Even though I am sporadic, flaky, and nomadic, I am so glad to see all my friends still posting on diet diaries when I come back to check on you all... hope you are all being courageous!

I can hardly remember the last 4 months that i've been away. Time goes so fast now, things happen at lightening speed and even before I can take time to relish the accomplishments, it's time to move on to something else.

I had to study and then write an exam in December, and then there was Christmas. In January, I did a burpee challenge (made it to 90 burpees in one session!) and took some bootcamp training. February I passed my Fitness Instructor Course (on my birthday), which means I can finally teach group fitness! That was a big turning point for me. I also took up snowboarding in February and found myself loving it.

I took Pound Fit pro training in March, just completed it a couple of weeks ago...so I have a few months to reflect, practice, and refine my technique before I start teaching it (hopefully people will show up lol). Also this month I was signed by a gym to start doing group training for them. The onboarding has been extremely exhausting, but I keep telling myself "It is difficult now so that it can be incredibly satisfying later" LOL. I have to repeat this mantra many times a day sometimes, especially after working a full day at the office, driving an hour to the gym for coaching and training, then studying videos and notes for the rest of the evening. But it is everything I have wanted for such a long time, I can hardly complain now, right?!

Happy Easter all! I will be spending the weekend with family, sledding, snowboarding, and hot tubbing. Can't wait!

Nov 24 - 45 minute GYM session with bf

So, I ended up not taking any melatonin after all. Bf put vaseline in his nose and I didn't wake up to his snoring at all Friday or Saturday night. Shopping on Saturday was LONG; ugh; but I did manage to find all gifts except my Mom and bf, so it's nice to have such a good head start. When we got back home to my place, I had a few friends come over and we played cards. I don't know if it was because of the long day but I started overthinking things with bf...his mannerisms while we played cards...I was analyzing it all and WE ALL KNOW what happens when we overthink things; then on Sunday afternoon when I asked him to clarify something about his past the conversation just went wrong. Not arguing wrong, just awkward wrong...like he was keeping something from me. He ended up going home soon after, and I went to the gym. I feel upset about it; I also feel very anxious that i'm making the same mistakes i've made in past relationships...I know he is not my exes. Must remind myself of that.

One thing: please don't analyze yourself like YOU are making mistakes. HAVE CONFIDENCE.

If it somehow doesn't work with him, you cannot blame it on you, as long as you are being yourself, that's all you can be in a relationship. Honesty.

Please remain confident of yourself. Your actions and your decisions. You can never blame a relationship ending on yourself unless you purposely did something negative to cause it or you wanted it to end and you ended it. Otherwise, i do not believe you can blame yourself if you are a proactive person in general. BE CONFIDENT.

I finished the dumbbell program I started in the middle of September; it felt like it took FOREVER to finish the program.  It was pretty difficult, especially the last 3 weeks because I tried to keep increasing my weight, but I can definitely feel the difference in my muscles from September to now.  I am absolutely so much stronger.  Now I can concentrate on the next program I want to do - which will be machines, leg press, and barbell work. I love the leg press, and i've been waiting FOREVER to do barbell stuff.  I'm so excited that i've just gotta start tonight!

I tried to go to bed earlier last night but I ended up laying awake in bed waiting for bf.  What the heck?!  And then when he came to bed, he was snoring within minutes and I was still laying awake staring at the ceiling.  So of course I am tired today, but it's Friday so I guess it's ok :)

I might nap after work today before bf gets here and we go to the gym, otherwise I will likely be a bit grumpy tonight, especially since we are waking up early tomorrow morning to head into the city and do some Christmas shopping.  I really dislike crowds, so I know this will already be a test of my patience.  Hopefully I won't be adding to the misery by not getting enough sleep tonight.  I might even try taking melatonin, that's how desperate I am for sleep!  I lost two pounds in the last week, and i'm sure it's because I haven't gotten the sleep I need to hold on to my muscle gains... not that i'm upset about the lost weight, but i'd rather to do it the right way, you know?

Ok, enough venting, geez!  I sound like a grumpy old lady...

next, i used to sleep sooo poorly. i used to drink lots of caffeine during the day and my sleep was pitiful! well, thankfully i stopped that. but, also, i have been finally sleeping better than ever without any sleeping pills, but i did used to use them on weekends and when i know i could sleep in...then i actually got used to sleeping in and do not need the pills, not for several months. somehow, my body has readjusted. but i did at first use pills, but not more than 2x per week because they had a tendency to make me VERY tired at work - but they actually helped me get back on routine or get the sleep i was lacking after several days of poor sleep. nothing is better than a restful sleep, of course, naturally without meds or pills, but sometimes i do think it's necessary.

Still struggling with my sinuses, but I am functional so i'll just be happy about that and count my blessings. Really need a massage sometime soon; if only there was an hour here or there I could pull out of a hat! There never seems to be enough time for the lazy things like massages and television ;) LOL.

