Yesterday was not a good day, eating-wise. I sort of binged. I hope it's over with now.

I believe it all comes down to emotional stress. I had a lot of running around to do after work yesterday and I forgot to do a couple of things which always pisses me off (I swear I show signs of early dementia); snow is melting and every time my sump pumps go off my heart beats double time because of the memory of last summer and spending hours in the basement sucking up water; I have to read through and sign some papers as an executrix and it's majorly giving me a headache because I don't understand any of it; i'm paranoid about my budget each and every day (I know that is probably what a lot of us face); I desperately need the wage increase we're lobbying for at work, but I don't know if i'll get it; blah... Come Together, Right Now... Over Me. And that's how it happened. I thought about all this, and it got to me. My head does really crazy things to get me going in the wrong direction.

There's some wicked snow mold going on over here. I should take a picture of it and show y'all. It's disgusting. Looks like there are cobwebs covering every area of lawn out here. I need to check up on Mom, as she has some pretty strong allergies and I hope she's not having trouble with all this mold.

See all that at the bottom of the picture? Snow Mold.

As you've probably deduced, the snow is melting at a much faster rate now. I've been teasing myself with visions of bbq's on the back deck, and beer. Yes... beer. I think alcohol is the only thing I actually managed to give up during lent. And only two more weeks until Easter. Coming back from that tangent. I am going to attempt to work some burgers into my budget for the next two weeks so that I can have a cook up at some point. Oh, it's such an exciting thought!!!

You'll never guess what I did when I woke up this morning. But i'll give you three guesses. Go ahead. Guess.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 04/12/2011:
I think the best thing is to forget about it and live one day at a time. I'm trying to analyse myself during the binges because I recognize the behaviour... and the frightening aspects are: my binges consist of eating healthy foods but in big quantities... I don't crave a full bowl of ice cream, or a slice of chocolate cake nor hamburgers. I eat a slice of bread and I go back to get more and more. And I know it's wrong but I say: "nevermind, tomorrow will do better". Which is WRONG... period. I really need to stop this. The scale is going to the right direction but until when?! :( I also need to do something on financial level... and my colleagues are trying my nerves, too... GRRR... really, I should give myself an emotional break, I feel ditched and stuck. :(

Umpqua on 04/12/2011:
Hey, at least you stuck to that one resolution! I have trouble with emotional stress eating too, that got me into trouble over the weekend. BBQ burgers sound great. Oh and sorry if your Aunt F is in town, hopefully it's a short visit :P

V on 04/12/2011:
Okay I think you worked out and had a beer :) LOl Naww I am thinking you worked out and just that :) I am anxiously awaiting your response ;)

hollybelle on 04/12/2011:
Thank you for your comment. Very nice to have support. I hope we can resolve things, too.

biscottibody59 on 04/12/2011:
Uh, on the executrix--if you haven't signed it yet and are still having a time understanding it, please think about seeing an attorney. Just my 2cents:-)

I have no clue--treadmill walking/running?

Have a great afternoon/evening!

moogy on 04/12/2011:
I have never heard of snow mould before. Being an executrix is a big job and can be tricky, I am with biscotti, get some legal advice before you agree to become one or sign anything. I can see that the thought of warm days and sitting outside with a cold beer are the only things keeping you going!! Hang in there. I am going for the treadmill as well or did you go out running?????

biscottibody59 on 04/12/2011:

2nd guess is harvesting snow mold--as it must be a delicacy??

hopingforhealth on 04/12/2011:
It's so hard to be good when you are stressed out, I totally understand. Tomorrow is a new day and you can try again.

I will keep my fingers crossed for the wage increase! My office has had some long pay freezes in this economy and it's definitely stressful.

chidogs on 04/12/2011:
Ack, snow mold looks nasty! I have never heard of that before. I know all about stress eating. Just came of a long binge myself. I am easing back into better foods and quantities now. I hope. Legal stuff is major confusing. Get help if you can before you sign anything! Good luck.

h82bfat on 04/13/2011:
I'm an emotional/boredom eater too. I'm not quite sure what to do about that, I mean - a person can only stay but sooo busy & well the emotional part, who knows... So, you're not alone there! I've been trying lately to focuss on what I do have & what I HAVE accomplished for the day, rather than what I wished were different. All I can say about that is, some days it works...! Eye on the prize my friend - eye on the prize!

One more week of work and then i'm off for a few days of holidays! The countdown is on!

Yesterday I did laundry and cleaned out the garage. Just need to take in some recycling and the garage is ready for... whatever it needs to be ready for. I also kept picking at the containers upstairs in the spare room and finally got that all straightened out too. Now to pick and choose which containers can go into the basement for storage.

