I think these meds are taking a toll on me... I just want to be done with them. They're making me feel crappy. And hungry. Yesterday was a bad day. I ate my way through a box of chocolates and stubbornly ate two peanut butter sandwiches because I was feeling sorry for myself.

And really, all this bloatedness is just bringing me down, man. I'm so depressed I could write a song.

I am so going to head to bed when I get home from work today.

Breakfast - mocha, yogurt

Lunch - blerg, who cares

Snack - yogurt, skinny b

Dinner - chicken and something else, maybe oven cooked fries. maybe more chocolate

Exercise - day off

Snack - juicing day 9: I skipped juicing yesterday once again. No excuse for it; I was angry and down on myself and ate two peanut butter sandwiches and a box of chocolates instead. But you already heard about that, so I won't reiterate. Much.

I can try to pull myself out of this well i'm stuck in, but I really think the only thing to do is take the darn meds and wait it out. I'll be done by Tuesday. I hope.

But it's dark in here and I don't have a lantern. And the zombies may get me.

Definitely feeling a little blah this morning. I got at least eight hours of sleep, but I think i'm getting groggy from the painkillers.

There is a windchill warning out today; it is - 48 degrees celcius with the windchill this morning. That's akin to freezing bare skin in under three minutes. Awesomesauce.

Good thing it only takes me 2 minutes and 45 seconds to walk from my car to the entrance to where I work. Now if only I had remembered to put a toque on. And warmer gloves. Brrr.

Anyways, I saw a slight gain on the scale this morning and not sure what it's from since i've been eating really well and getting exercise in. I could be retaining fluids because of the meds though, so i'm not going to freak out about it. Let it be.

Breakfast: mocha, oatmeal (apple, pb)

Lunch: soup or salad

Snack: yogurt, skinny b

Dinner: chicken, rice

Exercise: 30 day shred (not all of it, so don't freak out on me, just a few of the moves that i'm comfortable doing)

Juicing day 8 was a wash; I was groggy and tired and too lazy to make myself juice. Will try again tonight.

Knee pain again last night. Geez, this is happening more and more often; kind of takes my breath away.

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 11 lbs to go!

Wow on that windchill, be careful! The pain meds can definitely mess with your system so I wouldn't worry about the gain. Have a good one!

Doc actually showed a little bit of concern yesterday when I went to see him. Not with my back, he figures I just pulled a muscle in my back, but with my knee. He gave me a prescription for anti-inflammatories and a painkiller (told you so!).

One painkiller before bed and I haven't slept that well in years.

Doc also asked me to get a better brace for my knee, so I went shopping after my appointment, while I was waiting to fill my prescription. I found a much better, more stable brace. Still don't know how i'm going to wear it while playing wallyball though. Skip the knee pad on that side I guess.

Then I went to the hospital so they could x-ray my knee. I won't know the results of this until my follow-up appointment next week. Doc says if the x-ray doesn't show anything, he's going to send me to a specialist.

Breakfast - mocha, oatmeal

Lunch - soup or salad

Snack - I forgot to bring one... this might end up being scary.

Dinner - chicken, rice, green beans

Exercise - walk 30 minutes at track

Snack - juicing day 8: 1 beet, 3 stalks celery, 3 large carrots, parsley, and 1 apple.

Glad you got a good night sleep and nothing too serious with your back. Take care of that knee! RYC, you hit the nail on the head - I am feeling guilty and normally I wouldn't let it bother me, but I am picking up on strained vibes from him and I don't know if it is directed at me or just that we are in a financial pinch at the moment. And it doesn't help that he is my younger brother...AHHHH I need to talk to him now, but he is in a really deep thought process for a project right now and I am afraid disturbing him will only complicate my issues. I WILL TELL HIM - Thanks! I needed that!

Remember that anti-inflammatories use on regular basis will cause fluid retention..Yes, they are great for muscle inflammation, but cause swelling...Go figure! If/when they work, it is a great relief to be rid of the pain no matter. I hope your x-rays turn out that you don't have any major issues and it can be fixed with medicine and the right brace....

Sorry you're having so much trouble with aches and pains. I swear by deadlifts for low back and squats to keep my quads/knees healthier (than if I don't do them). I don't know how old you are, but past 35ish it takes somewhat regular wt trng (at least for me) to avoid pain/keep the muscles built up. I'd think with the wallyball and other organized sports you do, that would probably help out a lot.

