We had a nice new year's eve; went to a friend's place and played cards and dominoes until 2:00am. We had an extreme cold warning that night, they said it got down to minus 40 degrees with the windchill (that's celsius). It warmed up significantly yesterday, and they're even forecasting a high of above 2 degrees for tomorrow. What a difference.
I was still pretty sick yesterday, so I didn't go to the spin class I had booked. Instead, I stayed at home and looked after the dog while BF and his daughter went to the hockey game in the afternoon. Then I made a slow cooker pork roast and rice for supper for when they got back. AND when they got back, they left right away for home because BF wanted to say goodbye to his older daughter before she went back to school. So I will have lots of leftovers for this week.
According to my fitbit app, I got 9 hours of sleep last night. I needed it! I feel so much better today. I think I still need at least one more night of really good, deep sleep and then my body can get the recovery time it needs after the stress of the holidays and racing around to do all the things.
I am setting some intentions and goals for the new year. I intend to start getting more sleep (heading to bed at 9:30 or 10:00 instead of staying up with BF until 11 or 12), and I intend to analyze things far less often (this one will be tough but I know I can do it). Constantly thinking about how i'm feeling or how others are feeling about everything is just exhausting, and i'd much rather spend that time doing something more positive. My two fitness goals (so far) for the new year are making it safely and without injury to the FEMSPORT competition in August, and training with BF for a sprint distance triathlon. I'd like to add a bike ride to this, but I haven't decided what that will look like yet.

graindart on 01/02/2019:
Saw you mention the sprint distance triathlon, so went to read up on it a bit. While it's well beyond anything I could accomplish at present, it does seem like something that a normal person could work up to being able to complete. As compared to the full length triathlon that would take me a week to complete, plus a brief stay in the hospital......

legcramps on 01/02/2019:
It is, absolutely! I am a normal person! LOL

And - just for future information, there are a lot of triathlon events that also have something they call a Try-a-tri, which is less distance than a sprint or standard distance triathlon, and great for the beginner to ease their way into the sport :)

I couldn't even swim before I started training for my first Try-a-tri :)

BearCountryGG on 01/02/2019:
Hope you feel better today...lots of stuff going around.

legcramps on 01/02/2019:
Thank you! I think it may have been related to my period being so heavy.

horn_of_plenty on 01/02/2019:
That sounds sooo cold. i wonder what that is in Farenheiht! we also had very stinky weather of heavy rain. horrible for driving.

We also stayed up until around 2 and it was sooo fun! Also played games but fun internet games that we see on the TV and log into using our phones. He works in IT and it's always a blast!

Nice leftovers, sorry they didn't enjoy. but good for you for having easy meals this week. I'm also going to make use of some of my own leftovers. they are good so far! I froze corned beef end of November and it tasted great for lunch today!

Yeah, the extra sleep helps me tons with healing. whenever i'm on the verge of getting sick, i can tell because i become lethargic first, usually. and i start to crave endless hours of sleep! enjoy the extra rest, it'll def improve your fitness levels too.

legcramps on 01/02/2019:
I just looked it up and it's also minus 40 in fahrenheit!

Yeah, it will be good to have easy leftovers. I froze a few things from the last couple of weeks also, so I can dig into them if I get bored or lazy LOL (I still have a few cabbage rolls, so i'm looking forward to those).

I really believe in getting your sleep, and I can't help but think i've really compromised that part of my life for BF and I need to turn that around. I keep saying I need more sleep, now it's time to actually get it!

happy-1 on 01/02/2019:
good self care and rolling with the punches.

legcramps on 01/03/2019:

Donkey on 01/02/2019:
That sounds like a lovely New Year's Eve!

I did not have it on my list of goals (except to say relax more), but getting more sleep this year is definitely high on my priority list. Struggling just to get 7 hours a night -- usually I fall short of this benchmark, although my ratios of awake/light/REM/deep are properly proportionate.

legcramps on 01/03/2019:
I have good nights and bad nights; my ratios are proportionate as well, but I don't feel rested when I wake up in the morning, unless i've had over 8 hours of actual sleep.

