I finished the dumbbell program I started in the middle of September; it felt like it took FOREVER to finish the program. It was pretty difficult, especially the last 3 weeks because I tried to keep increasing my weight, but I can definitely feel the difference in my muscles from September to now. I am absolutely so much stronger. Now I can concentrate on the next program I want to do - which will be machines, leg press, and barbell work. I love the leg press, and i've been waiting FOREVER to do barbell stuff. I'm so excited that i've just gotta start tonight!
I tried to go to bed earlier last night but I ended up laying awake in bed waiting for bf. What the heck?! And then when he came to bed, he was snoring within minutes and I was still laying awake staring at the ceiling. So of course I am tired today, but it's Friday so I guess it's ok :)
I might nap after work today before bf gets here and we go to the gym, otherwise I will likely be a bit grumpy tonight, especially since we are waking up early tomorrow morning to head into the city and do some Christmas shopping. I really dislike crowds, so I know this will already be a test of my patience. Hopefully I won't be adding to the misery by not getting enough sleep tonight. I might even try taking melatonin, that's how desperate I am for sleep! I lost two pounds in the last week, and i'm sure it's because I haven't gotten the sleep I need to hold on to my muscle gains... not that i'm upset about the lost weight, but i'd rather to do it the right way, you know?
Ok, enough venting, geez! I sound like a grumpy old lady...

Still struggling with my sinuses, but I am functional so i'll just be happy about that and count my blessings. Really need a massage sometime soon; if only there was an hour here or there I could pull out of a hat! There never seems to be enough time for the lazy things like massages and television ;) LOL.
Dinner last night was absolutely stunning... baked salmon with all kinds of spices and seasonings, so delicious, with kale salad and basmati rice. We polished the whole fish off it was so good - I could have eaten that fish all week without getting sick of it. Looking forward to giving peppercorn steak a try sometime soon. The upside of having a boyfriend is that you start to cook a little better for yourself ;) not as many egg and toast with pb dinners for me anymore. Thankfully I haven't managed to gain any weight from all these elaborate meals; thank goodness I topped up on the gym visits as well as the dinners!

4 rest days in the last week. This cold is really getting the best of me, but it seems like it is getting better now. I know i've said that before and it came screaming back, but hopefully this time it's for real! It felt good to get back to the gym, and of course I always have fun when I go with bf.
I am feeling so tired today; I got something like 6 hours of sleep last night and that is just not enough for me to function like an adult LOL. I have a full day of work and then an evening meeting tonight before hitting the gym with a friend. Hopefully i'll make it. I'm guessing supper won't be anything too extravagant, if it's anything at all!

I tried to sweat out my cold on Saturday by doing all the cardio I could at the gym. I still absolutely have a sinus cold, but it has felt better ever since. If only my nose would stop running so much! Yikes! I could drown in all this mucus!
I jumped on the bike trainer this morning for 15 minutes; going to try and start doing this more often in the mornings. When bf stays overnight at my place during the week, he usually leaves around 6:00 am to head home, so it would give me 45 minutes to an hour to ride before having to get ready for work. This morning I only got in 15 minutes on the bike because bf wasn't here so I slept in ;) which I really needed. I have not been getting enough sleep and I think that is part of the reason why I am still sick with this cold.

I have been sick for FOUR days, this is day FIVE. I am so frustrated, it is the most annoying thing ever. I have not been able to go to the gym or get on the bike because my HEAD just HURTS so much and my sinuses are so congested that I squeak when I talk. My bf has been going to all these fun cardio classes all week long and I have had to stay at home and be sick. It has been a long week.
I think I will force myself onto the bike today after work. Maybe a little sweat will help. And if not, then I will have a temper tantrum in the safety of my own home.

I can see some very defining changes happening in my body. So much muscle gained over the last few months; I can definitely tell how much stronger my back, shoulders and arms are, and a lot more definition in my quads and hamstrings. I am so interested in getting into powerlifting, just because I think I might be good at it, but cycling is my #1 and I need to work towards being stronger on the bike so I can finish the 100 mile tour next summer. But still, there is a powerlifting class on Saturday that I just heard about, and i sooooooooo want to check it out...
Really looking forward to sleeping in this weekend. Next week is going to be long; a friend and I have memberships at a new gym so we are going to try that out starting Monday. That makes 3 gyms that I have memberships with now - and maybe the CrossFit gym if I decide I want to do the powerlifting classes on Saturdays. So THAT'S where my paycheck is going LOL.

Still working to get in a good mix of cardio and strength training. Feels like every single muscle hurts today; better try and gets lots of water in. I had the option of doing a cardio workout on the bike trainer this morning, but decided to rest my legs instead. Maybe after work today, or tomorrow morning. Not going to fuss over it. A rest day after those tough cardio classes might be welcomed more than trying to fit another workout in and really depleting my energy stores.

The day after I posted here, I went on a trip with bf to see my family. I've been struggling to get back into a routine ever since LOL. Gosh, trips always bring out the lazy in me... I want to sleep more, eat more, and move less. ALWAYS. Combatted it fairly well this time around though, pretty happy with how the trip went. Lots of good times!
Exercise as below; not too bad but can definitely see that I was trying hard to figure out a routine after getting back from my trip on Oct 1st.

Sept 24 - Hike 3.5 hours; Bike 2.5 hours; WOW 6 hours of exercise
Sept 26 - Hike 1 hour; gym session with bf

Sept 28 - Hike 1 hour; Bike 1/2 hour to the park with the kids; tried PARKOUR! pretty cool stuff
Sept 29 - Travel day; Hike 2.5 hours; went down a mountain on a coaster! pretty cool stuff also

I also finally set up my bike on the indoor trainer last night, with bf's help. Damn it is not easy to do. Regardless, it's ready to go and the plan is to get a few morning workouts in on it each week. Heading to bf's tonight so will 99% more than likely hit the gym for another session because apparently we live at the gym LOL.

Kind of a busy week; wasn't feeling great on Monday so took an extra rest day, then Wednesday I had an evening work meeting (completely exhausts me to go to these things). Yesterday's workout was harder than usual, but I persevered and took the heavy weights instead of copping out with the light weights ;)
Calories seem to be pretty consistent with where they need to be, so i'll stop counting after today. I don't need to obsess over it if i'm being consistent enough.
One problem though is possible allergies to foods i'm eating. I'm lactose intolerant, so I bloat and experience nausea for a couple days after i've eaten dairy. I had frozen yogurt on Sunday night, so was sick Monday and a little of Tuesday, but then when I ate supper on Tuesday (subway sub) I got sick almost immediately after eating. Not cool. And then yesterday I felt ill after eating a steak ceasar salad for supper, and today my stomach just doesn't feel great and all I had so far was soup and 1/2 a wrap with ham in it (it is mid-afternoon now). Contemplating getting tested for food allergies. I don't feel sick all the time, but it is often enough to start to concern me a bit. Is something else going on?

I took a rest day on Saturday and hung out with some friends at the hockey home opener, then golfed all day on Sunday in a tournament. I haven't been out golfing in at least two years; it sure took long enough to get warmed up and find my swing again, but once I did I had lots of fun. My longest drive was 180-ish yards, felt really good. Then we had a steak supper and I had frozen yogurt later for dessert. That meant I was up in the middle of the night for two hours with a no good, very bad stomach issue. Yuck. I am tired today, but that's what I get for eating foods that my body finds difficult to digest. I think it might be another rest day today to just relax and let my body recover a little.
