Grrr. I got myself into a bad mood yesterday, and I can't seem to get rid of it!

It started at work in the morning with an event that just exhausted me for whatever reason. Then I went home after work and did my half hour on the treadmill and some stretching. Then I went back to work for an evening meeting, but not before taking a phone call from Mom with regards to some family conflict, which made me late for the meeting.

The meeting was quick, but I walked out of there even more frustrated than i'd been before.

After the meeting, I rushed over to the rink to get tickets for a hockey game on Saturday; was unimpressed with the way they organized everything and with the long line ups; and got out of there after about 45 minutes of waiting for tickets I didn't even end up getting :(

When I got home again, I called certain family members and hashed things out. Why I am ALWAYS the freakin' middleman, I don't know. Then I went to Mom's to talk to her and pick up a package that came from my brother for Easter, which was incredibly thoughtful and sort of made my day although it didn't make me less upset about everything else!

So my disappointment rolled over into today, and when I had been at work for about an hour, I realized I missed a phone call from a friend early this morning. When I called her back, they told me that their dog had passed away last night from a heart attack. I dog-sat a few times and knew this dog wasn't doing so well, but I didn't realize she was so close to a heart attack. So that was shocking.

I am really just ready for this week to be over. I am going to sit with my friend for a bit after work today, then try to de-stress with another friend over dinner. After that, if I still have energy to do a workout, I will, but it is not the priority today. And I am just not in the mood to argue with myself.

I hope this weekend makes up for some of the craziness of the week!...gonna catch up on some of your past entries now, but it seems that your legs are doing a lil better which is great!

I love your new boots, too! and congrats on the 4 lb loss since February that is great! I would love an even 2 lb loss these days. like you, with decreased cardio, it is not so easy anymore to lose weight quickly. the weight just seems to stick with me...

I went for a walk outside on Monday after work, feeling like it would be a really good thing to try, since I haven't really "gone for a walk" outside aside from quick ten minute walks here and there.

It didn't go well. In just ten minutes, my shin pain flared up in my right leg, and then because I was ten minutes from home, by the time I managed to hobble home, shin pain flared up in my left leg as well. I sat for half an hour on the couch afterwards, alternating ice from shin to shin.

Yesterday I went for a 30 minute bike ride, which was fine except that my knees had been acting up all day at work, so I was really trying to not push and yet - I really wanted to push it, to feel like I was working out and actually doing something. It was a good ride, and when I got home I made sure to stretch out right away, and foam roll. My foam rolling technique might be getting slightly better.

Today's plan is the treadmill, and i'm sticking to this - no more outside walks again for awhile.

NEW SHOES! I am a shoe fanatic, and I found these Brekelle's online a few weeks ago. They came yesterday and i'm wearing them to work today - love 'em!

I remember when I was in physical therapy for my back, they recommended only walking on the treadmill, not outside, because if I had to stop, I could just hop off the treadmill versus having to turn around outside and having another distance to walk. So...good idea to stick to the treadmill for now. But I understand wanting to be outside. Warmer weather is so intoxicating after a long, cold winter. Love the shoes, by the way!

Great weekend

1. Yoga - Third attempt; kept it simple and this time no bruising or knee pain.

2. Foam rolling, heel lifts, stretching, more foam rolling, more heel lifts, etc. Feels like this is all i'm doing these days. Right now I suck at foam rolling, but i'm stubborn so I keep doing it.

3. Fundraiser BBQ!

4. Supper out with my bestie and my godson!

5. Cycling - Ahhhh! This was AWESOME! Extra exclamation point! 15 minutes and about 5k (or 3 miles). I was huffing and puffing and it felt SO GREAT.

6. Shopping! I bought some socks and an allan wrench for my bike 

Today I think will be a treadmill day. I may try to increase my pace. Or, if my achilles is bothering me, I may just hold back and take it easy. And do more foam rolling.

I am back from my week of holidays from work, and I had such a relaxing and good time away! I was sad to come back to work, but i'm making it through ;)

Quick summary of how i've been doing:

1. I am up to walking for 35 minutes on the treadmill, which is an AWESOME accomplishment so far. This is a good length of time walking, so after a week or so of this i'll try increasing my pace instead of increasing length of time.