I had a body scan done last week and it shows my BMR (basal metabolic rate) at 1,607 calories, which is the energy (calories) I need to consume each day simply to sustain body function. My lean body mass and skeletal muscle mass are also on the high end of my range, which is great to see. Good numbers! I'm hoping to decrease my fat mass in 2019 by a few percentages while sustaining the lean and muscle mass that I already have.

FUN FACT:  BMR increases when you increase your muscle mass. So lift some weights and you'll burn more calories!

I feel crappy today; it's my period. Now that i'm off the depo shot, my period has come back with a vengeance. I don't even think i'll make a full day of work today. It took almost six months, but it's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. I'll try to make the morning but I might end up going home for the afternoon.

Don't know yet what plans will be for tonight, but we got invited to a friend's place so I might push to do that - there will be other kids there around BF's daughter's age that she knows and likes to hang with. If we don't go, it will just be the three of us and I imagine that will be very boring for her, especially if i'm still feeling sick.

BearCountryGG on 12/31/2018:
The body scan sounds interesting....good info there.

graindart on 12/31/2018:
The body scan thing sounds pretty cool and is probably more accurate than plugging your numbers into various charts / calculators to get a guesstimate for BMR.

Donkey on 01/01/2019:
Happy New Year! Oh my, I cannot imagine having a menstrual cycle after not having one for 6 months. OUCH - Vengeance is right.

Horn_of_plenty on 01/01/2019:
that's exactly what i LOVE about lifting weights. you can def eat more because you DEF burn calories up a bit faster than non-weight lifters!

I hope you feel better. good news is this will pass <3

Sunday - Movie matinee with the kids  ?

It was a bit chaotic these last couple of days, and i've been missing my family a lot. I really wanted to make the eight hour drive by myself to see them but really, I didn't WANT to drive eight hours. I just want to see my family. You know?

I haven't gotten a lot of sleep, so i'm probably not making much sense. It's been one thing after another, and BF was stressing over the last couple of days trying to figure out how to make the most of the ONE day he got to spend with his kids all together (yesterday). I felt bad for him because young adults are selfish people sometimes and I know that because I was one of them once!

Other than all that, it was a very nice couple of days. There was a bit of an issue with sleeping arrangements last night, so I didn't get to bed as early as I wanted to. I ended up staying at BF's for the night, and I think I got about four hours of sleep total, so i'm gonna be dragging my bum today for sure.

Just got a message from a friend to go to spin class later tonight; I don't think my eyes will be open enough for that! LOL

BearCountryGG on 12/27/2018:
How many kids are there?

legcramps on 12/27/2018:
Four kids :)

(not all of the kids have the same mother, which is what makes it difficult to get them all together)

horn_of_plenty on 12/27/2018:
BF has a lotta kids! do they all get along with each other, him and you!?

loving all the check marks! looks like things are going smoothly for you <3...but busy! :)

8 hours is a LONG drive.

yes, 4 young adults are a handful!

me too, a bit low on the sleep has me ready for it tonight. lol, i think me and you could just write sleep diaries.

legcramps on 12/27/2018:
The three older ones get along well. The youngest one lives about ten hours away, so she doesn't see the others too much - which is why it was so important that they get to hang out together yesterday. Yet she wanted to spend the entire time at her grandpa's instead of her Dad's, so that was a little upsetting. Normally she would rather be with her Dad, so I think things are starting to change as she moves into the young adult phase :( Definitely a handful ;)

The night before last I didn't get much sleep either, and I had some really strange dreams too! I could have sworn that BF was swearing out loud in his sleep LOL, it was so weird, but I must have been dreaming it. I woke up a few times that night. I should start writing down my dreams, THAT would definitely be interesting :)))

legcramps on 12/27/2018:
And yes, they all get along with BF and me too - I don't involve myself in their issues because it's none of my business, and we all like it that way ;)

graindart on 12/27/2018:
I hear you on the driving hours. I'm at around 32 hours of driving in the past week to see the in-laws and other side trip while down here. Have another 20 or so hours return trip on Sat/Sun while pulling a trailer back. Why do I always forget how much road trips suck???? As soon as I get back home, I don't even want to see the inside of a car/truck for the month of January.

