Weight: 132.5

Yesterday: 2pc toast with butter and 1c salad with dressing for lunch, 1c brown rice and 1c sausage with tomato sauce and cheese for dinner. 1 serving Spudz, 1c peach yogurt and 1c milk. 1 liter water.

Plan for today: I went out for breakfast with BF: 1pc toast with butter, 1c hashbrowns with ketchup, 1c scrambled eggs, 1c coffee with sugar. Lunch will be 1pc toast with butter and salad, and dinner will be some sort of sandwich I imagine. I will be at the luncheon for the funeral and i'm not sure what they're serving. Another liter of water today hopefully.

I jumped on the bike last night and held on for over 10 minutes. My chest was heaving pretty hard afterwards though, which only goes to show what can happen when you stop exercising over a very long course of time. My goal is to work up to 30 minutes, then 45. BF's moving my t.v. downstairs so that I have something to do while riding, instead of staring at the walls. I can now watch The Biggest Loser, and all those types of shows and get motivated while i'm working out. It's better than sitting on the couch watching these shows and telling myself over and over that I should start doing something and then never doing it. Yesterday I also washed dishes and cleaned up the kitchen a bit. BF took the movies back so I didn't have to do that. Today I want to accomplish: pay rent, bike, wash dishes. Not much, but the afternoon will be taken up with the funeral, and tonight there's a big party being put on in his honor that i'll be attending.

We took the dog out to a park road and got him to follow behind us as we drove through the park. It's about 3/4 of a mile, and Chewie made it the whole way without even beginning to pant, and he was going at least 3/4 speed the whole time! Oy, this dog is going to need a lot more exercise than we thought! We took him through it twice yesterday, hopefully twice more today. It's just too hard to take him for walks when it's this cold out. This way, neither of us have to spend too much time outside and he still gets his exercise. I'm still holding on to this cold, and today won't help it much. It was getting better, only a cough now at the worst of times.

Well that's it from me for now. Hopefully this week i'll have some time to do some commenting - i'm not ignoring anyone!!! I'm just extremely busy right now! Wait until my job is up in March, then i'll have all the time in the world to comment. I'll be leaving you guys pages and pages of writing! I bet you can't wait!!

Your food plan sounds great. I encourage you to try the 5 days no sugar. Runner's going to try it too, I think. I'm even considering taking white flour off, too. THat's a killer, though. I may have to build up to that one.

Regarding the exercise, you're right, you just have to slowly build yourself up and try to do a little more each time. You'll get there!! What did you think of "The Biggest Loser" finale? I was truly inspired. I didn't realize that girl lives 30 minutes from me. Small world.

Weight: 132.5

Well, I faced the music and weighed myself last night before bed. It could be worse...

Plan for today: I missed breakfast because my alarm didn't go off (still made it to work on time, though, yeehaw) so I grabbed a frappaccino which is 198cals. Lunch is either toast and salad or leftover rice with ketchup. Dinner is leftover pork chops and potatoes. Snacks today are low-cal Spuds. I don't know if that's what they're called, but that's what i'm calling them. shaped like fries, air-popped potatoe wedges in ranch flavor. I ate around 20 of them last night and was stuffed full. For a serving of 29 chips, it's 120cals.

Rabbit-Proof Fence is sort of a tear-jerker. There are a couple parts that are hard to watch. Some parts are weird - it's just a different kind of movie. I think if you're at all interested in the storyline, you'll really like the movie.

Friday I took down the tree and finished cleaning the bathroom. BF got a different fridge and stove, so we had to clean them out and set everything up on Friday. It looks so much better! The fridge we have now is way bigger than his old one - there's at least twice the space! I'm truly loving it, and the stove kicks heat out so quickly! I'll never go back to the old one! So Saturday I cleaned the kitchen and finished laundry, and Sunday after church I just picked up and cooked. I cooked sausage with home-made tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese on top, with brown rice cooked in low-fat chicken broth. It was so good I almost cried. BF cooked pork chops on Saturday, which were very good as well. We're just having a good cooking week so far!

