Holy DOMS, Batman. Those 18 holes of golf yesterday are catching up to me.

But they were 18 fairly well-played holes, given the fact that it was my first 18 holes of the season. Not bad, legcramps, not bad at all. Call me Tiger.

And by now I understand that golfing is not entirely the best thing for my knee. The constant twisting and tension i'm putting it through (I put far more pressure on that leg when I swing - it's the only way I get a hip turn) is going to bite me in the ass later on i'm sure. It's pretty sore today. When I say "pretty sore" I really mean to say something that involves a whole lot more swear words.

C'est la vie?

Still better than playing ball, in my humble opinion.

And since golfing 18 holes took four hours, I didn't do much once I got home. I remember eating something, my leftover rice, quinoa and chicken; and I remember checking facebook. After that, it's all a blur of pure exhaustion. Awesomesauce. Need more days like this!

So. Wanna golf with me after work today???

Progress as of today: 17.5 lbs lost so far, only 7.5 lbs to go!

Well done on the golf! Hope your knee doesn't suffer too much. Have a good weekend.

I would like to come with you but I haven't golfed since college. Let's play disc golf some time - it may be less stress on your knee ;)

Golfing and backs and knees, yikes! I like to golf 9 holes only - but don't anymore. Would rather be on my bike - good for my back and knee! Hey - that sounded like a commercial for biking - unintentionally! Have a great weekend!

ohhh I feel ya! I am loving these few days off with little plans and much needed relaxation! it's amazing how much better I feel...and how much I wish I had a few more days with no plans. maybe if I had two weeks off in a row, my skin would look amazing, it's already getting a little better in just 3 days!! I think I may experiment with quinoa today.

I'm in much better spirits than I was yesterday... I guess lounging on the couch all night will do that to a person.

So even though I didn't accomplish much after the workday, my knee feels better for all the resting I did, and that puts me in a better mood.

Plus i'm golfing after work today, so that helps too.

I made another batch of rice and quinoa, and baked chicken breasts for a little extra protein because I thought maybe my robotic moves yesterday were due to a dive in nutrients. I'm going to try adding some cooked peas to this dish for dinner tonight, because eating peas always makes me happier. I am not entirely sure why, but i'll take it!

I am tempted to do 18 holes today instead of my regular 9; I hope my knee will cooperate with this grand plan, because I need the extra exercise another 9 holes would give me. I walked up the stairs this morning to check out the outfit I picked for work (LOL, blue sneakers, grey pants, orange top, brown cardigan, I ROCK) and was out of breath when I reached the top. That. Is. Totally. Not. Awesome. At. All.

P.S. Criminal Minds Finale? Made me cry.

I managed to get out on the golf course twice over the weekend; i'd like to go today (it's gorgeous outside) but my knee is bothering me a bit so i'm not sure I should venture out. It was really sore last night so I iced for a while, but it doesn't seem to be too much better today. I should probably do some more yardwork anyways.

On Sunday, I made a big batch of wild rice and quinoa, and added onions and bell red peppers, and i've been eating that for meals this week. The last of it will be done today, so not sure what to make next. I might just be lazy and make another batch rather than think of something else to cook.

I don't know about you ladies, but my female friends and I don't know how to make a decision to save our lives! We hmmd and hawwed for over two hours last night trying to decide where to go for our annual Girl's Weekend camping trip. We had three laptops and two phones to help us make the decision, but between an overwhelming amount of information on the web, 'conversation tangenting', and trying to get people to answer the phone, it was a bit of a nightmare. I'm afraid I can't focus on things as well as I used to so a lot of the time I spent just staring at everyone else and waiting for them to decide where to go!

This week I feel like i'm just floating along; here for the ride. Feeling a little lost. But don't tell anyone, k?

yeah, it hurts like a bi tch, getting a full wax that is!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/22/2013:
and yeah, the full wax worked out real well in addition to the very "exciting" weekend i had!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 05/22/2013:
I think i may experiment with quinoa too...i have realized the grains i eat are not that healthy...usually refined with re-added fiber and such.

Man, why do I have to work? I would rather be golfing...

On the other hand, I have a three-day weekend coming up, so I really have nothing to complain about.

I had an evening meeting yesterday, but I still managed to get some more yardwork done. The front grass is now ready for mowing, but the back still needs some TLC, especially the garden. I'm really hoping to get that ready for roto-tilling by the end of this weekend.

I *think* i've decided not to make the trip into the city tomorrow. I will probably regret this next week and be longing to ride my bike to work everyday

Maybe I can get in another round of golf over the weekend.