Donkey on 12/29/2018:
Oh I hear you on visiting family. This was the first year in a long time that I haven't seen anyone from my family over the holidays (starting with American Thanksgiving in November). HOWEVER, having said that, it was very noticeable to me how NICE it was not to have to travel. Maybe someday we'll all be closer together.

I believe I was able to kick that little cold to the curb over the weekend. Yes! I picked up a HUGE bottle of vitamin C so i've been taking that for about four days now and I think that's really helping (thanks HoP!); I also started taking B-12 again, as well as a multi-vitamin. I will try to stick to this routine as much as possible in the new year. I was up with sinus congestion this morning, but no sore throat and the congestion cleared up as soon as I started my morning routine.

As I thought, Saturday was a LONG day. I got in a fantastic workout though, I was really feeling it yesterday LOL - I even said to BF "why did I workout so hard on Saturday?" LOL, everything hurt! But it was a good hurt, and it felt really amazing to be able to get in a hard workout after all my back issues of late.

This week should go by quickly. I don't know if i'll work a full day today, it would be nice to take the afternoon off and take my time getting ready to head to BF's. We had a very nice weekend together.

Hope everyone is able to enjoy the next couple of days in whatever way you are planning! Be safe, get some rest, and enjoy your time with others!!

Merry Christmas :)

BearCountryGG on 12/24/2018:
Good job attacking that cold right away...no one needs to be loading up on antibiotics if it isn't necessary.....Merry Christmas!

Donkey on 12/24/2018:
So glad the congestion didn't settle in for a long stay! Stay healthy!!!! Merry Christmas!

Horn_of_plenty on 12/24/2018:
You are very welcome with the Vitamin C. Last year, around this time, a coworker of mine told me that he does this for himself and his kids all year long. I decided to start too, last year, and have continued the whole year. Sometimes, in the warmer months, i reduce vitamin C to every other day or so. But i continue to take it now all the time.

I'm glad you had a great workout on Saturday. It feels so good to do that!

I'm so glad you were able to spend time with your bf as i know you were missing him.

Some rest is definitely in store lately over here. Some cooking. Some time to do nice things that i can't do when i'm running around and busier with full work-weeks.

Merry Christmas to you, boyfriend, and your family! <3

Sunday - REST; finish any final preparations leading up to Christmas; Twinkle Tour

Made a couple of switches to the weekend so that I could still have a good portion of Sunday to rest and get ready for the holidays. Saturday will be a long day for sure!

Caught up on some sleep over the last couple of days (literally I think I napped both evenings for at least two hours), and i'm feeling good today except for another cold that has been creeping up on me slowly. Today I still have a sore throat, and now some nasal congestion. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse.

I am almost finished my chilli leftovers; it wasn't as good a batch as I usually make, but I have been picking away at it because I hate to waste food. And there's nothing especially WRONG with it. I think I am going to take out salmon to make for supper tonight; we haven't had fish for at least two weeks now and that's no good! Salmon with rice and cooked veggies sounds really good.

I am still taking the anti-inflammatories for my back; it's feeling way better, i'd say almost 100% again, but a tweak every now and then, so that's why i'll continue the prescription until it's finished and then see how it goes when I workout. So far, so good!

I miss BF; feeling lonely. Last I saw him was Tuesday.

BearCountryGG on 12/21/2018:
Are the spices in the chili irritating your throat?

Donkey on 12/22/2018:
I'm hoping that if you do indeed have a cold that perhaps it not be as long or as heavy as your previous bout. I just realized yesterday that this year is the first year that I have not been sick for Christmas in several years.