Dinner last night was absolutely stunning... baked salmon with all kinds of spices and seasonings, so delicious, with kale salad and basmati rice. We polished the whole fish off it was so good - I could have eaten that fish all week without getting sick of it. Looking forward to giving peppercorn steak a try sometime soon. The upside of having a boyfriend is that you start to cook a little better for yourself ;) not as many egg and toast with pb dinners for me anymore. Thankfully I haven't managed to gain any weight from all these elaborate meals; thank goodness I topped up on the gym visits as well as the dinners!

Yes, it's hard to even fit in lazy things...i'm trying to rethink life's challenges as being somewhat fun (taking a class, per se), so that i don't feel as needy for lazy activities....i feel like we have to try to "grow" with life and adapt as necessary...but if you feel you can't relax, you need to plan it into your week - relaxation time...good for mind and body.

sounds like you are eating more healthfully. good.

we actually need many calories to support our active lifestyles and pb and j can be high calorie just that small volume, so your sorta bigger volume but healthy meals may actually be similar calories. what i'm saying is, the swap sounds more healthy and better for health.

I might just be feeling the need to relax because my sleep patterns aren't great. Bf stays up late and I always feel like I should wait until he's ready for bed otherwise he just follows me to bed and then talks and talks...LOL. Maybe tonight i'll try to get to bed earlier and make him stay up until he's ready to sleep.

You do not have to sleep with same patterns as BF....try to do what is right for your body....so you stay healthy and get sick less...i think he'll understand 100%...

4 rest days in the last week. This cold is really getting the best of me, but it seems like it is getting better now. I know i've said that before and it came screaming back, but hopefully this time it's for real! It felt good to get back to the gym, and of course I always have fun when I go with bf.

I am feeling so tired today; I got something like 6 hours of sleep last night and that is just not enough for me to function like an adult LOL. I have a full day of work and then an evening meeting tonight before hitting the gym with a friend. Hopefully i'll make it. I'm guessing supper won't be anything too extravagant, if it's anything at all!

Hi Legs!

Sleep studies say more and more sleep these days. They say a MINIMUM of 7…and some even recommend over 8 and even NINE hours. Like you, I do NOT function correctly at all on 6 hours and many times I prefer THOSE NINE HOURS! I’m telling you, the more cardio I do, the more sleep I need. My body needs extra EXTRA repairing and that only happens during sleep. Yours too…if you are tired, you are probably needing more sleep. Lol, I guess that’s obvious! Try to sleep more if you feel you need it – sleep is what prevents sickness and also what helps us heal.

That’s seriously so cool that you go with him to the gym. How wonderful. One day I hope to meet a dream guy – lol – what I mean is, my ideal guy does like to exercise. I do want to meet a gym rat. I like my guy now, and all is good, but there’s certain requirements I have for future scenarios…lol….i’m babbling.

OMG, it snowed by you!? That’s right, you are in Canada I think. MY GOSH.

You have a lot going on today / tonight – try to schedule in some downtime that you KNOW you will be spending to relax / catch up / take care of yourself.

I tried to sweat out my cold on Saturday by doing all the cardio I could at the gym. I still absolutely have a sinus cold, but it has felt better ever since. If only my nose would stop running so much! Yikes! I could drown in all this mucus!

I jumped on the bike trainer this morning for 15 minutes; going to try and start doing this more often in the mornings. When bf stays overnight at my place during the week, he usually leaves around 6:00 am to head home, so it would give me 45 minutes to an hour to ride before having to get ready for work. This morning I only got in 15 minutes on the bike because bf wasn't here so I slept in ;) which I really needed. I have not been getting enough sleep and I think that is part of the reason why I am still sick with this cold.

No snapchat for me, I don’t know why but I never got into it…but the filters are the cutest thing EVER! My friends have used it with me – I especially like how it puts makeup on you a little bit no matter what filter you use…and you always look way better with it! Lol at least I do! Clears up my skin and all in the photos!

I am so glad you are doing better. I also mostly get sick to do being run down / lack of sleep. That’s why I try to get decent sleep overall in a week…and if I know I’m lacking, I do try to make up on other days and it does help! Kinda like how I average my calories per week, I try to also average my sleep!

Keep up the good work working out & I hope bf sleeps over some days this week so you get in some good cardio sessions!

I have been sick for FOUR days, this is day FIVE. I am so frustrated, it is the most annoying thing ever. I have not been able to go to the gym or get on the bike because my HEAD just HURTS so much and my sinuses are so congested that I squeak when I talk. My bf has been going to all these fun cardio classes all week long and I have had to stay at home and be sick. It has been a long week.

I think I will force myself onto the bike today after work. Maybe a little sweat will help. And if not, then I will have a temper tantrum in the safety of my own home.

You are smart to rest though when you are sick bc otherwise you just stay sick for longer if you really are sick – because the body needs rest to beat it! So good job doing the right thing and resting.

At least a temper tantrum would burn calories lol….but if you can’t do bike or you decide not to – it’s ok – you’ll go back when you are fully better, although, I do hope you get on the bike today !

i had a sinus infection once, it hurt to bend over, I went and they gave me a shot, it helped. I hope you feel better soon.