I just recently found out that my BP is fairly sensitive to ibuprofen--it goes up, so I have to be careful. If I were a normal weight I wonder if this would be such an issue. I guess time will tell:-)

I hope you find out there's nothing serious going on, you can fully recover and resume your normal activities!

I am happy that you got your knee checked out..I hope everything is resolved soon girl..I have knee issues as well and have to wear a brace on the right knee(it is all jacked up) when I workout..Hoping that your tests are in your favor <3

I had an extremely angry day yesterday when the thought occurred to me that I might have to give up playing wallyball for now. It makes me angry just typing it out.

I made a doctor's appointment for this afternoon, since this morning my lower back is still in some pain, and my knee was also burning and quite sore to move around. Enough.

My birthday is coming up on Feb 10th and i'll be damned if i'm going to miss out on the afternoon of indoor golfing I planned. So, here we go. Let's hope there's an easy fix.

Day 7 of juicing: I feel like I may be getting too much fibre in my daily diet. Maybe TMI but the BMs are not going well. My weekly review of juicing leaves me wanting to limit them to one a day instead of two. Might try that for a week and see what happens. Otherwise, i'm very happy with the results of the juicing so far. Definitely feeling more energetic! This is such an awesome way to get in the vegetables that I so obviously ignore in my diet.

Breakfast: mocha, juice (+ extra cup of black coffee) (250)

Lunch: salad or soup (400)

Snack: yogurt (100)

Dinner: chicken, rice, green beans (400)

Exercise: walk 30 minutes at track (don't think for a second i'm going to stop doing everything)

Snack: peanut butter sandwich (350)

Hopefully the doc can suggest some good alternatives for my knee; i'm thinking an actual brace or wrap that will better support my sporting activities. And I guess some painkillers for my back, because what else can we do?

Not sure what all your aches and pain issues are, but we have started taking some supplement called Flex-a-min by Nature's Bounty. It sure has helped my husband's knees and my lower back issues....Took about a week or two to reaaly start noticing..Beats shoveling down the ibuprofen!

Oh no! That's a shame that you might have to give up wallyball for a while, but hopefully the doc can patch you up. I'm sure you'll be able to return to it in no time.

Hopefully this is a "temporary" condition that can be resolved with a little self-care and, perhaps, medication. I admire your motivation! I also need more veggies incorporated into my meal plan; I tried the juicer but haven't found combinations that are low cal AND taste good...yet! Still experimenting with this :)

I hurt my knee last year just stepping down from my Step Ladder. Turned the knee instead of the body. Ended up with six months sitting down with ice and leg up and pack on quite a few pounds - so hello I am here. I made it worst because I wanted to finish my painting job - had I stopped I would not be here right now. So take care and have a good day

Knees are my weakness too, they are always going out on me. I try to do more squat exercises and walking to strengthen them up.

Wow. That 1 beet yesterday is putting my body through some wicked motions today.

Hello, bathroom. Stay close.

Brief Summary of my weekend:

Friday: I hung out at home in the evening and had my 2nd juice. No exercise; it was a day off!

Saturday: Got my hair coloured again, tried to stay under my calories but failed miserably. I had 2 fried eggs on toast for lunch, with some raw carrots. I only managed 1 juice; I heard there would be no dinner at the event, so I ate chicken and rice before I left; then they served a bunch of munchies and cheesecake and I had myself some vodka punch; I just didn't have enough willpower  I went over by around 500 calories.

The event was awesome; no I did not get hypnotized but I wish I had. The majority of his show was clean, and I would have been okay with what he had those girls doing. Maybe next year! Fundraiser for a great cause (breast cancer).

Sunday: Realized the pain in my butt was back. I slept in, had fried eggs again for lunch, and juice before leaving the house to go to wallyball. When I got to the city, my stomach was really bothering me. I thought I was hungry, so I got a bag of chocolate covered blueberries and had a serving of that. Felt better, played wallyball; back still hurt which affected my play and I didn't feel like I did well.

Forgot to enter calories from chocolate covered blueberries, so when I got home I ate chicken, rice, green beans, then my juice (below), THEN a pb sandwich because I thought I still had calories to eat. Crap. Over by around 100 calories.