Today I hope to accomplish - a dent in the mounds of work I have here, wash dishes tonight, 30 minutes on the bike, re-fill my water bottles and take movies back. It's too cold to take Chewie for a walk today. -30 celsius this morning without windchill. A couple days last week were up to -46 with windchill. I really need to head south. Can anyone suggest a wonderfully warm area?!

We could all ambush geevee in Miami! - I'm in PA here and we're climbing up to 66 on Thursday!! It's a mean, wicked teaser that will only last a day, though.

By the way, I watched Elf 4 times over the holidays and laughed more at each viewing. Laughter is great medicine!

You know you have to weigh yourself in the morning!!!

Weight: 129.5

I'm off tomorrow, and as usual, forgot to weigh. It'll have to wait until next week, which might be a good thing seeing as i'm not sure i've done so well this past week.

Yesterday: 1pc toast with butter, 1 bowl soup, 1 serving tacos, 1 orange, 1c couscous, 1/4c cooked carrots, 2oz roast pork and 1 liter of water.

Plan for today: 2pc toast with butter, 1 bowl soup, 2oz chicken breast, 1c couscous (I love this stuff), 1c cooked asparagus, 1 serving cheesies and 1 liter of water.

The water's going down slow because i've been really busy today at work (hence the late journal entry). There's been a death in my best friend's family and i'm somewhat downhearted today. I haven't had a close family member pass away on me (I thank God for that); it's so hard to imagine what they must be going through. I will be there for them tonight and will do everything in my power to soften their load over their time of grief.

Becca - Rabbit Proof Fence is about Aborigional people in Australia, so i'm assuming it isn't Canadian-made, but who knows. And I, too, am having a hard time getting through the Passion of Christ. I have to keep reminding myself that it's only one person's opinion of these detailed, descriptive events in the life of Christ. I've been contemplating this movie since it's arrival, and would not have given myself the opportunity to watch it however my brother sent it to me for Christmas, along with Rabbit Proof Fence. Thank goodness he also sent a less deeply thought-provoking Elf and Shrek II!!

I'm taking time today to think about the people i'm grateful are still in this world with me, and about those who are not. How many people that touch your life actually end up changing it, making you a different person than you were before? I am thankful he isn't in anymore pain and I am thankful that he had the time to say his goodbyes. Have a wonderful weekend my friends.

feeleebubs on 01/06/2005:
Rabbit Proof Fence you say??? Sounds interesting. I bet my mom would like it. Is it a tear jerker?

Yesterday: 3pc toast, 1 bowl soup (wasn't bad), 1c salad, 3oz pork roast, 1c cooked potatoes and carrots, 2 cheesecake cups, 1/2 liter of water, one serving tacos.

Plan for today: 2pc toast, 1 bowl soup, 2c salad, 2oz pork roast, 1 liter of water.

Yesterday I did two more loads of laundry and finally cleared off the steps. I am so relieved. I also did dishes and cleaned up the kitchen a bit. Still no exercise though. Someone told me yesterday that they thought I might have bronchitis. I have to see the doctor, but i'm putting it off because it seems so unnecessary (sp?). Although i'm dead tired at night and go to sleep really early (9:30pm last night), I still don't think i'm THAT sick. I tried watching the Passion of Christ last night but I was so tired I couldn't keep my eyes open. I did watch Rabbit Proof Fence - it was quite moving actually. Anyone ever seen it?

Today I want to accomplish: cleaning the bathroom, dishes, take things over to grandma's. I might have a meeting tonight, but hopefully I don't have to go to it. I need to get my butt downstairs and onto my bike tonight. I'll crawl if I have to.

SaneJane on 01/05/2005:
My fiance and I really liked Rabbit Proof Fence. If you liked that movie you might like to see Whale Rider.

Hi Legcramps!