There's some leftover multi-grain pasta, spinach and green beans for dinner tonight, if I don't fall into a sleep coma as soon as my butt hits the couch. Last night was another long night spent staring at the bedroom ceiling...

Life is good, my friends! I am riding my endorphin high from golfing yesterday; I had an awesome time with a good group of people and I can't wait to do it again soon  My skills need some fine-tuning; I want to really work on my swing and alignment. My distance is pretty good, but lots of balls are ending up on the left or right of the green instead of on it LOL.

Slightly disappointed that my cuddle time last night with my cousin's newborn was cancelled  My cousin didn't get to town until after 10pm, and after the short sleep I had Tuesday night, I was in bed by 9:30! Since she was only staying the night and leaving early this morning, I guess my visit will have to wait for another time

My eating's been much better lately, since i'm back on budget to save for some repairs that need to be done around the house and/or getting rid of some more debt this year. Not going nuts buying all the food in the stores LOL, which makes planning meals a lot easier. Protein, carb, fat. End of discussion.

I am debating heading into the city on Saturday; I need to get someone a birthday gift anyways, and I could look at a few bikes while i'm there. Does it make sense that I feel guilty about "dropping" my old bike???

I've been pretty busy lately, working through cleaning the house top to bottom (it now looks so nice and clean I could spend hours just staring, being grateful for what I have), and i've gotten started on the yard as well. I cleaned out two flowerbeds so far, three to go! And then i'm clearing the garden and seeding it into grass, so there's a couple days of work right there as well. Coming along nicely!

I tried to get my bike into shape so that I could start riding it to work, but it looks like it might be time for a new one. This gives me some anxiety because I have no clue about bikes and don't know what kind to buy. I hate to waste money on something that won't last long. I wish there was someone around here I could talk to about it, but there are no bike shops nearby. Oh well, i'll figure it out.

The golf course opened up on Monday, and i'm heading out there after work today for the first nine holes of the season! I am so excited that I couldn't sleep last night. Total of three hours. Mine eyes are bloodshot. But I get to golf today, so there's some adrenaline getting me through the workday and a goal to work towards

Knee is good, aside from slight pain at wierd times of the day; we'll see how it does with golfing.

Visiting family later tonight, my cousin had a baby boy and they're all here for a visit; can't wait to get some cuddle time in!

Enjoy your golf day! I bought a Trek "Skye" but if you could drive to a bike shop and try one for yourself, that would be the best. Mine was low $300 range and it is a mountain bike. I use it on the paved levee, but the tires are wider than a street racing cycle which gives me a better workout. I'm glad your knee is better. I wish I could finish my house to bask in its cleanliness! I have knocked out a little at a time, but I guess I am impatient. I can't put away 20 years of crap in a few months...get some sleep!

YES, I am still alive! PROMISE!

Ack! Time kind of got away on me...

I don't have enough time to say much, but just wanted to check-in and make sure you all knew that I hadn't forgotten about you

I'm back at work after a week off where I managed to accomplished a whole lot of spring cleaning. This past weekend I went for a walk with the wrong pair of shoes and managed to tweak my knee a little. I took a break from exercise last night, but plan to take a nice long walk outside this evening - the weather is GORGEOUS!!!! Stay! Stay, stay, stay!

Talk to you soon!

Hope your weather is lifting your spirits - I love spring and summer! No more snow or rain for awhile! I hate when I don't wear the right shoes! Any more that is almost ANY pair of shoes for me. Hard to fit. I did luck out and find a clearance pair at Marshalls for $28 that are Keen sandals that are wonderful - they are called City of Roses sandals and I actually love them! They aren't athletic shoes, but very casual sandals. Retail/sale would have been between $55 and $90 on line...if I could have found my size! Lucky!

Well, it looks like I can't post to dietdiaries from my laptop at home, but I can post just fine at work!! Isn't that bizarre... will have to e-mail the webmaster to see if there's something off with my settings...

Anyways, due to this little hiccup, my posts may not be daily anymore but you can bet your butts i'll be here as much as I can be!

The last week or so has been not so good with eating; I ate out a lot because an aunt came to visit, then it was Grandma's birthday, then I went out for dinner and a vent sesh with a friend, then visited Dad over lunch in the city. I came home with leftovers for a lot of those meals, but still, some of it was pretty high calorie. And even when you think you're being good (grilled chicken, rice and a salad), calories are stealthy little buggers and can find their way into EVERYTHING.

Plus I purchased a loaf of whole grain bread i've never tried before from Costco, and I fell in love and almost ate the whole loaf over a three day period.