Horn_of_plenty on 12/23/2018:
I also hate to waste food. BCGG gave me some good advice to just freeze any food that's on it's 4th day in the fridge so it can be frozen for later used instead of possibly thrown out or getting you sick after it's been in the fridge too long...i want to save in my freezer more of what i make...maybe even my soups for when i come home from florida, for example. then again, i can always just buy food then, not like i live in the boondocks!

as for your cold i have a few suggestions. do you take extra vitamin C? i suggest taking it on a higher level, outside of what you take in a multi. i suggest to take it at meals, unrelated to when you take the multi so your body has a better chance of absorbing it. i also suggest more ginger, onions and garlic. also other good spices are tumeric, black pepper, curry. i hope you feel better and the nasal congestion goes away.

the nasal is what's prob producing the sore throat as it's dripping down.

one last thing i've been using when it's super-dry, the nose spray...saline nose spray works to help clear your nose out. i highly recommend it.

salmon with rice and veggies sounds excellent. it may make you feel better :)

i will keep hoping that your back continues to improve this week...nice job on the extra sleep. i have been doing the same now. been getting great sleep in terms of hours since thursday night when i skipped exercise to rest (a great idea) since i'm now feeling pretty darn good after all the work i've been doing and stuff :)

keep on, i like that you are resting.

you are a "go hard" type of lady.

Sunday - REST; finish any final preparations leading up to Christmas  TRAVEL TO CITY?

More changes to the schedule for the weekend

DARN IT! I woke up with a sore throat this morning! NOOOOOOOoooo.

Oh my goodness, I tell you, if I get sick again... somebody is gonna get hurt real bad.

Ok, so yesterday I was able to get out of work by 4:30; we had a Christmas event in the afternoon that I had to do a lot of running around for, and setting up and then breaking down...didn't get done until almost 4:30 and oh my I was EXHAUSTED by the end of the day. I got home and collapsed on the couch. Literally, I ate two peanut butter sandwiches and a freezie and spent the rest of my time sleeping. And I even managed to sleep all the way through the night too! When I got up this morning, I was like "No! What?! NO I CAN'T BE SICK!" Ugh.

I'm going to enjoy another night off tonight, and I don't plan on doing much of anything at all. Hopefully will kick whatever my body is fighting now.

BearCountryGG on 12/20/2018:
Chicken soup......Always good for a sore throat.

legcramps on 12/21/2018:
I didn't see this in time LOL; I had my leftover chilli for supper.

graindart on 12/20/2018:
I'd rather brave 2 feet of snow on my roadtrip than be sick over Christmas vacation....... Hopefully neither myself nor you will have to deal with either......

Hopefully your head was just placed in a weird way which caused you to breathe through your mouth all night, thereby drying out your throat.

legcramps on 12/21/2018:
I hope not too! Nah, still have a sore throat today and a bit of nasal congestion now too. Oh well. I don't know what the heck is up with my immune system at this time of year, but it's really crappy.

Donkey on 12/21/2018:
How are you feeling this morning? Maybe it was just a tickle in the throat?

legcramps on 12/21/2018:
Nope, looking like another cold is coming my way. Hopefully it won't get much worse; I gotta stop stressing over everything because i'm sure that's part of what is lowering my immune system. Coping with stress has never been my strong suit LOL.

Sunday - REST; finish any final preparations leading up to Christmas  TRAVEL TO CITY?

Well, already an edit to my schedule for the week:  At some point this weekend, I want to travel into the city to see my step-Mom before Christmas, and perhaps one of my step-Brothers as well. We will also drop off some Christmas cards to BF's family that live in the city. So that will be a good 6 hours of additional 'stuff' to do this weekend :( and might take away some of the REST that I had scheduled previously. But I still have tonight and tomorrow night to rest!!! No workouts!! Only netflix!

