Who knew I could demolish all the muscles in my body just by wacking balls for an hour?

Even my ABDOMINAL MUSCLES hurt. And I sweated buckets. Haven't done that for YEARS, man. LOL. Feels that way anyways. 

If I continue to experience an endorphin high every time I golf or have anything to do with golfing, I may just become obsessed with the sport. Playing ball has never given me a high like this after every game. I don't understand how an hour of ball wacking equates to a high impact workout, but somehow it does.

Anyways, I was all nice and sore by the time I got home and don't recall doing anything except take a shower and go to bed...

Messy garage - 1; Legcramps - 0

So. Today. After work i'll do a quick run-through in the garage, but I gotta be out on the course by 5:30. Priorities, people.

Whatever it is that gets you sore is good in my book... it's probably using muscles you haven't used in awhile? I did leg lifts the other day and one side hurt so bad I was walking like a 90 year old woman yesterday.

legcramps - Wednesday Jun 05, 2013

I took the afternoon off from work yesterday and planted my container garden and pulled more weeds. When I had had enough of the heat, I went inside and swept and mopped the floors and shampooed rugs.

Then I golfed 9 holes! And when I got home after that, I did a few more household chores. Still need to clean out that garage  that thing is a thorn in my side right now since it needs to be ready for a garage sale on Saturday.

It is no wonder that I wasn't able to get up with my alarm this morning. Luckily, I still made it to work in time. However, there was no time to pack my healthy lunch. Instead I snacked on cinammon crackers and hickory sticks.

Heading to the driving range after work today, then hopefully attacking that garage. Somebody's gotta do it, and since my name's on the title I guess that's me... LOL.

legcramps - Tuesday Jun 04, 2013

Flying right along through the week. I'm thinking of taking Friday off to get some bigger tasks at home done, so that would mean only three more days of work.

Yesterday I was frustrated with my job and took that emotion home with me. Thankfully I got over it without taking it out on anyone. Mowed the lawn and pulled some weeds; still a lot of work to do out there.

I ate very well; cooked some wild rice and quinoa, added red pepper, onion, and green beans. Lovely. My boss brought me a big slice of chocolate cheesecake; I haven't tucked into it yet because I don't know if i'll be able to stop from eating it all at once! Also tried a 6" turkey and avocado from Subway. Eh, I think I can live without it.

Today is all about leftovers. Should be fine. And the plan is to clean up the garage for a sale this weekend. Maybe pull a few more weeds if i'm still in an ornery mood ;)

Just caught up with yesterday's post-golfing gets SUPER expensive quickly... I too have these same issues... with golfing eating into my budget... I guess with my back issues of late, it won't be an issue in the near future... BLAH!!! Have a good one!!

Very busy weekend! But good!

Friday - visited with a friend after work, then quick dinner of sausage and veggies before the ballgame; did NOT eat there, did NOT have any beer! once the sun went down, it was chiiiiiiiilllllllly. it took me awhile to warm up again back at home. local team WON!

Saturday - had a bagel and coffee for breakfast, went golfing. 18 holes. mowed the lawn when i got home and had FAST FOOD for dinner  went to another ballgame (they played three cold nights in a row, poor things). it was very cold! no eats, no beer; local team WON AGAIN! fell into bed with the electric blanket turned way up.

Sunday - coffee for breakfast, went into the city and bought a new driver and a couple golf shirts and basically blew my budget for June; this is an expensive hobby! cut back to town in time for a 3pm tee time, golfed 9 holes and went home frustrated with my short game. had FAST FOOD for dinner again!  waxed legs, burned my knee with hot wax - yowch!

And here I am.

Today's plan is.... written out on my laptop at home. something about renewing a costco membership, something something, cut the grass, something something, golf?

legcramps - Friday May 31, 2013

The banquet I attended last evening was quite nice, with turkey as the main course. I took only a small amount of the meat, and loaded my plate with salad. I also ate very slowly, as I was in deep conversation with a co-worker who has since retired. It was wonderful to catch up with her! And since I wasn't scarfing down food at the speed of light, I ate until I was pleasantly full (not painfully full) and even skipped the cake they had at the end.

I did get out on the golf course on Wednesday as well, which was nice because I thought it might rain on us. Never did!

What with golfing on Wednesday and wearing slight wedge heels yesterday, my knee was quite sore overnight; I woke up a few times with a throbbing pain on the inside of my knee, right where the initial tear was. I am trying to ignore it because i'm sure I have a low tolerance for pain, but will ice it after work today. However, i'm feeling pretty sorry for myself and so disappointed in the way i've responded to this whole process of surgery and recovery. Life happens, and it's the way we react to the things that happen that determines how well we live. I'm afraid I haven't been fairing too well in this regard and that makes me feel like I haven't learned as much in the last few years as I thought. I need to take a step back, relax, and start to take things as they come instead of always expecting so much of myself.

