legcramps - Wednesday Nov 16, 2011

Weight: 167.0

Tuesday - 15 minute walk - COMPLETED

Wednesday - 15 minute walk

Thursday - 15 minute walk

Friday - 15 minute walk

Saturday - 15 minute walk

Sunday - 20 minute walk

When I got home from work, I changed quickly and did about 10 minutes of stretching. Then I went for my walk outside and boy was it cold out! Urgh, I hate winter! Beyond that misery, I also had some shin pain. Some? Well, almost the entire walk. But I persevered and made it 0.8 miles in 15 minutes. Another 10 minutes of stretching after that didn't help me one bit.

Then I made myself chicken and potatoes for supper and had a snack of cheese and crackers later on while reading yet another V.C. Andrews book. Boy, those books sure are strange. Anyways.

I guess i'll bring out my compression socks at some point and see if that helps the shin pain. Today i'll head to the multiplex to walk inside; maybe that will help as well. I know I know i'm being a negative old coot right now!

Yesterday I had plain coffee, tea biscuits, salad and potato casserole, chicken and potatoes, cheese and crackers. Go CARBS!

Today plan is plain coffee, tea biscuits (I still have many left!), 1/2 turkey wrap and butternut squash soup, big tossed salad for dinner. No cheese left in the house, so my snack is undetermined but you can bet i'll find something to eat ;)

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 12 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 11/16/2011:
Thanks for comment! There are many beautiful places to hike in Scotland. Hope your shin pain goes away soon. Pain can really screw up our workouts!

V on 11/16/2011:
LOL!! You are so not a negative old coot!! Hahaha...Yeah the vC series kinda makes your skin crawl with all the incestuous relationships.. I had lots of fun yesterday but GOD help us all if Nicky ever became the "po po" He makes ya lay with your face to the ground when he cuffs :( hahaha Have a good one girl!!

Maria7 on 11/17/2011:
Hope you feel better. Your chicken and potatoes sounds delicious! (Also the cheese and crackers. :-D) Take good care of yourself and stay warm.

Weight: 167.0

New Plan:

I just got back from the doctor's office, who advised me to start a running program again, but slow it up a LOT. So, that's what i'll do. He said if I endure any shin pain to come back and he would have x-rays taken. I don't know why he didn't bother doing that now, but whatever. I will not ask questions. I will determine instead to do this as SLOWLY as I possibly can, so that if there is still pain there will be no way it could be me doing things too fast or too often.

You will have to bear with me; there won't be a lot of exercising to begin with. I set up an 18 week program (that's right! over four months!) to ease my way back into running.

Cross training in-between won't be anything to be amazed at either; I will be choosing activities which won't impact my legs - Zumba is over for me. Bring on pilates and yoga. Weightlifting? I hate weightlifting, but it might have to be an option for me. Which means i'll have to lift with the damn muscleheads at the gym. Yippee.

I will really have to watch my diet as I won't be losing any weight from exercising :(

This week:

Tuesday - 15 minute walk

Wednesday - 15 minute walk

Thursday - 15 minute walk

Friday - 15 minute walk

Saturday - 15 minute walk

Sunday - 20 minute walk

These walks will be brisk ones, no lollygagging unless my shins start to hurt. Maybe i'll take up speedwalking. Apparently there's an olympic event for the sport...

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 12 lbs to go!

legcramps - Tuesday Nov 15, 2011

Weight: 167.0

Monday:

- 2.5 mile walk

- mocha, biscuits, casserole, chicken, cheese and crackers

Once the crackers are finished and out of my house, no more. I'm sure that's what is contributing to my weight gain. Also, the biscuits aren't helping either. Oh hell, let's just say it's pretty much everything on my menu.

Neither is the stress of course. Got bad news yesterday and right now I just hate everything in life. I'm handling it well. As long as I don't think about it.

Progress as of today: 8 lbs lost so far, only 12 lbs to go!

biscottibody59 on 11/15/2011:
I hope the stress abates somewhat--take care of yourself!

Umpqua on 11/15/2011:
Take care xoxo

getmebackto150 on 11/15/2011:
Crackers have always been one of my foods that I cannot stay away from and ALWAYS eat too much of... I now keep them out of the house, hopefully that will help you too! Thinking of you!!

V on 11/15/2011:
Sorry about your bad news :( Please take care, love you <3 <3 <3

liza36 on 11/15/2011:
I just went through the same thing with pita chips. They are now gone, never to return to my house!

I'm sorry for your bad news. Take care of yourself.

~WI~ on 11/15/2011:
Anytime I'm stressing or sick, I down carbs like there is no tomorrow. In the form of breads, cake, chocolate, etc. If it is a carb, it isn't safe when Im down. Saying prayers for you.