You managed to maintain very well over the holidays. Good job!! If you think you might be sick, go to the Dr. so you can get healthy a.s.a.p. If you put it off, you could just drag the whole thing out longer.

I have The Passion on DVD but have been too chicken to watch it. I should have gone when it first came out - after all the testimonials, it kind of freaked me out (and still does).

I've never heard of "Rabbit Proof Fence" Is that a Canadian movie?

Yesterday: toast, egg salad sandwich, 1c fries, 1c coffee with 1t sugar, serving of tacos, serving orange juice and 8oz gingerale.

Plan for today: toast, soup, serving of tacos, 1L water.

Dishes were done yesterday, along with three loads of laundry (yippee, although we're not even close to done yet). I also picked up something that my grandma's been waiting for FOREVER, and dropped off some movie's for my mother. It was a productive day, but I didn't get any exercising done. I dread eating this soup I made for lunch - it's not very tasty. Have a good one!

Happy New Year everyone!

I was sick on Thursday last week, and i'm still quite sick but at least i'm able to make it to work now. So my New Year's was spent with a headache, but all in all it was still good. We went to a dance held in town, then to the bar afterwards. Not the usual crowds, but I guess everything changes.

I haven't had time to think about anything, much less the trip I want to take next year. I've spent the last few days feeling extremely sorry for myself. I'm pulling it all together as of today though. I've noticed that when my work situation is going well, my home life is usually all out of whack. Well, my work situation is starting to get messy, so i'm hoping that life at home will start to be a little more organized. One or the other, you know.

Can't talk much today as i'm very busy, but i'll try to get back here and comment later on. Have a wonderful day.

Meal plan: toast, soup, chicken with asparagus.

Yesterday went by very quickly. I remember having 2 pieces toast, 1c soup, 1c french fries, 2 little pieces of chocolate, then passing out on the couch. I was pretty tired and the whole day seemed to go by in a sort of haze. Oh, I had 1L of water and about 6oz wine.

I feel a little more awake today, but I could probably have slept for another few hours for sure. This morning i've had a piece of toast so far, and i'm working on 1/2 a liter of water. I hope to be able to finish the soup today, as long as my BF doesn't get into it. Other than that, i'm not sure what i'll have for dinner. There will be relatives down again today, so I might be forced (!) to eat homecooking. Of all the rotten luck, huh? Or should I say eh?

Anyhow, I purchased a digital camera with some money I received at Christmas, and i'm sure loving it! I still have some money leftover, so i'm going to try and look for a winter jacket. Either that, or pick up a few sweaters and maybe a pair of jeans. This year i'm not using the money I get for Christmas to pay my rent or my car insurance. This money is for me! I'll figure out how to pay my bills later.

As soon as January hits, it's time to start planning for a trip i'm taking in 2006. I can't wait to hit my travel book and make some final decisions!

Wow, what a weekend! It just flew by so fast that I can't remember a darn thing! I'm very much out of sorts this morning, being back at work and in this environment after four whole days off is a little dizzying to say the least. I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful christmas holiday and were able to spend time with your loved ones.

I ate little at each sitting, but there were a lot of sittings in each day - so I probably fared much the same as usual, with the exception of it being much more fatty and high calorie food. We'll see come Friday what the damage is. Hopefully for the next three days I work hard and faithfully. No New Year's resolutions for me! Forget it!

Have a great day today - stay strong!

TheMother on 12/28/2004:
I feel exactly the same way as you today. I, too, had 4 days off but it seems like it was just a regular two day weekend. Even though we had Christmas at home, everyday was so jam packed with things to do, I don't feel like I've had any time to relax. I indulged in things I don't normally eat (like potato chips with a little onion dip, a couple of small pieces of my homemade pumpkin pie, chocolate chip cookies and sugar cookies). I haven't been on the scale but plan on weighing on Friday morning. We have a New Year's Eve party Friday night and I'm hoping to be good. Will be glad when the holidays are over as nice as they were.

Happy Tuesday! Have a good day at work (I'm at work, too).