I can see some very defining changes happening in my body. So much muscle gained over the last few months; I can definitely tell how much stronger my back, shoulders and arms are, and a lot more definition in my quads and hamstrings. I am so interested in getting into powerlifting, just because I think I might be good at it, but cycling is my #1 and I need to work towards being stronger on the bike so I can finish the 100 mile tour next summer. But still, there is a powerlifting class on Saturday that I just heard about, and i sooooooooo want to check it out...

Really looking forward to sleeping in this weekend. Next week is going to be long; a friend and I have memberships at a new gym so we are going to try  that out starting Monday. That makes 3 gyms that I have memberships with now - and maybe the CrossFit gym if I decide I want to do the powerlifting classes on Saturdays. So THAT'S where my paycheck is going LOL.

seems like you are loving the changes happening from your consistency at the gym....and that you are enjoying delving into weightlifting....don't run from your curiosity..you never know and maybe the changes that happen will be GREAT for you.

I always also loved cardio more than weights till I realized how awesome weights proved to be for me (especially when doing cardio wasn't an option at the times i was injured). but weights became my passion...and it's partially due to life changes and a chance that i gave myself to delve into weightlifting which made that possible.

try the things that make your heart race and excite you...

the most amount of gyms i have been a member at once i believe was 3 also :)

the convenience of being a member of multiple gyms is worth it...especially when one is open and others are not like on holidays...

also one of my gyms used to be only $10 a month...not so much anymore!

Now, I belong only to 1 gym bc it's close to home and not far off from when i'm driving home from work either. convenience was always key with the gym!

The gym i go to now is $600/year. i used to go to one that was double or triple the distance from my house but less than $400/year. but it was always either too hot or too cold there also. In the summer, i'd be soaking of sweat. I decided on the more comfortable gym...for now at least!

If you can afford it, I can totally understand having memberships at multiple gyms. I miss the gym life. Enjoy! :-)

Still working to get in a good mix of cardio and strength training. Feels like every single muscle hurts today; better try and gets lots of water in. I had the option of doing a cardio workout on the bike trainer this morning, but decided to rest my legs instead. Maybe after work today, or tomorrow morning. Not going to fuss over it. A rest day after those tough cardio classes might be welcomed more than trying to fit another workout in and really depleting my energy stores.

Hello Legs!

I think sleeping more on a trip is GREAT. I sorta made sure that the time in Vegas included some decent sleep and my friend that came with me also didn’t mind the extra relaxing in bed in mornings before we got ready for the day! It felt SOGOOD not to have to rush like I do usually for work each morning. And eating more or different foods is a good thing, also. Why stick to the typical exact same routine when you are away…but it makes sense that it’s taking a few days to get back …your body has adjusted to the other schedule but you’ll get back…everyone deals with this same thing!

Oh, I also couldn’t exercise the couple days before my trip bc of the same reason as you – I had to pack / prep for the trip and exercise would have left me ragged.

Wow..you went to gym on your travel day!?….COOL!

The hike/ bike of 6 hours sounds like a nice day….did it leave you sore at all? I’d be…! That sounds good though :-P I hope you had great weather! Where did you go?

Looks like some great exercise, L-Cramps! Nice job, lady! And I’m glad you have the indoor bike set up…wonderful…always good especially in the colder conditions when it’s just best to stay home. And I also love that you go to the gym with your BF….i do wish I had a BF to go with me… :-P but I also just go alone and that’s fine bc I can take my time / go at exactly my own pace…but a bf is definitely a nice motivator and company to go there with…!

Water helps also maybe salt / potassium. If you are very sore, I suggest rest and stretching.

Not yet, but hopefully by the end of the year I will be able to instruct fitness groups. Personal training is much more intensive; this is just the first step to getting there ;)

The day after I posted here, I went on a trip with bf to see my family.  I've been struggling to get back into a routine ever since LOL.  Gosh, trips always bring out the lazy in me... I want to sleep more, eat more, and move less.  ALWAYS.  Combatted it fairly well this time around though, pretty happy with how the trip went.  Lots of good times!

Exercise as below; not too bad but can definitely see that I was trying hard to figure out a routine after getting back from my trip on Oct 1st.

Sept 22 - No exercise; prep for trip; visit with family

Sept 23 - Travel day; gym session with bf

Sept 24 - Hike 3.5 hours; Bike 2.5 hours; WOW 6 hours of exercise

Sept 26 - Hike 1 hour; gym session with bf

Sept 27 - Hike 1 hour

Sept 28 - Hike 1 hour; Bike 1/2 hour to the park with the kids; tried PARKOUR!  pretty cool stuff

Sept 29 - Travel day; Hike 2.5 hours; went down a mountain on a coaster!  pretty cool stuff also 

Sept 30 - Travel day; Hike 2 hours

Oct 1 - Run/Walk 5k

Oct 4 - Bike 1 hour

Oct 5 - Gym session with friend; then another gym session with bf

Oct 8 - Gym session with bf

Oct 10 - Gym session with friend

I also finally set up my bike on the indoor trainer last night, with bf's help.  Damn it is not easy to do.  Regardless, it's ready to go and the plan is to get a few morning workouts in on it each week.  Heading to bf's tonight so will 99% more than likely hit the gym for another session because apparently we live at the gym LOL.