I also got a call last night about my uncle who has been having some health issues. He has been in hospital for two weeks now, and they don't think he'll be out in time for Christmas, so they're all making new plans for Christmas Day and such. I am hoping that in January I will be able to take a weekend and go see him, and then visit my Grandma also. We are all sad that I won't make it there during the holidays, but I just can't make it work this time. I talked to my Grandma a couple nights ago, and then my aunt and my cousin last night, and I tell you I shed a few tears while on the phone just because I knew I wouldn't be able to see them. I keep telling myself "you must put your family first; they are your priority ALWAYS", but it is harder to put that into fruition than one might expect, especially while holding down two jobs and having BF's family to consider.

We had a really good coaching session last night; I bought little plush toys for all my participants, and then stapled little workouts to them, and that's what we did to finish our session. It was lots of fun, and they all got to take their little plushies home with them as a gift from me :) I also was able to get in my own workout before the session, so that was nice. I did some upper body, probably about 20 minutes, and then counted my set up time as part of my workout since I was hauling around kettlebells and stuff LOL. Whatever, it counts!

In addition to FEMSPORT in 2019, I am starting to research triathlons in my surrounding area. I really want BF to try one, he's never done one before, and even though I despise running I think I could turn it out just to be able to do a triathlon with BF. So we'll see, cross your fingers! BF says he'll do anything I choose since he's on this crazy ride of life with me. I make things interesting for sure!

BearCountryGG on 12/19/2018:
It'd sad that you won't be able to see family for Christmas....but there are only so many hours in a day.......hopefully you will make it after.

horn_of_plenty on 12/19/2018:
Yep, seems all 3 of us, me-you-donkey are all in need of some rest. I'm also resting tonight as early as i can as today was rather difficult in terms of being so sleepy & i'd rather not get sick because of it. I'm going to rest tomorrow additionally and wait to work out on Friday night instead of Thursday if i still feel tired tomorrow.

You are forgiven for not seeing them because it's hard when there's a significant other and you have to actually choose who to be with. the point is that you are planning to see them soon after. that's what they will remember - that you followed thru.

I wish i were a GREAT swimmer, than even I would think of a triathlon but overall here at DD you are our Triathlete :) I'm not up to that kinda level, at all. I have no endurance. You rock :)

Donkey on 12/20/2018:
Wow, I just realized that I am not seeing any family this whole holiday season: American Thanksgiving in November, Christmas, and New Year's Eve. Yuck!

One of my friends IRL has evolved her running to multiple marathons, biathtlons (running and bike), and triathlons. I think her crowning achievement this year was doing the Ironman. She's not big on swimming, so this has been HUGE for her. Me, I'm lucky if I can walk 40 minutes and have enough energy for the rest of the day.

Sunday - REST; finish any final preparations leading up to Christmas

Yesterday went mostly according to plan. I left work a bit early so that I could pick up groceries that we need for a work event tomorrow, then I ran a few other errands as well. When I got home, I added everything I needed for chilli to the slow cooker and got it going, unpacked everything from the car and organized it into bundles to bring in to work today. I spent the rest of the evening doing a lot of self care things. I feel pretty good this morning, except for that I took an advil for my back and now my stomach is cramping a bit, I think it's from the advil.

It will be a long day today; I still have a lot to do to get ready for the work event tomorrow, and not a whole lot of extra time to do it. So i'm feeling a bit anxious, but the days will pass regardless of how I feel about it, so I might as well just relax!

BearCountryGG on 12/18/2018:

Pretty sad to wake up to Monday staring me in the face, but you can't stop time, right?!

BOOB Question coming up, for anyone who thinks it might be TMI, go ahead and skip to the next paragraph! Anyone have any experience with breast pain and tenderness going into menopause? I know i'm only in my 40's, but man they have been so sore for the last week! I'm pretty sure it's not the muscles surrounding it (it's not from working out), and I can rule out pregnancy. Only thing I can think of is early menopause! I have been on depo provera, but the last shot I had was in July; I didn't take the shot in October (no reason, just because); I haven't gotten my period back yet. Just thought maybe someone else might have some insight; it's an irritating feeling LOL.

