I went back to grandma's for dinner again yesterday; I think she wants to have birthday celebrations all week instead of just for one day!

We had chinese and I filled up mostly on rice and vegetables.

I was really tired again yesterday, so I didn't visit long. I really don't recall doing anything when I got home except for making plans to see a friend in a couple of weeks. So the dishes all still need to be washed, plus I added another cereal bowl to the fold. There are dishes EVERYWHERE!!!! It's driving me crazy, but apparently I am unable to do anything about it so I'm choosing to not see it when I walk into the kitchen. This isn't really working.

I hope workout buddies will be coming over tonight, as i've been slacking on my knee exercises for the past two days. I always do them when workout buddies are around.

I have nothing but leftovers to finish up. No complaints here! The last couple of weeks have really helped me stay under my food budget; unfortunately I might have to replace the shingles this year so whatever "budget" i'm keeping will be shot to h.e. double L in the near future. Why did I buy a house again?

Ok, so... cereal, coffee, leftovers for lunch, snack 100 cals thinsations, leftovers for dinner, do the dishes, drink an extra 1L water, workout, snack maybe.

There are other things too, like pickup the post as I haven't been there for three weeks i'm sure. But I will plan that later, when I have a more real feeling of how much I will actually be able to do today. I only just woke up two hours ago. Right now I think I can take on the world.

I too try your method of choosing not to see dishes when I walk into my kitchen from time to time... It works to a point and then if drives you over the edge, lol!! Hope you have a good day!!

Grandmothers and the rest of us, too, should strech out the birthday celebrations - I am all for it. This reminded me of something I daughter said about a family friend who had a week long birthday celebration every year - years ago when daughter was about 10 and we had been to a few dinner, cookouts and shopping trips with the friend in honor of her birthday - she said "She really knows how to wring all the fun she can out of a birthday"! I thought that was so funny!

Very sad news yesterday.

Dinner out went well; I decided on the chicken sandwich instead of pizza and only ate half because the chicken didn't look fully cooked. After dinner I hurried to the store and bought some groceries, hurried home and packed them away, then rushed over to grandma's for cake.

I was darn nearly sleeping standing up by the time I got home. Watched the news for awhile while having a bowl of cereal with almond milk, then went to bed.

Today's plan: smoothie, coffee, cafeteria sandwich, grandma's house for a visit, leftover chicken sandwich and rice, CLEAN KITCHEN, waxing. maybe some cereal as a snack.

My other plan today is to stop yawning. This one ain't working out so well.

Progress as of today: 17.5 lbs lost so far, only 7.5 lbs to go!

Yes the news is very sad... I lived in Boston and used to watch the race just a mile or so from the explosions. And yes, catch up on some sleep... always needed to keep your body running like a well oiled machine.

Such sad news. Friend who played violin at daughter's wedding lives and goes to school in Boston at BU. Spoke to his mother and she had FINALLY heard from him. He was watching the race from another location and was OK. Thank goodness. Cake with grandma sounds so good. I used to drop in and eat with my grandmother. She's been gone for about 19 years now. She was my best friend. I loved her so much. Hope you get good rest tonight and don't yawn through the day tomorrow!!

I wish weekends never ended ;) so glad I have some holiday time coming up where i'll be spending time doing nothing and travelling to see a friend. Can't wait!

I reached my quota for social interaction on the weekend with no problem (told you i'm not much of a social butterfly); eating wasn't great on Sunday but that's what lowering my inhibitions with vodka and cherry whiskey will do ;)

I have a big mess in the kitchen to clean up today, and a list of groceries to purchase. I am starting to panic because I am all out of orange juice for my breakfast smoothies, and the only other things in the fridge are some carrots and frozen perogies. A balanced meal that does not make. Good thing it's 10 for 10 days at the store! Fun Times!

I also have a dinner date with Grandma, Mom, and one of my favorite Aunt's. Looks like we'll be going for pizza, so i'll be ordering my go-to Feta and Spinach. And i'm excited to give Grandma a very pretty coral necklace for her birthday. I sure hope it fits.

So, to summarize my foods for today: breakfast smoothie, coffee, rice and steamed veggies for lunch (from the cafeteria), a yummy cinammon loaf for dessert (I couldn't help myself, it was begging me to eat it), and pizza for dinner. Oh, and birthday cake. Yikes.

The moral of the story for today: Do as I say, not as I do.

I love the way my knee is reacting to my new method of 'do nothing all day long and ice all evening'. For about 65% of the day I am walking as normally as anyone else who does not have any issues with their knees/legs/lower body mobility. <insert a BIG breath of RELIEF here>

Cross your fingers and toes that I don't run into a patch of ice on my way to the car after work (snowing AGAIN. really, Mother Nature?)