In the end, not a big deal, maybe I needed the extra calories this weekend. Not going to sweat it because I enjoyed them all

Day 6 of juicing: Yesterday made juice with 1 apple, celery, 3 carrots, some parsley and 1 beet. Not bad. This morning is all of that minus the beet. Still scared of the beets

Day 6 of new shampoo & conditioner: Definitely keeping. Awesome. Soft. Glossy. End of discussion. #paulmitchellFTW. I don't know why i'm hashtagging that. I don't even know what "hashtag" means.

Breakfast - mocha, juice

Lunch - salad

Snack - oatmeal, apple & peanut butter

Dinner - salmon, brown rice, green beans

Exercise - Just Dance wii workout

Snack - juice

So my back is sore, and my knee is really bothering me. Wondering whether I should just make a doc appt or let it go and see how it feels in a few days (which is pretty much what I did last week). Problem with making an appt - my doc here has a tendency to not take these things seriously enough. It's always a fight to get proper care. Ask him to refer me to a sports doc? Grrr.... I don't know if it's serious enough for that.

LOL yeah certain foods wreak havoc on my system, hope the beets don't keep ya in the loo all day..Hope that your soreness subsides, but it may be a good idea to see what the Doc says..Sounds like you had a good time at the event and with your walleyball workout, that extra 100 cals won't hurt..I too would have given in to the vodka punch too(says the lush,hahaha)

Yeah I was pretty pissed that the broad didn't show up..I had a million things I needed to get done yesterday not to mention getting up at the ass crack of dawn instead of getting to sleep in..It was nice to meet new people and their work environment seems alot less stressful and we noticed that they all seem to be hard workers when we ate there..Anyhoo I hope you have a wonderful evening my friend <3

Day 4 of juicing: Last night and this morning I made juice with spinach, carrots, 1 apple and celery. Today I need to hit the grocery store and stock up again; maybe i'll try some beets since biscotti gave me a recipe with them in it and says it's tasty ;)

Not much planned for today; I am going to a hypnotist event tonight so that should be fun. I think dinner is included, so who knows what that will be!

Breakfast - mocha, juice

Lunch - two eggs on toast

Snack - yogurt, skinny B

Dinner - tbd

Exercise - another day off to get ready for wallyball tomorrow!

Day 3 of juicing: Last night's juice was made with spinach, carrots, 1 apple, and some celery. Same thing for this morning. I just make double of whatever recipe I choose for the day.

Unfortunately, there isn't much at the grocery store to be able to try too many other juicing recipes.

I'm scared to try beets because I hear it can be pretty harsh on detoxing the body. And ginger is in some recipes and that kind of scares me too because with my luck i'd probably end up putting too much in and making it undrinkable.

My life is JUST. SO. HARD sometimes...

Completed another round of 30 Day Shred last night; while my abs were really complaining, I noticed my shoulder muscles also straining to keep up with the workout yesterday. Thankfully, the pain in my butt is now almost non-existent. Whew.

Slept hard. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.

Today my ab muscles asked me why they hurt so much. I told them I was working out, to help them become stronger. I said they'd feel more confident, and want to show themselves off. And maybe, I said, one day you won't be covered by a layer of fat cells and you can be FREE. Free! I said. Just imagine!

So i'm a little sore this morning, but all is good. Went for a walk last night for exercise, and tonight is the Shred again.

Day 2 using new Shampoo & Conditioner: Feels softer, looks glossier, smells awesome. Need to try hot iron and other styling products, but so far it seems to work with my natural curls - doesn't end up in a big old knot by the end of the day ;) I actually hate my curls most of the time, but when my hair is this soft, they look much nicer!

Day 2 of juicing: My juicer was delivered yesterday, so I decided to start juicing right away. Last night's juice was carrot and apple (that's all the fresh vegetables I had in the fridge). It was actually delicious, and i'm not even exaggerating. I made one for this morning as well and i'm going to hit the grocery store after work for a few other vegetables. My plan is to juice twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening, along with my normal eats.

I really need to find recipes to make loaves with all the pulp from juicing. Wow. Lots of pulp. I could have made a dozen loaves of carrot loaf with all the pulp. Exaggerating slightly, of course.