Weight: 165.5

I haven't heard anything from Dad yet. I hate to push him by constantly asking if he's gotten his results, so I will wait until tomorrow and if I haven't heard from him I'll call. I hate this waiting stuff! I'm not a patient person at all!

This weekend I felt like I had regressed back to my 20's when I partied far too much and got into way too much trouble. I hosted my Christmas Party on Saturday night. Everything was going great - we ate our potluck meal (potatoes, chicken, ribs, beef burgers, salad), exchanged gifts (I got some CFL winter gear), exchanged our baking and chatted away comfortably as old friends normally do. We chose our songs to go carolling with, had our designated driver, and off we went. We managed to get to two houses and were driving to the third when we got pulled over! Unfortunately, everything would have been fine if the vehicle we were driving wouldn't have been flagged for expired insurance!

What a bizarre situation - the insurance is paid monthly and went through in the middle of October, then it was suddenly cancelled at the end of October. No letter, no phone call, nothing! So the driver was ticketed ($580!) but the officer thought she could fight it and get it thrown out. Oh, we all felt so bad for her as it will go on her license (point system).

I ate fairly well over the weekend but didn't get too much exercise in. On Friday I cleaned the house and did some laundry, Saturday I went for lunch with a friend visiting from another province, then had the party. Sunday I spent reading and watching episodes of Merlin and just hanging out on the couch.

Tonight i'll be walking again with a friend, hopefully a few miles. Then tomorrow I have my doc appt to hopefully get tests to see if I have any injuries with my shins. Then Wednesday is Zumba, Thursday I have a massage scheduled, then it will be Friday! Hopefully a full week means it will go by quickly, and hopefully there will be news from Dad by the end of the week.

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 10.5 lbs to go!

Kati on 11/14/2011:
Christmas party already??

grannyannie on 11/14/2011:
Hope all is well with your dad and that your week goes well.

sweetpea1977 on 11/14/2011:
Man, sounds like you had a blast this weekend. Im glad, you deserve it!!

You got a lot planned for this week. Enjoy your class and massage!

I hope you get good news on your shins and dad. Keeping you in my thoughts!

Umpqua on 11/14/2011:
Sounds like a fun weekend except for the ticket part. I hope your friend can get it excused, sounds like it's the insurance company's fault and maybe they can back her up? I'm thinking of you and your Dad.

V on 11/14/2011:
You know i thought of you today as i did laundry..The radio station that was on at the Mat was all about Christmas carols..I mean non stop back to back like it was Xmas eve...hahaha :) Hey thanks for joining my site, not sure if you know this or not but make sure you log in your workouts in the "Super Gym" they give away 500 bucks a day for just logging in workouts..Oh and did i mention it doesn't have to be a beachbody workout?? Weight: 165.5

I'm doing good today. Knock on wood! Remembrance Day holiday is tomorrow so a short work-week! My eats so far today: bagel, mocha, stuffed pita, carrot cake (oops). I should be full until dinner now and have chicken and brown rice planned for that.

Later tonight i'm heading to a friend's for our Dog Park Celebration Party :) we finally got the fence built and the park has been in use since Monday! Other than a few alterations required in the spring and a few necessities for the park (garbage cans, poop bags) we are finished! I am glad, not only with having a functioning off-leash area but also that it was a weight on my shoulders that I was having a hard time balancing with everything else.

I am waiting impatiently for a call from Dad as they've found a tumor in his esophagus. Biopsy results are still pending. Please, once again, send your prayers my way that this comes to a postive outcome. There is no way on God's green earth i'll be able to handle another diagnosis of cancer.

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 10.5 lbs to go!

I wish your dad well come what may. Take care of yourself too!

Congrats on getting the park finished! I am thinking of you and your father xoxo

hollybelle on 11/10/2011:
Sorry you dad has a tumor. I hope the report is as good and they can fix him up in a short while. My dad is very ill with colon cancer, as I have mentioned several times here. It's hard to see parents decline in their older years. Praying for the best for you dad.

V on 11/10/2011:
Lots of prayers being sent out for your Dad <3 Thinking of you!!

Eats for Tuesday: mocha, oatmeal, stuffed pita, mozza cheese, crackers, chicken, brown rice. I finally drank a good amount of water too; I haven't been too good with that lately.

I went walking yesterday after work and got in another couple of miles to bring my total for the week to 6 miles walked! Considering I was barely walking 1 mile some weeks, this is a great accomplishment and (hopefully) a turning point for me.

My shins were really bothering me though. I think I might visit my doctor (gah) and see if he can take x-rays to see if i've fractured anything.