It's our local baseball team's home opener tonight and I scored myself a free ticket to the game, so i'll be sitting on the sidelines with a cozy blanket taking in the sights, sounds, and smells of a local, small town baseball game. I'll be able to avoid the dogs and burgers, but imagine I will bend to the call of the beer tent ;)

Thank goodness we are always able to see the positive in things, even when they seem at their worst! Have a truly awesome weekend everyone!

Finally, a break in the weather! I can see the SUN!

If it dries up enough, i'll be getting a round of golf in after work. If it doesn't dry up enough, i'll be laying on the couch sobbing underneath my favorite quilt. Huh.

I had steamed green beans and a burger for dinner, turkey sandwich for lunch, and coffee and crackers in the morning yesterday. Last night I munched on crackers and cheese. Lots of water.

I have no plan for my meals today (or for the rest of the week) and i'm really, really hoping I can stick to staying mainly healthy until I pre-cook some meals on the weekend. I was really just too lazy to get this done last weekend. Tomorrow night's banquet will be my biggest test.

Did you know the grass I cut on the weekend has already grown to its original length before the cuttage occurred? I wish my hair grew that fast.

I was able to get into the clinic for a depo shot yesterday *sigh of relief*, so i'm feeling much better and am able to continue working.

Last night I was layed up with my heating pad most of the night and missed the Star Trek 3D movie that was showing in town. Not terribly sad about that though; I was never a fan.

I highly doubt that i'll get too much accomplished today; it's been steadily raining since yesterday so any yardwork I wanted to do has been postponed to sunnier days. This week is not turning out the way I expected it to, so if it's nice on the weekend i'll have a lot of catching up to do what with all the golf i'm missing out on

My eating yesterday was not good; my control flies out the window when i'm not feeling my best and yesterday was no exception. I did not, however, succombe to the desire for ice cream. This is no small accomplishment!

Also, the coffee is much less strong today, so i'm not vibrating all over. I was so 'caffeinated' yesterday I felt like I could have run a marathon. Of course, after 1/4 mile I would've changed my mind.

Maybe a nice weekend will be your cure all! I was telling Annie that I found a no sugar added ice cream from Blue Bell that is really good. I just do a small scoop when I need a treat every once in a while. I'm down to one cup of coffee a day! But we drink it REAL strong down here. My grandma always said if it looked like tea instead of oil, you should just drink the damn tea!! hahaha Have a great day!

I made it to my second consecutive TOM before deciding that I need to pull the plug on this sh&t. Just waiting to see if I can get a shot today; if not, sitting here and squirming in my seat all day at work does not sound like fun so I guess i'll head home and squirm there. Damn Skippy. It was a struggle to get ready for work this morning and I still look like a train wreck even through I gave it my best effort!

The positive is that even though I feel like crap i'm still in a pretty good mood. I guess three cups of incredibly strong coffee will do that to a person. For awhile anyways.

Holy DOMS, Batman. Those 18 holes of golf yesterday are catching up to me.

But they were 18 fairly well-played holes, given the fact that it was my first 18 holes of the season. Not bad, legcramps, not bad at all. Call me Tiger.

And by now I understand that golfing is not entirely the best thing for my knee. The constant twisting and tension i'm putting it through (I put far more pressure on that leg when I swing - it's the only way I get a hip turn) is going to bite me in the ass later on i'm sure. It's pretty sore today. When I say "pretty sore" I really mean to say something that involves a whole lot more swear words.

C'est la vie?

Still better than playing ball, in my humble opinion.

And since golfing 18 holes took four hours, I didn't do much once I got home. I remember eating something, my leftover rice, quinoa and chicken; and I remember checking facebook. After that, it's all a blur of pure exhaustion. Awesomesauce. Need more days like this!

So. Wanna golf with me after work today???

ohhh I feel ya! I am loving these few days off with little plans and much needed relaxation! it's amazing how much better I feel...and how much I wish I had a few more days with no plans. maybe if I had two weeks off in a row, my skin would look amazing, it's already getting a little better in just 3 days!! I think I may experiment with quinoa today.

I'm in much better spirits than I was yesterday... I guess lounging on the couch all night will do that to a person.  

So even though I didn't accomplish much after the workday, my knee feels better for all the resting I did, and that puts me in a better mood.

Plus i'm golfing after work today, so that helps too.

I made another batch of rice and quinoa, and baked chicken breasts for a little extra protein because I thought maybe my robotic moves yesterday were due to a dive in nutrients. I'm going to try adding some cooked peas to this dish for dinner tonight, because eating peas always makes me happier. I am not entirely sure why, but i'll take it!

I am tempted to do 18 holes today instead of my regular 9; I hope my knee will cooperate with this grand plan, because I need the extra exercise another 9 holes would give me. I walked up the stairs this morning to check out the outfit I picked for work (LOL, blue sneakers, grey pants, orange top, brown cardigan, I ROCK) and was out of breath when I reached the top. That. Is. Totally. Not. Awesome. At. All.

P.S. Criminal Minds Finale? Made me cry.