HOWEVER, i've been doing good things with my knee lately. I gave it 11 whole days off from formal exercise. Walking around at work all day and a bit in the evenings was exercise enough. It was feeling great, so on Sunday I took a walk out at the dog park for about 20 minutes and then iced my knee when I got home. I've been contemplating the stairs a lot more lately too, and by that I mean walking up and down them. This makes my knee howl slightly, but at least I feel like i'm making up some ground.

I'm very disappointed with the results of surgery thus far, but i'm trying to stay positive and hoping these little tweaks will help with a full recovery *very* soon.

Loaded up on veggies, fruits and wholegrains, and i'm determined not to eat out at all this week. VERY good eats so far: fruit, whole grains, chicken, tons of vegetables, almond milk, peanut butter. Pretend I didn't drink any coffee and this is practically perfect!

Progress as of today: 17.5 lbs lost so far, only 7.5 lbs to go!

V on 04/23/2013:
Sorry that your results were not what you expected. How long did the Doc say that it would be til you are fully recovered? Anyhoo I hope the webmaster can assist you with your laptop issue..Have a good evening <3

I went back to grandma's for dinner again yesterday; I think she wants to have birthday celebrations all week instead of just for one day!

We had chinese and I filled up mostly on rice and vegetables.

I was really tired again yesterday, so I didn't visit long. I really don't recall doing anything when I got home except for making plans to see a friend in a couple of weeks. So the dishes all still need to be washed, plus I added another cereal bowl to the fold. There are dishes EVERYWHERE!!!! It's driving me crazy, but apparently I am unable to do anything about it so I'm choosing to not see it when I walk into the kitchen. This isn't really working.

I hope workout buddies will be coming over tonight, as i've been slacking on my knee exercises for the past two days. I always do them when workout buddies are around.

I have nothing but leftovers to finish up. No complaints here! The last couple of weeks have really helped me stay under my food budget; unfortunately I might have to replace the shingles this year so whatever "budget" i'm keeping will be shot to h.e. double L in the near future. Why did I buy a house again?

Ok, so... cereal, coffee, leftovers for lunch, snack 100 cals thinsations, leftovers for dinner, do the dishes, drink an extra 1L water, workout, snack maybe.

There are other things too, like pickup the post as I haven't been there for three weeks i'm sure. But I will plan that later, when I have a more real feeling of how much I will actually be able to do today. I only just woke up two hours ago. Right now I think I can take on the world.

Progress as of today: 17.5 lbs lost so far, only 7.5 lbs to go!

getmebackto150 on 04/17/2013:
I too try your method of choosing not to see dishes when I walk into my kitchen from time to time... It works to a point and then if drives you over the edge, lol!! Hope you have a good day!!

Grandmothers and the rest of us, too, should strech out the birthday celebrations - I am all for it. This reminded me of something I daughter said about a family friend who had a week long birthday celebration every year - years ago when daughter was about 10 and we had been to a few dinner, cookouts and shopping trips with the friend in honor of her birthday - she said "She really knows how to wring all the fun she can out of a birthday"! I thought that was so funny!

"...But in the end, who does it benefit? No one. The truth is, it benefits no one to live in a world where these things happen.” ― Suzanne Collins

Very sad news yesterday.

Dinner out went well; I decided on the chicken sandwich instead of pizza and only ate half because the chicken didn't look fully cooked. After dinner I hurried to the store and bought some groceries, hurried home and packed them away, then rushed over to grandma's for cake.

I was darn nearly sleeping standing up by the time I got home. Watched the news for awhile while having a bowl of cereal with almond milk, then went to bed.

Today's plan: smoothie, coffee, cafeteria sandwich, grandma's house for a visit, leftover chicken sandwich and rice, CLEAN KITCHEN, waxing. maybe some cereal as a snack.

My other plan today is to stop yawning. This one ain't working out so well.

Yes the news is very sad... I lived in Boston and used to watch the race just a mile or so from the explosions. And yes, catch up on some sleep... always needed to keep your body running like a well oiled machine.

V on 04/16/2013:
Yeah I feel ya on the news :( I just don't understand how anyone can do such a thing! I hope the yawns are eased with a good night's sleep this evening <3

hollybelle on 04/16/2013:
Such sad news. Friend who played violin at daughter's wedding lives and goes to school in Boston at BU. Spoke to his mother and she had FINALLY heard from him. He was watching the race from another location and was OK. Thank goodness. Cake with grandma sounds so good. I used to drop in and eat with my grandmother. She's been gone for about 19 years now. She was my best friend. I loved her so much. Hope you get good rest tonight and don't yawn through the day tomorrow!!