I had a very hard time getting to sleep last night (what the heck? why so random and... irritating?) and at one point actually got up and had a drink of water and watched Criminal Minds. I shouldn't have, because it was about teenagers who choke themselves and each other to get high. Tough to watch.

My foods were good, the tortilla pizza I made was actually kind of delicious and I had some steamed greens with it. Brought the leftovers for lunch today and I still have 1/2 a chicken breast to use up for dinner. I should make some whole grain pasta, i've been craving it for a few days now.

I got a little munchy into the evening and snacked on crunchy things. Also spent a lot of time daydreaming about Costco's snacks.

I made sure I had enough time to make myself my regular 1/2 banana, strawberries, orange juice and glutamine smoothie this morning. Need that to get me through the morning.

Really feeling like I haven't seen anyone in awhile. The social butterfly in me (which is, I admit, quite a tiny little thing) is feeling a little lonely, even though I had people over just two days ago. I'd like to host a dinner soon - I saw a great recipe from the Pioneer Woman for soup and I think it would be awesome in a toasted bread bowl! I should do this before the weather warms up and no one wants soup anymore.

Blabbering. It's because I have to use up my energy by writing instead of working out. I guess I could start talking more too, but my co-workers probably think I talk too much already.

Not sure of if you can swing it since you are on a budget(me as well) but when i am in the mood for some social intercourse at my pad, I volunteer to cook the main dishes and suggest everyone else to bring mixers,vino,side dishes... I have plenty of booze and random beer that people have left in my fridge..

I am so blathering!!! Hahahahaha sorry have a great weekend <3

I iced like a champion after work yesterday, and was true to my word and did not do any walking (except when I did the dishes and cleaned the kitchen) ALL evening. Proud of me?

My workout buddies came over and did their workout while I ate my dinner of baked chicken, brown rice and quinoa, and steamed green beans. While kinda sorta maybe sending daggers through my eyes at them. Apparently I missed my targets because they were pretty pumped up and happy while they were working out, and pretty well just ignored me. Probably because I wouldn't high-five them. LOL, it was a fun time in actuality, and I am exaggerating slightly about sending daggers and being crabby with them. In fact, I made them copy the crazy girl on the DVD a few times and that was hilarious. It felt good to give orders too ;)

I told them if i'm still not in walking shape for our next workout, we're doing a crazy belly-blasting DVD instead. And I shall sit and laugh the whole time. I'm sure they'll love that.

Leftovers for lunch today and I have to search for a recipe to incorporate the other baked chicken breast sitting in the fridge for dinner tonight. Maybe chicken and pasta but what kind of sauce? Hmmnnnn.

Decisions, decisions.

Wait! I've got it! Chicken and veggie pizza with a little BBQ sauce and mozza cheese, on a flour tortilla.

All set.

Awe, you awesome people with your awesome comments on my last entry almost made me cry real alligator tears this morning!

I had a rant all ready to go about my workout yesterday and the fact that I am not where I want to be, but now I think i'm just going to let it go. Because OhioRaven is right - I CAN rebuild, and become faster, better. My life shouldn't be about the end result but the effort I put in each and every day to become the person I visualize myself being. So i'll love myself instead. And give myself a break. And pat you guys on the back for helping me realize that i'm exactly where I need to be.

I heard through the grapevine that my alter-ego went to the store and bought some frozen yogurt yesterday. I think i'll treat myself to a serving later, while i'm icing a knee that has been through a lot lately.

And next time, I hope i'll stop myself before I start berating the body that has gotten me through the years so exceptionally well.

Thanks guys. I need you everyday. Just wanted you to know.

Good day yesterday...

Pulled out the treadmill and dusted it off... walked for 5 minutes (with help from the railings) and it seemed to go alright. It's getting much easier to walk; I expect a lot of improvement this week in that regard. Iced afterwards. Doesn't seem like much, but felt like great strides were being taken ;) pun intended.

Tonight I am going to give the stationary bike a whirl. Heehee, pun intended!

I made chicken enchilladas for dinner yesterday; pretty yummy and enough leftover for dinner tonight. Maybe with some wild rice and quinoa. Sad part is that I couldn't find whole grain tortillas and wasn't about to go searching after a full day at work.

Broke my sunglasses today. That should be my limit, so i'm sure the rest of the week will be great ;) sure, sure...