Today I might go walking again after work, even just a mile. Then I need to do some more cleaning and prepping for the party on the weekend. And after that, I have Zumba!

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 10.5 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 11/09/2011:
Well done! :-) Good idea to get that leg checked out. Have a great day.

sweetpea1977 on 11/09/2011:
wow, 6 miles. you go girl! I hope your shins are ok!

getmebackto150 on 11/09/2011:
I hope your shins feel better soon! I'm also struggling w/ shin/calf pain... YUCK! I was fine staying late... I definitely would get cranky if I had to do it all the time, but I get interrupted SO many times through out the day that its hard to get work done sometiems, so I actually got more done... I work at a nursing home, so its technically 24 hours a day, so there were still some people here... Not like an office building where everyone leaves for the day at the same time...

Umpqua on 11/09/2011:
Awesome job with the walking, and congrats on getting your Christmas stuff done so early, dang! I don't even know what our family is doing for Thanksgiving yet (it's always last minute).

liza36 on 11/09/2011:
Great accomplishment with the miles. That's awesome.

When I read about your drinking water, I grabbed my water bottle. I've been trying to be better at that too. It was a nice reminder to chug some H2O as I read.

~WI~ on 11/09/2011:
You have to be one of the most motivated people I know about LOL. I do hope your shins are ok and that they feel better soon :)

V on 11/09/2011:
Great job on getting your walks in :) Have fun at Zumba tonight!!

legcramps - Tuesday Nov 08, 2011

Weight: 165.5

Yes, I sure am ahead of the game in regards to Christmas. Half my shopping is done, tree's up and decorations are ready to go up as well. This is unusual for me; normally i'm a shop-at-the-last-minute type of person. But since this weekend i'm hosting a Christmas party, it sort of kicked me into high gear.

Yesterday I did not find any breakfast; for lunch I had a pita filled with ham sausage, red pepper, spinach, feta cheese and a teensy weensy bit of dressing. I had a kitkat bar in the afternoon and was starving (really!) when I got home from work. The afternoon kills me every time. So hungry by then. I cut up some mozza cheese and had about three servings of crackers and cheese. I must find a way to not go overboard on the snacking. Then I had my actual dinner - chicken with dill sauce and brown rice.

I did get out to the communiplex to walk; we walked for an hour and I would say we went around 3.5 miles. Add to that the little bit of walking I did on the weekend and it looks like my total for the week will be 4 miles. I am debating heading there tonight to walk some more. Another 3 miles would sure be nice. Yes, I think that's what i'll do. And I might even do some stairs too ;)

This morning I brought oatmeal to work for breakfast. It's pretty gross because I only have leftover things to add to it. Water (blegh, almond milk is much tastier in oatmeal), pb, a few chocolate chips, frozen blueberries and granola. It's meh.

Lunch will be pita with ham sausage, red pepper, spinach, feta cheese and dressing. My afternoon snack will be leftover oatmeal because I made far too much for breakfast but I just cannot waste it. At least today I shouldn't leave work hungry.

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 10.5 lbs to go!

V on 11/08/2011:
Girl that is awesome!! Now you can come help me get ready for the holidays :) Have a good one!

liza36 on 11/08/2011:
I'm impressed both with the fact that you are ready for Christmas, and that your total for the week will be 4 miles. Both awesome!

grannyannie on 11/08/2011:
Doing well! Keep on walking! I've also got quite a few christmas gifts bought. I'll do the rest when I get to the US 12 days before christmas.

legcramps - Monday Nov 07, 2011

Weight: 165.5

Well, apparently I should have thought about the pumpkin muffins a little more and stored a few in the freezer for this week as they've all gone bad! I think I only ate four of them. Boo! Now i'm starving because I skipped breakfast. Really. Starving. Totally.

I picked up some finger food for my christmas get-together this weekend and wouldn't you know it - my store of it is diminishing without even needing a party to go with it! AAAH! Sometimes I wonder what goes through my mind when I buy things like this in advance. There goes $20 out of my budget.

There is good news in here somewhere though! On Friday I drove into the city and got started on my Christmas shopping. I managed to find gifts for five people! Yay! That much closer to the end! I also picked myself up some warm tights for the winter weather we are now faced with. We got a big load of snow on Sunday.

Saturday I did some babysitting for a friend, then worked out at the dog park again. This project is never-ending. I really need to stay strong and keep my head in it, otherwise i'll end up quitting and pissing off a lot of people. Including myself.

Sunday I cleaned house finally thankgoodness, got the tree up and spent some time visiting with friends. I need to see grandma soon; I haven't visited with her for a couple of weeks now. I also shovelled, even though it was fruitless since the wind just drifted the snow back into the pathways I had cleaned off.