Breakfast - mocha, juice

Lunch - oatmeal, pb, blueberries (or a salad from cafeteria)

Snack - yogurt, skinny b

Dinner - chicken, rice, green beans

Exercise - 30 Day Shred

Snack - juice

Other news: The Walking Dead is getting interesting. I think i'm on episode 6 of the first season. The kid gets shot. Hope I didn't give anything away...

I love the way you talk to your legs!! I got my morning chuckle from you! It's so funny about your curls - my hair is perfectly straight and I ALWAYS wanted curls!!! And now my perfectly straight hair is kinking up from the texture of the gray that has over taken my head! Of course I color it, but I bet if it grew out it would be all silver so I have to flat iron it after I dry it or it gets frizzy. I didn't realize you could make bread from pulp. Interesting concept! I took an aleve yesterday afternoon to help with the pain in my butt, but it didn't really help so after work I picked up a different over-the-counter med to alleviate some of the pain in my butt. It seems to be working, although trying to remember to take the med is a bit of a pain in my butt...

Did the 30 Day Shred workout yesterday; it was sooooo tough to complete! Next time I have a pain in my butt i'll rest completely instead of trying to work it out through exercise.

Then I woke up at 4 am with a large gut-ache. I will need more than one cup of coffee today.

Breakfast - mocha, quick oats with blueberries and pb

Lunch - gonna try a salad today, need some veggies in me

Snack - yogurt, skinny B

Dinner - chicken, brown rice, maybe stir-fry some bell pepper

Exercise - walking 30 minutes at track

A friend who owns a hair salon bought Tea Tree by Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner for me. I normally buy no-name or store brand products, but she bought this because I need the extra moisture and conditioning. It will also protect the colour I had put in last week ;) BONUS.

What else can I tell 'ya? I could really go for a drink right now. Too bad i'm at work.

My friend has DDR and Just Dance 3, so last night after DDR we did one song from Just Dance. I think we'll be doing Just Dance from now on; our heartrate will stay high for the entire time i'm sure. I'm excited to really try it out next week :)

I didn't do much else yesterday except to start watching season 1 of The Walking Dead. It's pretty slow; I have to keep reminding myself that it's a tv show, not a movie ;)

Great night's sleep; up with a slight twinge in my left hip/butt area, probably from wallyball. Ok, it's not slight, it's making me walk funny. This reminds me to make a massage appointment asap. I should place a heating pad on the area tonight and see if that helps.

Breakfast - mocha, oatmeal with apple and peanut butter (350)

Lunch - soup (100)

Snack - yogurt and skinny B (250)

Dinner - chicken and rice (550)

Snack - peanut butter sandwich (350)

Exercise - 30 Day Shred

I ordered a juicer yesterday because I wasn't quite finished with my weekend shopping spree ;) I think it will be here sometime next week. I hear it does great things for your skin. I should do some before and after shots - what do you think? Maybe do a 30 day trial of adding in one or two juices each day?

Progress as of today: 14 lbs lost so far, only 11 lbs to go!

Hope your message will work out the kinks..I would have LOVED to seen ya bust a move last night :) RYC My "skinny ritas" are super simple to make..Shot of Tequila,(or two ;) LOL ), fresh lime juice, sugar free margarita mix, splash of grand marnier(optional, but I love it) and club soda to neutralize the sweetness of the marg mix.. Some people add triple sec but since I use grand mariner which is on the sweet side, I omit it to cut the calories.. Jose Cuervo sells the Skinny Rita(lite) mix with everything in it, all you have to do is pour it over ice, if you want to make it super skinny, add club soda.. Hope ya had a good day :)

I saw your mention of extremely low temps--I can't imagine what that's like. I couldn't stand 22degF with a slight wind a couple weeks ago. Just like with our heat, being prepared is half the battle I imagine.

The walking dead doesn't really pick up until like the end of season 2 and then it gets interesting, I didn't like it at first, mainly because its nothing like the comic books- I was into them way before the show ever started. Either way I agree it was slow. Its one of my favorite shows now though. -----Oh and I did smile :D

The dance stuff sounds great. I watched the first few episodes of Walking Dead and enjoyed them, but I decided not to get vested in it since there's too much catching up to do. Norman Reedus.....what? ;P

Hope you can get a massage and that the butt feels better. Maybe the spa can suggest some exercises to help? The last time I had problems, the person suggested a few things that helped immediately.