Well, somehow I made my way down this week. Probably from stress.

Yesterday was a good day, although I was foolishly stricken down by the temptations in the office. I ate 2pc toast, 2 oranges, and 2c chicken noodle soup with cooked carrots. That's the good news. The bad news is that I also had 6 pieces of chocolate and 2 servings of sour cream and onion chips. Legcramps, we need to work on this. I did drink my water though, and for that I am grateful.

This afternoon our office will be getting together with cake and chocolate galore. I will stuff myself full at lunchtime with soup and toast, and eat an orange during the celebrations. I've had enough chocolate to last me probably an entire lifetime. But at least for today.

I have so much going on today! BF can't find enough people to play volleyball tonight, so he's asked me to play and I can't say no. So I will be playing 1.5hrs tonight after dinner, then going to grandma's to visit relatives, then packing up for my trip to see my father tomorrow, then going out with friends, then hopefully there will be some 'us' time for BF and I. Tomorrow we're heading into the city in the morning to see one of BF's friends, then my father, then coming back to grandma's. On Christmas, we're going to a friend's place to drop off gifts and pick up ours (we do a gift exchange with my friend's family, but unfortunately this year there's no time for us to open gifts with them), then going out to BF's family's farm. After that, we should be home free for the rest of the night. BF wants to open gifts tomorrow night but i'm not sure if we'll have the time. On Sunday i'll be shopping with my mother and aunt. Monday will be my recovery day, and by God i'm going to need it!

I truly, truly wish all my friends here at diet diaries a very Merry Christmas. Please stay safe and strong throughout the holidays. I will be back on Tuesday. Have a great weekend!

TheMother on 12/23/2004:
You sure have a lot going on the next few days. Enjoy all of your visiting with family and friends. I enjoy reading your entries and appreciate your comments to me. I'm also taking Monday off, so I'll look for your update on Tuesday.

Merry Christmas fellow DDer!!!!

Merry Christmas!

That show was called "Pioneer Quest." I finally saw the last bit of it.

Yesterday went fairly well, actually. I've been in the failure mindset lately, which hasn't helped my efforts much, but I think having a fairly decent day yesterday will help me poke my head up out of this hole i've sunk into. I had an awful day at work, and ended up crying afterwards because of some little thing BF said to me. I was just so stressed out. We went for a long walk though, and that seemed to really help me thaw out.

Yesterday I had 2pc toast, grilled chicken, potatoes, tossed salad, and three mandarin oranges. I snuck in a piece of gum in the morning too. No water and no tea, but I didn't say I was perfect....

So today i'm working on making good choices and drinking some water. Slowly, i'll get back into it. Just in time for christmas. Have a great day to all of the diet diarists and to those who may not be updating but who are still 'checking up on the rest of us'!

biscottibody59 on 12/22/2004:
What did you think of the Swan? It's one show I haven't watched--actually it seems to be one of the more exploitative/unrealistic ones, sort of extreme makeover on steroids and then you have to compete to boot! (But as I said I don't feel I can judge since I haven't seen it.)

I already watch more crap than I think I should be watching. Since you're in Canada, you've probably seen the one where the 2 couples spend a full winter in "the frontier" or something like that. It was repeated on PBS (public broadcasting) here--I looked forward to seeing what was going to happen.

Anyway I hope you're feeling better today--keep up the good work!

TheMother on 12/22/2004:
Dear LC:

Thanks for your kind words in response to "kelly's" entry in my journal. To me, it sounds like the same person that was berating Sara Beth a while back. I'm choosing to ignore her comments and move forward. I do, however, appreciate your support as well as BisciottiBody's comments too. I don't know why people have to be so negative in a veiled attempt to appear to be offering help. Your food menu sounds very balanced and tasty. Taking a walk was a good decision because it not only helped you feel better emotionally but was good exercise. I take a brisk mini walk at lunch every day as long as the weather cooperates. Have a GREAT OP day!!!!

Take care,