2. Shin pain only once in the last two weeks. Another AWESOME accomplishment. I am thinking about making extra massage appointments outside of therapy for myofascial release.

3. I started yoga classes; i've gone to two so far and am debating backing out of this class. The last time I went, I came home with bruises all over my knee (??), my INJURED knee, which the physiotherapist did not think was cool. Not awesome. I guess you shouldn't be twisting and pulling on a torn MCL, huh? I also managed to strain the achilles tendon on my right leg. Gawd, I am SO AMAZING.

4. I bought myself a bike last week and will hopefully begin cycling as soon as the weather warms up a bit more. Starting with maybe 15 minutes. We'll see how that goes and hopefully work up from there. I would really like to bike back and forth to work in the summer.

5. I've lost pounds since mid-February. AWESOME. My eating is finally curbed, and i'm keeping a journal of foods eaten each day, which helps me tremendously to figure out if i'm really hungry or if i'm just bored / emotional / thirsty etc. I don't gauge progress by the scale, but I know i'm doing well because my pants are fitting better and I just have a general feeling of wellbeing.

Well, I am ready to call it a day. Fortunately, there is only ten minutes left in the workday =0)

Wednesday: dinner was soup and a sandwich, and a cookie at work, and I had a mocha at the hockey game.

Physiotherapy went well - recumbant bike for 17 minutes, then myofascial release and a few more things to add to the routine i'm working on with the treadmill and stretching, etc. Myofascial release was a lot less painful and therapist remarked that it felt a lot looser to her (which is a good thing). I am interested to see if I will encounter shin pain tonight with the treadmill. Knees still hurt, so lots of work still to do there. We briefly talked about transitioning into jumping and running, and I simply cannot wait for that =0) but I must have patience and do it the right way this time. Therapist is completely confident that I will get there with time!!! This was amazing news to hear.

Local team won their hockey game and now we're on to the next round of playoffs.

I plan to get the treadmill out of the way and then lay on my butt for the rest of the night and catch up on TV.

Breakfast - mocha x 2 (homemade so less cals); black coffee, 1/2 bagel with cream cheese

Lunch - 2/3 container layered salad, creamy dressing

Dinner - chicken, rice, vegetables, maybe some toast with this as very small portions leftover

Snacks - raw veggies, might try out my new cast iron skillet and make a cazookie with some vanilla froyo on top.

Things got a little crazy at work and now it's already lunchtime! I'll take a quick afternoon too, please :0)

Yesterday was busy. I had a doctor's appointment after work to get my shot (feeling way better today, thanks), then went to Grandma's for a quick visit. When I got home, I inhaled some chicken, rice and veggies, did my stretching and treadmilled for 25 minutes (no issues again). Then I had to quickly change and pick up a friend to go to the hockey game. We won! One more game and we're onto the next round :0)

After the hockey game, I went home and practised putting a tennis ball. It was actually fun, and I had no issues with my knee. I passed out around 11:30 and woke up this morning wanting to continue sleeping for another hour or so. I snacked on some triscuit crackers last night because I still felt hungry, likely from inhaling my dinner instead of enjoying it slowly.

Breakfast - mocha, 1/2 bagel with cream cheese

Lunch - chicken, rice, veggies; layered salad (1/3 container) with creamy dressing

Dinner - will be at a meeting; probably soup and a sandwich

Snacks - raw veggies, crackers, maybe one of the cookies from St. Patricks Day sitting on the counter at work

Physiotherapy appointment after work - my workout for today will likely come from here

One day down, three to go!

I went out for fast food yesterday instead of having my usual dinner. Thankfully, I didn't do any late-night snacking so I still came in at around the same calorie count for the day. I was just in one of those moods, man. Pouting big time because I am sick!

I took a nap after eating dinner, and was woken by a text from a friend to get us tickets for the hockey games tonight and tomorrow night. I hurried to get to the rink, and then had to stand in line for an hour and a half before I was able to get tickets! I almost turned around and went home when I saw the line - seriously, I was feeling rotten and had backed out on plans to visit a friend, and now I had to stand in an upright position for possibly hours at a time? But I persevered and made it through when a friend showed up and kept me company.

After all that, I went home and wanted to just collapse and fall asleep again, but I got on the treadmill instead and did my 25 minutes without any issues. Stretching - check. Kneeling - check, no issues. Throwing - check, no issues. It was a good day on the workout front, but I woke up with sore knees this morning.

