been refreshed and am doing well! :)

feel better and thanks for your understanding on my journal entry yesterday. It's good to know someone else out there sympathizes.

greengirl on 01/04/2008:
Hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds yucky with the phlegm and all !!

Still doing well on the exercise, but it's only been a few days since my last entry. I've made a date with a friend to hit the gym today after work for an hour, so that's great too. Mondays are usually harder to get to the gym because there usually aren't too many other friends who want to go or will go when I can go. I might even have another date later tonight for the gym with another friend. Believe me, I won't pass it up, especially with the mood i've been in - exercise is the best way to keep things off my mind!

Eating is still rocky, I just can't quite get it. I switched many moons ago to whole wheat bread, but I now realize that bread in and of itself is hazardous! I can't stop eating it! I'll eat just bread! Nothing else, just slices and slices of bread. Seems i'm just navigating my vices from one type of food to the next. Pretty soon there won't be any food in the house (except for vegetables and fruits of which I do not eat enough). I hope a pandemic doesn't strike - i'd be s&*t out of luck!

Total Exercise so far for December - 8 hours

borntocry on 12/11/2007:
Yeah, same here - in fact wholewheat bread is worse for me because I prefer it, so I tend to eat even more of it. They say whole grains are supposed to fill you up, but I haven't really noticed that at all!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/12/2007:
i also love bread to the point of simply eating it slice for slice. you, me, and BTC should be banned from bread!

legcramps - Friday Dec 07, 2007

It's been pretty busy here recently, work is crazy and my boyfriend is working away from home so is not around to help take care of the house and the dogs. For whatever reason, I am finding that mondays to fridays go by in the blink of an eye but the weekends go even faster. It's hard to believe it's been more than a year (almost a year and a half) since taking this new position on here at work. It feels more like a few months.

My supervisor is definitely leaving within the next couple of weeks and they will begin to orientate and train a new person for the position. I've met one man today that is a candidate for the position and am aware of a couple others who already work for the organization that have also been chosen as candidates. It will be a time-consuming and stressful few weeks for me (as i'm sure it will also be for the successful candidate) and i'm not looking forward to it although I won't say the change won't be good. It's just the added work that won't be good!

I've been fairly religious about working out on average five days/week. Some days are gym workouts, some are kickboxing and tai chi, and others are walks with the dogs. As I said before, it's not relieving my anxiety about life, but I think that's just the phase that i'm in right now which, when I think about it, is not even half as bad as these phases usually are!

Eating. That's something I still need to work on, but at least i've cut out soft ice cream and most cheeses from my diet. It's a start, and those were the two main ingredients that were making my life a living hell anyways.

Total exercise: 6 hours

workingit2 on 12/07/2007:
Congrats on cutting out a couple of things that were affecting you negatively in the food department. And it is a very good thing that you are still working out, even if it doesn't feel like it is relieving stress...I would imagine you'd be a lot more harried if you weren't releasing some of those negative hormones and replacing them with the feel-goods that come from working out! Keep up the great work!

borntocry on 12/08/2007:
Well, well! Sounds like you are doing a little better than before. Keep up with the exercise - even if it isn't alleviating your anxiety, giving it up would probably add to it, and you don't need that!

Thanks for your comment. Yes, I am also worried that I might decide to just keep the Christmas cookies for myself. Perhaps I shouldn't taste any beforehand?

Horn_Of_Plenty on 12/08/2007:
i'm with BTC on her exercise comment! :) it's such a difference exercise makes... :)