I have been diligent in taking the anti-inflammatories the doctor prescribed for my back, and I think it's finally starting to help. Last night I could jump into bed without much effort (the normal for the past 10 days has been a lot of grunting and groaning while crawling under the covers), and this morning was met with a lot less pain too. Progress! I am still really uncomfortable sitting for too long at my desk, but it's certainly much better than it was last week.

Friday - Work 8-4; Coach 4:30-6:30; Workout 6:30-7:30; drove to BF's and crashed hard after eating a delicious meal that he made - sausage, potatoes and veggies.

Saturday - Up early, desparately tried to go back to sleep, but I was in pain and couldn't get comfortable; bacon and eggs for breakfast, did some last minute Christmas shopping, baked cookies; watched my Godson play his first hockey game; Workout 6-7:30; we made another delicous meal of pork cutlets in the slow cooker, potatoes and veggies, then spent the rest of the night relaxing.

Sunday - Slept in until 10!!! Pancakes for breakfast; drove home; baked more cookies; baked an apple/pear crisp; BF arrived at my place; went to a friend's for an early Christmas supper and celebration (our contribution was the apple/pear crisp, which was superb), played some dominoes and back home by 9:30 to relax for a bit before bed.

This week:

Monday - Work 8-4

Tuesday - Work 8-4; Coach 4:30-8; Workout 8-9; stay at BF's

Wednesday - Work 8-4

Thursday - Work 8-4

Friday - Work 8-4; Coach 4:30-6:30; Workout 6:30-8

Saturday - Coach 7:30-11:30; Workout 11:30-12:30; Twinkle Tour 2018 6-7

Sunday - REST; finish any final preparations leading up to Christmas

It's going to be another busy week, but at least I have today, Wednesday and Thursday night free (so far). I'm going to make a chili tonight for supper and then i'll have that for leftovers for the week, which will help for sure. I'm really craving hamburger meat; I don't think i've been getting enough protein lately. I'm going to fill it with lots of good veggies too.

For some reason, i thought you were more around my age, 36! wow you look great for your age!

i don't know about menopause, i just know that right before that TOM i get the pain some months more and some months less or not at all. but i've felt it. annoying!

for some reason, the stores have NO SWEET POTATOES by me! only yams. i keep wanting to eat more potatoes but they are missing in action!

yup, i also slept in Sunday and woke up to an indulgent breakfast similar to yours...also ate cookie...well, cookie dough! haha. i had no patience to cook them.

with your work, do you get to leave for a break like a lunch break? are you paid during that time or are you paid 7hours?

legcramps on 12/17/2018:
Yeah, I leave for lunch most days. I have an unpaid lunch break of 1/2 an hour, so i'm paid for 7.5 hours of work. My hours were cut by the government a few years ago, so I don't like staying for lunch because I usually end up having to work through it, and then they get 8 hours of work out of me and only have to pay me for 7.5 ;)

Just venting now, but I also don't get paid overtime, so when I talk about having to go back to work or stay at work extra to go to a meeting or something, that's time that I don't get paid for.

All the slow cooker meals are making me want to fire my slow cooker up......

legcramps - Friday Dec 14, 2018

Weight: 0.0

It's been quite a week so far. I was talking to a co-worker yesterday who is feeling overwhelmed with everything she has to accomplish, and realized that I am feeling quite overwhelmed myself LOL. Funny how it took talking to someone else to realize how little control I currently have over the construction of my own world. Must change that.

I have worked every day this week, plus put in an average of 3 hours of work in on the evenings as well; almost every evening except Monday. Yesterday I was looking forward to having the night off to get some laundry done and just hang out at home, but then I got called to cover a gym shift for the evening, and of course I said yes because...well I don't know why, I guess because I have a hard time saying no! Anyways, I work today and then again at the gym tonight, then i'm driving to BF's to crash until Sunday. This girl needs to SLEEP.