I cooked up the rest of the cod I had sitting in the freezer. I decided to make a stir-fry with brown rice, tomatoes, carrots, onions and the leftover cod. Yum! I separated out enough for four meals this week, but it's so yummy I might accidentally over-eat. I have no picture, but it even looks yummy. That's pretty dangerous in my opinion ;)

I didn't do any formal exercising yesterday, so i'm hoping to get something in today after work. I'm thinking about a run/walk with Dog.

My breakfast this morning didn't quite work out so well; I brought cereal to work with me, and mixed frozen berries and almond milk together to mix into the cereal. The frozen berries crystallized the almond milk and it's sort of a big hot mess of crunchy coldness. Not sure i'm a fan. Ah well, the turkey sandwich for lunch will more than make up for it.

That's it, that's all I have to say today.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 04/11/2011:
Woohoo, holidays! :)) I like the idea of a big hot mess of crunchy coldness, hehehe... :)

One more helping of veggie lasagna and it's finally done!

I was up early this morning, so I got dressed up and took Dog for a walk. We did some running segments too, in total just over 2 miles. When we got back to the house, I took a quick shower and had some cereal and a banana for breakfast.

From there I started cleaning and doing some filing. I cleared out another container that I had still not unpacked. Only two more to go! One really, since the other one is mostly holding a bunch of sheet music. Anyways, i'm feeling super-accomplished.

For lunch I had a turkey sandwich (boo to the no bread rule... why did I even bother?!) and lotsa water. And, since it is the weekend and I have no major plans, I took a nap :) It was lovely. When I woke up, I snagged a granola bar and headed out for my weekend luxury - a mocha. That was also lovely.

I'm doing laundry now (just about finished), and ate up some lasagna for dinner. Carrots and onions are sitting on the stove, cooking away. I'll probably end up putting them away for tomorrow.

I did a quick inventory of the groceries in the house and it looks like i'll get through until Friday which is awesome news. I was worried I was gonna have to look for sneaky ways to cover a few meals (aka grandma's for dinner and/or shopping in mom's freezer). I might even be able to budget a meal out. Apparently i'm pretty paranoid about my spending habits! Ah well, it's good to be cheap sometimes ;)

I feel like it's been a great day, and I hope that tomorrow will be much of the same - sure would like to get outside and start throwing the ball around. It's never too early for ball season!

Have a Great Weekend!!!

It's FWIDAY!!!

Yesterday I got a lot accomplished out of my To-Do List. Paid two bills, scooped poop, finished the taxes, prepped for the ball meeting and an upcoming dog park meeting. I was snoring by 10pm.

I still didn't want to get up this morning, but eventually I did and then had to rush a bit to get ready for work because I planned to walk to work so I needed an extra half an hour. The walk was nice; slightly cool but I dressed appropriately and it didn't bother me too much. Now i'm pigging out on a breakfast of cereals, strawberries and a banana with almond milk. Yummers! And, of course, coffee.

I had a slight headache when I left work yesterday. Eventually I decided to take an advil, and that seemed to help a bit, but I woke up this morning feeling that headache again. I've already taken an advil so am just waiting for it to kick in. Also, something i've been noticing when i've taken advil: stomach aches! I seem to become extremely nauseus after I take an advil. This morning I took it with water and nothing else. Do I need to eat something with it? Why do you think it's making me sick? Or am I just maybe getting sick and it's not about the advil? Oh, so many questions, so few answers.

It's going to be a pretty quiet weekend, which is great because I think i'm going to need to rest. Maybe I should get my thyroid checked. Maybe i'm just lazy.

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

KathyBlue on 04/08/2011:
yeah, those damn' pills cause stomach ache... Try an other brand, though they all quite the same. I like Panadol extra, and here in Portugal I use Trifene. I don't know if it makes sense to talk about these, as we're from different countries AND continents, but Advil exists here so, maybe it does make sense :)

Have a nice weekend, and I love the pic! :)

Umpqua on 04/08/2011:
The advil could definitely be messing with your tummy, try taking it with a little food or milk to coat? I am doing full on backyard cleanup/poop scooping this afternoon, AGH. Have a good one!

I have to say, you girls have been all kinds of supportive to me. I really appreciate that you still have my back :) I think I would have given up by now if I didn't have all of you cheering me on.

Yesterday Dog and I went for a walk. No running, but the walk was very enjoyable and we traipsed around town showing off our awesome walking form. Dog needed another bath when we got home. She's very helpful when it comes to bath time. She stayed outside until I started the water, then loped gingerly into the house and straight to the tub. Once there, she waited patiently while I arranged her towels, tail wagging away. She stood so quietly in the water, and jumped out once I gave her the "ok". What an awesome Dog! She got an extra treat for the A+ work!