Breakfast - mocha, 1/2 bagel with cream cheese

Lunch - chicken, rice, veggies

Dinner - same as lunch, or else I will be at Grandma's so whatever she makes

Snacks - raw veggies, crackers

Treadmill 25 minutes, stretching, kneeling, practise putting maybe

The weekend went by far too quickly, but the positive is that I have only four days of work and then i'm off for a little more than a week! Ahh, that will feel so good :O)

Friday - 20 minutes walking with no issues; stretching and kneeling. I felt some pain after kneeling for almost a full minute. Had frozen yogurt again, plus toast and peanut butter.

Saturday - 20 minutes walking with shin pain afterwards; stretching; practised throwing for a few minutes. I went to Grandma's and we got started on her taxes, and then I helped a friend set up for her baby's baptism. Once again, it was frozen yogurt and toast with peanut butter as my added 'shouldn't have had' snacks.

Sunday - I moved up to 25 minutes of walking and had slight shin pain after 20 minutes and did not stop. Geez. Stretched, did a full minute of kneeling with no issues. Went to the baptism for my Godchild, lunch afterwards, drank lots of coffee! After that, Mom and I went to the city where i found a new bag for work and we watched my 8 year old cousin play some hockey. His team won the tournament and he won a $10 iTunes card for getting the first goal :0) He was a real cutie and was pretty proud of himself :0) Good eats today, other than all the coffee.

Breakfast - mocha, 1/2 bagel with cream cheese

Lunch - chicken, rice, veggies

Dinner - chicken teriyaki bowl, which is my usual rice, chicken, veggies :0)

Snacks - raw veggies, crackers

Treadmill 25 minutes, stretching, either throwing or putting

I still feel crappy from TOM, still! Thank goodness my shot is happening tomorrow (depo).

LOL on the weekend, i was craving a second couple cups of coffee from dunkin donuts! lol, coffee is the best, isn't it!? but really, what i love, is iced coffee. i actually only drink the hot stuff at work lol.

sounds like your shin pain is doing better. as i sit here at work this morning, my left leg (the worse leg) is burning with a dull ache all morning just about. :( i think TOM is making everything a little bit worse, but i am eager to get this month done & be back at the doctor for a follow-up.

thanks for reading my Friday entry :) i am a good girl, but definitely break all rules time to time! haha :) how else should a single, who likes to be single, 31 year old behave!?

Another pretty normal and frustrating day yesterday; treadmilled for 20 minutes and had shin pain in my right leg after just 12 of those minutes

Did some stretching, then threw the tennis ball for about 10 minutes. I must admit that I vented some frustration while throwing the ball and probably threw too hard. In retrospect I should have been concerned that I might smash a hole in the wall.  Maybe I should start throwing in the garage?

I must learn to stop walking when I feel pain - it's that darn Type A - OCD kicking in, telling me I have to finish out my minutes. Must practice stopping.

Finished out the evening with knee pain as well, so obvs things could be going a lot better, but i'm still optimistic. Talked to the physiotherapist yesterday and she suggested a foam roller for some extra myofascial release in between therapy sessions. Since I already have a foam roller, I thought to give this a try and then my shin pain was too much to bear along with the roller. I'll give it a try some other time.

Added some froyo to my menu yesterday; it was certainly delicious but I don't think it alleviated my stomach woes. In fact, since i'm lactose-intolerant, it only added to them. Oh well, it's Friday!

Breakfast - mocha, 1/2 bagel with cream cheese, might have another coffee

Lunch - layered salad with creamy dressing (this salad from the cafeteria is delicious)

Dinner - might get take out today; this is to-be-decided

Snacks - crackers, mint tea that a co-worker bought for me (this stuff will make you dance, I swear)

Treadmill - how about I walk until I feel shin pain? Ok, deal.

Stretches, kneeling, maybe today i'll practice my putting

yeah, I'm Type A also & I find it dreadfully difficult to stop all exercise or to just do a minimum. But honestly, we are both in the same boat & I know you probably feel the same way? - which is that you are not going to lice life by just sitting around & doing the minimum forever. I hope we can both get better. The shots - cortisone shots? But those are only temporary right?? I also replied to your question on my wall :-D that is easier :)