I went to see the doctor about my back yesterday, and he checked me over and thinks I have an acute muscle strain. He was going to offer me stronger meds for the pain, but I resisted and we compromised. He gave me a prescription for anti-inflammatories, and I will continue to take OTC muscle relaxants as I need them, as well as Advil. He also told me to refrain from exercise for 7 to 10 days, but we all know that will never happen. And yes, I do want my back to heal as quickly as possible, but I also need to retain my sanity and if I can't workout, I will go crazy!

I hope next week will not be as busy. Like HoP, I need to seriously reconsider my schedule and my body's need for balance. Obviously, this muscle strain is from over-use/stress, and I don't want it to be a chronic thing, so I need to figure out how to make sure i'm getting the self-care I need.

More info about the FEMSPORT competition in August! The second workout is the Sandbag Burpee, Clean & Press:

- Using a 40lb sandbag, starting from standing position with sandbag on ground competitor grasps sandbag by inside handles, performs a “clean” to flip sandbag to either knuckles or cradles in arms, then presses sandbag directly overhead. Then places the sandbag back onto the ground, the competitor lays flat on the ground to connect chest to sandbag then stands back up (i.e. burpee) to do another clean to overhead press.

- You can jump with both feet to plank/flat position…OR…walk it out/in.
- Penalties will be given if hands are placed in front of or behind sandbag.
- This is repeated 15 times as fast as you can and time will stop when sandbag has been placed on the ground after your last overhead press.

Good for you not accepting the pain pills...those things are nothing but trouble in so many ways......introspection is always interesting and educational....and sleep cures so many hurts........I hope you have a restful and nie weekend.

horn_of_plenty on 12/14/2018:
Sleep is what makes everything easier....i am having the same issue. Yesterday i was supposed to go home on time, but stayed an extra hour...leading to a more stressful night on my end with everything happening later....but who knows maybe we need to challenge outselves sometimes...but boy it's a doozy when sleep is hindered. try to plan for a day or two to rest soon or rather just to get better sleep...that's my plan for the entire weekend to be able to sleep in...

try to at least really try not to do anything that will affect the healing of your back...after all, 7-10 days is a short time compared to having an aggrivated injury that won't heal.

yeah, i feel you. this has been a stressful month. but now that i wrote that, read your entry and gave it more thought, i realize that before this month started, once the OT was brought up, I KNEW this month was going to be very different than i had originally planned it to be.

I knew it would be hard to keep my exercise routine but figured with two November holidays and then a few weeks till Christmas that it would be ok...but i hadn't figured i'd be given this Overtime Hours challenge to get in 16 more hours of work on top of my full schedule....this has def been a challenge and i'm trying to pull back a bit because now i'm starting to feel overwhelmed too...especially when sleep is cut short...so, i'm thankful it's Friday...i know i'll feel better after some rest. but it's a bit much and the lack of sleep has made everything more of a struggle because first thing when the alarm goes off i feel horrible like why do i need to get outta this warm bed!? i'm so tired! lol

but the good thing is, this all ends. we'll all get thru. and it's important to start to say no...i'm seeing it with myself.

I have actually, with certain people and things, to say NO. it feels good every so often.

for instance, at the union meeting i went to, a FORMER boss (he was fired from my company and very high up) came over to me to tell me how his daughters got married this year and all his success....i congratualted him, knew i didn't really want to listen to him talk for a long time...and i excused myself. HE WAS SHOCKED. i don't owe him more than a hello ...and short talk...i was so glad i cut him short (not in a rude way, just that i wasn't going to talk more than i wanted to)...there were other people that I wanted to talk with....and he was impeding me so i ended it! hope that makes sense.

also, in the new year, i will have to leave work with things not done. i just know i cannot be this stressed again in February and march.

I have another trip to France planned and it will def be too much to have to work like a dog all winter.

My company doesn't pay for OT...so i will leave it. It's not healthy.

I hope your work has an option to become less crazy after the New year too?

the Femsport sounds awesome. something i'd love