I am still sleepy and tired most of the time, and a little bit slower than usual, but i'm getting through it alright so far. I think I will take today off from exercise so that I can tackle some things on the To-Do list. Like picking up more dog poo, prepping for an upcoming ball meeting, getting further along on finishing up my taxes, and checking out the coupons I received in the mail yesterday. If I could get through that part of the list tonight, i'd be a very happy camper.

Wow, your dog is awesome! She must have an awesome owner!

Anyway, we support you because you deserve it, even through the rough times. Plus, it helps that you're an awesome source of support for us too. :)

Picking up dog poop...fun! That used to be one of my weekly chores as a kid. We had a fenced in yard and three Dalmatians to clean up after once a week. Now thats a lot of crap, lol :)

liza36 on 04/07/2011:
What a nice doggie you have! I agree with Sweetpea - awesome owner!

~Moody~ on 04/07/2011:
Wowee what a great dog!! I've never had a dog voluntarily come to the bathroom when the water was running..somehow they know when that water is running for THEM. LOL

Hope you find some energy~just a random thought, but have you had your thyroid checked? The reason I ask is I have hypothyroidism and before I was diagnosed, I was seriously dragging ass. A bone weary tired. So yeh, just wondering if this is something you've had checked...

Hope you have a great day, and get thru your to-do list this evening!

"You cannot grow and expand your capabilities to their limits without running the risk of failure."  Dean Karnazes

I realized something today. I am not where I was two months ago (believe it or not, this actually was a very surprising discovery). And I also realized that it will take a bit of work to get back there; I can't just snap my fingers and be a power calorie-burning machine again. I have to consider the fact that I can't workout at such high intensities. I am not there anymore; it's amazing how much you lose when you go from high activity to minimal activity. I've reached the realization (and acceptance) that I need to (in a sense) start over.

I cannot let myself believe it's okay if I miss another workout. They can no longer be at the same level of intensity, but such is life. I need to:  Leash Dog and go for walk/runs; Shred; Lift, tone, abs. Start there, and see where it takes me. Nice and easy. It was pretty muddy outside yesterday. Dog went from blonde to black in a heartbeat. I also came home splattered with it. But I went for a walk, and I even managed a few run segments.

And now we're at Today. According to my schedule, it's a "Run Day". A "Run Day" would be helpful, seeing as I signed up for another 5k run towards the end of May, but it will most certainly end up a "Walk/Run with Dog Day". This is okay. Because even through failure, there is success - which is to say, i'm still here aren't I?

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

you ARE still here... and ANY workout is much better than none... I keep telling myself that as well... Have a good one!

~Moody~ on 04/06/2011:
Love the quote~So true!

It's discouraging to feel like you are "starting over" in a sense with your endurance, but it does build up very quickly. I've done this time and time again...Start out slow..if you go balls to the walls you'll feel burnt out or discouraged because your body can't go at the intensity your mind says it can~But you WILL get back to the place you were before, and probably excel past that!! Hang in there..

I spent near to half an hour in the back yard yesterday picking up dog poo. I probably only got about a third of it picked up. More excitement for today I guess. It's joyful being a dog owner :)

I don't know what happened when I got home from work yesterday, but I blinked once and suddenly it was 10pm.

I don't really have much to say. I feel like i'm constantly telling you I failed, day after day, to get back to my routine. As you can probably imagine, having to admit this each day is beginning to wear on me. I slept 9 hours overnight, and still couldn't get myself up for a morning workout. During the evening I swear I could just sit in the dark and stare at a wall for hours. I guess i'm feeling overwhelmed with things again. I just feel really, super tired.

I'm gonna write an entry when I have something more better to say ;)

ITA with getmeback. At least you are recognizing that you want to change.

Im sure that the weather up there hasnt helped you find the motivation you seek. Sometimes the only thing that that works for me is forcing myself to exercise. I always feel better afterward!

I am hoping you will find the girl who was so determined in bootcamp that you begged for more, it's in you, I know it...For me workouts are truly the one thing in my life that is non negotiable...So scheduling it at a reasonable time and if it is in the morning, you must force yourself up and et it done and the rest of the day you have all the time to do whatever it is that you want :) Have a good one, love ya!

So April showers bring May flowers, but what does April snow bring?

It brings grumpiness, that's what.