Getting pretty frustrated with all the snow; we're supposed to get even more on Thursday and Saturday :( I flat out refuse to do any more shovelling, so my visitors will probably be few and far between until it melts.

So happy to hear you are able to walk easier, it doesn't seem like a little-my bother in law just had knee surgery in November and yesterday he went for his first run and he is like a kid on Christmas!!! Ugghh, hope your snow goes away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ended up having a fantastic weekend, even though I broke down a couple times due to feeling sorry for myself. It happens.

Friday night after visiting a friend I just hung out at home and attempted to get to bed early so that I could put a full day of cleaning in on Saturday. I started to watch a few episodes of Criminal Minds, and for some reason I couldn't stop watching it. Went to bed around midnight.

Saturday was a late morning wake-up call, which was basically a sign of how the rest of the day would go. First, it snowed. I tried to ignore it. I took down all the curtains and threw them in the wash, wiped the walls and windowsills, washed the inside of the windows. Broke my mop. Looked at the snow. Cue breakdown #1. Managed to fix it by using pliers and elbow grease. Best not to ask for details or enquire about what this mop now looks like. I needed a Cascade Councillor.

Since I couldn't put my curtains outside to dry, I threw them into the dryer and started another load of wash. Did the dishes. Took a shower. Brought the curtains upstairs to iron. Forgot about them while getting lost in more episodes of Criminal Minds.

Fell asleep. Missed an ice skating recital and probably some after-recital drinks. Oh well.

Woke up nice and early on Sunday; noticed it was still snowing; ate a big breakfast, then got to work ironing those curtains.

Broke the iron.

Had to buy another one. No stores were open. Called Mom in a panic; she calmed me down and steered me in the direction of the one store that was open on Sundays. On the way back to my car, my knee started squabbling. Cue breakdown #2. IN PUBLIC.

Went home. Ironed like a madwoman since I had guests coming over in approx 15 minutes.

Chopped up veggies and snacks for guests. We watched movies. And I relaxed. After my guests left, I had a sandwich for dinner and watched another movie. Fell asleep.

The moral of the story is that, sometimes, just sometimes, I am happy that it's Monday and I can squirrel myself away in my office for eight hours straight. Yessir, life is good. And my house is pretty darn clean.

Yikes, thats a lot of cleaning issues! More support for my motto of let me just ignore the dirt, lol... Ive been know to have multiple breakdowns (sometimes in public) so I feel you there!!! Glad you found an open store... Have a great monday!!

Thanks! I usually ignore the dirt LOL but for some reason I had cleaning on my brain for the weekend - maybe to feel less guilty about not driving to see my Dad.

If people come over to my place to see a clean house I would rather not have them over. Girl you have to relax and take life a little more lightly. Life is to be enjoy if not all the time most of the time. We all have our breakdowns and nothing wrong with them. Have a great day.

I know it's Friday kids, but GOSH do I ever feel like complaining today! Holy Ornery Craptastic Bananas Batman.

Let's turn this frown upside down!

I had a nice evening, got a few things accomplished and had my workout buddies over. While they did a walking workout DVD, I completed my knee exercises and did a little walking-on-the-spot. Sure didn't like the energy of the DVD though - made me want to blast out a sweaty workout so I had to keep reminding myself that i'm not ready for that yet.

Dinner was really good - sausage with brown rice and cooked veggies. Same thing on the menu for today's dinner. Something to look forward to!

Breakfast - blueberry muffin, orange juice, mocha

Lunch - turkey sandwich, salad dressing, spinach

Snack - raw carrots, no dip

Dinner - sausage, brown rice, cooked veggies

Visiting a friend tonight and then i'm going to take it easy. I had planned on going into the city to visit Dad tomorrow, but it's SNOWING here today so i'm not sure that's going to happen. Too much opportunity for icy road conditions. So tomorrow might be a floor mopping and laundry day instead. Maybe i'll get started on spring cleaning by washing the curtains. Exciting!

I must have needed sleep because after I ate dinner yesterday I blacked out and didn't wake up until 4:30 this morning.

Also, my knee hurts. That really sucks.

But I didn't snack at all last night. LOL.

Guess I have to do all the things I wanted to do yesterday today instead. Good news - today I put my knee brace on and it's fitting well, so i'm hoping that means no more tensor wrap! It should be a lot easier to get around now.

Breakfast - oatmeal with pb and 1/2 banana, mocha

Lunch - turkey sandwich, salad dressing, spinach

Snack - raw carrots, no dip

Dinner - STILL have sausage; maybe brown rice and cooked veggies with it

Knee exercises, as much as I can do without pain.