Tonight i'll be heading to the communiplex to do some walking with a friend. Hopefully about an hour's worth. It's also voting day today so I need to do that right after work.

I can't concentrate anymore, i'm too hungry. Half an hour until lunchtime...

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 10.5 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 11/07/2011:
Busy busy busy! Too bad about the muffins. No more skipping breakfast! :-)

V on 11/07/2011:

*i'm trying really hard not to complain*

I guess I have nothing good to say, so...

Pumpkin Muffins:

I did finally make them. At 1:00am this morning. Yeah. I made these ones with applesauce. Bad move. Hate applesauce. Darn, there I go complaining again.

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 10.5 lbs to go!

getmebackto150 on 11/03/2011:
I hope your day gets better:) Sending hugs your way!!!

grannyannie on 11/03/2011:
Hugs from me as well!

liza36 on 11/03/2011:
I love anything pumpkin. The muffins look delicious! Hope you have a good day.

sweetpea1977 on 11/03/2011:
hahaha, but applesauce makes them healthier (less calories!!)! :) Do the muffins taste good? If not, you could always use substitute half of the applesauce (make sure its unsweetened applesauce) with olive oil (healthy fat). Doing this should make the muffins taste less sweet.

grannyannie on 11/03/2011:
Thanks for the photo comment! The camera makes it a bit more intense that it actually was, but it was beautiful.

getmebackto150 on 11/03/2011:
you should TOTALLY try quinoa... Its nutty and chewy (in a good way, I promise) and just delicious! Use it in place of rice or couscous... you won't be sorry!

sweetpea1977 on 11/03/2011:
lol, cream cheese makes almost everything taste better. Thats why I dont keep it in the house! :)

V on 11/03/2011:
LOL!! You are too funny :) I think they look good :P Yea VC had some serious family issues(me thinks) I read all of them and they get even creepier...hahaha :) Have a good evening!

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/03/2011:
wow! those muffins like really good - like so good that they are even healthy but satisfying tasty at the same time. yummy! i take it we are in the same boat with work. i know how much you loathe your job as well! don't worry girl, TGIF, the weekend is almost here. :-)

Horn_Of_Plenty on 11/03/2011:
anyways, wow, pumpkin muffins...i am gonna have to try to cook something delicious and squash-y soon! i think i may experiment some of Sunday with cooking something new....as long as i can fit it in! who wants to stay inside when we work indoors all week!? lol, am i complaining again!?

Umpqua on 11/04/2011:
Now that is a good looking muffin! I had to throw out my frozen stash so I'll have to bake some up this weekend and I think it's gonna be pumpkin. Have a good weekend!

~WI~ on 11/04/2011:
Those look great! You are inspiring to me with all the work you do and how you push yourself to do more. You do many good things and that is awesome. Have a great weekend!

legcramps - Wednesday Nov 02, 2011

I initially started out this entry by complaining. I've started over. No complaining today.

Tuesday eats: mocha, oatmeal, soup, chocolate cupcake, chicken burger, fries, diet cola.

And then I wonder why my face is breaking out.

Went back out to the dog park after work yesterday and spent another two hours working hard on it. I was near frozen by the time I got home and needed a hot bath just to warm up. I was planning on cleaning up the house last night, but I didn't have the energy. Instead, I read a little bit of The Help (okay, half the book) and fell into bed at an early hour.

Today is Zumba day. I would like to go, so i'll try very hard not to fall asleep before 8pm tonight when the class starts ;)

I think I might also attack the kitchen and make those pumpkin muffins i've been drooling about. That would at least cut down on all the freakin' chocolate. By the way, the cupcake? Forced down my throat. No lie.

Progress as of today: 9.5 lbs lost so far, only 10.5 lbs to go!

grannyannie on 11/02/2011:
Yea, I'm sure you forced that cupcake down your throat. Uh huh. LOL. That's very late for a Zumba class. I don't have the energy at that time of night.

sweetpea1977 on 11/02/2011:
Enjoy your Zumba class. Yes, you are going, because I said so! :-)

I still need to make pumpkin muffins. I cant believe I havent done that yet!

Supercheese on 11/02/2011:
Have fun at zumba!! TOday is my rumba class too!! lol enjoy the muffins ha about the cupcake.

hollybelle on 11/02/2011:
Hope you didn't fall asleep and went to Zumba. I should have read your post before I made mine. I didn't follow the no P & M (Pi$$n' and Moaning)rule. Hate to say that - I think I just needed to get it out. Pumpkin muffins! YUM!