I had a great weekend, regardless of the snow we received on Friday night. A nice visit with Dad on Saturday, a visit with Mom and Grandma on Sunday and lots of cleaning and cooking of veggie lasagna for my dinners this week (and probably next week, judging by how much I made). I also managed to do some bargain shopping for groceries and saved a lot of money this weekend - YES!

I didn't want to get up this morning. I'm still struggling a bit with getting exercise in, although I feel like I did a lot in regards to cleaning the house and running errands, so i'm not going to beat myself up over it. I do want to try another early morning workout this week because I definitely need to push myself to increase my energy levels. Need more energy :)

My To-Do's are getting longer, so if I can fit in a workout or two this week i'll be happy because there are so many other things that need to be done. It's making me tired just thinking of it all ;) but i'm sure i'll get through it because I usually manage to. Two more full weeks of work, and then i've taken a week off around Easter to do some spring cleaning. I only hope that by then it will actually be spring!

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

Great job on the grocery savings. :)

I know what you mean about your to-do list keeping you from getting real exercise. Its been really difficult for me to fit in workouts when my two sons are on different schedules. Hopefully, those wrinkles will get ironed out soon!

~Moody~ on 04/04/2011:

legcramps - Friday Apr 01, 2011

Weight: 164.0

Yay for Friday!

Yesterday I walked halfway home after work, so I skipped the shred session I was supposed to do even though it only took me 15 minutes. It's on the list of To-Do's for today, so long as the rest of the list doesn't get any longer. Leftovers for dinner, chatted with friends, did some cleaning and HELLO 10pm, time for bed I guess.

When I woke up this morning I contemplated getting the shred workout over with, then decided that I wanted to walk to work instead (30 minutes one way). We've been getting really nice weather lately, and I just love being out in the crisp air during a nice peaceful walk to work. The walk back in the afternoon? Not as much fun. Anyways, so I had to rush a bit to get ready for work, and didn't have time to make up a lunch. Basically, I just grabbed my water and took off. Breakfast? Oops. Hair? In a ponytail. Makeup? Badly done. I ended up wiping most of it off when I got to work and looked at myself in the mirror. The sweet news is that I brought along a pair of American Eagle dress shoes to work in and they are SLAMMIN' sexy with my purple painted toenails. Picture? Sure! Don't mind the fuzziness...

see that tatt? it's not a cockroach. it's a lady bug.

I hit up the cafeteria to see what they had for lunch and managed to choose some healthy options as well as some yogurt for an afternoon snack. Picture? Sure! Teehee.

(part of my lunch. i actually hate radishes, but whatever.)

My To-Do's are pretty enormous today mainly because it's PAY DAY and I really need to get to the grocery store and put gas in the car, but I also have to clean the house as I am getting a visit from my Dad tomorrow. It's going to be a busy evening, but thank goodness i'll have the weekend to relax :)

Have an awesome weekend everyone!

legcramps - Thursday Mar 31, 2011

Weight: 164.0

Yesterday I fed my friend's cat after work (thankfully it looks like he's actually starting to eat a little more. I was worried for him at first because it sounded like he'd been crying all night and he didn't seem interested in eating). My friend is back at home today, so hopefully the kitty feels better now that mama's back :)

So it was too wet and mucky outside to run. I was feeling far too lazy to drive to the gym. This is starting to sound bad, but there is a silver lining. I do have an old treadmill at home, so I got changed and started it up. Granted, I didn't go very far, but I made my goal for the day - to go for a nice short run - so i'm happy and feeling very successful. With warm-up and cool-down, I was at it for half an hour, which made the run about 20 minutes long. Though it did make me realize that I do need a different at-home treadmill if I want to run. It was a struggle not to fall off the thing during the running segments.

After the run I did my stretching and seemed to be bursting with energy. I felt really great. So I did a few chores and filled out my tax forms (boo). I went to bed early again and slept through most of the night. This morning I was on autopilot until I "became conscious" in the shower when I felt my leg CRAMP! My left calf. Yikes. Thankfully the shower was hot, so I just lifted my calf to the warm spray and let it work itself out. I did some more stretching after my shower and a quick ab routine of 60 crunches, then got ready for work.

There are so many great fixes for legcramps, including both exercise and proper diet. I've been doing well, this is the first one i've had in many moons ;) Last night after my run, I did 40 ankle raises against the wall. I'm hoping that eventually my calf muscles will grow stronger and the legcramps will no longer be a problem. There is hope for my future!

Progress as of today: 11 lbs lost so far, only 9 lbs to go!

Treadmill and ab crunches sound great! Any exercise is good exercise :)

Nice job on the exercise. Good tip on how to stretch for leg cramps. Hope that doesn't happen again!
